17 min • 4 december 2021

You can’t talk early 90’s street skating. Or, the city of Los Angeles, California. Without mentioning the name, Julio De La Cruz. That’s just an undeniable fact, so go argue with your Mama. We’ve all seen the New Deal video, with Chariots of Fire theme. He blessed the CULTURE with Neighborhood Skateboards, & Central Clothing. Put some of the best dudes out there in the game, way back. Make no mistakes about it, Julio is a certified LEGEND in these streets. And, he’s here today on WCRP, to share his story..

Tune in, we discuss the importance of skateboarding unions. Julio talks growing up skating South Gate, in the ‘80s. Getting his first skateboard, from a neighborhood drug dealer. An amazing story, of KFC chicken buckets & free knee pads. Accidentally setting his house on fire, as a child. The influence of Mark Gonzales, surviving the early 90’s era, OG Tampa Pro contests, and all things skateboarding!

Not gonna lie.. This may be one of the funniest, and most insightful interviews I’ve ever done. Julio is as real as they come. Thank you for doing this, brother. Always a pleasure catching up.

You know how we do about this time. It’s the mighty, mighty WCRP on Skateboarding. Tune in!- Clyde Singleton
