“At dawn, when you have trouble getting out of bed, tell yourself: “I have to go to work — as a human being. What do I have to complain of, if I’m going to do what I was born for — the things I was brought into the world to do? Or is this what I was created for? To huddle under the blankets and stay warm?” -Marcus Aurelius

My wife (aka end-user) looked up at the ceiling last night and said, “What’s that?”
We were standing in my home office where the ceiling had just been repainted. For years it was like most ceilings… Smudges here and there have never been tended to in years. Now it was a smooth uniform white, except for one little convex area as round as the lip of a coffee mug. It only appeared after everything had been painted. Meaning… it was there before, but couldn’t be seen until everything was white… then the shadows appeared Kind of like shadow IT appearing when you go put in the effort to unify all your applications, tools, and resources. “I don’t know what that is,” I said. So I pulled up a chair and stood up to touch it. Just the lightest pressure applied sent my finger through the ceiling Cracking the egg-shelled white ceiling paint… Drywall falling to the floor… followed by black speckled particles.
“Noooooooooo!”
My whole hand easily penetrated the ceiling… fingers pulling down soaked and molded plasterboard. I’m sure you can imagine the rest of the story. The point is… how many holes do we have in our network.
How many holes have we painted over and would rather leave it looking newly painted?
Me? I got out the saw… cut all the sheetrock… went upstairs to find the leaking tub drain and … Installed an access panel. Now I’m trying to get high on caffeine and breathing in fresh Kilz oil-based primer… while writing you this.
What you’re about to hear is one of the best shows I’ve done with a security vendor yet… I’ll let you judge the solution.
I’ve been somewhat of a fan of Dark Trace for a while and haven’t found a competitor until I ran into this nerd Pete Nicoletti.
He has hacked years ago before “Dell had pimples” Traced the guy down Had he arrested him, And put him away.
He has never lost to Dark Trace… who he calls “Dork Trace” Has taken meantime to detection from 197days to 200 milliseconds And meantime to repair from 76days to less than a day.
In short, he finds more hidden weaknesses and holes in your walls faster and he fixes holes in a day before you’re (unbeknown to you) rotting foundation collapses in on itself…. leaving nothing but a pile of worthless black mold once called a company Spotlights of failure on you Tarnishing your already weak and laughable career Spotlights of failure on you standing in your batman underwear on the stage of corporate IT.

Solving the energy crisis is very important to me. It’s what led me to start Ecovent in 2013, and what ultimately made me choose Soluna as my new weapon to attack this problem.
Asynchronous or Batch Compute is going to change the world. Video Rendering, AI, NLP, Machine Learning, Deep Data Modeling and Blockchain has already shown a glimpse of this – but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. The thing is, this new world needs a lot of very specific computing power, and those computers need energy.
One of the biggest problems holding back green energy is integrating the variable supply of that energy with the aging electrical infrastructure (the grid) which supplies that energy to the consumers. A lot of attention is going into modernizing these grids, including adding huge, wasteful battery packs.
We’ve developed a new data center that can be co-located with green energy sites, and make them vastly more profitable – completely disconnecting the reliance to the grid. This will unlock terawatts of green energy. So, humanity’s insatiable appetite for compute power will actually be the catalyst that ushers in a green revolution and finally puts oil out of business.

I pride myself not only on remaining flexible and being able to respond quickly to shifting demands when necessary but also on trusting my creative instincts and vision to guide my decision-making process. Keeping a good sense of humor throughout doesn’t hurt either.

I.T. guys, you are undervalued And no one cares. Stop with the pity party. You’re expendable. No one cares about compliancy. Most have no clue what you know. 70% of businesses are out of compliance. Stop crying about it, and save us. What are you going to do? Businesses care about Making money NPs care about the budget. So what are you going to do? Lead. You are going to lead. Start thinking like a leader. Speak in terms of effecting the budget, driving sales, saving labor, creating efficiencies, and doing more with less. Get in the head of the cfo and ceo… become the cto. I see it everyday, IT Directors are saying they need this and that, but they get little. I’m saying this because you are one of the most important departments thats affects the business. I’ve helped numerous IT Managers put together winning presentations and business arguments for the betterment of making money… Stop with the, “this is how it should be done.” Sell the money, build the business, then everyone gets what they want. Because the business wins.
