What is awakening? If this question is alive in you, listen to my conversation with Ryan Burton. This is a deep dive. Ryan Burton, an awakening guide and meditation teacher, explains that awakening involves dissolving the self and dualistic perceptions, and is a cessation of the old way of seeing life.
I loved talking to Ryan as he was expressing from a place of wisdom with light humour, it made the conversation fresh.
We explored the nature of awakening, describing it as a shift from living in craving and dissatisfaction to experiencing profound peace and contentment.
Ryan shared his experiences with meditation retreats, describing moments of stillness and profound peace as foundational to his spiritual path. This path often involves personal suffering, which, in Burton’s case, included losing his father, leading him to deeper spiritual exploration.

This intense transformation can feel like a "dark night" or detox of the mind, body, and spirit. A lot is happening after the shift!

In the second part of the conversation, Christine Wushke shares about the early days of seeking, when she was in an office job thinking about Awakening and Enlightenment. She found solace in a used bookstore where she discovered Eastern philosophy books and felt supported on her path by always being given the next thing she needed.
We discuss the importance of micro shifts in everyday experience and how these small changes lead to a bigger transformation. The conversation shifts to the importance of being present in the moment and taking one step at a time. We discuss the concept of everything being interconnected, using the example of fascia in the body as a reflection of this idea. Overall, the conversation highlights the importance of being mindful and present in order to facilitate awakening, integration and healing.
Christine Wushke is a myofascial release expert, a certified yoga therapist, a registered massage therapist and a Hakomi practitioner with over 20 years of experience. Christine runs the Journey to Light Wellness Center and is the author of the book 'Freedom is Your Nature'. Christine’s effective techniques will help you build self-awareness, interoception and, most importantly, a loving relationship with your body. Her approach to helping people live in balance with their body, mind, spirit and the world around them is informed by the Eight Limbs of classical yoga, biotensegrity, her background in myofascial release and Hakomi, the latest neurodevelopmental research coming out of the scientific community, and her compassion for her fellow humans.
She is also passionate about making the profound benefits of mindful movement practice accessible across the diversity of human experience, including those with chronic pain, limited mobility and those who are not financially or culturally privileged.

Today I am talking to Todd and Pernille Lent Damore, a married couple, dedicated and inspired to share practical tools and teach 10 fetters in a unique way.
The teachings about the 10 fetters originate from Buddhism and are regarded as “The Noble Quest” however; you do not need to be a Buddhist to understand them or gain insight about them. You can easily learn them, reflect on them and actively make use of them in your everyday life.
Todd and Pernille Lent Damore are working together to create The Awakening Curriculum, a comprehensive path to Awakening. I had my third session with Alessandro where we delved into the experience of effortless being. During our conversation, we discussed the sense of being that is always present and never changes. We started by going through some questions and concepts, and later we focused on shifting our attention from the mind to the body and heart, where something gets revealed. In today's episode meet Eileen Day McKusick. We talk about awakening from a scientific point of view as she talks about our body system being an electrical system. Laws of nature and physics are working and can be observed. Electricity, magnetism, resonance, light and waves are the reality of our being. And even more, we can apply sound to tune up and restore our biofield and experience greater expansion.
Eileen Day McKusick is a pioneer in the fields of the human biofield, therapeutic sound, and electric health. What has a practice of self forgiveness and letting go got to do with awakening?
Joey Lott had a profound awakening experience, which was followed by depression and a dark time for six years. He shares his story of how he realised that there was nothing wrong with his experience and that self-forgiveness and letting go is a practice that makes a huge difference. Awakening is a process and the more you let go of tensions, contraction and old energies, the lighter and more playful your experince becomes.
Joey Lott is a fresh and well-respected voice, and he has been described as "a real treasure".
He draws upon his own experiences and struggles, writing and sharing with a touch of authenticity and sincerity that is rare. He also draws upon a wealth of experience communicating with tens of thousands of people by phone and email to understand the struggles of others.

Awakening is just a beginning. What follows the initial shift of perspective is a continuous opening to aliveness, to intimacy, to presence and peace that is beyond words and understanding. I talk to Adam about his journey as an individual and a teacher. We look at strong emotions as shame, guilt, remorse around being yourself and sexuality.
Adam Chakcsfield is a spiritual teacher who shares the openness of nonduality, the intimacy of love, and the aliveness of erotic life energy.
He grew up in England, but now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Adam first turned to spirituality and meditation after a series of profound psychedelic-assisted openings led him to the truth beyond all philosophies.
Adam began inviting his friends to do nondual inquiry with him and was amazed by the ease with which the direct experience of openness could be shared. In 2010, with Peter Fenner’s encouragement and support, Adam started to share nonduality with groups and individuals where he was living in rural Illinois. His work grew organically from there as Adam was invited to teach in nearby cities, then the San Francisco Bay Area, Canada, and Europe.
The way Adam supports healing and transformation has been greatly influenced by the heart-centered softness and full-bodied aliveness of Jeannie Zandi’s teaching. His retreats and private sessions bring loving awareness to the depths that reveal themselves as we become more intimate with our embodied experience.
More recently, Adam enjoyed a potent erotic opening after connecting with the teaching of the Somatica Institute. After training with Somatica, he began working with groups and individuals on erotic embodiment and intimacy, despite the way this crucial dimension of our experience is treated as taboo in most “spiritual” settings. Adam also created the Erotic Embodiment & Intimacy course to support people becoming free and empowered in the realm of eros and intimate relating.

Just a little side not about term “Gating”, that he uses. At Liberation unleashed and in my books I use a concept of the Gateless Gate. We refer to The initial recognition of the absence of a separate self as crossing the Gateless gate. Word Gating is used as a term for the initial awakening.

The story of Luchana' s life ended while having a guided conversation in the Liberation Unleashed forum. And that was it – the most simple and magnificent discovery ever – there never was a Luchana to begin with. Just life, as always, doing its thing. She is guiding with joy, love and softness, but she is also a little bit firm when it is needed.

In the second part of the self-inquiry questions series, we explore thoughts, their origin, how they arise, where the thoughts and images are perceived and if there is control over that.
During our conversation, Sarah has gained a deeper understanding of how thoughts arise independently, often triggering emotions and physical responses within her. She has come to realize that she does not actively choose her thoughts; they simply emerge on their own accord.
Sarah has also observed how her body reacts to certain painful memories or recurring thoughts, highlighting the connection between her mind and physical sensations. However, she has recognized that these thoughts and emotions are beyond her control. They arise spontaneously, without her ability to determine their content or timing.
Additionally, Sarah has noticed that her thoughts can manifest as mental images or visualizations, appearing on a metaphorical "mind screen" in her surrounding space. These thoughts and images seem to arise and dissipate autonomously, independent of her direct influence or manipulation.
