This week we resume the story of the Birth of the Demon, picking up after the band’s first official rehearsal yielded their first original song, “Night Demons”. You’ll hear about their decision to write and record an EP’s worth of material, with a minimalistic look and packaging. The band members speak candidly on the record about their stage names, including the sources of those names and their reasons for adopting them. But the focal point of the episode is the three rehearsals in March and April 2011 that spawned three more songs. The band describe the genesis of those tracks and how they came into existence, as well as the corresponding band name revisions along the way. They discuss how the iconic “Rocky” cover artwork was created and why it favors Iron Maiden’s Eddie. The episode concludes with the band on the brink of entering the studio with Armand at the production helm to record the four-song debut EP.
