Guest: Michael Hilzinger – CIO, Knorr-Bremse
Host: Timo Deiner – Director, Cloud Transformation and Architecture
“SAP S/4HANA is the biggest transformation project in our 110 years company history” – a quote that describes the significance of the change in the company of my today’s guest.
Michael Hilzinger joined me and gave insights on his approach to transform to SAP S/4 HANA. Michael is CIO at the German manufacturer Knorr-Bremse. 110 years ago, they drastically improved the safety of trains by providing brakes and removing the so called “brake vans”, a manually operated braking system.
We spoke about the analogy from back then with a modern SAP S/4HANA system, the role and factors of change management in such a huge transformation and why it’s helpful to improve incrementally instead of a big bang move.
So, if you are interested in firsthand customer insights and perspectives, this episode is made for you. Grab your coffee and tune in.

Guest: Eric Carino – Chief Storyteller, SAP Executive Advisory & Architecture.
Host: Akshi Mohla – Business Development Director, SAP Global Industry & Value Advisory
From our very first memories, stories surround us, inspire us and enthrall us. The stories that we hear and the stories that we tell, define us. But can storytelling be a tool in Value Selling, packaging the customer’s desired goals, the art of the possible, and the value of digital transformation – all with a neat little bow?
To answer this, I am joined by Eric Carinp, the Chief Storyteller at SAP Executive Advisory & Architecture.
In his 18 years at SAP, Eric has been a strategic leader supporting sales pursuits across every Industry. During this time, he has seen the evolution of business and the demands for reinvention that companies are facing today.
As Chief Storyteller, Film Producer, and Director – Eric’s focus is helping others create the most compelling story possible while showing you how to deliver stories that make a difference. Some of his most recent projects include Levi Strauss, Disney, Amgen, Warner Media, T-Mobile, Zoom, Starbucks and U.S. Department of Defense to name a few.
This past month Eric was a featured speaker at 2022 NA Customer Success Summit and has also shared his methods with Global teams, including HXM and Concur Sales, Presales and Solution Architects.

He is very enthusiastic about the potential of the Metaverse, as it is closely overlapping with his passions for the entertainment industry as well as web3.
Karl has been with SAP for almost 7 years, having joined via the German Vocational Training Program in 2015. Since then, he became one of the key people to grow SAP’s Innovation Services and Solutions capability, applying intelligent technologies such as Distributed Ledgers or Artificial Intelligence to solve our customers business problems. Guest: Johannes Langguth – Vice President, Cloud Transformation and Architecture, SAP (MEE region)
Host: Timo Deiner – Director, Cloud Transformation and Architecture
A fresh coffee and a new guest: welcome to the SAP Experts Podcast! Today I am in conversation with my manager, Johannes Langguth. He is Vice President in the Cloud Transformation and Architecture Office in the MEE region at SAP. And we discuss if bringing business onboard is always required for transformation in a company? Should enterprise IT be reactive or is it easier to be proactive?
What if IT becomes an internal platform provider and turns from a cost center to a profit center? What are possible starting points for a transformation? Is an MVP which solves one specific challenge a good start to gain trust? Or is a “top down” approach by modernizing the whole IT landscape a first step to jumpstart transformation more from a strategic perspective?
Lots of questions – and you will find the answers in this episode. My name is Timo Deiner and you are listening to SAP Experts Podcast.

It is an immutable law in business that words are words, explanations are explanations, promises are promises – but only performance is reality. This quote by Harold Geneen rings especially true for sports teams as well, wherein the goal is to win.
But what role does a deeper understanding and data around your own team players, as well as the competitors, help in securing the wins? And what can other industries learn from the Sports industry. Since Superbowl was only last night, it is only fair for us to dive into the agile world of Sports Analytics!
My guest today, Bernhard Escherich is an SAP industry expert, with more than 20 years of experience with SAP. He was part of the SAP Sports Industry Business Unit when it began in 2015 until 2020.

He was a water polo player in his youth, and you can still find him at the pool every morning at 6.30am.

There are some studies which claim that the human attention span continues to decrease and might be as low as 8 seconds – that’s lower than a goldfish. While there are other studies which claim that humans were always cognitively distracted and hyper-alert creatures, which enabled us to accomplish complex tasks while still being aware of our surroundings.
Well, either way, one thing is true – the sheer amount of information around us is increasing, and as a result, we are always competing for the attention of our audiences. How do we create an enthralling enough experience, that could capture an audience for 10 mins, 30 mins, 2 hours?
Which is why, today, I am joined by two individuals who have mastered the art of creating compelling customer engagements – Cyril Rathogwa and Lars Elmquist!
My guest, Cyril, is a passionate football enthusiast and storyteller. He is a senior solutions adviser in the Intelligent Spend Business Network covering the entire Africa continent.
Cyril has over 15 years procurement experience in different industries. His experience includes consulting, procurement process re-engineering and advising clients in public, retail and financial sectors.
He also brings a vast amount of implementation experience of sourcing, contract management, procurement and inventory management systems, and has led support teams responsible for supporting and providing thought leadership for procurement applications.
Because of his vast knowledge in the procurement areas, Cyril often speaks on wide ranging procurement topics on various public forums.
My guest, Lars, began his SAP journey in 2015, and since the last 3 1/2 year has been the Global Solution Hub Lead for the Procurement Line of Business. His role is an amalgamation of Community Leadership, Content Management, Corporate Programs & Knowledge Sharing.
Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Lars is an expert of visual best practices. He uses visuals both in relation to his work, including internal and external presentations, and also privately, in his photography, sketching and whiteboards

This episode of SAP Experts Podcast is a full-circle moment for me. That’s because the very first episode I ever hosted, by myself, for SAP Experts Podcast was about gamified approaches being a game changer in business consulting and learning. In that episode, I discussed how SAP uses gamification to collaborate with our customers, while enabling Business Value Identification.
And in today’s episode, we revisit that topic, but this time we take the leap from theoretical to practical. Today we will talk about how the SAP S/4HANA Virtual Board Game simplifies the solution discovery, as well as the business value identification for our current customers and prospective customers. And not just that, but this gamified approach also provides useful, tangible outcomes to the players.
Which is why, today, I am joined by the brains behind this gamified approach, Saurabh Choudhuri.
Saurabh has over 13 years of Sales, Presales, Consulting & Agile Coaching experience in the IT industry, across various global firms. Saurabh joined SAP in 2011 as a “Management Intern” and during his tenure, has worked on many key customer facing projects like SAP ByDesign product launch, Ariba Sales and today, Saurabh is part of the SAP S/4HANA Go-To-Market & Solution Management, as the Sr. Global Director leading the Gamified SAP Value Discovery Experience track.
Saurabh also has an entrepreneurial spirit and has cofounded 2 .COM companies. He has an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and executive management diploma in Leadership & Strategy from Harvard Business School. On a personal note, Saurabh enjoys spending time with his 2 little girls & wife and trying local cuisines while travelling.
We are also joined by two returning guests Bill Bowers and Nabeel Siddiqui. Because a radical, innovative approaches like this one require leadership and teamwork to become a reality, which is what Bill, Nabeel and yours truly, provided.

What are you thinking about when you hear SAP and startups? David vs Goliath? Nokia vs Apple – and who has the role of Nokia in this comparison? Or is it a perfect match? Startups have great -mostly purpose driven- ideas to make the world better and SAP’s mission is to help the world run better. Does an early-stage startup need SAP S/4HANA or any other SAP solution to reach its next level? We think yes. And we have a dedicated team at SAP which helps startups, so called hypergrowth startups, to boost their company together with SAP. My today’s guest is Jan Gutknecht, he is Co-Founder of the SAP Hypergrowth Engagement and we are talking about four pillars on startup engagements: language, speed, challenges and cultures.

Storytelling is an intrinsic part of the human experience, dating back thousands of years. Much of history as we know it is due largely to stories being passed down through generations. There is nothing quite as compelling as a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. So how does this translate to the presentation space?
We will learn in today’s “storytelling special” episode of SAP Experts Podcast.
As always, my name Akshi Mohla, and I am a Senior Business Development Specialist at SAP S/4HANA Solution Management and Go-to-market; and you’re listening to SAP Experts Podcast.

With the acquisition of Ariba in 2012, he ended up back at SAP as a Vice-President of Network Strategy, uniquely with experience of procurement from both companies. In his current role he meets with procurement professionals to work with them on building the business case for SAP solutions. With the unofficial title of “Chief Storyteller” he tries to make a storyteller out of everyone through Social Media, new hire onboarding and mentoring. You’ll see him passionately preaching the procurement story of SAP to each new hire through his preferred medium of a whiteboard. He also contributes to the SAP story on social media, blogs and at events. Just don’t expect to see him using PowerPoint!
