Phrases in this episode:

I have been thinking about everything I?m grateful for. When I want to complain, I think about the suffering of others. Then I remember that my life is actually very good. I have a lot to be thankful for. My family loves me, and I have many friends. I know that when I?m feeling sad, I can reach out to a friend. My friends always help me to put things into perspective. Sometimes it helps to look at things from a different point of view. Then we can see all the good there is in the world. People are always trying to help each other. Everyone is just doing their best. When I think about my loved ones, I feel a sense of connection. I'm connected to everyone in the whole world. No matter where we live, we are all the same. I?m grateful for the diversity of culture and language. But laughter sounds the same in every language. That?s how we know that we are all one human family. We might be different on the outside, but inside we are all the same. I love being here on planet earth and don't want to leave just yet. What are you grateful for today?

Phrases in this episode:

Earth is a wonderful planet. I feel so lucky to get a human life on this planet. For you to be born here on Earth required a series of one in a million chances. There never has been, and never will be, another human with your DNA on Earth. You and Earth have a unique relationship. In addition to beauty, Earth is a tremendously resilient complex system. Earth finds balance. Every life form here has found a niche that works, that lives. It's nice to think that, no matter what humans do, we can't destroy Earth. We could certainly ruin Earth for humans. But life will go on here. How amazing it would be if Earth were the only planet with life in the entire universe. And also how amazing if there were other planets out there, supporting life. A planet of different biomes, different species, also in balance, out there among the stars. As interesting as that planet would be to us, Earth is, too. Earth is such an interesting place to visit! I love our planet!

Okay, ready to check out. I?m scared to hear the grand total! I?m happy I found everything I need in one store. Now I just have to figure out what to do with my hair!

Phrases in this episode:

When I was a kid, I was very adventurous. My friends and I used to skip school and go to the video arcade. The sense of freedom I had when I got my drivers license was unmatched. Riding the bus to school was the worst. When I was in school, the teachers would hit us with rulers. My parents were emphatic in their religious beliefs. My family used to have an annual reunion. We used to go fishing at the river most Sundays. For my birthday, all my extended family members would come over. I?m still recovering from my childhood. When I was in college I loved going to rock concerts. My taste in music has changed so much over the years. I have traveled to 15 different countries. I still remember the first time I saw the ocean. There are some freedoms I miss about childhood. Mostly I just love being an adult!

Phrases in this episode:

The world is changing faster than ever. Now is a good time to rethink assumptions about the inability to change the world. Before criticizing the world, I make my own bed. The world needs enthusiasm. Anybody that loves anything is cool. Optimists tend to be successful and pessimists tend to be right. As people experience fewer problems, we don't become more satisfied, we begin searching for new problems. I have many flaws, like anybody, except perhaps a few more. I love doing difficult things with other people who want to do difficult things. In life we must choose our regrets. You can have anything but you can't have everything. People who focus on what they want rarely get what they want. People who focus on what they have to offer get what they want. If you make beautiful choices, you are beautiful. You don't truly know what you think until you write it down. Only that which is measured can be optimized. When a measure becomes an outcome it ceases to be a good measure. If you don't know where you're going, it doesn't matter which path you take. Consistency doesn't guarantee you will be successful. But inconsistency will guarantee that you won't be successful. Sometimes the demand for answers outstrips the supply. Sometimes things happen without anyone involved wanting it to. A friend invites you to a wedding, despite not wanting you there, because he thinks you want to attend. You attend the wedding, despite not wanting to, because you think he wants you there. One sentence that everyone should believe about themselves. I'm enough. I love aging and dying.

Phrases in this episode:

Tell me about yourself. I regard life as my toy store. Better to ask permission than forgiveness. Only by error do we learn. And by observation. Error and observation. Observe more! Now I can only ask for forgiveness. How we feel about something is often determined by the story we tell ourselves about it. The story people tell us about themselves tells us little about who they are, and much about who they want us to believe they are. The ability to delay gratification is a predictor of success in life. I leave the last bite of something tasty to make future-me love current-me. Delayed gratification at the extreme is no gratification. If you can't be happy with a coffee, then you can't be happy with a yacht. The first rule of winning the game is to stop moving the goalposts Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler. I would rather have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned. My mind is made up of an elephant and a rider. Only by doing things the elephant dislikes will I know if the rider is in control. I end every hot shower with 1 minute of cold water. The elephant never wants to do it, the rider always does. Discipline is the act of proving to yourself that you can trust yourself. Discipline is freedom. Discipline must be practiced, in small and big ways. Self esteem is a mountain made of layers of paint. Not everything has to be so serious. When you bring the fun, the world appreciates it. Have you ever thought about how scary the ocean would be if fish could scream?

Phrases in this episode:

When symbolism drowns the plot. Archetypes gone rogue. Dialogues from a philosophy undergrad?s diary. It?s a narrative Möbius strip; endlessly confusing. What dimension did this plot come from? Flashbacks? I can barely follow the present! A kaleidoscope of tropes and clichés. So many bullets, so little logic. Ah, explosions as character development! Why are they whispering? They just blew up a building! Where's this guy finding all these helicopters? They punched logic right in the face! So we're ignoring physics now? So we're friends with aliens now? So we're just ending it there?

Phrases in this episode:

Is this going to electrocute me? Is there a place I can plug this in? Could you plug this in? Could you unplug this? Do you have an adapter for this kind of plug? This outlet is full. Before plugging in a device, make sure it can handle the outlet's voltage. Do you have an adapter that would work for this? What voltage are the outlets in Sweden? When unplugging an electrical cord, pull it by the terminal, not the cord! Electrical arcs are very hot and can cause damage to a plug. Avoid electrical arcs by turning appliances off before plugging them in or unplugging them. Volts times amps equals watts. Electricity is a form of energy resulting from the movement of electrons. Electrons are negatively charged particles found within atoms, which make up matter. Electric currents are the flow of electrons through a conductor, like a wire. Electrical conductors, such as metals, allow electricity to flow easily. Electrical insulators, such as plastics, resist the flow of currents. Electric circuits are paths that allow electricity to move from a power source to a device and back. Lightning is a natural example of electricity, caused by the discharge of built-up electrical energy in the atmosphere. Electricity is a natural phenomenon that we have harnessed to make life better.
