PIDGIN: SHARING IS CARING

5 min • 8 september 2022
SHARING IS CARING Proverbs 22:9 Sharing is giving a portion of whatever we have to others, partaking of something with others or granting something to others. We were all taught as children to share, even now, we sometimes receive instructions from loved ones, friends and maybe leaders to share our stuff, good fortunes, talent and skills with others. Do you share? Are you one of those who struggle to give to others, share a little with those around you and ignore the needs staring you in the face? For most people, sharing remains a difficult thing to do, it’s hard to share both ourselves and our resources. I found in the last few months that sharing comes very naturally and easily for some people while others pretended that you are okay and therefore need no help. Galatians 6:2 says to share each other’s troubles and bear each other’s burdens, I suspect that includes offering any help needed that is within our power and capacity to do. We are instructed in Hebrews 13:16 to share physically, materially and financially with those around us, and be good in sharing what we have sacrificially to please God. All through the scriptures we see God’s example of sharing in the way He loves us, sharing His peace, comfort, forgiveness and salvation with us who are not deserving, that’s the same way He expects and wants us to share anything and everything with others. You probably would say, I don’t have enough to share, I don’t make enough money for myself to share with others and 2 Corinthians 9:7 says not to share reluctantly but instead to quantify and to quantify how much of, what, who and when to give and share. God desires that we would want to give to others out of gratitude and love for Him and when we share from the heart, what we share is irrelevant most times as it’s done out of love. Because sharing is caring! Sharing benefits those around us more than we can ever imagine. Imagine being reluctant to share your meal with someone at work because they work as you do and can afford food when that meal could well be the only one they have for the day. We must learn to wrap our sharing in seed form to avoid shame and embarrassment. Among the crowd Jesus ministered to in John 6:1-10, were some who hadn’t eaten all day, those with no food at home or money to buy some, yet a little boy was willing to share his packed lunch of five loaves and two fish. The crowd didn’t deter him from sharing his meal with Jesus, or he could have thought “why, how can I share my meagre meal with the “prophet”? but because of this boy’s love of sharing, thousands were fed. We see a lovely image of sharing in Acts 2:42-47. The community, the body of Christ, and the family of God lacked nothing because people were willing to share everything that you couldn’t tell who had too much or too little because they loved and lived as one, and had all things in common, with each person sharing voluntarily. Sometimes we don’t share because we assume they don’t deserve it but our duty to God and man is to share from a loving heart. Sharing portrays caring!
