The Best Movies of 2023

The year of 2023 had some big surprises at the cinema, and because of that your hosts might have liked the same movies, but there are many one-list outliers this year (and not just from David). This week, we're back for 2022, a year where we're going to have to prove to Time Magazine we're still a good podcast. Kicking off this year, we have three movies that a lot of Twitter seems to be getting all wrong. First – most everyone liked Licorice Pizza except maybe Da7e who wanted a bit more "there" there. Then, Matrix: Resurrections is good and that's the truth. Finally, director Adam McKay is mad at everyone with Don't Look Up, a snarky comedy currently on Netflix.

Four Movies From 2011  ….ish

It's another Fighting in The War Room Quarter Quell! 

Instead of capping off the year with our annual Top Tens, we've pushed that episode back into January for film catch-up and instead delivered another Quarter Quell! This installment, each host brings a movie from FITWR's first year of podcasting, which went from being called an Kino Katey Audio Blog to Operation Kino before becoming Fighting In the War Room. Travel back to late 2010 through Summer 2011 as your hosts revisit 127 Hours, Limitless, Water for Elephants, and Super 8. Four movies not based on pre-existing IP…well, I guess 127 Hours was a book, but you'll get it.

For all the films EXCEPT 127 hours, the segment kicks off with a long-lost clip from the original podcast with horrible audio.

But before that, Katey, Patches, Da7e, and David dive into Nightmare Alley, which is also out in theaters this week, and Katey uses the holiday podcast real estate to remind us Polar Express is still bad.
