This episode is a chat between hosts Jayde Couldwell & Chi Lo and father of twins Luke O’Brien on his journey with mental health. We talk about male postpartum depression and tips on coping, what to expect when expecting and how to better prepare for children. Luke opened up his heart to us on the difficulties of being a father of twins and the depression that came with it. His bravery in wanting his story to help others is something we are grateful to share.

Welcome to Episode 251 of Beyond the Bump!
This week, we’re diving into a topic that is often overlooked but deeply important—termination. We sit down with Laksmi Wilson to have an open and honest conversation about this complex decision, hoping it resonates with those who may have experienced it, know someone who has, or might face it in the future.
Termination is a deeply personal and difficult choice. We acknowledge the strength and courage it takes for women to make decisions about their bodies, health, and futures. Everyone’s journey is unique, and it’s not our place to judge, but rather to support and understand.
We hope this episode sheds some light on this under-discussed topic. Thank you for tuning in, and we hope you get something out of this episode!

Welcome to Episode 227 of Beyond the Bump! In today's episode, Nick and I took a unique approach as we delved into the mental load Fair Play Cards.
We'll provide a proper update on our progress once we've had more time with it, but I must say, it's already making a world of difference. Although having said this, my plants are looking a little limp, so we may need to redistribute that card (haha!). But aside from that, things have been going very well and I can’t wait to do this with Jayde and Harry soon.
It's important to remember that every family's dynamics vary, but our experience has been positive, and we're excited to share it with you. Here's to hoping you find it as beneficial as we have!

Welcome to Episode 223 of Beyond the Bump!
This episode contains honest, personal discussions about difficult emotions such as rage and anger. Motherhood provides plenty of experiences of joy, love and gratitude but it also contains frustration, exhaustion, anger and overwhelm among many other emotional states.
When we know that difficult emotions are an inherent part of motherhood, and being human, it can help us feel less alone or prevent us from experiencing shame. Emotions are an automatic response to internal or external stimuli. We don’t get to choose what arises but we can learn to work with what comes up and how to meet our needs to feel okay.
There were a few ideas shared on how to work with difficult emotions on this episode and there are plenty more in The Emotional Support for Mothers toolkit. However, we all know that the reality is that it can be hard to experience and make sense of these emotions on our own.
If you are experiencing persistent painful feelings you need and deserve love, care and support. Please contact your doctor to discuss how to get the compassionate support you deserve.

In our 126th episode of Beyond the Bump, we chat with Sara Bolitho from Secure Foundations. We've had Sarah on the poddy before where we spoke about body autonomy and speaking to our kids about consent (EP106 is you haven’t already listened!) However, this episode focuses purely on our kids' online safety.
Now we have to admit, this is episode quite a hectic one, and you may not step away feeling ‘lighter than you did before’, but it's still an important conversation to be had.
We know that there is some dark shit out there on the internet - that's no surprise to anyone. Our aim for this episode is to give people permission to use this information as they will; we definitely do NOT want to make anyone feel guilty if their kids have screen-time as we know how difficult parenting is and sometimes that is your only break for the day.
Trigger warning!! There are discussions about child abuse, online child abuse material and suicide, so if you're already feeling like you're in a very vulnerable position of parenting we give you complete permission to not listen to this episode - we will not be offended.

Our 79th episode of Beyond the Bump is a bit different - the main portion of it we are actually talking about Botox, which isn't particularly conception, birth, pregnancy, postpartum related.
We chat with Brooke, a cosmetic RN. She answers all your questions about Botox, is Botox safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding? Should you use Botox as a prevention or a cure? Who should you go to get Botox? Are there any long-term side effects of Botox? Does it hurt? And sooo much more!
In no way shape or form are we trying to pressure you into having Botox or thinking that you need to get it. We just like our listeners to be informed and we thought that this chat was extremely informative.
Brooke has a lot of knowledge in the industry, but the main reason we actually had her on the show was to talk about perimenopause. We just want to say that Botox and perimenopause are not related! It just so happened that Brooke has a personal experience of perimenopause, and she knows a shitload about Botox.

In our fifth episode of Beyond The Bump, we ask Dr Timmy (obstetrician, gynaecologist, fertility specialist and most importantly Sophie's dad) your requested questions! We were overwhelmed with your response when we announced that we would be interviewing Dr Timmy so due to the number of questions we have had to split this episode into two parts. If you haven't listened to part 1 of this episode, we recommend that you listen to that episode first. It covers what you guys wanted to know about pregnancy, labour and miscarriage. This episode is part 2, and Dr Timmy answers your questions about tears, caesareans, VBACs, fertility, infertility and postpartum.
