FTN Episode 302 – Is the ITC House Rule for Flying Vehicles Dumb?

‘House Rules’ are tricky.   Are we at a place in the game where we need a few to keep the competitive fires stoked?   We tackle a little bit about that question on this show.  We also talk about how Paul was wrong about a Space Marine flyer.

Hey guys,

Space Marines will continue to climb the tournament rankings with their new supplements.  We’ve spent a lot of time talking about Iron Hands but this is only the beginning as generals out there really drive in to the subtleties of the other supplements.

I believe I was completely wrong about the Stormhawk interceptor and you can even make a case for things like the Storm Eagle and Fire Raptor still.  Those things were a little underpowered for their points a few weeks ago but with the addition of the new Space Marine rules – maybe not.

Please please please check out the new Forge The Narrative objective markers. These things look awesome. Ordering a set is a good way to support one of our sponsors AND the show. Find them here.

The ITC has issued some House Rules for their upcoming tournaments that disallow the use of ‘wobbly model’ for Vehicles with the Fly keyword.  You have to be able to completely place the model with NO overhang of it’s footprint (model or the base depending on what you use to measure in the game) on the level it is trying to sit on.  Wobbly Model was been abused to the point of obscenity – not because it doesn’t make sense that a model could fly over the spot but because it prevents interaction of other models in the game.    Is that the intent?  I don’t think so.  This house rule helps address that but is it a bridge too far?

The Wrong Way Kids will be putting on their first official public event later this year the Armageddon Series: Coastal Assault. Tickets are up for sale right now. Please join us. You will have a good time. It will be a full ITC format event and an excellent opportunity to get ITC overall and faction points.

We’re delighted to continue to represent Discount Games Inc as sponsor of our show. They are helping bring FTN to you. Please check them out and support the organizations that support us. Discount Games Inc. offers Games Workshop products at 15% off the suggested retail at their website here. You can send an email to the owner Jay. These guys run a podcast too! Check them out. I believe they currently have few of the GW Holiday Bundles still available too!

We proudly represent Firmer Terra as well. I had a great time speaking with one of the founders and I thought their offering would be PERFECT for a lot of gamers out there. Right now they are offering impressive shipping promotions to buyers in the US. Please check them out.

No real Hobby Section this week but we do want to hear about how you’re getting on with army list building. The meta is ripe for change right now and it’s only getting better.

Thank you and Enjoy!

Forge the Narrative is mostly a Warhammer 40k Podcast. Each episode is about an hour long. This ideally gives you something neat to listen to on your way to work, or on the way back home. Maybe you can even listen while you are painting or modeling!

Please follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook!

FTN mostly focuses on 40k, but again you will see in the first few episodes we take a severe deep dive into nerdom. These have been a blast to record and I hope they help pass the time for you.
