Independent filmmaker. From low budget horror films to multimillion dollar budget movies. My guest is Gary Sales. I reached out to Gary in order to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the release of "Madman". It was released on New Years Day 1982. The nostalgia factor of this movie for me personally is huge. The first ever horror movie that I saw in the teater. At the ripe old age of six years old, by myself at the Canarsie Movie Theater in Brooklyn. We speak about his work on movies like, "Just Cause" with Sean Connery and Billy Baldwin and "The Girl on the Train" then get into "Madman" and the reboot. From film to the days of Beta Max and VHS tapes to the rise of the slasher era and the VCR craze to what's happening now in the digital age. A wealth of knowledge and in my opinion, an unsung, underrated filmmaker. He was on my bucket list of people to speak with. I enjoyed this one a lot and glad he took time out for me. Commemorating the 40 Year Release of the cult horror classic "Madman"... my guest on this bonus episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is Tom Candela. Credited as "Jimmy Steele" in the movie, he played "Richie", the loud mouth teenager who screams out "Madman Marz'" name and sets off the rest of the movie with Madman killing everyone else in the film while he survives. I honestly thought this was going to be a mini episode that would be a half hour long at the most. We go into the filming of the movie and the enormous underground cult following of this film. The impact it had on horror fans of my generation and why it had such an impact on me. Tom was easy to talk to and we didn't even realize how long we were going. When horror fans think of "Leatherface" from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, they think "Gunnar Hansen", and rightfully so. Seriously one of my favorite people on the planet. He is the unmasked Michael Myers in the original classic "Halloween" as well as archival footage in "Halloween II" and "Halloween Kills". My guest on Episode 232 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast is John Caglione Jr. He earned his Academy Award for his make-up effects on "Dick Tracy" in 1990. He created Heath Ledger's "Joker" make-up in "The Dark Knight". He is Al Pacino's "go-to" guy and has worked with him on a ton of projects including "The Irishman", "Heat", "Paterno", "Insomnia" and "Donnie Brasco" to name a few. Dick Smith aka "The Godfather of Make-up" took John under his wing and gave him a shot. He has gone on to work on hundreds of movies and television shows combined including, "The Departed", "American Gangster", "Fatal Attraction", "The Amazing Spiderman" and "Amistad". His early experiences were on helping to create the "Coneheads" make-up on "Saturday Night Live", "Friday the 13th Part 2", "C.H.U.D.", "Basket Case" and "Scanners". Being a fan of "Walls of Jericho" and having had Candace on recently, I reached out to Dustin Robert, their drummer to chop it up. Since this happens to be the 40th Anniversary of "Friday the 13th Part 2", I wanted to have another person on the show who stared in the film. My guest on Episode 218 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is Lauren-Marie Taylor. She played the role of "Vickie". Always casted as "the girl next door". She was also in the 1982 slasher film "Girls Nite Out", she was in "Neighbors" alongside John Belushi and Dan Akroyd. She had a long career on the soap opera "Loving" as well as several other roles. Out of all of the actors and actresses associated with the "Friday the 13th" franchise, I have yet to meet one that wasn't an awesome person. She's no exception. Enjoy!

After a couple of months, I decided to go back to the Bay Area to have a conversation with, in my opinion, an unsung member of a criminally underrated band. "Forbidden" bass player Matt Camacho is my guest on Episode 217 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast. For the horror fans! Here's a deep cut. My guest on Episode 215 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast is Bill Randolph. An actor best known for his role as "Jeff" in "Friday the 13th: Part 2". One of the most brutal kills in the F13 series. Impaled with a spear through his back and through "Sandra" underneath him, though the bed to the floor. He was also in Brian De Palma's "Dressed To Kill", "Switching Channels" with Burt Reynolds, Kathleen Turner and Christopher Reeve. He played the lead role in a short horror film "Double Negative" and several other movies including the slapstick comedy "The First Time" from 1981. A super cool, humble guy. Being a huge fan of the "Friday the 13th" franchise, these were one of those episodes that was very cool for me on a personal level. Enjoy!

My guest on Episode 214 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast is Randy Shanofsky. Randy is a First Assistant Cameraman. His story is an incredible and how it came to fruition is pretty near impossible. From ordering a pair of shoes out of Rolling Stone magazine, he got his foot in the door in order to become a cinematographer. Almost forty years later he's still at it. He has worked on television shows and movies ever since. From the set of "The Outsiders" to "Beverly Hills 90210", "Masters of the Universe", "24", "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark", "Chicago Hope", "Cocktail", "The New Adventures of Lois and Clark" to "Desperate Housewives" just to name a few. A unique story from a sweetheart of a guy, but don't catch him in a bad mood or he'll put you in your place as he did to Charles Bronson. Yes... Randy wasn't havin' it. Enjoy!

He is the singer and guitarist of the rock band "Playing Dead" from Long Island. My guest on this Bonus Episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast is Sam Hoyos. My guest on Episode 213 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is a "Neighborhood guy". With roots in Brooklyn and residing in Long Island, Mark Menghi has done and continues to do amazing things. From being a regular at L'Amour to playing in local bands in venues all over New York City. He became friendly with members of legendary metal bands. He founded and put together "Metal Allegiance" with him, Dave Ellefson of "Megadeth", Mike Portnoy of "Dream Theater" and a ton of other bands and Alex Skolnick of "Testament". The even cooler thing is that they rotate guest singers and musicians. There's been appearances by Phil Anselmo, Gary Holt, Zetro, Andreas Kisser, Charlie Benante, Geezer Butler, Mark Osegueda and a ton of others. Way too many to name. He also played bass on the "BPMD" project with Bobby Blitz, Phil Demmel and Mike Portnoy as well. Super interesting guy. Much respect. Enjoy.

We go from listening to silly hair metal as kids to focusing on his upbringing as the son of Tim McCarthy, a legendary tour manager for huge stadium bands from the late sixties to the early 2000's. Cody grew up on tour with bands like "Fleetwood Mac", "The Doobie Brothers" and "Billy Joel". His godmother is Stevie Nicks. We go into how he became the manager at Shamrock and how he found himself in Bruce Willis and Johnny Depp's house on a house call. From arena rock bands to hip hop to the Doobie Brothers saving his life, Cody Mac has stories. This ruled. Enjoy.

He's produced records for and worked with everyone from "Testamant", "Exodus", "Machine Head, "Vio-Lence", "Hatriot" and "Sadus" to "Night Ranger" and "Ted Nugent" to countless others. My guests on Episode 207 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace aren't just the second wave of Bay Area Thrash Metal, but they're the second generation. Cody and Nick Souza, sons of Steve "Zetro" Souza of "Exodus". After "Zetro" left "Hatriot" due to commitments with "Exodus", his son Cody took over vocals and bass while Nick got behind the drums. This happened to be the second time we recorded due to me messing up the audio the first time around, but I could talk to these guys every day. Super cool and professional. In my opinion, he's one of the best, most consistent rappers over the past fifteen years. From the streets of Boston to battling addiction and hitting rock bottom, the world had something better for him. From the formation of "La Coka Nostra" to literally being discovered in a newspaper article by Ben Affleck. He went from squatting in a warehouse to the big screen and touring the world over. You might have seen him alongside Ed Harris and Casey Affleck in "Gone Baby Gone", or Ben Affleck and Jeremy Renner in "The Town", "Let Me Make You A Martyr", "Killing Them Softly" or several other movies. My guest on Episode 206 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace podcast is George Carroll... better known as "Slaine". We were gonna do this episode face to face over a year ago but things came up, then geography, life and this virus came into play. I'm glad we were able to do this on the heels of his newest record, "The Things We Can't Forgive", which is one of, if not his best album to date. A super humble, nice guy. I first heard of the Bay Area Thrash band "Heathen" from the "Hard N' Heavy Thrash & Speed Metal Special" VHS tape in 1989. I'm grateful to have had members of a bunch of the thrash bands from the Bay Area on the podcast simply due to that tape. Their debut record "Breaking the Silence" is an absolute classic thrash album. So I reached out to my guest on Episode 205 and he couldn't have been nicer. David White... singer for "Heathen" and early member of "Blind Illusion", Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde's old band. We go way back to high school and the metal scene in San Francisco, into "Blind Illusion" and eventually into him joining "Heathen". Dave is also a teacher and a swim coach. The creator of Death Metal. Innovator, legend and inspiration. My guest on Episode 203 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast is Jeff Becerra. He picked up a bass at eleven years old and history was literally made. From his first band "Blizzard" to him joining "Possessed". He indirectly created a genre of music. Some people have argued this, but it's a fact. We go into the early days of "Possessed", being on the road in Europe at sixteen years old with already a Gold record under his belt. To the break-up, then into his tragedy of him being a victim of a robbery and being shot twice, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. From the throes of addiction to recovery to the reforming of "Possessed" and beyond. It was an honor to speak with this man. Enjoy!

This coming March 20th will be 25 years to the day that I arrived at Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Born and bred in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn... Graffiti Legend, "Charlie the Hustler" is my guest on Episode 199 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast. In the graffiti game for as long as he can remember, "CH" went "All City" a very long time ago. Running the streets with infamous writers and living every aspect of the life a true graffiti king lives, he's been through it all. Multiple arrests, prison, fights, beef, being chased, and being stabbed seventeen times. "Charlie" is a survivor. We chopped it up about all of that and then some. For me, this was a flashback to L'amours in Brooklyn in '91. I went to see the "Grindcrusher Tour". "Cyclone Temple", "Nocturnus", "Godflesh" and "Napalm Death" were on the bill. When "Nocturnus" took the stage, I got a little confused. "Where is the singer?" I asked myself. Then I noticed that the drummer is the lead singer as well! It definitely caught my attention. Born in Boston but then came to New York City and met Tommy Victor at CBGB's. They bonded and created "Prong"... my guest on Episode 196 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is drummer, Ted Parsons. From "Swans", to "Prong" for over a decade, to "Godflesh" and "Jesu" and filling in and touring with bands like "Killing Joke" and "Foetus", with countless other side projects either under his belt or still going, this man has an impressive resumé. He now lives in Norway and has for the past couple of decades. We go into his bands and what brought him to living in Norway to a very scary brain tumor. The Bronx Legend. The big homie... RYNO KGB. We take it back to the early 90's when the graffiti game was called a "bloodsport". Things were hectic in New York City around that era. We speak about, but not too much detail about the legendary beefs there were and what inspired him to grab a can of paint. If you know anything about NYC graffiti culture, then you already know about the rivalries. Some of them have been ongoing for close to three decades now. Some have been squashed and good friends were made when they put things aside. A humble dude who gives props where they're due. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

My guest on Episode 194 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is former drummer for White Zombie, Ivan de Prume! Born in Brooklyn, then moved to Lower Manhattan where he eventually met Sean Yseult, who eventually became the bass player for White Zombie. They formed a short lived band called, "Life". Then enter Rob Cummings, also known as Rob "Dirt" Straker also known as Rob Zombie. Sean and Rob formed the band, then after their first EP "Gods on Voodoo Moon", their drummer left so they called on Ivan. He remained with the band until the middle of the "La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1" tour. Releasing three full length records and a couple EP's before they signed to Geffen Records and released La Sexorcisto. He went on to produce records and had a band called "Healer" and a side project or two. He histed a weekly metal show in Portland, Oregon and continues to live a good life out there. Definitely a lot of fun to chop it up with him. Enjoy.

From Queens to Japan... Everybody Gets Hurt! Chris Benetos is my guest on Episode 193 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast. "Chris Beee" is someone who I've wanted to have on for a couple years, but before the advent of Zoom, geography and time had gotten in the way since I was only meeting people in person. He paints an amazing picture of growing up in Queens, his childhood influences leading up to CBGB matinee shows into the fruition of the bands he was in. From "Fit of Anger", to filling in with "Outburst" then into the two versions of "Everybody Gets Hurt". The first version was shirt lived but we all know how much of an impact the second inception made. Chris is a super nice guy with a heart of gold who breaks his back seven days a week in order to provide for his family. The utmost respect. Enjoy.

The Legend. My guest on this episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace, is truly a legend. Dan Lilker! Founding member of Nuclear Assault, Anthrax, S.O.D., Brutal Truth. This guy has played in a ton of bands. Nokturnal Hellstorm, Venomous Concept and Malformed Earthborn, both with Shane Embury from Napalm Death, Exit 13, Crucifist, Extra Hot Sauce, has filled in on bass for Autopsy and has a current band called Blurred. You know him from Non Phixion and Heavy Metal Kings, and of course his solo material. This was long overdue, especially because his newest record dropped a couple months ago. "Final Expenses" with Stu Bangas. In my opinion, it's the rap record of the year. We go deep. This is the doom and gloom episode. Strap in kids... this gets dark. The guitarist, the showman and co-founder of the legendary "Sick Of It All"! My on Episode 190 of The Brooklyn blast Furnace is none other than Pete Koller! We talk some hardcore, the state of the world and how it's affecting touring musicians and talk a little smack about everyone's favorite bass player Craig Ahead. His daughter pops in and steals the show for a minute as well! Since he had to fly back to Florida the day that I recorded Episode 50 with the other three members of the band, I decided to revisit something I did on that episode with Pete. I felt like I needed to switch it up since every member has been on the podcast, and Craig being on four different times, I didn't want to be too redundant with Pete. I hope you enjoy this one!

I first learned about "Prong" from MTV's Headbangers Ball. Once I found out who the band was during the show's intro, I went and bought the "Beg To Differ" record on cassette. I was instantly a fan. So, having the opportunity to speak with my guest on Episode 189 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace was an awesome experience. Tommy Victor founded the band in 1986. He also did sound for CBGB's. The machine! Drummer for "Sick of it All", one of the greatest bands in hardcore. My guest for Episode 188 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is Armand Majidi. He was on in a smaller capacity on Episode 50 with Lou Koller, Craig Ahead and producer Jerry Farley. This is the first time I'm having a one on one conversation with him. We speak of course about the band and the uncertain future of musicians and live music. But we really go into his upbringing, living in Iran during the revolution, the things he witnessed while living there, what brought him to permanently move to America, and his take on what's currently happening here now. False flag operations, fear, viruses, and how everything is politicized. We touch on the series of "Quarantine Jams" the band is currently in the middle of releasing as well. When I wrapped up the first episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace with Jeff Gunnells, we spoke and decided that a second episode needed to happen. We, of course talk a little bit about music and he announces some "Cold As Life" news that I think you'll be happy to hear. But then, we quickly start talking about life. The decisions that we make, the consequences of those actions and how sometimes it's a long fight in order to regain trust with the people that we love. I can talk with Jeff for hours. Born and raised in Detroit, he started sneaking out of his house to go to shows. He quickly met Rawn Beauty, Ratbones and the rest of the early Cold As Life lineup. He tells a few Rawn stories from when he lived with him for a while. We go into the bands he was in and how all of them would practice in his basement. He speaks about singing for Cold As Life as well as hinting about a new Dogz of War record that is basically finished. We also touch on his race car and shop. Celebrating 25 years! From 1995-2020. Happy Anniversary to Bridge Nine Records! My guest on this episode is owner and founder, Chris Wrenn. We go back to the early 90's in Boston when he decided to create the label in order to simply help out. Being able to keep an independent record label up and running for 25 years(and still going)isn't an easy thing to pull off. From his first 7" to releasing way over 100 records to having everyone from Agnostic Front, Sick Of It All, H2O, Death Before Dishonor, American Nightmare, Ramallah, Terror, Cruel Hand, Slapshot, Ten Yard Fight and countless others on Bridge 9. From band talk to some funny shit talk about the very heated Yankees/Red Sox rivalry in the early to mid-2000's to cemeteries in Salem. Another great time doing this podcast. The episode I never thought would happen. My guest on Episode 181 is none other than Jeff Gunnells! A founding member of Detroit's most dangerous band... "Cold As Life". He played guitar on all demos then moved to vocals after the murder of Rodney "Rawn Beauty" Barger, the original singer. Their first full length release, "Born to Land Hard" in my opinion, is the hardest record ever released. He also played guitar in "H8 Inc.", another band who's discography is ridiculously hard as well as "Ramallah". We speak about the Detroit hardcore scene back in the early and late 90's along with his former bands. We then speak about the last decade of his life. From being incarcerated for a little over seven years, paroled during a pandemic and receiving news shortly thereafter that nobody ever wants to hear. I asked him what he thought about the several other versions of "Cold As Life" in which he has several opinions. Knowing Jeff's history, and what he endured over the last decade, his energy and positive outlook is great to see. I hope you enjoy this one. It was pretty cool to have had the opportunity to speak with three members of one of my favorite metal bands. I started with the singer, Sean Killian, then guitarist Phil Demmel and now... my guest on Episode 180 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is the drummer for "Vio-Lence", Perry Strickland! Such a fun guy to chop it up with. We speak about some of the crazy but absolutely fun things he did with the other members of the band when they were kids that, nowadays would be frowned upon. The history of the band, record labels, the records, and especially the long awaited upcoming "Vio-Lence" EP that will be released on "Metal Blade Records". From playing in local Brooklyn bands to becoming the drummer of "Type O Negative" right after "Bloody Kisses" was released to playing drums for "Danzig" for almost twenty years at this point... my guest for Episode 179 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is none other than Johnny Kelly! The man has been busy. We talk about old school Brooklyn, the stretch of bars down Flatbush Avenue in the late 80's and early 90's. Other than "Type O Negative" and "Danzig", he played for "A Pale Horse Named Death" alongside Sal Abruscato, the former drummer of "Type O" and "Life of Agony", "Seventh Void" which became "Silvertomb" with former members of "Type O", "Inhuman" and "Agnostic Front". He has filled in for "Black Label Society" and "Kill Devil Hill", Rex Brown and Vinny Appice's band. He has a side project, basically just for fun called "Hookers And Blow". This caps off the second five part series focusing on Bane. Eleven episodes in total between the two series. The timing was perfect. My guests for Episode 178 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace are filmmakers; Dan Elswick (director) and Ricardo Cozzolino (editor). Together they created "Holding These Moments". The long awaited documentary about a band called Bane. We discuss, but not in too much detail the incredible documentary they made. From the initial idea about even making one, to setting out and going on the road with the band on their final tour, the editing process, the ups and downs and everything in between. They announce the actual release date in this episode, which I thought was incredibly cool of them to wait to do my show to announce something that so many people have been waiting for for so long. Super cool guys and like I've said before, each and every one of the members of the band and everyone associated with them have been a pleasure to speak with. My guest for the 5th and final part in the "Bane 2.0" series is part 2 with singer Aaron Bedard! We go right into the feedback we received from the first five part series, the emotions attached to watching the live stream of the final set, the upcoming documentary, and thoughts on the future. The fourth part in the second Bane Series! My guest is Stephen Fallis. Former Tour Manager for Bane and creator of "At Both Ends" hardcore magazine. Besides the members themselves, he's probably seen the band live more than anyone. We get into his upbringing in the forest in Canada coming from a family of ranchers, where he only has one or two radio stations and television channels all the way into stories of him with Bane in South America. A kid who lived literally in the middle of nowhere to eventually tour all over the country and overseas with Bane and several other bands. From booking little hardcore shows to hopping in a van and traveling the world. We had an interesting, behind the scenes conversation from his beginnings through today. Great talking with him. My guest for Part 3 in the "Bane 2.0" series is drummer Nick Branigan. He played drums on the "It All Comes Down To This" and "Give Blood" records. He toured the world for several years with "Bane". He was in the Boston hardcore band "Close Call", after "Bane", he joined "Silent Drive" and went on to create music in several different genres. My guest for Episode 174... Part 2 in the "Bane 2.0" series is bass player, Brendan "Stu" Maguire! Stu played and toured with "Bane" extensively and recorded the "World Series" 7" collection in 2009. We begin this episode speaking about his battle with pancreatic cancer. For what this man has gone and is going through, his positive attitude and fight is second to none. We both called the first half hour or so of this conversation, "The Ailment Episode" since he tells his story, then I wasn't going to, but he wanted me to tell mine as well. The Isolation Sessions: Volume 18!!! The last in this series that I did during the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020. I close this out with the legendary Phil Demmel! Founder and guitarist of "Vio-Lence", "BPMD", ex "Machine Head", "Technocracy" and singer for "Torque". This was another one of those episodes that I never thought I'd ever have a chance to do. My teenage years (and still to this day), "Vio-Lence" was a big part of my soundtrack. We go right into the upcoming new "Vio-Lence" record. He was also the drummer for "Reach the Sky". This episode concludes the "Bane" series. Definitely my personal favorite stretch of episodes so far. As with the previous episodes, we go into his history and what steered him into the direction of the hardcore scene. We go from his earliest bands who didn't release music, to an early band, "Black Belt", then into "Reach the Sky" who had a nice run of success, then into "Bane". His thoughts on that final tour, the last couple shows and of course, the final show at the Worcester Palladium. At this point, if you have listened to this series, by the end of this one, you'll get a good feeling about the future of "Bane" and what may or may not need to happen in order for them to play again. The fourteenth in a series of podcasts during the Coronavirus pandemic. "The Isolation Sessions". Part 4 of 5 in the "Bane Series". My guest is founding member and guitarist Aaron Dalbec. He also plays guitar for "Only Crime" and bass for "Be Well", as well as former guitarist for "Converge". Aaron also owns and operates his own company, "Essex Coffee Roasters". We go into his history along with the early days of "Converge" then quickly go into the formation "Bane". Being he is a founding member, there's a lot. A dedicated 20 year run with a band that couldn't stop touring... until they did. I ask him all about the final show and the possibility of reforming. While they were still active, he played bass for a bit with "Only Crime" along with the singer for "Good Riddance" and "Creep Division". After "Bane" was over, it's apparent that Aaron has a drive and passion for creating music, so "Be Well" was formed. I wish his band and his coffee company nothing but success. The eleventh in a series of podcasts during the Coronavirus pandemic. "The Isolation Sessions". Part 1 of 5 in the "Bane Series". My guest is guitarist, Zach Jordan. He is also the singer for "Silent Drive". Zach and I have been trying for literally about two years to do an episode of the podcast. This was before the pandemic hit. We just never were able to line up our schedules and geography got in the way since he was constantly on the road with other bands. So, I figured I'd reach out to see if he was down to do one of "The Isolation Sessions". I must give him credit for coming up with the idea to do a "Bane Series" with all of the members after he caught wind that I was also trying to line up an episode with the other guitarist, Aaron Dalbec. This was the first podcast that he has done since "Bane" called it quits on June 18th, 2016. To my knowledge, nobody in the band has... until now. An independent hardcore and metal label based in Upstate, New York. They've been killin' it lately with an amazing roster of bands. We stayed in touch via social media and met up again a couple years back at "This Is Hardcore". He's always been a super nice guy and have mutual respect for each other. He's also a huge horror movie fan. So I figured I'd reach out to have a conversation with my boy from Detroit. We talk about Detroit, his bands, a little about his hard upbringing, horror movies and how Rob Zombie should stick to making "White Zombie" music. I have nothing but respect for him. Enjoy!

Since then, I've gotten to know him and he's one of the most genuine people I know. My guest is a former, retired undercover ATF Special Agent who infiltrated all five Mafia Families in New York and is responsible for taking down the infamous contract killer Richard "The Iceman" Kuklinski... ladies and gentlemen, Dominick Polifrone. We discuss his background growing up in North Jersey and into his career as a cop then jump right into him meeting up with "Made Guys" and building trust amongst them. Getting kilos of cocaine, heroin, machine guns, silencers, dynamite, stolen property, swag... all on consignment. Then of course we go into "The Iceman". Me and Scott have been planning to do an episode for a very long time face to face. We will still do that eventually. But in the meantime, we did an episode via Skype. Recorded at supposedly one of the most haunted locations in the United States,The Kreischer Mansion on Staten Island. My guest is comedian and paranormal investigator, Craig Loydgren. If you're unaware of The Kreischer Mansion, please Google it for yourself. We discuss the history of this house throughout this episode. I am not necessarily a "believer" in ghosts and whatnot, but I have to say, this house definitely has something about it that was off. Noises, the inside of the house remains anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees colder that the outside temperature, a freezing breeze that blew onto my back and neck out of nowhere while sitting in the middle of a dining room with no doors or windows open and several other things. Ok... so... Craig Loydgren is trusted and has keys to this house that is now landmarked. He is a stand up comic and has a special out now on Amazon Prime called "Married and Miserable"... go check it out. And... I hope you enjoy this episode. The fourth in a series of podcasts during the Coronavirus pandemic. "The Isolation Sessions". My guest is Rich Frein. Rich was the first manager for "Biohazard" in the very early days. The majority of this episode is about those times. He also worked with and helped "White Zombie" before they broke big with the first Geffen Record "La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1". He bounced at clubs all over New York City during the 80's and early 90's. He's been around forever and has hours upon hours on stories from first hand experience. Enjoy!

Before the coronavirus debacle, I got together with Mark Yoshitomi and Ron Grimaldi at "Generation Records" in the West Village to record this crazy episode. Mark is co-owner of "Generation Records" and is also a founding member and former bass player for the New York Punk Rock band "The Casualties". And if you listened to Episode 121, you know who Ron Grimaldi is. The singer for "Deathcycle" and also works at the record store a couple days a week. I had no idea where this episode would go. It definitely went in a direction I wasn't expecting. I laughed throughout this thing. We go a little into how Mark got involved with punk rock and "The Casualties" and a bit about the record store. Then... we dive into the final G.G. Allin show at "The Gas Station" where it became complete chaos and a legendary final show since G.G. died of an overdose later that night. From "The Gas Station" to creepy houses in order to buy record collections and back to the guy in the lawn chair innocently reading a book when G.G. Way back on Episode 43, Mario and Sarah Quintero of the three piece band "Spotlights" were the guests on the show. So, my former co-host John Lamacchia put me in touch with the drummer for "Spotlights", my guest on Episode 151 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast... Chris Enriquez. Chris also works for "Revolver Magazine", has played in "Primitive Weapons", filled in on drums for "Beyond" and "Shai Hulud" and now plays guitar in a new hardcore project called "Total Meltdown". His main band, "Spotlights" will be doing a two week run on tour with "Faith No More" and "Korn". We talk about his new band and stepping out from behind the drums and doing something out of his wheelhouse as well as his job at "Revolver". I had never formally met him until the night this was recorded and it couldn't have went better. Super nice guy and an unbelievably talented musician. Enjoy.

The Godfather of Hardcore... Vinnie Stigma and Mike Gallo of "Agnostic Front" and "Stigma" are back for Episode 150 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast! It's been 123 episodes since these gentlemen were on. Stigma had me over his house in Little Italy to play catch up and chop it up about what's been going on. From the new record, "Get Loud", touring, Mike Gallo's original artwork, a buncha banter, Stigma stories and we even touch on the events of 9.11.2001. The first in a series of podcasts during the Coronavirus pandemic. "The Isolation Sessions". I always said that i'd never do an episode unless it was face to face. Well, never say never. Under the circumstances I feel it's necessary. My first guest is Billy Graziadei from "Biohazard", "Billy Bio" and "PowerFlo". It was his idea to do a Skype interview and he also came up with the name of these episodes. The audio isn't the greatest due to it being a Skype call over Wifi from across the country. But you get the gist. Not much else could be done about that. Anyway, I always wanted this guy on the show and being that he's out in Los Angeles, the timing would have to be perfect and he's not on the East Coast very often and I'm never in California. One day we'll sit down in person and do another one. Plus, if you go to "The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast" group on Facebook, I also posted the actual Skype video. "Biohazard" is one of my all time favorite bands and is probably the band that i've seen most in my life. And his solo band "Billy Bio" is awesome and so is PowerFlo with him and Sen Dog from "Cypress Hill". Anyway, I hope you enjoy this one. Again, my apologies for the shotty audio. Respect.

So, I had a tattoo appointment with my best friend Ian Shafer, so I incorporated it into an overnight stay at his house so my daughter can hang out with Ian's son since life and schedules always put a damper on getting the kids together. While I was there he said we could do another episode while I was there. No problem. As mentioned from episode 80, the least time he was on, we went through rehab together from 2004-2006. I consider him my brother. He's my best friend, a psycho, a world class tattoo artist, old school punk rock and hardcore kid and without a doubt, one of the best dad's I know. We just shoot the shit for an hour about a bunch of random things off the top of our heads. Always a good dude to speak with. Enjoy.

He sheds light on independent film makers as well as having actors and actresses for all genres of horror films including some pop culture figures. He also created the "Horror Sideshow Market" which spotlights vendors as well as a few key guests. The New Jersey Horror Con takes place twice a year at the Showboat Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. If you're in the area, you should attend one and check it out. The ever controversial and outspoken founding member of first wave New York Hardcore band, the Nihilistics... Ron Rancid is my guest on this episode. He met me at "Generation Records" to chop it for a while. He was nothing short of what most would expect. He doesn't care about what anyone thinks, or feels. We go back to the old days of the "A7" and "CBGB" and the burned out Lower East Side of New York City. From the birth of the band up until now with a new record deal and record in the works to him working in a funeral home then eventually becoming an embalmer to him being questioned for being a Long Island serial killer... yes. A serial killer. If you're easily offended here in 2020, this one isn't for you. I got a little uncomfortable a couple times, but hey, everyone has their own opinions. I hope you enjoy this one. It's been 137 episodes since Eddie has been on the podcast. A lot has happened since, so I figured he was long overdue for a return visit. We recorded at "Soundwars Studios" in Hoboken, New Jersey. We talk about what's been going on with "Leeway NYC" and what is coming up as far as new music and shows. The relaunch of his podcast, "The Eddie Leeway Podcast," is touched on. We also talk about the beginning days of Leeway and all of the delays and setbacks that seemed to have held the band back with record labels and turmoil within the band. Originally from Long Island, Actor Joseph Covino eventually moved out to Los Angeles to pursue acting after living in the East Village in New York City for awhile. He portrayed John Gotti in the Amazon Limited Series "Kingpin" alongside actor Craig Thomas Rivela (who was on Episode 128) who portrayed Sammy Gravano. Ken Sagoes... mostly known for his role as "Roland Kincaid" in "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master". One of the coolest people I've ever met. Well... Craig "Ahead" Setari of "Sick Of It All" is back along with record producer The Jerry Farley for this ridiculous episode. The New York Pizza Report! We discuss food in general, music, producing records, we talk smack, cosmic energy, consciousness, we touch on the impact of members of the hardcore scene that have passed, especially Vinnie Value. There's even a Bigfoot story along with Craig's theory on if Bigfoot exists or not... oh, we discuss food some more as well. Ladies and gentlemen... the return of everyone's favorite Neighborhood Knucklehead. A couple years ago I did a quick five minute Bonus Mini Episode with Dave Neabore from "Dog Eat Dog" and the early days of "Mucky Pup". I see this gentleman often and asked him if he was down to do a proper episode being that I've been a fan of his bands since I was a teenager. He invited me to his home in New Jersey and had a really cool conversation. We go from the beginning of "Mucky Pup" to the formation of "Dog Eat Dog" all the way up to the present where he just got off tour celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their classic "All Boro Kings" record. A Brooklyn original. Guitarist for Maximum Penalty, Method of Destruction, Fully and Lament... Joe Affe ladies and gentlemen. Joe invited me to his house in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn to chop it up. We talk about all of his bands, past and present, to how much New York City has changed along with the pros and cons of those changes, to horror movies and a bunch in between. I didn't realize that Maximum Penalty opened up for Agnostic Front the night they recorded the classic "Live at CBGB" record. Joe is a criminally underrated and unsung guitar player who has been around forever. A great guy who I've been wanting to get on for a while now. I'm glad it happened. The Sideshow Market is created by the people who created the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival twice a year. Known in the punk and hardcore world simply as "Raven" from "Murphy's Law"... Seaton Hancock is my guest this week. A humble gentleman who doesn't consider himself a legend. Most people in fact do. I had the pleasure of sitting down in the Washington Square Diner off of West 4th Street in New York City to speak a little about his life. I knew there was so much more to this man than just "Murphy's Law" but just didn't know exactly what his story was. Hopefully this episode gives you a broader image of this man and what he has overcome and accomplished. Respected all over the world and rightfully so. I'm sure we could've spoken for several hours. Probably the most organic conversation that I've had with someone on the show. Knocko came in from Los Angeles for a few days for Thanksgiving and hit me up to meet and do an episode of the podcast. This was the first time meeting him face to face although I felt like I knew him for a couple years of going back and forth online through the "Delta Bravo Urban Exploration Team" groups we're a part of. Founded by "Danny Boy" O'Connor of "House of Pain" and "La Coka Nostra" and co-founded by Knocko. We discuss so many topics from the formation of the DBUET, being a co-host of "The Armbar Podcast", being a "goodguy" and life in general. From being a police officer and an old school punk rock and hardcore kid growing up in Queens. A genuinely nice guy with a lot of life experiences and definitely easy to talk to. This is a bit different than what usually happens on the show. A regular guy with a regular conversation with zero agenda or map. We probably could've gone another 2 hours. I hope you enjoy this. We go back to his first band "245" (2 for 5), to "Roger Miret and The Disasters" to "Stigma" up until "Wisdom In Chains" and what's currently going on with them. Who are one of my favorite hardcore bands over the last decade plus. The self-procaimed "Sandwich King" builds his creation for a hypothetical battle for the "Sangweech Championship Belt". Recorded Live from the "Saint Vitus Bar" in Brooklyn. I met up with the members of M.O.D. Of course the always controversial, outspoken, entertaining, legendary frontman, Billy Milano, drummer Mike Fury, Bass player Rob Moschetti and guitarist Jason French. I was honored to have had the drummer hit me up several days earlier to see if I'd do a podcast with the band. I definitely wasn't going to pass up the opportunity. Although several members of the band are on this episode, it's 75% the "Billy Milano Show". A lot of banter, jokes, talk about Brooklyn pastries, music, S.O.D., Anthrax, Scott Ian, Charlie Benante and... Oprah Winfrey. This was a lot of fun to do for sure and definitely a very memorable experience. Every one of the guys in the band couldn't have been nicer off mic either. Respect.

"Mitts" ladies and gentlemen... Brian Daniels. Guitarist for "Madball" for sixteen years. He also played in "Hazen Street", "Skarhead", "Crown of Thornz" and "Rag Men". A legend. I met him at a bar off the beaten path on Fulton Street after work one night to chop it up about a couple two, three things. From his childhood, his upbringing in a very musical household to going on tour with "Crown of Thornz" and beyond. Pro Wrestler, Former WWE NXT Superstar, Promoter... Bull James! I met up with him at "Brooklyn Bazaar" in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn. We were in the basement of the venue in a makeshift dressing room. We went back to how he got involved and interested in Pro Wrestling, and his journey through different trainers, schools, his time at NXT up to now. We were at an "Outlaw Pro Wrestling" event in which he promotes events for. He's a born and bred Brooklyn native and one of the nicest guys I've met in a long time. I hope you enjoy this one. Ed McKirdy and Hugo Fitzgerald... Singer and guitarist for New York City Straight Edge Hardcore band "Locked Inside" join me on this episode of the podcast. We met up in midtown Manhattan to speak about the band, it's formation, what they're up to now and what they have coming up in the future. After a couple places to record fell through, we settled into the upstairs portion of an Indian restaurant. We talk everything from "Youth Of Today", "Judge", the beginning of New York Hardcore as a whole and the resurgence of the actual birthplace of the movement; the legendary "A7" on the Lower East Side and what Drew Stone has been doing there with his "Return to the NYHC Roots" shows. I had a great conversation with Brooklyn born actor, Craig Thomas Rivela. We met up at the Bath Beach Diner in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn to talk about things. I was a bit late to the party but I recently got turned onto the 8-part AMC Mini-Series "The Making Of The Mob: New York" from 2015 on Amazon Prime. Craig portrayed Mob boss Vito Genovese. That is the first time I've heard of him. The show was so well done that I started researching the actors. I hit him up and he was more than happy to come onto the podcast. Especially because, next week, on November 5th, his newest movie, "Bare Knuckle Brawler" gets released. The film also stars Martin Kove ("The Karate Kid I, II and III", "Rambo: First Blood Part II", "Wyatt Earp" and a ton more) and the iconic Danny Trejo. ("Machete", "Heat", "Anaconda", "Blood In, Blood Out" and a ton more as well) It turns out we have similar mutual friends and was actually in a hardcore band. Who knew. I hope you enjoy this. Recorded Live from the "New Jersey Horror Con & Film Festival" at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. While at the convention, I came across a booth that had a unique set up from any of the conventions that I usually attend. I had a short conversation with Craig, one of their curators, about what The HSPPA does. If you're a fan of movies, whether it's Horror, Science Fiction, television shows or Pop Culture in general, you'll probably find what they do interesting. The are a non-profit organization that obtains legitimae props from a lot of your favorite movies and they travel from con to con just so you can see them in person and handle some of them yourself. From an actual screen used piece of the Death Star in the original "Star Wars", to Wolverine's "Claws" from an "X-Men" movie to Harry Potter's wand to the orange jumpsuits used in the prison in "The Human Centipede 3" to a screen used container from "The Stuff". The Funky Uncle Sloppy... the "individualist"... Ricky Powell. I met up with the legendary photographer on West 8th Street in the West Village at Evas Kitchen to talk that nonsense. He tells the story of how he got his first camera, after being "played like a wet tuna sandwich" and the reasoning behind him deciding to take to the streets to take photos. His early days as a kid, meeting the "Beastie Boys" and going on the road with them and "Run DMC" on the "Raising Hell" Tour. From his public access television show, "Rappin' with The Rickster" to photographing people like Cindy Crawford, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Mike Tyson, Eazy-E, Laurence Fishburn, Dondi and countless others along with the the six books he's put out and so much in between while "crunching on a crispy knish". This was awesome to do. There will be a part two I'm sure and possibly more than that. I hope you enjoy this one!

I met up with Iván Murillo on the Upper East Side of NYC to talk about his history coming up in the Connecticut Hardcore scene then making his way into New York City. From his early bands into "Dead Wrong" and "Unforgiven" to the beautiful and awesome story of how he became a part of "Skarhead" and the reasoning behind him going to Colombia with them, into his latest band, "Manipulate". He's also working with Jay Reason on getting bands up onto streaming platforms who are currently unavailable. He's a super nice guy who's easy to talk to with great stories. I took a ride out to the Philadelphia area and linked up with the three guys who bring you The Ill Street News Podcast every week. This has been a long time coming, but it finally happened. I sat down with Tim Anderson Jr., Adam Schmidt and Mike Tornello at Adam's house and chopped it up for a little while. It's a bit chaotic and all over the place in typical Blast Furnace fashion but then I sort of get everyone on track and try to learn more about these guys on a more personal level. From the late 80's to the late 90's, retiring in 2000... you most likely have seen "JD BTW" thrown up all over New York City alongside JA, SET and a bunch of other graff legends. JD definitely made a mark in the city during his decade long run throwing his name up alongside highways, billboards, trains, trucks and wherever else he can get to. I've been wanting to sit down and chop it up with Joe Hardcore for a while now. I'm glad I finally had the opportunity. We sat down over a cup of coffee in Fishtown, a neighborhood in Philly. We talk everything from him growing up in Kensington to the annual This Is Hardcore Fest, in which, in my opinion is the best hardcore festival in the states. We touch on his upbringing and what pointed him in the direction of the hardcore scene, booking shows. An intelligent guy who's an avid reader, BBJ student, modern medieval fighter and singer for Shattered Realm. Guns Don't Kill People... Shlak Kills People! Probably the most "over" deathmatch wrestler in the United States. He's been wrestling for over 20 years and his first match ever had tables, ladders and chairs involved. Light tubes, glass, thumb tacks, barbed wire, tables, chairs, filing cabinets, forks... you name it, he's been involved in matches with it. Broken bones, teeth, stitches, hospital visits as well. We get into some of his crazy stories. We also talk about his past bands, "Call the Paramedics" and "Eat the Turnbuckle" as well as his newest band, "Crackhouse". He's even an extremely talented tattoo artist currently working at Black Vulture in the Fishtown area of Philadelphia. This was a lot of fun. One of my favorites actually. No God, Only Shlak! Enjoy.

I caught up with Jason Brooks at "Creature Feature Weekend" at the Wyndham Hotel in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I wanted to talk about his role as Jason Voorhees in the upcoming film, "Friday the 13th: Vengeance". Being a huge Friday the 13th fan, I've been following this movies' progress. Premiering on Friday, September 13th 2019 at the Blairstown Museum Theater in Blairstown, N.J. Really nice guy and I wish nothing but success to him and this film. Enjoy. Rest in Peace Steve Dash.

Ron Grimaldi... a Long Island Hardcore staple, the singer for Deathcycle, Sonic Poison, Faithless, he played drums for a minute in Kill Your Idols. But... this episode is so much more than that. We talk government. Not politics. Government, the state of the world and where he thinks we're headed. We talk about why he still has a flip phone and he even wants to part ways with that. I can't say this is a "conspiracy theory" episode, because there's evidence for everything we discuss. Some might think we both sound crazy... Iconic artist and illustrator... Sean Taggart is my guest on Episode 118! In the New York Hardcore scene, he's known for his iconic album covers and show flyers. Agnostic Front's "Cause for Alarm" cover, Crumbsuckers "Life of Dreams", Prong "Primitive Origins", countless flyers and even created the artwork for "The Jerky Boys". We go back to L'Amour in Brooklyn and the early days of the band. We touch on the state of the world along with his profession when he's not screaming about the apocalypse. Mike is a great guy and his band is one of the most consistent bands in heavy music. After another amazing weekend... it's time for the This Is Hardcore 2019 Wrap Up Report. The entire This Is Hardcore Team deserves their props. The time, work and passion these people have into putting on, in my opinion, the best Hardcore fest in the United States.

Comin' at you from "Wood Park" in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I sat down with two Brooklyn Originals. Graffiti writers, "Mega T2B" and "Score NSB" to talk graff. Where they got their inspiration to go out and put their names up in paint, where they got their names from, and everything in between. We discuss the always debated question, "is graffiti art?" We touch on the rules of graffiti, throw-ups go over tags, fill-ins go over throw-ups and so on. I had never met these guys before we met up to do this, and I'm glad I did. Good guys with a passion for graffiti. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

I find myself back in "Waste Studios" in Queens. I was here on Episode 75 when I spoke to Johnny Waste, the founder and guitarist of Urban Waste... well now it's time for Josh Waste to tell his story. Having the torch passed to him to front the legendary NYHC band by original singer Kenny Ahrens (RIP), Josh has played a huge part in keeping the band together and consistently playing shows around the country. He has a great story lives for Punk and Hardcore. He had a smile on his face for this entire conversation. Great guy, great band and a great time doing this one. I hope you all enjoy this one. The Homie, the Graffiti Legend... OJae FYC returns along with his long time friend and graffiti artist DEAR FYC. Stories about bombing in NYC when the city was grimy and nowhere near as pretty as it is now. How it was hitting the Manhattan Bridge for the first time with holes on the catwalk going all the way down to either the street or the water. These guys have a lot of both good and crazy memories that they share here. Definitely a good time. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

"Mike Kruel". Mike had a very interesting run in the pro wrestling world. From different independents like Ohio Valley Wrestling where he was Heavyweight Champion to Florida Championship Wrestling eventually leading up to the WWE. This is for the wrestling fans, especially if you are a fan of the WWF in the 80's. His father wrestled as well under the name "The Bodyguard for Hire" whom we also speak about. Mike tells stories about meeting Vince Mcmahon, Captain Lou Albano, Jimmy Snuka and even Greg "The Hammer" Valentine staying over his house, wrestling Tito Santana and even wrestling Chris Benoit just a few months before the murder/suicide. Mike has an extremely interesting wrestling history. I hope you enjoy this very different episode. This was A LOT of fun to do.

As usual, we're all over the place in what's probably the most chaotic and unpredictable episode that I've done with him so far. His newest record, "The Disconnect" dropped as we were recording and we spoke about how he's going about this record and dropping multiple videos in a row. Strap in people, this is a strange one. He played guitar on the first Youth of Today record, he sang for the legendary Underdog and is the singer for Into Another. Richie Birkenhead has been around the hardcore scene for decades. I met him at his office which is about 2 blocks from Ground Zero. A very smart guy who, in his own words is, "just a middle aged man trying to navigate through life in a very strange time". We discuss his hardcore roots, his decision a long time ago to go vegan, and carry all the way up to "Into Another" playing this years "This is Hardcore" festival, which unfortunately they recently had to cancel due to an unforeseen medical condition. You probably know him from the movie "The Warriors". He was the Warchief of the Orphans from the Tremont section of the Bronx. But he's so much more than that small, but iconic role. Apache Ramos invited me to his house in Flushing, Queens to do this podcast. His daughter (and manager), Jaz, and the rest of his family couldn't have been more hospitable or nicer. Jaz joins us during this episode as well. We take it all the way back to his childhood, being in plays out in California, how he got the role in "The Warriors", which in a lot of ways changed the course of his life. We discuss his career in the music business being an A&R for "Streetwise" Records. Touring with "New Edition" and the "Fat Boys" amongst a ton of other legendary musicians. He has been in several movies including the short film "High & Tight" which caught the attention of the Oscars. Since he started destroying the city in 1986, he has built up a legendary rep within the graffiti world. Running with the king of graffiti, "JA" and dozens of well known and all city writers, he's done some damage. Never bagged by the cops for being a vandal is unheard of... he's the exception. He signed Vision Of Disorder to Roadrunner Records along with Dog Eat Dog and several others. He has written several books such as "Hip Hop Alphabet" and "Hip Hop Alphabet 2" with Kaves from the Lordz of Brooklyn which was released the day we recorded this. He's working on a Sick Of It All book focusing on The Koller Brothers. The man has an extensive resume that dates back to the early 80's. The legendary DJ Eclipse! I met up with him in Queens to chop it up for a little bit. A member of the Rock Steady Crew, Eclipse broke out being a member of Non Phixion after making a name for himself in his town by DJing parties. He takes us through all of that, La Coka Nostra, his history in radio from having "The Halftime Show", his company "Pay to Winn Management" all the way up to his show on Eminem's channel on Sirius Satellite Radio, Shade 45 with "Rap Is Outta Control" with DJ Riz. A lot of history with insight into his career and how he has over 30,000 records in every room in his house including the kitchen but not the bathroom. This was dope to do. Much respect to Eclipse! We picked up where we left off the last time... I met up with rapper "Diabolic" at the same spot. A shit hole bar in Huntington Station, Long Island to catch up. The first time we spoke, he mentioned that he was working on a record with producer "Vanderslice" called "Collusion". Well, that record just dropped along with a video for the song "Think of That". Now, this episode is mostly a conversation about several things and not focusing on anything in particular. From rap to politics, to George Carlin to Nipsey Hussle and all sorts of random thoughts with no direction. Mister Kaves... founder of the legendary group the Lordz Of Brooklyn along with Scotty Edge! Live from The Bad Racket Studio. Kaves invited me out to their studio where they're working on a song to be featured in the upcoming television series, "Gravesend" by actor William Demeo - Mister Kaves brings us back to the block from the late 70's and 80's in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and fills you in on a lot of history. Growing up, family, graffiti, hip hop, neighborhood brawls, the formation of LOB all the way up to the present day. This was a lot of fun to do and I learned several things that I had no clue about... like, Kaves bringing Public Enemy to play in a small club in Bay Ridge. Great stories right here. Respect.

Scott Roberts and Will Shelper make up two thirds of "The Take". Neither of these guys are new jacks to the hardcore scene. Scott being a former member of Biohazard and The Spudmonsters, and Will Shepler from Agnostic Front and Madball have both been on stages big and small around the globe. With their background, record deal, an upcoming European tour and album due out soon, these guys are already making a mark. I sat down with the Cult Leader. ILL BILL. Founder of "Non Phixion", a member of "La Coka Nostra" and along with Vinnie Paz, he is one half of "Heavy Metal Kings". To working with DJ Muggs for the "Kill Devil Hills" record and the formation of "Heavy Metal Kings". There's a lot of history here leading up to his brand new record that he did with Stu-Bangas, "Cannibal Hulk". Danny aka "D-Lux". Danny Shuler from the legendary Brooklyn band, "Biohazard" met with me at the Park Place Diner in New Jersey (of all places) to be my guest on Episode 93. Both Danny and I grew up in Canarsie, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, which I knew but completely forgot about until we started talking. We talk the evolution of Sheer Terror, Joe Coffee, and everything in between. He is one of the most brutally honest people that I've spoken with so far. He calls it how he sees it and has no filter. He is, in my opinion, an extremely interesting person with a very unique personality in which I found refreshing in a way. He pulls no punches and I respect that about him. Anthony "Civ" Civorelli from the "Gorilla Biscuits" and "Civ" along with Jules Massee from "Side By Side" and "Alone In A Crowd" make their podcast debut for a very important reason. "Civ" invited me to his home in New York City to sit down and discuss a benefit show happening on Saturday, February 16th at The First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia for their long time friend Howard "Howie" Glen Wallen, guitarist for "Alone In A Crowd". Howie needs your help. Howie was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma: a slow growing tumor originating off of the auditory nerve between his inner ear and his brain. The tumor affected his balance and ability to walk and caused right side functional deficits. In May 2017, he underwent a 6.5 hour surgery that was supposed to have him back up and running in a month. The surgery, which left him deaf in his right ear, did not remove all of the tumor… and it is growing back. He now suffers from chronic debilitating headaches, loss of balance, cognitive, memory and speech deficits, a tremor in his right arm and hand, vision problems, facial numbness, extreme fatigue, anxiety and, understandably, depression. With these disabilities he cannot work, and that has hit his family very hard. And, as the tumor grows, Howie’s symptoms will only get worse. If left unchecked, Howie’s condition is fatal. So, Howie must have another surgery, a 10 hour surgery, followed by radiation treatment. We can only hope that after this he will improve… but there is no guarantee. Mike Ferraro... Known to most as "Mike Judge". Legendary singer for New York Hardcore band "JUDGE". I met up with him at a diner on Montville, New Jersey. I met him very briefly a couple times, just a quick, "What's up man, great show" type of thing. Shortly after we sat down and ordered coffee, we started talking; it felt like I had known him for a long time. There were a ton of rumors, speculation and misconceptions about him for literally decades. He addresses, dispels and clears up all of them. He speaks on the formation and break up of the band as well as their reunion show at the Black N' Blue Bowl in 2013 at Webster Hall in New York City. And as many wanted me to ask him, which there was no need to because he brings up the topic of new music and the future of the band. It was an absolute honor to sit down with this man. David Howard Thornton is an actor and voice over born in Huntsville, Alabama. He sits down with me over a couple cups of coffee and discusses his journey from the south to Astoria, Queens. He is best known (for now) as the brutal killer, "Art the Clown" in the movie "Terrifier" directed by Damien Leone. It is currently trending on Netflix. He talks about making the film, the things that influenced his body language in the film along with a bit of a deeper viewpoint into the killer clown. This was definitely fun and different to do. From the old days of L'Amour's, Thrash Metal, Hardcore, to the formation of the band, to Jeff possibly getting jumped by someone's husband who was on "Mob Wives", to wrestling... this was a really fun and laid back episode to do. "Grym Galaxy"... a Hip-Hop group born out of the Slums Of Shaolin... Staten Island, New York is made up of Billy Ballantine and Nick Jackelson. Legendary drummer Sammy Siegler! I met up with him at "Puffy's Tavern" in Tribeca, NYC... the place was packed so, we called an audible and went "Live from the Basement at Puffy's Tavern". Ian and I met under crazy circumstances in 2004 in a Therapeutic Community in Rhinebeck, New York. I mentioned him on Episodes 49 and 51 in my "Life & Times" series briefly. Formed by Dave Insurgent and himself in 1981 on the Lower East Side of NYC, they are one of the original bands in the scene. We talk about the 80's, the formation of the band, anarchy, politics, drugs, and a host of other things while drinking coffee in the heart of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. The 2nd in a 5-Part Series focusing on a handful of OG's in the New York Hardcore scene. John Kelly aka "Johnny Waste" is the guitarist for "Urban Waste" and "Major Conflict". We discuss the formation of "Urban Waste" in 1982, the break-up of the band and the resurgence as well as how amazing it is that a bunch of young punk rock kids formed bands way back then and are fortunate enough to still be playing to this day. None of these kids had any idea that they were laying down the ground work for a worldwide movement. We also discuss parenthood and how neither of us thought we would ever be parents. He is the original singer for NYHC Pioneers, "Agnostic Front" and the former roadie for the "Cro-Mags". From working at "Max's Kansas City" on the gritty Lower East Side of Manhattan in the early 1980's, to being a staple at "A7" (now "Niagara") to the infamous Sunday matinee shows at "CBGB" on the Bowery, to living in C-Squat in Alphabet City. John has been there since the beginning of the birth of New York Hardcore. He is arguably the inventor of the "circle pit" which now takes place at shows all over the world on a large scale at times. He has lived an interesting life and, among the NYHC community, is regarded as a legend. It was an honor to sit down and speak to the man. Enjoy!

Grand Master Hosun Kang is a 9th Degree Black Belt in the Kuk Mu Kwan style of Tae Kwon Do with over 54 years of experience, several schools and has taught tens of thousands of students and has created hundreds of Black Belts. His father, Grand Master Suh Chong Kang is the founder of Kuk Mu Kwan and has deep roots in Korea. He tells his father's story of training the Korean version of the CIA during the Korean War along with his journey to America. His extremely successful "Kang System" Tae Kwon Do schools, along with his battle with stage 4 cancer and how he lost everything due to a very close family member. I looked up to this man as a child and was extremely grateful to have been able to do this podcast with him. I hope you enjoy this. Respect.

I hung out with him for a couple days at the convention. After a very memorable couple of days, on the last day of the convention I decided to record what was intended on being a short interview. But, knowing how Tony is now, it turned into him telling a story to me and 3 other people who came to his table for an autograph and a photo. From him cursing throughout a karaoke version of a Guns N' Roses song the night before to dealing out a well deserved beating to Ace Frehley's bodyguard in an elevator for groping Felissa Rose of "Sleepaway Camp" fame. Ronstin Smith is the vocalist and bass player for the New Jersey based 3-Piece Hardcore/Metal band "Unkempt Herald". Currently working on their new record "Kiddo" which will be out in the beginning of 2019. The record is dedicated to his daughter who tragically passed in 2016. Hear his story. I met up with Anthony "Q-Unique" Quiles at a coffee spot on 86th Street in the heart of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn to talk about a couple, two, three things. We talk how he was introduced and brought into the Hip-Hop subculture by "Crazy Legs" of the Legendary "Rock Steady Crew" to being a member of the underground classic group "The Arsonists". How he then went solo and put out several records under "Q-Unique" along with his metal and grunge background. He met "Fieldy" from "Korn", toured with them for several years and learned how a successful metal band works behind the scenes. He then joined a band group called "Stillwell" with members of Korn and P.O.D. then embarked onto his own group "Kings Bounty" with guitarist Mike Dijan. Very cool, laid back conversation with a super nice guy, all while drinking coffee with our pinkies out and eating avocado toast. Yes... we did. Enjoy.

We're back with Brendan Rafferty. Frontman for the NYHC band "SFA" and long time CBGB employee. We pick up right where we left off a few weeks and 3 episodes ago. With a big "Fuck You" to a certain record label he has issues with. He tells all about the infamous "Phil Donahue" and "Geraldo Rivera" shows that featured Punks and Skins from the Hardcore and Punk scenes from that timeframe; some who are still fixtures in the scene to this day. The truth on why CBGB matinee shows stopped in 1989, along with the truth behind why CBGB closed its doors forever and a bunch more... Brendan has a lot to say and has been there through it all. Recorded Live from the "New Jersey Horror Con And Film Festival" at the Showboat in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I had a quick conversation with a cult favorite. Ron Millkie. He played "Officer Dorf" in the original "Friday the 13th". He had a small but memorable role, especially if you're a horror nerd like myself. He was funny, super humble and grateful to be at a convention where people flocked to his table to get autographs and take pictures with him. Especially because he had a small part in a film that was released almost 40 years ago.

This is probably the most "conversational" episode to date. I got together with DJ Alex Kayne, "Dizzy" the infamous L'Amour waitress, "Bud" who was a staple at the legendary rock club and my ex-girlfriend, who was also a regular and practically lived there and guaranteed did some filthy things with rock stars there and on future tour busses with them all. We all sat down in Bay Ridge at "The Brooklyn Firefly" and had a conversation about the Legendary "L'Amour". Some say "L'Amours", and I personally pronounce it, "La-Mawz". The club opened in 1981 and closed it's doors for good in 2004. Every rock and metal band that became a household name played there. From 80's Hair Metal bands in their prime, to Thrash and Death Metal to Hardcore bands and cover bands. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Merciful Fate, King Diamond, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Carnivore, Suicidal Tendencies, W.A.S.P., KISS, Twisted Sister, Overkill, Hanoi Rocks and literally thousands of other bands have done gigs there. This was fun to do, and like I said, there really isn't any questions, so, sit back and listen as if you were at the table with us. Part One of Two... (and maybe more than that) Brendan Rafferty is the singer for New York Hardcore band "SFA"(Stands For Anything)formed in 1984. He worked at the infamous CBGB "Home Of Underground Punk and Hardcore" for a combined 14 years! He was in the U.S. Army, started going to hardcore shows on a consistent basis in 1984 and has seen it all. "SFA" toured the entire United States and Europe. He's very outspoken and pulls no punches, and he doesn't care what you think about that either. Enjoy Part One because this is the "nicer" of the two. We sat down at his gym and we discussed everything from his new project, Canonized, the state of music nowadays, some politics, we even had a couple things to say about rapper 6ix9ine. Baron Misuraca is the singer and bass player for "Carnivore A.D." A reforming of the classic band "Carnivore" strictly to honor the music and memory of Peter Steele who founded the band in the early 1980's. I hung out with him at his house on Long Island and discussed his role in the band, how Peter Steele and him met and became friends decades ago as well as Baron's role in the legendary band "Sheer Terror" in which he played bass for in the early days and appears on early demo tapes. I'm glad we made time to do this. Baron is a sincere and humble guy. I think it comes off as such in this episode. From the heart of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. I met up with six of the members of the L.O.B.S.C. (Lordz Of Brooklyn Social Club) to talk about their inception, how it was formed and what it is that they do. A bunch of guys who know each other since they were little kids, all from the same neighborhood decided to become a part of the club created by Drew; who at 6 years old was featured on the debut "Lordz Of Brooklyn" record "A Family Affair". They create fundraisers and host charity events in order to give back to the neighborhood they grew up in and still have a deep rooted sense of family and community. Unfortunately, a rare trait today. I was happy to hang with these guys for a couple hours and learn about this club. Glad I did. Support these guys! Respect.

Frank Molina... also known as "The Guv'nor" and "Frank 2 Far" has been in the NYHC scene for decades. Singer for the NYHC band "Step 2 Far" and former doorman for the legendary CBGB for over a decade. We met up in the heart of Bay Ridge to have a laid back conversation about whatever came to our heads at the moment. I know Frank for a long time. One of the best guys ever. Respect.

In a very loud and chaotic backstage area at This Is Hardcore 2018, I caught up with Chris Golas (drums) and John Doherty (bass) from Agents Of Man to touch on a few things about their plans, their set at the festival and a few other things. With a little side conversation with Sean Martin of Twitching Tongues and Hatebreed. Sometimes in this environment, you don't know what can happen or who will drop in to say a few words. Steve Mona is the former Commanding Officer of the New York City Vandal Squad. But... he likes graffiti! He's also a 9/11 First Responder who worked on "the pile" for months at a time. On a lighter note, he's part of the Delta Bravo Urban Exploration Team in which Danny Boy from House of Pain / La Coka Nostra founded. Steve is an incredibly genuine and nice guy. Being trapped inside The Electric Factory at This Is Hardcore 2018 for a couple hours due to pouring rain, I spotted Jack from the band "No Option" who opened the show on that Friday and asked to speak to him for a couple minutes. Diabolic is a rapper from Suffolk County, Long Island. He's been in the rap game for decades. His debut record "Liar And A Thief" is considered a "classic" hip hop record by most people. "The Foul Play Mixtape" and "Fightin' Words" are nothing to sneeze at either. His newest record "The Disconnect" is complete and will be released within a few months. He's got classic joints with Immortal Technique, Vinnie Paz and Ill Bill as well. I didn't know what to expect when we met up at a shitty little bar in Huntington Station, Long Island. This Is Hardcore 2018 was an amazing and memorable 4 days. So I decided to do a quick little bonus episode speaking on it. The entire This Is Hardcore Team deserves it. The time, work and passion these people have into putting on, in my opinion, the best Hardcore fest in the United States is second to none.

Me and The O.G. were talking about doing this episode for about 6 months. So, finally, during the weekend of this year's "This Is Hardcore" Festival in Philadelphia, I met up with him at Cresson Street Tattoo and finally sat down to do a little blah blah. He's the singer for "Done Deal", one third of the "Broad Street Breakdown" podcast along with Vinnie Paz and Pablo Regular... who makes several little appearances throughout the episode. One of the best guys I know and absolutely one of the realest. Recorded in the basement at the tattoo shop, away from the chaos upstairs we spoke about everything from old school wrestling, hardcore, shows, the annual Cresson Street Tattoo toy drive,Trump and the 1985 "MOVE" bombing in Philadelphia.
