The APAC region is experiencing rapid growth in many markets. Nations in the region are starting to exploit their natural wind resources, especially in offshore. But as countries come to terms with this opportunity, we are also seeing familiar patterns emerge in relation to the challenges each market grapples with before the market can truly reach its potential.
This episode looks to provide some insight into the local supply chain developments & local content requirements in the markets. Hosts Stewart Mullin and David Lenti are joined by
Danish Ambassador to Korea Einar Jensen for a deep dive into the Korean wind market, which shows a huge opportunity for the global wind industry.
The country is extremely committed to delivering on their National Determined Contributions (NDCs) and driving the green energy transition. But what will it cost to succeed in Korea? How should companies engage with the local supply chain? Will we see a sector deal like we have seen in other markets where government and industry come together to accelerate a smooth transition? All of these questions and more will be answered in this fire side chat.

As the offshore wind sector keeps expanding, it is crucial to apply the highest health and safety standards across the industry’s entire value chain. Cross-industry collaboration is key to establish strong health and safety training networks, and ensuring industry-wide alignment with global safety systems will guarantee the long-term sustainability of the industry. In this episode, hosts Stewart Mullin and David Lenti are joined by Jakob Lau Holst, CEO of the Global Wind Organisation, and Filip Rasmussen, Head of Corporate HSE at Siemens Gamesa, to discuss how the industry can work together, as colleagues not competitors, to meet its forecasted growth safely.
Star of the South, Australia’s first proposed offshore wind project, promises to generate over 2 GW of clean energy – enough to supply around 20% of the State of Victoria’s electricity needs, power around 1.2 million homes, and support 8000 green jobs over its lifetime. In this episode, The Offshore Wind Podcast hosts Stewart Mullin and David Lenti are joined by Erin Coldham, Chief Development Officer at Star of the South, to discuss key challenges and opportunities facing Star of the South, how this project can accelerate the energy transition in Australia, what lessons can be applied from the experience of established offshore wind markets, engaging local communities, and much more!
As the offshore wind industry eyes continued growth across the US and globally, it must consider potential bottlenecks to ensure it can deliver on its promise of supporting thriving local economies while helping decarbonise the economy. Local content requirements can support the construction of a resilient local supply chain, but to stay competitive the industry must be able to keep costs and risks low. In this episode of The Offshore Wind Podcast, hosts Stewart and David are joined by Doreen Harris, CEO at NYSERDA, to discuss what local content requirements mean for the offshore wind industry, the role of regional collaboration in setting and meeting local content requirements, and how lawmakers see this challenge in the US and beyond.
The Biden Administration recently set a national target of 30 GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2030, a major push to demonstrate its renewed climate and renewable energy ambitions. According to the Government, this would create 77,000 new jobs, power 10 million homes, create $12 billion in capital investment, and cut 78 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions in the US. But how can the US reach 30 GW by 2030? In this episode, hosts Stewart Mullin and David Lenti are joined by Laura Morton, Senior Director, Policy and Regulatory Affairs, Offshore Wind at the American Clean Power Association, and Steven Dayney, Head of Offshore, North America at Siemens Gamesa, to discuss challenges and opportunities to put the US on-track to deliver 30 GW of offshore wind installations by 2030.
