Murugiah has chosen Jodorowsky's Dune (90 mins). Directed by Frank Pavich, the 2013 documentary follows Alejandro Jodorowsky's attempt to make a film adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi novel Dune. 

Sam and Murugiah discuss how Jodorowsky gathered his 'spiritual warriors' to work on the project, how not making the movie became a huge influence on sci-fi cinema - from Ridley Scott's Alien to much much more - and how seeing Jodorowsky's El Topo changed Murugiah's life.

Sam and Ellen discuss Frank Silvera's mixed-race heritage and what that brings to the film, Kubrick's ability to maximise his limited production budget to big effect and how the location shooting depicts a 1950s New York City.

Computer Chess with Celine Song

This year, 2023, marks the 10th anniversary of the release of Ben Wheatley's A Field In England (90 mins). Written by Amy Jump, it stars Reece Shearsmith, Michael Smiley, and Peter Ferdinando. 

In this 90 Minutes or Less Spotlight episode Ben talks to Sam about the origins of the movie, shooting over 10 days on a micro budget, and watching the film for the first time in a decade. 

Ben's new film Meg 2: The Trench starring Jason Statham is in cinemas from 4 August.

This 1982 cult classic juxtaposes Cold War history, propaganda, music and culture, seamlessly crafted from government-produced educational and training films, newsreels and advertisements.

The Mascot (Fétiche 33-12) with Peter Lord

Sam Clements is curating a fictional film festival. He'll accept almost anything, but the movie must not be longer than 90 minutes. This is the 90 Minutes Or Less Film Fest podcast.

In episode 76 Sam is joined by Peter Lord, co-founder and Creative Director of Aardman Animations. Peter is the creator of Morph, co-director of Chicken Run and executive producer on the iconic Wallace & Gromit films. 

Peter has chosen W?adys?aw Starewicz's The Mascot (aka Fétiche 33-12). This stop-motion animated short was originally released in 1934 and is 34 minutes long. The film has been recently restored and is available on DVD (search for Fétiche 33-12) and a 4K version is also available to watch on YouTube

Sam and Peter discuss the history of Aardman Animations, the astonishing stop-motion animation work in The Mascot and the fate of the iconic skiing gas cooker in A Grand Day Out.
