The line between the physical and mental isn’t truly there. We believe we have physical diseases in some cases because it keeps us safe from buried emotions. Listen as Scott shares about the science and the findings in our bodies in KI—which mirror each other. Scott began using the term the Great Non-Bypass when he first began introducing emotional repression inquiry to people to denote how widespread spiritual bypassing really is in eastern practices and teachings. That phrase takes note of how systematically avoidant these teachings and practices can be, sometimes not even mentioning or pointing to or helping people process buried emotions even though science has shown that buried emotions are the root of most of our suffering. Now that Scott has co-authored the book *Awake but Sick: The Myth of Immediate Freedom and the Dangers of Spiritual Seeking and Finding* with Toshi Matsunaga, Scott is ready to teach in a different way, which includes awareness as the ground of our experience, along with the processing of buried emotions for genuine transformation. In this podcast, Scott shares a poignant story about the intricate dance between addiction and codependency, drawing from his extensive personal experience as the owner of addiction treatment centers and someone from a family deeply affected by addiction. He guides us through the mindset of individuals who suppress their anger and seek love and validation by helping others facing addiction. Scott emphasizes that the true addiction often lies in the craving for love and safety from others. Both the addict and the codependent must take responsibility for their buried emotions to heal this dynamic. This episode delves into Scott's personal approach to living, as well as his insights on personal and business relationships, illustrating how the personal, impersonal, and interpersonal are interconnected through the shared root of suffering. Scott shares his journey on the spiritual path, emphasizing the importance of connecting with both the body and others from the start. He discusses how buried anger and disconnection from his body led him initially to an ascending path that offered a sense of presence but ultimately resulted in more suffering, including two chronic diseases.
Scott also explains how this avoidant path later informed him about how to teach a more embodied approach. This more body-focused approach has personally given him a greater depth of freedom both in his body and in his relationships. Shifting his focus, Scott moved away from simply pointing to presence, as many teachers do, and instead collaborated with Dan McLintock to develop practical tools (KI emotional repression inquiry) designed to help individuals experience true embodied freedom. Scott goes into depth around how his previous shadow modalities and other such modalities do not get to the very root of the shadows, which is emotional repression. He breaks apart the entire process of how we miss it in our direct experience. We miss for example that we create the sense of separation for safety from the emotional repression, and that our resistance to doing skillful shadow work that gets to the repression is a natural extension of this conditioning with us, the demands separation and suffering over freedom and authenticity. There is a way out and Scott explains it. To work directly with Scott, visit https://kiloby.com/scott.
In this episode, Scott delves into the complexities of emotional repression and its impact on our relationships. He explores how unmet needs for love, safety, and approval often lie beneath the surface, driving our behavior in unconscious ways. When we enter relationships, we may not even realize that we’re seeking to fulfill these unmet needs, leading to suffering and conflict.
As individuals begin to process their buried emotions, they uncover a love rooted in authenticity—one that allows for the full spectrum of feelings to be expressed. This authentic love shifts the dynamics of relationships, transforming them into spaces characterized by peace, wholeness, and flow that arises naturally from the emotional honesty that comes from processing buried emotions. By approaching relationships from this place of authenticity, suffering can give way to genuine connection and fulfillment.

In this episode, Scott explores the origins of relationship triggers and the complex interplay between buried emotions and various trauma responses—such as fight, flight, freeze, or fawn—or self-limiting beliefs that arise when we are triggered. These reactions are often protective mechanisms designed to keep us safe from the buried emotions we have yet to confront. However, these very buried emotions also create the triggers that impact our relationships and overall well-being.
On a spiritual or healing path, we may mistakenly engage in awareness-based or inquiry processes aiming to avoid these buried feelings, which can unintentionally perpetuate our suffering rather than alleviate it. In this podcast, Scott unpacks the true source of our triggers and illustrates how an overemphasis on these responses can blind us to the deeper issues at play—specifically, the unmet needs from our childhood that connect to these buried emotions.
Listeners will gain a greater understanding of how addressing our triggers is essential, yet not sufficient on its own, to truly heal and break free from the patterns that drive our suffering. If you're ready to delve deeper into the roots of your reactions and emotional experiences, this episode offers critical insights for your journey toward authentic healing.

In this episode, Scott explores the question: Is it safe to care and love deeply? He distinguishes between genuine care and the superficial empathy often confused with it. Genuine care is embodied, arising from the processing of buried emotions and unmet childhood needs. Scott emphasizes that true safety and love are achieved when we confront our trauma and emotional repression. Many struggle with apathy, stemming from unresolved anger, hurt, or sadness, unknowingly fearing the depth of true love. By recognizing this source, we can break free from apathy and embrace our natural state of caring deeply. Join Scott in this thought-provoking episode as he tackles the complex question: Are we responsible for the bad in others? Delving into emotional repression, Scott explores how buried anger made him fixate on the bad in others.
While acknowledging the real issues and suffering present in the world, Scott aims to help listeners understand how emotional repression contributes to dualities of good and bad. He addresses a listener's question about the listener's sense of responsibility for others' suffering. Scott was falling asleep one night while listening to something on YouTube when he suddenly woke up to something appalling. He heard a social media influencer, who is very popular but struggles with anger repression, bamboozling her entire audience by not owning her anger repression. Instead, she acted overly empathetic to lure in and maintain her following. Scott, recognizing the profound impact of this behavior, felt compelled to wake up and record this podcast to share the true motivation for his work in KI and explain how it represents a different modality. Listen closely to learn how to dissolve narcissism instead of placing blame on others.

In this episode, Scott dives deep into building trust through authenticity. He addresses a question from an audience member who is considering engaging in KI but feels hesitant about trusting Scott and the method. Scott shares his own experiences with distrust, which stem from buried anger, and emphasizes that self-trust has been a crucial aspect of his personal journey.
He explains that all trust issues ultimately relate back to self-trust, highlighting how emotional repression can hinder our ability to express our true feelings and, consequently, trust others. Scott uses the questioner's concerns to explore trust as an internal process, stressing that genuine trust is developed through processing buried emotions. Authentic relationships emerge from this exploration of self.

In this episode, Scott explores the hidden dynamics of avoidant attachment style and why individuals may cheat in relationships. This episode is a result of many people asking Scott about the common infidelity among spiritual teachers and how they often don’t address it directly and maturely. Many people have also asked Scott about their cheating spouse or their own history of infidelity, blind to the roots of such behavior.
He discusses how unmet emotional needs from childhood often lead to deceptive behaviors and emphasizes that buried emotions, if unacknowledged, can result in cycles of guilt and shame.
Scott highlights that individuals who cheat may later feel overwhelming guilt or shame and an urgent need to hide or apologize, showcasing the internal struggles tied to unprocessed feelings. By addressing the roots of infidelity, Scott provides valuable insights into the emotional complexities that drive such behaviors and the way out of this suffering.

In this episode, Scott delves into the intricate factors that shape human motivation and behavior, drawing insights from his recent blogs on Medium. He discusses how our genes, environment, cultures, and conditioning are inseparable, but emphasizes the often-overlooked role of emotional repression in our suffering.
The episode examines various perspectives on suffering, including theories from Sigmund Freud, Anna Lembke, and Donald Hoffman. Each offers unique insights, but Scott urges listeners to recognize that merely analyzing these theories isn't enough. True change comes from actively processing buried emotions. Scott also touches on non-dual traditions that challenge the idea of separation, suggesting that recognizing our interconnectedness can alleviate suffering. He calls for a shift from survival mode to thriving, encouraging listeners to embrace emotional responsibility and seek deeper connections with themselves.

Scott shares his personal story of transformation as a non-duality teacher, reflecting on how his teachings, while initially beneficial, often helped others sidestep their own unresolved feelings by pointing to presence. This approach inadvertently created an inauthentic experience of compassion and empathy, which he unknowingly transmitted to those who came to his work for support.
In this episode, Scott explores how he has come to recognize that authentic compassion is rooted in a genuine desire to alleviate suffering, while authentic empathy involves receiving another's experience free from the distortions of one's own unresolved emotions.

In this episode, Scott delves into a unique and often unexplored topic of how witnessing phenomena coming and going to awareness can perpetuate suffering through the ruminating effect of that kind of practice. For years, Scott lived in the seeing of the waves coming and going to the ocean of awareness, but the question of why the waves were appearing was never addressed until KI helped Scott access, through a vertical practice, the buried emotions that were creating the waves at the surface. Here, Scott warns against not understanding how ego rumination can turn to spiritual rumination, which keeps us from achieving true freedom and living that in our relationships. Although these concepts might feel foreign at the beginning, they are important for KI, as they allow us to pinpoint the avoidant pattern more specifically and work with it in KI.

Scott is excited for listeners to hear this interview with Mark Vicente.
Mark Vicente is an author, speaker, and award-winning Writer/Director/Producer from Johannesburg, South Africa. His filmmaking journey began at a young age, leading him to become the Director of Photography for the musical *Sarafina!*, starring Whoopi Goldberg, and one of the youngest cinematographers to shoot a big-budget studio film with Disney’s *Fatherhood*, featuring Patrick Swayze and Halle Berry.
Driven by a desire to tell untold stories, Mark created the groundbreaking film *What the BLEEP do we Know?!*, which blended science, philosophy, and filmmaking, achieving remarkable success through grassroots marketing. He later released *Encender el Corazon*, addressing the kidnapping epidemic in Mexico, but made the difficult decision to pull it from distribution after uncovering ties to the criminal enterprise NXIVM. This journey was documented in the HBO series *THE VOW*.
Mark's current project, *Empathy Not Included* (The Narcissist’s Playbook), is a feature-length documentary that explores the pervasive issue of narcissism, featuring insights from self-aware malignant narcissists alongside wisdom from survivors and mental health professionals.
In this episode, Scott calls narcissism "needism" to help reduce the stigma surrounding the subject. He emphasizes that we all have narcissistic tendencies, even if some exhibit more extreme, diagnosable forms. By owning the mechanisms of emotional repression that create a sense of falseness in our lives, we can begin to recognize that we are often operating on unmet childhood needs, particularly the need for love and safety. These needs drive us in relationships and on social media. Unfortunately, many people do not process their own repression before trying to help others, which can lead to codependency in both personal relationships and social media interactions.
The need for connection, coming from the disconnection in our bodies, can spiral out of control when we do not do our own work. Need is essentially a separation from ourselves, which leads to seeking needs to get met by others. Until we do our own transformative work, we are operating from disconnection and needing. The insidious thing about it is that we will deny it because these needs and the emotions connected to them are buried. This is a call to action for everyone to engage in the inner work necessary for transformation, as it can ultimately transform the entire earth. The issues we face, whether they be greed, crime, drugs, divorce, or narcissism on social media, stem from basic human needs that we have buried. By uncovering these needs, we hold the key to our ultimate freedom.

In this podcast, Scott delves into how making conscious the mechanism that creates suffering is our opportunity to experience our authentic being and live life without suffering. We have to continue suffering until it feels safe for us to feel and express all that's true, but when it does, we feel chemically balanced and sustainably regulated. We find safety and love within and can offer that in relationship, whereas before we were disconnected from our bodies and each other. While Scott is not a therapist or a doctor and does not diagnose or treat any conditions, his background as a codeveloper in KI, combined with his personal experiences and ownership of mental health and addiction treatment centers, allows him to discuss the topic from a somatic perspective.
Listeners can expect a refreshing viewpoint on BPD, and Scott encourages them to share the podcast with researchers, therapists, and others working in the field to help advance the understanding of this complex, trauma-based mental health issue. In this episode, Scott delves into the complex relationship between love and narcissism, focusing on the covert agendas that stem from buried anger and unmet emotional needs. He emphasizes that when we confront our own narcissistic tendencies, rooted in childhood experiences of seeking safety, love, and approval, we open the door to experiencing authentic love and genuine connection. Scott shares his personal journey as an anger repressor, highlighting how these covert agendas can manifest in subtle ways, often without our awareness, leading to manipulation in relationships.
Listeners are urged during the podcast to search AI on the issue of whether unmet needs are also hidden and connected to buried emotions. As AI will indicate, the answer is yes. In this episode, Scott delves into the journey of finding safety and love by processing buried emotions through present moment awareness. He shares his experience of identifying with sadness and other vulnerable emotions in relationships, and expressing those feelings to people close to him.
Scott reflects on how he believed that his suffering—rooted in hurt, grief, and sadness—was the entirety of his existence from childhood until the age of 40. However, after awakening to non-dual awareness in 2007, he noticed that much of the hurt and sadness began to fade, albeit with a few triggers remaining. This journey ultimately revealed a bypass of buried anger that had prevented him from discovering his authenticity. It was only through processing this buried anger that Scott could truly find safety and love within himself.

Scott emphasizes that true transformation comes from processing buried emotions rather than avoiding them through spirituality. In this special episode, revealing upcoming developments in KI, Scott explores how emotional repression influences human behavior through the lens of the pleasure-pain principle. This principle, rooted in early psychological theories, highlights our innate drive to seek pleasure and avoid pain.
Using the iceberg model as a framework, Scott categorizes emotional programs into two distinct areas: those that reside above the water, representing our needs for connection, safety, and validation, and those that lie beneath, encompassing the pain-producing programs associated with the repression of anger, sadness, and hurt.
This episode emphasizes how unmet needs are connected to emotional repression, showing people a very direct, accessible, and simple way to see how the pain-pleasure cycle creates suffering from emotional repression in their everyday experience.
This episode is focused on how to dismantle barriers to authentic expression and connection by addressing skillfully the pain-pleasure mechanism. This leads to a more fulfilling life and improved relationships.

Scott takes on a unique perspective regarding suffering, asserting that we inherently have a right to suffer, a right we've carried since birth. Conditioned into a sense of separation, our suffering often stems from unprocessed emotions hidden within the body. When we do nothing about our suffering, we are, in essence, exercising this right.
As a non-duality teacher, Scott reflects on how many passive practices he offered inadvertently allowed people to continue exercising their right to suffer by avoiding their buried emotions. Through his mentoring in KI emotional repression inquiry, individuals reclaim their power, realizing that while they have the right to suffer, they also possess the right to be free by addressing the root of their pain.

In this podcast, Scott explains how emotional repression leads us to unconsciously choose safety and love over freedom. This affects our choice of paths, practices, and teachers, sabotaging our journey. After years on a spiritual path, we might wonder why we still suffer, facing issues like disease, chronic pain, or addiction. The reason is that we unknowingly prioritize safety over true freedom.
Although we aim for freedom, our unconscious conditioning keeps us safe but suffering. The Kiloby Inquiries (KI) offer a way to break free by addressing the unconscious drivers of this suffering. To talk to Scott, visit https://kiloby.com/scott.
In this thought-provoking episode, Scott emphasizes the significance of having the right context in our spiritual practices. He clarifies that "right" does not necessarily equate to what is correct or absolutely true, but rather refers to a perspective that guides us toward understanding our experiences in a way that addresses the root of our suffering. Scott explains that if our context diverts us from recognizing how we contribute to our own suffering, we risk falling into an avoidant spiritual path—one that our unconscious mind seeks as a means of safety and love. He highlights that buried emotions, which we struggle to process due to the contexts we adopt, play a crucial role in this dynamic. For those interested in working directly with Scott, visit https://kiloby.com/scott.
In this thought-provoking episode, Scott shares his personal journey growing up in a gender double bind, feeling unable to fully embrace either masculinity or femininity. Repressing anger made it difficult for him to embody the typical cultural signs of masculinity, while being biologically male prevented him from expressing his femininity without facing bullying. Throughout his life, Scott struggled to find a place within the confines of gender, unaware that his buried anger was at the core of his challenges.
Scott explains how discovering and processing not only his buried anger but also his repressed femininity ultimately resolved the question of his own authenticity. By addressing the repression of both his masculine and feminine sides, he was able to navigate his identity more freely. This episode may resonate with many listeners, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, offering insights into the complexities of gender expression and emotional health.

In this episode, Scott explores the intricate relationship between our consciousness and the future shaped by advancements in AI and deepfake technology, inspired in part by a song from Aimee Mann and current events. Scott delves into how taking sides—whether politically or otherwise—often serves as a protective mechanism from our unresolved trauma and buried emotions, ultimately perpetuating our suffering. He focuses in part on “sick green” consciousness and how progressive viewpoints are often still driven by old wounds from mom and dad. Instead of aligning with specific conspiracy theories, positions or parties, he advocates for making consciousness and embodiment our top priorities. This shift will ground us in an uncertain political and economic landscape, as well as navigate the challenges of trust and verification of identity in an increasingly complex digital world. Rather than solely highlighting suffering, Scott focuses on inspiring listeners to transcend their struggles. To work directly with Scott, visit https://kiloby.com/scott.

In this thought-provoking podcast episode, Scott explores the concept of hyper-independence and how it can become a significant hindrance on one's spiritual path. He explains that the insulated barrier created by those on a hyper-independent path often involves neglecting buried emotions, leading them to become their own cult leader, guiding them into the same self-sabotage and avoidance that has been driving them since childhood.
Hyper-independence often results in an avoidance of genuine connection, with common negative effects such as addiction, chronic pain, and ongoing emotional distress. He urges listeners to question the unmet needs and suppressed emotions that fuel such behavior, as true self-trust would naturally foster authentic relationships.
Listeners are invited to reflect on how hyper-independence may masquerade as self-trust, yet ultimately prevents deep connections with others, driven by underlying fears. Scott delves deeply into how grandiose narcissism originates from a foundation of repressed hurt and sadness. Scott discusses the complexities of emotional repression, revealing how these buried feelings shape the grandiose persona often seen as a means to meet unmet childhood needs and maintain a supply of validation from others.
Scott outlines the intricate relationship between grandiose narcissism and the full spectrum of emotional repression. He emphasizes that anger repressors, frequently unaware of their own covert narcissism, can find themselves triggered and challenged by individuals labeled as grandiose narcissists. This podcast clarifies these relational complexities, providing insights into how the structure of grandiose narcissism reflects a broader human experience.
Listeners will understand that the same repression dynamics seen in narcissism exist within all individuals, and embracing our inherent narcissistic tendencies is a vital and healthy approach to navigating this topic.

Happy New Year! In this episode, Scott dives into the concept of New Year's resolutions, highlighting their common nature as often short-lived desires for significant life changes. He reflects on how resolutions like losing weight, becoming more connected, or dropping a compulsion can fail to sustain themselves over time. Scott shares insights from his journey, particularly focusing on emotional repression inquiry—a practice developed to reveal how emotional repression sabotages our success and well-being.
After years of struggle, Scott was able to change behaviors quite effortlessly by framing it all differently and developing essential skills (KI Emotional Repression Inquiry). He also draws influence from James Clear's book "Atomic Habits," emphasizing how listeners can make it easier on themselves. He explains that we unconsciously seek to get childhood needs of safety and love met, which leads to the resolutions we make consciously being unmet and resulting in more suffering.
Before making any big commitments for the year ahead, tune in to this podcast for a deeper understanding of how to transform your approach to change and avoid another year of failed resolutions.

In this episode, Scott shares the poignant story of Mary, who grapples with her challenging relationship with Christmas and her father. As Mary buries herself in work to avoid the painful feelings that arise during the holiday season, her hidden suffering begins to manifest as physical ailments, seemingly connected to her unresolved issues with her dad. Ultimately, she decides to confront the root of her suffering, leading to a shocking revelation about her deep-seated anguish and the feelings of obligation tied to Christmas.
Mary's journey is fraught with struggle and introspection. She navigates the confusion of looking outward for validation—from her father, men, and the holiday itself—only to find that true healing requires her to turn inward. Through this painful process, she learns to unravel the layers of her hidden agony, ultimately discovering the greatest gift she had longed for as a child: the innocence of authenticity. Scott provides context along the way, offering listeners a unique perspective on the underlying motivations for suffering and the path to healing.

In this episode, Scott delves into covert narcissism in a stream of consciousness manner, illustrating how repression underlies all forms of narcissism, whether diagnosable or not. He emphasizes that each of us must confront this issue and explore whether our narcissistic or ego-driven behaviors stem from the fear of anger, hurt, or sadness. For those who bury anger, hidden or covert manipulation and control often manifest in relationships, creating dynamics that remain unseen. This is what makes it covert; we often project onto others the very traits we dislike within ourselves. Until we acknowledge and own these aspects, true freedom eludes us. In this episode, Scott invites his very special first guest - the innovative Dan McLintock - Co-Developer of KI. Dan and Scott tackle the concept of the original gaslight: how we often believe we’re being gaslit by others while failing to recognize that we gaslight ourselves due to emotional repression from childhood. They dive deep into how this self-deception plays a significant role in meeting our needs and maintaining a false narrative about our lives.
Dan and Scott also share their unique journeys and how their histories intertwined to form KI—meeting at a pivotal moment to address the avoidance of their previous spiritual paths. In this episode, Scott dives into the intriguing world of conspiracy theories, offering a unique perspective that links the beliefs of their proponents to underlying trauma and buried emotions. He explores how these unprocessed feelings can shape an individual's worldview, causing them to project a reality that is deeply influenced by their past experiences.
While many seek the truth through these theories, Scott suggests that they often overlook the importance of introspection—ignoring the emotions tied to their childhood experiences. These buried feelings can manifest as strong shadows cast upon figures of authority, like the government or parental archetypes. Rather than leading to genuine understanding, this path can sometimes deepen ignorance. Scott emphasizes the need for curiosity not just about external events, but also about our internal consciousness. By exploring our own feelings and experiences, we can address the suffering that manifests in the world around us. This journey inward allows us to break free from the duality and confusion that often dominate our perceptions of reality.

Join Scott in this episode as he dives into the Three Dimensions of Spiritual Practice developed by KI. Scott explores how these dimensions shape our spiritual journeys, detailing the actions we take—or do not take—in our practices. In the first dimension, we sit in stillness, allowing our thoughts and feelings to arise. In the second dimension, we prompt something up from the unconsciousness that would not have otherwise come into awareness without our prompting. Scott emphasizes that the first two dimensions often overlook buried emotions, leading to an inherent bypass in spiritual growth.
To address this bypass, Scott introduces the groundbreaking third dimension of spiritual practice created by KI. He not only explains these three dimensions in depth but also shares solutions to the automatic bypass that frequently hinders spiritual progress. Additionally, he highlights insights from his new book, *Awake But Sick: The Myth of Immediate Freedom and the Dangers of Spiritual Bypassing*, which offers a comprehensive look at bypassing and its dangers. Most importantly, Scott discusses how to truly end suffering by confronting the very emotions we often seek to avoid. To work directly with Scott, visit https://kiloby.com/scott.
In this episode, Scott explores the intriguing connection between codependent behavior and buried anger, drawing on scientific and academic research to illuminate this vital topic. Many individuals may exhibit seemingly benign behaviors—such as being overly nice, trying to save or fix others, or prioritizing the feelings of those around them—yet these tendencies often mask deeper, unresolved emotions.
Scott reveals how codependent behaviors, while prominent on the surface, can lead to an oversight of the buried anger that fuels these actions. By understanding the hidden roots of codependency, listeners will gain a fresh perspective on their own behaviors and the emotions that may be influencing them without their awareness.
Through insightful discussions and evidence-based insights, this podcast episode provides a deeper, more enlightening way to engage with the complexities of codependency. If you’re looking to unravel these behaviors and confront the underlying emotions, this episode is a must-listen.

In this podcast, Scott discusses how words like enlightenment and awakening have been used to help us avoid the very root of suffering, buried emotions, which do not arise to awareness. In the future, as people become more educated about how trauma and emotional repression drive suffering, they will find the teachings of enlightenment and awakening increasingly irrelevant as they do not address what doesn’t arise and what therefore produces suffering. The new enlightenment is not a new enlightenment at all. It’s about throwing out all the old that kept us from ending our suffering, which is what enlightenment or awakening should have been about from the beginning. In this podcast, Scott focuses on Eckhart Tolle’s concept of the “pain body” and how he encourages people to overlook the conditioning of emotional repression hidden in the pain body. Like so many modern non-duality teachings, his work ignores the very root of suffering. In this episode, Scott explores the connection between buried emotions and the premature quest for forgiveness. He discusses how we often seek forgiveness as a way to avoid facing our internal suffering. Authentic forgiveness comes from confronting and integrating these hidden emotions. As long as we neglect our true feelings about the past, our suffering persists, leading us to rely on external forgiveness and spiritual practices. Scott emphasizes that true emotional liberation can only occur when we acknowledge and forgive the parts of ourselves we’ve hidden away. To work directly with Scott, visit https://kiloby.com/scott.
In this podcast, Scott discusses how shame and guilt serve as protective layers shielding us from deeper, buried emotions. He explains that we often compartmentalize our reality, identifying with parts of ourselves that bring love and approval, while hiding the parts that evoke fear and shame. This division leads to ongoing suffering, with many individuals feeling trapped in shame, mistakenly believing it's the final barrier on their healing journey. Scott suggests that instead of viewing shame as an endpoint, we can dissolve it and address the root of our suffering, recognizing that shame was merely a protective mechanism. Scott takes no position publicly on which candidate is a better fit for office. Instead he focuses on the unconsciousness driving all of us. In this podcast, Scott delves into the concept of authentic relating, emphasizing that true connection is hindered by buried emotions. He explains that when we are driven by unconscious needs for safety, love, and other essentials, we create suffering in our relationships. Many people tend to seek external solutions—like practices or other individuals—to alleviate this suffering, but these attempts are often ineffective due to the underlying unconscious motivations. In this podcast, Scott discusses how unmet childhood needs for love and safety unconsciously lead us into bypassing on spiritual or healing paths. He explains that suffering, deeply rooted in the unconscious body, shows up in relationships, causing disconnection and prompting us to seek relief through various practices. However, because of buried emotions, these practices often become ways to avoid confronting our pain, perpetuating the search for love and safety that wasn’t met in childhood. The goal isn’t to eliminate suffering but to meet these fundamental needs at a deeper level and to make them conscious, along with the buried emotions they’re tied to. This approach is central to the KI work—to address the fundamental need and move beyond bypassing for true freedom.

In this episode of Scott's podcast, he delves into the nuances of emotional release on the spiritual healing journey. Scott discusses how, in our quest for spiritual experiences, we may inadvertently focus on releasing emotions that feel safer, rather than addressing the deeper, buried emotions that truly drive our suffering. This emotional repression can lead us to believe that these safer releases are genuine markers of freedom, blinding us to the fact that the root of our pain remains unprocessed. Scott emphasizes that true healing comes not from seeking fleeting emotional experiences, but from pursuing authenticity, freedom, and true embodiment. He shares insights from his encounters with others who, like him, have realized that the key to healing lies in confronting the core of their suffering rather than getting distracted by surface-level emotional releases.
