Episode 59: Whisky & Watches with @whiskyblenderdude and @rjkama

This week's episode is quite special. We made the resolution to feature more Whiskey (or Whisky) on the podcast, and this episode really delivers!

After recording in November with RJ, he brought up the idea of recording an episode with our new friend Sandy, the master blender at Chivas/Glenlivet/Ballantines/etc. to really get into the development of a scotch blend, what goes into the process, etc. After finally coordinating our calendars (or diaries) we were able to make it happen!

This episode features the Glenlivet 12 year, and Sandy walks us through how his job as master blender really touches all points of the process to get that excellent beverage from the still to the bottle. Sandy takes us behind the scenes as we talk about whisky recipes, the industry in general, and how it all comes together. We get into the cask selection, what drives new product creation, and how these items are passed from generation to generation.

If that sounds a lot like wrist watches, you would be correct. Sandy is a huge fan of Grand Seiko (no surprise) and appreciates the craft that goes into fine watch making. We talk about where the love for watches started (at a very young age) and how it has progressed over the years. This episode is full of great discussion, new friendship, and plenty of jokes, we are sure you will enjoy this as much as we did!
