On this episode, Shyanne shares her first birth story - which was a beautiful homebirth! Shyanne and her husband welcomed their first baby this past July in their living room! She has always wanted a homebirth, and she feels extremely blessed to have found an amazing team to support her through it all. It was amazing to hear her describe that her pain never got super intense, she truly had the dream birth.
Shyanne was in denial that her labor could be moving so quickly, but she was happily surprised! This is such a positive, peaceful homebirth story and exactly what I wish every mama could experience. You do not want to miss this episode!
Shyanne shares that homebirth is NOT illegal in the state of North Carolina but it is VERY difficult because CPMs are not legal. Go to ncforcpm.org to learn more and help fight for CPMs in North Carolina!

Guys, you do not want to miss these stories! These two stories come from Abhinaya, a creative at heart and a seeker at the core. She says that entering into motherhood has been extremely pivotal in understanding herself more, and listening to positive birth stories absolutely changed the trajectory of their on births.
Her first birth took place in a hospital and although she did do it unmedicated, the policies and procedures that took place still left her feeling like there had to be a better way. She planned a homebirth for her second but was transferred to the hospital, where she remained in control and empowered!
Her story is a story of strength. She had an amazing birth despite it going differently than she originally wanted, and it goes to show that even though you plan for your birth to go a certain way, you need to be prepared to run into hiccups.
I hope you love this episode as much as I do, please share and rate the show! If you want to come on the podcast and share your story, feel free to DM me.

I’m diving into a topic that I’m incredibly passionate about—informed consent. If you’ve been following my journey, you might remember my first birth story from episode two, where some pretty shocking things happened. In this episode, we’ll explore what informed consent really means and why it’s so crucial for your birth experience. We’ll break down scenarios like epidural decisions, labor inductions, and even Cesarean sections, showing you exactly how to advocate for yourself and make empowered choices. I’ll also share real-life examples and tips on how to ensure you’re fully informed and in control of every decision during your pregnancy and birth.
We will cover:

I'm sitting down with my friend Ann Morris, an amazing doula near Atlanta, GA. She shares her first two birth stories while awaiting her third sweet baby!
Her first birth was a planned hospital birth and her second was a beautiful, empowering homebirth.
Ann's stories are so similar to mine, she went into her first birth with not a lot of knowledge of options and that led her to researching more about birth and deciding that there was a better way.

In this week’s episode of Birthing Bravely, I sit down with doula Ann Morris and talk all about the variations of normal in labor. These are things that some people can automatically assume are emergencies when in reality, they’re just things that are a little not normal, but not emergencies.
Here’s what we’ll dive into:
✨ Pre-labor rupture of membranes (or when your water breaks but you don’t feel any contractions yet) and wtf to do about it.
✨ Breech presenting babies and how you can get that baby flipped into the optimal position.
✨ Long labors and why we both agree that putting women on clocks in labor is dumb af.
✨ Meconium and why it’s really not as scary as you may think.
✨ So much more!

Hey besties! In this episode, I'm sharing my first birth experience. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one! At barely 22, I was thrown into the deep end of childbirth without a clue about what to expect.
I talk about how hospital policies and rushed medical staff made me feel more like a checklist than a mom-to-be, robbing me of control and ignoring my intuition. Yall, this birth was traumatic... BUT it did ultimately put me on the path to becoming a doula/childbirth educator because I DO NOT WANT ANY OTHER WOMAN TO EXPERIENCE THIS!
I want you to have your dream natural birth. Let's do this thing!

In this episode, my friend Deb and I dive deep into the concept of physiological birth, also known as undisturbed birth. We share personal stories of our own birthing experiences to illustrate the stark differences between medically managed births and physiological births. We also discuss the importance of being empowered, informed, and supported throughout the birthing process, no matter where you choose to give birth.
Here's the link to the download I mentioned, where you will find tons of questions to ask your provider to make sure they align with you!
