WitchLit is on a summer hiatus while we settle into our new WitchLit HQ and rather than leave a blank space in the feed, we’re taking the old TV network approach and bringing you some summer reruns from our first two seasons.
Today’s rerelease is my conversation with Dr. Alexander Cummins. We talked about a number of his previous books and his then upcoming book Nazarth: Pillars of Gladness or, a Geomancer’s Angelical Psalter of Calls, containing vessels 19 with which to water the earth — because we love the Early Modern full-paragraph book titles. He offers many courses on his website alexandercummins.com and will be presenting at the Salem Witchcraft and Folklore Festival in August. We’ll be back with new episodes beginning next week on August 2.
Original episode show notes:
Dr. Cummins and I talk about the academic and the practical in both writing and magic and how to make the academic practical. If you ever wondered what academics on either side of the pond think about magic, you can get an inside scoop here.
Show notes:
You can purchase all of Dr. Cummins books wherever books are sold or directly from Hadean Press or Revelore Press

WitchLit is on a summer hiatus while we settle into our new WitchLit HQ and rather than leave a blank space in the feed, we’re taking the old TV network approach and bringing you some summer reruns from our first two seasons.
Today’s rerelease is my conversation with Margaret Killjoy. We talked mostly about her book A Country of Ghosts and her Danielle Caine series. Since our conversation she has published two new books We Won’t Be Here Tomorrow and Escape from Incel Island. With the Strangers in a Tangled Wilderness collective, she just completed a Kickstarter for Penumbra City, a role playing game set in "a world where money has lost its luster, and it is a character’s reputation with the various gangs, factions, and coalitions that determine their access to resources." She is also busy with two podcasts: Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff, a history of organizers, activists, and anarchists, and Live Like the World Is Dying, a podcast with rotating hosts talking about community preparedness.
Original episode show notes:
Margaret and I chat about her writing, and her podcasting, and her music, and anarchism, but mostly about writing and her excellent book A Country of Ghosts and the Danielle Caine series of novellas. There may have been fangirling.
Margaret’s work is available wherever books are sold. A Country of Ghosts is available directly from AKPress and you can preorder We Won’t Be Here Tomorrow and Other Stories.

WitchLit is on a summer hiatus while we settle into our new WitchLit HQ and rather than leave a blank space in the feed, we’re taking the old TV network approach and bringing you some summer reruns from our first two seasons. Today’s rerelease is my conversation with Emma Kathryn. We talked about their then new book Witch Life and roaming the woods for mental health as well as that connection to the green world. She has a new book coming out in December 2023, Season Songs: Rediscovering the Magic in the Cycles of Nature, and has started a new podcast project, the Wild Witch Podcast, on Spotify.
Original show notes:
Emma Kathryn was great fun to chat with. Her approach to writing, and magic, is practical and infused with her personal charm and wit. We also manage to squeeze some talk of baking — from the recipes in her book — into our chat.

WitchLit is on a summer hiatus while we settle into our new WitchLit HQ and rather than leave a blank space in the feed, we’re taking the old TV network approach and bringing you some summer reruns from our first two seasons. Today’s rerelease is my conversation with Cory Thomas Hutcheson. Cory graciously— gamely?—agreed to be the first guest on WitchLit and was a huge resource for getting WitchLit off the ground. I’m also proud to announce that 1000Volt Press will be publishing his new book with his podcasting cohost Laine Fuller later this summer. WitchLit is on a summer hiatus while we settle into our new WitchLit HQ and rather than leave a blank space in the feed, we’re taking the old TV network approach and bringing you some summer reruns from our first two seasons. Today’s rerelease is my conversation with Lana Harper. We talked about her New York Times bestselling Thistle Grove series. The first book Payback’s a Witch, has been followed by From Bad to Cursed, Back in a Spell, and the forthcoming In Charm’s Way out in August 2023. It was a delight to talk queer, witchy romance with Lana. If you haven’t picked up the Thistle Grove series, I highly recommend you add it to your to-be-read pile and spend some time in the enchanted small town she has created.
New York Times best-selling author Lana Harper and I talked writing escapist stories, transitioning from writing YA to adult fiction, and why witches continue to be hot in fiction and popular culture. We also talked about hitting that bestseller list and why it was a doubly sweet victory.

Storm Faerywolf is a very busy man. With two books out in 2022, multiple online events, an online store, a new podcast … so glad we got to wedge a chat in there to talk about the importance of naming yourself, making writing your living and the fun and not so fun parts of that, and lots of other maybe non-writing things. Special Episode - A Very Cryptid Christmas panel
Content note: We’re an explicit rated podcast but just in case you listen with littles or at work or something, this episode is pretty much writing about sex with monsters. Enjoy! Maybe with headphones.
Season 3 will start officially next week, with an interview with Storm Faerywolf.
In the interim here’s a special episode with 6 writer friends about our new anthology coming out October 18 with Moon Tan Press. D.S. Dane, Su Fertall, Gemma Snow, E.C. Spaur, Lulu M, Sylvian (previous guest) and Wednesday Wheeler joined me to talk about why we wrote stories about hot cryptic romance for Christmas/Solstice. D.B. Sieders (upcoming guest) couldn’t join us but she got some words in from her family vacation.
Yes, this episode is basically an ad but I was also honored to work with this group of writers, two of which have their debut romance stories published in this anthology, and I think you’ll enjoy meeting them and finding out a little bit about why we all chose the cryptids we did in order to spread some hot holiday cheer.
In the book you’ll encounter a host of cryptids (and mythical creatures) with romance and/or hookups for everyone.
You can preorder the ebook on multiple platforms.
Print books will be available later this year (2022).

WitchLit Pod goes weekly!
This is Victoria dropping into your feed to give you a quick update. The response from writers has been wonderful and we’ve got so many great interviews to share with you that we’re bumping up to a weekly schedule.
Starting next week, April 27th with guest Jason Mankey, there’ll be a new WitchLit episode out every Wednesday. And because making a weekly podcast is a whole other thing, we’re going to take a short break in June before bringing you season two with more great authors and new theme music written just for us.
I also wanted to say thank you to all the guests who’ve already been on the show or done interviews that you’ll get to hear soon. Also, big thanks to everyone who’s messaged to let us know you’re enjoying the show and to the behind the scenes folks who’ve been supportive in other ways.
If you’re a writer of the witchy or the occult and you’d like to be on the show, head over to witchlitpod.com and fill out the Be a Guest form or message me on Instagram @witchlitpod if that’s easier.
Thanks again for listening and for reading witchy.
