I wasn't particularly a big fan of Gabriel's last orchestral effort "Scratch My Back" so I wasn't expecting much from this bumper release. The set contains a blu-ray, DVD, and 2 CD albums - covering all the facets of the Live Blood/New Bood project.

This time I take a look at a band hailing from Italy that under the guiding light of Peter Sinfield and ELP had a little bit of success outside their native isles.

I've had enough time to cogitate and ruminate over the worthiness of the new Pink Floyd "Discovery" box set. The bottom line is: is this any better than than the "Oh, By The Way" set released a couple of years back? The answer to that is simple: no.

The new 40th anniversary edition of this album arrived yesterday and so I busied myself to prepare a review for you. This is a very tiring record to listen to as you have to divide your attention between all the guitar parts.
Don't forget to give this video a thumbs up if you like it and to subscribe for future updates.

The latest batch of King Crimson 40th Anniversary edition have been released and my copy of "Starless and Bible Black" arrived today. I was naturally keen to hear what they had done to the album with regards to the 5.1 surround sound mix and was pleasantly surprised by the renewed power of the album.

I am registered with a website called "Sentric Music" and this site supposedly finds music for adverts and whatever promotional contracts it is handling. They often send out emails requesting a certain type of song for a project and usually it is some kind of indie-rock genre that I am not interesting in covering. However, last Friday they sent a brief out for an advert for a mobile phone company and wanted something suitably twee and spacey. This is my attempt at a track for them. I doubt it will get picked but this was recorded specifically for a mobile phone advert. So there you go...

And now for something completely different...
This is me reading the first chapter of my novel "Dead Rock Star". I've never done this before, so please excuse the bits where I flub things up and get a little off-kilter.
This novel is now available to purchase in eBook format (Kindle compatible) at the following online stores at a unfeasibly low, low introductory price:
http://www.lulu.com/product/ebook/dead-rock-star/16116045
Amazon US:

Amazon UK:

And coming soon to iBookstore!
If you like it, drop me a comment on my website www.darrenlock.com and I'll record the second chapter (not sure if that's more of a threat than a treat).
And here is the MP3 audio of my improvisation.

And here is the MP3 of the performnace.
Enjoy!
This is a rough idea I put down recently. I haven't done any serious recording for about five months, so whenever I return to active recording duty I always just mess around playing the simplest things just so I can get my fingers back into some sort of shape. Hence this song is as basic as it gets - however, good songs sometimes come from these basic frameworks.
This recording also marks my debut recording using my iMac DAW and was put down using Logic Studio.
This is a tune I recorded a long time ago called "Like Adam & Eve" you can purchase it from the iTunes store here: http://bit.ly/kp4VIU
This video was edited from my first YouTube video entitled "My Ashbory Bass" and I cleaned up the video and present it here.
Enjoy!
