Brian is goading Richard once more and provokes him into an admission about some tickets he has bought. Blake has attachments. Do you ever calibrate your string bends? The guys talk about how they practice perfect bends. A feller smashed a guitar with a hammer and it made the news. Richard is upset that he didn't get invited to the party.

There's a new Phil X pedal out, the PX0, and the guys check it out and Blake gets frisky before Richard makes various strange claims. The guys also reflect on the recent passing of Kris Kristofferson and what it means not just to country music, but to the world of entertainment on the whole. 

The British King of Fuzz has been active and has breadboarded a new pedal. He made a number of noob errors and Brian had to help him whilst stifling his laughter. All is not lost, he finally created an awesome pedal, but there were many hiccups along the way.

Richard and Brian indulge in a ridiculous trade off of barely coded statements as a certain guitarist is banned from being mentioned. Blake ignores them roundly and tells us about his new vintage guitar purchase and Brian admits that he is finally beginning to love his Stratocaster...sorta. He has also been compared to someone and that has disturbed him but not as much as learning about UK licensing laws. 

Do you have any signature guitar moves you bust out on stage? The guys discuss how this is never a good idea at their age and Brian has never heard of a famous band. Meanwhile Keeley have launched an interesting new pedal which the guys love and Brian has got the new Neural Nano Cortex. He tells us all about how much he has - or hasn't - played it. 

Brian has some photography tips for anyone planning on doing something really silly with a pedal. We also deal with a number of listener questions including what the most embarrassing moment at a gig was, whether we will make a mini EGO 76, and will we make an analog uni-vibe? We have a rare musical treat as Brian and Blake serenade our listeners with a country ode to one of Brian's most favorite substances in the world...no not that one...or that one. He got a flat tire and Richard is shocked at his lack of preparation and surprised by a pedalboard with wheels. Richard has also received a brand new pedal and he is very excited by it despite is gargantuan size. 

Richard will be going to the ball! Yes - there is Gilmour news - he can’t contain himself or his vast knowledge of American geography. Brian destroys all his hopes and dreams. Deservedly so too. The guys got a sneak peak at the new Neural DSP Nano Cortex Modeler and chat about it and also the new update to the baby Line 6 pedal. There is unlimited confusion.

Fender have released a new amplifier in conjunction with Jack White and the guys check it out and are suitably impressed. Would you buy an extended warranty for your gear? The chaps discuss a new concept that Fender seem to be playing with and Brian makes an announcement. There was quite a well covered dispute on stage this week as the members of Janes Addiction threw punches so we close with a brief look at that.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 530 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian checks in with uncle Brad and is this the ultimate portable practice rig?
   
Brian is in cowboy mode and Blake tells us about his cattle rustling days. Brian tells us about how someone he know likes to try and wrestle sedentary bovine creatures - yes you read that correct. Richard is suspicious. Richard also has views about the new David Gilmour Album, Luck and Strange, and he can't wait to tell us. Brian is not thrilled. But it leads onto an interesting conversation about acrobatics vs feel in guitar playing.

There was other big news in the music world with the re-emergence of Linkin Park and the guys have a lot of views about this - especially Blake who grew up on their music - and it spins into an interesting and candid conversation about music in general. Somehow the Doors are involved too. The Wampler Tumnus got a little acclaim in a publication and the guys debate this and the mechanics of commercial songwriting.

Richard has tales of woe and, err, stagnant Guinness and regales us with his germ ridden views and does not invent anything at all. We open up with an international weather report from the guys and Brian tells us about his mini vacation that saw him make a wild return to nature. Kinda. The big news across the pond is all about Oasis (still) and their ticket prices so the guys debate the policy of surge ticket pricing and supply and demand.

Do you have an upper limit to how much you would pay for a concert ticket? Blake reached his when he went to see Pantera and Metallica with his kids and he tells us all about it. He has zero regrets. But he did make an interesting observation about the sound dynamics of the venue and breaks it down to the chaps. Brian talks about his home made hearing protection and Blake solicits the views of an audiologist. 

MXR have released another signature pedal and this one has magical powers - or so Richard believes - so the guys discuss this and a rather special Flying Vee. Brian is still in love with his Explorer. Richard had band practice and tells us about this and his new pedalboard. He discussed the problems he had with his amp's distortion, his memory, his love of the Gearbox, and his memory.

Brian is feeling somewhat civilized and Richard has a magical revelation. He is an idiot though. Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 525 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Sometimes the right song at the right time can impact you like nothing else...

Blake has been blessed with luck in the form of his son's predictive skills and so is immediately buying a lottery ticket. There have been other pedals released with Germanium components within and this also sparks some conversation. Those pioneers of pedal perfection, Electro Harmonix, have released a new POG. It looks insanely good so the guys talk about it and Richard makes a terrible Dad joke. 

Blake has a new vintage Gibson guitar acquisition and the guys dig in and discuss some of the electronic quirks and features. Richard wants a new guitar but he has a problem and tells us all about it. Aerosmith have announced the end of their touring career and this almost provokes a sensible discussion. Richard admits his awe for Hendrix. 

Brian has a proud Dad moment when one of his children makes a music based confession and it has made him very happy. This morphs into a conversation about the pull of music and how people have different emotional levels of involvement with it. Meanwhile, back on planet gear, Neural DSP have revealed details of the robotic device they created to capture amplifier settings more accurately.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 524 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Mine some more Germanium!   

Well it has been a week! We check in with the guys post the release of the Germanium Tumnus Deluxe and it's fair to say that said pedal is the main subject matter of the episode. We told everyone it was coming. It made no difference! The pedal sold out in record time and it caused some website availability issues and Richard and Brian talk about how they got through a crazy week. 

The guys recall other pedal special editions and Brian gives away some personal secrets before returning to the topic du jour. Richard details some of the server shenanigans and also talks about how stock levels are managed. Blake calls both Richard and Brian names, but they are pretty hardened to it, and gives some interesting statistical analysis of the music industry. 
 
There was predictably an almost immediate response by professional flippers so the guys are also duty bound to look into this. Richard got hold of another new pedal and gets the name wrong but he loves it and that's all that matters. It is the boost he has been looking for so he tells us all...

Richard notes an interesting horological coincidence and Brian gives us his views on aging. Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 519 of the Chasing Tone Podcast
 
Ai has finally gone to far and we have an Ai version of Brian and it causes some emotional distress. Brian also has a rubber device. Richard tells us about his first experience with IRs and IEMs in a band practice scenario. It was a a partial success. Richard also has purchased new gear, has learned some important new lessons, and Brian continues to hellishly rebuke him.

We've had some really interesting suggestions for 1980's themed shredding guitars and Richard talks about some of the candidates and it provokes reactions from Brian. Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 518 of the Chasing Tone Podcast
 
Blake has been standing to work for a long time and it is energizing him so the guys discuss the merits of office furniture. Yes, you read that correctly.  This turns into a conversation about how you apply Tolex correctly as Richard thinks about building his own amplifier.  Do you wait before you switch on the stand-by switch on your amplifier? The guys ponder this age old question.

Richard invokes a hellish rebuke from Brian when he tries to convince him that MIDI is the future for amplifier control and a robust and bizarre conversation ensues.  Richard has been thinking about digital modelling and Brian is not happy with him, but he and Blake also have some new gear and it somehow involves the Insane Clown Posse.  Richard is also worried about taking his favorite combo amplifier to gigs until his personal amp tech intervenes...

What size pick do you use when you play guitar? This question provokes a variety of responses from the chaps and Brian desires a new sponsorship.  Speaking of Brians, Brian May has just made a not particularly surprising announcement about a collaboration with Gibson. Richard makes bizarre confessions about his follicular obsessions. He is a mean and awful person and tries to explain British humor - badly.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 517 of the Chasing Tone Podcast

Welcome to late night module talk with Brian Wampler....no - wait that is another show...and Blake makes some extreme Sasquatch related confessions. Meanwhile Richard has a new hat and it is magnificent. Well, maybe it isn't but he loves it. He is also having middle aged band related problems and he shares them with us all.

The guys look at 1980's style guitars and weigh up the differences between the main contenders - Charvel, Jackson, Ibanez...and Kramer.  What's the correct number of pickups on a guitar for you? The guys don't know which way they fall on this - seemingly they simultaneously want one or three pickups - and Brian manages to steer the conversation to the guitar he wants.

Richard has a new amplifier from the fine chaps at ENGL and he is very happy and tells us all about it and Brian is not impressed with something Richard suggests and makes his feelings known before wondering if this maybe one of the greatest amps in the World?  Richard gets confused by the special special edition. Blake has some industry news about a well known brand and Richard butchers greek mythology.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 516 of the Chasing Tone Podcast

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 515 of the Chasing Tone Podcast

Blake is back from his cross-country vacation and he has tales to tell and the guys are almost approaching normality.  The Wampler Mofetta has been a hit with fans of "amp -like" pedals and Brian tells us why he loves it and Richard tells us about the origin of the name and the design. Wrestling celebrities may be involved.

Brian has been compelled to purchase a new amplifier and it has taken him by surprise and leads on to a discussion about branding and markets.  Somehow lightsabers and a nuclear bunker near Stone Henge are involved. Blake has been to Dollywood and Richard is intrigued and amused what this entails. Blake also saw a famous haunted guitar.

Richard has an idea to rejuvenate some old pedals and Brian immediately quashes his ideas before discovering that Maddog 20/20 exists. Richard tells us about a minor sports accident and how he discovered the ultimate palm sized travel amplifier setup. Brian asks about the differences between professional in-ear monitors and Apple earbuds and he also has some interesting views about Guitar Center.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by the legendary Jay Leonard J for Episode 514 of the Chasing Tone Podcast

We start off with some exclusive hair clipping tips from the super talented Jay Leonard J and this eventually turns into a discussion about gain clipping and Wampler's latest release, the Wampler Mofetta. Brian had an idea one day. He loved the Ibanez MT-10 Mostortion but wondered what would happen if he used MOSFETS for clipping. The Mofetta is the culmination of his rumination!

Brian, Max, and Richard are back for Episode 513 of the Chasing Tone Podcast

Our good buddy Max is back once again, as Blake is out of town on important string business, and he has a new job which causes some speculation before the guys chat about the gear they have been gassing over. Richard attempts to describe a form of small British boat and Brian is most confused by both Richard and Artificial Intelligence.

David Gilmour is going on tour and the British King of Fuzz tries to get tickets - and this leads to a discussion about ticket prices, free pedals, and naughty romps. Richard has been sent a pedal as a gift from an old friend and tells us all about it and he also has a theory about the re-release of a certain pedal. He is of course wrong.

Max and Brian discuss the classic Danelectro pedals and reflect on the used market for them and Richard has fallen in love with the new Thorpy FX WOPR purely for aesthetic reasons. Do you use an attenuator with your amplifier? The guys discuss the pros and cons of a few different models. Richard grills Max for dirt on Brian.

Brian is ready to welcome you all to the Tone Chasing show and this week the guys are joined by Scott from Stringjoy. Richard makes some 1980's related costume confessions and he may have found "his look". Brian has demands and Richard has requests. Brian makes a case for playing with his toys and not throwing them out of his sandbox - and gives us a sneaky listen into a new product he is working on. In completely unrelated news, our good buddy Jordan over at Poison Noises has made a new Reverb and Delay pedal and Richard loves the finish he picked for it. This leads Brian to reminisce wistfully.

Richard asks an important question about knob labeling and the guys debate it momentarily before Richard makes an awkward confession. He also tells us about how sometimes testing pedals can be a bit too enjoyable. Synergy have made a new module, the DRECT which is based on "that" high end Californian sound and the guys then talk about some of their favorite amps and Brian gets instant GAS. 

There was an early leak of a pedal and the guys skirt around it rapidly before reflecting on the sad news that Dickie Betts from the Allman brothers had passed away. There was a recent article about how male dominated the guitar world was and the guys dig in to it and on the way Richard discovered a new artist to get into. And it isn't that "Snake Guy"

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 510 of the Chasing Tone Podcast

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 509 of the Chasing Tone Podcast

Martinsville Lulu meets Portland Grunge and it is all the fault of solar activity as Brian experiences totality and Richard experiences Indianapolis live. The guys discuss their various eclipse experiences and there is some general foolishness all round. Oh boy, it's a wild episode I warn you now.

Brian shows off his cool guitar slide which makes for some unique and riveting audio material and Richard had his head turned by some LED infused guitar picks and a "herb" grinder shaped like a tone pot. Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 508 of the Chasing Tone Podcast

It's podcast day, and Brian has avoided being sucked into a funnel cloud, so we start the episode of with an extra dose of frivolity and nonsensical mutterings. There is camping talk and weather talk and Richard campaigns for moderate weather conditions. Wampler Pedals made a social media post involving Brian's take on the infamous Rockman and the guys chat about how it was created.

There were some great April fool's gags this year and the guys talk about some of their favorites and Blake tells us all about the one he was involved in for Gun Street Wiring. Richard makes an apology. There was a question submitted to the guys about buffers and the guys go deep into the weeds with it, the importance of impedance, and other general nerd topics. Brian redefines important technical terms.

Richard is a little nervous about an upcoming band rehearsal so distracts himself by talking about his pedalboard and the choices he made. Somehow this ends up back at a chat about the Rockman sound again and Brian makes musical impersonations. Blake shows Brian some vintage Bucket Brigade chips and he gets very excited. There's been some controversy with some deepfaking of guitar impresario and UFO enthusiast Rob Chapman and the guys debate it.

Brian learns a new technique for equipment usage and it shatters his mind. Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 503 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Richard has seen a film about the history of Amplifiers recently and he is dumbstruck that he is the only one of the trio that has even heard of it whilst Brian criticizes his accent. Richard also discusses a large legal issue facing Tik Tok and the use of certain music in their fun data mining social app. This turns into a discussion about AI video creation and a very poor Wonka based experience in Scotland.

Wampler are releasing a new pedal and Brian elucidates in a kind of random fashion. He may have leaked this pedal on another podcast recently but with some gentle prodding he goes into great detail. Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 502 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

It's DIY Tues.. (checks notes) Wednesday! Brian is recovering from an industrial strength sinus infection but braves the slings and arrows of his co-hosts as he brings us all the latest news from Martinsville and the pedal world! What is it that differentiates Metal from the other genres? Is it the tones or is it the riffs?  The guys try and figure it out but largely go off in different tangents.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 499 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Blake is back with us after an extended stint at NAMM and his voice is registering somewhere between Bane and Batman. Richard makes his feelings known much to Brian's amusement. Was this the best NAMM for several years? It sounds like it might have been and the guys chat about what this means for the guitar industry in general. Richard talks about some of the things he spotted including what he believes to be one of the world's biggest rude jokes. 

Brian has a new mixer and he and Richard have a new pedal - the Keeley Muse Driver - and they both love it.  Richard is a big fan of the design and tells us why. The guys try and pull a prank on Brian and it fails miserably so they make more NAMM observations. Brian loses his mind. Whats the first brand you would recommend to a beginner of the electric guitar? The guys ponder this very question and attempt to explain the internet badly again.

The British King of Fuzz was denied access to a certain pedal so he decides to make his own. He also tells us about why he is a very old man via a nostalgic trip to his hometown. Brian recently ran a video and asked viewers to guess a the identity of a very popular pedal and the results may surprise you. Victory amps have gone high end with their new release and the guys are very excited by this.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 498 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

We start off with some talk about the genetics of weightlifters and Ozzy Osbourne and somehow the two are related. Brian is looking forward to a week off from the world as he is not going to NAMM and Richard laments his lack of popularity.  His eye was turned by the new Keeley Muse Driver and completely fails to understand how it works. But he loves it.

Richard purchased the new EHX Golden Big Muff but is uncertain as to whether he made the cut - and you will have to wait until next week to find out whether he was successful. There is also a new pedal from Warm audio and the guys puzzle over how they avoid copyright issues before going on a completely unqualified legal debate.   

The Smashing Pumpkins have had to employ full time staff to deal with the guitarist applications they have received and the guys roundly mock this scenario. Joe Bonamassa had an unusual way of dealing with a noisy neighbour issue and this brings Blake much amusement. A recent article talked about the death of tube amps and the guys dig into this with some help from Brian's son.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 497 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Brian's recorded a new theme tune for the show and the guys are excited to share it with everyone before looking at some artificial unintelligence developments. Richard is not impressed with the underlying robotic signature or something. Whatever. He also tries to add some structure to the show with a special feature and it falls a little flat. Maybe.

What do you do with an LED with three legs? Richard needs some DIY advice and attempts to guess the weight of one of his co-hosts before coming up with a new product that frustrates Brian to the point of complete exasperation. This turns into a conversation about expensive cables and Brian has an idea.

Gibson have launched some new amplifiers and at first glance the guys love the authenticity of them, but upon deeper delving, they discover some marketing quirks. It quickly degenerates into a mass of confusion which we can only assume is caused by Gibson absentmindedly forgetting to send the guys an amp to test. Brian and Richard had a sneak preview of the new Andy Wood album and tell us all about it.

This leads on to a discussion about the new Schecter Machine Gun Kelly signature guitar and Brian refuses to believe it - and much to Richard's chagrin he also refuses to put his money where his mouth is. This leads on to a question about the most controversial guitar shape ever and the guys have an idea.

Have you ever tried a G&L guitar? The guys chat about them after a recommendation was made and they have reactions and Brian's head glows red when he realises he dropped the ball on some significant developments. Blake impersonates Tiny Tim.  Conversation inevitably turns to January's industry shindig, NAMM, and once again our British friend feels like Norman No-mates as he won't be going. EVER!

A 52 Blackguard Tele has been spotted in the next Gardiner Houlgate auction in the UK and Brian does some live "math" whilst the guys speculate about the price and conclude they need it. Brian is thinking about either buying or building a new amplifier and Richard tries to convince him to buy a Rivera as well while Blake is GASing for a Victory Kraken.  Brian is concerned for Richard as he invents a new cocktail and Blake tells us a disgusting story about diet cola and we invoke the spirits of Max and Travis. Blake and the fine folk over at Stringjoy have a 30 Day Guitar challenge running and Richard listens to him this time and Brian admits to playing "that" solo over the holiday season.  A box was thrown away and causes Richard to reflect on his terrible life choices and he uses words that Brian doesn't understand.

Brian experienced a strange anomaly - has he re-entered the Matrix, is he experiencing the Mandela effect, or is he just incredibly tired and emotional?  Richard joins him in this rabbit hole and there is conspiracy chat before we return to Brian's pedalboard for New Year's Eve. Brian drops a name and Richard finds beauty in a sad story that came from Red Witch pedals.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 494 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Richard has been suffering badly with the Covids and opens up with some interesting confessions about the worst crimes he has committed. He is a terrible man. Brian and Blake also 'fess up and all the guys may - or may not - be in serious trouble as a result.  Richard tells us some guitar based tales of his family, of wandering minstrels, and the resultant jamming that occurred and his tonal observations thereafter.

Analogman made a video demonstrating his impressive Germanium diode surplus and Brian admits he is interested as Blake fantasises about growing another eye. The guys talk about mixing guitar based music and some of the common mistakes one can make in the process. Oh and there is some lag and more noiseless pickup talk. Brian and Richard are joined by infamous Youtube creator KDH for a special episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Brian invited Youtube creator and fellow gear nerd KDH onto the show and both he and Richard are astonished by how young he is - and by extension how old they are. He tells us about his earliest memories and the early inspirations that got him into playing, nerding out over gear, and making Youtube content. He tells us about his  band Walker and his 1980's Hard Rock influences which is music to Brian's ears. Richard apologizes in advance for any cultural reference point based crimes that Brian may be about to commit before jumping into what influenced KDH to form a particular investigative style.

Richard is suffering from the Covid and also manages to completely misjudge everything. The conversation turns into an interesting look at an angle that the guys have never really looked at before and it makes Richard challenge his own views and mentally implode. We touch on some of the infamous controversial videos that KDH has published and learn some disturbing facts as we gaze into the abyss that is the guitar industry as it gazes back at us.

Brian is intrigued by KDH's video production methodology and asks about how he comes up with new content while also finding ways to keep it interesting as Richard fires off back handed compliments and generally misinformed nonsense. The guys look at the pedal industry, some of the business practices therein, and the ethics of cloning versus completely copying pedals.

Welcome, listeners, to some serious guitar talk! This week the biggest subject has to be the new Notaklon pedal construction set from the fine folk at JHS and we look at the sheer marketing genius that went into this release. Richard is impressed and dismayed in equal measure and predicts the future of internet memes. Brian has ideas and Blake postulates that guitarists shouldn't own soldering irons before Brian gives a rather major hint and then grows increasingly confused about his own pedals.

What's the weirdest music conspiracy theory you have ever heard? Richard opens up this debate based around a video he watched and Brian makes a world podcasting exclusive before discussing some news in the tech world. He also has beef with a waxwork model of Jimi Hendrix and tells us why. Richard witnessed the actor Jason Momoa recreating the graphics for the Wampler Pantheon on SNL and it blew his mind and talks to us about it with some mild idiocy.

Blake channels his inner lycanthrope and Brian dreams of wearables while the guys return the debate to Idiocracy. Meanwhile in the Shred Shed young Blake ponders the desirability of a pedal that bestows the tonality of an MP3 on your guitar before the subject of limited use pedals comes up. Richard lowers the tone when he mentions a disgusting pizza before he moves on to biscuits and gravy and Blake tells him why he is wrong about nearly everything.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Brian has had orders from the very top to create a certain new type of pedal and he has been burning the midnight oil to achieve this so we start off by listening to his merry tales. Blake channels his inner royalty and Richard questions the levels of surveillance and espionage that Brian is currently engaged in.

Another Kickstarter guitar has surfaced, promising to change the world as we know it, and the guys rapidly form some views and talk about them. Meanwhile Brian has been thinking up new pedal names and the results are of course completely brilliant. Richard has been pontificating about changing his guitar practice habits and makes a point of telling us.

The Beatles are at number one in charts and Richard is aghast and enthused as only he can be. Brian has worked on a song than has lethal potential as demonstrated when the other hosts nearly die laughing. We start off with an unusually medical introduction and Blake has new monitors but is very secretive about them but offers some beauty tips. Meanwhile Richard has had a goody bag from the amazing Markus Reeves of Reeves Electro and was highly impressed. Blake opens up an old wound with Richard and it stings. It stings hard.

What takes 300ma and makes the Internet lose its mind?  There's a new tuner from the tech wizards at Walrus Audio and the guys talk about it and Brian has some ideas on how to use it before evoking "that" solo again. He also gives us a few interesting tips on tuning and his favorite tuners. The new Beatles video makes Richard scratch his head but Brian is surprisingly indifferent. Richard asks whether the Beatles are the greatest pop group of all time and this leads to Blake singing some Backstreet Boys.

Blake wants a new signature Stratocaster and Richard takes the proverbial but admits that it is a beautifully put together guitar before dreaming up a new way of blackmailing potential advertisers. Then the British government disconnects Richard from the grid. Brian has been working on a new course about gain and he tells us all about it. Ai Joe Rogan reads the Patreon credits.

There is some prime guitar related content, allegedly, as the guys look at a recent moment of controversy involving a guitar learning tool and Richard makes a shocking personal revelation or two. Brian, on the other hand, has been arguing with machines. It is exactly as moronic as it sounds. Blake tries to inject some sensibility back into the conversation with limited success.

Blake wears two different hats, and reminds us he doesn't like one of the bestselling pedals of all time. Brian fires Richard on air before backing down and reaching an agreement about the best way to learn the guitar. Richard nearly knows all the chords and Brian mocks British bands of the 1990's. Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Brian has been dabbling with technology whereas Blake's mind is going at a million miles a minute and he may just be losing his mind.  This is the result of caffeine abuse and Brian is confused. Blake has been to see a punk band which leads to a debate about the best looking Les Paul ever. Whats the most annoying injury you can have as a guitar player? Richard has a theory and expounds upon it.

Richard found himself not just attending but also presenting at a masterclass with Wampler Artist (and friend of the show) Andy Wood - and so the self titled 'English King of Fuzz' expounded on his knowledge. He also got to look at a very special Les Paul and tells us all about it. There was a really cool coincidence and there was really hot Indian food and a secret jam may or may not have taken place with the Electric Love Aquatone.

The guys have discovered a new guitar gimmick and they discuss the merits of it and Brian has a number of product ideas. Richard apologises to the Big F as he was given a bum steer on some information about the Tone Master Pro.  He also has some further DIY questions for Professor Wampler and so is schooled in a methodology that may or may not serve him for life. There's a lot going on in the world, happily that includes some pedal releases, and so Blake comes in with some of his own special extrovert phantasmal energy to help launch the new Benson Amps delay pedal. Brian and Richard discuss nerdy things to do with circuits, discuss some of the previous Wampler delay pedals (including the Wampler Metaverse), and remarkably Blake remains awake throughout. Meanwhile Brian had a listener tip off about impulse responses.

Meris have also released a new pedal - the Mercury X - a reverb pedal with lots of fun options and Blake has being playing with it while Richard laments not having one and Brian channels the Australian Beatles. Richard has however been playing with the Black '65 pedal and got unexpected results and tells the guys about this while the guys talk about making mix tapes on cassette.

Brian's been to Hollywood - he's a bit of a big deal don't ya know - and he tells us about his experience with street musicians and has some interesting observations. Wampler have released limited editions of two of their most popular products from the past, the Tweed'57 and the Black'65 "Amp in a Box" pedals, and Brian breaks down a little bit of the history of how they came to be. He also makes a number of potentially foolish video based confessions. Brian explains the core properties of the tone-stacks of the amp's these were based around, and how these pedals are a little different then normal drive pedals. He also explains the subtle improvements with the newer versions vs the originals, the unique switching modes, and the pedal gain structures - before hinting at a special set of videos...

Richard has unusual pedal related habits and breaks them down whilst also telling the guys about the design changes on the new pedals. He has also been using a pedal he created himself on his rig and it has made him very very happy, and he made a new Fuzz pedal too and it was perhaps his most successful circuit build ever. His enclosure however - well that was a failure. A terrible yet amusing failure. 

Have you heard about the "Not for Josh" pedal from Poison Noises? Blake absolutely loves his and the guys talk about it. Richard, filled with confidence from his pedal build, asks some stupid questions. Blake then gives us a more detailed explanation of why Josh of JHS will never own this pedal. Never! Blake has been struggling with various household appliances and Brian has helpful diagnostic information while Richard provides an interesting view on electrical safety differences between certain countries. There is an update to a previous story regarding a famous gear Youtuber / Retailer and how the British advertising authorities reacted and what that means moving forward.   

Richard provides an overview of his latest pedal DIY experiments and reveals his first ever pedal (built from a kit - what a cheat!)...and he has plans for the future. Naturally he made some noobish errors but luckily Brian was on hand to roundly mock him and provide good advice. Brian has been melting in the heat but has some great advice on component choice for any fellow nerds that are interested. Blake has a nap but wakes up when talk of powder coating occurs.

Blake has been installing new active pickups and tells us all about them and Brian offers up his consultancy services before telling us about his new snack discovery via the medium of increasingly terrible Dad jokes. Brian has also been considering making a new pedal / doorbell combination and Richard has found a new pedal "format" for budding pedal DIY nerds to get more hands on with their tone which may result in his expulsion from the guild of pedal makers.

Richard makes some bold and outrageous claims about his fuzz pedal credentials having built exactly one pedal ever and has had some help from one of our supporters and tells us all about it before he and Brian have a genius business idea. Yes genius that is what i said. Blake enquires about the density of a key component and Richard has the geekiest thing he has ever owned.

Brian has had a long weekend, a veritable blur of guitar activity, and he tells us all about the Woodshed Guitar experience. He hung with some of the finest players and effects minds in the business - and possibly trolled them all - and has an amazingly coincidental story about Brent Mason. It's fair to say a good time was had by all and somewhere out there there is footage of Brian in a hot jam. There has been some controversy in the guitar word related to a well known retailer / youtuber and their involvement with an amp company which the guys were surprised by as they all thought it was common knowledge. Brian and Blake come at Richard with some stereotyping and then Richard confesses he has been listening to some country music and some classic American rock. Is this a negative reality inversion? Meanwhile Blake tells us about a recent vacation where he got to play a guitar that needed serious setup. Brian asks about Richard's DIY and immediately regrets at least some of it and we soon discover its now turned into a bonafide addiction and a risk of fire. It's like Brian has opened up a whole new world for Richard as he babbles away about J201s and resistor values.

Meanwhile Brian's been to  Nashville to hang out with the legendary Brent Mason and tells us about his preparations for the Andy Wood 'Woodshed Guitar Experience' - which he is definitely excited about.  Blake ruminates about next year's NAMM.

Fender have lifted their UK prices which has caused some consternation, and this leads on to some conversation about some new special edition guitars. In the light of recent current events, Richard has decide to rebrand himself, so Blake helps him out with a phone call to someone before telling us about another music festival he attended. Trey tells us all about the trials and tribulations of creating content for YouTube and how to manage the expectations of an audience and candidly speaks on the topics that trouble him, the issues he faces, and how he overcomes them. Meanwhile, Richard uses language that confuses Brian. All of the guys chip in with the debate and amazingly stay on topic throughout as they also discuss some of the surprising things they have come across on the internet as content creators. 

The debate turns to the direct model for artists creating, producing, and distributing their own content and how life for musicians has radically shifted as a result.  This leads on to a detailed discussion about how to build income streams from creativity and how to find your niche in an increasingly crowded creative space. The guys look at song crafting, riff writing, and commercial implications, and there are confusing breakfast cereal moments.

Josh Scott of JHS pedals did a livestream covering the Wampler Triumph and Phenom pedals and Brian and the guys chat about it. Richard has been wondering about the career longevity of hard rock singers and Brian unveils a whole new talent for vocalisation. Meanwhile Brian has been gigging and had an equipment revelation but it takes a little bit of teasing to get it out of him and Richard fumbles his words in a typically embarrassing manner.

Blake is away to Sweetwater for some sort of content creator jamboree so we are blessed to be joined by the giant intellect of Jake Steffes, Wampler's top engineer, and he has some grievances to air.  Richard is intrigued to hear about Jake's early years, how he got into electronics and how he wound up making awesome pedals via Brian's legendary deck and fishpond.

Brian and Richard have a genius idea for a new sport. Sorry, not genius, whats the word I'm looking for? Idiotic. Yes Idiotic. The guys then take a look at the history of one of Wampler's best selling pedals,  the Ethereal, which was one of Jakes proudest achievements at the time despite the challenges of the limited interface. Richard also drops a large hint before Brian completely destroys him.

Paul Reed Smith have announced the Myles Kennedy signature guitar which looks somewhat like a telecaster, and so the guys talk about it. Richard is currently not a fan of the aesthetics, but he may be swayed as time heals all shocks, and admits he would be up for trying one. There is some Bass talk, and there is band talk, because Jake happens to be a fantastic player in an awesome band! The guys then look at the topology of the new Boss delay machine and Jake breaks down what he loves about it in an almost on-topic section of the podcast.

Cory then gives us a little insight into his early days, his formative influences, and the mindset he developed that has got him to where he is today. Brian is curious to learn about some of the bands that influenced Cory and also how he built up his ridiculously precise sense of rhythm. He tells us a trick that anyone can follow but it may cause marital issues and it requires dedication. Cory also breaks down the formula for his influences in a candid interview while also showing us how he channels his creativity into his art.

Cory also details the songwriting process he follows from the ground up and then we get on to some reader questions - most of which are vaguely sensible. Blake has a very rare pedal that he is willing to part with for a serious amount of cash and Brian is instructing his staff to hit more pedals with hammers.  There has been some paradigm shifting news in the world of DAWs and the guys discuss this and what it means for everyone before arguing over the power of Garageband. 

Richard tells us about a secret Eric Clapton gig and wonders why there were not enough guitar solos involved in the coronation of the King. He also has some technical issues and looks to his favorite guitar people for advice. Then Richard gets asked to read the end credits in an American accent and the resulting idiocy gives Blake serious breathing problems due to uncontrollable laughter.

Blake kicks off with a demonstration of his new super (annoying) powers (which nauseates Richard immensely) before the guys go straight in to some news from the music and Ai worlds. Someone has managed to make an Ai Kanye and it sounds particularly impressive so the guys debate what this means with their normal levels of detail and insight. Blake has been playing with the new BOSS Gigcaster which despite being used as a torture device against Richard is actually a very neat piece of kit.

Wampler Pedals have released a brand new pedal - the all new Wampler x Cory Wong Compressor & Boost - and the guys are excited to talk about it. Richard is proud of his extended April Fool joke and Brian struggles with words. In the words of the super talented Cory Wong, this is not your Dad's compressor - this is an EGO style compressor but also has a great MDX style boost circuit. Blake comes in fast and cold with what he describes as a "mini rant" about a shopping experience he had whilst looking for a particular rare pedal and the guys discuss the joys of trying to get ones own money refunded. Blake has got some new toys and it causes much annoyance to Richard within 60 seconds and this in turn leads to irregular vitamin suspicions and a tale of Blake's Grandfather's Mexican shopping adventures.  Meanwhile Brian has established what day it is and Richard schools him in the ways of time traveling and 90's rave moves.

It is the final part of the DAW deep dive and it starts off with a disclaimer about terminology and professionalism in journalism. Brian then goes into the nature of Reverb and plugins and IRs and talks about using it in a recording environment a little before telling us about some Wampler Pedals that he are available from IK multimedia.  There is some exclusive plugin news and Blake has a neat hack for increasing your ability to add effects to tracks in your DAW. Richard then manages to confuse himself by multitasking and gets various things wrong multiple times.

There were some leaked pedals which the guys discuss and pay particular attention to a control choice. Gibson have launched an expensive tribute to the original "Greeny" Les Paul and a friend of the show has bought one which leads to some silly product placement and a discussion about why it actually represents great value for money.

Brian advises that Blake should isolate himself in the shred shed as he appears to have developed several interesting strains of virus in his household, and is then amazed at the girth of baritone strings. This leads into some admiration of the current Squier range and Baritone scale length discussion. Brian then goes into a mysterious black hole and Richard does his best to rescue him but fails miserably as it degenerates into a local politics discussion.

Richard has bought a new guitar - and the time it took from telling Brian and Blake it existed to buying it was a new show record. He's changed his mind about reliced guitars and Brian manages to drag the conversation back to the gutter. There is also some discussion about the new Marshall pedal reissue range, including Brian breaking down part of the schematic, and he also gets called out in public.

The saga of Brian's use of Chat GPT to avoid him ever having to communicate with other human beings continues, much to the annoyance of Richard, and the guys look at the issue of who owns the intellectual property to AI generated material.  There was also an interesting article about the state of the music industry and the revenues of each form which the guys take a look at before tackling the recent Superbowl half time show.

Richard has learnt something about the production of a classic 1970's song and it blew his mind, but before he tells Brian and Blake about it, he first has to teach Brian about the song.  He also reveals a terrible fact about the band's name before moving on to the gift that keeps giving, the ongoing saga of Pink Floyd and Roger Waters.

Marshall are re-releasing a bunch of pedals, including the Bluesbreaker and the Guv'nor, so the guys break down the news and Brian inevitably returns at Chat GPT for answers. Sigh. Our glorious leader has returned from his sickly malaise and although he is not quite firing on all cylinders he is at least  semi-coherent.  He has discovered some unusual effects from his illness though and opens up with some interesting observations about how his playing has changed as a result.

You may have seen a little bit of controversy over the recent Pink Floyd (take a shot, spray yourself etc.) logo redesign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dark Side of the Moon. It is possibly the dumbest story that the guys have discussed but discuss it they do! I wish Debs hadn't left me...Blake weeps for humanity as we dissect some of the comments that the internet has churned up. Blake and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast - I'm sure someone is missing here...

Brian is feeling a little under the weather (to put it mildly) so Blake and Richard try and persevere whilst hoping the Indiana goat overlord recovers quickly. There will be much silliness. There will also be some sadness and very raw emotions as the guys react to the news that Jeff Beck passed away just hours prior to recording this show.  Richard may say a few minor swears too - fair warning issued. 

Blake has got a new Amp in a Pedal and he is blown away by it, and tells us all about it in glorious detail.  Somehow this turns into a conversation about back massages and soldering irons. Richard has noticed a raise in the price of a guitar he purchased for someone and it has excited him - has he finally bought something that will go up in value ? 

Richard has overdosed on UAP videos and it mixed with the hallucinations his illness brought on and tells us about it before salivating over the new Fender gold foil pickup equipped guitars.  He also comes up with a new Mandela effect suggestion and blows his own mind. It wasn't difficult. Then the guys chat about Henning's Gear Island and speculate on what's next...

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Despite thinking it was a minor tickle, Richard has been suffering with weeks of illness, and the guys experiment with recording the podcast's video - and with mixed results. How much banana is required to power a distortion pedal? This crucial question is at the forefront of the guy's minds - well, kinda.

Do you practice standing up or sitting? Brian wonders how he could possibly swing a Stratocaster around his neck from a seated position and there is some debate about optimal strap displacement theory. Richard has experienced a moment of design joy over the past holiday period which involved the "Exploding Clocks" design of the Wampler Tumnus pedal and an interaction with the person who inspired the art originally some 30+ years ago. Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

This week the guys travel through time from 2022 to 2023 to talk about things they may be doing a weeks time back in January 2023. Confused yet? You will be soon if not already...and this leads to some SRV based revelations that shake Brian to his very core. Then Brian and Blake indulge in what can only be described as a utter buffoonery of the highest order and Richard is not impressed.

Richard has taken delivery of a large quantity of American lunar based snackery and is impressed with what he has discovered. His waistline is not. Richard had a moment of synchronicity but it is tinged with much sadness as it involved the death of one of his favorite artists. Keep it light Richard, for heaven's sake. Oh actually - no need - Brian will treat it with the reverence it deserves.

Richard has got hold of some "Stomptraps" to play with and he digs them so plugs away like a good 'un whilst Blake has been destroying pedals with flames and the guys discuss some unique design features of Behringer pedals. How much is the most you would ever pay for an amp? Brian has found a fairly pricey one on Reverb and the guys discuss.
