In this interesting and reflective video, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi attempts to shed some light and get acquainted with the meaning of the companions (the Sahaba) and the Sunni Muslims' beliefs about the Sahaba from the Qur'an and the Sunnah.
We are made aware of the classification of the Sahabas and how there are 12 categories that can be enumerated and are as follows:
Those who accepted Islam from the beginning of Makkah, for instance, Abu Bakr RA .
Those who accepted Islam in Darun Nadwah such as Umar Ibn khattab RA.
Those who emigrated to Abyssinia.
Those who gave the first Uhd Al Aqabah
Those who gave the second Uhd Al Aqabah.
Those who emigrated to Madinah.
Those who are amongst the Badriyoon.
Those who emigrated between Badr and Hudaibiyah.
Those who participated in Baiah Ridhwan.
Those who emigrated after the Treaty of Hudaibiyah and before the conquest of Makkah such as Khalid Ibn Waleed RA.
Those who converted to Islam after the conquest of Makkah.
Those who were the young children who were not baaligh but had seen the Prophet ﷺ and had memories of him.
For further explanation on these categories and much more, do listen to the talk which is a revelation of sorts on the great companions who have walked the face of this earth.
