WCRP on Skateboarding

WCRP: Don Hillsman 004

25 min • 12 juni 2021

When i first started WCRP, my vision was to educate. Plus, deliver the REAL history of skateboarding. Straight from the unsung heroes of skateboarding. One of the first gentlemen that came to mind- Don Hillsman. If you grew up skateboarding in the 80s. Especially, in the South. Don’s story, is that of legend. We hear these rappers who claim “King of the South”. But we all know who the real King is. One of the few skaters that made it to the big leagues, when they weren’t just handing out contracts & pro models. One of the first skateboarders to ever do a 540 on vert. Walked away from one of the biggest companies in skateboarding, over racism. What more really needs to be said? This man, is a national treasure.

Its with great HONOR, i bring to you. Part 1 of my exclusive talk with the President of BBS Posse, Mr. Don Hillsman. We candidly discuss growing up being Black skateboarders, and our family upbringings. Don also shares a hilarious story about blue grass pills & some nosey neighbor. We talk Kris Markovich & frontside blunts. Plus, his love & respect for Fred Reeves.

With guest appearances from ATL’s own Yannick, and my little brother Dorien- this is the one folks.

Thank you once again, Don. Nothing but the heaviest of respect to this skateboarding pioneer. With that being said.. LETS GOOOOO!!- Clyde Singleton
