A comedy podcast for people who love so-called bad movies. The gang at Bad Movies Rule dive into movies that have either been declared bad by critics or audiences to see if they really deserve to be on the trash pile or if they actually rule. Come have a laugh with us!
The podcast Bad Movies Rule! is created by Cowboy Jack Pictures. The podcast and the artwork on this page are embedded on this page using the public podcast feed (RSS).
A movie that is beloved by a generation somehow sits with critic scores low enough to put it on our radar. You may be shocked that we are covering National Treasure on our show, but think of this as the silver-lining of critics not being smart enough to recognize a crowd-pleaser when they see one. While it may be universally beloved, that doesn't meant that it has stood the test of time. So it's time to see if National Treasure and Nic Cage are still deserving of being considered national treasures.

If there was a world where human cloning was real, are we going to pretend like Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't one of the first people that we would clone? In The 6th Day we get two Arnolds for the price of one and I couldn't be more excited to talk about this one. It may have flopped at the box office, and started to spell the end for Arnold's dominance at the movie chains, but there is still a lot of fun to be had with this one. Michael Rooker, Robert Duvall round out a great cast and it even has the bad guy from Ghost. What more could you want?

Are we assembling again? You bet we are! It's time to join Gorilla, Hot Dog, Gypsy, The Fly and Steve as they head out to find Kandy Kane's father being held by an evil cult let by a guy with a glued-on Lincoln beard. Insane you say? Well isn't that half the fun with these early 80s martial arts flicks? We'll walk you through each scene of this incredibly realistic adventure. Just as long as you're ready to leave reality behind.

The movie that divided many couples over the last 16 years. This movie has been roasted to a crisp before, but we've been waiting for our chance to take a crack at Twilight just to see what all the fuss is about. Is it truly the abomination that some have made it out to be? Well, only if you don't like 30 second stare downs between sentences, glittery vampires and the worst baseball scene in movie history. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart took us on a ride, but did we end up anywhere that was worth going?

The summer of 97 was filled with fisherman chasing hot chicks with hooks so this was more of a documentary. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar tried to help their hot idiot boyfriends get away from the killer that they thought was dead! Do you love this movie, or has it aged as well as your pictures from the 90s?

A tiny doll continues his reign of terror against unsuspecting people that are five times his size. It's honestly impressive how Chucky (Brad Dourif) is able to have success as a pint-sized murderer! This sequel sees him once again chasing down Andy and trying to get out of the doll body that has become his prison. Will he be successful, and is the journey worth of being called a bad movie that rules?

A cult classic that was hammered by critics and split audiences has made its way onto many people's annual Halloween movie rotations. But does it deserve that status? It features an crazy performance by Matthew Lillard, a typically vapid Shannon Elizabeth, all while Tony Shalhoub wanderst the halls of this glass house wondering how he every made it into this movie.

Against our better judgement, we gave Bob control over the voicemail machine and he went to town. We touch on dead franchises, Jason joining Fast & Furious, and deal with the masses demanding a Twilight episode this Halloween. There's all that and so much more as people take shots at Bob and Curt almost chokes on his drink when we give Mel a new nickname.

There are bad movies, and there are movies so terrible that they transcend the entire genre and end up as mysterious relics to be studied by future generations. Not to take the name of another brilliant podcast, but HOW DID THIS GET MADE? Jerry Lewis and Madeline Kahn star as throbbing-foreheaded space twins in this movie that defies description. Just watch it. I DARE YOU. Or you can just listen to us walk you through it and spare yourself the pain.

The Russians have invaded, well at least one Russian and a bunch of non-descript terrorists and they are causing trouble nationwide! Will the police stop them? No, unfortunately there isn't a single cop available in the entire country, so we have to call in America's last hope, Matt Hunter aka Chuck Norris. Those he doesn't take down, he'll glare at them until they give up willingly. Is this a classic of the 1980s, or has nostalgia clouded our judgement?

Without John Goodman, they never could have made a Flintstones movie, so does that mean we blame him for this or praise him for this? There's plenty of people on both sides of the fence on whether or not this a Yabba-Dabba-Doo time or just a Doo-Doo time. Even our own hosts can't agree if this is an all time classic or an epic misfire. Time to head to Bedrock and find out.

Time to ride some warp whistles right back to the late 80s to California for Video Game Armageddon! Some called it a 2 hour commercial for Nintendo, and while that's hard to argue, does this movie have some heart at it's core that makes it even more than that? We follow Fred Savage as he tries to get his brother to the ultimate video game tournament and all kinds of ridiculousness ensues. Teenage runaways, professional kid-snatchers, angry truckers and a coked out video game MC make this a wild ride.

When Tim Burton hung up the directors hat and handed it over to Joel Schumacher, no one really knew what to expect. What we got was a Batman movie that was very different, but was it bad? There are people who will defend Batman Forever until the ends of the Earth and there are some who still aren't over the toy-selling tone of this movie. It's time to revisit it, so grab some drive-thru because the fat lady is on in five!

This movie has more one-liners than a Rodney Dangerfield set, while still having insane action and peak-form Bruce Willis, so why did it fail? It didn't connect with critics and was an absolute disaster behind the scenes. It's one of those movies people remember but rarely talk about - so it's time to go back and see if Last Boy Scout deserves to be called a bad movie.

Yo Joe! It's time to revisit the divisive live-action debut of the long-running GI Joe cartoon series. Plenty of long-time fans felt that the movie absolutely failed to accurately bring them to the big screen, while others thought it was a fun popcorn flick to be enjoyed with their brains turned off. So let's look back on it and determine whether or not this is lovable trash or just plain trash.

Even if you've never seen it, we are going to walk you through this Kris Kristofferson action movie, starring Jan Michael Vincent as his brother who was just looking for someone to clean up their small town. Who was terrorizing their town? Just the regular miners and dock workers! They put the wrong person in charge, and things get out of hand in this mid-70s action flick that is free of logic and shirts, mostly.

Considered by some as one of the quintessential buddy cop movies of the 80s, but destroyed by critics as an absolute mess. It's time to stroll down memory lane with Tango & Cash to see if the Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell-led comedy belongs in the Stone Age, or is an absolute banger.

It's a movie with a pilot named Maverick, a need for speed, starring a 5'8" actor - but it's not the one you wanted to see, instead, it's NEED FOR SPEED! Aaron Paul jumps into his first big Hollywood leading movie, while Michael Keaton never leaves the room he's in, and Dakota Johnson mails in a few scenes for good measure. That sounds like a recipe for a masterpiece if I ever heard one. Are real car crashes and beautiful race footage enough to save this movie?

Is it always safe to go back to the movies you once loved? Boondock Saints upon its DVD release had a period of time when it was beloved by men, both young and semi-young. Many dorm rooms adorned with posters and DVD's passed along. Having had our previous love affair with Boondock Saints, we haven't seen the movie in over 15 years and I'm concerned whether or not I will still love what I find. Sure, Willem Dafoe's performance will age like fine wine, but listen to find out if the rest of it holds up.

Sho Kosugi made a name for himself starring in ninja movies in the 1980s and after watching this it made us want to dive even deeper into his filmography. This is the third time one of his movies has been covered on our show, but the first in which he is the protagonist. This movie has more ninja gadgets than someone could carry, even though these guys seem to have 100 pockets each. It's 80s cheese mixed with legitimately awesome stunt work and insane plotting. Hope you enjoy it!

The critics hated this Brat-Pack western starring Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, and Kiefer Sutherland, and even though it was a hit enough with audiences to spawn a sequel the critics thought this was just straight 80's cheese, even though it's supposed to be in the 1880s. Does the movie deserve the title of Bad Movie, or is it much better than critics gave it credit for?

Cannon Films liked the script from Rambo 2, but hated the budget so they passed and then decided to make their own version! Chuck Norris has to head back into Vietnam, beard first to take out bad guys and bring his fellow Americans home. Featuring a smack-talking performance from James Hong and some insane stunts, but is that enough to make this a bad movie that rules?

We could have had Snake Plissken in space, but instead, we end up with Desolation Jones on Mars in what is essentially John Carpenter's goodbye to the studio system. Ice Cube replaces Kurt Russell, throw in Natasha Henstridge and Jason Statham (with hair!) and you've got the makings for a cult classic! But does the movie deserve a second life? Critics and audiences alike haven't been kind to it, so we take our swing to see if Ghosts of Mars is a bad movie that rules!

Arnold makes every movie better, but what can he do with a live-action Looney Tunes remake like The Villain? Kirk Douglas and Ann-Margret co-star with him as he was just figuring things out acting-wise. Regardless, does our primary thesis still hold water, or is this a cartoon that didn't lean enough into the cartooniness of its premise? Listen along as we go scene-by-scene through this comedy western with Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Even though critics came down on this film hard, most movie-goers gave this movie a TEN!! So who is right? Today we look at Varsity Blues to see if it still holds up as a great football movie, a great teen movie, and a a great James Vanderbeek movie (do such things exist?). At the very least it has an insane performance from Jon Voight with a little bit of Paul Walker sprinkled into the mix. If you dislike football, you don't want this movie!

Some say this is the greatest Bad movie of all time, up there with The Room & Troll 2, but still, we had never seen Samurai Cop ourselves. Having made our film previously with the same budget, we have a soft spot for micro-budget indies, and this one starring Matt Hannon (later Matt Karedas) and Robert Z'Dar (Tango & Cash) has to be seen to be believed. We delved into this cop movie where they don't really cop. Keep it warm.

This movie is like putting the best football players on a team and then they lose to the New York Jets. A seriously stunning cast of actors, featuring John Candy, Richard Lewis, John C. McGinley, Ellen Greene & Charles Rocket just rolled out of bed and decided to make a comedy with the boldest of approaches. What if we don't land a single joke? Sadly, this movie is more remembered for being the last film made by John Candy (Canadian Bacon filmed earlier). James, Rob, Nicole, and Patrick see if they can watch the movie and figure out where it all went wrong.

The embodiment of "we have Platoon at home", this Cannon Film was a far cry from their normal excess and nonsense as it looks like they tried to make a serious Vietnam movie with Michael Dudikoff (the guy from the American Ninja movies). Then they did the most Cannon thing ever and changed the name after Platoon came out to sound just like it. But is it any good? You'll have to listen to find out!

This prophetic movie may have disappeared (seriously, try and find it), but the legacy of it lives on. Was it a warning to the future that we all ignored, or was it a sign of the times that we just didn't realize was happening 30 long years ago? Jeremy Piven and David Spade star in this college flick about political correctness.

A giant snake wreaks havoc on an unsuspecting film crew! Is this one of those movies that's so bad it's great, or is it just bad? What did you think of Anaconda? Let us know!

A remake of the original Cabin Fever from just 14 years ago, because someone was brave enough to ask the question - "what if we did this movie again, but this time it sucked?" After everyone in the room was done clapping they actually made the thing! Same script, worse actors! James, Patrick, Mattila and Curt wade into this nonsense and take you through the movie scene by scene so you don't have to watch it yourself.

Steven Seagal and his prison durag team up with Ja Rule as they both try their best to embarrass themselves in this early 2000s action movie that takes place on Alcatraz. The only people trying to break out are the people that are embarrassed to be in this movie. Because of the time it came out, it does carry a certain charm from that era, and there is lots of ridiculousness to love and roast.

Did this movie deserve the beating it got from critics and audiences? The Lost World:Jurassic Park followed up one of the most beloved movies of all time, and it split audiences and critics down the middle. Jeff Goldblum was the only star that returned, and adding in Julianne Moore and Vince Vaughn was a big swing. We walk through this movie scene by scene, as always, roasting the bad and trying to find what was done well before giving our final verdict on Steven Spielberg's The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Knights of the Old Code! It is time to travel back to 1996 and revisit Dragonheart again to see if it still holds up. This is one of those movies that you either saw as a kid and loved it with all your heart, or you didn't see it until later and maybe it didn't hit quite as hard. How does it hold up 28 years down the line? Featuring Dennis Quaid and his disappearing accent, along with Sean Connery giving his all as the voice of Draco, this one had audiences and critics split. Let us know what you think about Dragonheart!

You either love this movie and have been defending it for the last 8 years, or you checked out back in 2016 as soon as you heard the word, MARTHA!! Either way, people have strong opinions on Batman vs. Superman and our hosts are no different. This film has been hotly debated among our group since before we even had a podcast, which is why it made perfect sense to save this one for one of our big episodes, number 150! The gloves are off and we are going to go through this movie and defend it or destroy it, so no matter what side you're on, you'll be represented here.

Ratings wise this may be the 7th lowest film we've covered, but I'd rather watch almost anything else than this again. Dragon Wars is one of the worst movies ever made, and yet at the time of release was one of the most anticipated Korean films ever to come out. It somehow cleaned up at the international box office, and now it lands in our laps on Bad Movies Rule. Hopefully, you didn't watch it and you just listen to us nuke this thing from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Back in the magical land of the 1990s, Hollywood was turning over every rock they could to find the next great martial arts movie star! Step into the spotlight, Jeff Speakman! A Kenpo master with undeniable skill and technique, but it takes more than that to be a movie star. Let's throw every Asian bad guy from every 80's action movie ever made and see if they can carry him to victory! Featuring incredible fight scenes, and an absurdly mute performance from Mariska Hargitay - listen to the guys decide if this is just straight-up bad or maybe it's a bad movie that rules!

While not the first ever made, chronologically first in the saga, and if we had started here we may never have received 8 other sequels. For some that's a good thing, for others, it would be a tragedy. The prequels have been equally praised by the younger generation and destroyed by the older ones, but at its heart is it actually a terrible movie? We go through it scene by scene to see if it deserves the title or not. Not a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, but right here and now.

This is one of those classic bad movies that's been skewered by the best (MST3K), and it's time that we had our crack at it! The patrons voted for this one and so we're off to the desert to follow Billy as he stumbles around blowing up everything he can with his arm cannon while avoiding bullies and attacks from giant shell-less turtles! One of the original side-scrolling beat'em ups of the 1980s was turned into a movie, so you can probably guess how that turned out. Mark Dacascos and Scott Wolf star as Jimmy and Billy and they (kind of) kick their way through the gangs of a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. You've got rampaging mutants that look like part of the male anatomy, Alyssa Milano as a gang leader, and renegade mailmen, but is it a bad movie that rules or just straight-up bad? Double Dragon is on the block!

Tommy Lee Jones has 72 hours to steal back a rocket car, and he wastes 98% of that time rolling around with Linda Hamilton. Does this heist movie deserve a second look from audiences, who have it rated at a 29% audience score? Or does this rocket car need to drive off a cliff never to show its face again? Nicole, Clint, James, and Bob dive into a scene-by-scene analysis (roast) and take through the entire thing!

In an alternate future 1984, Tom Selleck is a beat cop chasing down runaway robots. Gene Simmons (yeah, the dude from KISS) is wreaking havoc with killer robo-spider, and only Tom Selleck and his bulletproof mustache can stop him. Featuring a fantastic performance by Cynthia Rhodes as Tom's partner, Karen Thompson. Does this Michael Crichton-directed thriller pass muster, or is it just another cheesy 80's sci-fi flick?

Jaws 2 has been largely rejected by audiences as a cash grab at worst or a low-rent retread of the original at best. The audience's scores are low, but does Jaws 2 deserve a second look? Plus a shark eats a helicopter and that's cool, no matter where you're from!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze has been blasted by critics, and while it was beloved by children back in the 90s, what do those kids think now? Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello take on the Shredder (or spoiler alert: they don't) and try to save New York one more time, while also learning where they came from! Let's imagine a Ninja Turtle movie where they never use their weapons, but are sticklers for observing the traditional pre-fight donut.

Stephanie, Joe, and the Mayor are back in Perfection alongside Burt Gummer as he continues to have the worst luck ever. No matter how many killer dirtworms (aka Graboids) he takes out, they seem to follow him all over the world. This time, back in his hometown, will he be able to stop them for good? Given that there are 7 Tremor's movies, I'm guessing no. At least we can have fun roasting all of this ridiculousness along the way.

What if Ben Affleck amid "misses" Forces of Nature and Bounce, made a heist movie that had plot twists on top of its plot twists, featuring an unhinged Gary Sinise and a young (crazy) Charlize Theron? A recipe for success you might think, but Reindeer Games got blasted by critics, and audiences and it bombed financially. Where did it go wrong? It had a great writer and an all-time director John Frankenheimer. Is it time to re-assess Reindeer Games or does it deserve its spot in the garbage heap of 90's cinema?

Imagine the pitch meeting - "It's Santa Claus, right, but this one has muscles!" PRINT THE MONEY! Now, the rest of us are left to pick up the pieces of Hulk Hogan's Santa With Muscles (1996). Previous Hulk Hogan movies had him playing different versions of himself, and here he attempts to act and play a different character. It goes about as well as you'd expect. Many questions will be answered - how did Mila Kunis bury this performance? How can a lawn ornament bench press 300 pounds? Why is Ed Leslie playing an Asian? We'll pull it all apart, and then give out some awards, including our worst actor award, the "Steve Seagal" Trash Can Full of Dirt.

Not too many movies out there featuring Jet Li in dreadlocks, but this is where we find ourselves. Even though The One (2001) is rated very low by critics, some swear this is an awesome movie. The movie made us laugh, we're just not sure it was supposed to. It also features one of the best Jet Li fights we've ever seen. We go scene by scene and answer the important questions - how did Jet Li get with Carla Gugino? Why is the only thing different in each parallel universe his hairdo? Why does Jason Statham have hair, and why can't he fight in this? We'll pull it all apart, and then give out some awards, including our worst actor award, the "Steve Seagal" Trash Can Full of Dirt.

Lace-up your high tops, folks! We're about to journey back to 1984 and witness the classic/catastrophe that is "Breakin'" (1984). Directed by Joel Silberg, who I'm sure has lots of breakdancing experience, this film doesn't have a single cardboard dance floor or Adidas tracksuit.
We will break down the dance moves that somehow pass as the pinnacle of '80s street style. With a great soundtrack but a plot thinner than the spandex in an '80s workout video, "Breakin'" is a time capsule of dance moves and fashion choices that we thought were cool at the time.
But here's the burning question: Does "Breakin'" transcend its retro charm to become a genre-defining classic, or is it just a dance disaster that time forgot? Grab your boombox and join us as we breakdance our way through the laughs, delivering our verdict on Breakin!

BMR delves into the '90s cyber-thriller abyss as we unravel the tangled web of "The Net" (1995). Directed by Irwin Winkler, this film shows us floppy disks that could destroy the world and the glorious 90s version of the internet.
Join us as we hack our way through the implausible scenario of Sandra Bullock's loner shut-in who's unable to get a date. In this episode, we are so split we spend half the time arguing about the complexity of ordering pizza online. "The Net" is a nostalgic trip back to the days when we feared the World Wide Web more than appreciated it.
Does "The Net" transcend its '90s nostalgia and remain a taut tech thriller, or is it just a pixelated relic in the annals of cyber cinema? Join us as we surf the net with laughter, delivering our verdict on whether "The Net" is a tech-thriller masterpiece or a dial-up era dud.

If 'Terminator Salvation' had a user manual, it would be one page long: 'Don't let the machines win. Also, don't yell at the crew.' Here we dive headfirst into the mayhem of "Terminator Salvation." Directed by McG, this film promises killer robots, Christian Bale's infamous on-set rant, and the eternal question: 'How did Skynet ever become self-aware but not aware enough to know where the resistance is?'
With a plot that's as tangled as a bunch of tangled wires, "Terminator Salvation" is a rollercoaster ride of questionable decisions. Can robots go to therapy? They may want to after being in this movie.
But here's the burning question: Does "Terminator Salvation" rise like a Phoenix (or Terminator) from the ashes of its mixed reviews, or is it just another misstep in the franchise? Join us as we reload our humor circuits, delivering our verdict on whether "Terminator Salvation" is a killer hit or a 'seriously, what were they thinking?' glitch in the matrix.

Hold onto your maple syrup, folks, because we're diving deep into "Yoga Hosers". Directed by Kevin Smith, this film promises bratwurst Nazis, teenage clerks, and a healthy dose of nepotism.
'Yoga Hosers' is like an inside joke at a party you weren't invited to. You'll chuckle politely, but you'll wonder what you're missing.
But here's the burning question: Does "Yoga Hosers" transcend its absurdity and find a place in the realm of 'so bad, it's good' cinema, or is it just another in a line of flops for this filmmaker? Join us as we stretch our comedic muscles, delivering our verdict on whether "Yoga Hosers" is a downward dog of a movie or a Zen master of hilarity.

Prepare for a survival horror experience like no other as we venture into the zombified world of "Resident Evil" (2002) on the Bad Movies Rule Podcast. Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, this action-horror rollercoaster promises viral outbreaks, and Milla Jovovich kicking zombie dogs in the face.
Join us as we navigate the treacherous halls of the mysterious Hive, where the Umbrella Corporation's secrets and zombies lurk around every corner, but none of the video game characters do. Also, who thought AI-controlled doors were a great idea?
But here's the million-dollar question: Does "Resident Evil" emerge as a blood-soaked triumph in the realm of video game adaptations, or is it just another baffling entry in the world of zombie cinema?

Get ready for a bite of the '80s as we sink our teeth into "Once Bitten" (1985). Directed by Howard Storm, this vampire comedy promises more laughs, campy moments, and questionable fashion choices than a decade full of neon and leg warmers.
Join us as we follow the tale of Mark Kendall, played by a young Jim Carrey, who's targeted by a centuries-old vampire in need of some fresh blood. With characters so eccentric, you'd think they were auditioning for an '80s music video, "Once Bitten" is a cinematic time capsule of everything wonderfully wacky about the '80s.
But here's the burning question: Does "Once Bitten" sink its fangs into comedy gold, or is it just another laughable relic from a bygone era? Join us as we unearth the undead hilarity, delivering our verdict on whether "Once Bitten" is a charmingly cheesy hit or a "seriously, what were they thinking?" miss.

This week we talk about the 1987 re-quel (?) Evil Dead 2 starring The Chin himself, Bruce Campbell. Seriously, his eyebrow acting in this movie deserved its own Oscar category. At the very least his chin or his hand should have gotten their own acting credits as they carry this movie centered around an evil force terrorizing people in a lonely cabin deep in the woods.
Why did "Father" have to come to this remote cabin to read the Necronomicon? We don't ask salient questions here, we just chop at stuff with our chainsaw hands. This is an important life lesson to learn from this movie, when faced with a problem remove your own hand and replace it with a chainsaw. Problem solved!

In 'Werewolves Within,' the biggest mystery isn't who's the werewolf, it's why anyone in their right mind would want to live in Beaverfield. We're sinking our teeth (hit the pun counter) into "Werewolves Within" (2021) on the Bad Movies Rule Podcast.
Join us as we navigate the residents of Beaverfield, trapped by a snowstorm and one of them is a werewolf. The town's emergency plan in 'Werewolves Within' seems to consist of screaming and running in random directions. If only the characters in this film were as good at detecting werewolves as they are at making bad decisions.
Does "Werewolves Within" claw its way into the hall of fame for hilarious horror comedies, or does it just leave us howling at the absurdity?

Here's the burning question - does "The A-Team" hit the bullseye as a nostalgic tribute to the 80s show, or is it just another loud mindless action movie? The critics hated it but even though the audience liked it, not enough people went to see it to justify a sequel.
We go scene by scene through the movie. Murdock makes a plan and every one of them is about as foolproof as a screen door on a submarine. Murdock's insanity is the only thing that makes sense in this crazy movie, and Face is so smooth he could charm a grizzly bear into bed.

Get ready for the world of "Blind Fury" (1989). Directed by Phillip Noyce, this action-packed adventure delivers more sword-swinging action and eyebrow-shaving moments than you can imagine.
We follow Rutger Hauer's portrayal of Nick Parker, a blind Vietnam War vet with some seriously impressive sword skills. While he can fight better than sighted people, he ends up stuck in a situation that becomes like a terrible NPC escort mission. With the most henchman I've seen a bad guy have on the payroll in a while, and a plot that takes more detours than your last road trip, "Blind Fury" is a cinematic experience that defies easy categorization.
But here's the big question: Does "Blind Fury" manage to carve out its own unique place in '80s action cinema, or is it just a quirky footnote in the grand history of movies? Join us as we navigate this unpredictable journey, delivering our verdict on whether "Blind Fury" is a surprisingly entertaining hit or a head-scratching "seriously, what were they thinking?" miss.

It's time to venture into the wild world of "DOA: Dead or Alive" (2006). Directed by Corey Yuen, this action-packed ride promises more kicks, flips, and roller girls than you would typically find on a Saturday night at a karate dojo.
Join us as we follow a group of martial artists, including Jaime Pressly, Holly Valance, and Devon Aoki, on a mission that's part fighting tournament, part volleyball game, and all parts bewildering. With characters so thinly sketched they make a paper doll look three-dimensional and a plot that's about as coherent as a tumble down a flight of stairs.
But here's the ultimate question: Does "DOA: Dead or Alive" rise as a guilty pleasure in the pantheon of martial arts cinema, or is it simply a punchline in the grand joke of cinematic history?

Get ready as we dissect "Elektra" (2005) on the Bad Movies Rule Podcast. Directed by Rob Bowman, this flick promises more ninja action, but my step dad made promises too and look where that got us.
Join us as we follow Jennifer Garner's portrayal of Elektra Natchios (not Nachos, sadly), an assassin with supernatural skills that she rarely uses, on a mission that's part NPC escort quest, part fighting F List characters, and all parts perplexing. With villains so dumb, they make you question why you're watching, and a plot trying so hard, it rivals a tween at a sleepover.
But here's the million-dollar question: Does "Elektra" shine as an unintentional comedy gem in the superhero genre, or is it just a punchline in the grand joke of cinematic history? Join us as we slice and dice our way through the madness, delivering our verdict on whether "Elektra" is a hilariously electrifying hit or a super-powered "seriously, what were they thinking?" miss.

Get ready to dive into a world where the fog's thicker than your uncle's conspiracy theories – we're about to unravel The Fog (2005). Directed by Rupert Wainwright, this film is so foggy, you'll need a GPS just to find the plot.
Join us as we step into a town where the Fog literally out-acts Tom Welling, Maggie Grace, and Selma Blair. We're talking more mist, less clarity, and a suspense level that's more "wait, what?" than edge-of-your-seat.
But here's the real question: Will The Fog leave us spooked, or just scratching our heads like we're in a daze? Grab your flashlight (and maybe a foghorn, just in case), and join us as we venture into the haze, the haunts, and the hilariously hazy moments of this fog-filled thriller.

Get ready to dial up your nostalgia, because we're digging deep into the '90s with Encino Man (1992). This flick is a wild ride through teenage awkwardness, caveman confusion, and more cheesy humor than you can shake a club at, along with a surprisingly unlikeable performance from Sean Astin.
Join us on the Bad Movies Rule Podcast as we unearth the hilarity of Brendan Fraser and Pauly Shore taking us on a journey that's part buddy comedy, part prehistoric pandemonium. From the moment we accidentally dig up a frozen caveman in a backyard, you know you're in for a ride that's, well, as unexpected as a caveman in a Los Angeles suburb, even though he seems perfectly fine with it.
But the real question is, does Encino Man still have the chops to rock our socks off, or has it turned into a fossil of cringe-worthy '90s clichés? Grab your slap bracelets and neon windbreakers, because we're diving headfirst into the world of Encino Man to see if this flick is a buried treasure or just another relic of a bygone era.

The sword-and-sorcery spectacle, Red Sonja (1985) showcases Brigitte Nielsen as the titular character, a warrior with a thirst for vengeance and a wardrobe that's more revealing than practical. While Red Sonja trains tirelessly to avenge her family's murder and save her kingdom (and maybe find actual armor), Lord Kalidor sweeps in with his trademark Austrian accent, ready to take on the villainous Queen Gedren.
Red Sonja - a film where the titular character is just a supporting act to the Austrian Oak that is Arnold Schwarzenegger. So grab your swords (and maybe some hairpins to tame that mane), and join us on this comically unbalanced adventure where even when it's supposed to be her moment, Arnie's just too much to overcome.

In the cinematic gem that defies the laws of logic and truck safety, Rolling Vengeance (1987), we embark on a journey of vengeance that's as ludicrous as it is entertaining. Here, a grieving hero decides that regular revenge isn't enough - he needs a monster truck to settle the score (because why confront your enemies when you can run them over?).
Our protagonist, played by Don Michael Paul, takes the phrase "go big or go home" to heart as he crafts a monstrous four-wheeled avenger capable of crushing both cars and common sense. It's a film that proves when life gives you grief, build a monster truck and smash your problems away.

In the dark and devilishly entertaining film, Constantine (2005), we follow the enigmatic John Constantine, portrayed with his signature "whoa" by the one and only Keanu Reeves. Constantine battles demons, angels, and his own charmingly deadpan delivery.
Critics may have been less enchanted than Lucifer himself, but audiences embraced the film's devilish charm. Keanu Reeves' portrayal of the chain-smoking, demon-hunting exorcist may have left some questioning if he was fighting evil or just seeking nicotine, but his cool demeanor won over fans. We have come to answer the question - which one was right? Fans or critics?
Bad Movies Rule takes you on a wild ride of holy water, fiery battles, and a constant stream of one-liners that will leave you laughing and questioning reality. Grab your rosaries and exorcise your doubts and enjoy this episode!

In the timeless masterpiece of cinema, "Breaker! Breaker!" (1977), we are graced with the man who can roundhouse kick his way out of any situation, Chuck Norris. He plays J.D. Dawes, a tough and fearless trucker who takes the law into his own hands (because why wait for the police?).
James, Joe, Farrell, and Mel try to figure out if this movie is a good-bad or just bad-bad. Chuck delivers his lines with the subtlety of a sledgehammer and showcases his martial arts skills that defy the laws of physics (because Chuck Norris jokes are not just jokes, they're facts).

In the cinematic masterpiece that defies the boundaries of logic and reason, Iron Eagle: On The Attack (1995), we witness the triumphant return of Lou Gossett Jr. as Colonel Chappy Sinclair, a man who seems to need a new swimming pool. Prepare to be blown away by the sheer audacity of the filmmakers as they "grace" us with the resurrection of the infamous Doug Masters, who somehow manages to cheat death and rejoin the world of fighter jets (because who needs continuity?). Let us bear witness to Lou Gossett Jr. deliver lines with the gravitas of a sleepwalking senior citizen.

In the cinematic masterpiece of pure brilliance, Nick Fury: Agent of Shield (1998), we're graced with the presence of David Hasselhoff as the iconic Marvel character. Hoff takes on the role of the gruff and stoic Nick Fury, an agent with an eyepatch and an uncanny ability to deliver lines with the utmost seriousness (or was that unintentional hilarity?). Joined by a leather-clad Lisa Rinna, Fury must protect New York from the diabolical villain, the wonderfully over-the-top Sandra Hess as Viper, and her army of underwhelming henchmen. Will our hero overcome the obstacles, or will he succumb to the power of his own questionable acting choices? Join us as walk you through all of the cringe-worthy dialogue, laughable special effects, and the sheer absurdity of Hasselhoff attempting to be a superhero. James, Clint, and the Mayor sit down to dissect this "masterpiece" of '80s sci-fi cinema, The Vindicator (1986) The captivating tale of Carl Lehman, a scientist who becomes the unfortunate victim of a tragic lab accident (cue dramatic music). But fear not, for the wonders of monkey-based corporate science come to the rescue! In a stroke of genius, they transform Carl into a bionic man (because movie scientists will never learn not to play God). Now, armed with superhuman strength and endurance, our bionic protagonist embarks on a mission fueled by the most profound of motivations: revenge! Watch as Carl, with all the emotional depth of a rusty tin can, battles the villains responsible for his predicament. Also, his ex-best friend tries to get with his smoking-hot wife.
Starring a bunch of Canadians, Pam Grier, and Stan Winston made the suit, so that's good.

Looking to cash in on the 80's trend of stand-up comedians starring in movies, The Wrong Guys scours the C-list for a film about a group of grown men trying to relive their Cub Scout glory days. But in reality, it's just a story about a six-foot-tall man-baby almost getting himself and his friends killed by John Goodman in the woods.
Starring Louie Anderson, Richard Lewis, and John Goodman, the movie is a mess of awkward jokes, cheesy slapstick humor, and wooden acting. Still, it has its charms and features a bonkers final 30 minutes.

Johnny 5 is alive for another movie and this time he is rolling around Unnamed US City looking for input. The only other cast member coming back from the original was Fisher Stevens as Ben, and this time they added Michael McKean to the mix. One year before he would become John Wick, Keanu Reeves starred in this retelling of a true story that absolutely bombed at the box office. Critics almost universally panned it, but audiences have been split. Today we go through this thing scene by scene and ultimately try to determine if this movie is just straight trash, or actually good. At the very least, it could just be a bad movies that rules.

Clint Eastwood teamed up with pre-Tiger Blood Charlie Sheen to take on a German (?) Raul Julia and Sonia Braga. Daman Wayans first big star vehicle. The critics hated it and deemed it "bad" but this movie seems to be beloved by the people. Why, is a completely different question - because I'm not so sure it's aged all that well. Comedy in the 90s was about loosely built plots constructed around big (sometimes annoying) characters. Then let the laughs commence. The four of us were pretty split, but I wonder what you think?

A movie that seemingly has everything - post apocalyptic setting, Lori Petty dialed to 11, and Ice-T as a mutant kangaroo - somehow still managed to be a giant smoking failure of a comic book movie when it came out. Now it has a lot of fans, but are they right? Is this a bad movie that rules or just a bad movie?

Wait, did John Candy make any bad movies? This is a movie that was nostalgic for many, but upon further review may not be what we thought it once was. John Candy and Eugene Levy team up again, but had the director walk out in the middle of production.

The sequel (remake?) (requel?) of Escape from New York was said by some critics to be the end of John Carpenter's Hollywood career. But is it actually bad? Isn't Kurt Russell surfing with Peter Fonda into Steve Buscemi's care the greatest idea ever realized on film? We answer all those questions and more.

We've covered some of the worst ninja movies ever, so is that finally a great one? Just because it stars a K-Pop boy band star in the lead role, don't be too quick to judge this intense (hyper-violent) slash fest. It's absolutely bonkers, but sometimes that's a good thing.

Sometimes also known as American Warrior - this movie features one of the worst performances by a leading man in BMR history. This is the first of five movies in the series and after sitting through this one we are at the same time excited and terrified to watch the other four. One thing we are confident in, is that no ninjas were injured in the making this movie, because it was clear that no actual ninjas appeared.

Buckaroo Bonzai, a rockstar, a surgeon, and all around nice guy leads the Hong Kong Cavaliers into battle. Is this a weird movie? Does that help?

For a long time this movie has been the punching bag of Hollywood and held up as an example of a big budget flop. The BMR crew takes a look back at Waterworld to see if it truly deserves to still be a punchline, or with time and age has the movie actually become something much more - is it actually good? Water Costner fights a greasy Dennis Hopper in this post-apocalyptic film set 500 years in the future, which also still has totally still functioning jet-skis.

Never before has a movie surprised us as much as Winners Take All. A seemingly throw away 80s movies about a bunch of bros riding dirt bikes actually turned out to be surprising engrossing. The only returning cast member from a previous Bad Movies Rule episode is Deborah Richter who was in Cyborg. Don Michael Paul (the future director) and Kathleen York star in this admittedly cheesy but awesome bike flick.
The guests that join James Hauser for this episode are Clint and Joe (who also covered RAD, the other bike movie BMR covered), and joining them is Ryan M. Did the guys like it as much as James?

This episode goes off the rails at multiple points, because the BMR crew can't keep it together while discussing the worst martial arts movie to feature gymnastics. Gymkata starred a very talented gymnast, Kurt Thomas, who was supposed to blend his talents with karate to strike fear into his opponents, but the results are largely hilarious.

In the early 80's there existed two Conan movies. One was good and the other was Conan the Destroyer. The movie that was famous for being a financial failure gets a chance at redemption. Is this the bad movies that people have claimed, or is there a diamond under all of the rough parts? Also, after 24 episodes of handing out an award named after Will Patton, we finally are talking about a film featuring an wonderfully intense performance from the man himself. The greatest martial arts movie to ever feature glowing martial artists, Bruce Lee's belt buckle and the kid from Surf Ninjas. This 80s gem is almost as bonkers as whatever the filmmakers were on when they put this thing together. It's hilarious, the final fight scene is actually well done, and it's 100% rewatchable. But is it a good movie? Listen to the BMR crew trying to figure that out. On a podcast that celebrates the movies of the common people, this is a love letter to underappreciated employees across the globe. Upon release, it was dismissed by critics and the award givers ignored it. It was regular people who found and elevated this movie to an all-time classic. So what do the experts know?? We examine Office Space to dig through all the reasons why this film has stood the test of time. The main reason: John C. McGinley.

The Bad Movie Rules crew tackles our third Van Damme movie on this show, the under-watched, under-appreciated gem, Cyborg. Don't expect us to run through a lot of Steven Seagal movies because there's very few that I can stand to sit through. Hard to Kill however, has a special place in my heart from my young adult life. I watched this movie way too many times. I have the power! That might have been the catchphrase but by the time production on this movie was over that phrase took on a whole new meaning. The first in the "actors-being-forced-into-real-scenarios" movies, and is considered by some to be a comedy classic. Although there are some even in the cast who think this is one of the worst movies they ever made. Does this film stand up to the test of time? Is it a bad movie that rules or just a bad movie? Tight guys in tight clothes doing tight things. That is Megaforce - it's as if the movie was written by a ten year old playing with his Hot Wheels in the sandbox. Have you ever seen an A-Team episode, now imagine if it was a full length movie, but instead of Mr. T you had Barry Bostwick in a skin tight golden suit. Does that sound awesome? Pleeeese Halp - I used to be so lukewarm on the Fifth Element. Even though I was a big fan of Bruce Willis, at the time this came out I didn't think much of it. It was okay, but I never thought it was worth revisiting. After coming back to it at the suggestion of our first time guest, Jesse Hurst - I have now fallen in love with this movie. This is almost exclusively due to a new found appreciation for Milla Jovovich and her performance in this film, along with the undeniable chemistry between her and Bruce. We were joined by my long time friend and collaborator but also first time guest Nicole Frier and our one of our regulars, the Nebraskan himself, Brady Cox. Some movies that you may have felt one way about, might be worth a second look. I truly believe that certain movies hit different depending on where we are in life when we encounter them.

The movie based on a trading card (which is always a great basis for a movie) was a huge box office flop when it came out. Even though there were thousands of kids who liked the Garbage Pail Kids, they couldn't get them to come see the movie. The truth is it was doomed from the start by a horrible plot (they form a sweat shop to meet a teenage girls demand for a fashion show) or animatronic heads that don't work (nightmare fuel). Whatever it was, this film is a disaster and we try to find a single redeeming quality. Is there a reason that this movie actually rules?

The movie that sees Jean Claude Van Damme roundhouse kick time right in it's stupid face. This is a fun time travel movie even if the majority of the time they are traveling back and forth between an indistinguisable 1994 and 2004. This is much more story-driven than typical JCVD fare, but it's a great movie and a lot of fun, with a great payoff in the final 30 minutes. Give it a watch and then come join us to pull it apart.

The duck that almost sank George Lucas, while also simultaneously being responsible for Pixar's creation. Howard the Duck is a movie that has no idea what it wants to be. Does it want to be a kids movie? A comic book adventure? An 80's sex comedy? It ends up being none of these things, yet somehow ends up with a large cult following 35 years later. We examine the movie and try to find some redeeming qualities, but here's a hint, one of them is not Tim Robbin's performance. Come and have a laugh with us.

Stallone was headlining the last big summer blockbuster of his original run as a top box office draw. There were lots of behind-the-scenes struggles concerning the tone of Judge Dredd and what movie they should make. What is great about 1995's Judge Dredd? What didn't make any sense at all? Was the 1995 version better than the 2012 version? We dive deep into this futuristic Stallone action movie and wonder about Dredd's power fist, and the physics of the Flame Pipe.

One of the most unintentionally hilarious movies to ever be released about a white rapper chasing after a high school horse girl. Yes, this movie is horrible, but it's horrible in the best way possible. I'm a little disappointed in myself for having such a good time watching this and talking about it. So here it is - a stunningly accurate portrayal of the kind of guy a horse girl goes for. Cool as Ice!

Imagine having to fight your last seven podcast hosts before moving on to a new podcast? Would you fight for us? Don't worry, we love you even if you don't love us. Today on the podcast we discuss Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. This movie bombed upon release, but is it bad? Short answer, no. It's incredible and we can't fathom why people didn't go see this movie when it came out. At the time many actors in this cast weren't household names - now many of them are A-List! We give out awards, and pick who each of us believed to be the top 3 performers!
We also ask and answer the most important question - if the 7 evil exes were forced to fight each other, who would emerge victorious?
Hosted by James Hauser, Curt Mummer, Joseph Goratowski, and with special guest Josh Servi.

We're not your typical podcasters, we're not the favorites...we're the other guys! In this episode, James and Clint are joined by Mike Svara as they discuss, argue, vent, and dissect the cult superhero movie, Mystery Men. We discuss the characters, who we loved, and who we'd rather go through a painful surgery then listen to.
We have plenty of praise for the movie that now appears to have been way ahead of it's time. Who will win the coveted Will Patton award and why did this randomly turn into a Warriors knock-off at the end? Come join us and let's discuss Mystery Men.

The screenwriter for this masterpiece, Frank Cappello joins the guys to discuss the 1991 classic Hulk Hogan movie, Suburban Commando. We break the film down, and then Frank joins us to talk about how much the film changed from his orginal script, along with some behind the scenes story about the making of the film. Did you know it was inspired by an old Sci-Fi Classic from the 50s?
This movie came out when we were 6th graders and so that probably has something to do with why we love it. As always we pick the top performers in the film, break down the best quotes in the script and give out the coveted Will Patton Award.
Also, what wrestler could they remake this movie with today and have it still be just as cheesy? We want to hear from you so feel free to email us at [email protected] and follow us on Facebook.com/BadMoviesRule - thank you for listening - we love you!

The crew revisits Hudson Hawk at Brady's request. What kind of movie does it want to be? Buddy comedy? Hard action? Saturday morning cartoon? We love it because there's nothing else like it out there - but does that mean it's a good-bad movie or just bad-bad? Let's find out together.
We also award the Will Patton Award, Top 3 Performances, and Top 5 Quotes from the movie along with trying to figure out what our candy bar codenames would be.

We dive into maybe the best bad movie ever made? It certainly is the best live-action Street Fighter movie ever made. This episode could have been the Raul Julia appreciation hour, but we made ourselves discuss the entire film.
