Living Tarot

On Episode 50, I wrap up season one of Living Tarot with some of the biggest things I’ve learned from reading tarot for myself and clients over the last few years. I really struggled with how to wrap up something that has been such a passion project for me but this felt the most natural.

I discuss how to cultivate intuition in little ways over time and the fact that it’s normal to struggle to trust yourself.

I speak to the fact that tarot is a tool that can easily help you build that intuitive muscle over time.

I got into details on reading for romantic relationships and what to do when you’re feeling overwhelmed or emotional and having a hard time getting a clear reading.

Ultimately developing intuition is really about learning to have faith in yourself and building it slowly over time.

Finally, I discuss some of my favorite guest episodes of the season.

On episode 35 of Living Tarot, I interview my friend Maureen Rozanski ( @thepeacefullyproductive ) .  Maureen is a unique mix of lawyer mind and life coach heart. After nearly 10 years of ignoring her intuition and practicing law, she pivoted into more meaningful, heart-centered work and founded The Peacefully Productive, a coaching practice specializing in supporting disconnected professionals to reclaim motivation, unearth clarity and gain a sense of peacefulness in all they do and all they are.

Developing her intuitive abilities has allowed Maureen to become an impactful coach, a more mindful friend and partner, and, in her opinion, a way less controlling and anxious human being. 

She believes her intuition is meant to be used to lift others up, create meaningful connections and to figure out how to live life most authentically - even when that means living in ambiguity or discomfort. 

• We speak about the importance of using intuition in whatever work you're doing. We discuss how Maureen's background as a lawyer led her to ultimately burnout and learn to pay attention to the cues that she was getting from her body and her energy.

What does it mean to be in a hierophant year? What does it mean to embody hierophant energy?

In this episode of Living Tarot I speak all about what it means to really embody the energy of the card of the year. The hierophant year is the opportunity for us to integrate the wisdom we've learned from the outside world with our own personal belief system. It requires us to be discerning about the places where we spend our money, time and energy and to pay close attention to what type of teachings we take as gospel.

Coming on the heels of an emperor year that has highlighted some issues with the sustainability of systems of oppression that are no longer working for the collective, the hierophant year of 2021 is really asking us to challenge the status quo.  It is a year for trusting lessons that we have learned in connecting with our own intuition and realizing that we are our own best teacher.

Ultimately we all contain multitudes of wisdom yet we tend to search outside of ourselves for validation and understanding of that wisdom. This hierophant year Is an opportunity to learn from ourselves and to trust that and moments of great turmoil and transition that we need to have that connection to our own wisdom.

Angie likes to describe her work in both areas as being a "detective of human behavior." Now as the leader of her own coaching company, Ignite CSP, Angie relies on her experience and intuition to make decisions about business, growth, personnel, and even how to select the ideal client. Her book, "Before You Say Anything," is coming out in spring of 2021. Angie and I discuss the importance of authentic communication. Communication is so much more than just what you're saying, it's how you say it, when you say it, and what information you deliver along with it. Angie uses her own brand of intuitive gifts to guide clients both one-on-one and in small group work, towards the most effective way to communicate presentations, ideas, or products.

It's no secret that running a business is hard. But running a business during a global pandemic, a social justice uprising, and an election year is damn near impossible. In this episode I discuss My experience and some of the biggest learnings from working through 2020 as an entrepreneur. 

I talk about managing burnout and chronic health issues. I also share some larger takeaways about the importance of focusing on the work that you love and focusing your work in general. It's never been more important to be strategic and intentional with the work that you're doing and the more focused you can be, the better outcome you're going to have.

I discuss how even as an intuitive person it can be hard to listen to intuition and to trust that the things that I want to do in my business will be the things that serve me best. I talk all about how I shifted my business to be more focused on business and career tarot reading and energy healing. I also speak to some of the fear that I had about letting go of long-term offerings and services that were popular but did not suit me this year.

I learned how to truly lean on my tarot and energy work practice as tools to keep me healthy and sane through the year.

I also discussed the importance of community and having an effective support system. You don't want to wait until you're in a crisis to find people that can help you stay grounded and healthy. Ultimately I'm a human before I am a business owner and taking care of my human needs has never been more important than it has been in this past year. I discuss some of the ways that I learned to take better care of myself and how you can too.

I hope this episode will serve as validation for your own feelings managing through this year and give you some insight into how to prioritize your own needs. self-care is a popular buzzword but it's also an integral part of being a human being. You have to take care of yourself first before you can take care of other people and your ability to do that affects how you show up for the people you love.

Her book “The Anatomy of the Aura” was released by St. Martin’s Press in April 2020. Eliza is the founder of The Golden Dome School, a curatorial and educational platform that studies intersections of art, metaphysics and ecology.

In the current environment so many of us are feeling overwhelming stress and anxiety due to the global pandemic, white supremacy and systemic racism, climate change, and an upcoming US election. For many people this is the most anxious they have ever been. Even people who are well resourced with their mental health are struggling. In episode 12 of Living Tarot, I talk about how to approach your tarot practice in daily life. There is a lot of information out there in internetland about how to effectively create your own tarot reading practice.  That much information can lead to overwhelm, anxiety and avoidance.  My goal in this episode is to give you some clear and concise ways to start incorporating your tarot reading into daily life.

• I give some pointers about daily card pools and how to ask effective questions that won't traumatize you.
• I also talked a little bit about goal-oriented spreads for your day or your week and how you can use the Tarot to help you more effectively achieve those goals.
• I speak to the importance of using Tarot as a tool in daily life when so many of us are feeling especially anxious and overwhelmed.

On episode 11 of Living Tarot, I interview Ash Alberg. Ash is a queer femme and fibre witch who seeks to create beautiful and practical products for fellow makers using sustainable methods. They seek to nurture the skills, knowledge, and creativity of fellow fibre witches to achieve their goals. ash is a natural dyer, knitwear designer, hedgewitch, and parent to the resident coven pooch, willow.  Ash and I had a beautiful conversation about the importance of managing your own energy levels and mental health and playing to your strengths in business.  We discuss how business plans and promoting yourself aren’t one size fits all, and how that can change the way you show up with your clients over time.

In episode 10 of Living Tarot, I interview Cate Mayer about her brand new initiative, Friends Vote Together. Born out of a conversation she had while phone banking for the upcoming election, Cate created Friends Vote Together to help people become not just more informed and engaged voters, but also informed and engaged citizens.In this episode, Cate and I spoke about how our friendship developed and how getting readings with me, keeping notes on them, and going back to them when ideas arise helped her find the confidence to take swift action on a brand new project. She created Friends Vote Together and had it up and running in just two weeks!! Friends Vote Together seeks to take the mystery out of voting and civic engagement. This intuitively created program helps increase civic engagement through pairing up with a buddy and suggesting weekly actions to take.

• Cate and I discuss how small steps can make a big difference especially when it comes to civic engagement.
• Cate also speaks about her experience of working with me through tarot and how our readings helped to give her direction and validation in career moves.
• We talk about how the buddy system helps with accountability.

This episode really stressed the importance of knowing when is the right time to get a professional tarot reading. I also discuss issues of self-worth and the challenge that can come up around investing in yourself on something that might seem unnecessary or that you can do yourself. What's really important to remember is that when we have too much buy-in to the outcome of a reading or too much emotion tied up in it it's very difficult for even the best readers to find clarity. Outsourcing your tarot reading to a professional shows tremendous wisdom and courage and it can save you a lot of angst. And I also talk about the importance of doing your research before choosing a reader and making sure that you understand the service that you are purchasing so that you aren't disappointed and you can get the maximum clarity through that tarot reading.

Episode 1 - An introduction to what it means to live intuitively and embody the tarot as well as a deep dive into my personal journey.  I talk about how I came out of the broom closet, what it was like opening up and what I’ve learned along the way.  From the scary and startling, to the exciting and enlightening, I talk about how each step has opened my eye to new opportunities.

I talk about my first mediumship experience, doubting my sense of reality, and learning to set rules and control my gifts, rather than letting them control me.  I discuss how my practice has evolved over time and what my current spiritual practice looks like and how my tarot reading and teaching practice works today.

Most importantly, I set the intention for this podcast to be not just my voice on intuition, but a variety of voices who talk about their experience
