Alexis and Suzanne are back with Season 4! This week, they cover Season 4 Episode 1, "Ballrooms and Biscotti." They are both thrilled to be back in Stars Hollow for a fairly drama-free day. Suzanne enjoys the appreciation for Starts Hollow while Lorelai and Rory eat biscotti and watch Taylor and Luke fight. Alexis fantasizes about Logan wandering the halls of Yale and imbuing the rest of the season with his essence even in his absence. Suzanne and Alexis might be a bit rusty, but they're more excited than ever to get back into it!

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 3 Episode 7, "They Shoot Gilmores Don't They?" Both Suzanne and Alexis are excited about the iconic episode, and excited that finally Rory and Dean will be over. They even side with Dean in a surprise twist. Suzanne is obsessed with Sookie's outfit and the audacity of Babette and Morey to pull a "veni, vidi, vici" for the 24 hour dance marathon that sounds a bit like torture. Alexis adores Dave and his pursuit of Lane, despite all obstacles. This is a momentous episode, and warrants the extra long recap.

Then, they are both a little appalled at the lack of movement either Lorelai or Rory have made during the summer in their personal lives. But, Alexis loves the summer florals and vibe of the town as Lorelai goes along her way. Both are pretty happy for Paris and her new paramour, Jamie. Suzanne gets annoyed at Lorelai for not respecting Luke's gruffness, an Alexis questions when exactly Rory decided that there was a Dean.

Élaina brings some history to the topic of race in Stars Hollow and notes how the show attempts to create distance between the town and any characters of color. Alexis finally finds somebody who knows Edith Wharton enough to have an in-depth conversation about class relations and conspicuous consumption. And Élaina turns the tables and asks some truly stumping questions leading to Suzanne and Alexis having differing conclusions for once. Suzanne loves that Sookie is getting her big day and representing a full circle love story for a fat woman. Alexis enjoys the musical stylings of the townspeople as the guests gather for the ceremony. And both are appalled by the highs and lows that Lorelai and Rory experience all in one afternoon.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 20, "Help Wanted". Suzanne starts off frustrated and discombobulated and stays that way. This week Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 19, "Teach Me Tonight." It is a doozy. This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 16, "There's the Rub". Alexis is critical of Lorelai's attitude from the beginning about the spa weekend with Emily and Suzanne is heartily annoyed by the "Chad" who interrupts their nice evening at the restaurant. Both agree that the spirited debate between Jess, Paris, and Rory about books is the highlight of the episode, and that Dean should have been more trusting of Rory (even though she kinda proves his point in a few episodes).

Alexis and Suzanne are back (again) with Season 2 Episode 15, "Lost and Found". They apologize for the impromptu break and Suzanne's peak Dickens-character nasally voice. They both ruminate on the stasis of Stars Hollow and the resistance of any of its residents when it comes to change, especially Luke and Lorelai. Suzanne is annoyed with Lorelai once again for getting too involved in Rory's relationships, while Alexis is ready for things to get a move on between Rory and Jess, and Luke and Lorelai for that matter.

This week Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 13, "A-Tisket, A-Tasket." As Alexis says, this is one of the most quintessential Gilmore Girls episodes. They both swoon over Sookie and Jackson's romance, cringe at Dean's jealous and possessive reaction to Jess, and question Lorelai's preemptive judgement of Jess. Suzanne theorizes that Emily is tricking Lorelai into realizing her irrationality, while Alexis holds firm that nobody is showing any trust in Rory in this episode.

Alexis appreciates the small moments between Madeline and Louise even though Suzanne critiques their obsession with counting calories. Both are frustrated with Lorelai for not accepting help, even though they also understand where she is coming from. They also commend Lane for trying something new and putting her own spin on it, even if Rory is judgmental about it. It's an episode full of quandaries.

This week Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 10, "The Bracebridge Dinner." Despite its ridiculous conflation of history, this episode is our resident medievalist's (Suzanne) favorite episode! Alexis waits with bated breath to see what will happen with Richard and Emily, and she and Suzanne agree that their final scene is one for the books. They are tickled by the convenient sleigh-ride pairings, and Suzanne loves Jess's not-so-subtle dig at Rory's and Dean's relationship.

This week Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 9, "Run Away, Little Boy." Once again, the Chilton curriculum is brought into question based off of their over-reliance on Shakespeare, and only Sookie's great recitation from Romeo and Juliet garners Alexis's Rory's Bookshelf moment. Both Suzanne and Alexis are irate over Tristan's actions towards Rory and Dean, especially the fact that Rory seems to still feel like he deserves her friendship. But, Alexis points out how unhealthy Dean's burgeoning jealousy problem is, and Suzanne has to agree. It does not bode well for the Rory and Dean shippers out there.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 8, "The Ins and Outs of Inns." They are both aghast at the phony crime scene. I mean, who could possibly have done it? But seriously, Taylor was terrible to Luke in this episode so Suzanne and Alexis obviously take Luke's side. They were both also devastated by the fight between Lorelai and Sookie, but at least Mia making fun of Michel was fun.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 7, "Like Mother, Like Daughter." While the majority of this episode is pure fun, at around 24:00, Suzanne does reference school shootings in relation to the loner joke that the show is making. This episode was recorded before the events of May 24th, but we kept this in because it is calling out the show for making light of the Columbine shooting in 1999. We have decided to pull together a few resources for our listeners who might want to take action or learn more in wake of this tragedy.

This week Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 6, "Presenting Lorelai Gilmore." While they are both ultimately on Lorelai's side and think that coming out to society is an antiquated tradition, they are intrigued by the pomp and circumstance. Suzanne is tickled by Jess's costume humor and Alexis is blown away by Lorelai's sleek black dress look.

Jess is finally here! In this episode, Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 5, "Nick & Nora, Sid & Nancy." Suzanne is obviously beside herself (as I'm sure you can tell by her extremely expressive voice ;)) and waxes poetic about Jess and how she finds him to be one of the best characters of the show. Alexis worries about the initial portrayal of Liz, who is a beloved character down the line, while Suzanne is also worried about Lorelai's insistence on being involved in Luke's new parenting. This episode may be a little long, but there was no way we could keep it short with such an arrival!

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 4, "Road Trip to Harvard." While Jess still hasn't made an appearance, and that is disappointing, both agree that this is a great episode. Suzanne even marvels at the evidence that Emily has been listening to Lorelai, although Alexis really ponders who told Max that the wedding was off. After an enjoyable, although temporally implausible and logistically fantastical, exploration of Harvard, Suzanne and Alexis are both ready for Lorelai and Sookie to get going on the legendary Dragonfly Inn. And for Jess to arrive.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 3, "Red Light on the Wedding Night." They are both, once again, confused over the continuity of the timeline, but ultimately agree that perhaps the wedding between Lorelai and Max was planned a bit too soon. Suzanne is once again a Taylor stan, regardless of how petty he might be. And Alexis revels in the Stars Hollowy-ness of the single traffic light and its ceremonious christening. Meanwhile, things go badly for Lorelai and Max, and ultimately, Alexis and Suzanne agree that their marriage would not have been great. Suzanne also, once again, wrongly predicts when Jess will appear.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover Season 2 Episode 2, "Hammers and Veils." They are both surprised and a bit worried that Rory has chosen to help build a house... People will have to live there some day. Suzanne is irritated by the unattainable expectations that college admissions put on students, which does nothing to promote learning as a pleasurable or worthwhile thing to do. Meanwhile, Alexis reveals that she spent her afternoons as a teenager on chat rooms while drinking cappuccinos (sus). All in all, they are both waiting for Jess to arrive, but especially Suzanne.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne are back with Season 2! They cover Season 2 Episode 1, "Sadie, Sadie . . ." and are once again tickled by the townspeople of Stars Hollow (that's a figure of speech, nothing weird happened here). Suzanne is reminded in a horrifying flashback of the strange accessory choices of teen boys in the early 2000's while Alexis is frustrated by the show's portrayal of Lane's Korean-American identity. In the end, both are bowled over by the power of Emily's facial expression of devastation, and are unanimously excited for the rest of the season.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover the Season 1 finale, "Love, Daisies, and Troubadours." They agree that it was a perfect finale, it gave happiness and romance, and overall, a wonderful relationship between Lorelai and Rory. Suzanne admits that, as an elusive asexual, she finds Rory and Dean's make-up make-out a little violent, but more or less satisfying. Meanwhile, Alexis can't get over how epic Mr. Medina's daisy-filled proposal is. In the end, neither can wait until Season 2!

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep20, "P.S. I Lo..." Both fully appreciate Stars Hollow and its many shops, including Suzanne's favorite, Le Chat Club. Alexis once again lauds Luke on his environmentalism and labor-friendly views. Suzanne and Alexis think Lorelai went a bit too far, accosting Dean (a 16 year old we might add) in the grocery store.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne discuss S1 Ep19, "Emily in Wonderland." They both agree that this episode was great up until the last ten minutes. Suzanne free associates with her Rory's Bookshelf selection, and both agree that it's maybe not the best idea to ask an acquaintance who your love interest is pining for to interfere on your behalf (we're looking at you, Rachel). As usual, Suzanne and Alexis make references to being in an obscure corner of Bachelor Nation, for more information check out the Game of Roses podcast.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep18, "The Third Lorelai." Suzanne betrays herself as a Trix fan, while Alexis is insulted on behalf of Emily. They both agree that Tristan and Paris wouldn't actually have much to talk about, and also that Summer got a bit of a short stick in Rory's estimation. Ultimately, Alexis and Suzanne are jealous that Rory even had the possibility of getting 250k, alas.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep17, "Breakup: Part II." They are both tickled by the town's rallying behind Rory in the wake of her breakup with Dean, although also a little skeptical of the gossip chain in Stars Hollow. Where does it begin and where does it end? Suzanne reiterates her dislike of Tristan and lectures that nobody should give somebody a pass for the horrible things they've done just because they are sad and cute. Meanwhile, Alexis is touched by the foundational relationship between Rory and Lorelai. Suzanne posits once more that Sookie could be read as a representation of somebody on the autism spectrum, and appreciates the relationship dynamic between Sookie and Jackson. All around an enjoyable episode despite its title.

This week Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep16, "Star-crossed Lovers and Other Strangers." Alexis highlights the talents of the town troubadour, who truly brings the whimsy to Stars Hollow. Both passionately disavow Dean and applaud Rory for the infamous car junkyard scene. Suzanne also ponders how strangely she says the word "car" (in post-production, but just imagine her thinking about this as she says it for the 100th time). Suzanne and Alexis also talk forebodingly about the next episode, so don't forget to tune in next week for the second half of this saga.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep 15, "Christopher Returns." In this emotional episode, both cry a little at Emily's tender moment with Rory after the explosive cocktail hour with Straub and Francine. Alexis appreciates the small town charm that is Miss Patty's efficient gossip chain but also questions Jackson's character analysis of Christopher. Suzanne tells everybody how exciting her social life is when she suggests a Friday night with the OED.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep 14, "That Damn Donna Reed." They fully question Dean's ideas about wives and "repressed housewives," while also genuinely wondering what Rory was trying to get across with her Donna Reed dinner. Suzanne loves the town enthusiasm for the painting of Luke's Diner, and both agree that the moments between Luke and Lorelai in this episode are truly magical. Once again, Alexis proves that she is a broadway encyclopedia. The show ends with a couple gazebo moments from a listener.

This week Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep13, "Concert Interruptus." They follow along as Lorelai and Rory sort through things for the rummage sale as well as through Luke's past. Suzanne gives an impromptu history lesson about putting corpses on trial, and Alexis once again extols the cultural phenomenon, Glee. While they disagree about Lorelai's meddling, they definitely are on the same page about Madeline and Louise ditching the concert.

In this episode, Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep 12, "Double Date." They discuss how the episode portrays gender roles and, in a small way, gives an opportunity to critique them. Suzanne is, once again, in love with Sookie and Jackson, while Alexis is fed up with Rune. They both agree that Lane deserves somebody who respects music enough to know which band t-shirt they are wearing.

In this episode Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep11, "Paris is Burning." They try out a new podcasting format, walking you through the many events that lead to Mr. Medina and Lorelai going from a happy couple to a thing of the past. Alexis marks the moment when Paris and Rory's relationship begins to change and Suzanne's shipping of Sookie and Jackson finally comes to a head when Sookie asks Jackson on a date. In their Friday Night Dinner nominations, Alexis critiques the poor boundaries of Max and Lorelai while Suzanne wonders what Mr. Medina's curriculum is actually teaching students.

This week, Alexis and Suzanne cover S1 Ep 10, "Forgiveness and Stuff." Both are overwhelmed by the emotion of this episode and talk at length about the nuance that is achieved with having most of the episode take place in one spot. Suzanne is obnoxious about Christmas spirit and Alexis is, once again, Emily's biggest fan. Alexis and Suzanne are blown away by Luke's ability to be a rock in the storm of Gilmore girls.

They discuss whether Dean was right to talk back to Lorelai and are astounded by the longevity of Willy Wonka remakes.
