I’m so excited to kick off 2025 with having special guest Tyler Moore, also known as “Tidy Dad” on social media, back on the show. Today we are talking about our shared experience of the post-holiday chaos and navigating seasons of life that just feel “cluttered” both physically and mentally.
I loved this conversation with Tyler and his gentle approach to goal setting or routine “experimenting” in the new year and plotting for moments of joy amidst the chaos. Through these conversations he shares so many practical tips and mindset shifts from his new book, ‘Tidy Up Your Life”.

I am so excited to welcome back co-hosts of the Frugal Friends Podcast - Jen Smith (personal finance expert) and Jill Sirianni (social worker) here on Minimal-ish to talk about all things values-based spending during the holiday season. Today I'm in reflection mode because my oldest daughter just turned 7, which also means my husband and I learned about minimalism and decluttered our home for the first time ALMOST 7 years ago. Additionally, I started the podcast right before my daughter turned 1, so Minimal-ish is officially 6 years old!
With all of these milestones has come some reflecting- so I'm bringing you 7 big lessons I've learned about both motherhood and minimalism. I love doing episodes like this one, so I hope you enjoy it! At the end, I ask you to send me your favorite thing you've learned about motherhood and/or minimalism. At the end of one of the busiest weeks of the year for my family, I'm bringing you a replay episode of my favorite episode of the podcast that speaks to me now just as much as it did two years ago. Shauna Niequist had always been my dream guest, and that dream came true in spring of 2022! I'm so excited to replay this episode for you as you may not have heard it yet being that it is far down in the archives. Even if you've heard it, it's one of those must-re-listen episodes.
Shauna and I talk about change, the mourning that can come with change, and how we can embrace a new season even if it feels like someone is prying the old season from our hands. If you're going through change of any kind, change can be so hard. This episode is here to be a warm embrace. Grab a cup of something warm and listen in again, or for the first time.

Today I'm sharing a solo episode where I talk through some details of how we overhauled our summer routine when our days were feeling very unstructured and unintentional. First I share some steps I take when I'm ready to change up a routine. I then share a little more behind the scenes of routine changes and visuals that worked for our family to go from unintentional summer routine to much more structure and intention in our days. I'm sharing about our summer routine since we had some practice in making sure it worked. However, I'll be applying these concepts to our back to school/ fall routines over the next few weeks.

Today I'm bringing you a solo episode where I’m sharing a little bit about my own recent mindset shift and desire to step out of my comfort zone to embrace a season of “yes” with my kids this summer. Minimalism is often associated with saying “no” and living at a slower pace, but there are times when saying “yes” to things big or small can also lead to a fuller life. A season of yes can look different for everyone + may change depending on the season of life we are in, but whichever season you’re in I hope you will leave this episode with some encouragement to consider where you can or want to say “yes” more often.

In today's episode, I interview Erin Loechner, author of 'The Opt Out Family,' about her journey from being an influencer to living a low-tech lifestyle. We discuss the challenges of social media, the power of the algorithm, and the importance of being more engaged in our real life. Erin shares her insights on how to make the shift to a low-tech lifestyle, and we talk about getting intentional with the role technology plays in our life. Erin encourages us to be more engaging than the algorithm and shares examples of how her family lives a low-tech lifestyle. Conversations on technology and social media are always important ones to have because there is no playbook on how to do this well - we have to make those decisions for ourselves. I love that Erin gives us another perspective along with a ton of resources on this topic.

Today's episode is a topic that I love. Though we don't often talk about it on the podcast, I believe fitness and wellness, and how we take care of ourselves in general, is a big part of intentional living. However, motherhood often does make it a little more difficult to navigate making it a part of our lives. Today I have Amy Kiefer of Expecting and Empowered on the podcast to encourage us with resources and motivation to a healthier life - from nourishing ourselves well, to simplifying fitness, to making it a part of our routine in the midst of overwhelming days as a mom. We also talk about the benefits of strength training and nourishing ourselves well. I hope you can tell through listening in that I absolutely loved this conversation and was very inspired by Amy- I know you will be, too!

Today I have Ashlee Gadd as my guest as we are talking about a "thing that matters" - creativity, or really, doing whatever it is that makes you feel more like you.
We encourage our kids to be creative, yet as adults we often fully lose this part of ourselves to a busy life. We count creativity as something that we no longer have time for, that is inessential. Today's conversation challenges that and encourages you to keep creating, right in the margins of a busy life and motherhood.
Ashlee s a wife, mother of three, believer, and the founder of Coffee + Crumbs. When she's not working or vacuuming Cheerios out of the carpet, she loves making friends on the Internet, eating cereal for dinner, and rearranging bookshelves. Her book, Create Anyway: the Joy of Pursuing Creativity in the Margins of Motherhood, is now available wherever books are sold.

Today we're taking some time to pause and think about our goals again because goal setting is an important part of a minimal-ish, intentional life. We often have a push to set goals at the beginning of the year, but the real progress comes when we revisit those goals and refine them throughout the year.
In this episode, we go through a series of questions to help us reflect on our progress, decide which goals still matter and which we can let go of. We also make a little plan to continue this type of reflection throughout the year.
This episode is a guilt and shame free revisiting of our goals - if you haven't made any progress yet, the opportunities are endless to start when you're ready.
At the end of the episode, I revisit the goals that I shared with you on the first episode of the year and do my own version of this exercise as an example and a reminder that I'm always on this journey with you!

Today I'm talking with Rachel Nielson, host of the 3 and 30 podcast, all about ways we can "declutter our motherhood." We talk about topics that range from a practical way to find joy in the everyday, mundane moments, to decluttering all the "shoulds" we put on ourselves in motherhood. Rachel also shares about her struggle with depression in early motherhood. I know this is a conversation that will leave you feeling encouraged and less alone after you listen.

Today we're diving deep into the reason why we so often feel the temptation to over consume things we don't actually need, why we would want to change these habits, and how we can become more conscious consumers in an "influencer world."
This episode was inspired by the craze of the "Stanley Cup" - a trendy reusable water bottle. I'm digging into the story of this cup, what it says about influencer marketing, and more importantly, how we have the power, as a consumer, to change our habits. The second half of the episode is full of actionable steps like questions to reflect on and different ways we can challenge ourselves so we can have real, lasting habit change in our buying habits - starting with thinking or pausing before we buy.

Today I'm excited to share my conversation with Alli Williams of FinancALLI Focused. Alli has one of my favorite perspectives I've heard on budgeting, paying off debt, and working towards our financial goals, and that is one that is free of a depravation mindset. Today we talk all about why budgets often fail, what we should be doing BEFORE we budget, and we also spend a lot of the episode discussing knowing our values when it comes to our finances so we don't find ourselves caught in comparison and spending our money on things that don't truly matter to us.
Wherever you're at in your financial goals and whatever your financial literacy looks like, I know this conversation will encourage you as we start a new year.

Today's episode piggy backs off of episode 212, our annual goal setting episode. Today we go over four other ways to set goals or just plan intentionally for 2024. We go over setting a word for the year, setting goals on a monthly or quarterly basis, a 24 in 24 list, and more.
This episode is meant to spark ideas for your 2024 planning, and even if you're not a goal setter, I hope it helps you do some intentional reflecting and planning.

Today I am honored to have Rachel Cruze on the show to help us find effective ways to teach our kids about gratitude and contentment, especially in the midst of this holiday season.
Rachel recently wrote a children's book, I'm Glad for What I Have, which features a simple story that can be a catalyst for having the conversation with our kids about what truly fulfills us in life (spoiler alert: it's not material things).
Rachel shares different strategies and routines we can implement into our daily life to help build contentment and gratitude as an entire family. We also talk about having conversations with our kids about comparing what we have to others, along with so much more. I felt so inspired by this conversation, and I know you will, too!

Today I'm bringing you a message that has been on my heart for a while now - we're talking all about the false promise of the perfectly tidy home and what actually matters more. How do we allow ourselves to rest when we've been so used to spinning our wheels to become "more minimal" or find the best systems for our home?
We also talk about the cost of all the magic making during the holiday season, and I bring you a quick black friday pep talk.
This episode is my holiday message to you! I hope you enjoy it and find yourself encouraged by it!

Today is the perfect episode to press play and do a 20-30 minute mini decluttering session along with me! We're talking about decluttering the toys, and I also go on a little rabbit trail and share my recent decluttering project with you: my entry way, which also included some toys.
Like each Declutter with Me episode, I walk you through my own decluttering, and then I share some tips for your decluttering session. Today's episode is a special edition, because I actually read through Day 12 of Your Minimal-ish Holidays, my 30 day holiday guided journal. This is one of the six days of the decluttering challenge that is included in the journal, and it of course focuses on toys.
I hope you enjoy today's shorter, yet actionable episode!

How do we get intentional about the way we give (and even receive) our gifts as we get closer to the holiday season? Today I'm talking about this topic with Rachael Classi, founder and CEO of Tiny Earth Toys. Rachael shares about Tiny Earth's toy rental subscription which is a great way to get intentional about what's under our trees, but we also talk about our own experiences with gift exchanges with extended family, the struggle of worrying our kids will disappointed when our gifts under the tree align with our values (aka, there's not a ton of them), and how we've tried new things and chosen to be more intentional throughout the years.
I hope you come out of this episode with new ideas for gift giving in a way that won't stress you out and will align with your values this holiday season.

Today I have Joey Odom, Cofounder of Aro, on the podcast to talk all about the importance of changing our habits with our phones. Many of us know our habits with picking up our phones and scrolling so often are harming us and our relationships in some way, but it can be difficult to change these habits. Joey brings plenty of research to this conversation to help us build a deep why for working towards real habit change in this area. We talk about practical tips for changing the habit in ourselves, but also in our older kids if they are struggling with their relationships with their phones as well.
This conversation is full of hard truths, but also tons of grace. As parents, it's so important that we get intentional about our phone usage and create an example for our kids. I hope you'll listen in and be inspired and encouraged today in this extremely relevant topic.

Today we have a special edition of "Declutter with Me." I'll be walking you through my problem areas in my own kitchen and my thought process when I come across items I'm unsure if I want to keep or declutter. I'll also guide you through a kitchen maintenance declutter before we get to the holiday season. The kitchen is not only the heart of the home- I'd argue it's also the heart of the holiday season.
What makes this a special edition of the "Declutter with Me" series? I'm reading an excerpt from Your Minimal-ish Holidays, a holiday guided journal that I'll be releasing on October 17th. This excerpt is, of course, on kitchen decluttering and is part of the 6 day decluttering challenge that can be found in the journal.

I'll also share the top downloaded episodes, my favorite moments on the show, and 5 things I learned about minimalism in 5 years. Today I'm bringing you a solo episode/ guest episode hybrid to talk all about photo organization and decluttering. This has been a highly requested topic, and I am far from an expert. When I look at digital files and photos, my mind just goes blank on where to start. I knew I needed help in this area, so I went in search of photo decluttering tools and discovered Mylio. I've been grateful to partner with them after using their software to help me get started in an overwhelming decluttering journey.
Today I'm bringing you some general decluttering tips in getting started and chipping away at a very cluttered camera roll, and then I'm sharing some of how I use Mylio to help me do it, though many of these tips could be applied to any way you choose to declutter your photos- with or without an accompanying photo software/ decluttering tool.
Then, David Vaskevitch joins me to share how Mylio's tools more in depth and how he declutters and organizes not just his digital photos, but also his paper clutter, physical photos, and more.

Today, Juliana Ong of Stories of Play is my guest, and we talk all about the importance of play for our kids and how we can foster creative, open ended, independent play. While this is a fun, somewhat light hearted topic, it's also one where intentionality can make all the difference. I can vouch for this because after my conversation with Jules, I changed a lot about our family's play space and the way I approach and view play in our home, and I've seen so much more focused play from my girls.
Jules has so much knowledge when it comes to this topic and she gives us permission to simplify things as she brings a wealth of ideas for us to implement to get started in simplifying play.

Diana Rene is my guest today, and we're focusing on systems that can simplify some of the most overwhelming parts of the season, like the influx of paper that comes into our homes or the amount of school lunches we have to pack over the next several months. Do you ever feel overwhelmed, like there are a million things to do, but you're not sure where that feeling is actually coming from? Of course, a busy life can make us feel this way, but I think our brains are more overwhelmed than ever because of the amount of information we are able to take in thanks to the internet and social media.
If you find yourself scrolling through social media, unsure of why you even opened the app in the first place, this is for you! "Consuming content" isn't a bad thing - there is great content out there in the world in the form of longer form content, like books and podcasts, and shorter form content such as an Instagram post. We can learn and grow and get great value from these things. The problem comes from the volume of it along with the addictive nature of the apps. Our brains simply weren't made to take in this much information in such short periods of time.
Today we're working on decluttering our podcast feeds, our social media, and our email inboxes. Of course, we'll put a heavy emphasis on reflecting on what our goals and values are when we do consume content online before we start decluttering. We'll also talk about phone boundaries and how our habits play a big role in how much content we consume.
What I'm most excited about is the challenge I created to go along with this episode! We start the challenge as a community on July 17th, but you can also do it at any time on your own!

Today we are talking decluttering our clothes - and we are specifically talking about our own, personal clothes (not our spouse's clothes or our kids' clothes.) I believe this is one of the most impactful areas of the home to declutter because we wake up and make a decision about what to wear every day. A cluttered, overfilled closet doesn't help us in that daily endeavor.
Being that it's summer, this might be the most impactful time of the year to talk about this topic and make sure our closets are only filled with the clothes that we love and that fit us. I hope you'll join me today as we talk about why this is such an impactful area of the home to make minimal-ish, along with tips for decluttering this area of the home (by creating a personal uniform). I'm also sharing my recent experience decluttering my clothes and filling gaps in my supper wardrobe.

-Aligning our summer days to what is most important to us
-How we can declutter our minds this summer

I love Kelly because her perspective on home management is a breath of fresh air: both realistic AND attainable. Today I'm bringing you a solo episode about a topic that has been on my mind lately - perfectionism and what it steals from us. Lately I've seen a shift in my ability to feel content and a lot of that has been my ability to see notice perfectionism when it shows up in my life. I am bringing you my reflections about what perfectionism steals from us, how it might manifest in our live, and how we can let go when we see it effecting us.

Today we're talking about stress - something 2/3 of us experience to an extent that it is actually effecting our health. We live in a stressed out society, and dealing with our clutter is one way to help lessen the stress in our everyday life. But there are so many different types of stress we deal with, and some of them we cannot "declutter" out of our lives. An important question becomes "how do we cope with this stress?" Today I have Stacey Littlefield as my guest. She is a master herbalist at Redd Remedies, and she has a degree in biology with a master's degree in herbalism. We talk quite a bit about how stress effects us as women and moms, and different ways that we can cope with that stress. We also talk about natural remedies we can use to help support our bodies in coping with stress.
I also spend time today sharing some of my coping mechanisms for stress, and how I had to come to terms with the way that stress was effecting me this past year. It's a bit of a longer intro so I can share all of that with you, so this episode is almost a hybrid solo episode/ guest episode. It's a unique one, and I hope you enjoy it!

Today I'm bringing you an interview of...myself. I know it sounds strange, but what I mean is I was on another podcast and I loved our conversation so much, I wanted to make sure you heard it here if you didn't get to hear it there. If you love this conversation, I hope you'll go check out the Mom's Overcoming Overwhelm podcast and hear more like it.
On this episode, I share my story with minimalism and how it has been so impactful for me, what minimalism has taught me about myself and my daughter, along with how minimalism doesn't have to be about hiding the evidence that kids live in our homes. Kids will bring mess no matter how little stuff we have - so how do we embrace this season with littles and let the mess be (so we don't go crazy)

Today I'm bringing you a mindset shift that I hope will help ease the stress we might feel when other people we have close relationships with or who even live in our homes don't see eye to eye with our minimal-ish lifestyle. How do we choose intentionality with our stuff when it isn't us bringing the stuff into our homes? How do we have conversations with family members who love to bless our kids with plenty of gifts? Sometimes, trying to control it all can cause more stress than having that extra item in our homes.
We talk about a mindset shift that might help along with some action steps we can take to deal with the influx of stuff that might come from the people we love.

Dawn's insights really were eye opening to me, even 5 years into decluttering. Sometimes it just takes thinking of things in a different way, and Dawn helps us do that today. Listen in, and then go declutter something!

Today I'm talking about one of my favorite topics when it comes to minimalism: Contentment. I love talking about how we can be more grateful and content with what is right in front of us. We discuss three ways we can take small but impactful action to get more content with our homes. Of course, these all apply to other areas of our lives as well. I hope you enjoy this episode, and I hope you feel a little more content after listening.

I've been thinking about how minimalism and decluttering can sometimes feel like a surface-level, irrelevant topic in the midst of scary headlines and difficult things that may be going on in our world and our individual lives. I thought a little deeper and realized that minimalism and decluttering can be relevant because it can prompt us to change so much more than just our stuff and our homes.
So why is it that minimalism can be so life changing? How does it trickle down from just our stuff into every area of our lives? Today I'm discussing this and sharing a little bit of my own story along with it.
I hope this episode encourages you to keep going in whatever place you're at in your journey.

Warning: As with many holiday episodes, we are talking about gifts, the emphasis of gifts, and gifts under the tree. If this might be something you don't want your kids to hear, you may want to listen with earbuds in! :)
Today's episode is full of ideas to make the holidays fun and special for our kids, but also intentional and enjoyable for the entire family. My guest, Tasheena Ticer of The Cinnamon Mom, brings us a look into her family's traditions and how she celebrates the holidays intentionally, making sure to bring both fun and meaning to the holiday season for her kids.
Tasheena shares plenty of practical ideas that we can take and use this holiday season, but she also brings us some important reminders to be realistic about our own energy this holiday season, because the holidays aren't just for our kids. I know you'll take away many fun ideas from our conversation, but also sense of relief that we don't have to do it all, and we can make the holidays special with low pressure and a low budget.

I'm bringing you a two part series on what I'm learning as I declutter with my 5 year old daughter. First, we are starting with a reflection. Next week we will get a little more practical with the how.
As I was cleaning up my home, doing a nightly reset, this question occurred to me and caused me to reflect. Is our pursuit of minimalism selfish if we have kids. I've seen similar questions discussed in minimalism focused Facebook Groups, and I really wanted to reflect on it for my own home.
In this episode, I bring you along on my reflection and offer some questions for you to reflect on this for yourself.
When it comes down to it, our why for minimalism is often far from selfish, but my own pursuit for a minimalist aesthetic in my home has crossed the line, and has become a stressor for me in the past. Let's talk more about this- Listen in!

Today I'm bringing you a solo episode of something I've been learning lately. I hope this idea of learning when to call it enough, stop trying so hard and stop striving for perfectionism resonates with you if you've been feeling tired, run down, even overwhelmed.
It's so easy to just never settle in an area of our life because we always think we need to improve. We see others who are better than us or more of an expert than us on social media. We see a new way of doing something we are already doing fine at. And we choose to keep striving for perfect instead of choose to be content with how things are.
This isn't about never growing or improving on anything - it's about the fact that we can't be growing and improving in everything at once. Some thing, we're just going to be okay at in this season, and that has to be okay, or we're never going to feel good about ourselves.
Listen in- I hope this episode feels like a warm hug or a breathe of fresh air that you need as much as I did/ still do.

Today I'm bringing you a mini episode to share a podcast I've been loving that is a part of Cloud10 Media - the network Minimal-ish is a part of. I've been so grateful to work alongside of amazing podcasters like Rachel Nielson, host of 3 in 30 Takeaways for Moms.
3 in 30 Takeaways for Moms is hosted by Rachel Nielson, a lover of practical ideas, conversations with kindred spirits, and her two wild miracle children who keep life interesting. She combined all of these passions when creating her podcast. After a long fight to become a mother, Rachel truly believed that she would thrive as a mom from day one. Her transition into motherhood was a little bumpier than she had imagined, and she sought the help of professionals for actionable advice.
3 in 30 is a podcast for women who want to love motherhood as much as they love their children. Since moms are short on time and brain space, each 30-minute episode offers 3 actionable takeaways. 3 in 30 covers a wide variety of topics from how to stop yelling at your kids so much, to productivity and time management tips, to parenting children with ADHD or autism, to talking to your kids about racism, disability, mental health, and so much more. The tips and strategies shared by expert guests will help you make your family life a little better each week. If this sounds up your alley, listen to 3 in 30 Takeaways for Moms on your favorite podcast listening app.

Today I'm talking with Amy Eilers, mom of four and home systems and rhythms expert, all about the laundry. We talk about...
So many of these tips can be applied to any household chore, so I hope you enjoy today's episode as much as I enjoyed my conversation with Amy!

A question I've gotten lately as we've recently added to the family? "Do you regret getting rid of so much baby stuff?" or "What should I do with the baby/ kid stuff when I'm not sure when or if we will use it again?"
Today, I'm approaching this question and sharing my why for getting rid of baby stuff a couple of years ago, and why we don't regret it. I'm also sharing some questions to help you make your own decision on this along with some roadblocks that you might have to overcome along the way!

Today I have Joshua Becker back on the podcast to talk about his newest book, Things that Matter: Overcoming Distraction to Pursue a more Meaningful Life. In his book, Joshua details 8 distractions that keep us from living an intentional life, and today we are talking in depth about two of those distractions. We cover the distraction of fear and the distraction of technology - two distractions I believe so many of us struggle with.

Today I'm talking about The Phrase "The Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side," and a recent run in I had on this mindset.
Through navigating these feelings in my own life, I realized there were three problems that get us in this mindset.
In today's episode, I present these three problems or "stories we're telling ourselves" and suggest new narratives to replace them and move past this mindset.
We talk about
1. The issue of wanting to run from tough circumstances or conflict
2. Comparison & Contentment
3. "finding" an elusive "calling or purpose" vs. finding purpose right where you're at.
I can't wait to chat with you about this all, friend! I hope you enjoy the episode!

On today's episode, I am honored to interview one of my favorite authors, Shauna Niequist. Her new book, I Just Haven't Learned That Yet, is full of stories of how we cope with unexpected change, letting go of previous seasons, and embracing the present. I know Shauna's grace filled words and wisdom will encourage you just as they did for me.
We discuss:
-The namesake of her book and her family's mantra: "I Just Haven't Learned That Yet."
-Coping when life no longer looks the way you planned it to (dealing with unexpected change)
-Letting go of old seasons when we want to hold on.
-Embracing the present.

Today I talk with Patrice Washington, best selling author and speaker, all about her 6 pillars of wealth, pursuing purpose in our work and lives, and redefining wealth. This is one of my favorite conversations I've had on the podcast and I believe it will meet you wherever you are at and encourage you! Thanks for listening in!
Today we talk about:
-Patrice’s story and why she is passionate about what she does.
-Work Life Balance: What a purposeful workday looks like for her, including how and why she includes staying present with her family.
-How we can beat mom guilt that comes along with work.
-Her definition of wealth and why she came to see wealth in this way
-The six pillars of wealth: Fit, People, Space, Faith, Work, Money
-Pursuing passion in work vs. purpose, even when your work isn’t your passion.
-Chasing purpose isn’t about being an entrepreneur
-Working towards a life (and work) that you do feel purpose and fulfillment in (and how finances aren’t the most important part of it)
-Going from a hustle/ grind mindset to a mindset of presence and purpose
-Fitting in the important things on a busy schedule (having balance in the pillars and what to do if you’re feeling out of balance)
-Embracing what is naturally “our thing” and staying in our lane (not feeling bad for saying no to what isn’t your thing)

Today I'm talking with professional photographer, Jenna Arvidson, all about photos of our family: the ones you take and the ones taken of you.
Most of us have a smartphone which can make us feel the pressure of constantly capturing the moments of our kids and lives in general- but sometimes the phone/photos can be a distraction and keep us from being present, and almost always we take about a million but only print out a few. Today, Jenna gives us tips on how to get the photos we will actually cherish of our families and be present for the rest instead of constantly living with a phone in our hands so we don't miss a photo op. She also gives us tips on family photo day from a photographer's perspective, and how to stress less when the day comes.

Today we are decluttering again together - I walk you through what my decluttering session looked like as I decluttered my daughter's room- specifically her clothes. Her clothes seem to multiply even if I don't bring them into the home, so this is definitely a point of overwhelm for me. I answer the question "what do I keep" when it comes to kids clothes for future siblings, and I also talk over the mindset shifts I've had around kids clothes, and how I declutter as I go instead of always waiting until things get out of hand.

Today I'm taking you on a decluttering session with me! This is part of a new series where we will go room by room together and I'll let you in on my thoughts as I declutter.
Decluttering used to be a major topic on the podcast, and I could use some maintenance decluttering. Springtime brings about the motivation to bring peace to our homes, so let's do it together.
For the first episode, I go over questions to ask yourself if you have a hard time letting go of things or feel guilt over doing so - especially as it relates to bathroom items. At the end of the episode, we dive into how decluttering can create more mess before it gets better, and the deeper side of what it can do for you.
See my bathroom mess before and after at @life_withintention on instagram.
I hope this episode motivates you to set a timer for 20-30 minutes and declutter along side of me.

Today I'm talking about the one in one out rule - a very basic rule of maintenance decluttering. However, I'm not just talking about our stuff. I talk about how this rule can apply to our days and our minds as well.
I specifically dive deeper into how this rule can help declutter our days/minds to go along with the many episodes of burnout we've had so far this year on the show. I get real about something that has been missing from my days, and my one in, one out to help add it back in.

Today I'm sharing my journey with healing my relationship with movement, food and my body - a journey that I'm still on but that I've shared quite a bit of on instagram. I've gotten requests to share it as a podcast episode, so here it is! I fully believe the way we approach our health and the relationship we have with food and our bodies is a huge part of an intentional life.
I talk about:
-Messages the health/ fitness industry sends us
-How eating less isn't really a good long term solution for most people
-Why so many of us dislike exercise and how to get consistent with moving our bodies in a healthy way
-Questions to help evaluate where you are at personally with movement/ food.
I come at this from a non-expert normal-human standpoint, so take my advice and journey with a grain of salt. My hope is that my story will resonate with you and you can learn from some of the things I've learned along the way and begin healing your relationship with food + fitness if it needs to be healed. Today we're talking all about working from home - I give 10 different tips total (okay, really 12 if you count the first 2 that apply across the board), but we break it up into two different sections.
I've worked from home in some way, shape, or form for four years now. I worked part time in the margins of my full time job, then in the margins of stay at home motherhood, and now I work full time from home.

I talk with Ashley Brown of Routine & Things today. We cover what it means to set life giving routines and be kind to yourself in the midst of following through with them. We also talk about what to do when a routine isn't working anymore in the midst of changing seasons and how to adhere to routines when you feel like you just maybe aren't a consistent person. This is one of my favorite conversations I've had on the topic and I know Ashley's perspective will encourage you!

A short encouragement today - that you don't always have to strive to be and do all the things.
In a season of change and transition, or in any season where you have a lot on your plate - if there's something you're striving for that is overwhelming you, this is an encouragement to table it for now.
You don't have to fully let it go - just set it aside til things are less chaotic and you can decide to pick it up again.
Listen in for more as we continue talking about seasons of change and transition.

I'm so excited to bring you the first episode of the podcast with the new name, With Intention! Check out the trailer I released to understand the change a little better!
Today I'm diving into a question that I repeatedly got from listeners during the break I took with the podcast - how is it going? How are all the changes going? How is your new job?
Because I got so many questions like this, and others related to adjustments and changes that life brings us, I'm starting a quick series for a few episodes where we'll cover some different ones.
My main goal is for you to feel encouraged + less alone in whatever changes are coming your way. Today I talk about my personal transition to full time working mom life and I cover:
-The main fear I've had during this adjustment
-The lies we all might be inclined to believe about motherhood when it comes to working or staying at home.
-4 things I've learned in the midst of the change
-How minimalism is still making all the difference.

I love minimalism- so much so that I talk about some aspect of it pretty much every single week. But I was also intrigued to have a conversation with my friend Indiana, who doesn't love the concept of minimalism, mostly because she's wary of the trend.
Through our conversation, we uncover that it's not true minimalism that she doesn't love, but what is portrayed of it. We talk about other ways to seek peace other than through simplifying our possessions, though we both agree that is one way to do so.
It's a fun and important conversation - especially when we place so much responsibility on minimalism as a fix all, which it simply isn't.

We even chat about some of our favorite baby essentials.
We get very real in this episode and my hope is that it will make you feel a little less alone in your journey and encourage you in some way!
Questions we answered (in order)Did you have a huge edit at the beginning of minimalism? How many times have you decluttered since?
What is your favorite room (decluttered) and why?
What is your favorite system?
What are some baby essentials? What do I actually need? Overwhelmed by all the lists and suggestions.
What do you do with keepsakes from the first baby that are taking up too much space while waiting for the second?

Today I'm coming to you solo, which I do about once a month now, on the topic of social media. This is something I've reflected with and experimented on and off with over the course of this year - how does social media fit into an intentional life and present days?
My goal with this episode is to help you reflect on your own values & purpose, the current state of your social media usage, and how to align the way you use social media to your personal values.
I think we all want to be present with our people and live intentional days that we love- social media is a very prevalent thing within many of our days- so it's worth taking a look at how we're using it and what might need to change.
I talk about:
3 questions to evaluate how you're currently feeling about social media
Steps to take to evaluate how much you are on your phone & how make change to align that to our values
A bunch of tips to help you get there!

The word productivity usually scares me away. It feels like another way I don't measure up or another way I can feel "not enough" if I don't check all the boxes. When I stumbled upon Tonya Dalton's message in her newest book JOMO, I learned that true productivity shouldn't feel like that - and it includes creating space for what you love in your days and actually enjoying your life. Much different from the message of productivity being the "always busy" image so many of us have in our heads. Today, Tonya and I talk about:
-Her new book, The Joy of Missing Out
-Why the culture of busy is dangerous
-What true productivity looks like
-What it looks like to create whitespace in your days
-Whitespace in your days with your kids
-How to begin creating time for whitespace.

On Minimal-ish, we like to talk about the things that matter and making room for the things that matter. Throughout August (and some of September) we'll be focusing on work & school, two things that matter, and that we can find purpose in when we get intentional about our roles and choices in these areas of our life.
So far we've talked to work at home moms, full time working moms, and today, we're focusing in on the work of homemaking and stay at home motherhood. We'll talk about ways we simplify work at home motherhood, and we'll also talk about finding purpose in our roles of stay at home motherhood. We even talk about ways we can care for ourselves when so much of our focus each day is on our children.
My guest, Celeste, has a perspective on homemaking and motherhood that any mom can resonate with, and she also works from home as well, so her perspective branches out into the work at home mom life as well.
Most of all, Celeste is just a JOY FILLED person! I left our conversation feeling so positive and happy, and I think you'll feel the same after you listen in to our conversation! She's honestly such a light and I absolutely loved chatting with her!

I talk a lot about aligning our days to our priorities and crafting our days around what matters. I believe this is key in living intentional, purposeful, happy days.
But what happens when one of our priorities starts to fall to the back burner? This will inevitably happen as we're not perfect (and we shouldn't strive to be!).
When it does happen, I believe it's important to reflect and re evaluate why this is happening and how we can move this thing that we claim is important to us back into focus. Again, it doesn't have to be perfect, but we do want to work towards purpose. As I reflected on this myself, I realized there were three different reasons this was happening for me. Today I'm sharing these reasons and ways we can combat them and move whatever has fallen out of focus back to it's rightful place in our life. ----

Today I'm giving you a short episode all about how I became a happier mom. I talk a little bit about the anxiety that plagued me in the beginning of motherhood, and how I believe happiness is a choice in so many ways- and the number one thing that has helped me choose happiness. This episode doesn't mention minimalism or decluttering or anything of the sort- but it's more about simplifying your mindset. Simplifying the negative dialogue in your head. And leaning into who you truly are. This was a message that I felt on my heart and I just had to write down & record as I felt it weigh heavy on my heart- so I hope it speaks to you in some way. I do mention my faith a little bit in this episode, but just know that this message (or any message on this podcast, ever) is for everyone. I never intend to push you towards a certain faith or belief system. Insert whatever is relevant to you- I mention my faith at times because it's a large part of who I am. But whoever you are is more than enough, too. Links: -Podcast Instagram -Podcast Website

Today I'm talking about a topic I'm super passionate about- living slower. I talk a bit about the reasons for slowing down, and encourage you to think about your life and your schedule, what it looks like vs. what you'd like it to look like. I also encourage you to say no, to find margin for rest in your days, and to take control of your days by slowing them down.
I believe this message can be for anyone- whether you're single or a mama of 7. We can all find a way to slow down, it's just a little counter cultural to do so.
In this episode, I suggest a book to you, so here's the link to the book: Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner.
