Elyse is a mum of two, a model and was the winner of the Block along with her partner Josh back in 2017. She has just had her second child Zaii 7 months ago and her son Sunny is almost three.

***TRIGGER WARNING: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome***
In those early sleep-deprived days it can be so hard to keep your eyes open, and for so many of us, those middle-of-the-night feeds are one of the hardest times.
You hear about the dangers of sleep sharing all the time, but how often are you warned against surface sharing? Or falling asleep on the armchair after a feed?
On today’s episode, I chatted with Emily, an incredibly brave and strong mother who has made it her goal to spread as much awareness around sleeping with bub as possible. In June of 2023, Emily and Brian lost their precious baby, Ellie, to surface sharing when her partner fell asleep on an armchair after a feed. Emily and Brian were amazing parents to Ellie and I am so grateful for Emily coming on and sharing her story.
You’ll hear:
✨ How to safely navigate those middle-of-the-night feeds
✨ The importance of doing your research before buying any products for your baby to sleep in
✨ Kristy shares her own surface sharing experience that changed the way she feeds her little ones
… and more.
If you want to hear more about what Emily is doing to spread awareness, you can find her @elliesvoice_safesleep on Instagram and TikTok.

Can you even create routines for your newborn?
Happy New Year Mumma!
We have decided to start the year fresh with an episode dedicated to everything newborns. While you can look back on this time as beautifully exhausting, when you’re deep in trenches it can just feel plain exhausting. Not only is there a lot of pressure on social media about what you should be doing but both you and Bub are on a constant learning curve.
To help ease the pressure, on today’s episode, we cover what to expect, what’s normal, and how to lay the foundations early on so that both you and Bub can receive the best gift of all: rest.
You’ll hear:
✨ Why trying to create a routine for your newborn is a one-way road to exhaustion
✨ The cues you might be missing when everything is new and exciting
✨ Whether sleeping in a dark room encourages day and night confusion or not
✨ What might be going wrong if your bub hates being swaddled
… and a whole lot more!
If you’re dealing with the pesky 4-month regression, we have a whole episode dedicated to the topic here.

Ever find sleep training so daunting that starting feels impossible? And what even is a realistic goal for your bub?
We know just how demotivating it can be when you’re sleep training your little one and it feels like one step forward, and two steps back.
When it comes to sleep training, it is rarely an easygoing process (oh how we wish it could be!). One of the best, and easiest ways to combat this is to set small, realistic goals and move the goalpost one nap at a time!
On today’s episode, Beck and I chat about simple actions you can take to make this journey feel less overwhelming. We cover the best time of day to teach your little one to self-settle and the power of being consistent when it comes to creating new routines for you and Bub.
You’ll hear:
✨ Easy steps to train your little one to sleep in a new environment
✨ How you can use age-appropriate nap routines to work towards your goals (and get that Mumma time back!)
✨ How your daytime feeds could be affecting your baby’s nighttime sleep
… and a whole lot more!

Are you ready for daycare?
On today’s episode, we talk about all things daycare with our resident expert, Beck! Daycare creates a lot of mixed reactions, some Mummas might be cheering while for others it might be a stressful change. It can be a scary thing to start with but once you get used to it, it can help you get your much-deserved me time back. And then you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner!
We cover all sorts of topics such as the importance of introducing bottle feeding before starting daycare, steps to help ease the transition, and troubleshooting strategies for those inevitable days when things don’t go to plan!
You’ll also hear:
✨Key questions to ask educators for reassurance about your little one's safety and well-being
✨Essential aspects to research when choosing a daycare provider
✨The importance of teaching your little one to fall asleep without a feed
✨ A simple tip to help your baby become more familiar with caregivers before the official first day!

It is okay to say no to people to prioritise your little one and your own mental health.
It's that time of the year where you are probably getting invited to every event left right and centre, and they ALL happen to be at nap time. The holiday season can be stressful, and the last thing you need is to worry about upsetting anyone (because, let’s face it, feathers may be ruffled regardless!).
On today’s episode, we crafted a game plan to help make the silly season as easy as possible. We share practical tips such as using the car for naps, advice on getting your baby used to the portacot and the importance of establishing a routine before the big day.
You’ll hear:

We always hear “Never wake a sleeping baby,” but sometimes, you just have to.
If you don’t know, split nights are when your baby has an awake period overnight for more than 2 hours, and usually after midnight. This is a super common occurrence, especially with toddlers, and could indicate a couple of things. We know how hard it can be to be cheerful in the morning when bub has robbed you of your night's sleep but the good news is, it's really easy to identify what causes them and why they’re happening!
You’ll hear:
✨ 3 of the main reasons why your baby might be awake when they’re meant to be in dreamland
✨ How to use an age-appropriate routine to find out what changes you can make
✨ Whether it is an overtired or untired problem
✨ The importance of not over-playing your role, no matter how hard that might be!
… and a whole lot more!

“It was a really dark time for me and I was okay until I wasn't. When I hit rock bottom I realised afterwards that it didn't need to be like that. She didn't need to be suffering and miserable during the day from lack of sleep. I didn't need to be suffering either.”
In today’s episode, we are chatting to the lovely Jules Coffey, who you may recognise from her original Instagram account, @newmumstheword
Jules is a mum of three who we worked with when her first daughter Hadley was six months old and most recently with Cedar once she was 19 months.
We hope this episode is a reminder that it is NEVER too late to ask for help whether that is from a professional or your own village.
There really is no hood like motherhood!
You’ll hear:
✨How Jules navigated the external pressures from society
✨The differences between teaching self-settling with a 6MO and a 12MO
✨Why Jules didn’t sleep train until 19 months with Cedar
… and a whole lot more!

Sleep training gets a BAD WRAP! We all hear about it through mother’s groups, we read it online and we are now viewing it all over social media platforms. But today we are putting a STOP to the fear-mongering that parents are experiencing every single day and giving you the ACTUAL science and facts behind it.
We are SO excited to introduce you to Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown, she is a board-certified sleep physician and the founder of Restful Sleep MD. Dr Brown helps women and their children prioritise sleep, achieve optimal health, thrive, and live to their fullest potential.
As a busy physician and mum of two, Funke understands the impact of sleep deprivation on our mental, physical, and emotional health and has made it her mission to help others make sleep a priority.
As Funke says, “Sleep is something we do, it's a natural process, and every organism, every animal, every human sleeps. It's not just luxury. It's a biological necessity.”
If you’ve been unsure about sleep training or on the wrong side of TikTok and are afraid about potential impacts this episode is full of scientific research and studies to give you the information you need to make the right choice for your family.
You’ll hear:
✨Whether sleep training is damaging or affects your ATTACHMENT with bub
✨Discussing the topic of MELATONIN MEDICATION in babies and toddlers
✨The unspoken pattern that PARENTS get into after getting their babies to SLEEP and how to solve it.
… and a whole lot more!

Did you previously have a baby who slept really well and now you’re wondering if they might be broken?
Are they waking every 2 hours overnight? Catnapping through the day? Or for some reason, you just can’t get them to sleep longer than 40 minutes?
…You may have hit the 4-month sleep regression! It is probably the MOST talked about thing in the realm of sleep and parenting.
Now, you may have heard terrible stories from other mums or have been researching like crazy. There is NO NEED to be anxious or stressed about it. It is a developmental milestone and we like to think of it as a progression in your bub’s sleep rather than a ‘regression’.
Just a reminder… All these night wakes and short naps are COMPLETELY NORMAL. You are not doing anything wrong. Today we’re going to be setting some realistic expectations around it and guide you on how best to get through it. You are not alone!
You’ll hear:
✨What to expect and our TOP TIPS on how to navigate it
✨The million dollar question… When will it END?
✨What AWAKE windows are and why they are your NEW best friend
… and a whole lot more!

It took Mon two hours to get her baby to sleep at night … and then within an HOUR, she was back in there.
Welcome to our Sleep Stories episode where we’ll be sitting down with REAL mums to talk about their sleep journey so far and the solutions they implemented to get that good night's sleep we’ve all been dreaming of.
Today’s mumma is Monica who has eight-year-old twins and reached out when her 7.5-month-old just WOULDN’T stay asleep. She was up between 4-6 times a night and day sleeps were virtually non-existent … Mon had tried EVERYTHING including all of the tools she learnt whilst she was at a mother-baby sleep unit with her twins, but no luck.
Within 3 nights of working with us Amber was a new child, Mon could have her cup of tea and watch Masterchef with her husband and twins and has EVEN had Amber resettle and sleep through workmen DRILLING on the tin roof above her room.
Sounds too good to be true? We’ll take you behind the scenes to share with you exactly how this happened and the journey along the way.
You’ll hear:
✨What a hospital stay is ACTUALLY like
✨How to navigate DAY SLEEPS when you have older children with BUSY schedules
✨The reason old-school SLEEP TRAINING didn’t work
… and a whole lot more!

Every week we get HUNDREDS of questions from families about how they can help their child sleep.
BUT just like every human, each baby is so different and it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to articulate exactly why you might be encountering your sleep struggles in a couple of Instagram stories.
SO … we are BEYOND excited to finally bring you The Sleep Teacher podcast where we can dive in deeper to answer all of your sleep questions (and those you didn’t even know you had)
In our very first episode, we are going back to the beginning! I’m Kristy, the founder of The Sleep Teacher and a mumma to 3 gorgeous girls and in these episodes, I’m joined by my co-host Beck who is also a mumma but to 3 beautiful boys. We are both trained baby and infant sleep consultants working alongside one another who have helped over 15,000 families get better sleep.
We started JUST like you though, we were mums … at our wit's end … trying to figure out how to get our babies to sleep.
In this episode, we’re going to share our own personal sleep stories and the things that drove us to become sleep consultants in the first place.
So, if you need help, if you need guidance, if you need education, or you just wanna hear some real and raw chats, tune in! We hope you love it as much as we do.
You’ll hear:
✨ Why you DON’T need to sleep train
✨ What MOST of our clients are afraid of (and why they don’t need to be)
✨ The reason I FINALLY sought help, and what I wish I knew earlier.

Mumma I’ve been where you are. I feel ALL of the pain … and I’ve helped 15,000 other families who have been there as well … It doesn’t have to stay that way.
Welcome to The Sleep Teacher pod. It’s your (judgement free) mother’s group (with a side of certified experts who actually know what they are talking about) and we are here to help answer your burning questions about child and infant sleep with no beating around the bush.
