In this interesting talk, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi directs his discussion on two fundamental aspects - issue of Fadak and the Battles of Ridda.
We understand that an agreement was mutually consented on between the people of Fadak and the Prophet ﷺ for avoiding an attack and how the remuneration received was utilized by the Messenger ﷺ for the betterment of the Ummah. Also, issues pertaining to inheritance of the wives and the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, Fatima RA are elaborated in the talk by the Shaykh. The next point of discussion is the role played by Abu Bakr RA in dealing with this and how it affected the relation between Fatima RA and Abu Bakr RA.
The next topic that the Shaykh delves into is the battle of Ridda and the reasons for its commence. The acceptance of Islam by many tribes was never for their love of Eeman and Islam. They had hidden intentions some of which were:
Reintroduction of Jahiliyyah and idolatry.
Introduction and belief in new Prophets in spite of behaving entirely like Muslims such as Musaylamah and Sajjah.
Cessation of Zakat amongst people.
