A compilation of introductory talks from 2022 on the Yoga of Radiant Presence by Peter Brown. This great secret of yoga is that the immediate, concrete being of the yogi, YOUR experiential field, is in fact the entirety of the absolute, the divine. The practice of Yoga is possible because this is so; through investigating the accessible nature of one's experience, the absolute condition can be recognized. Peter Brown made himself available to transmit and teach this Yoga individually, in groups, and at retreats until he passed away in September 2022. http://www.theopendoorway.org/index.htm Our site, Nic Higham nondual therapy: https://nisargayoga.org

In our daily lives, we often find ourselves caught up in the past or the future, in our memories or our anticipations. We get entangled in our thoughts, emotions, and narratives about who we are, what we've done, and what we hope to achieve. Amidst this constant mental chatter, the simple fact of being present, of just being here and now, often gets overlooked.
Yet, when we pause and truly tune into the present moment, we find something profound: a sense of aliveness, a palpable presence that permeates experience. This presence is not an abstract concept or a fleeting sensation. It is the very essence of our being, the foundational reality upon which all experiences are built.
Our very nature is always available, always shining forth, even when obscured by the clouds of thought and emotion. Recognising this presence is not about adding something to our experience but about subtracting – peeling away the layers of misconception and misidentification to reveal the luminous actuality of our true Self.
This presence is closer than any thought, emotion, or perception. It is the ground of all experience, the silent witness to everything that arises and passes away. When we touch this presence, we touch the very heart of reality.

In this episode of the Nonduality Podcast, Paul Dobson and Nic Higham invite the listener to witness how the natural state is ever-present and accessible in each moment by feeling into our sense of aliveness.
The natural state we may appear to discover in this sense of aliveness is actually always already present but may seem to be obscured by thoughts and concepts, says Nic.
“Whatever Is appearing right now is always the natural state – it can’t not be natural. What makes it seemingly unnatural or distorted is in the interpretation of it and then approaching it from the interpretation as opposed to the actuality itself.
Paul and Nic compare the process to that of a Chinese finger trap.
In the conversation Paul and Nic give several key pointers to help us see this clearly for ourselves including how:

To realise the natural state of non-separation, we need to earnestly question the duality we take for granted and be receptive to the wordless truth that remains. When we’ve had enough of our suffering to have realized the usual fixes don’t work and become sincerely curious about other possibilities, we can’t help but open our eyes to wholeness. When we find the courage to be the effortless 'letting go' and live in natural harmony with 'what is', we go beyond the need for routes, maps, and guides and realise that we’ve been searching for home within home. We wake up to the reality that duality is in imagination only and wholeness is actual. All we’re ever searching for is Self-intimacy. We want to encounter ourselves wholeheartedly and relax deeply into our being. Once we know that we are the world and that the world springs from our consciousness, we are simultaneously liberated from desire and fear and become entirely responsible for every manifestation and event. We must remain undefended to touch the unknown, to open to wonder, and abide our suffering and angst—to expand our existential vision and permit our extensiveness. This is the art of living the life that we are is. When we have the courage to be unified with the “isness” of this moment, to be with whatever comes, we might discern that life—our radical aloneness—however different it is from our beliefs and expectations. Explore your sense of aliveness with mindfulness and you’ll sooner or later notice that your observing core is much vaster than you assumed; it’s as encompassing as the space within and around everything.

‘The more we discipline our attention to be present with our immediate noninterpretive experiencing, the more clearly we see that all of our relative experience—our thoughts, feelings, sensations, perceptions—arise in an endless and never-resolvable display.
Experience “liberates itself” not only through its ever-changing flow; it is inherently free—free of solidity, permanence, and conceptual meaning.’

Paul Dobson speaks with nonduality author and teacher John Astin. John says that every experience has two fundamental dimensions. There is the description of whatever appears, and then there is the sheer presence or existence of it. The experiences we define as joyful and clear are, without question, distinct from those we describe as sad or confused. And it’s fine and understandable to prefer some states over others and then seek to have more of the ones we prefer. But what we're suggesting is that there’s another dimension of well-being that resides in the sheer presence and existence of things rather than in their descriptions.

The Nonduality Podcast with Nic Higham and Colette Davie. What is That that seems to mould itself and shape itself in response to experience and is experience itself? Bliss, ecstasy, pleasure, sadness, grief, loss; they're all made of the same stuff. And it's in this realisation, that the freedom lies. As we loosen our interpretations, even the highest interpretation this nameless, vibrant, moving, creating infinite potentiality starts to bubble. And then you see everything that shows up in experience is this bubbling. All you can say is that it is ‘what is’, and it is everything, which means it must be you. When you come full circle, you realise that there never was a separate self. There was literally never anything separating you from ‘what is’. Nothing had to die. Nothing had to be dissolved. It was simply a set of beliefs that the mind had. It's a full collapse of concepts. You null and void everything you've ever thought you know, including everything you've ever heard on the path. And all that arising and dissolving already takes place in what you are as what you are as this self-liberating fact of awareness. The guiding light in changing experience.

There's a lot of importance placed on intellectual knowing, on conceptual understanding. And we get a sense of value from believing we know and convincing others that what we know conforms to the general version of reality. From day one, we're provided with many words and times and definitions and praised for recalling these.
This naming creates a dualistic perception of reality. We then start to live our lives at face value. We don't look beneath the surface of our existence and we go about our lives, believing that what we think is absolute. We're not really engaging with the world around us. If we really get honest and just be real, we don't know anything.
We are living in a storybook as these lives we live out through our thoughts and concepts. None of it's actually happening. What's happening is indescribable in every possible way. It's not what you think it is. It's infinity "infinitying". And we squeeze infinity down into these notions and concepts so we can get a handle on what's going on. Actually, we don't have any handle on what's going on whatsoever. The only thing we can rest on is this is-ness, this happening.

Nondual therapist Nic Higham speaks with Paul Dobson about the reality of nonduality. Everything begins with imagination. As we perceive life, we instantaneously intellectualise it and therefore distort it. The creative storytelling power of imagination projects colour, shape, form, and meaning on the blank screen that is your primary nature. The moment you have a sense of Aliveness and you say “I exist,” the entire universe is created, including your distinctive self-identity in contrast to other individuals. This means that you don’t exist because the world exists; the world exists because you do! The universe is one creative manifestation of the Self, and the body-mind you call you and yours is another, so, as the Self, you’re not limited to them and they don’t ultimately define you. Each finite expression points to fullness yet each cannot contain fullness, just as a single snowflake cannot capture the vast snow of Antarctica. Existence originates from you, exists in you, and will return to you.
One thing you can be completely sure of, with a little introspection, is your vital I-Am-ness which underlies and illuminates the constructions of imagination. I-Am-ness precedes imagining.

In a sense, desire was the principal “big bang.” It’s a mystery why or how such a powerful explosion of passionate desire developed out of unspeakable completeness! One can only wonder: “Life desired, therefore I am.” Thus, in partnership with imagination, it created your personal world along with your hopes and fears and everything in between.
Life often seems random and chaotic, and sometimes misaligned with our desires or needs. The ego thinks it is supreme and that everything should comply with its viewpoint and purpose; it can never be peaceful and harmonious because it’s the opposite of peace and harmony. Part of its nature is an unwillingness to be one with life and a refusal to live in alignment with the inevitable. If it saw that it was one with life, it would instantly perish because its pseudo-existence is based on separateness and it likes it that way. Thankfully, the ego isn’t a permanent entity and its insubstantial nature offers openings to a greater order.
When we say “greater order,” we’re not describing a higher purpose removed from the human paradigm; we’re pointing to life’s unavoidable “isness” or intimate actuality. Events are inevitable, though they’re not preordained by an egocentric, aloof god. This greater order is not something mysterious or nebulous; it’s this here, right now—this flawlessly emerging moment we’re married to. We can feel it, see it, smell it, taste it, and hear it in everything, wherever we are. We can realise that we are always in alignment with it because we are it. Such a realisation transforms our expectations to work with reality, and teaches us that although events may not unfold as we expect, there’s a certain equanimity in honouring the inevitable. When we allow this insight in a natural and unforced way, a pro- found peacefulness amidst the imagined duality communicates itself to us as our unshakable Aliveness. A changeless tranquility, an unqualified gladness become evident amidst the mind’s habitual judging. It’s all-pervading perfection that dawns when life is seen through the lens of Being instead of through the intellect. This insight, this clear seeing is the only real way to make peace and uncover genuine connectivity with the One Life.

We are aware. We are experiencing. This reality is obvious and irrefutable, yet we habitually overlook or bypass this basic fact and instead focus on fleeting facets of experience. Our unlimited experiencing is the constant, unshakable background; we are never not conscious no matter the quality of our experiences. Simultaneously, this awareness is the ever-shifting foreground. Our present experience, despite its flavour, colour or mood, is nothing but experiencing itself. You are not simply ‘aware of’ things; there are no things separate from nondual awareness. All you ever find is the perpetual process of awareness or experiencing, as seeing, feeling, smelling, tasting, and so on. These modes seem to be separate but are actually expressions, or modes, of a singular sentience. You never find something divided from this fundamental and omnipresent fact, only this dynamic aliveness appearing as all. There is, therefore, both an ‘awareness of’ and an ‘awareness as’, and you are these boundless capacities. You are at once every thing and no thing. You are the eternal nondual celebration of ephemeral duality. Our site: https://nisargayoga.org/Music by Scott Buckley - https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/library/
Randall Friend shares the message of nonduality in this recording of a Second Life meeting. Nonduality is not hidden, it’s not a mystery. It doesn't require effort. The reality you seek is already here as this seamless, unlimited, timeless moment of experiencing. So this message is only about the peeling back of the concepts that have been built that seem to obscure our appreciation of life as it is. Nothing is needed. Nothing needs to change. What really is enlightenment or awakening? Reality is simply no longer taken to be made up of separate parts. We no longer imagine a world outside ourselves. There is only the wholeness of what is.

Paul Dobson and nondual therapist explore the truth of infinite non-separation once again in this episode of the nonduality podcast.
We typically think of ourselves as people aware of other people and things: “I am a finite individual in a world of other individuals experiencing separate finite phenomena, none of which are me.” Said simply, “I am aware.”
With an enlightening shift of appreciation, we might come to recognise ourselves, not as limited entities who own awareness, but awareness itself: “I am the unbounded context of experiencing within which phenomena come and go.” Or essentially, “I am awareness itself aware of all that arises.” But this is still not the whole truth because there is a hint of duality.
As our awakefulness unfolds and deepens, we eventually find that this interminable awareness, or experiencing, that we are is the very essence of each passing experience. There is no thing that isn’t this wakeful presence. Indeed, there are no things whatsoever. The subject-object story collapses. Now, our clarified conviction becomes: “I am seamless and infinite experiencing and every experience within me is nothing but me.” Said simply, “I am awareness appearing as all.”

We feel that our unquestioned and inherited beliefs are evidence. The question is, what is evidential? What is factual? What is actual? Dive into those beliefs. And actually, you'll find nothing but the absolute. We're coming back to a very simple way of looking at phenomena, asking ‘What is the nature or anything?’, going on direct investigation. We're not throwing out our assumptions, we're simply seeing if those assumptions have any empirical basis in experience. If find yourself lost in suffering, stuck in your interpretations, you’re overlooking the immediate light of experiencing or nondual awareness itself. That light is fact, and it’s our rock. It’s the ground and the lifeblood of all we know.

Paul Dobson and Nic Higham talk about the nondual realisation that we are timeless infinity knowing ourselves through the temporary imagined play of duality. We assume we are subjects in relationship with other limited subjects and objects. But upon close investigation, we find that all we know is unlimited knowing, experiencing or awareness itself. I don’t know of an object, but only knowing. I don’t experience you, another, but only myself, experiencing. And we find experiencing to be seamless and unbounded. All we know of any apparent thing is the obvious awareness that is all things. We can admit, with considerable ease, that we don’t really know the ‘why’ or ‘how’ of anything. But knowing itself is irrefutable.

Randall Friend speaks about Vedanta, a "nondual" tradition of self-inquiry from Hinduism.
Randall’s site is: http://avastu0.blogspot.com/
Randall describes Vedanta as: similar in many ways to other nondual traditions like Zen or Dzogchen Buddhism, Taoism, Christian Mysticism (Gnosticism) and Sufism from Islam. Advaita is a "sect" or branch of Vedanta which says that there is a singularity of reality, a "Oneness" or one essence underlying all that appears to be.
Advaita means - not-two. This is not a path, not a practice. Advaita is a direct description of reality as it is.
Vedanta means - the end of the Vedas - the end of all knowledge - unlearning - not-knowing. Through investigation into the nature of Reality, called "self-knowledge" - the seeker comes to the realization of the nondual nature of Reality.
Advaita Vedanta does not seek to impart a new set of beliefs, but to rip the rug out from under all beliefs, all assumptions, including the assumption that there is an individual entity or person who exists, who was born and will later die.
In the direct recognition of Reality as it is, the seeker falls away as the root or foundation of all false translations.
Our problem is that we feel limited, we feel isolated and small, temporary, insignificant. Therefore we seek to fill that hole with either things from a material standpoint or states from a spiritual standpoint.
Yet it is this inherent feeling of limitation from which we cannot escape. My belief about myself is that I AM limited, therefore to seek the limitless is always quite frustrating. If my belief about myself is true, if I am in fact limited, if reality is in fact made up of separate existences, then spirituality really is a fantasy. This means that bondage and suffering is the truth of existence.
Yet there is another possibility. That possibility is that I was never limited to begin with, reality was never made up of separate existences. If that is the case, then the only problem is my own ignorance of myself, ignorance of the truth of reality as whole. That ignorance can only be corrected by knowledge of myself, of reality as it truly is. Vedanta is a means of knowledge to know myself.
Nondual therapist speaks with co-host Paul Dobson in this episode of The Nonduality Podcast.
You seek that which you believe is not already present. You fight that which you believe shouldn't be present. In this cycle of grasping and aversion, you are trying to get out of this moment because it seems unacceptable. Despite appearances, what is this moment, really, but the one reality you seek? When this is recognised, there's an opening into what already is and what you have always been.
Knowing that reality is all, we stop getting into arguments with its unfoldment, with the inevitably and actuality of life's expressions. Reality is a perfection that embraces our ideas of both perfection and imperfection. Reality, therefore, transcends all ideas about perfection and imperfection.
Life is free to express in every possible way; everything is the shining forth of itself. It's infinitely pregnant with possibility. All we are ever seeing is the actualisation of all these possibilities.
What is arising, precisely? When you investigate, do you find anything other than aliveness, beingness or consciousness? Without referring to any memories or notions, what is the nature of anything present? The nature of every transient occurrence is the one eternal life we all are. In this sense, any arising can serve as a way into the heart of reality. Even the things that we habitually deem as unacceptable serve as a portal into this truth.

Nonduality can seem decidedly obscure, abstract and complicated, but the truth to which the word points is absolutely simple and accessible. Experientially, Nonduality is about returning to the absolute simplicity of 'what is' before the mind starts breaking up the present moment and complicating it. The truth is that the mind has added dividing lines where there aren’t any, and this is relatively straightforward to recognise. The human mode involves judging, comparing, rejecting and accepting. This contributes to the perception of duality. The perfect, seamless, whole we call life seems to get split apart into infinite amounts of segments. But no matter how many ways the mind attempts to split life, it is always one and its expressions are therefore equal. So we can deeply question what anything is, to look beyond our habitual assumptions. What is the nature of the countless appearances of life, if not life itself? In the spiritual search (and indeed in any search, ultimately), we're seeking reality beyond limitation, beyond conceptual storytelling. There's only nondual reality being itself and expressing itself through illusory duality. There's only the one life seemingly losing itself through thought, and finding itself through realising the basic nature of thought.

Paul Dobson speaks with nonduality author John Astin. This is part 2. There's a certainty of something being here; the presence is quite certain. What it is, however, is entirely uncertain. What we're looking for is here. Presence is already here before we ever start to look for it. Before we ever do some practice to get ourselves into it, reality is here, inexplicably. It’s this explosion of life, we, as an individual that imagines ourselves somehow seeking the presence of reality, seeking to get ourselves more connected with it, more present to it, there is the presence of reality showing up as everything that is already the case. The presence doesn't need to be achieved or cultivated. This moment is the achievement of presence. You and I, whatever we imagine ourselves to be, are none other than the cosmos itself. This absolutely seamless whole that has no pieces or parts. There's not anything to grasp hold of, to manipulate, to accept or reject. There's not anything that could either represent a benefit or a threat, because they are not separate things. There's just seamlessness. That's the peace that passeth understanding. Everything is the movement of this liberated ocean of existence. Every experience is a doorway into infinity because everything is made of infinity; the absolute unfathomable energy of the universe. John Astin's site: https://www.johnastin.com/mediaOur site: http://nisargayoga.com/ Music: Scott Buckley - https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/library/
Paul Dobson speaks with nonduality author John Astin. We have language and concepts to describe the myriad things we experience, including ourselves. But the inquiry in the exploration of nonduality is: let's start with present experience. What is life experientially? What is the actual experience of this moment? That's all we can actually investigate - what's actually here. After all, it can't be denied that something's present, actual and palpable. What is it that we're experiencing when we describe any element of life or existence? There's really no answer to these questions, ultimately. But it's powerful to see that we don't arrive at a final conclusion when we feel our way into what's here, what's present. What's actually palpably here is just here, with no precedent. And so, in a sense, that which is present is without context. It's free of any prior knowledge framework to contextualise it; the starting point is 'This.' It’s really fun and illuminating to come back to the barebones actuality of this instant, of this explosion of reality. It's a state of constant becoming and opening. But it actually never quite becomes anything definite because this emerging doesn't stop. And it's astonishing to just feel into the expressions of life this way, including what we take ourselves to be. Our beingness is alive and always flowing. So how could we define anything that we call ourselves? We can't grasp this self-sense because there's not something solid or fixed to hold. Just look and see: the ways we categorise people, places, and things is a nice fantasy, but it's not an actuality. John Astin's site: https://www.johnastin.com/mediaOur site: http://nisargayoga.com/ Music: Scott Buckley - https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/library/
Paul Dobson and nondual therapist Nic Higham talk more about nonduality.
You are the light of experiencing or awareness. Are you not experiencing or aware? You are conscious and your consciousness enlightens each expression of itself. It illuminates the known; this seamless display of experience, expressions of the same light that you are. Everything is enlightened and enlivened by your experiencing. So you're already enlightened, in that sense. It's not like you have to attain experiencing or awareness. What else is there? This awareness is what you are and it’s full of potential - absolutely brimming, overflowing with possibility.
This awareness is freedom. There's nothing to cultivate. There's nothing to do or undo. Presence is always what is regardless of what's going on, despite what is present. We cover presence over with thinking and interpreting and overlook the presence of awareness. But even distraction occurs within presence. So there's nothing but presence. It turns out that all our ideas about life, all our interpretations can't be verified ultimately. But we can be certain that all appears from and within the one, seamless experiencing that we are.

Here's another episode of the nonduality podcast. What is nonduality? What is life? Who am I?
Our usual orientation is one of being a separate limited ego entity within a boundless universe, feeling very small and powerless, always craving a deep connection with the entirety of what is. We seek a way to heal an imagined divide through clinging and pushing away certain experiences.
There’s another way: waking up to the reality of non-grasping. In truth, reality does not grasp nor reject any manifestation of itself.
As the great nondual commentators have always said, you are open and undivided awareness - reality itself - and within you, as the great meditator, are many objects of meditation which are nothing but you. Rather than trying to accept and accommodate you can simply notice the actuality of your existing ungrasping nature. There’s nothing to remove or include. Nirvana, or freedom, already is, but you've tricked yourself into thinking that you're not this unbounded awareness.
If you investigate the quality of your direct experience, you’ll find that it’s saying nothing but “This”. Like the sky it's open and completely ungraspable, yet it appears tangible and split up. It’s an ever-moving river, always shifting, always changing, completely fresh and new, while utterly constant and dependable.

Nonduality author and therapist Nic Higham speaks with co-host Paul Dobson about all things nonduality. In his book, I Am That, Nisargadatta Maharaj says: "No thing in existence has a particular cause; the entire universe contributes to the existence of even the smallest thing; nothing could be as it is without the universe being what it is. When the source and ground of everything is the only cause of everything, to speak of causality as a universal law is wrong. The universe is not bound by its content, because its potentialities are infinite; besides it is a manifestation, or expression of a principle fundamentally and totally free. Every event is the effect and the expression of the whole and is in fundamental harmony with the whole. Reality is simple — all is one, harmony is the eternal law. The law of balance reigns supreme." https://nisargayoga.org/ Music by Scott Buckley - https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/library/
Here’s part two of Paul’s conversation with nonduality author and teacher John Astin. Our primary idea is of being separate from the whole of reality. We imagine we exist as independent creatures like waves imagining they are separate from the sea. We’re searching to feel at home. Our habitual instinct, however, tells us, “This moment isn’t home. It doesn’t look or feel like my idea of home. I’m going to do all these spiritual practices and inquiries and I’m going to find home.” In actual fact, there is only home. Home is reality; it’s the reality of home. We are the expression of some indivisible ocean of existence. Conceptually we can conceive of distinct objects, but experientially we don’t actually experience separation. We only ever experience experience itself and experience doesn’t have boundaries. We can see if our unquestioned ideas have an empirical basis in experience. When we explore with care the field of experience, we discover the nature of life and find that it doesn’t collapse into definitions. We find that life is not actually divided in any way, and we realise this fact by simply looking here and now within the unlimited field of what is. There’s the possibility of a relaxing of the search for something else, for answers, for solutions to apparent problems. Real equanimity is in the discovery that there’s only equanimity. The wave-like movements of the mind are being moved by the ocean of reality. The one reality is moving all waves, each manifestation of itself. Everything is that totality. We are never not at home. We are the home we seek. Our site: https://nisargayoga.org Music by Scott Buckley - https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/library/
Paul Dobson speaks with nonduality author and teacher John Astin.
If we want to find wholeness, we have to look somewhere other than within our habitual perception of distinction and differentiation. We have to discover the nature of all beyond characterisation.
There’s always a relentless constancy, a fact of beingness, of the existence of everything no matter the descriptions. This immediate actuality is where we discover the totality that shines forth as what we characterise in different ways. The totality is that which is inclusive of everything.
What we call the interpreting mind that seems to split and divide and turn the totality into seeming pieces, is actually the same totality. It’s the fundamental basis of everything and it gives rise to this moment, including any dualistic conceptualising.
There's a beauty in ‘what is’ even when the present moment feels difficult. That beauty is transcendental, and it doesn't have an opposite. It's a beauty that's inclusive of all things because it is all things. There's nothing else but that, the one reality. It's an unthinkable energy that’s bursting forth as each instant and it’s unthinkably intelligent. It’s the pure presence of this radical open-ended, unstoppable, embrace of apparent multiplicity.
What we think of as our little isolated separate ego-self, is absolutely none other than the boundless absolute reality. That's what we are.
John’s site: https://www.johnastin.com/ Our site: https://nisargayoga.org/ Music by Scott Buckley - https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/library/
Paul Dobson and nondual therapist Nic Higham talk about the radical inclusivity of effortless experiencing.
There is one infinite, indescribable, inconceivable reality, and we are that. This reality is full of nothing but itself and absolutely in love with itself. Incredibly, through the human perspective, we seem to have condensed ourselves down to tiny little stick figure ideas about ourselves. Our unquestioned beliefs often convince us. Consequently, we feel limited, we suffer, and we seek the end of seeking. As people, we know the reality that we are through the play of opposites, which are never absolute and always relative. Our forgetfulness is like forgetting the sun is present while the moon eclipses it. The truth is, reality is forever appearing and responding to itself through seemingly different, dualistic forms. However, we forget the boundless context within which everything appears. While this is often our experience, it is possible to realise that no appearance can truly limit us, that no one expression is our entirety. Nor are we composites of thoughts, feelings and senses. We can recognise that nothing is out of place, for whatever is here is simply the inevitable actuality of life. As life, we can hold and contain it all, no matter how things may seem on the surface. We are free from the temporary and the relative because they don't define us ultimately. Simultaneously, every appearance is equally permitted to arise since there is nothing but reality. In this exploration of the non-dual nature of life, we're not trying to redefine anything or to reach a philosophical or spiritual conclusion, but seeing if our existing definitions and conclusions are valid through deep inquiry and investigation. For this, we need only look within our direct experience and discern that which is most certain, truthful and dependable.

The stories that the mind tells are just stories or thoughts. They’re never really true. We have a certain view, but we don’t really know anything. When we go into the sensory reality of anything, there is nothing solid there at all in the space of awareness. When you actually tune into the actuality of the body, it's not solid at all nor separate from its environment. The whole spiritual path is really just about seeing through delusion. The more we recognise the fluidity of everything and the insubstantiality of our ideas, the more we’re able to be at ease with things being exactly the way they are, which doesn't mean we might not do something to change things. One moment there is transcendence, and the next there is the personal story. Neither need be dismissed. But there can be a noticing that there is one whole appearing in this aware space.

As ever in these nonduality meditations with Nic Higham, the invitation is to enquire into your direct experience. There is nothing to learn here, to impart to, transmit. No magic tricks. Only reality as it is. Only this moment, this presence as it is. When we enquire into this, we are not seeking understanding in terms of something the mind can grab hold of and own. We're simply resting into what already is. You already know what is. You're never not here, never not now, never not present, never not aware. Just be. There is no need to work out what this being is, to understand it, even to find it. Without effort, what is there to understand? You simply are. When we are conscious of our presence, we say, think, or feel "I am." This 'I am-ness', as Nisargadatta Maharaj called it, is the recognition of your being here, now.

What is nonduality? There appear to be separate individual beings who have their own existence and who are separate from each other. The mind derives its knowledge from observation of the actual. However, knowledge itself is not actual. It’s nothing but a symbol of That which is beyond the symbol. There has to be a separate existence of something else to be a separate experiencer, and there isn’t. You can't find one anywhere. It's all one seamless flow. All is reality. All is life. There is no division. Everything is, in the truest sense, absolutely one. There’s a radical inclusivity, an unconditional acceptance. It's not about even trying to cultivate love and compassion. The awareness that you are is already loving. It’s all completely allowed no matter what your mind is coming up with or telling you. The notions we have about ourselves and life eventually disintegrate, because the hard truth is they are only concepts only. They are constructs only.

We explore the nondual awakening or enlightenment journey from dreaming, seeking, awakening, deepening to ceasing.
Most of us are living from our unquestioned assumptions until something happens in our experience that causes us to begin to question. We move from that place of unquestioned assumptions to acknowledging that something in our experience needs our attention. Something breaks open in our own direct experience and we say to ourselves, “I really don't know anything at all!” There is a recognition of why there can’t be an answer to be found. If you come to terms with the fact there is no answer, the quality of seeking dissipates. The flame goes out.
