Enter the Kingdom of the Cults with Cultish; a program that explores the impact of the cults from a theological, sociological, and psychologicalperspective. Immerse yourself in the thinking, teaching, strategies, and consequences born out of the nefarious leaders of these movements.
The podcast Cultish is created by Jeremiah Roberts, Andrew Soncrant. The podcast and the artwork on this page are embedded on this page using the public podcast feed (RSS).
This week, we kick off a three-week deep dive into the International Christian Church (ICC) with a look at the current split within the movement. Many ICC members are choosing to leave and join the Restored Church Worldwide (RCW), forcing a tough decision: remain in the ICC to preserve its unity, which they’ve believed to be “the very Movement of God,” or follow other disciples into a new movement that’s excited to restore the Book of Acts in this generation. In this episode, countercult apologist Steve Matthews and former longtime ICC member Coltin Rohn examine the growing divide between the ICC and RCW, offering a third alternative grounded in Scripture for struggling ICC disciples. Don't miss this powerful episode, and be sure to tune in next week as we continue our deep dive into the roots of the ICC, the International Churches of Christ, and the Campbell-Stone Restoration Movement that laid the foundation for the creation of the Boston Church of Christ in 1979.

In Part 3 We continue examining the history of Islam from their struggle with the rising power of the Mongols, to their connection with the Ottoman Empire, through the reformation times, and ultimately to 9/11 and modern day.
Our guest James Rayment guides us through how this history leads to the beginning of an internal decline within Islam and addresses the reality of a threat level for the Western world today. We dig into interesting topics in this episode like the language translation of the Quran and how Martin Luther was involved, and the origins of the Crescent Moon symbolism found in Islamic flags and culture today. Part three concludes with discussing the rise and fall of the caliphate and how this led to ISIS and Al Qaida’s differing goals.

James Rayment helps train churches to understand what Islam is as a worldview and who Muslims are as people to help Christians build effective communication. As they begin their deep dive multi-series into Islam, guest James Rayment teaches us where to begin when approaching the massive topic of the Islamic worldview, and how to approach the many different layers and views of the Muslim people in a respectful and educated way. In this episode we begin with the basic history of Muhammad and his initial encounter with revelation and how this movement spread across Arabia. We also discuss how Muhammad pulled a political influence in his time and how this political influence affects the modern Arab world and beyond today.

In our latest series,
In our latest series, we join forces with Summer & Joy from the Sheologians podcast & explore the Margret Atwoods dark dystopian vision portrayed in her best selling novel & now television series “The Handmaid's Tale”.
Since it’s television debut on Hulu in 2017, “The Handmaid's Tale” has not only become one of the most binged television shows in history, but it has also become its own independent symbol for “Women’s Rights” in today’s intense political climate.
Why has Atwood’s unique vision of an oppressive dystopian society where women are portrayed as second-class citizens resonated with so many & how do we respond to the underlying worldviews that are propagated in both the book & television show?
Come along with us as we join forces with Joy & Summer from Sheologians to “Un-tell” The Handmaid's Tale.
In the second part of our series, Jeremiah & Andrew are joined once again by Dr. Robyn Hall (Dr. Mindhunter) and discuss the victimology of those slain by the Manson family at 10050 Cielo Drive.
We also delve into Charlie’s extended life of crime that landed him in prison.
How did Charlie's worldview and musical influences develop while in prison?
Tune in now to learn how Charlie's upbringing and time behind bars led to the influence and the formulation of the Manson family.
⠀
This is the 2nd part of our extended true-crime series.
In Part 2 of our series, we continue our discussion with former Mormon Missionary Dan Tate who served a 2 year mission in Jacksonville, Florida. During that time on his mission, Apostle Russell M Nelson (now currently the residing Mormon prophet) came and gave a talk at his one of his missionary gatherings and said something incredibly revealing about the ultimate purpose of missionaries out on the field. Curious about what was said and how its related to the expansion of the Mormon Empire? Tune in to Find out!
Episode 1: Mormon Missionary Lessons Have you ever wondered what a missionary would teach if you invited them in? Have you ever been confused with how similar the LDS terminology is compared to Christian terminology, when you KNOW they are different gospels? As an introduction to this series, we start off from ground zero; the process of a missionary applying for service, the missionary training center (MTC), and the culture surrounding the Missionary's departure. With our returning guest Daniel Tate, we jump back in time when he first turned his Missionary Papers in 10 years ago, and the steps he took to prepare for a long 2 years of service.
Join us for this exclusive as we talk with Briell Decker who offers a unique first hand perspective of what it was really like growing up in the FLDS. ( Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) At the age of 18, she became and the 65th wife of Warren Jeffs who's considered by many as one of the most notorious cult leaders in American History.
We hope you all ejoy the 1st part of this incrediable conversation. Please consider supporting was at https://thecultishshow.com/donate to help this program to continue and give survivors like Brielle a voice.
In the first part of our series, we talk with Jennifer Brewer who is the author of "Free: From Legalism to Grace Breaking Out of the United Pentecostal Church".
Jennifer was raised since childhood in the UPC and has a unique insiders perspective on what its really like always being looked at and measured up from the length of your skirts and being told if you cut our hair, it means you are severing your relationship with God and would be losing the power you had from the angels to keep your family together.
We discuss this and much more in the 1st part of this series!
In part 1 we discuss the definition and ramifications of the word “conspiracy” and legal standards of evidence for a claim. We then talk about Jeffrey Epstein’s early life and his mysterious rise in the financial sector while claiming to be an intelligence agent and being involved in the Iran-Contra Affair. We discuss Epstein's connections to some of the most infamous spies in history as well as prior precedent for the US Government being compromised by nefarious organizations. We discuss recently declassified FBI documents relating to a mysterious cult of child traffickers named “The Finders” that were active from the 50s to 1993 and how they may relate to Epstein. Specifically we discuss the connections between the Finders and the US intelligence community, the Finders' mysterious and nefarious activities and then tie Epstein to being the legacy of the Finders organization through their mutual ties to the intelligence community and their shared activities that hint at a shared role. Our guest for this segment is Andrew Morrow, an attorney.
Is Kanye West a Masonic Illuminati puppet pretending to be a Christian in hopes of leading the church into a one-world religion under the anti-Christ? Are we witnessing the beginning of a pseudo-Christian cult produced by the world elite for the purpose of leading the church into apostasy? According to some corners of the body of Christ, and even according to some ministries, the answer to these questions is a resounding yes. Kanye is definitely a secret-society member working for Satan’s Kingdom, hiding his true agenda in plain site through symbolism. But are these charges rooted in objective, factual evidence that should hold up in God’s courtroom? And are those who bring these charges to the public abiding by God’s standard of due-process, fair trial, and righteous judgement from a presumption of innocence? Are we giving an answer before we hear (Pro. 18:13), and coming to a conclusion prior to cross-examination (Pro. 18:17)? In this episode, guest Steven Bancarz joins us to take a deeper look into the good, the bad, and the Cultish about Kanye West’s conversion. We will examine the Bibles standard of discernment, the Bibles standard of righteous judgement and due process, how we should interact with phenomena like this as a church, while also diving deep to cross-examine some of the charges that are being launched against him.
During the October LDS General Conference meeting of 2019 in Salt Lake City, the Super Sleuth and Brother Wade were able to sit down and chat with Sandra Tanner. Sandra talked about how she met her Husband Jerald while giving a brief overview on the history of Mormonism.
In part 3 of our dialogue with Bethel attendee Elijah Stephens , we discus some important theological issues brought up in our initial series Defecting From Bethel.
What does Bill Johnson really believe and teach about Jesus Christ? Does their message just have an unhealthy view of signs and wonders or should they be put into the same category of Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses?
Tune into this important dialogue and be part of the conversation.
In our latest episode of Cultish, we are joined by Lance Sorenson who shares what it was like growing up as a Mormon in Provo, Utah. Even as a young child he began to question and have doubts about major changes taking place within the LDS at the time. This eventually led him to leave the church in-spite of the intense sociological pressure surrounding him. We hope you all enjoy this conversation as much as we did!
In this highly anticipated follow-up to our initial series on Bethel, Co-Hosts Jeremiah Roberts and Andrew “SuperSlueth” Soncrant are joined in studio by 2 special guests to have this important discussion on the New Age Infiltration of the church.
-Doreen Virtue spent 22 years as a psychic, mystic, and medium - writing over 70+ New Age books on everything from Crystal Therapy to Angel Communication before Jesus saved her and she renounced her old practices.
-Melissa Dougherty spent a large portion of her young adulthood in New Thought (Law of Attraction) before renouncing those beliefs, and she now helps others do the same.
Their passion is to bring awareness to New Age teachings and practices that have infiltrated Bethel, as it appears to be indicative of many Christians either welcoming, or being unaware of, New Age practices within the Church.
Are New Age and Occultic practices irredeemable spiritual narcotics, or can we extract precious truths hidden within them because they really belong to the Kingdom of God?
We want to invite all those who have attended, and especially those who currently attend, Bethel Church in Redding, California to listen in and be part of this important conversation.
n Part 3 we wrap things up with our guests discussing some concerns regarding The Alabaster Prayer House and briefly discuss whether or not Christians should practice Yoga or use the Enneagram.

In Part 3 of this highly anticipated Cultish exclusive, co-host Jeremiah Roberts wraps up this compelling conversation with former BSSM student Lindsay Davis.
Just a few weeks ago, Lindsay created much controversy with the announcement that she was expelled from the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry for publicly speaking out against the school.
Why did this happen?
What caused her to doubt Bethel’s cause and begin to think differently than she had a few months prior?
In this three-part series, we speak in depth with Lindsay Davis about her time at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry and discover what makes this worldwide movement so alluring.
We also discuss some very concerning psychological and sociological cultish behaviors which line up with descriptions given by experts like Steven Hassan and Rick Allen Ross, who have extensively researched recent cultish movements in the United States.
Most importantly, we discuss the theological cultish behaviors that fall under Walter Martin’s classic definition:
“ a group of people gathered around a specific person or person’s misinterpretation of the Bible. “
Additionally, we explore the physical and supernatural manifestations happening at Bethel, which brings up the question: are these experiences movements of God, psychosomatic episodes, or something else?
Could it be possible to experience healing and the supernatural apart from God?
There is no doubt that Bethel Church has worldwide influence, and because of this, it is imperative to have this conversation.
We invite you, regardless of where you stand on this issue, to be part of this conversation and listen to Lindsay’s story with an open mind.

In Part 2, Jeff Durbin and Jeremiah Roberts are joined once again by cultish contributor Alexandar Larson as they continue their navigation through The Postmodern Maze of Mormonism.
What are the true reasons behind the dramatic postmodern shift in thinking taking place within the LDS church?
Could these shifts lead to the creation of another young, charismatic, modern-day Joseph Smith or Warren Jeffs-perhaps fragmenting this empire even further?
We also take a look into some of the dark origins and culture of this fascinating and evolving American religion.
In these long awaited episodes, we finally dive into the splintering world of the Mormon Empire and give our state of the union address to the current affairs happening in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Co-hosts Jeff Durbin and Jeremiah Roberts are joined by Alexandar Larson, who spent nearly thirty years growing up within the state of Utah. There, he witnessed first-hand the underbelly of undue Mormon influence on the culture of Utah.
The origins of Mormonism began in the early 1800's, when its leader Joseph Smith claimed to receive a private revelation: the true church of Jesus Christ needed to be restored because all other churches were in a state of apostasy. Since the founding of the LDS church, substantial changes have been made to their doctrine, but nothing compares to the post modern fragmentation that’s occurred the last twenty years.
Why are the reasons behind these shifts?
The answers may surprise you.

Is it possible that A.I. machines (Artificial Intelligence) will surpass us as a species?
Is the rapid development of A.I. on the global scene and religions being created around them a sign of the end times?
Our answers may surprise you.

It is through the “martyrdom” of children who refuse lifesaving treatment, to the Governing Body with a perversion of God’s Law are turning a blind eye to the sexual abuse, pedophilia, and molestation that plagues the organization that the Cultish trio will show how the sorrows of those who run after another god multiply.
Jeff will then lead a discussion on the proper application of the general equity of God’s law and how it applies today, while sending hope in the Gospel to victims of sexual assault/rape and countless others who have been hurt by these policies, a hope rooted in Christ alone.

After going undercover for the Church of Scientology posing as an ex member, Andrea had a radical discovery that caused her to question and rethink everything she knew while she served as a high ranking member in the Church of Scientology.
Join us for the 4th premiere episode of the much-anticipated new program from the creators at Apologia Studios: Escaping Scientology. The cult of Scientology has received much attention after the numerous popular documentaries on the group; including Leah Remini’s series “Scientology and the Aftermath”. The science-fiction writer, L. Ron Hubbard, may have never imagined the results, scope, and reach of the cult that he created in the 20th-century. Many have not truly discovered the spiritual, social, and psychological damage and manipulation of this very dangerous non-Christian cult.
What does a Scientologist believe? What is it like to live like a Scientologist? Is this a harmless “religion” or something much more dangerous? Are the stories true of the physical danger that someone can be in for attempting to escape from Scientology?
Listen-in as Jeremiah Roberts and Pastor Jeff Durbin speak with Andrea Schwartz. Andrea and her husband were members of the Cult of Scientology. They worked as faithful Scientologists at recruiting new members and were involved in some very deceptive schemes of this group. After becoming Christians they worked to expose some of the activity of this cult. They were interviewed by a major television broadcast and they were told by law-enforcement that there was a contract out on their lives. Over 900-lives were lost (over 300 were children) under the leadership of a very complicated and dangerous cult-leader.
Jim Jones was a confused and dangerous man. He started his work as a professing Christian and as a Christian minister. However, later in his life, he distanced himself from the Judeo-Christian faith and worldview and embraced and promoted a militant Communist and Socialist vision. Jones was known for his passionate pleas for a Communist vision of the world. He was a zealous and passionate speaker who used his abilities and perversion of the Christian bible to lead hundreds to drink poisonous Kool-Aid as an act of “revolutionary suicide”.
