This movie, based on the 'Modesty Blaise' comics by Peter O'Donnell, was written and directed by Joseph Losey to be 'A pop-art inspired spoof, with over-the-top set design, """Avante-garde editing""", and deliberate continuity problems'. It was nominated for a Palme d'Or at Cannes. He made a bad movie on purpose, as a joke. We have differing opinions on if he managed.

Look, I know what you're thinking, this is just another bad eurospy movie- but this movie was made by Claude Chabrol, one of the directors of the French New Wave, during his middle period. He may have made this movie entirely to keep the lights on, but he clearly used the opportunity to try some things out.
