Requirements For The Love For Allah

In this lecture, Shaykh Abdur-Rahman begins by mentioning the ayah regarding the believers: “Those who believe are intensely in love with Allah” The Shaykh differentiates between superficial and true love. He mentions that Allah has placed the attraction for beauty in our hearts, therefore it should only be natural that we incline to the love of Allah as He is most perfect in all His attributes. Love has requirements. For one to claim their love to be sincere, their actions must mirror their emotion of their heart. The way of this path helps the seeker to build their love for Allah with increased adhkhars while at the same time pushing away the false love for this world. The Shaykh mentions the importance of this and that in ones heart a person either has the love for Allah or the world, they cannot co-exist.
