Jaroslav Honzik, aka Jardier, entered some races in the Czech Republic 18 years ago. But, his motorsport dream ended there, until earlier this year, when he put his (and sponsor's) money where his mouth is and went for his dream - a season of touring car racing.
Competing the Clio Cup, Jardier still adores Assetto Corsa, in particular Assetto Corsa Competizione. Naturally, we also discuss what the future may hold for ACC, but also hopes and dreams for Assetto Corsa EVO.
All this, and more, in the latest episode of the Traxion Podcast, plus we answer your questions.

But, EVO is much more than that.

Max Esterson grew up in New York City playing Formula 1 video games, and latterly, iRacing. He didn't kart for a decade.
Yet, here's racing, and winning, in GB3 - the UK's premier single-seater championship, on the ladder to Formula 1. He aims to compete in FIA Formula 3 next season and has backing from the sim racing subscription-based platform.
If you've seen the Gran Turismo Movie, well Esterson is working the sim-to-real career, but without winning a reality TV show competition. Just raw talent, guile and passion.
In this episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast, Thomas Harrison-Lord is joined by Piers Prior - who is not only part of the Traxion family but co-commentates and co-presents the GB3 championship - find out what makes Esterson tick, his lofty ambitions and how iRacing has supported his efforts.

A Traxion Podcast interview with Senior Creative Director at Electronic Arts, Codemasters, Lee Mather – who’s responsible for the official Formula 1 game’s direction each year.
Mather has worked on the F1 games since 2008, spanning a 15-year stint. We asked him about his time working on the yearly motorsport titles, but also what the thinking was behind the F1 World game mode, if we’ll see more Braking Point in the future and how the new car handling was developed.
We also touch upon the importance of esports and league racing, and the company’s plans to implement anti-cheat measures. Will classic cars ever make a return? Is My Team and Driver Career still important for the franchise? Are we to expect more limited-time liveries?
All of these key questions are answered – but of course, be sure to leave your F1 23 feedback in the comments below!

John Munro spoke to Job at the team's Milton Keynes base to hear what it's like working with an F1 outfit and also the differences between sim racing and motorsport simulation.
Are there transferable skills? Did his work affect real-world set-ups? Can we have a go too, please??

On this episode of the Traxion Podcast, Thomas Harrison-Lord is joined by Ben 'Rwaggy' McConnell of 505 Games, where he is the Brand Community Manager for Assetto Corsa.
They discuss how Assetto Corsa Competizione gets ported to console and why it's so important for 505, Untold Games and KUNOS-Simulazioni. In particular, the date (27th June 2023) for the Version 1.9 physics update, free McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and paid-for 2023 GT World Challenge DLC will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
So, if you've ever wondered how one of the most-popular sim racing experiences makes it outside of PC and why the gap between PC and console updates is diminishing, give this episode a listen.

On this episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast, we are joined by Jean-François Chardon, Head of Studio at KW Studios, responsible for RaceRoom Racing Experience.
He’s worked at what was formerly SimBin Studios, then Sector3 and now KW Studios since 2009, so this interview is hopefully interesting for those who’d like to know more about RaceRoom’s story and are part of the cognoscenti.
We also hear about a prior Unreal engine prototype and how the platform is now in a strong place for the future, with the investment needed to hire developers and a clear plan for revised UI, ranked multiplayer and a content roadmap.
The team is even investigating a new graphics engine as it commits to the long-term evolution of the platform. We even touch upon the now-failed GTR3 project and how it impacted development.
This, then, is why RaceRoom is one to watch in 2023 and beyond, with host Thomas Harrison-Lord.

David Karapetianm, aka Dave Gaming, has over 200,000 YouTube subscribers and 90,000 Twitch followers and primarily creates F1 game content, whether that’s the driving games by EA Sports or the management titles by Frontier Developments.
There’s no one better to ask about the current state of Formula 1 gaming, his favourite titles to date and what EA SPORTS F1 23 and F1 Manager 2023 must do in order to succeed.
His content is primarily in German, but in this English-language interview, Thomas Harrison-Lord gets to the bottom of Dave Gaming’s rise to prominence, his ‘go niche go big’ mantra and where his passion for the sport comes from.

Is version 1.9 a step forward? Will ACC continue to receive support? What’s it like creating a sim racing community? Jardier reveals all.
On this episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast, Thomas Harrison-Lord speaks to Jaroslav Honzík, aka Jardier, about his sim racing content creator and esports career, but also, crucially, what the future may have in store for Assetto Corsa Competizione.
While Jardier does create content about, and stream playing, iRacing, Richard Burns Rally and rFactor 2, he’s known for his ACC racing, community events and SRO-based competition. He’s the 2021 Alpine Esports champion to boot.
So here, we discussed the hard work and dedication it takes to reach 100,000 YouTube subscribers, whether league and race-finding services are good for sim racing and what he’d like to see next from Kunos Simulazioni.
We also touch upon his recent Alpine GT4 test at Magny-Cours and why it’s been difficult to bounce back from the taste of real-world motorsport.

Ever wondered what a racing driver really gets from sim racing?
So often all we hear about is being able to learn the tracks, but those in the know realise it can be much more than that.
Which is why we spoke to Cooper Webster at Donington Park recently, as the young Aussie motorsport competition prepares for his season ahead. A real-world competitor, he’s also an avid, competition, sim racer.
He will be participating for Evans GP in the GB4 championship this year plus the Australian S5000 championship, while simultaneously being an Oracle Red Bull Racing Esports driver – currently competing in iRacing’s Porsche Esports Supecrup competition.
There’s no one better to gain sim racing/motorsport crossover from, so that’s exactly what we do in this podcast episode, alongside catching up on his career path and esports exploits.

On this episode, we are joined by Andrew Jeffreys, aka Repixel8, and Jon Wetherall from CGA Studio to talk Formula Retro Racing: World Tour.
So often, we take the racing game and sim racing scene a bit too seriously. Formula Retro Racing: World Tour is a vivid, approachable, retro driving title that harks back to the arcade cabinet.
It’s just simple fun, but with contemporary features, such as virtual reality and online leaderboards.
With Andrew the solo developer of the 2020 original, he and CGA have partnered up for a 2023 sequel, and it’s this we’re discussing.
Full disclosure, this was recorded a month or two ago, since this conversation the game is available now on PC, Switch and Xbox, with PlayStation following in April. We did encounter some internet challenges too, which we’ve tried to edit around.
So, without further ado, how Formula Retro Racing: World Tour was created and why you should check it out.

In this episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast, we’re going behind the scenes of the upcoming motorcycle simulator, TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3.
To bring you up to speed, this is the official game of the yearly real-world road racing event which is world-renowned for the skill and bravery of the riders and also the 37.73 mile or 60.72km course.
This third game is developed by RaceWard Studio, part of NACON Studio Milan, who previously created RiMS Racing – a road motorcycle simulator released in 2021.
We visited the Italian studio recently to speak to the team behind the upcoming title and also TT competitor Davey Todd, gaining insight into its development and certain design choices.
Make no mistake, this is a brave game with some surprising features. The full Snaefell Mountain Course, laser-scanned, is present and it aims to be an accurate representation of the event.
But, you can now traverse over 200kms of island in-between events and compete in optional challenges in the open-world environment.
Joining us are:

We’re back, with a brand new season, and we have a lot coming up for you so thank you for listening!
Join Thomas Harrison-Lord, Editor in Chief of the Traxion.GG website as he speaks to Mark Pierce, Executive Producer and Emmanuel Valdez, Art Director, from developer Visual Concepts South.
In this episode, we discuss their brand new driving game, targeted at families: Lego 2K Drive.
It’s open world, coming soon to both PC and console, features cross-platform online multiplayer, can be played online or via couch co-op and will hopefully appeal to a younger audience, but parents and grizzled racing games fans alike.
We’ve been hands-on with an early preview build of the game at 2K’s London offices recently, hence this discussion, but also a full article on the Traxion.GG website and video on our YouTube Channel.
It’s quite the departure for 2K, who hasn’t been active in the racing game scene for several years, and developers Visual Concepts, who usually make the WWE and NBA games. But here, you will be able to understand how it hired a brand new team for this LEGO game, the first in a multi-title deal.
LEGO 2K Drive releases on 19th May 2023 for PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.

Joining Thomas Harrison-Lord today on this episode is Xavier Pieuchot, Product Marketing Manager at Thrustmaster.
It’s been a big month for the gaming and simulation equipment manufacturer, as its first-ever direct drive wheel base – the T818 – was launched and shipped to its first customers.
Here at Traxion.GG, we were lucky enough to receive one of the first loan units for review. But, we wanted to get deeper under the skin of the T818 and see why the American-French company chose now as the time to enter the increasingly competitive direct drive market, which has quickly become the expected technology for sim racing.
We cover its launch, development process, why it’s manufactured in France and console support.
Is this the most pivotal moment in its 32-year history? Let’s find out…

On this episode, it’s the festive period, so we hope you are enjoying at least a day off to put your feet up. With this in mind, today’s conversation is a little less formal and a bit more relaxed.
Joining Thomas Harrison-Lord to discuss the future of rally games is Autosport and Motorsport.com’s WRC Editor Tom Howard.
We regale our experiences with the most recent World Rally Championship game, Generations, then look ahead to what we’d like to see in 2023 when EA Sports’ first official WRC game releases.
Tom also recounts the time earlier in the year when he was Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team driver Takamoto Katsuta’s co-driver for a stage in a current Rally1-spec Yaris.
As you can tell, we’re both rally fanatics or bobble-hatters. So, the conversation flows into the rally cars we’d like to see more of in gaming and simulation. You have been warned, we get a bit excited...

Williams Esports carries the distinction of being Wiliams Racing’s only form of motorsport outside of Formula 1. The team competes in the pinnacle of single-seaters and racing esports. That’s it.
It shows just how intrinsically important virtual racing is to the Grove company, originally founded by Frank Williams in 1977.
Now under Dorilton Capital stewardship, its esports squad is pushing the limits of what’s achievable in sim racing – both in terms of the sheer quantity of events participated, but also driver training, education and media assistance.
It's these three aspects we wanted to dive deeper into. Yes, the team has found success across platforms such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione and even Rocket League, but it’s also investigating new ways of nurturing talent that pushes the whole environment forward.

There's no other driving game quite like Intertial Drift.
The vision of Michael O'Kane, and developed alongside Tom Mathews, aka Level 91 Entertainment, the two-person team launched the twin-stick drift title in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Following some free car additions in the latter stages of 2021, the game is back with a new Twilight Rivals downloadable content pack, and a Twilight Rivals Edition that includes the DLC plus 4K resolution and up to 120fps for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The new content and new versions arrived on the 15th November 2022, published by PQube. Ahead of the launch, O'Kane joins us from Belfast to discuss the title's origins, its fanbase and what's in store next.

Joining Thomas Harrison-Lord today is Jimmy Broadbent, over 800,000 sim racing and motorsport YouTube subscribers and counting.
The pre-eminent virtual racing content creator is here to discuss his Praga exploits this season, but also his live sidecast on AMP during Formula 1 weekends, Fast & Loose, the current state of F1 games and the struggle to create popular, relevant video content.
This was recorded before the Praga Cup final at Donington Park, but we were able to speak to him and his team-mate Gordie Mutch during that championship-winning weekend, and that’s also available right now as a bonus podcast.
We’ve previously spoken to Jimmer earlier in the year for his pre-season thoughts, and there are many interviews out there about his shed-dwelling days, so without further ado, Jimmy Broadbent on where he’s at, right here, right now and then listen to the follow-up episode from Donington.

Joining us this week is the founder and CEO of Trak Racer, Matt Sten, the global – of Australian origin – sim racing and flight simulator accessory manufacturer.
It has partnerships with the Alpine Formula 1 team and Airbus, and perhaps is best known for creating cockpits and wheel stands for those who want to take their virtual racing that bit further.
We’ve reviewed its TR8 Pro Cockpit and FS3 wheel stand on the Traxion.GG website and YouTube Channel before.
I wanted to gain an insight into the racing video game peripheral market, and how Trak Racer has grown. But, also, what it plans to do next. This is well worth a listen, as Matt gives us the lowdown on its next big move – electronics.
Trak Racer will have software, a load cell pedal set, shifters and handbrakes, so it’s going big on sim racing.

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest’s 24 Hours Hours of Le Mans will celebrate 100 years since its first running in 2023, but before then it will also honour its third ever 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual race too.
On the run-up to the big racing esports event – which will see over 40 cars, across two categories, driven by 140 competitors – there is also the Le Mans Virtual Series, organised and run by Motorsport Games and the ACO.
Yes, the same Motorsport Games group that Traxion.GG is part of, albeit editorially independent.
I visited its Northamptonshire esports bunker to go behind the scenes of the opening championship round – the 8 Hours of Bahrain.
Joining us on this episode are several team members, explaining before and during the event, what their roles are and how the team works together to deliver a professional broadcast.

Paulo Gomes, Studio and Game Director at Saber Porto is joining us today. It’s developing the upcoming racing game and simulation Dakar Desert Rally, and we had a chat at the Gamescom show recently.
Hopefully, you’ll be able to gather Paulo’s passion and dedication for this project, a brand new officially licenced title for the real-world Dakar rally raid.
Set in an open-world Saudi Arabian environment, it mixes five vehicle categories – truck, car, motorcycle, quad bike and SSV – plus the past three seasons of competitors within Sport, Professional and Simulation modes.
The game launches on 4th October for PC, PlayStation and Xbox and we’ll hopefully have a full review and final verdict soon. For now, though, let’s hear more about its genesis.

We have six guests on this week’s episode, as we visited Milton Keyes in the English Midlands, the home industrial estates and dual carriageways, but also the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team.
At its base also lives the Oracle Red Bull Racing Erena, where the drivers for the upcoming F1 Esports Series Pro Championship have been training ahead of the upcoming season.
In this episode you’ll head from Red Bull Racing drivers Marcel Kiefer, Frede Rasmussen and Liam Parnell, followed by the new-look Scuderia AlphaTauri Esports line-up of Sebastian Job, Joni Törmälä and Josh Idowu.
We’ll go through each driver, so you have insight into professional-level preparation for the world’s biggest racing esports competition.
We start with Marcel Kiefer who returns once again to the Oracle Red Bull Racing Esports team, which finished second last season and is looking to reclaim the team’s title.
Apologies, in some of these interviews there is the sound of some competitive table football in the background, hopefully, you can hear past that, however.

On this episode of the Traxion.GG podcast we are joined by Morris Hebecker, CEO and Co-founder of new sim racing platform RENNSPORT.
In this interview hear confirmation that the latter feature is not an NFT or blockchain-based venture and how you will be able to play an early build of this game sooner rather than later.
Think of it as a brand new driving game that simulates racing, aiming to be the next Assetto Corsa Competizione or RaceRoom Racing Experience. It is unique, however, built by a new studio using proprietary handling models mixed with Unreal Engine 5.
It’s PC-only for now, with a targeted release date before the end of 2023 including ranked online racing and VR support. The platform will also try to deliver a fresh take on racing esports through an ESL partnership, while simultaneously offering some form of mod marketplace, allowing content creators to earn revenue.

Joining us today on the Traxion.GG Podcast is Jarno Opmeer, one of the quickest sim racers in the world.
He’s a two-time, back-to-back, F1 Esports Series Pro champion and a Mercedes-AMG Esports driver. Earlier this year he won the eRace of Champions event and just wrapped up the Premier Sim Gaming League title for the fourth time.
His career so far isn’t the normal route, coming from a karting and Formula 4 and Renault Academy motorsport background. Since then, he’s 100 per cent focussed on sim racing and has a successful online content creator following to boot.

Joining us today on the Traxion.GG Podcast is the BMW’s Head of Sim Racing, Rudolf Dittrich.
Dittrich has worked for BMW’s M Motorsport division in the past, his last role before stepping into the virtual racing world being Head of Vehicle Development.
On this episode, he explains that BMW believes sim racing to be another branch of motorsport and equally as important to the business.
The prevalence of BMW vehicles in racing games and sims is no coincidence, therefore, with BMW cars and motorcycles appearing in diverse titles such as Ride 4, RiMS Racing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, RaceRoom Racing Experience, rFactor 2 and even mobile game Real Racing 3.
BMW’s commitment to sim racing is also underlined by its technical partnership with sim racing peripheral manufacturer Fanatec, thanks to the co-development of the BMW M4 GT3 racecar’s steering wheel. This is all part of BMW’s drive to engage with younger audiences and promote BMW products through the positive medium of esports and gaming.

Lee Mather has been working on the F1 games now since the very first one created by Codemasters, F1 2010. With over a decade’s experience working on these titles, we thought there was no one better to discuss F1 22 with.
In this chat, we will discuss some key elements, like who made the VR functionality, how the online cross-platform multiplayer will work and how the development team is structured to create large yearly games.
We talk about the big new F1 22 features too, of course, but I hope you gain additional insight into the game’s creation.
A quick note, the was recorded before we went hands-on with an early work in progress of the game, but we do have in the show notes a link to several articles on the Traxion.GG website and videos on the YouTube channel with further details and our impressions.

In this episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast, we dig into the mind of possibly the world’s quickest Gran Turismo driver, Valerio Gallo.
For those who aren’t aware, the Rome-based Italian won the FIA Nations Cup World Championship last year, which followed the inaugural Olympic Virtual Series crown.
These accomplishments were in GT Sport, which also netted him an appearance within Gran Turismo 7 and the opportunity to race against Sony AI’s pioneering Gran Turismo Sophy.
What I hope you glean from this episode is what it takes to compete at the pinnacle of racing esports – no matter the platform – and how anyone who finds the right virtual racing community can take the next level to push themselves further.
Also, Shuffle Races.

In this latest episode of the Traxion.GG podcast, we are joined by none other than Jimmy Broadbent – the leading sim racing online content creator, former shed-dweller and now also a real-world motorsport competitor.
He’s currently competing in the 2022 Praga Cup for Fanatec Praga Team 87 alongside Geordie Mutch and the duo are sitting second in the standings after a podium at Oulton Park recently.
We talked here at Silverstone in the Praga paddock on a cold day of pre-season testing, hence why the audio isn’t quite up to our usual standards. Mortiz Löhner has made a successful leap from sim racing into real-world motorsport - and you can too. No, really.

Rudy van Buren has twice finished on the podium this season in the highly competitive Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, but his career path to this point has been far from conventional.
Starting out in karting, Rudy then focused his effort on sim racing, where his natural talent shone through. This culminated in two GPVWC titles in 2017, the Superleague and International Touring Cup and winning the inaugural World's Fastest Gamer competition to become the McLaren F1 team's simulator driver for 2018.
The 29-year-old Dutchman came third in the GT Pro Series and become a Mahindra simulator development driver in 2020 - a role he still holds today, with aspirations of having a test soon.
In our latest podcast episode, Thomas Harrison-Lord speaks to the talented esports and motorsport competitor on the differences between sim and reality.

Joining us this week on the Traxion.GG podcast is Jack Basford, founder and CEO iGP Games, creator of iGP Manager – a leading single-seater management game.
Originally released back in 2011, the free-to-play online-league-based title is available via any web browser, or through PC, iOS and Android apps, all of which synch together. Earlier in 2021, a new 3D race feature was added to the game too, and the development team continue to evolve the platform.
We speak to Jack about how he still innovates, over 10 years since the original launch, and what the future is for iGP Manager. We also chat about other games he enjoys playing and his former motorsport experience.
Listen to the latest episode to find out about this innovative experience and why you should check out the game.
Hosted by Thomas Harrison-Lord and Justin Sutton.

Last week, Motorsport Games spoke to IGN about the upcoming NASCAR game, the first in an all-new series that replaces the existing NASCAR Heat franchise.
Utilising the tyre and handling physics of PC-sim platform rFactor 2 and the Unreal game engine for graphics, a selection of static images has been revealed showing off the new look and additional attention to detail.
Not much else has been revealed, other than the working title of ‘NASCAR 21’ and the inclusion of a detailed paint booth for customer paint scheme creation.
Joining us this week is NASCAR expert and journalist Justin Melillo to comb through the finer details of the details, plus a look back at the Heat series and a current round up of official NASCAR content within existing titles.
Think of this as a current NASCAR-in-gaming state of play plus our hopes and dreams for the upcoming release.

The biggest feature of the F1 2021 game is arguable the all-new Braking Point narrative-led mode.
Playing through a story that mixes cinematics, incidental details and gameplay challenges, you take on the role of young upstart, Aiden Jackson, as he progresses from Formula 2 to a midfield Formula 1 team.
You get to select from one of five F1 teams to partner with and joining you as an experienced teammate is Casper ‘Cas’ Akkerman. It’s not just two characters though, as antagonist Devon Butler from F1 2019 makes a comeback, and there’s also Zoe Akkerman and team liaison Brian Doyle to deal with.
In this episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast, Thomas Harrison-Lord and Rich Hutson discuss the highs, the lows, the good, the bad and whether overall, they would recommend playing this new story.
Here’s a very mild spoiler warning, but not key character or story elements are discussed, mainly mechanics and overall sentiment.

We enlisted YOUR help to decide the racing games YOU think should return. In this podcast episode, we discuss the games that the Traxion community replied with upon asking the question.
From Diddy Kong Racing to Ridge Racer and everything in-between, we had a shedload of incredible answers that sent us straight down memory lane, and some that resulted in a quick Google search as we frantically tried to remember obscure titles from the past...
We discuss some of the answers that caught our eye, and then run down the top-seven games that Traxion followers voted for.

It’s been a long journey, from Early Access back in 2018, to PS4 and Xbox One versions in 2020 and finally – for now – the British GT DLC in 2021, but Assetto Corsa Competizione seems to be in the form of its life right now.
With extraordinarily active player counts, and next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X version slated for later in the year, this latest episode of The Traxion Podcast explores why such a serious game that only includes one slightly obscure racing series has become such a smash it for developer KUNOS-Simulazioni and publisher 505 Games.
If you’re already playing it extensively, we discuss the highs and lows and if you have not yet tried it, then let us regale you with tales of why it is so good.
Hosted by John Munro, with guest Thomas Harrison-Lord.

We’re back with a brand new episode of the Traxion.GG podcast, and this week we discuss games that have aged like a fine wine.
Dodgy episode title aside, this is pertinent, as we live in an age where games are updated, refined, patched and added to post-launch, which means that the original Metacritic becomes less and less relevant.
‘Games as a service’ is a term that exists. Some simulators work on a subscription basis. Games have a second life beyond the initial release.
So, here are just some games that we think fit the bill as something that has got better with age. Like Ryan Gosling or Sienna Miller, but in video game form.
Be sure to let us know some games that you think have got better the older they become and we may revisit this topic in a future episode.
Hosted by Justin Sutton, with guest Thomas Harrison-Lord.

E3, the biggest gaming media event of the year is upon us! Following the Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live, the extended Traxion team discusses what to expect as racing game fans from the event.
Sure, the Covid-19 pandemic has clipped its wings a bit, no press or public within giant theatres celebrating gaming robs us of some atmosphere, but there will still be a long weekend packed full of live streams, updates, DLC and fresh game reveals.
We cover Koch Media, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Nintendo and more, plus the NACON Connect and EA Play Live which are happening in July.
What racing games do we expect? Will there or won’t there be a new Forza? What about Mario Kart? Listen to the latest episode of The Traxion.GG Podcast and then see how wrong, or right, we are next week.

Jon Armstrong is a busy person. Alongside competing in the 2021 Junior World Rally Championship alongside co-driver Phil Hall for the Codemasters DiRT Rally Team, he’s also a game designer at Codemasters during the week.
For those who perhaps aren’t aware, Jon starting rallying and working is way up the championships, competing in Ireland, the British Rally Championship, the Junior European Rally Championship, and then onto the Drive DMACK Cup and the WRC 2 competition.
But then, faced with the difficulty of raising the budget required to compete at the very top of rallying, he turned to esports, winning the 2018 (and finishing second in 2019) WRC esports competition. This then led to working on the later stages of DiRT Rally 2.0 development, a full-time role at the company and now the opportunity to compete on the world stage once again.
The season is going well too, winning the first JWRC round on the Croatia Rally. With all of that in mind, we talked to Jon on this latest podcast episode, discussing his early career, sim rallying and his curent JWRC season so far.
Wreckfest, the game that keeps on giving us plenty to talk about. It’s very, very good… but why?
Well, we’ll get into that now, I suppose. Presenting the latest episode of The Traxion.GG Podcast, all about Wreckfest.
The title recently re-released on PlayStation 5, and it’s got us all back in our feelings for one of the greatest racing… err… crashing games out there.
Agree? Disagree? Let us know what you think about Wreckfest in the comments below.

Unpopular opinions are the popular topic this week in the latest episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast, and we’ll be giving our hot takes regarding some of your favourite racing titles on the market, as well as general beliefs in the racing game world.
We’re out to hurt feelings this week, so we truly hope you disagree with us.
Disagree or not, let us know your opinion in the comments below. Also, feel free to share any bad takes you might have, after all, we did put ourselves out there…

We all love a great arcade racing game, right? Using power-ups, bashing off walls, drifting to victory. Or, do we?
Are we all enabling our best race face, complaining about track limits and tweaking our bump stop rates instead?
What about those games that fit in between the two?
Or, how about this for a revolutionary idea… you can enjoy all three types of games? This is what we propose in the latest episode of the Traxion podcast, alongside charting the rise of the simulator and the origin of the aforementioned terms.
Let us know in the comments below if you are a sim racer that also enjoys Mario Kart, or you play touch-based drag racing games on your phone and are also handy on rFactor 2.

In this week’s Traxion Podcast episode, we deviate from the usual theme and discuss the recent big news from the world of racing games, sims and peripherals. Hear the team discuss and speculate about F1 2021, Fanatec, WRC 10, Thrustmaster, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, MotoGP 21 and RiMS Racing are among the topics.
Traditionally, there is a news splurge for E3 around June for video games, with big titles releasing in March and then on the run up to the holiday season at the end of the year. But, in the racing community, April in 2021 seems to have been a big month, with new hardware, reveals and teaser trailers.
Which one of these announcements got you the most excited? Let us know on social media, search ‘TraxionGG’.
Andrew Wilson has a lot on his plate. There are the yearly Madden NFL, FIFA and NBA sports titles, the ever-popular free-to-play battle royale title Apex Legends, upcoming Mass Effect remasters, the EA Play subscription and the recent $1.2 billion purchase of British racing game studio, Codemasters.
Home to GRID, DIRT, Micro Machines, Formula 1 and Slightly Mad Studios, there is now a long list of racing game and sim franchises that are under EA’s umbrella.
So, in the latest episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast, we play fantasy CEO. If we were Andrew Wilson, what would we do with the Codemasters and current EA racing games? Will we bring back old classics, or push onwards with fresh titles?
Our team considers the possibilities, but we’d like to hear from you too. What would you like to see from EA and Codemasters? Let us know in the comments below.

How does a former graphic designer get to travel the world and talk about motorsport for a living?
Well, to answer that question we sat down for a chat with the only ex-designer-come-commentator that was free the other week – Andrew Coley.
The only person to commentate on every World Rallycross event held to date and part of the Extreme E team for the inaugural season, he oozes motorsport. His ‘mega’ style of describing what is happening for viewers is completely unique – you're on the edge of your seat even if there’s not much happening in the race.
We sat down with the enigmatic rallycross nutter to discuss his career, the current state of WorldRX, the future of rallying and how it all fits into the virtual world and esports. What camera angles does he use and how is life adapting from controller to a steering wheel? Watch to find out.
MEEEEEGA!!!!!
It’s a Monday and that means time for another episode of The Traxion podcast!
We hope you enjoyed our bonus episode last Thursday which saw Tom and Justin react to the F1 2021 launch. So for this week’s regular podcast episode, number nine in this season, it’s Tom and John. They discuss the differences between a ‘remaster’ and a ‘remake’ and how the lines are more blurred than ever.
Then they go through which racing video games they’d each like to be remade or remastered and get confused in the process. But that’s not all, if you’ve listened to this episode please let us know in our brand new comments section on the Traxion website which games you’d like to see get the 4K treatment. We’d love to hear from you! You can always leave a comment on YouTube below, too.

F1 2021, this season’s official Formula 1 game, has been revealed by EA and Codemasters and there is plenty to talk about – not least of which the title releasing on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC.
The lead feature seems to be Braking Point, a brand-new story mode featuring the return of Devon Butler who first appeared in F1 2019. That game was the first attempt by the F1 games to introduce a story, and while it was fun, it was over in a flash.
Tellingly, the trailer focuses purely on this element of the game. No gameplay or in-game screens have been revealed at this point, and the video is a snazzy CGI affair that hints at intense rivalries which will be against fictional racers Devon Butler, Aiden Jackson, and Casper Akkerman.
Last season’s game introduced the superb My Team mode where you could create your own team and rise through the ranks. There’s very little information in the way of any improvements to that for 2021, although its return is confirmed.
What is new, however, is a two-player career. Assuming this is online, you and a friend can play this either co-operatively or competitively. To us, that indicates being able to race through a career, but perhaps not My Team, on either the same or opposing teams.
The Algarve, Imola and Jeddah circuits are to be included, but as a free update post-launch. Speaking of free, there will be a free next-gen upgrade for those who purchase on either PS4 or Xbox One, further details on any exclusions are to follow.
Last of the ‘big ticket’ items is the ‘Real-Season Start’ which allows players to jump into a season that reflects the current live standings of the real-world F1 year. How that works if some of the tracks are being added later though, remains to be seen.
There are plenty of other smaller details, though, which you may see on the pre-order landing pages.
Alongside the standard edition, a Deluxe Edition will be available which provides three days early access and a suite of cosmetic bonuses. Of which victory radio calls are included and seven iconic drivers to “enhance you’re my Team game experience”. Both are very intriguing to us, and we hope to find out how these work closer to the release date.
Likewise, assist options, driver stats and multiplayer are said to be “refined”, but little is known about exactly how at this date. Split-screen, shorter seasons and F2 all return from the last game, but again, there’s no confirmation which F1 season is included at launch.
The game launches on all platforms on the 16th July 2021 – unless you order the Deluxe Edition for $15/£15 extra – and stay tuned as we’ll have lots of F1 2021 information and opinions coming very soon.
Forza Horizon 4, aka the game that keeps on giving. Created by Playground Games, supported by Sumo Digital, as we approach its third year on sale there are still monthly car additions.
On top of that, the game was recently released on Steam and an even larger PC audience can now experience the UK-based open-world racer.
All three of our podcast team have played this game recently, with Justin Sutton being our resident Forza Horizon 4 expert and leading us through why its appeal is so enduring but also, what could be improved in the future.
Let us know your thoughts about the game in the comments and as ever, you can also listen to The Traxion Podcast via Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts and Google Podcasts too.
KartKraft, a karting simulator currently in Early Access on PC, has been making waves in the sim community of late thanks to its staggering attention to detail and realistic driving physics.
Recently acquired by Motorsport Games, we spoke to the Director of Studio for the newly formed Motorsport Games Australia to learn more about the game's origins story, but also what the future holds.
Quite a lot it turns out. Wet weather, ranked online racing, a new circuit and assists for those new to the genre. Plus, maybe even console versions further down the line.
Listen to this latest Traxion interview to hear what it’s like to be a formerly independent game developer with an idea and how that dream is about to be realised.
A controversial topic, spurred on by the GT World Challenge using esports to form part of the Teams’ Championship points within 2021 and with many esports competitions previously offering real-world driving or training, we dive in head-first on the latest Traxion Podcast episode.
Does sim racing open more doors? Is there a genuine crossover between the virtual world and the real one? What skills are transferable, if any? To help navigate us through this potential minefield, our very own John Munro is a sim racer and a real racer – which is handy!
Please join the debate, we’d love to hear your thoughts, so please, comment below and let us know what you think. Will esports have a place on a traditional motorsport career ladder?

In this episode of the Traxion podcast, we’re here to discuss games that time has not been kind to. These are great racing games that were over-looked and now time has forgotten them.
Well, time might have, but us three nerds haven’t! This is a good one, even if we do say so ourselves, as we dip into the memory bank of nostalgia to each pick out two racing titles that deserved more.
We’d love to hear your thoughts, so please, reply on social media or in the YouTube comments what your favourite hidden gem racing games are – we’d love to know!

Juan Pablo Montoya’s motorsport achieves are varied and very well known. You are probably aware of them already, but just for the avoidance of doubt...
International F3000 champion 1998, CART series champion 1999, two Indy 500 wins in 2000 and 2015, seven Formula 1 race victories including the Monaco Grand Prix, two NASCAR Cup Series race triumphs, the Race of Champions, three 24 Hours of Daytona victories and an IMSA SportsCar Championship as recently as 2019. Oh, and of course, the 1993 Suzuki Swift GTI Championship.
Now he can add an interview for Traxion about esports and sim race to his glowing résumé. Watch as Juan Pablo discusses this year’s 12 Hours of Sebring, his upcoming return to the Indianapolis 500 and how sim racing compares to real life motorsports.
As we approach the start of another Formula 1 season, the Traxion team go back in time to discuss their favourite F1 game memories, spanning three generations of games.
The F1 games have a long and storied history, with titles on the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and GameBoy, plus the storied Grand Prix games on PC by Geoff Crammond. The full history of premier class single-seater motorsports deserves a separate podcast all to itself, but in this episode, we don the rose-tinted glasses to discuss our personal favourites and our earliest F1 video game memories.
Join us on this nostalgia trip. We'd love to hear your thoughts, so please, contact us via social media and perhaps propose your ideal pricing structure.

This is going to sting a little. But it's okay, only for 45 minutes or so.
You see, in the latest episode of the Traxion podcast, we discuss what we think are the best cars in games. We know, it's contentious and you definitely disagree with us.
This is why we put a little twist on proceeding. So, we each get to pick what we think is the best car in gaming, and then which cars we think are underrated, finally, we pick three that we think are OP.
We'd love to hear your thoughts, and we know you'd love to tell us them, so please get in touch via social media.
