Allah wants us to taste the consequence of some of our misdeeds in this world. It is a trial that brings us closer to Allah SWT. Allah has praised patience in the Qur'an like nothing else. Patience can only come in the face of a calamity. Calamities and afflictions remind us this world is not our ultimate destination.
