Dr. Gabor Maté ON: Understanding Your Trauma & How to Heal Emotional Wounds to Start Moving On From the Past Today

Today, I talk to Dr. Gabor Maté. A celebrated speaker and bestselling author, Dr. Gabor Maté is highly sought after for his expertise on a range of topics, such as addiction, stress, and childhood development. Dr. Maté has written several bestselling books, including the award-winning In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction; When the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress; and Scattered Minds: The Origins and Healing of Attention Deficit Disorder. He is also the co-author of Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peers. His works have been published internationally in more than thirty languages.

Dr. Maté generously shares his deep understanding of childhood trauma, vulnerability, grief, and emotional distress. He explains what real trauma is and how time doesn?t necessarily lead to healing, how vulnerability is ingrained in us since we are young and the importance of these formative years to mold our emotional health, and the societal expectations we always try to meet but have never truly given us real fulfillment. We also exchange thoughts on dealing with grief, how we struggle to identify with the people we look up to, and how childhood experience varies for every child even when they are raised in a similar environment.

Trauma is a wound that has not fully healed which can be triggered at any point in our life so it matters that we are able to find a common ground and stay firm in what can give us healing, emotional stability, and happiness.

3 Ways to Stop Feeling Stuck and Start Turning Your Life Around & How to Break Free From the Noise

Today, I?m going to share with you my first ever public interview with my friend Tom Bilyeu of the Impact Theory podcast. It is one of my favorite conversations because we talk about the power self awareness has in influencing your relationships with others especially with the people close to you and at work.

I also talk about breaking free from the norm, from what society expects from us, and from the limits we have set for ourselves. Once we become self aware, we can then start asking questions that need honest answers and we can often get these answers from people we look up to and from our experiences. And as the level of self awareness increases, we make better decisions and eventually, enjoy positive results.

Alex Cooper ON: Overcoming Self-Doubt & How to Give Yourself Permission to Outgrow the Past

Today, I talk to Alex Cooper. Alex is the creator, host, and executive producer of the hugely successful podcast and brand Call Her Daddy, which amasses millions of listeners per episode and frequently tops Podcast charts. In 2018, Alex began to blaze a path through the podcasting medium that had never before existed: a space where women were encouraged, empowered, and emboldened to share their unapologetic stories and truths. Now one of the most listened to female podcasters in the world, Alex continues to break all boundaries by shattering stigmas and stomping on misogyny, all while keeping mental health and personal empowerment at the forefront. Her thought-provoking conversations are meticulously designed to explore wide-ranging topics such as life experiences, culture, health, relationships, and more, all through her lens of comedy and extreme candor. To the millions of devoted gen-z and millennial listeners (?The Daddy Gang?) the Call Her Daddy brand represents a new set of values and standards, with many quotes and phrases permeating pop-culture vernacular. In addition, the Boston-bred entrepreneur has a successful merchandise line, as well as several exciting business endeavors in the pipeline.

Alex bravely shares how she suffered through constant bullying in her younger years and the trauma she still carries because of it, the pain of feeling uncomfortable with your body, and how creating content has helped her find calmness, peace, and purpose. We talk about how gender equality remains a delicate subject, how women can help other women through various programs and campaigns, and how self respect is one of the things we owe to ourselves.  We also discuss how social media can heavily influence our thoughts and actions, how to set boundaries with it and for yourself, and why finding the right partner plays a big role in our success.

Throughout the conversation, we learn that despite the many challenges we?ve faced and will face in the future, there?s no other way but to keep moving forward. Having the will to do so will help mold us to become a better version of ourselves.

What We Discuss:

Additionally, I list down four ways we can pivot from being an overthinker to becoming an action-doer, a rational thinker who wouldn?t shy away from making mistakes and failing, and has the initiative to take risks and seize opportunities.

Noah Cyrus ON: How to Handle Negative Opinions of Others & Turning Anxiety into Creativity

Today I sit down with the very amazing Noah Cyrus. Noah is a Grammy award-nominee, multi platinum, Nashville-born and Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter. Emerging in 2016 at the age of 16, she immediately captivated audiences with platinum singles "Make Me (Cry)" and Again. Noah teamed up with PJ Harding for the People Don't Change EP in 2021. Along the way, she performed at Coachella twice, while Billboard named her among its "21 Under 21" for three straight years. She also shined on The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ellen, and The Today Show. Now, she introduces the next chapter with the "I Burned LA Down".

Noah shares to us a vulnerable side of her and how music has helped her heal from her past. Growing up she mentioned that self-love and self-acceptance was something that she never really practiced and is still a difficult thing to do at the present but she is a work in progress and even though life is full of ups and downs, she is moving forward. We also exchanged our thoughts on why change is inevitable for people and how we can be comfortable with it. Noah herself experienced a life changing experience and I am so honored to hear her story.

Matt Damon & Gary White ON: Seeing Problems and Taking Action & How to Help Others in Crisis

Do you want to meditate daily with me? Go to go.calm.com/onpurpose to get 40% off a Calm Premium Membership. Experience the Daily Jay. Only on Calm

Jay Shetty sits down with Water.Org co-founders Matt Damon and Gary White to talk about the water crisis around the world. We see stories of extreme poverty in places that are less developed and have little to no access to basic services such as electricity and water. These stories of struggles are out there but we don?t get to hear the rawness of the situation and reality many people live in. The water crisis is real and it?s one of the major hindrances for children to have proper education and a chance at a better future.

While everyone knows Matt Damon as an actor and producer and screenwriter, in 2006, he founded H20 Africa Foundation to raise awareness about water initiatives on the continent. Matt's active participation in the work of Water.Org and Walter Equity has positioned him as one of the world's experts on water and sanitation issues. Now in 1991, Gary White launched Water Partners, now the international NGO known as Water.Org. Today, he leads two organizations in creating and executing market-driven solutions to the global water crisis driving innovations in the way water and sanitation projects are delivered and financed.
