Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Jonny Svarzbein for an episode that reunites Ben with his former coworkers, reuses montage footage from the last time Ben waxed nostalgic about "the good ol' days", and one in which we speculate that "Jackie's Special" is a seared-ahi tuna melt with American cheddar. A kid almost drowns, and Mitch blames himself. That's basically it!
May Darmon returns for this episode that is light on dialogue and heavy on action/long drawn-out sequences that fill time. One highlight: this episode introduces "Dark Mitch", a black speedo-clad brooding version of Mitch that is just BEGGING for a spinoff. Baywatch didn't know what it had!
Baywatch gets real lazy with the two-part format by combining two almost entirely-disconnected episodes into one. Part 1: Jimmy Slade and Matt Brody continue to fight over Summer's heart, which accelerates her eating disorder. Mitch gets kidnapped by convicts. Part 2: Stephanie's sister comes to town with her new beau, who is immediately targeted with an assassination attempt. Hobie wins A&W cream soda.

Join Zach, Charlie, and special guests Allyson Phillips and Ryan Coil (co-hosts of the new podcast Stone Cold Paradise) for a wild episode that includes trap door coolers, horse poop, and an eating disorder that comes truly out of nowhere, then is quickly dropped and forgotten in favor of a classic Baywatch wrap-up. The early 90s: where anything goes!

Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Winston Carter for the first episode in a while where, when Hobie's B-plot is revealed, all of us had the same, separate reaction: "That can't be what this is". Things are getting loopy on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Hobie's in love. Mitch is in love. Jackie is in love. Matt is in love. Summer is in love. Stephanie is in...England?!
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Liz Reichelt for an episode that shows why it's so dang hard for lifeguards to fall in love...people keep drowning! Also poor, sweet Jimmy Slade finds himself on the outside of a relationship looking in, and he's not even there to see it. Another entry, submitted for your approval, in the long saga that is Baywatch Watch!
New Season, New Episode! After last week's exhausting viewing of the 2017 Baywatch movie, we're so thankful to be back in the 90s with the crew we know and love. Also, there's a plane crash! It's good to be back on the West Coast as we launch into Season 4 of Baywatch Watch!
A little something different this week! Returning guest Alex Franklin joins us to talk the 2017 Baywatch movie. We compare it to the show, talk about how it handles the characters we've come to know and love, and whether or not the essence of Baywatch survives the transition from drama to comedy. We didn't love it!
As a reminder, we'll be taking the next week off, then returning the following week to launch into Season 4, so enjoy this slight diversion into the extended Bay-verse and we'll see you soon!
Season 3 is in the bag! A mysterious "bloke" from Mitch's past is out for revenge. Mitch tries to rekindle romance with failed journalist Kay Morgan. Summer has about 8 seconds of screen time.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Alan Santiago as we discuss the long con at play here, a truly spectacular exploding car, and Hobie's desire to call Kay Morgan mom, all on this week's episode of Baywatch!
Note: Next week we'll be covering the 2017 Baywatch film, then we'll take a one week break before returning refreshed to launch into Season 4!
Is there anything Mitch can't do? Hot off his miracle recovery from paralysis, Mitch coaches Matt Brody in a kickboxing tournament, and finds himself menaced by the ghost of Navy Seals past. CJ starts a romance with the creepiest French photographer who's ever lived and contemplates leaving Baywatch forever.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Scott Thiede as we award the first triple-6'er of Season 3! It's got kickboxing, it's got a French guy, and it has a late episode kitchen brawl that's worth the price of admission alone, all on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Mitch suffers a life-changing injury that almost certainly will never be mentioned again. An assassin hunts a child. Stephanie does chores. Hobie uses Pepsi as a motivational tool.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Jessica Svendsgaard for yet another two parter that plays fast and loose with episode structure. We'll talk the mini clip show, the lack of security at the rehab facility, and Mitch's seemingly years-long recovery from temporary paralysis all on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Mitch falls in love, again. Criminals return to the scene of the crime multiple times. Hobie's hidden talent. Guido's Mama comes to town. Summer and CJ endanger a child.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Andrew Young (check out Zach and Andrew's new podcast, "Stone Cold Paradise", out soon!) as they dive into an episode that shows us Mitch's idealized family fantasy, what Hobie's been up to at school, and makes us (apparently, if Wikipedia is to be believed) say goodbye to Guido, all on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
A killer "who makes Hannibal Lecter look like Little Bo Peep" takes Stephanie and Summer hostage in a lifeguard tower. Mitch uses Hobie's science project to make a subterranean rescue. Jimmy Slade botches the job and gets shot in the process.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest (and ardent Baywatch defender) Will Hines as we break down this wild episode and Will schools the boys on perfect television on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
The crew performs a group rescue, and is rewarded with a cruise. A drug kingpin wears prosthetics. CJ bets it all, wins, loses, then wins it all back, that classic story. Summer's romance is cut. Stephanie reflects on one specific memory.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Taylor Cox (writer for "Miracle Workers", co-host of the "Hills I Die On" podcast) as we discuss maybe the best two-parter to date in Baywatch history? It's got magically cured gambling addictions, a very schedule-dependent police custody evasion, and a near-death experience that conjures memories of an early 1900's photoshoot on a golf course, all on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Mitch has to go to San Diego again. A group watches for aliens on the beach. Jimmy Slade finds himself an unwitting diamond mule. Summer and Jimmy's romance blooms.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Franky Guttman (check out This is Dark Matters on Twitch!) as we talk the blissful purity of Kelly Slater's performance, try to figure out why the diamond smuggling operation didn't go a million different other ways, and discuss the wonder that is Summer's fantasy montage, all on this week's Baywatch Watch!
Mitch hires a housekeeper. CJ and Stephanie go to Catalina and encounter an exploding boat and a jewel thief. We have serious concerns about CJ's ability to regulate her own oxygen intake.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Karen Baughn (watch "American Christmas" on Showtime!) as we talk Mitch and Hobie's culinary appetites, postulate how the jewel heist worked, and Charlie learns that Holland is not in Scandinavia, all on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Summer deals with glowstick-induced panic attacks while Mitch decides whether or not to become an architect to carry on his father's legacy in an episode that deals with some pretty heavy subjects (with all the grace and nuance we've come to expect from Baywatch).
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Joe Uhlarik (Emphatic Pictures) as we talk the introduction (and exit) of Mitch's parents, the mid-Season 3 drop that Mitch went to architecture school, and everyone's excitement at Mitch's design for an underwater city on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
CJ's nightmares come true when an assassination attempt on the Governor's life during a KISS FM sponsored Surfrider Foundation concert finds her unconscious and headed full speed towards the pier on a remote control boat packed with explosives. Worse yet, it's a 100 degree day and riptides are causing everyone to simultaneously start drowning! It's less exciting than it sounds, but at least you get to see a full performance from the fictional band Tag!
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Andy Bustillos (@andybustillos) as we talk low res insert shots, the disservice the insanely long montages do to any semblance of a cohesive plot, and yes, we talk Tag on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Shukri R. Abdi (@shukrisayshi on the socials) returns for a weird episode that sees Garner and Mitch going "undercover" (with no secret identities) in a two on two basketball tournament to solve a murder. Dennis and Arlene (two people we've never met before) are on their honeymoon, but Dennis has eyes for CJ.
Join Zach, Charlie, and Shukri as we discuss an episode that loosely references "White Men Can't Jump", full on copies "The Heartbreak Kid", and sets the stage for the Southern California-famous Sit 'n Sleep mattress commercials while providing inspiration for one scene in "She's All That" (that's our story and we're sticking to it). Plus, Pamela Anderson breaks out as the bombshell she's remembered as in a montage that is probably the reason so many of our parents wouldn't let us watch this show. Lot going on here!
Mitch and Stephanie go undercover to catch J Peterman, a criminally-underused Danny Trejo, and some other goons in a yacht-robbing heist operation and lose themselves in the process. Garner gets seasick. CJ wants to go fast...sometimes.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Heather Woodward (co-creator of the improvised web series "Murder Story") as we talk Stephanie's diving, the identification of a dead body on sight as being the wife of one of your college professors, and the baffling jazz club montage overlayed with music that is decidedly NOT jazz. Just another day in paradise on Baywatch Watch!
We did it. We found the saddest scene in Baywatch history. Mitch falls for royalty, and he's the only one who doesn't know it. Ben hitches everything on a boat race. Hobie plays Mitch's wingman again, and then he fights Godzilla.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Ivan Ngo as we talk the David Lynch connections, the logistics of anchoring a boat off shore and never leaving it, and we get an update on Twin Geek (we didn't ask for an update, but weren't given much of a choice) on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Matt Brody gets involved with a mysterious woman who loves racing motorcycles. Stephanie plays a confusing episode long prank on Mitch. CJ helps Guido out of a jam.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Conner McCabe (host of the "Call Me By Your Game" podcast) as we talk our disappointment that the motorcycle race plotline peters out about halfway through the episode, the show's continued under-utilization of Pamela Anderson (who yet again is relegated to a throwaway C-plot), and David Hasselhoff fully trailblazing the dad bod in this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
An episode with a whopping SEVEN plots: 1) Malibu Beach High plans to sell off sacred Chumash land 2) Mitch and Garner are in pursuit of two illegal dune buggy drivers (Brody and Slade), 3) Garner doesn't want to work the beach anymore, 4) Summer can't figure out what Jimmy Slade's deal is, 5) Courtney Bremmer (Elizabeth Berkley) promises Slade surfing sponsorships, 6) Slade's dad threatens to break him in half, and 7) Chandler brings drugs to Brody's beach rager.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guests Rachel Chapman (You've Got Hanks, I Need to Talk TikTok, Inside the Disney Vault, and This is the Mix podcasts) and Miranda Rae Hart (@miranduhhearthartsyou) as Miranda drops some controversial Kelly Slater AND David Hasselhoff opinions and Rachel shares insight gleaned from TikTok (and we dub Baywatch the TikTok of the early 90s) on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Hobie wants to impress a girl and ends up in the middle of a street rivalry that puts West Side Story to shame. Summer thinks she's going on a date with Jimmy Slade and ends up in the crosshairs of the mean girls of Malibu High. Mitch desperately tries to parent. Garner desperately tries to police. Tensions run high.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Annabel Seymour as we talk Mitch's good parenting, the Summer/Summer's mom height differential, and yet again try to make sense of Kelly Slater's acting on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Baywatch is back with another Rookie School episode! Mitch rescues a bag. CJ and Stephanie accidentally live together. Matt needs to prove something to his dad. Summer needs to prove something to himself. CJ listens to a book on tape. Guido returns.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Daryl Johnson (@theREELdarylj) for an episode filled with high jumps, triple lindy dives, and one that finally answers the question: what IS Baywatch?
Season 3 trucks along with an episode that introduces two new main characters and brings back one to whom we thought we'd said goodbye. Mitch is wounded (metaphorically). Jimmy faces surf punks. Summer learns to surf. Stephanie tries to make amends. Ben returns.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest actress, improviser, and social media influencer Simone Michelle Mariposa (@simonemariposa, simonemariposa.com) as we talk Kelly Slater's acting, Stephanie's big secret, and learn to sympathize with tequila-themed surf punks on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Season 3 has arrived! New cast members arrive, old cast members depart, and Baywatch enters its most famous era - the Pamela Anderson years. Mitch's uncle dies, so the crew goes white water rafting in search of lost gold. Eddie's leaving for Australia for a year, and Shauni's got feelings about it, and perhaps a surprise? New cast members Brody and Summer prepare for lifeguard tryouts, while Summer's mom's past follows them cross country.
Join Zach, Charlie, and our two special guests Ann Maddox and May Darmon for this super-sized two part season premiere that has it all: an old prospector, crossbow wielding criminals, lingering jellyfish, a trailer dangling from a cliff, and, of course, new cast member Pamela Anderson playing the sax. All on this week's Baywatch Watch!
We did it! Season 2 is in the books, and what a weird episode to go out on. No Mitch, only one montage - what the heck? Eddie journeys down memory lane and helps solve a murder in the process. Harvey meets with misfortune due to a very unlucky number. Garner is uninvested in police work.
Join Zach, Charlie, and return guest Cory Willis (@burncoryburn on socials, illuminatiimprov.com) as we learn the connections between this and a Golden Globe, Academy Award, and BAFTA Award winning film with a very similar name and plot, we try to work out the logic of how Eddie could be of any use in this situation, and we provide an UPDATE on the missing footage from Season 2, Episode 12 "Reunion". It's all on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Harvey plays poker. Mitch loses a watch. A car is a boat! Eddie and Shauni want to move in together, but Shauni's dad, and the devilish Brown Goodman stand in the way. A pool filter goes rogue!
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Madison Lanesey as we talk horse acrobatics, engagement pool parties, urban legends, and more on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Transicon hatches a plan. Brenda faceplants. Hobie gets sick! A priest assassins. Shauni switchboards. Ben loans waverunners. Mitch investigates Transicon. TRANSICON!!!
Join Zach, Charlie, and Aaron "El Hefe" Abeyta (actor, comedian, musician) as we talk misplaced nostalgia for the "days when you didn't have to worry about the environment", the amazing priest assassin scene that felt like it was straight out of a "Naked Gun" movie, and the weird infantilization of Hobie, all on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Shauni has an admirer. Harvey teaches windsurfing. Mitch goes out of town again. Eddie gets a little jealous. The towers are on the move. Also there's a murder!
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Dennis Curlett as we talk WaWa, time filling montages (3 this episode!), and more on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
It's another Baywatch shark attack episode...or is it???? Shauni hangs with teenagers. Eddie has a brother. Mitch HAS to get to San Diego. Harvey borrows a car. Thorpe directs!
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Nadia Osman (cohost of the podcast "Why Do You Know That?") as we talk proper swim technique, jet ski logistics, the subtle differences between Orange and Riverside counties, and we write our own Olympic fan-fiction on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Baywatch does a mid-Season 2 clip show with almost exclusively clips from Season 1?? Mitch hangs on for dear life. Hobie weighs a decision. Jill returns(ish?) to claim her Jillsy. Not much else happens!
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Joan Ford (on insta, twitter, and twitch at @joanhaleyford) as we discuss the hit shows that lived in syndication during the 90s (shoutout to all you Relic Hunter fans!), Zach walks us through how "the bends" actually work, and we discuss the weirdness of the decision to do a clip show mid season while praising the world's most combative doctor. It's all on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Baywatch crosses over and becomes Gilligan's Island in this home run swing of an episode. Eddie hits his head and comes face to face with Gilligan (Bob Denver) and Mary Ann (Dawn Wells). Thorpe wins the lotto and takes the crew out on a three hour tour. Garner skippers the boat. Harvey is a man of science, and Shauni is a movie star. What could go wrong?
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Eric Pastore as we discuss how well this crossover works (very well), the amazing work the cast puts in as they emulate classic television, and Eric discovers Baywatch AND Gilligan's Island for the very first time. All on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!!
Hobie has a premonition. A fire eater is on drugs. Mitch wants wave runners. Ben gets drunk and falls in love. Connors bumbles through another case. Shauni works the radio.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Tyler Schnupp (listen to his Reactivaders podcast!) as we discuss the musical stylings of the episode, the fire eaters' mask choice, a boat called an Addictor that seems to be all the rage among criminals, and Ben's unbelievable wholesome horniness in this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
It's been 30 years since Big Monday, but only Mitch seems to remember it. Kaye inserts herself in another family's business. Mitch finds Sonny Paoloa's necklace. Shauni watches surf videos with Hobie, while Hobie worries about sketchin' on another wave. Lili's Mom hates sign language.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Amber Kenny ("The Long Shot" podcast) as we break down a rogue wave that seems to be targeting one person, a souvenir store necklace that causes nightmares, Kaye's first solo plot, and a baffling trip to Universal Studios on this week's episode of Baywatch Watch!
Hot off the heels of "If Looks Could Kill", Baywatch is back with another triple-six-Hoffs episode! Mitch is being tormented, Cape Fear style. Ben reminisces on an undetermined decade. Kaye serves apples and cheese for dessert. Garner drops the ball. Mason Sato (Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa) establishes himself as a legendary Baywatch villain.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Ann Maddox (@mikiannmaddox, @miothecatmeowmeow) as we break down the episode's baffling surf montage, obsess over Mason Sato's chokers, speculate that an extra at the bar was looking for a third, and Zach points out some odd discrepancies between the backgrounds in a couple of shots as we dive in to yet another episode of Baywatch Watch!
From host Claudio Saavedra:
We are almost finished with the pilot! The first reviews of the pod are in and we discuss them (thank you, Peakers). I address the on-air burp and we talk about Twin Peaks.
It's a Baywatch Watch reunion as Heather Higginbotham returns to discuss an episode that couldn't be more perfectly named! A bull terrorizes the beach. Eddie finds a baby. Mitch worries his divorce will sully his high school reunion, even though his ex-wife is his date. Ben gives terrible advice. Mitch and Gayle hook up on the beach. A bully gets his due...or does he?
Join Zach, Charlie, and Heather "John D. Cort" Higginbotham as we dive back in to discuss the ethics and logistics of temporary child abandonment, try to figure out just how many times Mitch and Gayle "did what got Hobie started" on the beach, and help Heather cope with the loss of Season 1 Hobie as we spend yet another eventful week with the LA County Lifeguards!
Episode description written by Claudio:
"Please help the Baywatch Watch family of podcasts in welcoming our newest and realest podcast, "Twin Geek" (not Twin Geeks). Each week your host, Claudio Saavedra (not a twin nor a geek), along with his talented and entertaining guests, will break-down all of the Twin Peek (sic) episodes in order. This is real. This is an actual thing that you can look forward to listening to weekly. Dale Cooper."
It's a redemption of sorts for Baywatch as we careen from our worst reviewed episode to our best! Mitch falls in lust. Eddie has suspicions. Louis Vuitton bags show off their waterproofing. Baywatch tries its hand at an honest-to-goodness sex scene and pulls out all the stops - and candles!
Join us and our special guest writer, comedian, and actor Shukri R. Abdi (@shukrisayshi) as we celebrate Shannon Tweed, provide a pertinent time code, and explore what happens when Mitch finally throws caution to the wind in this triple-six Hoffs of an ep!
We’ve got a supersized holiday weekend episode for you! Baywatch continues its streak of tackling social issues...poorly. Eddie is in legal trouble. Mitch has regrets. Megan and Turner wonder what could have been. Ben gives terrible advice.
Spoiler alert: we hated these episodes! But we still had a blast talking about them with our special guest, Erin Smith (@erinkellysmith). We talked goofs, trivia, the problematic messaging, and end by awarding our lowest score in Baywatch Watch history. What a mess!
Mitch finds a dog in the ocean. Eddie and Shauni take a break, so Eddie goes on a date. A boatbilly (boat hillbilly) goes missing. Shauni makes a poor comparison. Garner gets into a gunfight! Mitch goes on a date with a Real Housewife, and Baywatch handles yet another problematic topic with surprising restraint.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest and Earwolf Producer Matt Apodaca as we talk about the greatest animal actor of all time, Mitch's surprising turn into hornytown, and characters introduced as though they've always been there who we'll likely never see again. Just another day in paradise on this week's Baywatch Watch!
Baywatch tackles yet another social issue with predictably problematic results. Venice experiences a growing homelessness crisis. Hector the Collector steals people's personal items. Hobie has a crush on Nikki Cox. Kaye stacks the deck at The Venice Voice. Harvey's gambling problem leads to an awkward encounter with a Domino's employee. Mitch jumps off a bridge!
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Claudio Saavedra (self-proclaimed car and now poetry expert) as we discuss the episode's stunts, Harvey's pool party, and, of course, the GMC Jimmy in another episode of Baywatch Watch!
Baywatch is back with a "very special", very problematic episode. Eddie tries to save a gangmember via...the water? Shauni wants someone to go to the ballet with her. Guest star Danny Trejo uses the word "butts" in a threat. JD Cort returns from adventures abroad. Eddie reflects on some guy he met at a pool in Philly. Mitch checks in early, then departs.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Oscar Montoya (co-host of Spanish Aquí presents on Sirius) as we talk speedos, early 90s Los Angeles gang panic, and develop a new appreciation for the Amazon Prime replacement music on an all new episode of Baywatch Watch!
Mitch has a brother! Hobie has a cousin! The crew pops chills, greases on noodles, and learns how not to be a barney while Shauni and Eddie investigate the case of the disintegrating bikinis and Kaye breaks ground on the Venice Voice.
Join us as we shoot the pier with special guest Alex Franklin (host of the podcast "Trust the Bachelor Process" and writer on the upcoming reboot of Showtime's Dexter) as we talk blood gas, milk vs. coke, and 1991 laptop specs, and whether or not Mitch ever flirts. Grab a chill, sit back, and enjoy the ride.
Everyone's got money troubles. Mitch needs to fix his truck. Shauni needs to save a tiny shack that somehow holds thousands of sea animals. Harvey shown his managerial chops. Thorpe keeps his eyes on the down-below prize. A crazy man rampages. Baywatch goes Hollywood and Shauni orchestrates the most lucrative bikini contest in human history.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest May Darmon as we dive in to find out if our heroes find their way out of their respective pickles, thereby creating a perfect loop that ensures no character has any forward momentum? All this and more on this week's Baywatch Watch!
Terror strikes as a psychopathic predator who speaks only in fisherman's lingo attacks one of Baywatch's own. A massive brawl breaks out on the beach. Harvey pervs out and delivers something called "The Stu Report" and pursues international flight attendants. Eddie gets a boat(?). Baywatch gets slightly progressive??? Join Zach, Charlie, and special guests Clark Canez and Jen Curcio, hosts of the spooky podcast "A Touch From the Past" as they dive in to Season 2, Episode 3, "The One That Got Away"!
Baywatch lives! After being tragically canceled at the end of Season 1, the lifeguards are back with some old friends, new faces, and far too many plot threads to keep straight in this supersized two part season premiere. Something deadly lurks beneath Santa Monica Bay. Mitch contemplates a promotion. Harvey covers himself in syrup. Shauni has dad problems. Baywatch might get a new boat. Ben works the switchboard! Thorpe is there too.
Join Zach, Charlie, and special guest Meg Joh (host of the podcast "Forever, Babe") as we go lobster fishing and plot dissecting in our very first ever quarantine episode! Follow @Baywatchwatch on IG and Twitter for more!
In the second to last episode of the season, Cort’s womanizing ways land him an invite on a sexy lady’s boat, and while they’re out at sea he just so happens to catch a glimpse of an “old friend” on another boat passing by. What a seemingly inconsequential coincidence except for the fact that he thought his old friend died years ago! This inspires Cort to get in touch with Kate, the maybe dead guy’s widow. THE TWIST?! Their relationship is platonic, which sends Cort cascading down a series of bad acting moments. Meanwhile our pals Mitch, Garner, and Craig decide to go hang gliding. THE TWIST?! Despite being well trained lifeguards they make astoundingly irresponsible decisions that send Mitch crashing and eventually getting bit by a rattlesnake. As if Mitch almost dying isn’t enough of a spoiler also in this episode; Eddie orders pizza and a sweet Muffy gets wet. Thankfully we have comedian and our own old friend, Cory Willis, joining us to help navigate all the DRAMA. Follow @burncoryburn and @Baywatchwatch on IG and Twitter!
Set design really shakes things up this season finale when a giant earthquake destroys Baywatch headquarters (and all of LA). Ceilings cave in and pipes burst with steam; it’s groundbreaking stuff! The earthquake leaves all our favorite characters rattled. Gina falls off a roof. Craig, Cort, and their lackluster acting are stuck in an underwater cave. Hobie tries to give Rocky a bath! And if that’s not scary enough, Shauni tells Eddie, “the ground isn’t the only thing shaky around here!” Will a manic pixie pregnant woman be introduced as a plot device to help Eddie come to his senses in time to save his relationship? Will David Hasselhoff’s committed performance pleasantly surprise audiences yet again? Will all our characters be reunited once more by the end of the episode?! Luckily us hosts are able to use our own earthquake expertise to help everyone appreciate the magnitude of this episode! Follow @Baywatchwatch on IG & twitter!
A VERY SPECIAL EPISODE OF BAYWATCH WATCH! We got an actual script from this episode (The Big Race) and we did a table read with our guests Anna Salinas and Edgar Momplaisir! Does the script vary much from the episode that aired? Wildly so in many ways. You get the feeling that the director looked at the script and often said "Yeah, we're not gonna shoot that. We'll do this instead." Each of us read the part of 4 different characters in this script that features a high-stakes water ski race, Cort pretending to be rich for a good cause, and Shauni struggling to get over the death of Jill. Spoiler alert: Jill died last episode! We also get into a variety of topics including TV writing, lakes, the impending Streaming Wars, and of course Baywatch. You can follow Anna Salinas @badcomixbyanna on instagram/twitter, and Edgar Momplaisir @awfulgram on instagram and @edgarmomplaisir on twitter!
Sharks!!! There's sharks everywhere in Baywatch thanks to Bucky Allen's Ocean Grill Shark Derby. What do all of those words mean? Well, Bucky Allen is a sleazy guy that owns a restaurant by the ocean, and he's decided that the best way to drum up business for his Ocean Grill is to sponsor a Shark Derby, where fishers compete to catch the biggest shark and win a $25,000 prize. Eddie, Cort, Hobie, and Captain Thorpe are all doing their best to catch the largest shark, but Mitch wants nothing to do with the competition because he knows Bucky is human trash. Things take a turn for the worst when Jill makes a rescue in the ocean and is viciously attacked by one of the sharks "competing" in the shark derby. This puts her in the hospital and now Mitch is determined to get revenge on Bucky. But don't worry, everything will turn out alright by the episode's end, right? Right?! Ummmmm....
Eddie has become infatuated with a troubled ghost that is running around the shores and cliffs of Baywatch in a long, white gown, with a lavendar ribbon in her hair. She's obviously from another time period because a modern ghost from 1990 would probably be wearing something neon with lots of accessories and maybe some sunglasses too. Eddie's determined to help her out but everyone else thinks that she's a figment of his imagination brought on by stress from the death of his lifeguard partner, Kirby. He even breaks up with Shauni to spend more time chasing after the ghost. Hey, we've all been there before. Elsewhere, Hobie is helping out his friend Katie, who needs to find a new home for her dog, Rocky, or else he'll sent by her parents to the pound. This leads to an entertaining montage where the dog playing Rocky shows off his acting chops. Jill take note! There's also a C story involving Cort and an old timey diving suit that is so boring that they wrap it up halfway through the episode. A big twist in this episode comes when we find out that Eddie is in fact a ghost himself. Just kidding, that's the surprise ending of The Sixth Sense!
Cort takes Eddie and Shauni out to an illegal casino boat for a fun day of betting in tuxes, but unfortunately this leads to Eddie developing a gambling addiction and losing all of his money. It's ok though because he decides to borrow money from the casino so he can gamble some more. Wait, that's a terrible idea! Now Mr. Danvier, the owner of the casino boat, is intent on getting Eddie to pay back his debt immediately or else something terrible is going to happen to him. Meanwhile, Mitch is in a relationship with Ms. Keller from last week's episode and they are madly in love with each other and ready to have a Baywatch montage together. But Hobie's intent on breaking them up after Ms. Keller doesn't give him good grades in her class. Not to worry though because Cort's about to pick up a pair of dice on the casino boat and roll the 1998 film starring Nicolas Cage... Snake Eyes!
Cort gets punished for a not-that-dangerous parasailing incident by being assigned to train new lifeguards at Raging Waters water park. He brings along Eddie to help and together they put lifeguard hopefuls through training that mostly consists of riding the fun water slides at the park. But it's not all fun and games because someone at the park is causing damage by smashing meters and loosening bolts on slides. The episode gives us two prime suspects: Tad, a wannabe lifeguard that doesn't make the cut and is also extremely jealous of Eddie, and Joe Maddon, a middle-aged man that comes to the park every day without going in the water and instead says strange things to Eddie and the others. Back at Baywatch headquarters, Shauni is suspended by Thorpe for appearing in the new Sports Week calendar in her Baywatch bathing suit, but she's positive she never gave anyone permission to use her photo. Don't worry lifeguard/lawyer Craig is on the case and ready to help her out. We also have Mitch getting disappointed by Hobie's school teacher Ms. Keller who recently canceled the school field trip to Baywatch. He's sure it's because everyone believes in a non-existent stereotype that lifeguards just sit around all day looking at girls and getting tan. If all this wasn't enough there's also an unbelievable chase throughout the water park that includes one of the most dangerous stunts ever on a very steep water slide. Plus, there's a final scene involving Mitch and Ms. Keller at a beachside restaurant that is very odd and completely unnecessary. This is a GREAT episode of Baywatch and we highly recommend you watch it!
Craig needs a vacation after his shoe is thrown by Cort at a WWII era naval mine that a fisherman reeled in causing it to explode. So he decides to take Eddie & Cort on a little surfing adventure down in Mexico. But trouble arises when his jeep is stolen by criminals led by an evil American named Regler, who oppressively rules the local town of Mira Flores. And this isn't just any town because Cort used to date Ines, the owner of the saloon, but he left without saying goodbye one day so now she's ready to cut his throat with a broken beer bottle. There's also an inappropriate storyline where Hobie is trying to become Shauni's new boyfriend while Eddie is down in Mexico. It's just gross. And Captain Thorpe is told by his wife to move out of the house because she's tired of being married to him and wants a divorce. But Thorpe seems ok with it because he's decided to go "trolling for chicks" each night with Mitch. What an episode!
In an effort to shake things up Baywatch has added a new character to the show by the name of John "JD" Cort while simultaneously diminishing the importance of poor Trevor the Australian. It seems that someone at NBC said that the show needed more action, more violence, more sex and more putting the people around you in danger without remorse, and they put all of those qualities into one guy. Cort never takes responsibility for the awful things he does but he's presented as a rebel lifeguard hero. Man this guy sucks, but honestly he is fun to watch. There's also a side story involving Shauni and Jill trying to sell more sandwiches on the beach than a guy named Buddy. Sandwiches and Cort! What more could you ask for?
The pier is in danger of shutting down for safety reasons unless $50,000 can be raised so someone came up with the great idea to park a 20-ton armored truck filled with $100,000 cash on top of it and put 2 women in bikinis next to it for people to pay $5 cash for a picture with the money and girls. Sure it's slightly confusing but there's really no other way to raise money for a pier in need. Garner is worried that this is a bad idea but later in the episode he seems ok with it. Unfortunately the pier eventually gives out and takes Eddie and Shauni who are trapped inside down to the bottom of the ocean. Will they survive? You have to listen to this podcast or watch the episode or look up the episode summary online to find out! There's also a surprisingly entertaining storyline involving Jill and Trevor competing in a Pro-Am volleyball tournament so she can beat her creepy former lover and volleyball partner who is favored to win. Do Jill & Trevor prevail in the finals after being down big? I'll tell you right now that of course that's what happens because the protagonist always wins the big game in TV or movies. But Eddie & Shauni? They might die! (Probably not)
An old flame of Mitch & Craig's named Alison arrives in town for the 11th Annual Mitch Buchannon Rip Festival and they're both still in love with her. Fortunately for Mitch she's still way into him. Unfortunately for Craig she has absolutely no interest in him, but that might be because he's already married to Gina who is conveniently out of town this episode. Or maybe it's because Craig has cold, dead eyes. Either way, Mitch & Alison are all over each other and Craig is so jealous that it's causing conflict in his relationship with Mitch. They can't stop fighting and that's not good since they need to work together for the upcoming Dory Race that no one cares about. There's also a new lifeguard named Tony who's helping a guy named Marv steal cars at the beach, and Eddie's too naive to figure this out. Thankfully Trevor sets him straight. Soon after that Garner almost decapitates a guy with a metal gate. There's also a moment where I'm pretty sure Craig says to Mitch, "You should have waited Mitch. My sausage was still hanging in the air and you went bird-dogging in on her!" He's got a point, Mitch.
The worst storm in 8 years is on its way to Baywatch and Mitch has decided this is a great time to redo the roof of his house. Will the roofers finish the job before the storm arrives? No chance! The storm also brings a couple of criminals to Baywatch HQ who earlier shot Garner and left him for dead. They take a number of people hostage including Craig and Gina who are once again having relationship issues. This couple is trending down. But trending up is Shauni and Eddie who finally share their first kiss together! But nothing's hotter right now than Captain Thorpe's ability to nail an audition at the radio station to be the guy that delivers the surf report every morning. And yes they are holding auditions at night in the middle of a dangerous storm. Sure Baywatch, I guess you can cram this audition storyline into this episode even though it doesn't fit.
Unfortunately there's a serial killer on the beaches of Baywatch. Fortunately Charlie Mihelich (UCB) is our first ever guest on this week's Baywatch Watch! Unfortunately Charlie is powerless to stop the killer as he lacks the ability to appear in a TV show from 1989. Fortunately Mitch & the gang are on the case! Unfortunately Eddie's not much help because he's fallen in love with Craig's wife Gina after getting drugged up at the dentist. Fortunately Craig's eyes are so lifeless he fails to notice. Unfortunately Jill is in some scenes.
Bryan Cranston appears in this episode of Baywatch as one of his most iconic characters, Tom Logan the party boat captain who refuses to play by the rules! When he's not dropping brides-to-be in the water with his reckless driving, he's telling Mitch and Craig to F off while wearing a t-shirt that says Logan's Party Animals. I can't wait for the Funko Pop figure of Logan that will almost certainly come out eventually. But that's not all! Shauni has a new boyfriend and he totally sucks. Eddie is so upset by this guy that he takes out his frustration on a helpless sink faucet. And Hobie is trying to avoid his friend Jenny because he's sick of seeing her so much. Sure, she's totally cool when you're both on an island avoiding pirates a few episodes ago, but once you get back home you're suddenly over her. Whatever, Hobie. Oh, I almost forgot, there's a lot of shots of Cranston's taint whenever he drives the party boat. Enjoy!
There's a lot of sexual tension in the air at Baywatch and also a little bit of old-fashioned lifeguard rookie school rivalry. Craig and Gina are on vacation and planning to make a baby, but it's just too much pressure for Craig and he's become a complete wreck incapable of doing anything besides complaining. Over at rookie school, Trevor has himself a brand new rival named Jeff who will do whatever it takes to finish first, and that includes having his own personal lifeguard coach who cares about "winning" rookie school more than anything else. This lifeguard coach really should find a new passion in life because this is just sad. Speaking of passion, Eddie is having the kind of sex Craig could only dream of with a girl named Amy that he recently met at rookie school. What's her deal? Oh, she's just pretending to be a lifeguard trainee because she's on the run from her drug lord ex-boyfriend who even the cops are afraid to go near. Those are the 3 main plot lines. But don't worry, we also get a moment where Mitch tells everyone at rookie school to do a five lap buoy swim, which he then explains is "Five laps around the buoy." Thanks for clearing that up, Mitch!
Wow! Baywatch really went for it on this one and made an entire episode based around Jill. Can you believe it? The episode begins with a wealthy man on his morning swim being murdered by a scuba diver. Jill probably could have saved him if she wasn't distracted by a dumb guy using an inner tube. Priorities, Jill! Everyone believes that the weatlhy man drowned after a heart attack, but out of nowhere Jill has a hunch that it was murder and now she's playing detective at Baywatch. As part of her investigation she makes a highly detailed diorama. But her committment to the case suddenly flips when she falls in love with the main murder suspect after one conversation. From that point on she actively works against the investigation. Priorities, Jill! This episode also features a conman pretending to be a lifeguard for kicks and the worst montage we've seen so far. The star of the montage? Jill of course!
The sky is truly falling on Baywatch as Gayle threatens to take Hobie away from Mitch when she transfers to Ohio...oh...that and an airplane crashes into the ocean. Meanwhile Captain Thorpe decides its time to get in the trenches to teach the young lifeguards some lessons. Shauni and Eddie LOVE the company. Remember that plane that crashed into the ocean? Its two passengers are saved but are attempting to retrieve its cargo. Is it trouble? Will they be thwarted? Is this the end of Hobie's life ocean side? Will Gayle and Mitch have sexy TV sex? Find out!
Oh no, pirates! A couple of modern day pirates are terrorizing the waters of Baywatch and no one seems to be trying very hard to stop them. That is until Hobie and a couple of his friends take a boat out onto the ocean and go missing. At that point Mitch and the team spring into action. Ok, that's not really true. They let a full day pass without searching for his missing son. But on the day afterthat, they do a full Baywatch-style search and rescue. As they wait for someone to take an interest in rescuing them from the island they've been stranded on, Hobie and his friends have a Goonies-like adventure as they evade the pirates chasing after them. We also get a B story involving an Iowa couple that lost their travelers check. It's okay, I guess. Check it out!
Eddie's pilfering Philly past catches up with him in the form of a former pal named Jimmy Roché. The two of them spend the first 20 minutes of the episode talking about how much they love Wawa, but after that things get a little dicey. Jimmy blames Eddie for the 3 years he spent in juvenile hall and now he wants payback, but Eddie just wants to move on with his new life. All of this City of Brotherly Love drama results in a fantastic 80's montage. Elsewhere, lifeguard Trevor is learning about secondary drowning for the first time, lifeguard Shauni is complaining about having to rescue someone who was drowning, and lifeguard/lawyer Craig is wearing a dress shirt/tie combo up top and swimming trunks down below. What should the producers of Baywatch name the episode after the one titled Heat Wave? How about Second Wave? Great choice!
The beach is packed as temperatures reach record high, pushing our favorite Baywatch lifeguards to the limit. Craig is being pushed by his law firm to make the ridiculous chocie of being either a lawyer or Lifeguard. And to top it all off, a ex-lifeguard buddy of Mitches shows up out of the blue and secretly on the run. Who's he running from? Will Mitch be able to save his buddy's son and Hobbie from a rappidly-filling storm drain they get locked in (because...Baywatch). Tune in to find out!
Trouble hits Baywatch when a 2-person gang of power skiers terrorizes the waterways. And even worse, these 2 adult men are willingly hanging out with Mitch's 10-year-old son, Hobie, who they affectionately call, Hobster. We also learn that down on his luck Eddie is without a home and sleeping overnight in lifeguard towers. Other highlights include Hobster shooting the pier on a power ski, Mitch & Garner solving a crime together for the first of many many many times, and a completely new Gina! Did the producers of Baywatch regret using "In Deep" as a title so early on when they could have saved it for a deep sea diving episode? Most likely yes. But either way you shown join us for this Power Ski Pandemonium!
Baywatch starts off with an action-packed pilot episode filled with boats, helicopters, and lifeguard towers. Highlights include a lifeguard getting his truck stuck under a pier, an acrobatic Australian with questionable business cards, and a veteran lifeguard nearing mandatory retirement age. Here we get an introduction to all of the major players in season 1: Mitch, Eddie, Shauni, Captain Thorpe, Trevor, Hobie, Gina, and lifeguard/lawyer Craig. Plus we also meet Jill. Come say hello and goodbye to the loveable Al and get wet with us for the first time!
