Hello everyone! I'm Dalton, your new host of The JRPG Report! I want to give a special shoutout to James for always putting out a tremendous podcast, and I hope to carry the torch on for him! Though, apologies if I talk a little fast, I was a bit nervous this first go! lol.
But! This week, we had some BIG news regarding the release date of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, amongst a few other interesting little stories from the realm of JRPG news. A bit of a light news week, But I wanted to get this icebreaker out and say hello to everyone, and I hope you'll stick with me for the long haul <3 :)

It's been 15 days since the last show, and surprisingly there weren't a lot of stories to cover. But there was one huge, giant one: Kingdom Hearts IV is in development. There was an awesome trailer showing a new look for Sora and even some thrilling gameplay. I'll pass along every detail we learned.
There was also a new mobile game announced (yay) so I'll give you scoop on that. Dalton weighs in with some fanboy commentary too! I'll get you caught up on the past 2 weeks worth of news of course. Make sure you stick around to the end for what I've been up to and the results of my big meeting yesterday. Thank you for listening my friends.

For a first time on the podcast, we have not one guest but two! And it's two of my favorite JRPG nuts: Jake & Jordan. We hope you enjoy this fun chat about all things JRPG include what we are playing, why Ys 8 is so great, and a deep dive into Final Fantasy's popularity. Of course at the end we take Legend of Heroes so warning there maybe some spoilers.

Each year there are surprise announcements for games coming within the calendar year. We already have Xenoblade Chronicles 3 fit this bill, and now we have One Piece Odyssey. It's a really promising JRPG based off the anime coming in 2022. I'm excited for the game and will tell you what we know about it.
There were only two small announcements (unless I missed something) from yesterday's New Game Plus Expo, most notibly the revealing of Prinny Presents Volume 3. There was what seemed like an early April Fools Joke but its true: E3 2022 is cancelled. Choosing to relaunch next year in a physical and digital format, the digital only event schedule for June will not happen. The future of it remains uncertain.
I've got some news about the future of FF XIV from series producer Yoshi P, music from a Distant World and on vinyl, and an update on Chrono Cross. The latter is part of my ending rant so stayed tuned until the end. Today marks the first podcast in a long time that won't have a YouTube version. That experiment has officially failed. I sank 2 years into the project with no monitary reward. I appreciate all the interactions and friendships formed, but won't continue sinking hours needed into the format. Thanks to anyone who watched that way for the support over the years. I'm sorry.

Yup its another short week of news. I had to dig to find 30 minutes of content but we have some good stuff here. Today marks the worldwide release for Relayer, and I've got day 1 patch notes to make the gameplay experience better.
There's a new new cosmetic crossover event between Scarlet Nexus and Tales of Arise happening soon. No date or price was given yet so I'll have to let you know later. Soul Hackers 2 had a story update but it contains spoilers so I'll invite you to check the links via our social channels instead. We have a few indie games that might not be on your radar yet, but I think look promising. Lastly the great Yuji Horii was honored with a lifetime achievement award, so I'll read his statement. It goes over his career which started 40 years ago with Enix. Hoping for more news next week. We had to release on Thursday for personal reasons this week, and will again next week for work reasons.

With the remaster of Chrono Cross coming next month, what better way to prep for it than exploring the soundtrack? Nearly three hours and 67 tracks of amazing music here to enjoy. Not a huge news week, but here's a date Monster Hunter Rise fans have been looking forward to for a while: the release date for Sunbreak. The expansion dlc will hit PC and Switch on June 30, 2022. Along with the new trailer and images, I'll go over what we know about the game.
As you can tell from the show length, this week was shorter than usual. We've got a new game on the radar, sales on both the PSN store and Steam store, and updates for other great JRPG titles. Hope you enjoy it and thanks as always for listening.

It was a very odd State of Play from Playstation this past Wednesday. While we didn't get an update on previously announced JRPGs, we were treated to two new games, both coming in 2022. Square Enix showed off extensive gameplay and story elements from The Diofield Chronicle and Valkyrie Elysium, both of which look great. I'll go over most of everything we know so far.
Those two games were the only JRPGs show during the 20 minute livestream, but we have stories about the following games this week: Soul Hackers 2, KonoSuba dungeon RPG, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, and Disgaea 6 Complete. All that plus a few others around the JRPG world. As always thanks for listening!

It's been way too long since we checked in with friend of the podcast and host of the Steam Machine podcast, Dalton. He was kind enough to swing by and chat all about our beloved JRPGs (in addition to Pokemon talking in Episode 207). We had a blast catching up, talking about what we're playing, and a few other things. We hope you enjoy our chat!

Last week's Pokemon Presents surprised the gaming world with the next generation announcement: Scarlet and Violet are coming in 2022. I spoke with Dalton about his reaction to the news and what gamers can look forward to this year.
In addition to new Pokemon news, we have a release date for The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero. It will launch in North America September 27th, a few days later in Europe. Finally console gamers will get the play the Crossbell arc, with part 2 coming in the spring.
DigimonCon 2022 gave us the return of Digimon Survive and information about its delay. Still on track for a release this year after its move to a new publisher. There's still a new Digimon Story game in the works, and plans for a possible Digimon World port, remaster, or remake.
Those were the big headlines this week, but we had a few small stories too. Don't forget to listen to our Sunday Special with the one and only Dalton. We had lots of fun talking JRPG's and I think you will too.

It was a busy week for Atlus and Square Enix. We lead with a surprise new JRPG from Atlus called Soul Hackers 2, a sequel to the 1997 Japan only game. It was later released on 3DS in the west in 2013, and now we get a new game in the Shin Megami Tensei universe.
I'll go over everything we know about the world, characters, and story, including a release date much sooner than you might think. Square Enix showed us the next 10 year plan for FFXIV, including opening a path for single players. They also gave us the long awaited pixel remaster of Final Fantasy VI as well as some Nier Automata news. All those stories and more on Episode 206. Thanks for listening!

This is a special one, I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I have for the past 20+ years. It's a massive soundtrack so I've broke it into two parts, disc 1 and 2 this week with 3 and 4 next week. As a young man I'd listen to this OST while drifting off to sleep each night. I invite you to do the same or just listen as you please. This stands as one of Nobuo Uematsu's finest works, and will be enjoyed for many years to come.

There was one key piece of information we didn't learn with Chrono Cross Remaster's announcement last week: the price. Well now we know it's only $20, an excellent deal indeed. You can preorder now on all the e stores.
While certainly not as busy as last week, I do have some stories to pass along to you awesome listeners. Relayer is getting a demo ahead of it release next month. Enjoy 2 chapters and carry over progress to the full game. The opening movie for Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters has been released. Long time players will likely recognize the artist behind the song. We learned a little about the 3 warring nations of Triangle Strategy too.
A few other fun stories make up episode 205. We've got three weeks of Sunday Specials coming. The next two weeks will be part 1 and 2 of the Final Fantasy IX OST, followed by a chat with Dalton of the Steam Machine Podcast. Lots of things to look forward to, thanks for listening.

Who saw this one coming? Not me for sure. This Nintendo Direct blew everyone away with huge JRPG announcements. Two in particular rose above the rest. After many months of speculation, the Chrono Cross Remaster rumor turned out to be true. It's coming in April to the delight of so many. The other blockbuster news was the reveal of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It's only just been announcement but is coming this September to the Switch.
But Nintendo wasn't done there. Earthbound, an all time JRPG classic is now available on Nintendo Switch Online along with Earthbound Beginnings. A Live a Live HD-2D remaster is coming to the west for first time and looks very good. Triangle Strategy is getting a new demo you can check out now and carry over your progress into the final game. It's hard to imagine a bigger or better showcase, we were blessed with this one.
We had plenty of other news to cover even before the Direct, which means a nice long podcast for your listening pleasure. In podcast news I'm going to make the switch (see what I did there) to Friday releases. Seems like the right thing to in the moment, after a few recent delays and missed news stories. It's not the first time I've moved days, and might not be the last. So look for new episodes each Friday and Sunday Specials about every two weeks (two a month). Thanks for your understanding!

We are thrilled to welcome back Jake to the podcast for this Sunday special. His last appearance was a year ago in our Cold Steel IV spoilercast. This chat won't be that long, but we'll have lots of fun. Topics include: what JRPGs are you looking forward most in 2022, games we are playing now, How big is the nostalgia factor when remembering games, and more.
For a while now on social media, Jake and myself have had a friendly Chrono Cross vs Trigger debate. Well the debate gets ugly today. Just kidding of course, but this platform did allow a back and forth conversation. One in which we understood each other's position and rational. Nothing was settled but it was great to talk about finally. We hope you enjoy this great JRPG conversation.

It's hard to believe FF VII rocked the JRPG world 25 years ago, but that's where we are. Feel old yet? I'm sure we all have a story or two about this game. One that continues to push boundaries and is more relavent that ever today with it's Remake. I'll share the producers thoughts on this milestone and the series moving forward.
Square Enix was busy this week in addition to FFVII happenings. We got a new translated trailer for Triangle Strategy and we will learn what the developers are thinking for FF XIV this month. There's a big sale on the PSN right now with select titles I'll go over. Plus some great stories to share. Thanks for listening as always.

We're about a month away from the western release of Monark, so NIS America has put out a demo for gamers to try. A game like this is perfect for a trial. You can check out the demo on Switch and PS4 today (sorry PC players) and see what you think.
Lots of great games coming soon (see my 22 for 22 video on YouTube for a list of them all) so the media is gearing up. We'll talk some Atelier Sophie 2 and Triangle Strategy on Episode 202. Additionally we cover Relayer, Neptunia Sisters vs Sisters, Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights, and Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 2. Thanks for waiting an additional day for this fun show!

*Do not listen to this podcast if you haven't beaten the game. We will talk about it all!*
I finally beat The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV a few weeks ago. So that means its spoilercast time! Jake waited patiently for us to talk and boy do we talk. So much so that we had to break it up into two parts. This episode covers everything after Eventide: Act 3, final dungeon, both endings, and what the final scenes mean overall and moving forward. If you have questions about all the insanity that went on, chances are we cover it.

It's time to celebrate a pretty cool milestone for the podcast. I'm humbled and honored to have recorded 200 episodes. We'll take a quick peek inside the numbers for the show then get onto the news of the week.
We've got updates for Rune Factory 5, Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream, Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Rise of the Third Power, Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters, and Final Fantasy XIV. I'll tell you about a very mature title from Idea Factory coming west titled Seven Pirates H. And there's a new animation from ufotable for Tales of Arise coming soon. More details coming soon too. To wrap up the podcast, I'll share an article from thegamer.net about the top 10 longest JRPGs. It's a fun trip down memory lane. So many hours poured into the genre we love!

I waited a day for extra content and this what I came up with. It was such a short week of news, but I wanted to pass along all these great games on sale. SO episode 199 is what it is. Hopefully more stories coming next week.
With both the E-Shop and PSN store having big holiday sales, I wanted to comb through and pick all the JRPGs out. Some great deals to be had. So increase your backlog today! There were a handful of news worthy stories floating out there, which make up the middle of the show. I wrap things up with a blog by Yoshinori Kitase. He dives into his producer role on Final Fantasy X and X-2. I recently began a replay of X so this was a fun read. Hope you enjoy it too.

Warning: The second half of this podcast contains massive spoilers do not listen if you have not beaten the game. However the first half, or 45 minutes, is largely spoiler free discussion of this amazing JRPG. We'll discuss everything we loved, and nitpick all the things we didn't. As two long time Tales fans, we weren't on board with all the changes. But the game shines in most departments. We'll talk about almost everything the game has to offer fans both new and old.

Let's wrap up 2021 with a bow. Presenting the JRPG of the Year for 2021 and look ahead to all the confirmed releases for 2022. What a year for our genre it was!
First some news: Relayer has a worldwide release date now. It was the original goal for the developers and they'll achieve the goal on March 24, 2022. Dragon Quest X Offline has been delayed to summer in Japan. Does this increase the small chance we will get it in the west? We have a small update on Final Fantasy XVI. In the fact new news is coming in the spring. It was reported development is currently 6 months behind schedule due to corona virus. Let's hope spring brings good news!
After a few more short stories, lets talk game of the year. So many great JRPGs were released in 2021 it was hard to choose a winner. I'll go over all the major titles and short list of nominees. The thumbnail gives a hint as to the winner. To wrap up the show, I'll go over every confirmed 2022 title and a few maybes. While not as strong as 2021, next year has plenty of promise! Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all! Its the eve of Christmas Eve show with lots of little stories to pass along to you. FF 6 getting a release window leads the show, slipping from 2021 to February 2022. I'll let you know an exact date when announced. For now you can preorder on Steam and receive some cool bonuses.
We've got two stories about upcoming Neptunia games, lots of FFVII Remake topics, and a topic I'd never thought I would mention: gaming cookbooks. I hope you enjoy this week's show and have a great holiday season!

A game I've been looking forward to for a few years now is Granblue Fantasy Relink. Well it's finally resurfaced along with some new details, including a worldwide 2022 release window. I'll share everything we learned at last weeks livestream.
Lots of other JRPG news tidbits. We'll cover all these games and more this week: Sea of Stars, Pokemon Legends Arceus, Scarlet Nexus, FF VII Remake, Death End Request 2, Crystar, Atelier Sophie 2, and Edge of Eternity. And at the very end some breaking news from Falcom, which gives me another chance to rant against NIS America. Good stuff!

So we waited an extra day for news out of the Video Game Awards. And got a few stories including our lead of Final Fantasy VII Remake finally arriving on PC via the Epic Games Store. But Chrono Cross Remaster was no where to be seen. Seems the rumors will have to wait for now. The added news made for a jam packed show however!
We've got new trailers from Atelier Sophie 2 and Monark as well as Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. Lots of info for the Bravely Default mobile game which looks like a worthy addition to the series. No surprisingly Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl have sold like crazy. Plus lots of other great stories to cover, thanks for listening and waiting.

We've been hearing rumors of this for months: a remaster of Chrono Cross is in the works. What's the evidence for this and is it real? I'll discuss what facts we do know and speculate when this might happen, if it all.
It was a light news week, hence the dive into internet rumors. In actual news we have some first details about last week's lead, Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters. It sounds like a worthy spin off to the Neptunia series. More characters details have surfaced for Atelier Sophie 2 so I'll share them. At the end I'll go over some more details about what's coming for the podcast in 2022 and how subscriptions are going to work. Nothing is changing far as every week content. But if you want more and want to support the JRPG Report, subs and Patreon will allow you to do so. It will be a fun ride I promise.

Something to be thankful for: a new podcast and a new Neptunia game is coming next year. Announced for 2022, Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs Sisters is an action rpg featuring girls old and new. I'll give what little info we have about the game from Compile Heart.
It's the day before Thanksgiving here, but we still had plenty to talk about even on a short week. Two new trailers dropped for Atelier Sophie 2 featuring the two main characters: Sophie and Plachta. An 8 eight trailer for Relayer came out today, all about the giant robots you'll be piloting in early 2022. A ton of screenshots for Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness came out this week as well as some info about the game. Check the links below to see them all.
I'm really excited for the new mobile entry in the Bravely series (yes I know that's a dangerous game of hope to play). It's not gacha and features new and old characters alike. A full Bravely experience in the palm of your hand could be amazing if done correctly. I'll share what we know so far. I talk about a few more games and the results of the Tales of poll, including who fans like the most and best mascot. Back to Thursday next week!

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream had a recent livestream in Japan, where new a character was revealed, along with more information. We have some details about its weather system, as well as the various limited editions that will be available in February. Check out some new images and over 20 minutes of Japanese gameplay on the YouTube channel.
Here are some of the other games we talk about on this week's podcast: Monster Hunter Rise, Moon, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, Rune Factory 5, Disgaea RPG and Fantasy Life Online. Coming next month is Granblue Fantasy Winter Fest which has set aside nearly 40 minutes for new information on Granblue Fantasy Versus and Relink. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get a firm release date and confirm the game development is going smoothly.
Wednesday show coming next week too before the Thanksgiving holiday.

A major release gets the slightest of delays as Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker has been pushed back two backs to December 7, 2021. Various reasons were cited and I'll read some of Yoshi P's comments. Overall its a good thing as no one wants to mess up the biggest expansion in the game's long history.
We didn't have a ton of things talk about this week. Game covered include Star Ocean: Divine Force, Atelier Sophie 2, the trio of new Pokemon games, and Tales of Lumunaria. I give my initial impressions of the mobile game and cover it's first update. We have some very interesting news from Falcom to discuss. You won't want to miss it and why I think it's the first step towards fixing it's western localizations problems. Next two weeks will be Wednesday releases!

Its a light week so only a few stories to share on this episode. We start with some release dates including The Cruel King and the Great Hero coming west in March 2022. Also making the trip across the oceans is Maglam Lord, a title we weren't sure was coming or not.
Tales of Luminaria releases today but had a slight delay to November 5th so I'll give my impressions next week. I talk a little about the recent partnership between Sega and Microsoft and what it might mean moving forward. In the end I'll give my final thoughts on Tales of Arise since I finally beat the game. Did my opinion change from the beginning? How does it rank against other Tales games? Is it JRPG of 2021? Stick around to the very end to find out!

In a completely unexpected and welcome annoucement, Star Ocean is back! And coming next year to all platforms (sorry Switch.) During the most recent State of Play, the series I thought was dead, made a splash and left quite the impression. I'll detail everything we know as well as my impressions from the trailer.
Of course that wasn't the only news of the week. We have stories about Tales of Luminaria's release date, a new trailer for Triangle Strategy, lots of Tales news, the Blue Reflection 2nd Light demo, Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster release date, and the departure from Atlus of its main music composer. Plus lots more!

I'm back after a pleasant vacation and a not so pleasant trip to the dentist. A day late but never a dollar short here's your new podcast for the week. In this episode we have news for Monark's western release date and details about Atelier Sophie 2's new characters. Lots of Final Fantasy news with FF XIV's upcoming Endwalker expansion and a possible FFIV The After Years remaster? Some other fun stories in here too for Rune Factory 5, a new Neptunia game, and Monster Hunter sales milestones. Check out the video version on this podcast on Spotify and YouTube!

It's that time of year! When I take a much needed vacation and leave you all with a mailbag show. Only a few submissions this time but they were excellent questions. To fill some time at the end, I wanted to talk about the future of the podcast. Some exciting changes and developments are coming. Nothing is changing about this weekly audio version. But we want to create new content, including video, forums, and additional special episodes. All with you, the humble listener, at the center. I'll speak more in a few weeks when the first big development unfolds!

We were right this time. Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream will launch Feb 24 in Japan and the next day worldwide for PS4, PC, and Switch. I give all the details and wrap up our coverage of Tokyo Game Show 2021.
At the end of the podcast I'll share an interview with Sophie's director on the influences of this game, why she got a sequel, and the Ryza effect on the game. Also covered in this show: Relayer, Sin Chronicle, Blue Reflection Second Light, and the 20th Anniversary of Kingdom Hearts, with all titles coming to Switch soon via the Cloud. I share a few others headlines and outline the podcast release schedule with me on vacation next week. But fear not we have a fun mailbag show to hold you over until I return! I'm off to JRPG Island!

Oh man what a big show at just over an hour and packed full of JRPG goodies, news, and shenanigans. Not much in the way of surprised this year, but we did get new information and a ton of release dates.
At the end I'll outline what's happening the next few weeks. We've got the mailbag show coming up while I'm on vacation so think of some questions or submit them now to the email below. I tell you why I'm actually excited about Tales of Luminaria and all the Huge in Japan sale going on now on the PSN store.

What's your favorite Persona game? Atlus is celebrating 25 years of memories over the next few months. It's begun now with a special website launched along with merchandise and hopefully a new game. I'll go over what we know so far.
Seems like every major franchise is celebrating an anniversary lately. The Atelier series is also celebrating 25 years in May of next year with 6 new announcements, not all necessarily games. The first is coming in a week at TGS, more than likely Atelier Sophie 2.
Not a ton to talk about the week before TGS. Final Fantasy XIV released news and a new trailer ahead of its Endwalker expansion. Monster Hunter Rise will allow you change your mount into Rush from Mega Man soon! We go over the last of the lineup news before the show. Keep in mind next week's podcast will be on Friday to better cover the start of Tokyo Game Show 2021. Looking forward to a great event!

It's a jam packed and nearly hour long show this week full of information, rumors, and opinions. The latter two reserved for the end. Here's some of the game news we have: The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki, Tales of Arise and Monark. I'll give my thoughts on the opening hours of Arise, and wrap up the podcast with my thoughts on its DLC. We do have one rumor early in show: what Koei Tecmo's mystery title at TGS maybe, according to a new game register.
More Tokyo Game Show 2021 details and lineups have emerged, including Square Enix and Bandai Namco. Two cool features in particular are a part of the new system updates for Switch and PS5. I give my reaction to the games shown at the recent Playstation Showcase (sadly no JRPGs). And let's talk about the NVIDIA database leak. So many games on the list, I'll mention them all but focus on the ones that matter most to us, in particular Chrono Cross Remaster.

It's the perfect combination of short news week, and hectic personal week. That equals short podcast. The big news of the week is obviously the launch of Tales of Arise tomorrow. Will it live up to the hype?
There were a few stories to cover including a western release for Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars on October 26 in North America. I wasn't 100% sure we'd even get this game, let alone 6 weeks after its Japanese release. We've got a few mobile JRPG's to talk about, and there was a new trailer for SMT V. Disgaea celebrates 5 million games sold with a sale on its games so don't miss that. Not a ton else but there will just be weeks like this sometimes. Thanks for listening as always my friends.

Less than a month until TGS 2021, we have the outline of events for the show. I'll go down the list, highlight the big moments, and speculate what we might see. Always the highlight of the JRPG year, let's hope for a great event!
We've got news from SMT V about its characters and systems. Demon Gaze EXTRA has a release date, and surprise it's a worldwide one. Final Fantasy titles are coming to Playstation Now as FF XIII hits Xbox Gamepass. I've got first details about a new game coming to PC in Q1 2022: Rise of the Third Power. The retro looking title is another love letter to SNES JRPG's and looks very interesting.
Curious what exactly is in Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1? I read a great article from Siliconera all about the two PS2 classics included. Lastly I have two interviews with the teams behind Tales of Luminaria and the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters. Leave us a 5 star review on Apple and I'll read it on an upcoming podcast! In a shocking move, Koei Tecmo has announced its bringing the remasters of Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX to Switch, PC, and iOS worldwide December 9, 2021. After a year of wondering, longtime fans can celebrate the series 25th anniversary with both games this year. I'll let you know everything we learned today, including how you can turn cd's into monsters now.
Gamescom is still going on, but really nothing JRPG related was announced. The biggest highlight was Lindsey Stirling's live performance of the Tales of Arise theme, which you can view on our YouTube channel. We had a few other Tales stories, but stick around to the end for my take on the demo after playing it last night.
Lots of trailers this week so you want to check them out or wait until our video podcast. I talk about Astria Ascending a bit, Rune Factory as it celebrates 25 years, what Tales of Luminaria really is, and a few figures you might want to save your paycheck for soon. Thanks for listening as always (sorry my throat was a bit dry today).

It's not a question we have that often to consider. In the case of Tales of Arise, its one I've went back and forth on several times. As new information and opinions have come out out, I've changed my mind too. So I'll tell you everything I know now that the demo has been released for consoles (sorry PC). Check back next week to see what I do! Only 22 more days until we get the full game.
In other news Pokemon Presents happened giving fans new info and trailers for Pokémon Legends Arceus as well as Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. Check the new trailers out on our YouTube channel as I let you know the new info that was released. Shin Megami Tensei V had a news broadcast as well this week. Some new characters were revealed, you can see them in the trailer too. Plus a few other fun stories this week, making a fun albeit shorter podcast. Thank for listening!

As with all rumors this one could be false. But it makes sense and has some ground to stand on. I'll report why I think this is true and why I want it to be true as a huge Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fan. I hope we get confirmation of the game at TGS next month.
In non rumor news Tales of Arise is getting a demo on August 18. Consoles gamers (sorry PC) will get a short preview of the game although save data will not carry over. At the end of the podcast I'll read Siliconera's preview of the first few hours of the game. This may indeed be the same portion of the game the demo covers.
SMT V got a new trailer last night as well as a few other games, so you'll want to check our Youtube page for all the new videos of the week. There you will find a gameplay video for 35 minutes of Blue Reflection Second Light. Thanks for listening as always!

It's hard to believe huh? Feels like much less time than that. There was a recent interview with some of the key members of the development team, so I'll share of the interesting tidbits from that conversation.
We have news from Tales of Arise, SMT V, Blue Reflection 2nd Light, and others. News is getting a bit lighter in the lead up to Gamecon and Tokyo Game Show. Stick around to the end for a listener review from Jake for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wing of Ruin. If you're on the fence about this game, perhaps his review will help you out.
Lastly if you were wondering about our nightly livestreams, they will return for sure with Tales of Arise. I finished up Remake and Intermission and can't decide on a next game. Maybe FF XIV to pass the time? Until I decide for sure, I'm taking a break and having fun with Genshin Impact. I'll let you know what I decide next week!

The train is picking up steam as we get closer to September 10th! With the release of a new trailer and livestream, the Tales of Arise hype is only growing. I'll talk a bit about the new fishing activity and owl collecting. The next huge JRPG experience is only 6 weeks away!
Idea Factory International gave us three windows release windows for upcoming games: Mary Skelter Finale, Death End Request 2 for Switch and the newly named Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars. We have a surprise western release date for Blue Reflection Second Light as well: it's coming November 9. A super fast turn around for a game releasing in October in Japan. The second half of 2021 is JRPG heavy (our poor wallets).
It's a super episode this week but I hope you loved it. Thanks as always for listening!

What a title right? It's Wednesday so that can only mean I'm gonna be out of town Thursday. So I wanted to have a little fun with the title. And Walter will show up in the podcast about halfway through.
No headliners or release dates to mention, plus I'm in a bit of a rush to get out the door. Games we cover in this show: FF XIV, Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki, Disgaea, Blue Reflection Second Light, Tales of Arise, SMT V, and the future of Atlus and Dragon Quest. At the end I mention a few games on sale on the PSN store too. Back to normal next week. Thanks for listening!

It's a good question and one will we have an answer for starting in September. Atlus will have a year long, 25th Anniversary celebration of Persona, with 7 planned announcements from September 2021 to Fall 2022. So what will they announce? I'll speculate what I think may come.
We have a new trailer for Tales of Arise and Shin Megami Tensei V, along with many more you can see on our YouTube page. The Caligula Effect 2 got a fall release date of October 19 in the west, along with a new English gameplay trailer. The Cruel King and Great Hero is the official title when it heads west in early 2022. It was formally referred to as the The Wicked King and Noble Hero.
We talk a lot of Final Fantasy in todays podcast. FF XVI, Remake, and even the remote possibility of FF X-3. Stick around until the end for that story. Next week's podcast will release on Wednesday as I'll be out of town on Thursday for an end of summer short trip. Thanks for listening friends!

Announced back in March, teased a few days ago, and revealed this week. Gust has shown off Blue Reflection Second Light, coming to Switch and PS4 in Japan this October. There's a debut trailer, images, and details to go over on today's podcast.
The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki shared new images and details about Fie and Zin today, as well as a new (at least to me) character. Let's hope we get this game before 2024! Tales of had a livestream featuring the newest animated opening for Tales of Arise. Don't worry fans they didn't change this tradition. There's also a blu ray full of all the opening for Tales games coming in December....for $65!
We got a few other trailers and stories to talk about. I'll give an update on my moving plans, how great my PS5 is, and a small bit about some future brand plans. Like last week's rant? NIS America makes a second rant appearance this week, plus I share my feelings on the new Switch model. Thanks for listening!

Hey gang we are back for another week of fun stories. So in short everything last week was true! I won't repeat the news so check last week's show to learn all about the Trails localizations. Although I do rant at the end about the crazy amount of time needed. Stick around for that fun! Let's talk about the FF Pixel Remasters coming July 28 with the first three games. I'll detail everything we know so far. We talk a bit of Tales at the end, mobile JRPG news in the end, and the biggest news of the week at the beginning: I got a PS5 today! Gamestop is shipping it hopefully tomorrow. So I'll share the easiest way (but most expensive unless you want to pay a scalper) to finally land your new system. Thanks for listening my friends!

Well so much for a slow week. Post E3 week was anything but quiet. We lead today's show with a leak and rumor, however I feel it's very legit. NIS America will be bringing 4 Legend of Heroes games to the west in 2022 and 2023. This leak comes from the Epic Games Store and there are still listings to prove this. Tonight's livestream of Falcom's 40th anniversary will either prove or disprove it all. Listen for all the details but in short Hajimari no Keseki is now Trails into Reverie and will come to the west in 2023. They will also finally be bringing the Crossbell games to the west as well as the Trails offshoot, The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails. Full details next week on if this was all true or not.
We also have videos and stories on Tales of Arise, Shin Megami Tensei V, Scarlet Nexus, Legend of Mana, NEO: The World Ends with You, and so much more. Super exciting news to share all around but I end the show on a bit of a low story: FF9 is getting an animated kids show? Listen til the end and I'll see you next week. Thanks for listening!

E3 2021 has come and gone and overall it was a decent show. JRPG news is never guaranteed at the event but we have some big stories to talk about. The major headline came at the end during Nintendo's portion: Shim Megami Tensei V is coming November 12 to Switch. Atlus showed off a new trailer and finally revealed gameplay for its original franchise. 25 minutes of it. I'll give all the details we know so far.
Tales of Arise started the fun before E3 at the Summer Game Show with a new trailer and introduced two new characters, bringing the party to 6. After E3, media outlets showed the game in extended forms so we know all about the combat and exploration. The hype level for this game is getting crazy high!
The show had some other games to feature: Eiyuden Chronicles, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Rune Factory 5, Astria Ascending, and the surprise of the show for me: Sacrifire. Here me talk about them all in this info packed episode. Thanks for listening!

Late last night under cover of darkness, Monark was revealed to the world. In a new trailer we see the upcoming JRPG from former Atlus employees that worked on SMT. It will release on October 14 in Japan and the west in 2022. Being the week before E3 I was glad to have something to talk about! We got a super hype filled new trailer for Kuro no Keseki featuring some familiar faces. Check our YouTube channel for both new trailers. Speaking of YouTube I hit 1000 subscribers yesterday so thank you so much for your support. Hopefully big things are coming in the future for this brand. I'm thankful you are a part of it. This is always one of our shortest podcasts of the year. We should have lots of excited things to talk about next week!

After a week "off" I'm back to tell you all about the stories you may have missed. We got a great look at Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin in its third trailer. Most importantly I learned it has a turn based battle system in addition to its awesome anime look. We also got a good look at the combat for Scarlet Nexus in two new videos. Its shaping up to be a big summer JRPG hit. Both those stories plus many smaller ones in this packed episode. Thanks for listening!!

I'm out of the office this week, enjoying a brief anniversary trip. So Dalton and myself recorded a fun conversation about the state of PC gaming in regards to JRPGs. We focus on Edge of Eternity, a promising JRPG that's been in early access for years but releasing in full in June and later this year for consoles. He's played the game for a few hours and will give his impressions. We also chat about his obcession with the Neptunia series and the upcoming ninja crossover action rpg game. Of course I take the chance to cry about Persona 4 Golden being on PC and not PS4 and Switch. I hope you enjoy this fun show and I'll be back with the news next week!

In a stunning announcement, Bandai Namco revealed Tales of Arise is indeed coming this year, on September 10th worldwide in fact. I was fully prepared to wait until next year, but we will have an amazing looking JRPG experience in our hands in a few months. I break down everything we learned from the trailers and gameplay, most I love but one thing I don't. Over 20 minutes of Tales fandom overflowing hype.
But that's not all we have. News about the Y's IX PC and Switch western release, today's release of NieR Replicant and the Atelier Mysterious Trilogy, and a new mobile game from the Fairy Tale creator. Plus much much more. Next week I'll be out of town but l hope you will enjoy a JRPG conversation between Dalton and myself. I'll catch up on all the news in two weeks!

A recent interview with Final Fantasy VII Remake co director Tetsuya Nomura shed some light on the future of DLC for the game. I'll go over his statements and let you know what I think it means going forward. He also gave many details about Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. I'll let you know everything he said and what it means. I also started Dragon Quest II on Switch this week. Is it just a mobile port or a faithful recreation of the original? I have a few other fun stories to discuss that I hope you enjoy. Thanks for listening!

Falcom had a big celebration for its 40th anniversary. During the livestream they showed off The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki to the world. Two videos detailed the battle systems, which you can switch between freely, the characters, and the city Edith. I'll explain everything we know about this amazing looking and playing game. Tales of Festival showed Tales of Arise in video form as well, but we didn't see anything new. Nor did we learn much except more information is coming in the spring. Those two big stories dominate the podcast this week but I have some other fun things to discuss. Thanks for listening each and every week!

As promised here is another podcast (a very short one) covering all the news and events from yesterday's New Game Plus Expo. The big news of the day was Disgaea 6 and its June western release date. We finally have confirmation of Cold Steel IV's PC release date as well. A new other release date were announced but overall it was an average show. Most sadly was the lack of any Hajimari no Kiseki news...

The latest Nintendo Direct managed to both impress and disappoint at the same time. There were a ton of games crammed into the nearly hour long presentation, some we haven't seen before. But it was the absence of Shin Megami Tensei V that left fans scratching their heads, including ours. We break down every JRPG shown and even give some thoughts on the other games. Plus all the other news of the week in this huge over an hour podcast. Many thank to Dalton for dropping by. Catch me on his podcast, The Steam Machine Podcast, this weekend for our thoughts on Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.

This week saw the reveal of the newest expansion to the Final Fantasy XIV universe: Endwalker. It also showed the future with a revamped version coming to PS5. The game continues to evolve with the times and has a bright future ahead. We have a date for this year's New Game Plus Expo: March 4. Expect some JRPG news to come from this event. Hopefully. A few other stories, I talk hype about Persona 5 Strikers and Bravely Default II, and the Big in Japan Sale is underway on PSN. In late breaking news, Kingdom Hearts is coming to PC! All the games will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store in March.

Speaking of which Ryza 2 continues to amaze. Check out our nightly livestreams via the Youtube channel. You'll want to check out all the week's trailers there and subscribe so you don't miss any. We've got news of new jobs in Bravely Default II before its release at the end of February. This week saw the big release of Y's IX: Monstrum Nox so I hope you are all enjoying it.
This episode covers all the basics, the beginning, up to the Eventide event. Part 2 comes next week with everything else.

No seriously what is it? I attempt to answer as best I can with limited information. It's a light news week but we have some fun this episode. First off I'm sorry for the first 10 minutes or so of audio. I didn't notice until it was too late. Second we have new info for Disgaea 6, new demo and mobile releases, and a new expensive NeiR bring arts figure you can't afford. Lastly we have an awesome listener review from Dalton. You won't want to miss it or his custom ending. Thanks for listening!

It the last day of 2020 so let's talk about the JRPG of the Year! In my mind there are only two choices: Trails of Cold Steel IV and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Jordan and I discuss which one is deserving of the title. In other news there was no news to discuss! So we look forward to the most anticipated titles of 2021. Spoiler: it's going to be an amazing year!

It was quite a week in the JRPG world! First we got a huge announcement about the new Legend of Heroes title. Called Trails of Black its an all new entry in the series. I'll give you every bit of info we have. Second we have a 2022 release window for Granblue Fantasy Relink along with 23 minutes of new gameplay footage. The new release window is a bummer but not unexpected. And we got a whole lot of non news for Tales of Arise. New info is promised for 2021 but that's all we learned from the Tales live stream. Lots of other cool things happened making for a great show. Merry Christmas we may or may not be back with a new show next week. Check our social media for an update.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Time is at a premium this year so I hid from my family and recorded the podcast on turkey day. We took off last week so its a jam packed show today. New trailers, images, and news galore. Listen in for stories about Disgaea 6, Atelier Ryza 2, Black Friday deals, and the possible English listing for Persona 5 Scramble! We'll be back next week with a regular show and check out our Sunday Special this weekend for the soundtrack of Trails of Cold Steel IV. Thanks for listening and dont eat too much!

I was this close to calling off this week's show. Until 2 days ago, there simply wasn't enough news to record. But here we are and it's a fun one. Sega and Falcom released some plans for 2021 so we'll talk about them and what it means beyond next year. Atelier Ryza 2 had some good bits of info as well. Of course next gen systems from Playstation and Xbox hit this week, but we're a JRPG podcast so not much to speak of yet with them. Lots of other fun topics and games discussed as well. Thanks for listening!

A bit of a light week of gaming news. Luckily Bravely Default II followed up its release date news from last week with a wealth of info this week. I give all the details on the main characters, the world, and the job and game systems. I'll direct you to our YouTube channel for many trailers this week for upcoming games. Plus a few more fun things to talk about. And my rant on why Cold Steel IV should NOT be you first Trails game. Thanks for listening!

Its a great week to be a JRPG gamer. Not only did we finally get Trails of Cold Steel IV, but we have some fun news to talk about. Bravely Default II got a release date of February 26, 2021, a slight delay from its 2020 goal. Cold Steel IV's digital release was all screwed up so we'll talk about it. My experience has be awesome so far! Final Fantasy XVI dropped a new website so I'll detail the characters and world of the game. Plus much more! Thanks for listening each week friends.

With The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV just a few days away, Jake and myself talk all about the series and this great upcoming game. We've both waited many long years for the End of Sage. Hype train level maxed out! The first half is spoiler free, but steer clear of the second half if you have not played all the games leading up to Cold Steel IV. We hope you enjoy our chat as we had so much fun recording it. Thanks for listening!!

Just 5 days until the epic End of Sage for the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV hits PS4 owner's hands in the US. The wait has been forever for this end of a huge story arc. So I hype it up one last time! I'll give a full report next week. It seems the delay for US owners of the collector's edition won't happen now (sorry Europe), so all is well here. We had some new images and info about Disgaea 6, physical copies of classic Final Fantasy titles, and there won't be a physical version of PS5 Atelier Ryza 2. I rant about that last story and its implications at the end of the show. Thanks so much for listening!

It's good to be back! After a week away on vacation I'm so happy to bring you all the news in the JRPG world. Just today we learned about Atelier Ryza 2's western release date of January 26, 2021 in North America and January 29, 2021 in Europe. We talk about it and the new images released. I gush about my experience playing Genshin Impact while waiting for Trails of Cold Steel IV. Which I'll have to wait a bit longer for my collector's edition now too. So much to catch up on from the past two weeks! I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoy bringing you the news. See you again next week.

TGS 2020 has come and gone. It was an awesome show this year even with being 100% online. We had tons of great new trailers to view and fun presentations. No big announcements but I didn't expect any either. Atelier Ryza 2 has announced a PS5 version in addition to PS4 and Switch. And owners of the PS4 version can upgrade for free to the PS5 version. We saw the first gameplay for Disgaea 6, leaving some online very displeased. The switch to 3D has some worried to say the least. Lots of other fun stories from TGS too. Dalton gives us his review for Persona 4: Golden at the end. He'll be back Sunday for a fun conversation!

It's one of the, if not the, biggest JRPG gaming weeks of the year. TGS 2020 kicked off today so I'll bring you all the news from day 1 as well as any news that broke in the past week. We new info and trailers for both Nier titles coming out including the release dates. Disgaea 6 images and info broke before the show started. And we have first trailer for Go! Go! 5 Jigen Game Neptune: re★Verse, more than likely the first JRPG for the PS5. Plus all the pre TGS news, all the big JRPG's on the Big in Japan Sale on PSN, and Jordan's review of The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki. So exciting to be a gamer right now. Special TGS 2020 Part 2 podcast coming this week!

Let's welcome back my friend Jordan to the podcast! This week we dive deep into the Final Fantasy XVI debut trailer. What did we like and what did we not? FF VII Remake pops up so we talk about what the reveal of FF XVI means to it, when each may come out, and other fun stuff. After the break we talk all things Legend of Heroes: the series past, how to play the games, and why it's such an important JRPG series. We hope you enjoy our hour or so chat!

The Playstation 5 dropped two bombs yesterday during its Showcase. Lastly was the price and release date. But they opened the show with Final Fantasy XVI, confirming its existence with a 4 minute trailer. Hear all my thoughts good and bad about this PS5 exclusive game. The next day during the Nintendo Direct Mini, we were treated with the reveal of Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny. I'll give you all the details we know so far about this game. We were then treated to two new Monster Hunter titles for the Switch as well as Rune Factory 5. All that in just the first half of the show! It's been a busy past 24 hours to say the least. The second half is full of great stories too. And I started playing a game last night that truly blurs the line of what a JRPG is or isnt. Thanks for listening. TGS is next week!

With less than two weeks until Tokyo Game Show 2020, the news is light this week. As it will be next week I'd guess. So we lead with details about Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory. I know its not a JRPG but it is a shoot off of a super popular one. And like I said there isn't a ton to talk about. We did learn a bit about the upcoming 20th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts in 2022 and the series future plans. I talk about a few other small stories and have a great listener review from Michael for Banner of the Maid. Thanks for listening! No Sunday Special this week sorry.

We chat of course about this game and its creation, but also his inspirations in making a JRPG for the first time. It's a fun interview and we hope you enjoy it. Europe's biggest gaming conference has come and gone. I'll go over all the announcement, release dates, news, and trailers from Gamescom 2020. We finally have a western release date for Y's IX: Monstrum Nox to look forward to. Genshin Impact will launch for PS4 alongside PC and mobile devices at the end of September. Kingdom Hearts showed gameplay and announced a release date for Melody of Memory. And Scarlet Nexus debuted new characters along with tons of gameplay. Then we still have news from Atelier Ryza 2, Eiyuden Chronicles final Kickstarter numbers, and much more to cover. Thanks for listening and waiting until our new day for release of Thursday.

In a recent issue of Weekly Famitsu, Falcom President Kindo talked about post launch updates for Hajimari no Kiseki as well as the next game in the series. We knew it wouldn't be a sequel and there wasn't much information to go on. However changes seem to be coming to the Legend of Heroes games. Hear what they are as well as my initial thoughts. We have a next to last update for Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes and its Kickstarter. As well as some other fun stories in a short podcast. Just not a ton of news this week. Thanks for listening!

Time for your weekly JRPG news podcast! Episode 128 is full of release dates, info, and new videos (well telling you there are new videos). We start with the release date for Genshin Impact for PC, iOS, and Android. It's September 28 with PS4 following in the fall. Complile Heart celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Neptunia series with the announcement of their first PS5 title, Go! Go! 5 Jigen Game Neptune: re★Verse. We may get a slightly different name in the west. More stories about Hajimari no Kiseki, the next Trails game, and our weekly Eiyuden Chronicles Kickstarter update. I even learned how to say it: Ay-you-den. Plus much more. Finally we end with our first listener review. This reoccurring series will hopefully give all you fans a voice in the show and chance to talk about the games we love. First up is Jake with his review of Fairy Tale. If you have a recent JRPG you want to review, send the transcript, audio, or video to me at one of the ways below. Thanks for listening!

Another week of fun news stories from the JRPG world. We start with the Japanese release date for Atelier Ryza and its potential worldwide release. We've got some Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki updates and interview with Falcom President Kondo. It wouldn't be a podcast this month without an Eiyuden Chronicles Kickstarter update too. Let's play catchup on some news stories. No big headlines so it's the perfect time. We start with how Eiyuden Chronicles' Kickstarter campaign is going. Spoiler alert it's going well. Some stories about Atelier Ryza 2, more images from Shin Megami Tetsui III and Hajimari No Kiseki too. And a bunch of smaller stories I've wanted to cover for a week now. Thank you for your patience and understanding with no Sunday podcast this past week. I've got a good developer interview one planned for this week. Thanks as always for listening each week!

A day late but I hope that's ok with you all. Took a personal day with the family but here is the new podcast. Lots to talk about including new Ryza 2 details, an update on Eiyuden Chronicles Kickstarter fund raising, and the probable confirmation of Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers coming to the west. Finally. We have so much to cover I'm doing another show Saturday to tell you about the rest. Lots of JRPG news to cover so let's rock!

What is Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes? Well you may not know the name but you will quickly recognize the games its creators have worked on in the past. Comprised of many Suikoden developers, Rabbit and Bear Studios are working on a new, heavily Suikoden inspired game. I've got all the info to pass along to you on this special podcast. No Sunday Special this week cause I couldn't wait to let you all know about it. Plus I'm super excited for it. We have the newly announced Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis and Dragon Quest XI port to Xbox to talk about as well. Plus a great sale on the PSN Store. Sit back and enjoy the show!

The Nintendo Direct Mini was a huge source of JRPG news this week. The previously unannounced sequel Atelier Ryza made it debut. Fans can hopefully get this game this winter. And we saw Shin Megami Tetsui V for the first time in years it seems. Atlus plans a worldwide launch for fans in 2021. Many more awesome announcements and trailers came out this past week making for an incredible podcast. Enjoy and as always thanks for listening!

Without checking past episodes, I'd say this is the shortest one yet. I had planned to include the third interview in this series, but it yet to be made public. These were via the Final Fantasy Portal Site. The first interview is with Kazuhiko Aoki, who handled event design and scenarios for FFIX. The second interview is with Toshiyuki Itahana, whose responsibilities for FFIX included character design and game art. Here is the link: https://na.finalfantasy.com/topics/191. Thanks for listening and celebrating the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX with me.

We had plenty of news stories, but I wanted to do something fun this week. So in addition of all the news in the JRPG world, I'll give my updated Top 10 JRPGs of all time. I'm hope you will enjoy the list and agree with at least some of them. In the news, Tales of Crestoria made a surprise appearance and we got an awesome new trailer for Trails of Cold Steel IV. It's a busy week on the podcast. Nothing too juicy or in depth but a lot of fun. I've been playing the Genshin Impact closed beta for about 10 hours so want to give my initial impressions. Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris releases in a few days and there were 3 new trailers released for it. To end the podcast I give a Royal rant over Persona 5. You'll have to listen to see what about. Plus all the news of the week. Thanks for listening!

Sad news that broke last week leads the podcast. Most saw a delay coming for Tales of Arise. It has been pushed back outside of 2020. But it's not all sad news this week. We have some fun stories about Final Fantasy XIV, Trails games, and plenty of new trailers. All the week's JRPG stories in one place: The JRPG Report. Thanks for listening friends!

Sunday Specials were made for this: two JRPG lovers talking about some the recent games we've played. Jordan and myself hope you enjoy this fun hour and a half chat. We start off with the bad news of Tales of Arise's delay then switch in some Trails talk of Cold Steel and Sky. The second half is dedicated to the debate between Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. Finally we dont hold anything back with our discussion of Final Fantasy VII Remake. The beginning is general talk and then you'll have an opportunity to stop listening. The last part of the podcast is spoiler central. Thanks for listening friends!

The New Game + Expo did not disappoint. For a new event, it was full of trailers and announcements. The most important one to myself was the release date for Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel IV. It will come to the west on October 27, 2020. The Switch and PC versions come in 2021. We also finally confirmed Y's IX is coming to the west. So many trailers and announcements to cover. Thanks for listening!

I thought it would be a fun time to look back at the year at its midpoint. We've had so many great games already with more to come. So i'll dive into my top 10 most anticipated titles for 2020. We'll talk about the ones the already came out, got delayed, and ones that may not come out this year at all. Plus I have some listeners favorites too. Finally we'll list every JRPG yet to come out this year. We may well look back at 2020 as one of if not the best JRPG year ever. Thanks for listening!

The rumor was indeed true. Persona 4 Golden is now on PC via Steam. And for a great price of $19.99. It quickly became the most played JRPG on its servers. We also have several Pokemon stories from its livestream today and Kingdom Hearts showed a 2020 video with a brand new game. Cris Tales finally gave us a release date of November 17 along with a budget friendly price of $39.99. Plus many more news stories! It's a full week on Episode 118. Thanks for listening!

Sources have revealed that the beloved Vita JRPG Persona 4 Golden will be coming to PC on June 13. It's planned to be announced at the PC Gaming Show, in which Atlus said they had a big announcement. Shocking would be more accurate. Follow up report coming this weekend. As well as any news on the JRPG front from today's PS5 reveal showcase. We've got stories about Neptunia Virtual Stars, Mary Skelter Finale, and big sales on the Nintendo E-shop. Plus I clarify my early take on Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition. We're a day later than usual cause of work and life, but I hope you love this episode. It's a great time to be a gamer!

After talking about VVVtunia for a few months and even its recent delay, we get word of its western release date. And name change. It will be called Neptunia Virtual Stars in the west and be available in 2021. Also in case you were curious we did an extra news podcast this weekend since there were plenty of things to chat about. Including Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning getting a surprise remaster, dlc for Fell Seal, and Tales of Crestoria being delayed. Thanks so much for listening! We'll be back on Wednesday with more great stories.

Perhaps in an effort to make Jordan and I look silly, Monolith Soft released a few tidbits of last minute news about Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition. Nothing shocking but would have been nice to include in the Sunday Special. In just two days the world will be in Switch JRPG heaven once again. In other news there's a rumor about a Disney + Kingdom Hearts show, Dragon Quest announced 3 Adventure of Dai games, and The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki adds VR support? It's an odd week to say the least. Throw in two Tales of Crestoria trailers and you have the makings of Episode 114 of the JRPG Report! The Nintendo Switch JRPG community is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition to arrive on Friday May 29. We we preview the game and highlight some of the key differences. Jordan played the original back on the Wii so he'll give his insight into why the game was so great in the first place. First we chat about our shared love of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, then look ahead to the remaster of part 1. For bonus, Jordan and I look ahead to what's next in the franchise and what other Wii games should be remastered. Get ready for a super fun chat!

Let's take a break and tell a story. About how I came into the world of JRPG's and started a lifetime love of them. I'll begin where any good story starts: at the beginning. I'll relive my memories and the games that were a part of them. If watching on YouTube I'll show my copy of them too. This first part of the story goes back to the NES and SNES days. I hope you enjoy it!

In typical fashion the weeks before a big trade show, its a slower news week. Even with the move towards digital formats this week, we have only a handful of stories. That being said Scarlett Nexus from Bandai Namco and the team behind Tales of Vesperia, made it debut and looked impressive doing so. Heavy on action but in a slick looking anime fashion, we got our first look at the game. We also received a new story trailer for this fall Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV. Plus a few other smaller stories including Tokyo Game Show officially cancelling its physical version. Thanks for listening!

I ran across this article last week and thought it would make an excellent podcast. Writer Nadia Oxford emailed back and forth with Final Fantasy 6's translator Ted Woolsey. It's a fascinating dive into my 2nd favorite game of all time. And all the troubles Mr. Woolsey had in bringing the game to a western audience. See the link below for the article but I read it all for you here. Thanks for listening!

With about 3 weeks until its May 29 release, the hype for Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition keeps growing. We got details on the new Future Connected post game content, two new web commercials for Japan, and meet the cast for this upcoming JRPG gem. It was by the lead story in a otherwise slow news week. We got a release date for Ys Memories of Celceta for PS4 and talk about the new system in Hajimari No Keseki and its limited edition. Thanks as always for listening our weekly JRPG podcast.

We welcome back Dalton Suter to the podcast for a great conversation all about FFVII Remake. As I just completed the game, Dalton will ask some questions this time as he is currently playing through the original. We try and keep it spoiler free as possible but some things can't be avoided. We then switch gears and give our top picks for games that need this level of remake treatment. Plus a few sacred gems that don't! At a little under 2 hours its our longest, and possibly best podcast yet. Sit back and listen to two nerds talk about JRPG's and enjoy.

Two remakes from Square Enix in two weeks? After the huge success of FFVII Remake on April 10, can they strike again with Trials of Mana. I doubt we'll see the same sales numbers but the game looks and plays great. Before its launch April 24, we have an interview with the game's developers on why they cut multiplayer, what changes were made, the challenges faced, and expectations moving forward. Plus all the other news of the week including a release date for Trails of the Beginning in Japan. Lots of news and lots of fun in your weekly JRPG podcast!

It's finally here. After 23 years and nearly 7 years since it's announcement, the world is now playing Final Fantasy VII Remake. Does it live up to the hype? I can only answer with my thoughts after almost 6 hours of playing it. The news of the week (not much this podcast) starts things off. Then after the break I'll give my reactions and impressions of the game. I hope you all are enjoying it as well. Thanks for listening!

*Potential Spoilers in this podcast* This has been a hard game to report on. I wanted to devote a Sunday Special to it because of the potential spoilers involved. Taking place after the events of Cold Steel IV, any research into this game ruins key outcomes of that series. So I've taken the brunt of it and tried to gather all info without ruining anything. You'll hear the words after the events of Cold Steel IV or I can't say this part a lot. But I feel I have a much better understanding of the game now, and hope you will too after listening. As always thanks for tuning in each week.

The huge worldwide release of Final Fantasy VII Remake is a mere 2 days away. But all is not well with delivery backups from Amazon. I'll let loose a little steam as my copy has been delayed until April 14. Square Enix did release a final trailer for the game (it shows a lot!) as well as some images in a final media dump. We'll have much more on the game with my initial impressions in next week's podcast.
The biggest news I wanted to share came from a recent interview with Falcom President Kondo. He talked about the growth of the series, the newest game Hajimari no Kiseki, and the company's new fans in the west. News about Y's IX was also in there along with localization of the PS4's Crossbell games. Plus more. Thanks so much for listening this week and every week.

Another Sunday is here and it's completely different again. After looking back at the Persona series last week, we discuss all the changes in Persona 5 Royal. Having played it for a few days now, I invite Dalton Bigshoots a long listener of the podcast and friend, to let us know what he has seen. I played it for about 2 hours so I have a few thoughts too. I hope you enjoy this fun conversation with two Persona and JRPG nerds.
Please don't be an April Fool's joke! We learned today on April 1 that Trails of Cold Steel IV will launch in the west this Fall 2020. The Switch and PC version in 2021. I can hardly contain my excitement as we've been waiting a long time on this announcement. In a huge JRPG week that saw the release of Persona 5 Royal, we had tons big announcements. Xenoblade Chronicles got a May 29 release date during the latest Nintendo Direct. I'm eagerly awaiting that game as well with my love of XC2 knowing no bounds. And I was wrong in Episode 105. It was the end of Mary Skelter, not Neptunia. I'll tell you about Mary Skelter Finale as well as many more stories in one of our best podcasts yet!

I've pulled a few articles and the Persona wiki page to come up with a history of the JRPG series. With Persona 5 Royal set to release in a few days it seemed like the perfect time. I hope you enjoy this look back at the series, it's humble beginnings, and where it's headed. Thanks for listening.

No big lead stories this week. I finish up my thoughts on the Trials of Mana demo and cover a range of games from Genshin Impact to Sword Art Online to Sakura Wars. Plus a few more too. But the most surprising news may come on March 28 in a few days. Complile Heart's President has hinted at the ending of its "popular numbered series" to coincide with the end of Dengeki Playstation magazine in Japan. Is this the end of Neptunia? I think not as I talk about it in the podcast. You'll have to tune in next week for more info!

News from Final Fantasy VII Remake, Persona 5 Royal, Genshin Impact, VVVtunia, and more are all in Episode 104. I'm on vacation the next two Sundays, so I needed to goto the soundtrack well a couple of times. However I think you will love this one. I got to experience this concert in person and it's amazing. A must see for any FF fan. This will get you fired up for FFVII Remake even more. Here is the description and tracklist from its fan wiki. Thanks so much for listening!
Distant Worlds IV: more music from Final Fantasy is an arrangement album of select orchestrated tracks from the Final Fantasy series. It was performed by Distant Worlds Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, Susan Calloway (track 8) and Arnie Roth (track 13). It was recorded on 14th and 15th March 2017 in The Dvorak Hall, Rudolfinum, Prague, Czech Republic.
The latest cancellation in the gaming world, E3 2020 will not go as usual. As fears around the corona virus spread, large conventions everywhere are being called off. Plans are still be made, but expect an online show of some sorts will still take place. In other happier news, we have details on Trials of Mana, the physical and digital versions of Sakura Wars in the west, and 3 Legend of Heroes stories. I'm on vacation next week so there may or may not be a show. Depends on the news. In the meantime please enjoy our next two Sunday Specials from the music of Final Fantasy. Thanks for listening!

Always something different on the Sunday Special. This week we cover 3 interviews with the directors and producers of Final Fantasy VII Remake. The first is taken from a video interview by Japanese professional wrestler Kenny Omega with producer Yoshinori Kitase. The second part is taken from multiple interviews with producer Yoshinori Kitase and co-director Naoki Hamaguchi and focuses on Midgar itself. The final interview is with with director Tetsuya Nomura talking about multiple topics. I hope you enjoy this look at the game from the amazing talents that created it. Thanks for listening.

The world got a taste of Final Fantasy VII Remake a month early as the long awaited and rumored demo finally released. Covering the first bombing mission and lasting a little over an hour, it left quite an impression. I'll talk about my feelings and some of our Facebook groups as well at the end of the podcast. We had other stories this week too of course including NIS America letting us down. Again. Thanks for listening each week fans I truly appreciate it.

It was truly a week without a headliner for Episode 101. I chose to focus on a Square Enix statement saying development of a PS5 or Xbox Series X specific game was still a long ways off. It appears most games will be up-res versions of currents systems. So when will we see a truly next game JRPG like FF XVI or DQ XII? Lord only knows. But we did have plenty of actual news to talk about in smaller stories. As always thanks for listening!

Warning! This podcast will discuss all the major spoilers. If you have not played this game, you have been warned. The first half is mostly ok no plot spoilers. However after the Anchor ad, all bets are off and its nothing but spoilers. I hope you enjoy this discussion. I've talked about many things but might have missed some. It's a huge 3 game arc after all. Thanks for listening!

To celebrate our 100th episode of the podcast, we have a great normal show. Nothing special I'm just thrilled to still be doing this every week. On episode 100 we talk all about Persona 5 Scramble's Japanese release and Royal's upcoming western release. New media and info was shared on each. We also have FFVII Remake, Kingdom Hearts, and a few other topics to discuss. Plus a look ahead to this week's Sunday Special as well as a Facebook discussion topic. Thanks as always for listening. Here's to 100 more!

Sunday Specials are always different but this is a whole new idea. I figure why not? Here is the soundtrack for the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III Soundtrack. They call it the Symphony of Class VII. I'd love to know if you would like to hear more of these? So sit back and enjoy!
Episodes on back to back days? Love is surely in the air. I just could not wait to give my thoughts on the amazing FFVII Remake Opening movie. Head over to the Facebook page if you still haven't seen it. But Square Enix wasn't the only company feeling the love today. Atlus released it third and final movie for Persona 5 Scramble the Phantom Strikers. With just a week until its Japanese launch, they showed a lot of action and some terrifying bosses. Plus Atelier Ryza hit a big sales number along with a few other stories. I give my thoughts on why after 20 hours, Ryza is by far the best in the series and worthy of a pickup. Thanks for listening. Please let me know if you want more shows like this when news breaks or prefer a weekly podcast full of it all.

Hot off the presses, Square Enix's latest media dump shines new lights on several areas. We learn about Red XIII and Professor Hojo, Tifa's battle abilities, and even see the Nail Bat in action! They talk about summons and the new mercenary quests that will add length and content to the game. It's all exciting news that answer some burning questions about the game. We have a full show of good stories including the western release date for Sakura Wars and a possible Trials of Mana demo. Thanks for listening each week dear JRPG enthusiasts.

Final Fantasy VII Remake released its latest trailer titled "Theme Song" and boy does it show a lot. Maybe too much. I talk a little about what it does show but this game is dangerously close to revealing too much. We got a great video explaining what Persona 5 Scramble is all about, unfortunately it's in Japanese. Plus many more stories including the future games in the Legend of Heroes saga. Thanks for listening!

It's a light news week but we have some fun stories to mention. Persona 5 Scramble the Phantom Strikers had it's second video drop and its full of good info. The title looks very promising with more info coming next week. Not much else happened so I dive into the latest rumor that Final Fantasy VII Remake's Demo wont release until March 3, the same day as release. I'm sure we'll have more on this story soon. Its Christmas time! To celebrate we talk about our favorite Christmas memories growing up. Our listeners shared some great stories! Then I begin with one of two big stories: first the Crossbell Saga of the Legend of Heroes series is being remastered for Japan. Second Japan is getting a completely new spin off game in the Cold Steel universe. We talk about Trails of the Beginning at the very end of the show as it contains massive spoilers. I didn't even want to read it all as it even had spoilers for me having only played halfway through CS3. Plus some in depth knowledge about four of the phantom thieves in Persona 5 Scramble and other stories too. You don't want to miss this holiday show! Finally a busy week of news for us JRPG fans. Falcom talked a little bit about a Legend of Heroes release for September 2020 in Japan. So I speculate on what that means and when we will finally see Cold Steel IV in the West. Atlus and Omega Force gave us a ton of new information about Persona 5 Scamble the Phantom Strikers too. Gust confirmed they are already worked on a new Atelier series and Square Enix is thinking about redefining the action game for its next game. Plus many more stories on jam packed Episode 84. I breakdown all the greatness of the Final Fantasy VII Remake gameplay, along with some things you may have missed. And I'll give my thoughts on the new Classic mode. In the weeks between Gamescon and Tokyo Game Show, news can be light. But we soldier on and actually have some cool stories to talk about. The first is the first solid details of Atelier Ryza's battle system. While still turn based, its a departure from previous titles and looks great. We also had some Persona 5 Royal tidbits, the first screenshots for Star Ocean 1's remaster, and more baddies from Monster Hunter World Iceborne. Not a huge week of JRPG news but lots of stories to cover. We take a look at the first gameplay of Atelier Ryza and speak about Nippon Ichi and their smartphone plans. A few announcements, videos, and release dates also popped up. Plus I answer a tough question from the Facebook page. Thanks for listening!
Another awesome week of JRPG news with release dates for Atelier Ryza, The Alliance Alive HD, and Disgaea 4 Complete +. We also have new details for Persona 5 Royal, Y's IX, and Elden Ring. Plus Dragon Quest XII seems to be ready for development! Thanks so much for listening. Leave us a review if you please. Follow the podcast on Facebook and subscribe for live streams on YouTube.
We had a technical issue with the original upload so here it is again! Working for a nice change. If you already downloading the original file, delete it as the first part has no sound. Sound apparently is important to a podcast who knew? In Episode 65 we discuss all things Tales of Arise, FFVII Remake and some Trails of Cold Steel III new changes. All that and so much more in a week I didn't think we would even have enough material for a podcast. Thanks for bearing with our problems.
So much information we needed two podcasts to cover everything. We have some new details about FFVII Remake, Grandia HD Collection, Persona 5 Royal, and tons on Dragon Quest XI S. We'll also cover some of the things we missed from day 1 and some smaller titles I'm excited about. We probably missed a few things too so dont be mad! Leave a review, join our community, and follow us on Facebook and YouTube.
Words fail us at times like this. So much JRPG goodness has been revealed so far at E3 2019. And it's only day 1. We talk about all the big players from Final Fantasy VII Remake to Tales of Arise to Persona 5 Royal to Trails of Cold Steel III. We'll dive into these and much more plus a few surprises. Part 2 of E3 coming in a few days. Follow us on Facebook and like our YouTube page! Now accepting listener support through the Anchor app as well. Thanks for listening!
Two podcasts in one week? Yes indeed. I felt the need to report these stories as they broke after recording. And with E3 next week didn't want them overlooked. So here is a nice treat for you faithful listeners.
After a week off for vacation I'm back with Episode 62. Trails of Cold Steel II releases yesterday so I'm very happy. Tune in nightly for our livestream. In this podcast we talk about it, Dragon Quest Walk and XII announcements, as well as a new Atelier game. Lots of news in the week before E3!
In a light news week, Nippon Ichi made headlines for all the wrong reasons. However reports of their demise might be a bit premature. I'll dive into the story and report it all. Plus how it will affect NIS America and their distribution of great JRPG titles like Trails of Cold Steel III. Plus I'll give my two cents on the rumors surrounding Final Fantasy VII Remake's leaks. Hint: I don't like them or want to talk much about rumors. Please give us a like and review and don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube page for the JRPG Report. Thanks for listening!!
After a while out the spotlight, Final Fantasy VII Remake made a huge splash in the JRPG pool. During Sony's State of Play, Cloud and company showed off what they had been working on. Aerith was seen in all her glory too. We have a few others stories to cover too plus questions from the Facebook page. Subscribe on YouTube and give us a review on the app store please!

Its a slow news week so I dive into the world of JRPG remakes and remasters. And I think I have a decent idea of what to do about them. I talk a little Trails of Cold Steel and the few news bits too. Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube page for great videos and live streams too. Thanks for listening!
2019 will see not one, not two, but three Trails of Cold Steel games released. We'll talk about the first Legend of Heroes title and how much I love already. Plus we have breaking news about Persona 5 S and what does Persona 5 The Royal mean? It's the JRPG Report Episode 55 coming at ya!
Perhaps the shortest podcast ever, Episode 54 of the JRPG Report is light on content, but big on fun. We have a few news stories to cover, but the best part is my speculation on Persona 5 R. Plus my thoughts on the mobile JRPG Another Eden. And something about a cat.
Episode 53 of the JRPG Report is here and a bit on the shorter side. A few news stories and my top reasons to play Trails of Cold Steel on March 26. Check out my Youtube page for videos and live streams of great JRPG content. Thanks for listening!
I'm not sure what happened but the first podcast didn't render properly. All is well now thanks to Hans for letting me know about the issue! In this podcast we'll cover Kingdom Hearts 3 and Tales of Vesperia as I completed them both last week. Also we have a ton of stories covering all the top JRPG titles coming out soon.
It's been a few weeks since Kingdom Hearts 3 released and I have some thoughts to share. We also have tons of news stories to talk about and questions to answer from the Facebook group. The podcast is full of great JRPG content so don't miss it!
Some said this day would never come. But 10 years later we finally have a main story sequel in the Kingdom Hearts saga. I'll give my initial impressions of this amazing looking game. Plus an update on how my Tales of Vesperia play-through is going. And we have a few news and notes too. One last thing: I'll speak about my experience at the incredible Distant Worlds show!
After a very long wait, JRPG fans finally have a release window of Fall 2019 for Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III. We'll talk about what we know so far. Plus news about a few upcoming titles like Another Eden and why I'm so excited for it. Finally I'll give my initial impressions of the awesome Tales of Vesperia Remaster.
The JRPG Report is proud to host an interview with Legrand Legacy creator and SEMISOFT CEO Uwil. This is a special program just contains our interview. Uwil discusses the upcoming Switch title Legrand Legacy Tale of the Fatebounds and all its details. We cannot thank him enough for his time and knowledge as we look forward to this excellent looking game! Please keep in mind this conversation was recorded half a world apart via Discord so please pardon any technical sound issues.
I can't recall a January so filled with JRPG goodness. Tales of Vesperia is nearly here and Kingdom Hearts 3 is only weeks away. We'll talk about these games and much more in Episode 48. Plus all the fun JRPG goodies I got for Christmas. Thanks for listening!
