Living with chronic health conditions can be a challenging cross to bear for both our personal and professional lives, but we’re leaning into the ways we can find the strength to persevere. We explore how nurturing our mental, physical, and spiritual well-being aligns with creating a closer relationship with God, and how our pain can be a tool to help encourage ourselves and others. Join us as we embrace the power of hope in Christ, both in the possibility of healing in this life and our complete renewal in the next.
How can we trust God and maintain a steadfast faith while praying for wisdom and healing when our health is deteriorating, and we're longing for life to be the way it used to be? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by our guest Tia Magno-Wallen in the Magnify Studio for Ep 63 ‘When Your Body Doesn’t Know the Plan: Big Ambition and A Chronic Condition’.

We’re unpacking the difference between societal and biblical views on sex and intimacy. We’ll explore the idea of true liberation, and touch on where modern feminism sometimes misses the mark. We’re getting real about embracing second chances, healing, and creating a deeper, more authentic connection with ourselves and our Creator. This week Jade Tendo tells us her experience of entering and exiting the sex work industry, and switching lanes to profess the Gospel.
How do we process and let go of sexual shame connected to the way we used to live? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Jade Tendo in the Magnify Studio for Ep 62 ‘From Sex Worker to Pastor: Why My Past Doesn't Define My Future’.

Many of us always feel like we’re constantly striving to do better and be better in our careers, in our families, and in our love lives. While there’s nothing wrong with being ambitious to be the best for ourselves, and those around us, we can sometimes find ourselves neglecting our spiritual wellbeing in the midst of trying to have it all as women. We want to see us all thriving in every part of our lives, and find out what lies at the heart of us being at the top of our game.
Can women embrace motherhood and entrepreneurship evenly, or will there always be a sense of lack or guilt for not feeling fulfilled in one area? It’s a sobering thought that death is one of the few certainties of life, and most of us have or will have to experience losing someone close to us. Even as women who believe in the hope of eternal life, it doesn’t make grieving any less painful. Our real and raw feelings aren’t a sign of slow or stagnant healing, but a sign that we cherished someone so dearly and miss them being present in our lives. This week we hear Sarah’s touching story of losing her husband in her 30s and navigating that as a woman, wife and mother.
How can we find balance in taking the time to process life-shattering events and honouring the loss of life, while not being wholly defined by it? There can be a lot of confusion around how we expand our finances and take the first step towards passive income. Some of us might even feel concerned with moral and ethical questions focusing on if biblical values can overlap with an abundant bank account. With the cost of living increasing, we can use wisdom and take practical steps to ensure a good quality of life despite the state of struggling economies across the globe.

There can be tension in feeling like we don’t fit in perfectly in different parts of our lives, whether that be at work, at social events or even at Church. The pressure to conform and be like everyone else can be tempting, but we want to remember that God made us all uniquely and wants us to celebrate that. It’s our job to show up authentically and know that there is power in taking up space in both spiritual and secular circles, especially when we want to be a bridge for people to recognise and connect with Christ.
Why do some Christians think that having a relationship with Jesus means losing our artistic expressiveness and personality? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Natalia Rodriguez in the Magnify Studio for Ep 58 ‘Creativity is Key: Following Jesus Shouldn't Be Boring’.

We can often take life for granted whether we’re going through heavenly highs or laborious lows, and forget that tomorrow isn’t promised. In this episode we are joined by Esther Longe who gives an account of before, during and after she experienced, and miraculously survived a plane crash in 2006. She shares her struggles with survivor’s guilt, and sheds light on her emotional and spiritual growth that took place years after the accident. We discuss the importance of unpacking distressing moments, and also talk about how we can use our personal experiences to help others on their healing journeys.
Where do we draw the line between re-living and acknowledging trauma, and growing from it? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Esther Longe in the Magnify Studio for Ep 57 ‘I'm Part of the 10% That Survived the Plane Crash’.

There are many ways to build a thriving personal brand, but we wanted to lean into the simplistic approach of rooting everything we do in faith, authenticity, and fulfillment. We want to be ambitious women who have an honest digital presence that reflects our personal values. When we press into God and find out what truly matters to us as unique individuals, we can begin to cultivate meaningful experiences and content that inspires others to find success in living their own lives with sincerity and joy.
How can we find the balance between authenticity online and real life, and how much power is there in discerning when and what to share? We enter marriage with the belief that it’s a lifelong commitment, but it requires two people to work at it for it to be a successful union. In this episode we hear Ashley’s story of how there were signs of a deteriorating relationship, and how she finally came to accept it was over on Christmas day. We learn about the journey of healing, developing, and finding her worth on the other end of divorce. Heartbreak isn’t pleasant, but it can unlock clarity and wisdom that strengthens our relationship with God, who never leaves us.
How can we not fixate on the breakdown of a serious relationship, and move forward in a way that liberates us to be ready for the joy that’s waiting for us in the future? There’s a wealth of advice online, and offline about how we should date intentionally with the goal of marriage, but sometimes it can feel outdated, or like we’ve turned dating into a tick box exercise. We’re taking a look at the role of mutual respect, attraction, common interests and spiritual alignment, while also discussing why maintaining a God centered marriage is a constant commitment. It’s time we open our eyes and confront the differences between someone with potential, and someone who has potential to have a successful relationship with you.
How do we discern someone who’s husband material, and not just someone who acts the part? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Magnify’s founder Ruth Yimika Afolabi in the Magnify Studio for Ep 53 ‘How did I know he was the one?’

Many of us are inquisitive women who are seeking to find peace and purpose in the world around us. For some of us this has led us down a path of exploring different faiths, philosophies and practises. We can sometimes feel ourselves pulling away from what we view as more traditional religion because we feel it’s not personal enough, but that’s when we need to dig deeper. Self-discovery, self-actualisation and commercialised New Age trends won’t fulfill us, but we know something that can.
How do we shift from entertaining aspects of general spirituality and cultural Christianity to authentically choosing to follow Jesus? A lot of emphasis is placed on the topics of money and marriage, but when we combine the two we are able to magnify many existing issues, and expose how deep our core values really go. Financial expectations and talking about how we should spend and save isn’t always comfortable, but it is necessary to have a thriving relationship that honours God and our spouse. So much anxiety and fear comes from money dysmorphia, a lack of financial literacy or personal experiences with poverty or debt. We’re learning how to deepen our faith and manage our finances better by tapping into Biblical money management tips.
How do we have open and honest conversations about finances that lead to positive outcomes, when it can be awkward to bring up in a relationship? There’s so many angles to why some women are labeled as strong. It can be used as a compliment that aims to empower us, and other times it’s a dig to reduce our femininity. We can often wonder how our perception from others and ourselves impacts our professional and romantic lives, particularly when it has been suggested that men can feel less important or intimidated by self-assured and self-sufficient women. We want to focus on being secure and confident in who we are, while focusing on mutual respect and faith-focused foundations of treating others amicably regardless of how they perceive us.
How do we successfully work alongside men who are intimidated by our character or presence? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Jayne Doherty in the Magnify Studio for Ep 50 ‘Relationship Dynamics Matter: Why Strong Women Need to Be with Secure Men'.

It’s not rare to feel like we were born with an innate passion or drive. In fact, many of us have spent most of our lives trying to navigate where we should channel this energy. In the modern age, we can find ourselves pouring our time and effort into our careers, which can easily lead to burnout. Dabbling in extremes of laziness or overworking are both harmful, but we wanted to talk about the importance of honouring our interests and dreams with a balanced and faith-filled approach.
How can we embrace our work ethic without it wearing us out, especially when we want to build something significant? Most of us will spend a large majority of our time working, so it’s important that we make wise decisions regarding the environment we’re in. Thinking about deviating from our current career path can be met with a range of emotions, from confused to excited, fearful to liberated, and exhausted to energised. While it’s normal to consider other pathways, we also know that encountering challenges doesn't always mean it’s time to escape. Seeking counsel from God is vital in making key decisions. We also need to take into consideration that some jobs don’t feel like they’re serving us, but that doesn’t always equate to a lack of purpose.
How can we differentiate between having the courage to stay in a job when needed and the courage to leave and thrive elsewhere? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Donita Boateng in the Magnify Studio for Ep 48 ‘Embracing Change: Leaving a Job That Limits My Potential'.

There’s a thousand opinions on what Biblical relationships should look like, and we wanted to look at what a strong and thriving marriage consists of when the woman is the higher earner. How can we turn some traditions and gender expectations on its head while still placing mutual respect, trust and a focus on God’s plans for our lives at the core? Oftentimes the focus on strong women is related to unwavering independence, but we wanted to take a look into why strong women and their counterparts are powerful when they receive high quality support from their spouses.
What if being a woman and the higher earner in a relationship wasn’t a problem, but a benefit? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Kat Tait in the Magnify Studio for Ep 47 ‘Unstoppable Together: The Benefits of Being a Strong Woman in a Relationship'.

Life can seem uninspiring and start to feel monotonous when we’re chasing our tails by living paycheck to paycheck. Once we get to a point where we feel like we’re surviving rather than thriving, it’s likely that it’s time to start reassessing our career options, without limiting ourselves to the 9-5 box. We all have talents and areas of expertise that can be built on to expand our earnings, while using our main job as our base income. Most of us are capable, but need to apply wisdom to securing financial stability for us, and our loved ones by removing any limiting mindsets we have.
How can we make the jump to expand our current salary and generate additional income by aligning our strengths with a thoughtful plan? Many of us have a strong sense that tells us there is more for our skills and jobs. This can stem from a place of dissatisfaction, or be a clear calling to take a leap of faith and live out our purpose. We want to make well informed decisions about changing course, so we can use our gifts and talents in a fruitful way, and show up as our best version for ourselves, others and God. It can be tough to step out of our comfort zones when we want to shield ourselves from potential failure, but when we do that we’re not leaving room for faith-filled growth that strikes the perfect balance between crazy and calculated.
How can we really know when it’s time to make a big career move, and where do we begin? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Dior Bediako in the Magnify Studio for Ep 45 ‘How To Know When It's Time for a Career Change: Unlocking Our Pivoting Potential.

There is often a tension as single Christians where we trust God’s plans for our lives, but also feel romantically lonely when dating hasn’t felt like a successful series of events. We want to always remember that it’s okay to start again and reinvigorate a healthy spiritual mindset whether we're single, dating, in a relationship or coming out of an intense break-up. We want to remind ourselves that there is no one same timeline for each of us, and encourage one another to focus on the importance of making decisions, and choosing partners from a place of abundance, and not a place of fear and lack.
How can we reignite a hopeful view of dating and romance after the end of a serious relationship? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Rio Summers in the Magnify Studio for Ep 44 ‘Swiping Left on Modern Dating: Detaching My Value From My Relationship Status’.

Being a parent is something that many of us consider a milestone moment that we are, or were excited about. Embracing our nurturing nature can feel like it’s best geared towards being a mother, but not all of us will experience the reality of becoming a biological mother. When we encompass love, care and support for others around us we exercise our maternal instincts beyond biological bonds. Let’s never forget to celebrate the strength, resilience and tenderness of women who still positively impact the lives of many, despite the heartfelt and unfulfilled dreams of becoming a mother.
How can we get through the grief of desiring children but never having a pregnancy make it to full term? Listen as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Andrea Pattico in the Magnify Studio for Ep 43 ‘I Didn’t Choose a Child-free Life: Mourning the Mother I Wanted to Be’.

Wanting to pursue our passions and reach our full potential isn’t an inherently bad mindset to have, but it can turn toxic when it becomes all consuming. Burnout is something that can feel inevitable but if we work on learning what leads up to these moments of exhaustion, overworking and zoning out, we can take more of a proactive approach to set boundaries, and become aware of the keys to restoration. We want to live healthy and fulfilling lives that constantly empower us to have a perfect blend of hard work and rest that prioritises focusing on our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
What lies at the core of us glorifying productivity over rest, and how does burnout affect the mind, body and spirit? Watch as our hosts Rachel Calland and Sinead Minkah are joined by Tiwalola Ogunlesi in the Magnify Studio for Ep 42 ‘Breaking the Burnout Cycle: Striking a Balance Between Hustle and Soft Life’.

We are constantly being bombarded with ideals and suggestions of how we as women should live and act. This seeps into all areas of people's lives relating to work, family and wider society. It can be perplexing to know how to slash stereotypes and build confidence, especially when we’re exploring whether being a nonconformist comes from a healthy place of wanting to fulfill our potential, or if it comes from a place of wanting to prove others wrong. A desire to do more and not follow one traditional path can teach us a lot about our confidence, agility and spiritual tenacity.
What should a woman, career woman and woman of faith look like and how do we successfully embrace our multifaceted talents and interests? Exploring and searching for truth and meaning in a world that is constantly embracing different beliefs and spirituality can be tricky. It can feel misguided or taboo when we’ve grown up in a religion or culture that doesn’t encourage curiosity. For many of us, our defining beliefs aren’t just a philosophy or guide to how we live, but a massive part of our identity. We can be shamed for rejecting our roots when we steer away from what we were raised with and that can have painful results. Converting can result in being disowned and experiencing fractured family relationships.
How can we find peace and contentment in the midst of losing closeness with our loved ones, because they don’t agree with our faith walk? Watch as our host Rachel Calland is joined by Fadila Hale and Sahar Twesigye in the Magnify Studio for Ep 40 ‘Leaving Islam, Finding Jesus’.

We all want to put our best foot forward and have the image of being put together and being in our element in our professional and personal lives, but we can often fall into the trap of comparison. We can default to putting on the strong woman persona, because somewhere along the way we have made vulnerability and needing help to be synonymous with weakness. We wanted to discuss where these ideas stem from and why we can sometimes find it difficult to value ourselves when we don’t feel like we’re keeping up appearances.

The experiences and relationships we observe and encounter from childhood and adolescence have the ability to impact how we view future relationships. We can easily solidify our view of marriage, friendship and community based on a negative projection of our earliest representations. We can develop thick skin to protect ourselves from more hurt, but need to recognise that a defensive and overly critical attitude can block our blessings when healthy love and care comes our way.

Mother-daughter relationships are often filled with moments of great friction and great joy. We’re all trying to figure out how to nurture our familial relationships with love and respect, but it only happens through being emotionally, mentally and spiritually mature. Generational patterns and learnt behaviour can slow the pace of strengthening our bonds, but being open and receptive to feedback, while letting go of the fear of conflict allows us to step foot onto the right path.

Being career driven has its perks and building on our gifts and expertise is something to be proud of. However, a good thing like ambition can turn toxic if we end up neglecting our other responsibilities, or becoming too consumed in our work that it ends up compromising our values. It can be difficult to know what sort of women we want to be, and what roles we want to take on, specifically when we want to nurture and grow our careers and our families. Luckily, it is possible to live a life where we create time to have the drive to do both.
How can we let go of the negative stigma surrounding female ambition and celebrate our professional and personal wins with a balanced approach? We can experience a lot of shame and lose confidence embarking on the journey of trying something new but, it’s peaceful knowing that a few blips in the career road don’t erase us from the path of success and embracing our passions.

Addiction is covered in a lot of shame and stigma yet we all know someone who has previously battled with, or is currently battling with one. Some substance dependencies are obvious and others are shrouded in secrecy. People from all different backgrounds suffer from the mental and physical toll it takes on them and their inner circle. Society can be quick to villainize people with addictions, without considering what led them there in the first place, making it increasingly harder to choose sobriety in a world obsessed with excess.

Sometimes it can feel challenging to be proud of our faith in our day-to-day work lives, and at times it can even feel isolating when we feel like we’re in the minority. It’s refreshing to remember that we don’t need validation from people who disagree with our worldview, and we can honour our values by turning up to work and taking pride and care in what we do. When we think about our career journeys, some of us can look back with cynicism and reflect on times when we felt like we were taken advantage of. Past traumas, whether they happened recently or decades ago, have a massive impact on how we navigate the world and interact with people around us. The healing process can feel uncomfortable and bring up past wounds, but there can be purpose found in uncovering the root of our pain and any additional dysfunctional patterns. While that doesn’t mean the things we’ve experienced are fair, it does mean that we can share our mental, emotional and spiritual recovery journeys with others who share similar stories. Being intentional with bettering ourselves psychologically means we have more capacity to show up for ourselves, and our loved ones. That means we all have the capacity to make the world a better, safer and kinder place.
How can we balance acknowledging past hardships, while healing and using that as fuel to help others? Watch as our host Abi McIlrath is joined by guests Marcia Cassidy and Dominy Roe in the Magnify Studio for Do We Have to Be Thankful for Trauma? Turning Pain into Purpose & Overcoming Victimhood.

Many of us have a clear timeline regarding our careers, relationships and family. Although many of us know that life doesn’t always go according to our plans, it can still be hard when faced with life changing milestones that feel like they came about at an inconvenient time. Young motherhood can bring around a mixture of feelings like regret, excitement, confusion and joy, but it should never undermine the complex beauty of new life and growing our families. Navigating this can feel mentally, physically and spiritually complicated at times, but it can become more peaceful with the right support network around us. We are capable of pursuing our dreams regardless of when we have children and want this to be an encouragement to pregnant women, current mothers, and mothers who are heading back into employment.

It’s inevitable that we will struggle with our mental health at different points in our lives. It’s important to know that this doesn’t define us or make us less valuable. Having faith teaches us to give our worries to God through prayer. While we trust God with our problems and believe He is working for our healing and benefit, therapy can also help us in ways that are practical and immediate. However, there can still be a stigma attached to therapy in some faith and cultural circles. As women who want to develop and better ourselves, we know this is an important conversation to have in our community. Listen in as our hosts, Ruth and Rachel, discuss their experience of blending therapy and faith, and how therapy can be used not as a replacement for faith, but in addition to it.

Is it truly possible to have convictions and still uphold everyone and everything? No matter what your background or beliefs are, there is no doubt our current culture appears to be conflicted when it comes to what we tolerate and what we won't. Accepting and supporting everyone undergirds a lot of our conversations, but is complete tolerance a myth? The way the media polarises situations has presented us with a challenge, and we often make assumptions about people with certain values and caricature them. How can we learn to respond well to disagreements as women of faith? Join us as hosts, Ruth and Rachel from Team Magnify, unpack this further.

Dating and romantic relationships are naturally a part of our lives if we’re looking to find a partner; someone we can adventure through life with. Although fun, dating, especially for women of faith, can be complex. Often, we know what we’re looking for, but finding it in someone else isn’t always simple. Today, we talk about the place of values when dating, and how much they play a role in relationships that last the long haul. We look at growing together through good times and bad, and how considering shared values can significantly help when finding a partner.

TW: In this episode, we do sensitively discuss miscarriage. If this is something you’d rather not hear, we’ll be back in two weeks with a new episode, and hope to see you there.
In the second episode of the season, we’re discussing all things motherhood and identity.
Motherhood is a great joy and a privilege, one which although a responsibility, is something that is precious. A lot of women who are considering becoming a parent are anxious about the impact it will have on their whole life, especially their identity. As we discuss this topic today, we look at the different challenges of motherhood, as well as how we can embrace the ebb and flow of the season. We look at how we energise different parts of ourselves so that we can show up as Mums, too.
We hope this conversation is helpful to you, wherever you’re at in your journey of motherhood

In this first episode of the season, we get talking about money. In the context of faith, money can be a topic that divides people - is it good, is it bad? Is it ok to want and work towards nice things? Because of its nature to divide opinion, it can be an area that many of us might shy away from speaking about openly. But, the reality is that we all need money in today’s world, not just to live, but to thrive in our visions and dreams too, so speaking about it candidly can help us all. We tackle the question ‘Is it okay to be financially ambitious as a woman of faith?’. And, being raised with all kinds of different notions about money, can we have a healthy view of it and still grow in faith?

Today we’re going to be talking about purpose. This is a topic we talk about a lot at Magnify, especially within the context of faith and culture, so we’re excited to chat about the reality of what pursuing our purpose actually looks like and what it means in today’s society.
We’re talking to the lovely Kennesha Buycks about this subject. She’s the founder of ‘Restoration House’ a space that helps people to bring out the character in their own home through her shop of restored interiors, advice about design and her written blog.
In this episode, we discuss her journey of finding purpose through ‘Restoration House’, the financial realities of pursuing purpose and what culture gets wrong about it.

The topic of this episode is how to progress and stand out in your career. As a community of ambitious women and men, career progression is important to us and in order to do that, we have to learn how to use our unique gifts and talents to stand out.
To gain insight into how we can do this, we’ve invited Delphine Chui to chat with us. Delphine is currently the Branded Content Lead at Hearst UK, one of the UK’s biggest publishers which looks after publications such as Elle, Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan.
Having worked her way up from intern, to features editor to branded content Lead, and now going freelance at the end of this month and focusing on her charity CareDogs, Delphine has had buckets of experience in how to grow her career.
In this episode, there’s lots of chat about dogs as well as some amazing practical tips on not only how she has established herself as her best version at work, but also the tools she’s using to make her charity stand out too.

Today we’re talking about burnout. It’s a topic so many of us can relate to and have already dealt with in our lives and probably will have to deal with again. Because of the way it can impact our work and our health, it’s important to be aware of it and to know how to manage it.
In this episode, we’re speaking with Rochelle Currie, founder of Australian organic beauty company Nila Botanics. As a mother, founder and author, Rochelle juggles a lot in her life and like most of us has seen burnout in her life which she recognises is as a result of her not wanting to disappoint people.
She shares with us her journey as an entrepreneur, her own experience with burnout, how she recognises it in her own life and how she prevents it.

We all have weaknesses. In a work context these can look like a lack of skill in one area, or spending too much time at work and not enough time at home. For each of us, weaknesses look different. In order to see our weaknesses in a positive light, we must first identify what they are.
K.J Ramsey, therapist and author of ‘This Too Shall Last’ joins us today to chat through this. After being diagnosed with a chronic illness at 20, now 31, K.J has had to face her weaknesses face on.
In this episode, she shares how she was able to shed light and face the other weaknesses that face her in her work, how having weaknesses has been an advantage to her and her tips as a therapist on working through the stress that our weaknesses can bring up.
K.J had so much wisdom to share, so have a listen.

Today we’re talking about feeling stuck in our careers. It’s hard to give our all when we keep showing up yet it feels like our dreams and visions keep getting deferred. So, when things become stagnant in our career, how do we keep moving forward?
Today Elyse Murphy is joining us to talk about her own experience with feeling stuck in her career after celebrating wins that haven’t landed in the way she expected them to or getting promotions that haven’t been what she thought. Now as a coach and author, Elyse puts the lessons she’s learnt along the way into practice in the lives of others.
In this episode, Elyse shares with us how she’s managed to find progress in the stillness, why we need to get off the hamster wheel of our to-do list, and why she created a celebratory scale for her work.

Do you beat yourself up when something doesn’t go right? If something isn’t 100% perfect, do you think it’s not good enough? Does your fear of something not being perfect stop you from saying yes to opportunities? When holding onto perfectionism we hold ourselves to impossible standards, so how do we work against it?
Liz Forkin Bohannon is joining us today to share some of her tips. Founder of Sseko Designs, she spent some time with Seth Godin early on who encouraged her to not focus on the perfection of a design but to focus more on how it can grow. Her own podcast ‘plucking up’ mission is to show that nobody is immune to messing up and self doubt.
In today’s episode, she bares her true self and honestly chats about her own struggle with perfectionism, how as a leader she encourages room for imperfection amongst her employees and how when we show up as we are imperfections and all, we allow permission for others to do the same.

How do you view failures? Do you see it as a career-damaging catastrophe or as an experience that allows you to learn and therefore move forward? We all know we should use failures to help us grow in the area we’re in, but in order to do that, we need to know how to reframe them.
So in this episode, we are chatting to speaker and consultant Jaz Ampaw-Farr on how to reframe our failures in work. In her words, Jaz could easily tell her story of childhood abuse and of being fired from the business reality show The Apprentice from a place of anger, but after years of learning how to reframe, she tells from a place of humour and humility.
Jaz shares how losing her brother made her realise we really do have a choice over how we handle the situations we’re faced with, she hilariously recalls her emotions on experiencing a failure on national TV and discloses the 3 things she does to help reframe the hurdles she faces in life.
This is probably one of the rawest conversations we’ve had yet, so give it a listen.

We all want our work to have a meaning, both personally and on a wider scale too. So, in those times when we may find ourselves in jobs where the meaning isn’t obvious or when we go through times of falling out of love with the work we do, how can we find significance where we are?
Our guest today, Ben Higgins, is the author of ‘Alone in Plain Sight' and the founder of ‘Generous’ a company where 100% of its profits from its products are donated to life-changing organisations. And after starring in the US reality show ‘The Bachelor’ he realised that finding meaning in the work we do is rooted much deeper than our material wealth.
In this episode, Ben opens up about the work he does with ‘Generous’, the key to finding meaning in our work even on the days when the bigger picture is hard to see, and why he’s had to re-define his meaning of success in order to find significance in the work he carries out.

Are there moments in work where you’ve experienced doubt about your abilities? Have you ever questioned your achievements or wondered if you measure up? Imposter syndrome often keeps us from experiencing the fullness of our success and can stop us from going after what we are passionate about. But what are some of the ways that we can overcome the doubt that arises within ourselves?
As the Digital Director of OprahMag.com and a recent first-time author of the book, What Would Frida Do, Arianna Davis has spent over ten years building a career in journalism. We’re talking about purpose today. It’s a big word, and one that we know we can shy away from speaking about because of the weight of the word. But today we’re speaking about it. We’re tackling questions like how to find purpose in our work even if it’s not our dream job? How to carry on in your purpose when those around us don’t understand it? For so many of us work is where we spend most of our time, so figuring out how to have a purpose in our jobs and having the courage to pursue that purpose is so important.
Faith Cho, the CEO of the non-profit organisation ‘The Honour Summit’ and co-pastor of ‘The Presence Church’ has walked in her purpose since the age of 19 years-old.
In this episode, she opens up about how walking in her purpose has at times been a lonely endeavour, how our missional purpose is never actually one stagnant goal but a vision that changes alongside different periods in our life, and how in order to find her purpose and courage to walk in it, she’s had to strip herself back to find her authentic self.

Where do you think the success of an idea comes from? Do you believe it’s in the idea itself or in the process of executing the idea? While the idea itself definitely plays some part in the end success, refining the idea and strategising how to apply it also aids its victory.
Lasanna Ace Harris, Grammy Award Winning Multi-Platinum Producer who has worked with the likes of Lecrae and Nicki Minaj has, through years of developing ideas, realised the importance of refinement in pushing an idea towards greatness.
In this episode, Lasanna unpacks how best to refine ideas, how when applying our ideas we should not be disheartened by potentially limited resources and he also got us thinking about taking the pressure off the end result of something by putting the success in the process, not the final point.

Are you left feeling deflated and unmotivated when you compare your position in your work journey to someone else's'? Do you ever ask ‘why them and not me’? Does it leave you feeling like you’re too far behind or wonder why if you started at the same time you aren’t in the same place as them? When we get caught up in the pace of someone else’s success, we disregard our own success which can take the joy out of what we’re doing.
Today’s guest, Chibundu Onuzo, award-winning author of two novels ‘The Spider King's Daughter’ and ‘Welcome to Lagos’ became successful at a young age and has grown to understand that everyone works differently and therefore progress looks different for everyone.
In this episode, Chibundu spoke about how we have a choice in how much we enjoy the process to get to the destination we are striving for in work, she also got real about asking where the expectations we put on ourselves come from and why it’s so important to break down big goals into small steps.

Do you ever feel like you could have done something better or that you took the wrong path in work? When something goes wrong in your career do you think it’s a reflection of your personal abilities? When we work in fear of doing the wrong thing or going wrong it can prevent us from taking the big swings which help us achieve our goals.
Our latest guest, Jordan Raynor, best selling author agrees. After thinking he had to shut down his business and being fearful he would be defined as a failure by his friends, he realised that by putting his worth in his work meant he was working in fear, not freedom.
In this episode he spoke about how he’s gone from working in fear to working in freedom, the benefits it’s had on his work and he also touched upon why working in excellence is the most loving thing we can do for ourselves and those around us.

We all have big ideas which we want to execute to our best ability. In order to do this, there are days that will feel the same day-in-day-out and on those days motivation can feel hard to come by. The thing that sees us through these periods is mental discipline. So, how can we develop our own mental discipline to carry us through when motivation can’t?
To find out how, we had a chat with Abigail Irozuru, an English track and field athlete who specialises in long jump. After retiring due to an injury and then coming back to the sport, as well as not being picked for the home Olympic games after working and training hard, Abigail shares how mental discipline has been important in her own career in keeping going.
Not only did Abigail give some great advice on the topic all of us can struggle with, but we were also so inspired by how real and vulnerable she got. It’s a great conversation.
