This is the fifteenth and last installment in the UFC/Banana/Guatemala series.
Rodolfo and I finish discussing the film La Llorona. We get into some of the more spiritual themes of the film. We sincerepost and share our thoughts on spirituality more generally. This leads to a discussion of family ghost stories, and we each share one.

Diving deeply into the claims made in the film La Llorona, I examine the question of Guatemala's oil industry in the wake of the 1954 coup and onwards, especially during La Violencia. As it turns out, most of the story deals with a company named Basic Resources International SA, or BRISA.
BRISA was owned by Sir James Goldsmith, a very curious man from a curious family. A corporate raider, far-right donor, and backer of private military contractor companies. I discuss the relationship between conservation movements and PMCs, and how the Goldsmith family backed both.
This leads me to discuss the privatization of intelligence, such as Six Eye / 6I, and Goldsmith's ties to Le Cercle. That, in turn, leads to a discussion of the P2 Lodge which itself loops right back to Banco Ambrosiano and would you look at that - BRISA again.
Then, I lay out BRISA's money moves and acquisitions next to the events of La Violencia and it starts to look more and more like the genocide was to move the Mayans off oil-rich lands. Finally, I find the piece of the puzzle to connect BRISA to the genocide directly via the case of General Vernon Walters.
Then, I cite several key examples which strengthen the hypothesis. After that, I explain what happened to the Guatemalan oil industry afterwards, where Guatemalan gangs came from, and why Guatemala continues to be unstable. I am joined by Rodolfo (from the Bolaño series) to discuss the 2019 Guatemalan film La Llorona, which features a lightly fictionalized account of a Montt stand-in and deals with the psychic and spiritual fallout from La Violencia. We discuss about half of the film's plot which led us to one of the throwaway lines in the film - the question of Guatemalan mineral rights.

I pick back up with Efraín Ríos Montt's pacification plan known as Victoria 82, informally known as Fusiles y Frijoles, or Rifles and Beans. Montt established secret courts, a scorched-earth military campaign and utilized counterinsurgency troops.
I share my personal experience with survivors of these incidents. I also read from a work of fiction, Senselessness by Horacio Castellanos Moya which more eloquently captures what it is like to be confronted by these stories. Then, I read an extended passage from a truth and reconciliation report from just one of the many massacres of Finca San Francisco Nenton in Huehuetenango.
I discuss political opposition to the genocide. I also discuss the concentration camp program created with help from Israeli military advisors - they spoke frankly about the Palestinianisation of Guatemala. Further, the Israeli military provided arms and even a computer system which was used to compile death lists comparable to those of IBM and the Holocaust.
In August 1983, Montt was deposed in a bloodless military coup. I discuss Guatemala in the broader Cold War and World Anti-Communist League context. Then, I examine Montt's mental state during La Violencia and raise the serious possibility that he was a controlled asset. I trace the history of La Iglesia El Verbo, Gospel Outreach, this broader Dominionist theology, and Pat Robertson's investment portfolio. To end the episode, I lay out the claims of an anonymous internet commenter who claims to have been present at Montt's baptism in Eureka, California, and for other darker events. More on Guatemala's mineral rights soon. Songs: Selections from Uaxuctum by Giacinto Scelsi Luna de Xelajú performed by Gaby Moreno & Oscar Isaac

A brief parenthetical before continuing with the story of the Guatemalan genocide, I decided to do an episode just for me (and the like three other Mormon listeners) about the Mormon church in Guatemala, though I think this will still be instructive.
The history begins with a Mormon named John Forres O’Donnal who was hired to the US Department of Agriculture’s new agency, the Office of Rubber Plant Investigations and sent to Guatemala and more or less developed Guatemala's rubber industry for US strategic purposes. More or less downstream from that, Mormonism began to flow as a consequence of his presence in the country. Church leaders visited and US missionaries began to arrive in the 1950s after the 1954 coup.
A former Mormon missionary who learned Mayan languages went back to BYU and worked on creating the Cakchiquel Basic Course through funding via a grant from the U.S. Department of Health, Education & Welfare; this was published in 1969, and then expanded and republished in 1977. It is very likely that this program also received NSA funding as discussed in the Puzzle Palace by James Bamford. In turn, this facility with Mayan languages would have been used during the Guatemalan Civil War for counterinsurgency purposes.
Then, I tell the story of Cordell Andersen, a biological warfare doctor from a family with a biological weapons background. Andersen served a mission in Guatemala; later in life he would relocate his family to Guatemala where he became a farmer/landowner, entrepreneur, and vaccination enthusiast. He ran the Foundation (sometimes the Center) for Indian Development and later on, the Guatemalan Foundation which attempted to win the hearts and minds of indigenous Guatemalans. The O'Donnal and Andersen families were accused of stealing and selling war orphans from Guatemala. I cover this particular story as far as I can take it and discuss the heinous yet common trade in children in Guatemala, both through orphanages and international adoptions, and the darker shit too. This, in turn, brings us back to the very far-right networks destabilizing Guatemala in the first place. I also discuss Alex Jones's family in Guatemala around the same time, which is to say, the various and variously-supported pieces of evidence that he comes from an intelligence family background. Most of the Anglo Mormons active in the country around the same time have comparable histories and it is instructive to compare them. I go over my personal experiences with Guatemala and I discuss the history of the Guatemala City Temple and the ironic Shining Path connection to the O'Donnal story. I crunch some baptism and conversion statistics and come to some interesting conclusions about periods of church growth and civil unrest, and the nature of the Mormon church itself. Songs: various selections from documentaries about Cordell Andersen and his organizations Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down (traditional) performed by Uncle Tupelo

Efraín Ríos Montt's presidency was the nadir of Guatemala's 36-year civil war, and the worst period of violence - la violencia - took place during it. I begin by discussing his upbringing, class background, and early career as a Guatemalan military officer. He was trained at the School of the Americas (now WHINSEC) in Georgia as well as at Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty) in North Carolina as well as the Italian War College and Fort Gulick (aka the School of the Assassins) in the Panama Canal Zone.
Montt converted to evangelical christianity of a variety taught by La Iglesia El Verbo, the Church of the Word, which was itself a mission of Gospel Outreach, US-based church which was an outgrowth of the older pentecostal movement, but even more accurately, Gospel Outreach was part of the Jesus Freak movement of the 60s and 70s. Gospel Outreach was started by a US Naval officer who took over an existing Jesus Freak outfit and got them to proselytize in some geopolitically hot locations (such as Guatemala). As is so often the case, too, credible allegations have been made against Gospel Outreach about the abuse of minors.
In March 1982, in response to URNG advances, factions within the Guatemalan military carried out a coup and installed a three-man junta including Montt. Montt soon consolidated power as the president, and immediately afterwards Pat Robertson was promoting Montt on the 700 Club. Montt suspended the constitution, launched an ambitious new plan for the moral regeneration of Guatemala, and consolidated his power further in preparation for genocide. By 1970, the literal former head of a death squad was running Guatemala - Colonel Carlos Manuel Arana Osorio. He took the death squad model to the next level, and disappearances skyrocketed. In 1972, the survivors of FAR formed the EGP (Ejército Guerrillero de los Pobres, or the Guerrilla Army of the Poor) and shifted from foquismo to a protracted people's war model of insurgency.
I discuss the Catholic church's complicated legacy in Guatemala on both sides of the political spectrum. I discuss Liberation Theology, the Melville Affair, and CUC (Comite de Unidad Campesina, or the Committee for Peasant Unity) which interacted with the EGP.
I explain the major earthquake of February 1976 which triggered the influx of foreign missionaries which would have wild repercussions. I go over the 1980 Spanish Embassy Massacre. In 1982, URNG was formed - Unidad Revolucionaria Nacional Guatemalteca, or Guatemalan National Revolutionary Unity. There was a serious possibility that Guatemala would have a revolution similar to the one that occurred in Nicaragua in 1979. This context is important to understand what is to come.

Most stories of the 1954 coup end shortly thereafter. We continue with Guatemala barreling right into the Guatemalan Civil War. I start with the Justice Department's antitrust case against United Fruit Company in the immediate aftermath of the 1954 coup.
From there, I go into the curious case of Carlos Manuel Pellecer, a "communist firebrand" who was causing problems for the Arbenz government. Before the coup, I found declassified CIA documents showing Pellecer's seance to contact the ghost of Josef Stalin. In the wake of the coup, it eventually became clear that Pellecer was a longtime CIA informant.
[note: I didn't realize when writing these episodes but the Jon Lee Anderson biography of Che laid out Guevara's suspicions of Pellecer, of which I was unaware. Che clocked Pellecer, too, lol]
In November 30, 1960, a faction of left-leaning Guatemalan military officers began an uprising which is generally viewed as the start of the 36-year Guatemalan civil war. They were responding to Bay of Pigs training bases in Guatemala as one of several direct instigations.
Meanwhile, various other groups were beginning their respective wars against the Guatemalan government including the frequently-banned Guatemalan Labor Party. Eventually, this would coalesce as the FAR, (Fuerzas Armadas Rebeldes, or Rebel Armed Forces) which received Cuban support. In response, President Kennedy signed off on a pacification plan which would escalate to near-Vietnam proportions. A series of increasingly right-wing presidents would then take office, each one with the novel premise of taking a hard line with the rebels. Formal death squads began to form, and US counterinsurgency troops coincidentally appeared around the same time. Each power base in Guatemalan society had their own respective death squads, and foreign fascists also appear to have blooded combatants in extrajudicial killings in Guatemala. Finally, I discuss what appears to be a bust-out of UFC at the hands of strange con men and mafia elements including Eli Black (Leon Black's father) and Carl Lindner Jr. (Ohio ice cream billionaire), eventually acquired by Chiquita. Songs: The American Way by Sacred Reich Banana Phone by Raffi

I open by discussing Operation SHERWOOD, the CIA's covert attempt to support Castillo Armas' invasion, run by Tracy Barnes and David Atlee Phillips, intentionally modeled after Orson Welles' infamous 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast.
From there, I discuss the invasion proper, the Guatemalan government's diplomatic and military responses, and the chances of success without US air support. I go through the various causes of Arbenz's sudden resignation and attempt to weigh the pros and cons of continued resistance. I also attempt to evaluate the US national security state's evaluation of these events, especially through the lens of the Bay of Pigs invasion which would include so many of the same actors.
I cover what types of teams the CIA sent in after the coup and what they left in their wake, including plans for the creation of death squads, hit lists, and an overview of methods and training of said assassins, which included the infamous CIA manual on assassinations. I discuss Armas' initial actions, both punitive and compensatory, including paying back various Americans who assisted him. Then returned the US mafiosi, one of whom may have actually killed Armas in 1957.
I lay out what happened to most participants in the 1954 coup, and then tell the story of a plucky Argentine doctor caught up in the madness of Guatemalan history. Songs: Hit Mane by Maxo Kream Luces y Sombras by Alberto Iglesias Piano Theme by Michael Gordon Fusil Contra Fusil by Silvio Rodriguez
[originally published on Patreon March 13, 2024]
I begin the episode with the elephant in the room - the Dulles brothers owning United Fruit Company stock. I explore Sullivan & Cromwell's connections to UFC as well as the Cabot family's ownership of UFC stock, and other government insiders. Depending on your inclinations, you can tell the story of the 1954 coup from the perspective of UFC or the CIA, but as it turns out, UFC and CIA were working symbiotically the whole time and were influencing each other in complicated feedback-loop ways.
I tell the story of Operation PBFORTUNE, the CIA's first attempt to overthrow the Arbenz government. Before that point, UFC hired Edward Bernays to promote the sale of bananas and to manage PR via weaponizing the Red Scare to go from the defensive to the offensive.
I discuss the dire state of US journalism about Guatemala. I go into the CIA's infiltration into the American Federation of Labor's attempts to do labor organizing in Guatemala. Then came the lobbying, with UFC first buying Democrats via Tommy the Cork Corcoran, then Republicans via John Clements. They acquired Castillo Armas, of whom much will be spoken soon.
Along the way, InterArmCo and Howard Hughes show up, and various Latin American countries were bought off. Arbenz outwitted the State Department's arms embargo but lost the war when their covert weapons purchase was revealed in the press. I argue that Arbenz was not the political babe in the woods or naif that he's been made out to be. Finally, I cover Guatemala's increasing isolation on the world stage before the events of June 1954. Songs: Why the Kremlin Hates Bananas Chiquita Bananas Commercial Banana Co by Radiohead
[originally published on Patreon February 27, 2024]
I begin with an extended meditation about Arbenz's position in 1951 and the state of the Guatemalan economy. This leads to a discussion of Decree 900, the agrarian reform bill which was passed in 1952. I discuss what it did and did not entail and compare it to Mexico's agrarian reform law as well as the US Alliance for Progress recommendations later. Despite this, United Fruit Company's leadership began to close ranks and draw up battle plans. That leads us to a natural question: who exactly owned UFC, anyway?
I discuss UFC ownership particularly through the various boards of directors both before and after the Zemurray era. Unsurprisingly, it consists of many Boston Brahmins and, for lack of a better term, the Power Elite from the US, the UK, and Germany. At one point, the Swedes try, successfully, to buy in.
I make a major tangent via UFC vice president Arthur Pollan and his feud with Honduran communist Manuel Cálix Herrera, whose story I also share. Then, discussing Zemurray's new guard, I bring up Hillyer Vaughn Rolston and the curious case of the Rolston Letter. The Rolston Letter is like a mini-Dreyfus Affair, which occurred shortly before la gran huelga de 1954, the great strike of 1954 in Honduras.
I analyze various analyses of the Rolston letter which allows us to discuss the Honduran coup of 2009. This, in turn, allows us to discuss the less-known ZEDES, or economic development zones, which are attempting to break up and sell off Honduran sovereignty piece by piece, as in the case of Próspera in Roatán, Honduras. Finally, I discuss the occulted nature of family trusts and how the blood-soaked stolen wealth of Central America exists in perpetuity in New England sending many a failson and faildaughter to clown colleges or academic sinecures for perpetuity. note: I wrote the baleada thread after I wrote this episode, and it weaves through much of this history - https://twitter.com/JimmyFalunGong/status/1755993585890054451 Songs: Wealth Won’t Save Your Soul by Hank Williams Jr. El Machangay, a song from the Great Strike of 1954 Verde by Manzanita
[originally published on Patreon February 27, 2024]
I begin discussing Guatemala as early as possible - the Olmec and Mayan civilizations, and the 200 year bloody pacification war against them by the Spanish conquistadores and the Captaincy General of Guatemala.
From there, I jump to Manuel Estrada Cabrera, the president from 1898 to 1920. Cabrera was the president who began signing vast concessions over to Minor Keith, IRCA, and therefore UFC. Cabrera was unseated by Guatemala's National Assembly.
Next, I discuss Jorge Ubico, president from 1931 to 1944. Ubico oversaw the forced transfer of Mayans into the wage labor economy via taxation and anti-vagrancy laws, which was fitting because he was basically a fascist.
This led to the Guatemalan Revolution of 1944 - the other October Revolution. The revolution of 1944 led to the 10 Years of Spring from 1945 to 1955. I go through Juan Jose Arévalo, president from 1945 - 1951, and his apparently genuine if misguided attempts at Arevalismo, or spiritual socialism.
I briefly cover Jacobo Arbenz's election as president, knowing full well that we will have to take our time with Arbenz and the events surrounding his presidency.

In this episode I discuss Colombia's relationship to United Fruit Company aka El Pulpo. In particular, I open with the massive strikes against UFC in 1928 culminating in the massacre at Ciénaga which was so memorably fictionalized in Gabriel García Márquez's Cien años de soledad.
From there, I discuss the curious case of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán and his assassination in 1948 which triggered El Bogotazo, a wave of civil unrest and violence that would affect Colombia for years to come. I discuss the Rosicrucian-brainwashed patsy shooter Juan Roa Sierra and his manipulation by a German astrologer spy named Johann Umland Gerät.
It gets even weirder as a track down claims by a Sicilian-American WWII vet named John Meeples Espirito who appears to have been involved in Operation ARTICHOKE and who found his way to revolutionary Cuba. When arrested, he told Cuban intelligence of his role in the assassination of Gaitán - claims which Cuban intelligence could never definitively prove and so did not widely publish.
The potential reason for that, according to some, was because of Fidel Castro's role and actions in El Bogotazo, which remains obscured, as through a glass darkly. Much remains unknown.

Today I discuss more criminals involved in the banana trade, introducing the Vaccaro Brothers and Sam the Banana Man Zemurray. I discuss that intersection between organized crime and Wall Street that intersected precisely in the banana trade through these figures.
I go through Zemurray's career, from his start in Alabama, his Cuyamel Fruit Company, the Honduran coup of 1911 and the concurrent takeover of Honduran national debt by JP Morgan bank, and the ensuing takeover of Honduras by United Fruit Company. Then, I discuss Zemurray's takeover of United Fruit Company (brokered by Sullivan & Cromwell) as well as the decisions Zemurray took at the helm of the company.
After that, I discuss Zemurray's role in the creation of the modern state of Israel, especially regarding the multiple votes at the United Nations for the Partition Plan for Palestine in 1947. Then, I cannot avoid discussing Zemurray's children who just so happened to have become scholars of Central American studies.
[note: at the time I wrote and recorded this episode, I had not purchased The Heritage of the Conquistadors: Ruling Classes in Central America from Conquest to the Sandinistas by "Samuel Z. Stone", but I subsequently purchased the book and confirmed that it does not mention Samuel Zemurray or Cuyamel whatsoever. The book does mention United Fruit Company, though the author does not see fit to mention that his grandfather at one time ran said company.] Finally, I end the episode mentioning the Melville Collective's guerrilla actions against UFC offices in 1969. Today is the opening salvo for a 15-part series on the rolling waves of crimes involving the Octopus that is United Fruit Company, the banana trade, Guatemala specifically, and Central America more generally, culminating in the Guatemalan Genocide.
In this episode, I discuss the origins of the Octopus. aka Boston Fruit Company aka the United Fruit Company aka the New Orleans Banana Trust. I know for a fact that much of this history has not been pulled together in this way before.
I trace the official and sanctioned history of Boston Fruit Company via Lorenzo Dow Baker, Andrew Preston, and get into less savory types such as Henry Meiggs and JP Macheca. I cover how Preston and Meiggs used railroad construction as land-grab exercises which also necessarily required slave labor. This in turn spawned the Banana Wars including an approximate 28 different interventions/invasions in 11+ countries.
Along the way I go over the Innocenti and related quasi-masonic quasi-klan terrorist groups, the Reconstruction-era wars with the federal government, the growth of Italian/Italian-American organized crime, the Crescent City Lynchings, and how it all intersected with the fruit trade. Here we see con men and mafiosi in bed with Wall Street, fucking over Central America in unison. This sets the stage for what is to come.

As if I didn't discuss the Tupamaros enough, I revisit the story in light of even more information I found. In particular, I look at a RAND report on the MLN-T and cross-reference it with several more books on the group. This leads us to the interestingly-named Plan Satán, as well as much more context for the Mitrione kidnapping. I also found more information on the Nixon administration's decisions at the time.
Then, CJ and I act out a dramatic reading of Dialogue Before Death (1971), a portion of Mitrione's interrogation tapes by Tupamaros. We also discuss the curious publisher of this book, as well as more on the calculations that went into the decision to execute him.
Then, I look at an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the MLN-T through the eyes of one of their inspirations - Abraham Guillén, author of Estrategia de la guerrilla urbana (1969), as well as similar assessments made in the International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence. I make a major tangent looking at the "Abraham Guillen Press/Arm the Spirit" publisher.
I make a few final notes about the Tupamaros including that they confirmed Hevia was in contact with them before he defected back to Cuba. Additionally, I tell the story of Henry Engler, the Swedish Tupamaro, as well as what Wikileaks disclosures showed us of diplomatic handwringing about Uruguayan cancer center negotiations in 2007. Diplomats be lying. To close out, I mention some of the wavy stuff relating to the Tupamaros' imprisonment, and discuss the Tupamaros leadership entering Uruguayan politics, culminating with Jose 'Pepe' Mujica becoming the President of Uruguay from 2010 to 2015. [note: at some point, probably talking about Guillén, I accidentally said FIA instead of FAI. FAI meaning the Federación Anarquista Ibérica, of which he was a member] Songs: Adios by Los Tupamaros Anna was a Stool Pigeon by Laura Jane Grace En Esta Tarde Gris by Julio Sosa

I finish the story of Manuel Hevia Coscullela, the Cuban spy, based off his memoir, Pasaporte 11333 : ocho años con la CIA (1978). I examine what exactly Hevia was doing for the agency and what USAID's Office of Public Safety was up to. I discuss Lyndon B. Johnson's visit to Punta del Este, Uruguay for the Organization of American States (OAS) summits/conferences and how that affected the domestic political climate.
I get obsessed with the story of Uruguayan military officer Colonel Ramon Trabal - assassinated by "the Raul Sendic International Brigade" in Paris, a story which quickly enters the funhouse hall of mirrors.
Then, to double back on the discussion of Gittinger's PAS files, entrapment ops, and MKULTRA death squad selection processes, I cover Hevia's explanation of the L and Q files. Just wait. He also explains the construction of a "parallel apparatus" and, in relation, discusses a police pimp.
Afterwards, Hevia ran a restaurant as part of ops the CIA and Uruguayan police were running in Uruguay. Finally, Mitrione appears in Hevia's story, and I go through some details left out in the prior episodes. Ice cold.

I continue the extended story of the Tupamaros by examining the life of Manuel Hevia Coscullela, the Cuban double (or triple) agent embedded in the CIA in Uruguay. I obtained his memoir, Pasaporte 11333 : ocho años con la CIA (1978) and translated various passages into English. As far as I know, this is the first time this has ever been done.
Hevia's story begins before the Cuban revolution, and I explain his education and upbringing as well as his activities before, during, and after the Cuban Revolution. Hevia was involved with the Cuban AAA during the revolution and with Che's JUCEPLAN after the revolution. Hevia got in bed with some unsavory Uruguayans at their embassy and then defected, snitched and flipped for the CIA (wink), and was sent to Uruguay to work for the agency.
From there, we get into Uruguayan deep state politics which is not uninteresting but which sets the stage for all the Mitrione stuff to come later. This is the story of deep espionage.

Today I'm rejoined by Dr. Pig Bodine aka CJ (@pussy___teeth) to continue our discussion on the 1972 film State of Siege by Costa-Gavras. We open with a discussion on the death squad as a general concept and in its specific applications in Uruguay.
Then, we discuss exactly why the Tupamaros were so effective and, despite that, why they were brought down so quickly. As it turns out, they were brought down due to the same factors that made them so effective: espionage and infiltration. We discuss both Cuban, Uruguayan, and CIA intelligence. I introduce Manuel Hevia Cosculluela, the double (or triple) agent embedded within this story.
Then I tell the story of the Mormon Tupamaro within the story of the incredible jailbreak from the Punta Carreras prison of 1971. After, we discuss the infiltration against the Tupamaros by fascist drug and weapons smugglers.
We talk about the JCR, the Junta Coordinadora Revolutionaria, and place the Tupamaros within the continental revolutionary context. Finally, we cover the downright cocaine cowboy shenanigans of Mitrione's son. Believe it or not, however, we are not done with the MLN-T.

Today I am rejoined by old friend of the show Dr. Pig Bodine aka CJ (@pussy___teeth) to discuss the 1972 film State of Siege by Costa-Gavras. We begin by reviewing the plot of the film and the real-life events.
From there, we quickly descend into darkness as we discuss the life of Dan Mitrione (beyond all the Jim Jones stuff). This leads us to ask why the field of parapolitics research into MKULTRA has been so incredibly unfruitful since the 1970s and why Operation Midnight Climax has been so thoroughly shitcoated. We're talking deviancy and sexual blackmail operations. We ask what type of "sexual technologies" they developed and what Inquisition techniques have to do with MKULTRA. We raise the spectre of the true nature of personality tests and their horrific usages including aforementioned deviancy blackmail ops and death squads.
Finally, we discuss the question of torture. Don't worry; future episodes are not as bleak.

Reid explains the importance of the Diebold Corporation and how this all might be a sophisticated method of OSINT and espionage, among whatever else it may have been.
Note: in the episode, Reid said that he hadn't nailed down the name of the guy who introduced Einhorn, and mistakenly said that Geller was introduced via an American army attaché. Reid later found that this was Paul Henshaw, the head biophysicist for the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1947, Henshaw was on the US scientific team that studied radiation after-effects in Hiroshima. This same Henshaw introduced Ira Einhorn to Andrija Puharich. Geller was introduced to Puharich by Itzhak Bentov, an Israeli scientist, army officer, and mystic.

I lost my damn mind researching a related figure, Weldon Melick, who very much appears to be Something, but what that Something is, isn't entirely clear to me. To do this, I rely on a close reading of Accounting for Slavery: Masters and Management by Caitlin Rosenthal. As it turns out, slave plantations actually led the global economy in new developments of field and factory regarding management styles, industrialization, organizational structure, accounting methods, and a number of other things.

Then I examined Alan Baer's family history, which is to say, the Brandeis family, who made their fortune through the Brandeis department store. That led us to examine patterns of immigration to Nebraska including Czech Jews which included practicing Frankists. We revisit the Frankists and discuss US Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis.
Note: as of the recording, I had not read The Books of Jacob by Olga Tokarczuk, but since the recording I have read it.
(Monty wanted to add a clarifying note because he felt he may have been unclear or incorrect in discussing the Sabbateans and Frankists: "Sabbateans were in fact Sephardic, while the Frankists seem to be mostly Ashkanazi but some Sephardic as well."
After that, we explore the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben, Omaha's secret society. The Knights are very similar to the Veiled Prophet Ball of St. Louis as well as Mardi Gras Krewes. It's time for another rap episode, this time to discuss the hot topic of rap snitches, informants, undercovers, plants, and rats in the rap industry. I'm joined by Luke Marshall (@thingobserver) of Things Observed podcast to examine this thorny issue.
We attempt to examine the topic in general terms through the case of 6ix9ine's words and deeds, and then Luke walks us through the case of Tupac and the possibility of infiltrating rap 'for good', and various COINTELPRO-style tactics used against him. Along the way, we discuss police corruption, whether Death Row Records was an intelligence front, Suge Knight's curious career, LAPD and Rampart scandals, possible Mossad involvement, and many related topics.
We also discuss Wu Tang Clan manager Michael Caruso's snitching, strange things occurring with ODB, and the interesting case of 50 Cent's possible role in related activities.

It's time to discuss the much-anticipated, much-requested question, "why do you keep raising your eyebrows suggestively at any mention of Indiana?" What follows is necessarily an incomplete attempt, but I cover early Indiana state history, the Indiana Treason Trials, the Knights of the Golden Circle, the curious case of the Ishmael family, Indiana eugenics programs, the weird proto-Christian Identity church milieu there, Terre Haute, some discussion of Charlie Manson's early life, a segment on the Interstate Killer Larry Eyler and the bizarre coverup there, a bit on the Kinsey network and the expat Tibetans, Amoco, Eli Lilly, the Symbionese Liberation Army, various spooks, MKULTRA, talking shit on Parks and Recreation, and a revisit to the conceptual framework of the susness of places in general.

Today's the third episode examining the life of Leon Trotsky, and I'm joined by Comrade Chad. We discuss Trotsky's activities in exile including work with the Soviet Opposition Bloc, terrorist actions, and the ensuing show trials. We particularly discuss the curious case of Genrikh Lyushkov, who overlaps with some of the Japanese intrigue from prior episodes, as well as more about the Promethean League, and everyone's favorite topic: outright collaboration with the fascists.
We cover the French Turn, touch on the Chinese and Vietnamese Trots, try not to relitigate the Spanish Civil War, and introduce the cast of characters (pay attention) who will become important in the US Trotskyist movement. Finally, we discuss Trotsky's time in Mexico, including the very impartial American Committee for the Defense of Leon Trotsky and some outright snitch shit for HUAC. Not the end of the Trotskyism series but the end for Leon Trotsky.

Today's the final installment of the Cathar series, dropped a few days early because I'll be busy next week. I finally did it - an Angleton episode. I discuss the life and times of James Jesus Angleton. I argue that there's something new for listeners with any level of Angleton familiarity. I discuss Soviet defectors, the Trust, Kim Philby, Anatoly Golitsyn and Yuri Nosenko, MKULTRA, the Lovestone empire, the Israelis, the USS Liberty, the Monster Plot, and Edward Clare Petty. It's my grandiose contention that I advance the theory of Angleton-as-mole one step further by looking at Petty's career. Finally, I look at Angleton's conception of himself and the spiritual implications of espionage.

Today's all about the Simon Necronomicon as explained by the book 'Dead Names', also written by "Simon" aka Peter Levenda. I go through Levenda's early life, as reported by Levenda, which CJ describes as having "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" vibes. I attempt to cross-reference what I can to external sources, and we explore the subterranean world of the wandering bishops.
We discuss the Necronomicon text, its purported origins and the backstory that Levenda provides. We talk about the Witch Wars, the nature of witchcraft, and how the Necronomicon is attempting to teach us not that aliens are demons, but that demons are aliens. In turn, this contextualizes why Levenda took what looked like a sharp turn into Ufology later in life. Finally, we try to answer the question "why is Levenda like this?"

Joined again by @Boyd_Beaver, today's the final episode on Alexander Guterma, where we discuss how Guterma fit into the Moe Dalitz / Roy Cohn connection. We discuss how exactly how sexually repressed Hoover supposedly was, the DoJ's attacks on the Purple gang / Desert Inn gang, and another Howard Hughes connection. Then we discuss Guterma's deals with Rafael Trujillo, and speculate on why the government's documents on this are still redacted.
This leads us to Guterma's arrest and conviction for a variety of crimes. Interestingly, the feds wanted Guterma to snitch on capital flight from the Soviet Union. Then, we cover how Guterma structured his offshore wealth to hide it from the feds. Guterma tried to break into Resorts International, and then got into Kentucky Coal, doing essentially the same tax writeoff schemes as they did with oil decades prior.
Then we get into underground tunnels - specifically Meyer Lansky's secret tunnels in Michigan. From there, we go Galaxy Brain and discuss how everything is a front.
Then, Guterma died in a plane crash in 1977 and go over all the connections we still didn't cover (the WCC, Fassoulis, Handsome Johnny), and how Guterma is a skeleton key for the eldritch monster we're up against.

Boyd and I go through the rest of Guterma's business holdings. This included United Chemical and Dye, which leads us right into the nexus of the RFK Department of Justice's proxy war against IG Farben via General Aniline and Film Corporation, as well as their fight against the mafia, Hoffa, and Roy Cohn. Sam Garfield comes back up which links to Big Oil, as well as Ted Llewellyn, as well as Walter Winchell and Drew Pearson.
Along the way, we touch on political blackmail rings, Resorts International, diamond mining, and Llewellyn's network of nightclubs in the US, the Philippines and Japan, the Roswell connection, Uranium trading. Howard Hughes, gunrunning, drug trafficking in Japan, the Connecticut connection, and Trevor Moore.

Part 1 of 3:
Today I'm joined by a very special guest, Boyd Beaver (@Boyd_Beaver) to discuss one of the weirdest figures in modern history, Alexander Guterma, who was a con man, businessman, figure involved in organized crime, and intelligence asset.
We discuss Isaiah Leebove, Sam Garfield, and the Purple Gang before Boyd establishes (conclusively, in my opinion) Guterma's origins as a Russian Jew whose family resettled in Manchuria. Then, we talk about Guterma's misadventures in China, Hawaii, and the Philippines before Guterma's eventual arrival in Florida. We discuss the nature of collaboration with the Japanese, his contacts with intelligence, and why this would be significant.
Guterma resettled to Florida, and we discuss kenaf at length, and then the long and surprising list of companies he managed to acquire, including the spooked up Hal Roach film studio, and a radio network. All of this leads us to hypothesize that the economy is simply not real.

Today I go through the life and times of Immanuel Velikovsky, one of the most interesting figures in recent times. I discuss the importance of Freud to Velikovsky's works, and the main themes of Worlds in Collision. I discuss Einstein's relationship to Velikovsky, and Velikovsky's network of followers. While this is probably not the final word on Velikovsky, I think I come to a pretty grounded explanation of how and why the Velikovsky affair got so out of hand, and why Catastrophists and New Chronologists all seem to be spooks and occultists.

You're premium subscribers, you already know the score. Yes, Ira Levin and William Peter Blatty were both spies, but What Does It Mean?
I go through the careers of both authors and flag the times they worked for US intelligence, then how perhaps their writing was affected by that fact, and then the reverberations their work has had on society. With Levin, we meet the Ayn Rand circle, Malachi Martin, the weirdness of Rosemary's Baby, the Stepford Wives, the Boys From Brazil, Son of Rosemary, and so on.
With Blatty, we discuss USIA, the Groucho Marx connection, the Ninth Configuration, the Exorcist, Mark David Chapman, the Zodiac, the Exorcist III, Dahmer, and I cite the great pd187 and Christopher Knowles on the Exorcist film.
To wrap it up, I discuss the "less well-known" David St. John, who weirdly corresponds with Candy Jones, and how the saga of Tom Dooley III shows that religious psyops are not exactly new. And the songs are pretty great this episode too, lol.

Today's episode is nuts. I don't hear anyone referring to Salinger as a spy, and yet he was very much a spy. He served in the army's counterintelligence corps where, as it turns out, he saw some remarkable and horrific things.
Then possibly got brainwashed by Nazis? I'm legitimately not joking; he was at least in the position to be brainwashed. After that, he married a Nazi spy and brought her to the US. I discuss his spiritual dilettantism, and then I go over the Joyce Maynard affair, pulling out a few very curious details that rarely get addressed.
Then of course I talk about the curious role the Catcher in the Rye has played in various assassinations, and what might be in the novel that would catch the eye of an assassin. To wrap it up, I discuss the possibility that the novel contains Freemasonic themes and messages.

Today's all about Edward Bulwer-Lytton, whose works are very unique. His writing was incredibly popular and full of high strangeness, if not outright occult themes. In this episode, I talk about The Last Days of Pompeii, Zanoni, and Vril: the Power of the Coming Race.
I also discuss the Morning of the Magicians, a curious work by some French journalists that discusses (among other things) esoteric Nazism and how it intersects with Vril. I also talk about Willy Ley, an interesting German science fiction author.
To wrap it up, I examine Bulwer-Lytton's family and political legacy, and that of his children. Milner, Rhodes, and the RIIA come up, and so do the British Theosophical networks in India and Germany. Then I confront the Dope Inc. thesis that there was a "cult of Isis" that British elites sought to foster.

In case you've ever wondered what the political fallout from a massacre is like, this is your episode. Brave Colonel Varela faced obfuscation and misdirection from Yrigoyen's government, attacks from the socialists in Congress, attacks in the press, silence, and eventually a "promotion". Then, Varela was blown up, and the chain of revenge spins out from there. It's quite a story, though!

Today's the second of three episodes about the Patagonian Revolution. If you don't know what happens, don't spoil it for yourself or others. We pick up from the resounding victories of the strikes of 1920, and discuss the ongoing struggles and strikes of 1921, which do not go quite as well, to put it mildly. This one's rough, folks. At least at the end, there's a nice sex worker-positive story of resistance, I suppose. But just wait for next week, where there's -some- measure of justice.

Today's the first of a 3-part series (or 4 if you include the Simon Radowitzky episode) on the Patagonian Revolution, which a lot of people don't know about. In some ways, the story continues as these events occurred after the Radowitzky episode, also. We talk about the politics of the time, Argentina's Tragic Week and who owned Patagonia. Understanding the economic base of Patagonia is crucial to understanding the story, as well as the different forces exploiting the economy. It all culminates in waves of strikes which allow the workers to win major concessions. Much of this episode sets up the events for episode 2-3, but I promise it's not boring.

Today I return to looking at novels as spycraft, particularly Lewis Carroll, JM Barrie, and HG Wells. I go through Carroll's connections to Oxford, his hobbies and predilections, his relationship with the Liddell family, and the enduring fixation Carroll's work has for pedophiles to this day.
Then, I look at JM Barrie, his ties to the literary scene and the throne, his relationship with the Llewelyn Davies family, and the fate of those children.
To wrap it up, I discuss several of HG Wells more interesting works, including the World Set Free, the Open Conspiracy, and the New World Order.
You might have known some of what I talk about today, but I'm certain there are some salient details that biographers seem to like to leave out.

Today's about Argentina and it's radical history. We're talking about immigrants from Europe bringing their politics, the economic base of Argentina, and a May Day massacre that triggered a wild chain of events. We trace the life of Simon Radowitzky from the Ukraine to Argentina, to Ushuaia prison, to an escape, then back to prison, then to Uruguay, then Spain during their civil war, then finally Mexico City. It's a wild story.

Today's all about novels as spycraft. I introduce the premise, the different classifications, and then briefly discuss Ian Fleming, George Viereck, Robert Ludlum, John le Carré, George Orwell, Anthony Burgess, and then Aldous Huxley.
First I talk about Thomas Henry Huxley, Aldous's grandfather, the X Club, the rise of Darwinism and Social Darwinism, its connections to Rhodes, Milner, and the Fabians, and HG Wells.
Then, I go through Aldous Huxley's life, his time in Hollywood, his friends and circle, and how he set up networks in the US to promote drug culture.

Then, I'm outed as a believer of magick in another Q&A question asking my opinion on the material basis of magick and whether the ruling class practices magick. I discuss Mormonism in several ways, white and black magick, stage magic, Giordano Bruno and Professor Ioan Culianu, John Dee, the CIA's stage magician John Mulholland, Haitian voudon, a research office tied to the Human Ecology Fund researching witchcraft for psychological warfare, the FBI memo about using magickal harassment (Beware the Siberian Beetle!), and other hints.

Then I discuss the WTC's potential hidden meanings/symbolism, psychogeography, sensory overload and overstimulation by design, UFOs, then a look at who built the new WTC, who owns the building, and how the whole thing functioned as a massive handout to private real estate developers.

I said I wasn't gonna do an episode this week, but I can't help myself. and out of 8 Q&A questions, I made it through precisely one, lol. looks like Q&A will definitely be on a rolling basis.
today we talk about the coin shortage and the elimination of cash. right off the bat, we talk about the World Economic Forum and the Great Reset, then the function cash plays in the underground economy. from there, we go into the Free Silver movement and its war against the nefarious gold standard, including William Jennings Bryan. From the Free Silver movement, we go into L. Frank Baum and his Wizard of Oz as metaphor for the Silver vs. Gold debates of the time, and then we explore the theosophical underpinnings of Oz.
from there, things really come off the rails, and we discuss some of the more esoteric Oz movies, including the demented Return to Oz, and then wrap it up with a discussion of Dr. William Joseph Bryan, the hypnotist.

Today I'm rejoined by the journalist and author Douglas Valentine (@DouglasValentine77) to finish our discussion about the Harrelson investigation. In this episode, he explains the nature of politically protected drug trafficking, the Dixie Mafia, and how and why Charles Harrelson killed a federal judge.
Valentine explains what he found in his investigation, the nature of the material evidence which got Charles Harrelson a new trial, how Sheehan botched the case, and how Woody undermined it himself on top of that. Further, Valentine explains how we are living in an illusory reality with regards to political realities.

Then we discuss the broader Mexican drug war. We talk about the banks, McCoy and Peter Dale Scott, plane crashes and container ships, and then compared the Sicario films to the analysis provided by the book Los Carteles No Existen (The Cartels Do Not Exist) by Oswaldo Zavala, before arriving at the dark truth about the drug war in Mexico.

Today I'm joined by a special guest, the great Keith Allen Dennis, to continue our discussion about Ryōichi Sasakawa, the world's richest fascist. In this episode, we cover the Liberal Democratic Party, the Three Amigos (Kodama, Sasakawa, and Kishi), the 1955 system, and Sasakawa's ultranationalist ties. We cover Sasakawa's life from the 1950s on through into the 1990s.
This includes his interactions with the Moonies and other cults like waterology, recovering looted war gold, open-air brothels, karate, and the repair of Sasakawa's reputation, such as it is. We go over the "plata o plomo" approach to Sasakawa's reputation laundering, including the long list of casualties of Sasakawa's critics, and ask the question "how much money do you have to give to become a good person?" Today I'm joined by Joe from the Deeep Fried Friends podcast for the second of two episodes on the Rote Armee Fraktion aka the Red Army Faction aka the Baader-Meinhof Gang. We go over the various types of blowback this brought down on Germany and the Left. We discuss the second and third generations which were even more compromised and untethered from the workers and the masses than the first generation. Full disclosure: this one might be rough because we're talking about child murder here. Don't mess around with your mental health; you can always listen to it later when you're in a better headspace.
That said, today I'm talking about one of the many unacknowledged (by Agent Douglas) predecessors to the FBI's Behavior Science Unit - Dr. Lunde, a forensic psychiatrist to the criminally insane. He worked with Ed Kemper, John Lindley Frazier, Herb Mullin, the Hollywood Strangler, the Girl in the Box case, Dan White, Jonestown, Patty Hearst, Howard Hughes; all things you'd think Agent Douglas might mention right?
After that, I get into the Atlanta Child Murders as presented by Agent Douglas, introduce Wayne Williams, and then deconstruct some of the myths around the murders as per Programmed to Kill and The List. It's really intense.

Today, I look at the concept of serial killers as laid out by the FBI, specifically in Agent John E. Douglas's book 'Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit' and Netflix series, and then I compare it to Dave McGowan's 'Programmed to Kill: the Politics of Serial Murder'. I talk about the history of the concept, specifically the FBI's revisionism in pretending they invented the study of serial killers.
Then I go into Ed Kemper (and to a lesser degree Herb Mullin) as depicted in the book and show, and the very interesting facts that get curiously left out of these popular histories. Full warning: it gets pretty weird, as we get into 'behavioral modification' experiments at Atascadero and Vacaville, and if Vacaville comes up, you know the Symbionese Liberation Army will as well.

Today I'm joined by Dakota (@DEEP_RED_BELLS) to discuss the musical group Death Grips. We talk about our personal experiences listening to them, the band's history and then discuss the band's familiarity with chaos magic(k). Then we get into some song analysis. I tended to focus on Exmilitary out of sheer familiarity with it but we do talk about various eras between the two episodes.
Finally, we ask the important question: folks, are Death Grips members of a "Mansonoid conspiracy"?
Note: I say 'sigil' weird in this; I know how it should be pronounced in general

After a speedrun through 800 years of Anglo-Irish history, I'm joined by Trash (@bidenbigboi) to discuss the Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) by Ken Loach. The film takes place during the Irish War of Independence and the beginning of the Irish Civil War. We discuss the film, what it means to be Irish-American, and the various themes and lessons we can learn from such a film.

It's that most wonderful time of year - St. Patrick's day. To get in the mood I'm launching the inaugural episode of the Hibernian Film Club. I'm joined by Trash (@bidenbigboi) to discuss the Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) by Ken Loach, but to get to that point, we're forced to reckon with nearly 800 years of Anglo-Irish history to properly contextualize the film. This episode is an attempt to cover that history to get to discussing the Irish War of Independence and Irish Civil War.

The eleventh and final episode in conversation with Wendy Painting, author of Aberration in the Heartland of the Real: The Secret Lives of Timothy McVeigh. In this episode, we discuss the Oklahoma City Bombing as American Gladio, a strategy of tension scenario in which terror is used as social conditioning.
(note, to record 11 episodes, at certain points we were both getting quite tired, so neither of us might be at our most eloquent)
Then, Wendy Painting discusses her literary influences, the events that inspired her to write, her views as an author, and so forth. To cap it off, we discuss why there are multiple versions of her book and she explains the issues she's faced with her publisher.

Today I'm joined by Rob McKenzie, the author of El Golpe: US Labor, the CIA, and the Coup at Ford in Mexico, to discuss the CIA's subversion of the international labor movement. Along the way we discuss James Jesus Angleton, George Meany, Jay Lovestone, the Reuther brothers, and meet several very interesting characters.
We discuss AIFLD's role in Guyana, Brazil, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Chile as setup to discuss the potentially revolutionary context of Mexico in the 1980s. That's when the strikes at Ford Cuautitlán led to a massacre due to the involvement of AIFLD and other actors. It's a great interview for an exceptional book.

Today we wrap up the story of Nisshō Inoue, picking up with his time in prison, where he received uniquely lax/privileged treatment. Interestingly, Inoue was placed in charge of Tenko at Kosuge prison, and met several notable inmates. Then, like with Alfried Krupp, we trace Inoue's first day out of prison; I argue that a person's first day out of prison says quite a lot about that person. Then we cover Inoue's new role/identity as advisor to Prime Minister Fumimaro Konoe. After the war, Inoue was interrogated by SCAP upwards of 28 times, and met some very interesting SCAP figures. I sidetrack myself talking about the journalist Mark Gayn, who had some interesting interactions with Inoue. Then I cover the end of Inoue's life as a political fixer and old man perv. Finally, I reveal the hidden, occulted truth about prewar ultranationalist terrorism, including but not limited to Nisshō Inoue.

Today we discuss Nisshō Inoue's many, many connections with ultranationalist terrorism, and the attacks he planned in with the Blood Oath Corps Incident. This was an extreme plan that, were it to have succeeded, would have assassinated 20 of the top zaibatsu executives and politicians in Japan. They managed to kill a central banker as well as a Mitsui executive. The high-profile trial allowed Inoue and his accomplices to present their case to the public. Finally, we discuss the fallout of the Blood Oath Corps Incident on Taisho democracy.

Today we explore Nisshō Inoue's spiritual life, and watch his voyage into Zen Buddhism. We discuss his spiritual practice as an ascetic, and cover his dreams and visions. Did Inoue achieve enlightenment? Inoue made a number of prophecies, as well. Inoue's relationship to the Nichiren sect is discussed. Finally, we leave Inoue receiving post-enlightenment training.

Today's about how Zen Buddhism was used to prepare people for Japan's imperial wars. We look at the example of Lt. Colonel Gorō Sugimoto, an officer in the Kwantung army who wrote a popular work on Zen and militarism, as well as the societal effects his legacy had on Japan. We talk about the spiritual fallout of Japan's loss of WWII, and how DT Suzuki knew the right parties to blame. We discuss which sects apologized for their wartime roles and which didn't, and how that's reflected in economic realities. Then we discuss corporate Japan's weaponization of Zen to discipline some of their employees, and who was studying this phenomenon. We cover Zen priests who wrote against this corporate Zen boom, and Zen Buddhism's ongoing popularity with Japan’s Self-Defense Forces, and some of the darker ties to intelligence.
Today we cover the Control and Imperial Way factions in Imperial Japan, and then get into Imperial Way Buddhism, Japanese Zen Buddhism's drift into nationalistic, militaristic territory. We discuss the Youth League for Revitalizing Buddhism, which sought to oppose this drift, and how it was undermined by the police state. Then we discuss Bushido and its interactions with Zen, and extensively quote DT Suzuki about the nature of Zen Buddhism and why it was so easily coopted by the state.

Today I'm joined by Twitter personality eBeggin (@eBeggin1) to discuss what sounds like a made up ideology - Nazi Maoism, though as we'll see, it was real, and though it wasn't widespread, it caused quite the wake. During the episode, we talk about third Positionism, National Bolshevism, and especially how Gladio was behind much of it, as well as the Order of the Solar Temple. We discuss Franco Freda, Jean-François Thiriart, Dugin and Limonov, and Luc Jouret. It's great!

Today we slow down and start to explore Imperial Japan, spiritually speaking. This is the first of two episodes about Zen Buddhism under Imperial Japan. There's a brief history of Zen Buddhism in order to explain New Buddhism. New Buddhism was utilized by Imperial Japan to control their population and to exert power overseas. Then, we discuss Gudō Uchiyama and Zen Buddhism's resistance to New Buddhism and the Japanese state. We talk about High Treason Incident and its very interesting connection to Japanese railroads.

Today's a little something special for the fans - an episode on freemasonry to celebrate the 33rd free episode of the show. This one might be a little controversial for those on the weirder freak frequencies. I go over the basic premise and points of King Kill 33, and then get into James Shelby Downard's life via his autobiography. Then I try to nail that down with external sources and research, and get into where this all came from, namely Michael Hoffman, William Grimstad and Adam Parfrey. To wrap it up, I discuss synchromysticism as such.

Today we explore Japan's imperial aggressions against China. We talk about Shanghai's unique position in this prewar period as a hotbed for gambling, espionage, drugs and prostitution. We discuss the July 7th / Marco Polo Bridge Incident and the Rape of Nanking. Then, there's an extended discussion of Iris Chang and her book, "The Rape of Nanking", and the cautionary tale that was the end of her life. Then, we discuss the Golden Lily organization and Yoshio Kodama's "China period" running narcotics, shakedowns, and purchasing for the Imperial air force.

Today's the first episode in season 2 of Programmed to Chill, and it's all about Japan. We talk about the Dark Ocean Society and Japan's imperial ambitions in Korea and elsewhere. I also discuss the parallels between far-right terrorism in Germany, and then discuss the assassination of Korean Empress Myung-Sung, the fallout from it, and Japan's eventual annexation of Korea. I try to go into the economic drivers of the annexation and try to cover some of the crimes Japan inflicted. This included but was not limited to looting, ethnic cleansing, burning Korean historical documents, and so on. Then we discuss Korean resistance to the occupation, all of which should set us up for the upcoming episodes.

Today I'm joined by the journalist Jeff Kaye to talk about his work on the Korean War. He has illustrated how the US used biological warfare attacks against the North Korean and Chinese troops and civilian populations. We discuss the USAF and Marine Corps pilots who confessed to using biological weapons, and how the US government's story was that they were tortured and/or brainwashed into confessing. However, communications and signals intelligence document that there were biological attacks occurring, which is consistent with both the confessions, international commissions' findings, and other US documents that came out later.
When the US POWs returned to the US, they were subject to interrogation under Project ARTICHOKE, a predecessor program to MKULTRA. It is not certain that this caused the flyers' recanted confessions, though it is fair to speculate that this could have been a factor. Mr. Kaye also documented how many of the same people who were involved with the biological warfare program were, in fact, the same people who were involved with the MKULTRA programs.
Mr. Kaye's work directly addresses several key controversies of the Cold War and is crucial for understanding the Korean War, biological weapons programs in later years, international relations with the Koreas and China, and the MKULTRA programs.

We're at the end of the series. We talk about the sudden collapse of Krupp Steel. First, we discuss Krupp's Holocaust reparations fund, and how they somehow managed to make even that anti-Semitic. Then we talk about Arndt von Bohlen und Halbach, the useless playboy son of Alfried Krupp. He hung out with some really interesting failsons and faildaughters and got up to some hijinks, none of which even approach the horrors of his father. In discussing the collapse, we use the 'business school' approach and the 'parapolitical' approach to understanding what was going on, and hopefully tried to synthesize the two. Illiquidity and Krupp not cutting in the right people, basically, were the two root causes, possibly paired with a controlled demolition. There's also the almost unparalleled lines of credit Krupp was giving to the Eastern bloc which can't really be explained through a straight 'business school' understanding of events. Tax law is discussed, also. Krupp Steel became a foundation, and we discuss the fates of Alfried and Arndt.
To finish, I created the Programmed To Chill Matrix of Business Success to quantify Krupp's many, many moral, legal, and dare I say religious failings.
Today we see Alfried Krupp released from prison and balling out, living his best life. He immediately marries Vera Hossenfeldt, a con artist, and they honeymooned in Nassau where they met with Axel Wenner-Gren to arrange, you know, "things". Then Krupp met with Haile Selassie I and a host of Third World leaders. Alfried got divorced, and Krupp Steel moved into the "consulting engineering" sector. Alfried's photographed with Otto Skorzeny in Egypt, Alfried's brother Harald got released from a gulag, and Krupp Steel keeps prospering.
Today's all about the Nuremberg trials - Krupp evading the first tier of them, then getting their own trials a year later. We talk about their crimes, the weirdness of the trial, especially the curious handling of it by US forces. At the trial, Krupp executives revealed that they were, in fact, guilty of treason, which is pretty funny. Then we talk about the Korean War, and Alfried Krupp's pardon at the hands of an appeals board appointed by John J. McCloy. McCloy's career is examined, and we discuss why Krupp was pardoned.
Today's about the rest of WWII - we talk about Allied bombing campaigns targeting civilians over factories, Krupp's Batcave-like bunker, the documents Krupp burned before the Allies showed up, the loyalty oaths and the Lex Krupp, the crimes Krupp was guilty of, and we talk about the Night and Fog decree. To wrap it up, I compare and contrast the experiences of two different Catholic priests in Essen during the war - Father Alphonso Come and his excellency Cardinal Hengsbach. To wrap up, I talk about Nazi snuff films.
Today's a rough episode. We talk about slave labor in concentration camps, and in Essen, and in Krupp factories. We talk about Krupp doctors studying inmate health, and Ewald Oskar Ludwig Löser, one of Krupp's executives, who communicated with Allen Dulles and whose ring attempted to assassinate Hitler. We talk about how Slavs were explicitly singled out to be slaves, the language around slavery, and then we talk about Buschmannshof, which was Krupp's child death camp. It's very bleak. Then we talk about the Lex Krupp again, to walk back from the edge.
Today we talk about the Krupp Steel empire during WWII, with both Gustav and his son Alfried Krupp. To start, we talk about Hjalmar Schacht's financial trickery to keep rearmament off Germany's books after the Nazis took power. Then we talk about Alfried Krupp, his interests and career up to that point, and how deranged his family was. We talk about Krupp's weapons during the Spanish Civil War, the case of Robert Rothschild, Gustav Krupp's senility, and the story of Artur Rümann, an art dealer who witnessed Alfried Krupp salivating and drooling over maps of soon-to-be expropriated factories across Europe. Then we introduce the topic of slave labor under Nazi Germany, including the theft of the Ukraine, culminating with the Battle of Kursk.

Today's all about Gustav Krupp - his dementia, his views on German nationalism and Hitler, and especially the secret rearmament program after WWI. We're talking about tricking journalists, and how blindingly obvious it should have been to know they were rearming if you could, idk, read a balance sheet. Then we talk about exactly how Krupp Steel hid their weapons manufacturing and designers, like, black production, and how it intersected with Gustav's politics. Then, I discuss an important meeting of German industrialists with Hitler where some very curious things get brought up, then we talk about the terror elections, the immediate steps the Nazis actually took, and when Hitler declared Gustav Krupp to be the Führer of the Economy, and how Hitler was actually at Villa Hügel when he launched the Night of the Long Knives.
w/ Krupp und Krause theme song
Today we're talking about WWI, including Big Bertha, the giant artillery gun, and German U-boats, both of which were developed by Krupp Steel. Then we discuss war profiteering, specifically the fact that, due to patents, the British firm Vickers technically owed about 60 marks for every dead German soldier. Then we discuss the Kaiser visiting the Krupp steelworks, a very interesting moment in history. After that, we discuss the German revolutions and political assassinations again, especially the communist takeover of the Krupp works, and the German army's massacre of these workers. Then, the French invaded, and Krupp committed more crimes, and we discuss how Krupp stayed afloat during this period. Hint: it's through outright subsidies from the government and financial crimes.
w/ Krupp und Krause theme song
Today Marga Krupp takes the helm of the Krupp firm, at least for a while, and the German state finds Bertha Krupp a reliable husband. The reliable man is Gustav Krupp, an interesting little homunculus. Then we discuss the extent of the Krupp empire at this point, and talk about their shitty renaissance fair antics, and then the run-up to WWI. Finally, we talk about the Brandt Trial, which ought to be called the Krupp trial, the SPD's role in the affair, and why Krupp was allowed to walk out unscathed.
w/ Krupp und Krause theme song
Today's all about Fritz Krupp, though we spend some time talking about Alfred, his crumbling marriage, Fritz' insane wedding, Fritz' place in the Krupp concern as chief of intelligence, comparing and contrasting Alfred's and Fritz' different approaches to management, new developments in steel and weapons production, and then a very, very interesting topic: older generations of international arms dealers. Specifically the British and Vickers man, Sir Basil Zaharoff vs. the German and Krupp man, Friedrich Wilhelm von Bülow (yes, that Bülow family), covering a detour through their accomplishments and battles with each other. They Fritz Krupp gets canceled for holding banquets with minstrel shows, and then we talk about how he's the the Jeffrey Epstein of the Second Reich. Trust me, this one's worth listening to.

Today I'm joined by Dr. Pig Bodine (@pussy___teeth) to discuss all things Alan Moore (mostly everything except Watchmen and V for Vendetta), and especially From Hell. We bounce all over the place, as you might imagine, but that's in the spirit of Alan Moore. We ask if Moore is Princess Dianapilled, LaRouchepilled, and zero in on Moore's obsession with intelligence agencies and magick. We talk "op or not" and tried to come to a greater understanding of why we practice art and history.
w/ Saucy Jack by Spinal Tap
This week, I start by comparing and contrasting Krupp's labor practices to Amazon's, and then I discuss bronze vs. steel cannons. From there, we get to talk about Alfred's unhappy marriage, truly bad but somehow not the worst marriage in this family. Also, a discussion of Krupp's houses, from the Garden House to Villa Hügel, which is such an insane building. I talk about the arms trade in the 19th century, and the Franco-Prussian war. There's some delightful hypochondria, and Krupp's relationship to US railroads and US Steel.
w/ Krupp und Krause theme song
We're about to take a long voyage into German steel production through the lens of Krupp Steel, from 1587 into the 1960s. You're going to learn so much about German heavy industry, but I promise it's not boring. It's all about Essen, Germany, and this episode is about the start of the Krupp family, the way they made their early fortune, their actions in the Napoleonic era, and the race to figure out how to make cast steel. We meet Friedrich Carl, who almost ruins the family forge, and his son Alfred Krupp, who figures out how to make cast steel. There's industrial espionage, Austrian bribery, and even the revolutions of 1848.
w/ Krupp und Krause theme song
Today we get real weird. We're talking about how British Security Coordination + industrialists and moneyed interests formed World Commerce Corporation, with some very interesting people on its board of directors. Then we discuss WCC's official, stated goals, and the more occulted purpose it played in reindustrializing Germany. And since I can't help myself, we get the first introduction of the Bormann organization. Then, WCC morphed into Permindex, and we introduce Major Bloomfield, William Stephenson's successor. We talk about who was on the Permindex board, what they got up to, and why we know so much about it (de Gaulle). The JFK assassination is involved. Then we focus in on Major Bloomfield, who probably glows more than anyone I've ever covered, including the Dulles brothers. Then, we discuss sources for longer than normal given the spooky topic, including an extended discussion of the Torbitt Document.
Today, we talk about Diamonds are Forever, Stephenson's relationship with US news media, the curious cases of Walter Winchell and Drew Pearson, counterintelligence in general, Igor Gouzenko's defection, and we evaluate the performance of British Security Coordination overall. Then we run through BSC's alumni; there are some very, very interesting people included in that list. Ian Fleming, Dorothy Maclean, Ivan T. Sanderson, David Ogilvy, Betty Thorpe, Sgt. Pepper, and we finally discuss H. Montgomery Hyde as a source. Functionally the last William Stephenson episode, though he will appear in next week's episode too.

Today I speak with two of the Trillbillies, specifically Tom Sexton and Tarence Ray. We discuss many aspects of esoteric Kentucky, like the word itself and the other name settlers picked out for the land, as well as the Indian mounds. Then we discuss the economics of Ashland Kentucky which might explain some of the high strangeness that's occurred there, from massacres to mafia coal companies to Charlie Manson. Then we discuss the history of Kentucky and LSD, like with Captain Hubbard and Augustus Owsley Stanley III, two of the main LSD gurus and both native sons. Then, we discuss the history of LSD and MKULTRA experiments in Kentucky, which leads us to discuss the Kentucky blue bloods and high society in Lexington. From there, we get into the Bluegrass Conspiracy, with former Lexington PD narcotics task force officer Andrew Thornton III falling to his death strapped with 40 kilos of cocaine. This ties into Lexington high society, but also international crime, the CIA, Adnan Khashoggi, and Thornton's paramilitary terrorist training camp in Kentucky. To wrap it up, we talk about Kentucky's first UFO incident.
w/ Bales of Cocaine by the Reverend Horton Heat
Today we talk again about Wild Bill Donovan's COI and OSS, as well as BSC's Camp X training site. Then we discuss the infiltration of the WRUL and KGEI radio stations by BSC, which included almost total control of information by British agents; it was handed over to US intelligence. Then we talk about the OWI - Office of War Information, the agency in charge of non-black propaganda, the relationship between OSS and SIS, and a frank assessment of Allen Dulles as spy re Fritz Kolbe. I call out some historians, which is reckless; then we talk about US foreknowledge of the Pearl Harbor attack, of which there's additional evidence of it via the BSC. Finally, we talk about Gallup polling and it's relationship to spying and population control. It's good stuff, and this is all before Operation Mockingbird even gets started. Check it out.
This week, we're talking about astrology as warfare, the BSC fighting Vichy France, infiltrating embassies and stealing ciphers, economic warfare, US companies owned by Germans like Schering AG, Pioneer Import Corporation, and a variety of subsidiaries owned by IG Farben. We talk about US oil's relations to the Reich again, and the BSC monitoring contraband on the high seas, with a strange trip into MK territory. Then we talk about the political situation in South America during WWII, with BSC running harassment campaigns in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, and shutting down the LATI airlines. BSC would make completely fake documents, some of which got into the hands of FDR, wouldn't you know?
Today we're talking about the America First movement, the German Bund, and the isolationists. We talk more about Wild Bill Donovan, British ambassadors, the ONI and G2, and especially the FBI, with its legal restrictions and limitations. We talk about the British Imperial Censorship in Bermuda and its letter-opening program, and how they taught the tricks to the FBI. There's weird foot stuff and sexism involved. Then a series of incidents with Italian and German spies in the Americas, and some hypothesizing about why German spying in the US was underwhelming, and some of Germany's very curious links to certain sectors of US industry. Several German spy rings get broken up, and we talk about the frank mail privilege, ending with Nazi propaganda efforts in the US. There are limericks, too.
w/ snippet of As Time Goes By from Casablanca soundtrack
Wouldn't it be pretty bad if FDR sold the American public on WWII with falsified evidence? Ahh that would be bad if that had happened huh? It'd be bad if the British made up a fake Zimmerman Telegram 2.0, for sure.
Today we talk about William Stephenson, a British businessman and spymaster who gave pushed the US into WWII. We talk about his early years as a soldier, POW, boxer, businessman, and spy. We also talk about Wild Bill Donovan, FDR, J. Edgar, cash and carry, US destroyer sales to the UK, and so on.
Today we talk about Italian funding of the Nazi party, what it looked like and how we know it happened, as well as other minor foreign funders. Then there's the elephant in the room - the perfidious British, and precisely how this came about. There were trips to the UK by Kurt Lüdecke and Alfred Rosenberg, the latter organized by British air intelligence; we talk about who they met and why; their factions and interests, culminating with 'currency dictator' Montagu Norman and Sir Henri Deterding, two of the most powerful people in the world at the time. Both of these men basically signed off on Hitler as dictator. Then we talk about the so-called Prince of Windsor 'abdicating for love' being a pretext. Finally, we have Lüdecke and Rosenberg talking about their funding efforts.
w/ the 'Apollonia' theme from the Godfather soundtrack
Today we crunch some numbers on the Versailles Treaty and then get deep into heavy vs light industry - what they are, why they function differently, and then how that's reflected in their lobbying efforts. We talk about lobbying, the secret rearmament program, German heavy industry's secret political slush fund, and the Great Depression. There's some talk of coalitions in the Reichstag, and we go into the story of the Nazis party's accountant, the 1930 elections from a fundraising perspective, and the burgeoning Nazi coalition. To round it out, we talk about the Brocken, the original Witch Mountain, with its many spooky resonances, and the mass meeting of all elements of the political right that happened nearby, culminating in Dr. Schacht questioning the currency, throwing the entire political-fiscal system into chaos. Heavy on economics and magic, this episode. Check it out.
w/ Night on Bald Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky
Today we talk about the aftermath of the Beerhall Putsch and the new political issues the Nazis took advantage of, then we talk about Emil Kirdorf, the first German industrialist donating to the Nazis, and the TOP SECRET pamphlet he had Hitler write that gives the game away. We also talk about a specific talk Hitler gave to the Düsseldorf Industry Club that covers the same topics, and the specific promises Hitler made to German heavy industry (and kept). To round out the episode, we talk about Fritz Thyssen almost getting shot by the Reds, and how he went on to fund the Nazis. Guaranteed to make you go "ahh".

Today we're talking Henry Ford, his hang-ups and humiliations, and of course his deep anti-semitism. He was a pioneer of more than automobiles, helping invent racial anti-semitism, and had a bunch of White Russians working at the Dearborn Independent. The Protocols show up, of course, as well as Ford's the Eternal Jew. Then we get into the methods by which Henry Ford funneled money to the Nazis covertly, including some very shadowy figures. Guaranteed to make you go "ahh, interesting".

You ever ask yourself who funded the Nazi party? It wasn't German industrialists, not at first anyway, or the petty bourgeoisie. It's a lot more complicated. Today we talk about the Thule Society again, Ernst Röhm, White Russians, German naval intelligence, a host of smaller ghouls, Admiral Canaris, the Viking Bund and the Organization Consul terrorist group, General Ludendorff, and how it all looks just a little but like Gladio. Check it out.
outro song - Detroit Rock City by Kiss
Did you know that Hitler was a police snitch? Not just that, but he did a ton of police snitching, too. Today we talk about the Bavarian Soviet Republic, the freikorps, Hitler's training in an educational commando and his infiltration into an extremist party under German army orders, but also the curious fact that the army and navy set up these extremist parties; we also talk about the Thule Society, Hitler's lies, the Kapp putsch, Hitler undercover, his illegal arms buys/stings, and the parallels between Hitler and other famous spies/police snitches. Curious, huh?
Today we talk about Nazi rallies, Hitler's own purported hypnotic abilities, and his rallies' magickal techniques; and put forth an argument about where he learned them, from a stage magician named Erik Jan Hanussen. We talk about the Sabbatian Heresy, Clever Hans, stagecraft, arms dealing, Aleister Crowley, blackmail, publishing, perhaps a certain type of operation, prophecies, the Reichstag fire, shady business deals, and mysterious farewell notes in invisible ink. Check it out!
First part of new series about Nazis that questions some basic assumptions. Did you know Hitler got psychosomatic blindness and was cured through hypnosis? Did you know that it might have instilled in him an overwhelming sense of confidence? Did you know that the Nazis killed to cover up these facts? Check it out.
Today we talk about Sullivan & Cromwell, and the Dulles brothers from WWI into the 1930s. in the course of the episode we talk about Allen's spy games and sexscapades, Cuban interventions, the Versailles Treaty, Ho Chi Minh, JFD's dealings with the Ruhr valley industrialists, German war debt, Cromwell's a pedophile?, and the reaping phase of our discussion on the firm.
The topic for today is Sullivan & Cromwell, and the Dulles brothers from their births up to WWI. In the course of the episode, we talk about Dulles family history and their connections, what having two Secretaries of State in the family can get you, their education and early careers, psychological profiles, and why the US doesn't have a meritocracy.
