With the money we've raised so far we can bring you 5 additional episodes this season with a total season length of 7 episodes. If we meet our fundraising goal, we'll be able to make 5 more than that, bringing the season total to 12. We have until Sunday, April 6th to meet that goal. So now is the time to contribute and spread the word.
We're also thrilled to announce that we now have a $500 matching grant. So if we can raise $500 by Sunday, we'll actually be adding $1000 to our total. So please, please, please, help us tell the full story. We promise you'll want to hear it.

Creator Adam Qutaishat brings you an update on where the campaign to bring you Season 2 currently stands and how you can help us reach our goal. The Crowdfundr closes April 6th. You can learn more and see a trailer with messages from the cast at crowdfundr.com/vigilseason2.
Transcript:
Hello Vigil Listeners,
Adam Qutaishat, creator of Vigil here to provide you with an update on our Crowdfunding campaign. We had an amazing day 1 and we've now reached over 40% of our goal! We're so unbelievably thankful for each and every person who has contributed to the campaign or spread the word. Your support means the world to us.
We have 60% of our $12,000 goal to raise and about a week and a half left to do it. And that's where you, the listeners come in. Our Crowdfudnr closes on April 6th and in order to meet our goal, we need your help. Contributing if you can. Spreading the word on social media and with personal interactions. We can do this and we will working together.
On a personal note, making art is difficult right now. Making art about challenging oligarchal systems as an artist in the United States with a BBIPOC, queer, trans, disabled team of artists is really really difficult. And to me, that means it's worth doing. But Vigil will do just that when we meet our goal. So please, help us continue to produce independent audio fiction for you. I promise, no amount is too small. No sharing is insignificant. Every bit helps. And it helps to change the lives of the artists who make the show, the audiences who listen, and frankly, me. You could help change my life. And for considering that, I'm immensely thankful.
Check out more about the Crowdfundr and checkout our awesome Crowdfundr trailer with personal messages from the team by visiting our campaign at crowdfundr.com/vigilseason2. Crowdfundr is spelled without an "e" and vigil season 2 uses the numeral 2. If you're not sure how to spell it, you can check out the show notes. Again, thank you for listening, supporting, and making Vigil the series it is. You'll hear from us again soon!

Adam: Hello Vigil Listeners, I'm Adam Qutaishat, show creator and voice of Vigil and today I want to tell you about a show made by some great friends of mine over at Shoulder Knife. Who is Shoulder Knife, you ask? Great question. They're new to the podcasting game, but you wouldn't know it from their flagship show Live from Zarlof. An improvised newscast from the depths of space. As we all know, Earth has been captured by the Zarlofian Empire. So listening to Live From Zarlof, hosted by two rookie alien news anchors, Herc Dercules and Ron Spackman, as they unpack breaking news from across the stars with the help of their team of committed field reporters, is actually a requirement. Ron and Herc were both promised a newsdesk all to themselves, so there's definitely some tension. And the previous anchor disappeared under...mysterious circumstances.
Like great shows like Hello from the Magic Tavern or Voyage to the Stars, Live from Zarlof takes the hijinks of their episode to episode shenanigans and combines it with longform storytelling to keep you hooked on its goofy characters. And it does something else those shows does by combining great performances with quality sound design and a great soundtrack that brings you into their world. So, do yourself a favor and listen to Live From Zarlof wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes are released every Tuesday so make sure to leave a follow to stay up to date! To learn more, you can follow Shoulder Knife on social media and join their Patreon for exclusive content frome Live from Zarloff and more! Our thanks to Live From Zarlof and Shoulder Knife for their support!

Adam: Yes! We do, but there's a slight twist! Here's how it will all track out:
Hayley: On February 7th we'll be launching our trailer for Season 2 right here.
Adam: We will also be launching our Search for Maria aka our crowdfunding campaign.
Hayley: Here’s how you can help us save Maria:
Adam: We are going to be raising money to make Season 2 everything it needs and wants to be. We'll be doing that with a Crowdfundr campaign that will run from March 7th through early April.
Hayley: But that doesn't mean you have to wait for new episodes!
Adam: That's true, because Episode 1 of Season 2 will launch right here in the feed on the same day as our Crowdfundr starts, March 7th.
Hayley: But that's not all. You can get access to a second episode that same day.
Adam: Yes! First day pledges are crucial for crowdfunding. So if you help up out in any amount on day one, you get access to Episode 2 of Season 2 that same day.
Hayley: Otherwise you can get it as one of our perks later in the campaign.
Adam: The success of this Crowdfundr will dictate how many episodes will be in Season 2, so please give if you can, and spread the word.
Hayley: We're so excited to bring you Season 2 and to return to the world of Vigil and it's just over a month away!
Adam: Thank you all for supporting our show and you'll be hearing from us again soon with new episodes of....

A Myth - The Weaving Contest
“Well, girl. Let’s see what you can do.”
Psychopompos - a new mythology takes on a very famous myth, The Weaving Contest, which pits the famed and arrogant mortal weaver Arakhne against the Goddess of the Loom, Athena. Narrated by Calliope, the Muse of Epic Poetry and the Chief Muses, she paints the scene as Arakhne disparages Athena to Pan and his friend, the satyr Marsyas, until the great goddess arrives to put her in her place.
Content Warning: Explicit Language, Violence.
Cast & Crew
Pixie Leona as Arakhne
Valerie Lyvers as Athena/Old Woman
Anya Clingman as Calliope
Miguel Long as Pan
Mandyn Mueller as Marsyas

Transcript of Introduction:
Hello, Adam Qutaishat, the creator and producer of Vigil, back again with more info about our quest for season two. I think we’re just a few weeks away from the big announcement of our next step, hopefully. These things take time and the last thing we want to do is rush to something that isn’t going to work. We’re committed to making a great season on terms that work for our artists. We thank you for your support and understanding in making that happen.
And I don’t have a good segue for this week, so I’m just going to tell you about Psychopomos: a New Mythology. Psychopompos is a retelling of Greek Mythology the way it was always meant to be told, diverse, queer, dramatic, sensual, and filled with personalities that are fit for the Gods, Goddesses, and Goddexxs that inhabit it's political and tumultuous world. Psychopompos is not only one of the coolest podcasts out there, but it features several Vigil actors in its cast! One of them is Shayne Patrick, our brilliant voice over artist. And another is me, Adam Qutaishat! I play Hermes! And I don't just say this because I'm in the show, I truly mean it: I love Psychopompos. I'm such a fan of the writing and the storytelling. There's so much packed into each episode. You get deep cuts into the mythology for all you lore folks, and you get political and family drama on pace with your Successions of the world, while also feeling truly like your listening to a modern classic! Like, classic classic. Anyway, I could wax poetic about Psychopompos all day, or, I could tell you that we have the very first myth coming up in just a few seconds. If you like it, make sure you subscribe to their feed to get all that Godly goodness! Hope to see you on Mount Olympus. And now Psychopompos: A New Mythology - Weaving Contest.

As we continue to move towards a Season 2, we want to share some awesome shows we love. Today we share Give Me Away, by the brilliant creators at Gideon Media!
---
They call the spaceship that crashed in the Nevada desert “The Ghosthouse” because it screams—the screams of thousands of extraterrestrial political prisoners uploaded into its horrific mainframe. The only way to free them... is to transfer them into the bodies of humans willing to share their minds with an alien second consciousness. But who would volunteer for that? Graham Shapiro, divorced and adrift at age 50, is one of the first to raise his hand. Give Me Away follows Graham’s journey into a world of radical hospitality, one which will touch everything—and everyone—in his life.
Written by Mac Rogers, directed by Jordana Williams, sound designed by Bart Fasbender, music by Adam Blau. Cover art by Kate Kosma.

Episode Transcript (May Contain Spoilers):
SHANA: Hello, Vigil listeners. My name is Shana, and I’m the producer of Vigil. As many of you have probably heard by now, our host Maria Kennedy was abducted during a recording of an interview for Hero Trackers on June 6th. Local and national authorities have been investigating, but thus far, we’ve received no updates on the whereabouts of Maria in the weeks since her disappearance.
In an effort to find and rescue her, we’re reaching out for help. Many of you have already contacted us with tips and offers of support, and we are so thankful. What we can safely say at this time is: anyone who appeared on the podcast has been cleared of involvement; Vigil is deceased and could not possibly be involved in an abduction that occurred over a year after his death; and the criminal Morse is the primary suspect for this crime. If you have any information on Morse, please contact the authorities directly. We are going to play the recording of the interview during which Maria went missing. We share this with you in hopes that someone out there can hear something we couldn’t. Please be advised that the following may be disturbing to some listeners.
MARIA: Hello. Maria Kennedy here for Hero Trackers, and I’m sitting down with Angle, who is known for her daring takedowns of criminals like Coriolis and Nadir. Thanks for being with us here today.
ANGLE: No problem.
MARIA: You’ve also got a bit of a history with a hero that I ‘ve gotten to know quite well recently…
ANGLE: (Chuckling) I knew you were going to bring this up! Yes, I did do some work with Vigil.
MARIA: (With good humor) Well, it’s hard not to ask when I’ve been hearing your voice in recordings for the past few months!
ANGLE: It wasn’t that many cases. Honestly, considering some of the other heroes we worked with—
[Sounds of static.]
MARIA: I’m so sorry, just one moment. Shana, what’s—
ANGLE: (overlapping) Maria, are you okay?
MORSE: (overlapping) You did not heed the message.
ANGLE: Everyone get down!
MARIA: Angle—
SHANA: Maria!—
[Confusion and exclamations from ANGLE, MARIA, and SHANA.]
MORSE: Now, I must make the code clear.
[MARIA screams.]
SHANA/ANGLE: No! Maria!
MORSE: And now, the liar is gone.
The truth shall be revealed.
Vigil. Is. A. Lie!
[Morse code crescendos, then silence.]

Due to the popularity of the show, we’ve now been extended to ten episodes. However, that’s nowhere near enough time to explore the complex person that Vigil was—not to mention his incredible legacy—so, I’m happy to announce that we will be bringing you a Season Two of Vigil after our initial ten episodes. We’ve recently received access to a lot of new information, and we’re working on setting up some high-profile interviews to bring you an exciting second season!
Until then, we still have four more episodes of Season One, and they will not disappoint. We’re gonna spend some time with two more of Vigil’s important, early cases. Starting next week, we’ll meet one of Vigil’s top rivals in the industry. You don’t want to miss it. So, make sure you’re subscribed to our feed so you’re the first to know when a new episode drops.
Finally, even though I wish I didn’t have to, I’m going to address the most recent incidents with the individual known as “Morse.” You may have seen on social media that both the Hero Trackers and Vigil accounts have been hacked by an individual claiming to be Morse. Additionally, both Hero Trackers Studios and my home were delivered cryptic, threatening messages from this Morse. While it is not yet clear if this is an elaborate troll or the actions of emboldened internet bullies, our response is to unequivocally condemn this behavior and let you know that we will not be intimidated. Civil and heroic authorities are investigating, and you will be caught and held accountable for your actions.
Thank you to everyone who expressed concern. I’ve been covering the hero industry for years and this is far from the scariest situation I’ve faced. I ask that we move on from this incident and focus on the purpose of this series, which is learning more about Vigil, a HeroTrac podcast.

MARIA: Hi. It’s Maria from Hero Trackers. But I can probably just start saying it’s Maria from Vigil. When we started making this show, we weren’t sure anyone was even going to listen. In fact, we were convinced no one was going to care about an unknown support hero. Yet, here we are with what feels like the whole world listening!
We’ve got a brand-new adventure lined up for you next week as Vigil teams up with an old friend, but for today, I’m going to try to respond to some fan questions. We have gotten so many that we’re having trouble keeping up, but we’re trying to answer the most pressing questions.
This question comes from @Falastan on Twitter: “How did Vigil get access to Vila’s financial records? Do they have access to mine? Is someone looking into that?” Great question. Unfortunately, the answer is: we’re not sure! What we do know is he had access through another hero. His recordings and notes don’t give us an identity, but it seems like we might all be under watch. Not the most reassuring answer, Falastan, but it’s the only one we’ve got.
The next one is from a large number of emails and tweets that had more or less the same question. To summarize: “Did Vila ever forgive Vigil?” And I would tell you the answer, but that would be spoiling it. Vila’s role in Vigil’s story is not over, so it’s not yet time to reveal what role she’s going to be playing in the future. But if you’re still curious, now would be a great time to hit that follow or subscribe button.
The last one we’re going to try to answer, for now, is from an email from Jen. Jen asks “Did Vigil have any sort of logo and imagery like the heroes we see all the time?” Another excellent question, and this one has a very simple answer: Yes! The artwork for the show incorporates his seal that he used to identify himself in the field. We aren’t going to infringe on his rights and publish it, but we did get permission to use it in our artwork, and we’ll talk to the estate about releasing some images of the seal…and maybe even some merchandise. So, stay tuned for updates.
Finally, as I said in my previous update, we are not going to be intimidated. While I don’t know who “Morse” is, and I don’t know how they got my private email address, it doesn’t matter. Your cryptic ramblings are not going to deter us from our goal. Which is to make sure the world knows the story of Vigil. And…we’ll be back with that story next week right here. I’m Maria Kennedy. Thanks for listening!

MARIA: Hi! It’s Maria from Hero Trackers, and I have to say, the responses to the first two parts of Vigil have been...overwhelming. Thank you to those of you who’ve listened and appreciated our adventure so far.
We have received so many emails and letters that there is no way we’ll be able to sort through them in a timely manner. So if you don’t hear back from us right away, it’s not that we don’t care, but that, unlike Vigil, we only have so many hours in a day. For those of you sending us tips on potential Vigil information, we appreciate the support, but we cannot chase down any outside leads at this time. We have plenty of material to come, so please be patient.
For those reporting Vigil sightings: I will reiterate that Vigil died last year, so you should be reporting the presence of a copycat or a vigilante to the authorities. We at Hero Trackers do not condone vigilantism. And you will note that, despite Urgent’s concerns, Vigil and Urgent were both licensed heroes at the time of those recordings.
For those concerned about Biome’s safety due to the broadcast of Parts One and Two: don’t worry. We spoke to Biome before the episodes aired and had his full permission to release them. He’s completely safe.
Finally, for those sending threats and other inflammatory messages: I will let you know unequivocally that we will not be intimidated or terrorized into any course of action. Vigil’s story deserves to be told, and it will be. Your tactics will not work, so you can save yourselves the effort.
So much of what we’re seeing and hearing is so positive toward Vigil and this story, and for that we thank you. We’re thrilled to be sharing this with all of you and we’ll see you next week with a brand-new chapter.
