A mad scientist kidnaps and sends two test subjects to space, forcing them to watch the entire series of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Never before did a more meta premise for a podcast exist!!!
The podcast Gizmonic Institute Radio: Your MST3K Companion is created by ReneaMattNJeff. The podcast and the artwork on this page are embedded on this page using the public podcast feed (RSS).
It's MANOS!! Dr. Odd makes a new friend, and we talk in-depth about one of the most well-loved MST3K episodes ever in this super-sized edition of GIR!
Sometimes even Dr. Odd deserves the silent treatment even if he claims not to know what he did (HE KNOWS). The crew are visited by a holiday LEGEND, and discuss MST3K S4E23 - Bride of the Monster. Enjoy!
We are back from our holiday down on Earth and ready to talk more MST3K! Specifically S4E22 - The Day the Earth Froze, a delightful Finnish epic about something called a Sampo. Also Dr. Odd is cooking up a new scheme, and let me tell you... this one really STINKS.
Dr. Odd once again explores the limits of mad science, motivated by his obsession with having a 3rd arm and heat vision like Pseudo Seth. Will he finally achieve his dreams this episode? The crew also discuss MST3K S12E6 - Ator the Fighting Eagle, the final episode of season 12!
This week, for multiple, unrelated, individual reasons, the crew has a collective existential crisis. We also discuss MST3K S4E21 - Monster a Go-Go, which while doesn't have a direct correlation to said existential crisis, didn't help.
Dr. Odd's experiments leave us temporarily down one crew member, but it turns out to be ok because we have a VERY SPECIAL GUEST fill in. We discuss MST3K S4E20 (nice) - The Human Duplicators a sci-fi mystery movie where the movie tells you all about the mystery right away, and then you get to watch people bumble around and figure it out. Also RICHARD KIEL!!
Special thanks to our spectacular former-host-now-back-as-guest, Seth Macy! If you want to see more of what Seth has been up to, check out his TikTok @itssethorama
As it turns out, delivering an ape to space is harder than it seems. Espeically when you forget to load the ape into the shuttle. Learning experience!
This week the crew also discusses MST3K S12E5 - Killer Fish a film that manages to be full of intrigue and piranhas, and STILL manages to be a snooze fest.
This week the crew gets a visit from a new friend, who seems very interested in selling them things they don't need, for money they don't have. They also discuss MST3K S12E4 - The Day Time Ended, a surprisingly divisive 80's sci-fi movie
Whoever said you can't have a book club in space wasn't lying. But as it turns out, there are plenty of other types of media out there to discuss. The crew also discusses MST3K S4E19 - The Rebel Set!
This week we travel through several multi-verses and then Dr. Odd interprets our dreams. No, we haven't named the dog yet. The crew also discusses MST3K S12E3 - Lords of the Deep, a strange undersea film about goop and saving the planet.
Ready your velvet bag full of beans, this one is about to get weird! The crew discusses Attack of The The Eye Creatures, an oily film whose title contains a double article, presumably at the expense of the film itself having any redeeming qualities!
Your favorite 90's energy soda is back, and with a vengeance. This week the crew discusses MST3K S12E2 - Atlantic Rim, although most of the talk about Atlantic Rim is about The Asylum - the company behind Atlantic Rim but it's all Atlantic Rim adjacent. Mostly.
Summer means it's music festival season, and Dr. Odd definitely doesn't plan on missing out! Although he may end up having some unwanted company first... The crew also discusses MST3K S4E17 - Crash or the Moons OR Crash of Moons because even the people who made this tv-show-turned-movie didn't care enough about the title to be consistent.
Dr. Odd returns from vacation, but he isn't alone... The crew also discuss MST3K S12E1 - Mac and Me. Do you like Peanut Coladas?
Dr. Odd is gone on vacation this week so the crew invents new card games, rations food, and finally figures out what that coffee maker does. They also discuss MST3K S4E16 - Fire Maidens Of Outer Space, a hidden gem of an episode lost in the labyrinth of film licensing.
This week Dr. Odd has us doing what he calls the "Pizzadental Fitness Challenge" which is as unpleasant as it sounds. The crew also discusses MST3K S11E14 - At The Earth's Core, the final episode of season 11!
This week we do some SCIENCE! The crew also discusses MST3K S4E15 - The Beatniks, a film about Beatniks which has no actual Beatniks in it... we don't think... because we STILL aren't really sure what Beatniks are.
This week Jeff gets mentored about the free market and tries to negotiate with Dr. Odd. Renea really wants a t-shirt with a polar bear on it. The crew also discusses MST3K S11E13 - The Christmas That Almost Wasn't, an actually... not bad Christmas movie? Does a thing exist in the MST3K-a-verse?
Dr. Odd gets a visit from his favorite family member, and the crew put on their problem-solving goggles and discuss MST3K S4E14 - Tormented. FIREWORK RAT!
"Magic" is such a challenging modifier for this film. "Mundane", "Horrifying", or "Sweaty" seem like they would all be better choices, but at the end of the day, who are we to judge? As you may have guess from the previous sentence and the name of the episode, this week the crew discusses MST3K S11E12 - Carnival Magic, while Dr. Odd makes a series of mistakes, that are different than the series of mistakes he made last week (these ones involve vegetables!).
Grab your D20 and roll initiative, because a new audio log is here! Dr. Odd and the crew are playing D&D which goes about as well as you can imagine a D&D game with Dr. Odd would go. Renea and Jeff also discuss MST3K S4E13 - Manhunt in Space!
We discuss Dr. Odd's dating profile on Doctrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and Topher the ape gets a job at Ralph's. The crew also discusses MST3K S11E11 - Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II, a film that one could describe as a disappointing sequel to Wizards of the Lost Kingdom I, if one were to be generous and use words like "sequel" and "film" to describe Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II.
It's surprise inspection time! We'll see if the crew can pass Dr. Odd's semi-quarterly and mostly optional OSHA (Outer Space Health Aliens) walk-through without too many violations. The crew also discusses MST3K S4E12 - Hercules and the Captive Women, a good MST3K episode riffing an unintentionally hilarious movie.
This week, there are no fools to be pitied in Dr. Odd's newest experiment, and the crew discusses MST3K S11E10 - Wizards of the Lost Kingdom! Check it out!
This week Dr. Odd explores new horizons of mad science and get rich quick schemes, and learns that you should never trust a chimp with mange. The crew also discuss MST3K S4E11 - The Magic Sword, complete with a fun quiz!
This week we talk dreams, and Dr. Odd fills us in on all of the new changes he is planning on making for the show now that it's a 'reboot'. The crew also discusses MST3K S11E9 - Yongary, Monster of the Deep, a Korean kaiju movie filled with harmless fun... until the incredibly disturbing end. Beware the jack-o-lanterns filled with feathers!
Jeff and Renea wake up from a 3 year nap to find things are... different. Dr. Odd waxes nostalgic about the job he just left and then we talk about Hercules Against The Moon Men, a movie that contains no moon men as far as we could tell, but A LOT of Hercules. ENJOY
Renea and Jeff talk about what dinosaurs are. Dr. Odd dreams about a career in TV & VCR repair. The crew also discusses MST3K S11E8 - The Loves of Hercules!
Jeff and Renea wax nostalgic about some of their old space friends, Dr. Odd talks about some of his cool powers and gets some mail from prison. The crew also discusses MST3K S4E9 - Indestructible Man!
Dr. Odd delivers a TURD talk, teaches Jeff and Renea how to make cheese and everyone talks about who their best friend is! Renea and Jeff also discuss MST3K S11E7 - The Land That Time Forgot!
Renea and Jeff explore new uses for the ridiculous amount of clam juice they always seem to have on hand. Clam juice ice cream? Sure. Clam gel? Ok. Skim Clam Juice? Huh. The crew also discusses MST3K S4E8 - Hercules Unchained!
Dr. Odd discusses space zoology with Jeff and Renea and then tells the origin story of the evil AI Fats Geronimo. Jeff and Renea send a space message. The crew also discusses MST3K S11E6 - Starcrash!
Renea plays music, and then the crew encounters some wild space dogs. They also discuss MST3K S4E7 - The Killer Shrews. Radiation is a magical artist!
Renea and Dr. Odd make Jeff cry, Dr. Odd gives the crew an astrology lesson, and then people make New Year's resolutions. The crew also discusses MST3K S11E5 - The Beast of Hollow Mountain!
Renea falls asleep, and Dr. Odd does some architecture. Then Dr. Odd receives a surprised visit from his mother Maude. The crew also discusses MST3K S4E6 - Attack of the Giant Leeches!
This week Dr. Odd pitches his biography to Jeff and Renea, and discusses past Babar The Elephant related traumas. They also discuss MST3K S11E4 - Avalanche!
Jeff and Renea are recovering the last few weeks, after Dr. Odd took them on a summer vacation. They also discuss MST3K S4E5 - Being From Another Planet!
Jeff and Renea hack Dr. Odd's Netflix account, and have a great time going through his viewing history. They also discuss MST3K S11E3 - The Time Travelers. What Are When?!?
Someone a long time ago once said “the Pen is mightier than the Sword”. Well up here in space we have neither pens nor swords, but Renea STILL managed to write a fairly lengthy space station newsletter. Maybe “newsletter” should be put in quotes? Aside from a rather interesting website write up, the other 900+ pages are somewhat questionable…
This week we discussed MST3K S4E4 – Teenagers From Outer Space. Not only is this a very good MST3K episode, but the film itself isn’t half bad either! All-in-all both Jeff and Renea enjoyed this episode quite a bit – particularly, but not limited to, anything directly related to really fake-y skeletons.
Do you ever metaphorically feel like things are out of control, and someone else is at the wheel? We literally feel that way this episode when we meet the unfortunate creature that Dr. Odd has tasked with piloting our ship (as well as a few other unsavory jobs).
This episode we discuss MST3K S11E2 – Cry Wilderness, a movie featuring a littering Bigfoot, and a lot of bowl cuts. Fortunately (despite the high ratio of bad hair) this turned out to be a fantastic MST3K episode – not just for the new season, but one of the best in the series.
I don’t know a lot about science, let alone mad science, but I’m pretty sure doing an “exchange program” with your test subjects isn’t par for the course. But in the domain of Dr. Odd “par for the course” is usually about as far from normal as you can get, so I suppose that this shouldn’t have been unexpected. Dr. Odd and Dr. Rodd have decided to do a test-subject switcheroo, meaning that Seth was sent away to be subject to whatever horrors Dr. Rodd has in store, and Dr. Rodd’s captive Renea was sent over to the land of MST3K and clam juice.
After a brief acclimation period, we watch MST3K S4E3 – City Limits a film which seems to have inspired most, if not all of the outfits in the Fallout video game series. It’s a pretty bad movie, but a overall pretty decent MST3K episode.
Oh no! This week your favorite MST3K podcast hosts are really ‘boned! (that joke will make sense once you’ve listened to the episode, trust me). Dr. Odd unleashes his newest hobby on us, and we get to watch S11E1 – Reptilicus, the first of the FOURTEEN NEW EPISODES OF MST3K THAT CAME OUT THIS YEAR AND I CAN’T EVEN BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SENTENCE I GET TO WRITE. Seth and Jeff have slightly differing opinions on certain aspects of the new episode, but overall really love it.
I’m not going to lie, things get a little weird this week. Dr. Odd has started some sort of farm in his Chuck E. Cheese basement, but also there might be a gas leak? One thing’s for sure, there are a lot of puns!
We also discuss MST3K S4E2 – The Giant Gila Monster. It’s a movie where people throw a real lizard at models, and features some original “music”, or as I like to call it, “crimes against a ukulele”. Luckily, the film itself is so manic, that the riffing is fantastic, making it a preeeeety great MST3K episode.
We’re excited to dig into the first episode of MST3K season 4, and Dr. Odd is excited about managing a baseball team! A werewolf butler baseball team! But not as excited as he is to tell us about his “roller derby” experiences. Who knew Dr. Odd was so athletic? Certainly not us!
This episode we discuss MST3K Season 4 Episode 1 Space Travelers, which may be the most star studded film they’ve had on the show yet! It’s also one of the most boring and dour films they’ve had on the show to date, despite the fact that it actually won an Academy Award (which we also have serious issue with, but not for the reasons you might think).
Hello everybody! You know, sometimes when life gives you lemons, you challenge yourself by shoving an entire lemon in your mouth and trying to eat it. That old adage has never been more true, especially for us this episode. We also discuss the final episode of season 3, S3E24 – Master Ninja II, which is really just two episodes of a TV show standing on each others’ shoulders while wearing a trench coat and trying to convince everyone that they’re a real movie. It does have a hamster in it though (the film, not the trench coat)!
Hello friends! It’s nice to see you again! Things are still totally normal up here in space, and this week Dr. Odd let us watch a recording of the world series and showed us his newest hobby! An old friend returns for some goofs as well!
We also discussed MST3K S3E23 – The Castle Of Fu Manchu – the film equivalent of spending an entire day staring at grains of sand being blown around in the wind, except there isn’t any wind and at the end of the day you find out the grains of sand actually had character names. This movie is pure Deep Hurting, and is so bad that it actually negatively affects the episode enjoyment quite a bit. That’s a huge shame because the host segments are actually some of the best in the series so far (particularly the final segment), but even that can’t save things as a whole. We still had a lot of fun talking about it though!
Hello everyone! I hope that you’re enjoying the summertime down on earth, running around and capturing defunct mid-2000’s celebrities on your flip phone app. Or maybe that’s just Dr. Odd.
This episode we discuss MST3K S3E22 – Master Ninja I, a MST3K episode that we didn’t really like that much, riffing a movie that we kind of did like… This paradox has left us shaken to our collective cores – we’ll be over here sitting in the corner, rocking back and forth with our knees clutched to our chests mumbling about racist stereotype accents.
Hello and happy holidays! (whatever holidays those may be).
Dr. Odd has mysteriously disappeared, leaving us completely unsupervised up here in space. Since this was the case, we threw a dart at our space calendar and decided that by our calculations (and we’re both very good at regular math and calendar related math) it was probably prettttty close to the Christmastime holidays down on earth, which is great because our audiolog is about MST3K S3E21 – Santa Claus Conquers the Martians! This episode is truly a treat – the movie itself is poorly made and has the world’s most obnoxious theme song, but it has a lot of heart and is genuinely enjoyable in spots. The riffing from Joel and the bots is SPOT ON this episode. These two factors combine to make this a classic episode – great for watching over and over again, or for introducing someone new to the joys of MST3K.
Hello everyone! Don’t be scared! That isn’t a living jack-o-lantern filled with fake blood grinning at you! That’s just Dr. Odd with a mouthful of cough drops. A LOT of cough drops. On second thought, maybe you should be scared.
This week we discuss MST3K S3E20 – The Unearthly, a slow-moving garbage barge of a movie that even MST3K riffing failed to salvage. Luckily, this episode is balanced out with a couple of delightful shorts – “Posture Pals” and “Appreciating Our Parents”. These shorts were able to pull this episode back from the void of extreme boredom. Man, is The Unearthly bad. I don’t think we can stress that enough.
I want to start off by saying that it isn’t our fault we ALLEGEDLY might be sky criminals. Unintentional sky criminals. Sorry about the headaches.
This month we watches MST3K S3E19 – War of the Colossal Beast, an unnecessary sequel to a movie that probably didn’t need to be made in the first place. Seth kind of liked some of the makeup? Luckily this episode also featured the phenominal short – Mr. B Natural, which kind of redeems the whole thing. It’s about a demon woman who uses her dark powers to convince middle schoolers to join the band and buy CONN brand musical instruments. It’s… it’s really unique.
Learning is fun! At least that’s what Dr. Odd wants us to believe, and even then, learning all about cheese doesn’t really seem that helpful. This will all (hopefully) make sense once you listen to the episode.
This week we discuss MST3k S3E18 – Star Force: Fugitive Alien II – a “movie” that has both a long, and very confusing title. Also, I put the word “movie” in quotes because this is just another Sandy Frank re-edit of a Japanese television show, except this time it was re-edited to not make any sense at all!
Hello everyone! We’ve been busy up here in space working on our new webcomic Space Buddiez, but not too busy to bring you a new Audio Log!
We discuss MST3K S3E17 – The Viking Women And The Sea Serpent, which is a TERRIBLE movie that even the best riffing has trouble saving. Luckily, it is paired with a 1950’s short about Home Economics, which almost single-handedly redeems the whole episode. Joel and the bots also talk a lot about Waffles. So there’s that too.
Why hello there! You’re looking rather nice today. I feel like we’ve been asleep for a while, but it’s hard to tell up here in space… Though now like the most misbehaved toddlers, we’re awake again and full of more energy than we know what to do with! Except we DO know what to do with that energy, and that’s talk about MST3K S3E16 – Gamera VS Zigra!
This is a special Gamera episode for a lot of reasons. Firstly, the movie itself is the product of an insane person tasked with creating another Gamera movie when all the good ideas for Gamera movies had been used up two Gamera movies ago. The MST3K episode is as much a love letter to Gamera as it is to the loyal viewers who have survived the season 3 gauntlet of magical flying turtle films along with the cast. It’s a wonderful, special episode, but definitely not for MST3K initiates.
What happens when you mix a robot with some solar palladium he found on an asteroid? Nolbot gets crazy, and Dr. Odd is trying to go to a concert of questionable content (but not the questionable content YOU’RE thinking about, you dirty-minded so and so!). So essentially, just another week for us up here in space.
We discuss MST3K S3E15 – Teenage Caveman, which is a remarkable episode not so much because of the feature itself, but because of the two preceding shorts. Having three separate subjects of riffing makes this episode a unique experience (not to mention you get to see black and white footage of people doing horrible things to natural wetlands in two completely different scenarios).
I’m going to start by listing all of the things we liked about the movie Mighty Jack.
Ok, now that we have that out of the way, we can talk about other stuff like mayonnaise, and Golden Corral. Seriously though, this is probably the worst movie ever riffed by the guys at MST3K, and not a strong episode in general. I mean, it’s still an MST3K episode which puts it head and shoulders above other media, but it’s definitely not one we’re going to re-watch any time soon.
My audio log has a first name, it’s E-A-R-T-H! My audio log has a second name, it’s S-P-I-D-E-R! This week is a very musical audio log where we work on cooking up a bunch of different jingles for a very specific product. Jeff even does a rap! We have fun here.
We also discuss MST3K Season 3 Episode 13, Earth VS The Spider. There are a lot of questionable things in this movie, like the decision to store the corpse of a giant spider inside a 1950s high school science classroom. For example. It’s also one of the few episodes on which Seth and Jeff have a differing opinion, which makes for some interesting discussion as well.
I’m not going to lie, being stuck in space with relatively nothing to do can leave a person pining for entertainment of pretty much any kind. Unless of course the “entertainment” is the kind that Dr. Odd foisted upon us (and indirectly you, fair listeners) this week. We apologize in advance.
This week we discuss MST3K Season 3 Episode 12 – Gamera VS Guiron. I don’t need to tell you that we already LOVE Gamera, and that this is the most loveable Gamera movie we’ve watched so far. Plus it has amazing music. Plus it features the world’s weirdest kids. There isn’t really much to dislike about this episode, and we gush about it accordingly.
“Or DID it?” is what we smugly ask no one in particular any time anyone says the title of this film out loud. Ok, not really, but you have to admit, it is a blatantly misleading title. Anyway, this week we get up to more hijinks – Nolbot is back and is mad at everyone for his time spent is servitude as a sign spinning bank mascot. Oh, and Dr. Odd went to some sort of seminar and thinks he knows about business strategy now. So that’s great.
We also discuss MST3K S3E11 – It Conquered the World (or DID it?) – probably the shortest feature we’ve seen so far in the series. Luckily it’s paired with the wonderful short “Snow Thrills”, a delightful romp through the world of fun wintery activities from a time before things like “helmets”, “quick release ski bindings” and “a basic regard for human life” existed.
Hello friends! It’s good to be back! Be warned though, Dr. Odd has an… interesting… investment opportunity for you. Just make sure to hold onto that strawberry Fanta when you jump into the ball pit.
This week we discuss MST3K S3E10 – Fugitive Alien, a made for TV movie made from cut together clips from a failed TV series. Despite its questionable roots, it happens to be one of those perfect movies that not only lends itself to MST3K riffing, but also turns out to be a pretty silly and enjoyable film on its own.
Ugh. I think I’ve been in space too long, because I just called Fugitive Alien a “film”.
This week’s episode begins with Dr. Odd warning us that “Things are going to be weird this week.” Despite our initial misgivings and disbelief that they could be weirder than NORMAL, it turns out… he was right.
Jeff and Seth are thirsty. Nol-bot offers to make juice. Dr. Odd talks about Clam Juice for the first time. The boys also discuss MST3K S3E8 - Gamera vs Gaos. Technically you can melt a vegetable!
Seth, Jeff and Dr. Odd play a game of Dungeons and Dragons where Nol-bot is the DM. Dr. Odd doesn't want to be a miner. The boys also discuss MST3K S3E7 - Daddy-O!
Seth, Jeff and Nol-bot play a new game for the Oddstation. Dr. Odd has a broken heart because of Science Prom. Seth and Jeff discuss MST3K S3E6 - Time of the Apes!
Jeff and Nol-bot design a new logo. Seth is confused. Everyone argues about the qualities of birds. The boys also discuss MST3K S3E5 - Stranded in Space!
Like the great stag bounding through the thick forests of interdimensional space, things are back to normal. Kind of. Well, maybe not. The boys also discuss MST3K S3E4 - Gamera vs Barugon.
This week we watched Pod People. There’s nothing else to really say. We aren’t shy that this is one of (if not our top) favorite episode we’ve watched (and possibly all time). All that’s left to do now is to sit back, relax, and listen to how much we love Pod People, Music from the Hearts of Space, and remembering how we went to school with Faruk Alatan.
Yay! We finally got to watch the first Gamera Episode! What exactly is it about Gamera that makes us love him so much? Is it his confusing origin story? Is it the fact that one of his powers is to shoot sparklers out of his shell and spin around? Who knows! We just love him and we love this episode a lot.
Yay! We’re back! And boy oh boy, is the first episode of the third season of MST3K a doozie. Cave Dwellers totally steals our idea of a 20 second recap and expands it into a 10 minute slew of fantastic names and places. And that’s just the beginning! Several growling snakes, a hang-glider and some coconut bombs later, and you have yourself a MOVIE. Too bad there aren’t really any cave dwellers present.
This week Seth and Jeff take a look back at season 2 of MST3K. There are laughs, tears, and quite a bit of talk about Denver the Last Dinosaur.
Do yourselves a favor – grab a slice of pizza and familiarize yourselves with Terry O’Quinn before tonight’s audio log. What am I talking about? Of course you’re already familiar with Terry O’Quinn. Never mind.
This week we discuss the FINAL episode of Season 2 – Godzilla vs the Sea Monster! It’s a pretty good ep… just not AS good of an episode as the previous Godzilla vs Megalon. In our opinion anyway. We’ve been wrong before.
He jock it made of steel! KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! Japanese monster movie time! With a robot! And… other stuff!
We get a kick out of this week’s movie offering, partially because it’s a Japanese monster movie and we love cheesy Japanese monster movies, and also because it’s a pretty great ep of MST3K. Now if you were to quantify HOW great of an ep it is compared to other awesome cheesy Japanese MST3K episodes (Prince of Space and ANYTHING with the word ‘Gamera’ in the title jump to mind), it’s pretty average. We’re celebrating this episode in particular because it’s our FIRST cheesy Japanese monster movie episode. Also it’s great.
Nol-Bot and Seth play a game. Seth and Jeff theorize how golf pencils are made. The boys also discuss MST3K S2E11 - First Spaceship on Venus. Let's play cheese hunt!
Are Jeff, Seth and Nol-bot actually starting to miss Dr. Odd? Seth gets a buzzword or two. Jeff and Seth discuss MST3K S2E10 - King Dinosaur. Keep it succinct!
Merry Kronmas! (and Happy Kronmas to our friends in the UK!) Do yourself a favor, go familiarize yourself with Mallory Keaton. I promise, it will help.
Not that she has anything to do with this week’s MST3K Episode S2E9 – The Hellcats. Joel and the bots riff on another biker movie in a string of biker movies (if you’re keeping track, 30% of this season’s MST3K movies so far have been bad biker movies). If you remember our episode about Sidehackers, you’ll be upset to know that The Hellcats shares more than just a flimsy premise and aesthetic. Yay. There are also A LOT of blue riffs this episode, so at least that’s something.
Rock Climbing.
Seriously, the previous sentence speaks for its self.
I’ll bet you’re excited for the thrilling conclusion to last show’s cliffhanger! Guess what? The conclusion is SO THRILLING that we had to make it a three part trilogy! A Thrillogy?!??! I just thought of that just now and totally haven’t been sitting and waiting to use it at this exact moment.
This week we discuss MST3K S2E7 – The Wild Rebels, an episode that (spoiler alert!) Seth didn’t mind and Jeff didn’t really like all that much. Between Wild Rebels and Sidehackers, it could be possible that Jeff just doesn’t really like motorcycle movies. Who knows? WE DON’T HAVE TIME TO SPECULATE.
Just in time for Halloween, we have a spoooooooky audio log about a spooooooooooky MST3K episode, S2E6, Ring of Terror! Actually… there really isn’t anything spooky about this audio log, and there is DEFINITELY nothing spooky about Ring of Terror. In fact, this may be the worst movie that Joel and the Bots have had to watch since last season’s Slime People. It really is that bad. But not spooky.
You know what people don’t emphasize enough these days? Friendship. It’s important, especially in space. I can’t stress that enough. This week’s episode also features our ship’s elevator.
We discuss Rocket Attack USA, the episode which we accidentally call Rocketship XM no less than TWO times during the audio log. Is it our fault that both movies have similar titles? I don’t think so. Is it our fault that both movies are big stinkers, as well as being total bummers? I certainly hope not. This episode of MST3K was great though. We’re to the part of Season 2 where the show is really starting to find its voice, which means we have great things to look forward to! Also – Rocket Attack USA! is the first episode that features an end of show stinger. Good stuff!
All I have to say is, be careful what you wish for. Especially if you add a bit of insurance to your wishes by using some advanced science and physics. You’ll find out what I mean soon enough in this week’s audio log.
While we experience an uncharacteristic departure from our usually INSANE goings-on, this week’s MST3K episode, Catalina Caper, does more than enough to make up for it by injecting our lives with the FDA daily recommended dose of good-natured teenage hijinks. We haven’t had this many hijinks since Untamed Youth, and good news – this time there aren’t any horrific miscarriage/teenage deaths to bring the movie down! There IS an underwater knife-fight, but that just INCREASES the level of hijinkery.
If you couldn’t tell, we really like MST3K S2E4 – Catalina Caper.
Jeff and Seth discuss all the things that happen only on the days they record audio logs, and then meet The Smile Brigade! They also discuss MST3K S2E3 - Jungle Goddess
Special guest appearances by:
Jake Fisher - Lieutenant Giggles
Rich Kimball - Brigadier General Yuckyuck
Jake and Rich are the co-hosts of the Terrible Friends Podcast, a show which can't be found anywhere on the internet anymore!
Seth, Jeff and Nol-bot play a card-game, and meet the great and powerful "Sentinious The Merciless" and his evil minions. We also discuss MST3K S2E2 - Sidehackers!
Seth and Jeff have now become untethered from Earth and are drifting through space, which makes their visit from a door-to-door pipe seller even more strange. The boys also discuss MST3K S2E1 - Rocketship X-M!
Seth and Jeff are joined by MST3K's own J. Elvis Weinstein (season 1's Tom Servo and Dr. Laurence Erhardt) for a very special wrap up of MST3K Season 1!
Jeff, Seth and Nol-bot deal with fallout from last week's Rockafire Explosion incident, and meet keyboard extraordinaire (and rampant AI stuck in a piano playing gorilla body) Fats Geronimo. The boys also discuss MST3K S1E13 - The Black Scorpion (the final episode of MST3K Season 1)!
This week Dr. Odd has some very important matters to discuss. The Boys meet Dr. Odd's new intern, Todd. Seth and Jeff discuss MST3K S1E12 Untamed Youth.
Starring Josh Holmgren as Todd the Intern!
This week the boys have a meeting, because meetings are important to have. Dr. Odd has a lava accident. Jeff and Seth also discuss MST3K S1E11 - Moon Zero Two! Cybermen's Wearhouse: You're gonna like the way you 01001100100010110011000
