Today, on Crime & Entertainment, we have Lou Balestrieri. Lou grew up in NYC and as with most kids, you become 1of 3 things, a criminal, a cop, or a firefighter. In Lou's case he had careers in 2 out of the 3. Starting out running numbers and eventually moving on to selling swag merchandise. He would also go on to dabbling with insurance scams. However, a change of course happened with Lou, and he joined the NYPD. With his experiences on the street, it gave Lou the edge that he needed to become a great cop. He eventually wound up making a detective and being involved in a case that brought down the stranglehold the Mob had on garbage in NYC. This case was known as Operation Wasetland, netting countless convictions and generating millions of dollars for the city would lead one to think Lou was on his way to the top. Lou quickly found out the NYPD & The Govt aren't that much different Mafia in many ways. Lou is now an accomplished author and is working tirelessly to bring his story to our television sets with a riveting documentary on his accounts. In the meantime, enjoy this episode with my pal, Lou Balestrieri here on Crime & Entertainment.

Today, on Crime & Entertainment we have The King of CT Matt Granahan back on the show. We dive into the crazy tale of Jon Du Pont. Du Pont built a state-of-the-art training facility at his estate, which he renamed Foxcatcher Farm. In addition, he established an Olympic wrestling club, Team Foxcatcher, one of only a few such organizations in the United States, and he recruited top wrestlers, among them Mark Schultz, the younger brother of Dave Schultz and also an Olympic champion. Du Pont was an extraordinarily generous sponsor, providing stipends, travel expenses, and for some, free housing at Foxcatcher Farm. Among those living at the estate was Dave Schultz, who was a coach for Team Foxcatcher and was also in training for the 1996 Olympics. However, not all was well with Du Pont as he was known to drink heavily and to use cocaine. He seemed to have little control over his temper, and he had an extensive arms collection. He required others to cooperate in maintaining his fantasy that he was himself an accomplished wrestler and athlete. Du Pont became increasingly prone to delusions, many of them paranoid in nature, especially after his mother’s death in 1988. His erratic behavior was dismissed by many of his wrestlers and the police force as eccentricity, and few people regarded him as dangerous until he fatally shot Dave Schultz at Foxcatcher Farm in January 1996. Du Pont was captured after a 48-hour standoff. He was convicted in 1997 of third-degree murder and was adjudged to be mentally ill. Du Pont received a sentence of 13 to 30 years, and he died in prison.

Today, on Crime & Entertainment, we have Ciro Dapagio back on the show. The last time Ciro was on, we were celebrating the worldwide release of Mob King at the premiere part at the world famous Guitar Hotel at the Hard Rock. Today, we get the scoop on his latest mob based film, Silent Partners. I had a chance to see some of the film at Dances with Films, Film Festival in NY in December of last year. The story was phenomenal, and cast included household names like Antoni Corone, James Russo, Joseph D'Onofrio & Garry Pastore. He also details a medical miracle as he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and just like in the movie business, he defied the odds and is continuing to grow his legacy for his family and kids, all while helping others along the way. I'm truly honored to call Ciro a friend of mine, and we at Crime & Entertainment wish him nothing bit the best.

Today, on Crime & Entertainment, we have the story of Jamilla Thomas. I recently met Jamilla at a restaurant in New York this past weekend. She shared a story with me that at the time she had less than 72 hours before, she had to surrender to a federal prison to serve 3.5 years behind bars. How did an educated woman with a masters degree get caught up in a conspiracy case to distribute illegal substances?? The story is one that could very well happen to anyone when love throws blinders on our vision. Jamilla will be days into her incarceration when this is aired. However, she has plans to not waste her time incarcerated. She will begin a vlog that will chronicle her time behind bars as well as begin to work on her book detailing her experiences. So, get ready for a tale of the 25th Hour for Jamilla Thomas here on Crime & Entertainment.
If you feel inclined to support Jamilla, you can do so here at this address.

Today, on Crime & Entertainment, we have investigative journalists, Chris Todd. Chris helps shed some light on the recent reports that have come out on OJ Simpson and his involvement with Mafia & Al Cowlings. There have been reports that members of the Mafia were complicit in infamous m*urders of Nicole Brown Simpson & Ron Goldman. This could very well be the greatest Mob story never told. With OJ's recent passing, I have a feeling a lot of things are going to surface involving the details that have been hidden from the public for years.

Today on Crime & Entertainment, we have former Army Veteran, Paul Schiffbauer. After the Army, Paul got a civilian job that led him to eventually head a criminal enterprise. He eventually ended up rubbing elbows with politicians who were making “political donations” that were really pay-offs. He was also heavily involved in racketeering, money laundering, bribery, fraud, and extortion. However, this whole empire came crashing down as Paul details in todays episode.

Today on Crime & Entertainment I had the privilege of speaking with Chris Colombo, the son of the late Joe Colombo Sr. You might remember the name Joe Colombo as a prominent figure in Italian-American history. Back in 1971, a tragic event unfolded during a massive rally at Columbus Circle when Joe Colombo Sr. was shot. Chris, who was just 9 years old at the time, witnessed this shocking incident. After that period of his life Chris would go on to become one of the most successful bookmakers in New York City, taking 100's of 1000's of dollars of action a day. After a brief stint in prison Chris is now taking the podcast world by storm with his own show Taking Action with Chris Colombo. The Link can be found below. Chris cover sports picks, interviews with celebrities and he warns the youth of América about the dangers of sports betting. This is a fantastic interview with one of the most powerful speakers I've ever had on this show. Enjoy!!!!

Becoming a made man during the 1950s, LoCascio was a bookmaker and loanshark for the Gambino family. Later on, he was promoted to caporegime of a crew in the Bronx, New York. After the December 1985 assassination of boss Paul Castellano, Gotti became the new Gambino boss and LoCascio joined his inner circle. When underboss Joseph Armone went to prison in 1987, LoCascio became acting underboss; When Gotti reshuffled his administration later on, promoting Salvatore "Sammy the Bull" Gravano to Armone's position, LoCascio became acting consigliere.
On December 11, 1990, LoCascio was arrested alongside Gotti and Gravano and indicted for racketeering. At the time of his arrest, LoCascio was still publicly identified as the Gambino family's underboss. At this time, Gravano decided to become a government witness and testified against his former associates. On April 2, 1992, LoCascio was convicted on racketeering and conspiracy charges, as was Gotti. On June 23, 1992, both Gotti and LoCascio were sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. When asked to comment at his sentencing, LoCascio made the following remarks:
"First, I would like to say emphatically that I am innocent... I am guilty though. I am guilty of being a good friend of John Gotti. And if there were more men like John Gotti on this earth, we would have a better country."

Ricardo "Richard" Leyva Muñoz Ramirez dubbed the Night Stalker, the Walk-In Killer, and the Valley Intruder since his attacks were first clustered in the San Gabriel Valley, was an American serial killer and sex offender whose crime spree took place in California between June 1984 and August 1985. He was convicted and sentenced to death in 1989. He died in 2013 while awaiting execution.
Ramirez's highly publicized home invasion and murder spree terrorized the residents of Greater Los Angeles and later the San Francisco Bay Area over the course of fourteen months. However, his first known murder occurred as early as April 1984; this crime was not connected to Ramirez, nor was it known to be his doing, until 2009. Ramirez used a wide variety of weapons and different murder methods, including handguns, various types of knives, a machete, a tire iron, and a claw hammer. He punched, pistol whipped, and strangled many of his victims, both with his hands and in one instance a ligature, stomped at least one victim to death in her sleep, and tortured another victim by shocking her with a live electrical cord. Ramirez also frequently enjoyed degrading and humiliating his victims, especially those who survived his attacks or whom he explicitly decided not to kill, by forcing them to profess that they loved Satan, or telling them to "swear on Satan" that there were no more valuables left in their homes he had broken into and burglarized.

A Hollywood writer and producer is currently suing HBO claiming that the network stole his concepts for a TV show. Jack Piuggi, who owns Flipp Productions, claimed that after stealing his concepts, HBO eventually went on to produce two shows for the network called Fake Famous (HBO) and FBoy Island (HBO Max) which were based off of Piuggi's original ideas. This is a cautionary tale that robbery is not necessarily limited to the streets. In the business world, you can be robbed millions of dollars with just the scribble of a pen.

Today on Crime & Entertainment, we have one of the most powerful interviews I've ever done. We recently reached the 6 year anniversary of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas. Today's guest, Ashley Hoff, a survivor of this tragedy, shares the horrible details and experiences of that tragic night. Ashley is also the executive producer of the documentary, "11 Minutes" that details the events of that night minute by minute.
The documentary detailing the shooting is an emotional and inspiring four-part series about survival and resilience. It covers the survivors' perspectives, with a great deal of footage collected from cell phones of concert goers that night as the events unfolded. You can stream "11 Minutes" on Paramount Plus. It is a must-see documentary.

John knew exactly what to say to sweep Debra off her feet. She was ready to take a chance on him, and on real love. However, John Meehan wasn’t who claimed to be. He had been released from prison in October 2014, only two days before he met Debra, after serving time for violating a restraining order.
The two soon moved in together — and that’s when the true Dirty John began to emerge. He became increasingly violent, and isolated Debra from her daughters, Jacquelyn and Terra, who were suspicious of John from the start. When the Newell women dug into his past, they uncovered a web of lies and crimes. And, before long, John’s violence turned from Debra to Terra, who barely escaped with her life. She details in this show how she fought for her life after being attacked in a parking garage by John Meehan that day. Also, how the effects of that day is a struggle years later and she even has her own podcast detailing the difficult roads that survivors face after the trauma is over. These days Terra is a life coach and dedicates herself to helping those who have had similar situations. You can find links to that and Terra's socials below. Today, on Crime & Entertainment, we have our debut episode of Behind the Serial Killer. What a way to kick it off with myself & Ignacio Esteban, as we break down none other than Albert Fish. Hamilton Howard "Albert" Fish was an American serial killer, rapist, child molester, and cannibal who committed at least three child murders from July 1924 to June 1928. He was also known as the Gray Man, the Werewolf of Wysteria, the Brooklyn Vampire, the Moon Maniac, and The Boogey Man. Fish was a suspect in at least ten murders during his lifetime, although he only confessed to three murders that police were able to trace to a known homicide. He also confessed to stabbing at least two other people. Fish once boasted that he "had children in every state" and at one time stated his number of victims was about 100. However, it is not known whether he was referring to rapes or cannibalization, nor is it known if the statement was truthful. Fish was apprehended on December 13, 1934, and put on trial for the kidnapping and murder of Grace Budd. He was convicted and executed by the electric chair on January 16, 1936, at the age of 65.

On Sunday June 18th 2023, OceanGate's Titanic-bound submersible, The Titan, went missing with five people on board. Hamish Harding, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman Dawood, and Stockton Rush, the CEO of the tour organizer, OceanGate Expeditions, all unfortunately died in the craft. The world waited for a miracle to happen, as rescue workers worked fiercely around the clock to hopefully locate the missing submersible. Having only approximately 96 hours of air supply was a horrifying thought as the world waited and hoped for a miracle. However, details soon emerged that the Titan Submersible suffered a “catastrophic implosion,” killing everyone on board. According to reports, a remotely operated vehicle found the tail cone of the Titan about 1,600 feet away from the bow of the shipwreck. Now questions are rising concerning the safety measures compromised. Were corners cut while preparing this submersible to reach the depth of roughly 13,000 feet where the Titanic now lies? Titanic Expert, Bill Willard, joins us to discuss what may have actually occurred on board the OceanGate's submersible. So, strap in and let's take a in-depth look into this catastrophic disaster of the Titanic-Bound submersible from OceanGate here on Crime & Entertainment.

Today, on Crime & Entertainment, we present another installment of "Behind the Gangster." On this show, we will deep dive into a particular gangster's life that has been portrayed on-screen. As audience members, we often wonder about the validity of story lines within organized crime movies. Well, "Behind the Gangster" will allow you to get the answers. Today, alongside Anthony Ruggiano Jr. we will give a perspective of Angelo "Quack Quack" Ruggiero.
Angelo Ruggiero was a member of the Gambino Crime Family and a friend of John Gotti's. Once Gotti became leader of the family he made Ruggiero a Capo. Although he showed little organizing or money making ability, anyone questioning Ruggiero's suitability for a top position in the hierarchy did so at their peril; the FBI regarded Ruggiero as an unpredictable psychopath not amenable to confrontational tactics. Ruggiero was also heavily involved in narcotics trafficking. Before John Gotti took over the Gambino Family, then Boss Paul Castellano, made it clear that he didn’t want his men dealing in drugs. This was bad news for Gotti and Ruggiero, who were already heavily involved in trafficking heroin by the early 1980s. It would have been a good time for Ruggiero to keep his mouth shut and do as he was told. Sure enough, one of Ruggiero’s crew was soon arrested in connection with dealing heroin, and it came out during the ensuing police investigation that Ruggiero had been caught on tape discussing both his criminal operations and his distaste for Castellano and other senior leaders of the Gambino family. In most cases, this would have been enough to get Ruggiero killed. However, his uncle, Aniello Dellacroce, happened to be the underboss of the Gambino family and was able to protect him. The Ruggiero tapes also gave the police cause to bug the homes of a number of Gambino family associates, giving them enough evidence to arrest Castellano himself. When he got out on bail, he was furious with Ruggiero, but Dellacroce was still able to protect his nephew — until the old man eventually died of cancer in 1985. With Dellacroce dead, Ruggiero in a world of trouble, and Castellano’s no-drugs policy cutting into potential profit, Gotti decided the time had come to take Castellano out. On Dec. 16, 1985, gunmen acting on Gotti’s orders murdered Castellano as he left a New York restaurant. Ruggiero was waiting with the backup team of shooters, never called into action, down the street. This was largely planned out by Ruggiero. However, more tapes would surface and a series of bad decisions and arrest eventually led to Gott shelving Angelo for good from the family. While awaiting another trial after 2 previous ones that ended in a hung jury, Angelo Ruggiero succumbed to terminal lung cancer in 1989. Gotti had refused to visit his old friend on his deathbed. Let us know your thoughts on the effect Angelo had on the mob.

Today on Crime & Entertainment we dive into the mind of a high-end art thief, Joselito Vega, otherwise known as Picasso Vega. Vega, a 42 year old who worked for Zimmer painting Inc., allegedly stole three works of art in March of 2011 from a well-known art collection. Vega was facing up to 26 years in jail after being arrested for charges stemming from the art theft. The theft took place in the Schulhof estate, a Long Island mansion which houses over 300 twentieth century artworks valued at millions of dollars. When one of the pieces — Jean Dubuffet’s Armchair II — was sold at an auction, investigators traced the payment to a Brooklyn mailbox belonging to Joselito Vega, who had been hired to paint the home prior to the paintings’ disappearance. Police nabbed Vega in a sting operation when Vega was invited back for another paint job at the Schulhof house, where he was videotaped “scrutinizing” a crate full of paintings before placing three selections (one of which was a Picasso) in a black garbage bag. But Vega’s defense attorney says that prosecutors laid an unfair “trap” for his client. Further, his lawyer contended that Vega “‘couldn’t know much about art’ because he is accused of selling a painting ‘he was alleged to have stolen for $10,000 when he should have sold it for $50,000." The whereabouts of the other two stolen paintings — Frank Stella’s Tuftonboro (appraised at $25,000) and Norman Lewis’s Flower (appraised at $10,000) — are still unknown. A judge eventually determined that Vega was even more valuable than the art he stole and set his bond at $1 million. This crazy tale was recently made into a documentary called "The Picasso of Thieves." So, tune into this crazy tale of art theft turned documentary here on Crime & Entertainment.

Today, alongside Anthony Ruggiano Jr. we will give a perspective of the Teflon Don himself John Gotti.
John Gotti is one of the most charismatic & polarizing mafia members ever in the history of LA Cosa Nostra. Gotti, alongside his brothers, grew up in poverty and turned to a life of crime at an early age. Gotti quickly became one of the crime family's biggest earners and a protégé of Aniello Dellacroce, the Gambino family underboss, operating out of the neighborhood of Ozone Park in Queens.
Gotta would rise through the ranks and become a full made member of the American Mafia. When long time Boss Carlo Gambino passed away many thought the job would go to Underboss Aniello Dellacroce, however the spot was given to Paul Castellano his nephew. The resentment of Gotti plus the fact that his brothers and members of his crew were dealing drugs only fuled the fire that was burning. Aniello died shortly after Paul became boss and FBI's would bring down indictment of members of Gotti's crew for selling narcotics, Gotti began to fear that he and his brother would be killed by Castellano for dealing drugs. As this fear continued to grow, and amidst growing dissent over the leadership of the crime family, Gotti organized the murder of Castellano.
At his peak, Gotti was one of the most powerful and dangerous crime bosses in the United States. During his era, he became widely known for his outspoken personality and flamboyant style, which gained him favor with some of the general public. While his peers generally avoided attracting attention, especially from the media, Gotti became known as "The Dapper Don", for his expensive clothes and personality in front of news cameras. He was later given the nickname "The Teflon Don" after three high-profile trials in the 1980s resulted in his acquittal, though it was later revealed that the trials had been tainted by jury tampering, juror misconduct and witness intimidation.
Gotti's underboss, Salvatore "Sammy the Bull" Gravano, aided the FBI in convicting Gotti; in 1991, Gravano agreed to turn state's evidence and testify against Gotti after hearing the boss make disparaging remarks about him on a wiretap that implicated them both in several murders. In 1992, Gotti was convicted of five murders, conspiracy to commit murder, racketeering, obstruction of justice, tax evasion, illegal gambling, extortion, and loansharking. He received life in prison without parole and was transferred to United States Penitentiary, Marion. Gotti died of throat cancer on June 10, 2002

Today on Crime & Entertainment, we have Justin DeLoretto AKA "Mooch." Mooch has a fascinating journey from his days in the Punk Rock scene of Oregon, Ca, which ultimately led him to the world of Outlaw Motorcycle clubs. Mooch's first major club association was with Vagos. While they were not as popular as some of the other clubs that are known worldwide, they definitely did not lack the qualities that optimized the Outlaw culture. After the Vagos, Mooch joined the Mongols Motorcycle Club. At the time that Mooch joined the Mongols, the club was run by Ruben Doc Cavazos. Doc was eventually arrested and the club went through a lot of changes, including the Mongols patch being seized by the federal government. Mooch stayed in the club and eventually rose to the rank of Regional Rep. After stepping back and re-examining the landscape of his situation, Mooch decided to walk away from the Mongols. He eventually went on to earn a degree as well as his Masters which led him to the career path of becoming a social worker. This career change offered him the opportunity to help guide young people down the right path and put their lives on a positive track.
Today you can find him on his YouTube Channel Monday's with Mooch which you can find the link for below. He also has a autobiography coming out soon so be sure to follow his Instagram Below to to get notified when that drops.
Mooch still can be found on two wheels as he kept the core values of the club life and he instilled that into his own club LTR (Live Train Ride.)

Today, on Crime & Entertainment, we have Colby Kopp. Colby masterminded a very lucrative drug operation that, at its peak, was making 30 to 40 thousand dollars a day. From April 2020 through February 2021, Colby used darknet marketplaces to conduct an extremely lucrative drug trafficking business. Kopp created, maintained, and controlled darknet marketplace accounts to further the Connecticut-based fentanyl distribution operation. As a darknet marketplace vendor, Kopp and other members of the conspiracy used the moniker “MadHatterPharma” to engage in the sale of cocaine as well as counterfeit pressed pills containing fentanyl that the conspirators pressed themselves and then shipped to customers all over the country. Colby was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison and has less than a month until he surrenders to serve his prison sentence. This is one of his last interviews before going to federal prison. So, strap in for this wild ride of a Dark Web Drug Kingpin.

Today on Crime & Entertainment, we present another installment of "Behind the Gangster." On this show, we will deep dive into a particular gangster's life that has been portrayed on-screen. As audience members, we often wonder about the validity of story lines within organized crime movies. Well, "Behind the Gangster" will allow you to get the answers. Today, alongside Anthony Ruggiano Jr. we will give a perspective of what Big Paul Castellano was link in real life as opposed to how we was portrayed on screen.
Paul Castellano was born on June 26th, 1915, and passed away on December 16th , 1985. The brutal Gangland slaying happened right in front of Saprks Steakhouse where Big Paul was headed for a meeting. Multiple gunmen in trench coats swarmed the car killing Castellano & his driver Tommy Bilotti almost instantly. Before this brazen assignation Castellano had recently taken reigns of the Gambino Crime family after it's long time Boss Carlo Gambino passed away. Many expected then Underboss Neil Dellacroce to take over the family at that time. However, when Gambino gave the position to Castellano it sparked immediately turmoil amongst the family. This was especially bad for blue collar street guy John Gotti. Gotti was the opposite of everything Paul liked about LA Cosa Nostra and towards the end Paul had plans to take Gotti out after confirming that Gotti & his crew were in fact dealing heroin. Gotti beat him to the punch and then he went on to be boss of the Gambino Family. While Paul's reign as boss was short lived, I cant help but wonder had he not been taken out, with Paul's keen since for business, where would the American mafia be at today.

Today, we sit down with former Gambino family associate, Anthony Ruggiano Jr. Anthony grew up alongside many members of organized crime because his father, "Fat Andy", was a highly respected member of the Gambino's. One of the guys he grew up knowing was Lucchese mobster, Jimmy "the Gent" Burke, whom we will be covering in today's episode.
Jimmy Burke was born on July 5, 1931, and passed away April 13, 1996, while serving a 20-year sentence. At the age of two, Burke was placed in a foster home and was exposed to violence and sexual abuse while in the care of dozens of foster parents. After taking a pinch early in his criminal career and keeping his mouth shut, Jimmy shot up the rankings quickly. Burke was of Irish descent, which made him ineligible to become a "made man" in the American mafia, so he was relegated to an associate, under capo Paul Vario. During the 1950s, one of Burke's biggest accomplishments is when he was deemed as the alleged mastermind behind the Lufthansa heist. Along with this heist, he was also involved with the alleged point shaving scandal involving the NCAA Boston College Eagles basketball team. These crimes along with many others makes Burke a perfect fit for "today's episode of "Behind the Gangster."

Today on Crime & Entertainment we have Stephen Miller. Stephen after getting out of the navy where he had trained on counter surveillance, wound up in a unlikely career. He became involved in one of the biggest marijuana smuggling operations in the United States called The Company. In just two years, The Company acquired 33 airplanes, three airports, warehouses in seven states and profits of $48 million. Headed by Richard Thorpe & Michael Degrassi as well as James Duggan The organization hired seasoned commercial pilots who flew 10-ton loads of Colombian marijuana on DC-6s to company airstrips in Missouri, Georgia and South Carolina. Efficient ground crews unloaded 20,000 pounds of marijuana in 20 minutes and the company's 18-wheel trucks delivered it to secluded warehouses. This was made possible by great counter surveillance that was ahead of its time by Stephen Miller. So strap in and hear this first hand account of one of the most sophisticated drug smuggling operations ever, here on Crime & Entertainment.

Today, on Crime & Entertainment, we discuss a clear miscarriage of justice as we dive into the story of Andre Brown. Andre grew up in the Bronx area of NY. In 1999, he was a 22-year-old college student in the borough of Manhattan Community College. During this time, a heated turf war over drugs was running rampant in the city. After the shooting of O'Neill Virgo and Shawn Nicholson by a masked gunman, Andre was sought for questioning, when a woman at a stop light near the crime scene picked Andre out of a line-up. Andre willingly went in for questioning about this attempted murder in the Bronx. He proclaimed his innocence, but none the less, was convicted of the crime and sentenced to 40 years to life in prison. After years of prayer, perseverance, and hard work by Andre and his wife Tamika, they finally found a glimmer of hope despite the years of denial from attorneys. This glimmer of hope was Oscar Michelen, who was then also joined by Jeffrey Deskovic & Sabine Jansen. Together, this legal team put together enough facts for the judge to overturn the conviction due to ineffective council in Andre's original case. While this nightmare is not over for Andre because the Bronx District Attorney's office plans to appeal the case, Andre and his legal team fully believes he will soon be exonerated and free to live a life of freedom. This case is a must-listen about how being wrongly identified can alter the course of one's life forever.

On April 10, 1912, the Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage to travel from Southampton, England, to New York City. The vessel was dubbed the "Unsinkable Ship." However, after striking an iceberg, the ship did just that and sank in the early morning of April 15th, 1912. Over 2,208 passengers were in for a terrifying experience. Among the passengers were the American millionaire, John Jacob Astor IV and his wife, Madeleine Force Astor. Other passengers included industrialist, Benjamin Guggenheim, painter and sculptor, Francis Davis Miller, Macy's store owner, Isidor Straus, and his wife, Ida. In total, only 712 individuals survived the sinking of the Titanic & 1,496 perished in what would be known as one of the worst maritime disasters to this day. The sinking of the Titanic has spawned countless books as well as numerous movies throughout the years. This tragedy has generated its share of controversy as questions over the events of that night have perplexed many over the years. Today, we examine many of those questions as we talk with Titanic expert, Bill Willard. This episode presents us with a lot of very interesting information, and I hope you guys enjoy it, here on Crime & Entertainment

Today on Crime & Entertainment, we share the crazy tale of Andrew Thorton & The Cocaine Bear. Thorton grew up in the Kentucky area and after serving briefly in law enforcement, he quickly made the transition into an outlaw. Thorton, along with Bradley Bryant & others, eventually formed a crime syndicate called "The Company." They would smuggle everything from weapons to drugs from South America to the United States. Eventually when the heat came down and over 25 people were arrested, utter chaos ensued. A murder rampage began that included a federal judge and a Florida State Attorney with many others falling victim. Eventually, Thornton would meet his demise during a drug running operation where he would jump from his airplane with multiple weapons, a bullet proof vest, and a duffle bag with 75lb of cocaine strapped to him. This weight however was too heavy, which resulted in his parachute not opening and he subsequently plummeted to his death. However, before he jumped, he threw out multiple bags of cocaine that landed in the Chattahoochee area. Unbelievably, this cocaine was discovered and consumed by a black bear. This is a story you do not want to miss folks.... I guarantee it.

Today on Crime & Entertainment we sit down with returning guest, retired ATF Special Agent Ignacio Esteban. There was not a better guest to discuss this matter of the most controversial prisoner exchanges ever.
President Biden exchanged Viktor Bout, AKA "The Merchant of Death", a notorious arms dealer, who was 10 years into a 25-year prison sentence in the United States as a Russian asset for providing heavy weapons to terrorists and for conspiring to kill Americans for WNBA basketball player, Brittney Griner. Griner, who was only 10 months into a 9-year prison sentence in a Russian prison. Griner was convicted of smuggling hash oil into Russia. This is a topic that will be heavily debated for years to come. Was Brittney a pawn in President Biden's bid for reelection? What do you think. Have a listen. Leave a Comment of IG, FB or YouTube
Today on Crime & Entertainment we have the daughter of one of the most powerful mob bosses to ever live. Rita Gigante grew up in a world swirling with secrets, lies, and multiple sins. Her father, notorious Mafia boss Vincent “the Chin” Gigante, was the leader of the Genovese crime clan and the head of all five New York crime families for decades. However, until she was 16, she was kept in the dark about his underworld activities. She unknowingly hung out at mob headquarters and witnessed her dad’s whispered meetings around the dinner table, but only knew what she was told by her mother and siblings about his odd behavior: Dad’s sick. Keep your mouth shut. Don’t talk about the family. Living with the family secret—and other shocking betrayals she was to uncover, then instructed to conceal—plunged Rita into emotional and physical turmoil for years. And then there was the blockbuster secret she herself kept hidden away: As the youngest girl in an old-fashioned, devout Catholic family, how could she confess to the unforgiving Godfather that she was a lesbian? They were all going to hell, she figured . . . unless she could find a way to embrace the truth and find redemption. In The Godfather’s Daughter, Rita details her spiritual journey as she unravels the mysteries of her family and herself and learns what it means to live in the truth she finds. It’s a real-life father-daughter tale of betrayal and faith, violence and love—and how a young woman escaped from a spiraling darkness to reach the light. And in the end, with his daughter’s healing help, even the Godfather finally learns to live in the light and atone for his sins. So, strap in for another wild episode here on Crime & Entertainment.

Today on Crime & Entertainment we have a crazy tale of cold-blooded murder of Danny Seifert committed by the Chicago Outfit. On September 27, 1974, Chicago businessman Daniel Seifert was brutally gunned down in front of his four-year-old son Joey and young wife, Emma Seifert. Gunmen were Tony "The Ant" Spilotro & Frank 'The German" Schweihs. Some would call him a victim, but others would say he had it coming. At the time, Seifert was a former partner with some of the top people in the Chicago Mob. He has been directly linked to top Mob bosses such as Joe Lombardo Sam Giancana, bail-bondsman / Mob financier Irwin Weiner, and Tony Spilotro. Danny, himself was a street-smart and ambitious young man, he followed in his father’s example in his efforts to provide a good, comfortable life for his wife and children. Soon, however, his path leads him toward the dark heart of the Mob. His career choices eventually bring him to a point where he must choose between loyalty to the Mob and probable prison time, or coming clean to the FBI, testifying against Mob leaders and risking retaliation to himself and his family. He chooses the latter, which ultimately leads to his murder and decades of living in fear for his widow, Emma, and their children. His son Joey who was just 4 years old at the time sits down with Crime ^ Entertainment to recount the tragic events of that day and detail the facts that he came to find out years later about his father's murder. So, strap in for this crazy show here on Crime & Entertainment.

Today on Crime & Entertainment, we present our first installment of Behind the Gangster. On this show, we will deep dive into a particular gangster's life that has been portrayed on screen. As audience members, we often wonder about the validity of story lines within organized crime movies. Well, Behind the Gangster will allow you to get the answers. Today, we sit down with former Gambino family associate, Anthony Ruggiano Jr. Anthony grew up alongside many members of organized crime because his father, "Fat Andy", was a highly respected member of the Gambino's. One of the guys he grew up with was Lucchese mobster, Thomas DeSimone, whom we will be covering in today's episode. Thomas DeSimone was born May 24, 1950, and disappeared on January 14, 1979. He was an American criminal associated with New York City's Lucchese crime family who is alleged to have participated in both the Air France robbery and the Lufthansa heist. He also committed numerous murders, including killing William Bentvena in 1970. DeSimone went missing in 1979 and is believed to have been murdered. DeSimone's career in the Lucchese family is explored in the book, Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi, and inspired by the character of Tommy DeVito, portrayed by Joe Pesci in the 1990 film Goodfellas. So, strap in and listen as we go Behind the Gangster.

Today on Crime & Entertainment we have Author, Robert H. Edwards. Robert has written a book called, D. B. Cooper and Flight 305: Reexamining the Hijacking and Disappearance. This case has enamored many of Americans for now 51 years to the day. The "D. B. Cooper" case is the only unsolved act of air piracy in US history. On November 24, 1971, a polite, nondescript, and dark-complexioned man calling himself "Dan Cooper" hijacked Northwest Airlines Flight 305, Boeing 727, between Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington. At Seattle International Airport, he demanded and received $200,000 and four parachutes, released the passengers, and ordered the crew to take him to Mexico. Somewhere along the way, he jumped. He was never found or identified. Forty-five years later, the FBI gave up the hunt. This book looks at the case from the perspective of a mathematician and pilot. It uses previously unexamined data and original-source documents, combined with the tools of statistics, aeronautics, and meteorology, to show where and how the FBI could resume the search and possibly find out at last who "D. B. Cooper" really was.

Today on Crime & Entertainment, we have former Genovese member, Anthony Arillotta. Anthony was the leader of the Springfield, Massachusetts crew of New York’s Genovese crime family. He was schooled in the life of crime by guys like Frank “Skyball” Scibelli and Adolfo “Big Al” Bruno whom he would later be charged for murdering. Throughout his life of crime, he rose to the top very fast and through gambling, narcotics, and other rackets he brought in millions of dollars. However, as does most stories like Anthony's, things came to an abrupt end. When he was arrested in 2010, he admitted to his role in the murder of former Springfield boss, Adolfo Bruno, and mob associate, Gary Westerman. He took the stand and exposed the Bruno murder plot along with various other mob-related crimes incriminating members of his old crew and former Genovese family acting boss Arthur “Artie” Nigro. Arillotta finished up his eight-year prison sentence and decided that he didn’t need federal protection, so he opted out of the witness protection program. He now resides right back where he grew up and he is very much in the public eye. He also recently started his own YouTube Channel which you can find in the link below.

Today on Crime & Entertainment we take you on a unbelievable ride of murder, wrongful conviction & incarceration. Imagine walking in your home to find your wife lying dead, stabbed to death on the floor. The sight of that alone is enough to send someone over the edge but imagined being accused of doing such a heinous act. Thats exactly what happened to our guest today, Russ Faria. On December 27th, 2011, Russell Faria returned to his Troy, Missouri, home after his weekly game night with friends to an unthinkable, grisly scene: His wife, Betsy, lay dead, a knife still lodged in her neck. She’d been stabbed fifty-five times.
First responders concluded that Betsy was dead for hours when Russ discovered her. No blood was found implicating Russ, and surveillance video, receipts, and friends’ testimony all supported his alibi. Yet incredibly, police and the prosecuting attorney ignored the evidence. In their minds, Russ was guilty. But prominent defense attorney Joel J. Schwartz quickly recognized the real killer.
The motive was clear. Days before her murder, the terminally ill Betsy replaced her husband with her friend, Pamela Hupp, as her life insurance beneficiary. Still, despite the prosecution’s flimsy case and Hupp’s transparent lies, Russ was convicted—leaving Hupp free to kill again. This is the story of what can happen when police, prosecutor, judge, and jury all fail in their duty to protect the innocent—and let a killer get away with murder.

Folks today on Crime & Entertainment we have one of the most prolific mortgage fraudsters ever. Matthew Bevan "Matt" Cox (born July 2, 1969) is an American former mortgage broker and admitted mortgage fraudster. Cox, also a true crime author, wrote an unpublished manuscript entitled The Associates in which the main character traveled the country to perpetrate a mortgage fraud scheme similar to the one Cox ran. Cox among other schemes would falsify documents to make it appear that he owned properties, and then fraudulently obtained several mortgages on them for five to six times their actual worth. He acquired millions of dollars this way; estimates report the amount at between 5 and $25 million. Cox was eventually apprehended on November 16, 2006. Indicted on 42 counts, and facing prison sentences of up to 125 years, he would plea bargained his sentence down to a maximum of 54 years on April 11, 2007, and was sentenced to 26 years on November 17, 2006. He was released from prison in July 2019. Since out he has started not one but two successful podcast which you can find in the links below. He also sells some great artwork if you would like to hit him up for that. So, strap in and enjoy this wild ride on Crime & Entertainment

Sinn Sage has brought to the erotic film industry a balanced blend of sexual maturity and beauty. With a California-based beginning, Sage was born on October 4, 1983. At an early age, she had already began realizing who she was and what she wanted to do with her life. She identifies herself as an exhibitionist and a fetishist, saying she said often fantasized about "being dominated" or receiving "spankings" long before she discovered her sexuality. she regarded to be a "cookie-cutter" lifestyle in which many of her friends and classmates followed. Soon after graduating Sinn did not pursue college after her high school , instead at 19 years old, she began work in erotic dancing in a club in San Berardino, California. This was a path she had long planned ahead to do as she told her friends in earlier years that she wanted to be a porn star and a stripper. Eventually, she pursued the second half of her dream and attended her first AVN convention in Las Vegas. After visiting several of the fetish-orientated booths, Sage returned home and thus received job offers almost faster than she could keep up with. Her work, during the course of her career has involved fetish-based themes and primarily works with female co-stars. Considerably happy with her life and her work, Sage has successfully launched her own website which showcases her work and offers membership for her fans. Marc Sheffler used to work as a stage actor for off-Broadway theater. His break into movies was when he was cast as teenage Junior Stillo in the low-budget Last House on the Left (1972). With that casting in the American exploitation horror film written, directed and edited by Wes Craven in his directorial debut. The film follows Mari Collingwood (Sandra Peabody), a hippie teenager who is abducted, raped, and tortured by a fugitive family on her seventeenth birthday. When they unwittingly seek refuge in her home, the killers face the vengeance of her parents. It is definitely not for the weak and the tag line for it was that audiences had to keep repeating. " It's only a movie, It's only a movie,"
After Last House, Sheffler decided to pursue a career into television writing and production rather than acting. His credits include episodes of "Sister, Sister", "Harry and the Hendersons", "Who's the Boss", and "Charles in Charge" to name but a few. He's also been involved with all kinds of pilots, made for TV movies, and television specials, including the failed "The Little Shop of Horrors" pilot, "The Happy Days Reunion Show" and "The Best of the Hollywood Palace" specials. He also worked with Mel Blanc, the voice of Warner Bros. cartoons, as the writer of How Bugs Bunny Won The West (1978). So, if you are an old school horror fan sit back and enjoy this trip down memory lane with Marc Sheffler.

Joseph Gagliano is an entrepreneur, former investment advisor, and author of the book, “No Grey Areas”. At age of 24, he organized and financed the multi-million-dollar Arizona State basketball point shaving scandal in 1993–94, which led to several prison sentences. Those incarcerated included the ASU rising star Stevin "Hedake" Smith, Isaac Burton, Benny Silman, Joe Gagliano and several other Chicago bookmakers. It remains one of the largest known scandals in sports history until this day. Former ASU coach Bill Frieder, who resigned Sept. 10th after eight seasons -- in part because of the growing scandal -- said he never suspected players were shaving points. This story is absolutely polarizing and should be a cautionary tale even to this day to the aspect of how small bets on Sega video game can compound to being involved in one of the biggest sports scandals in history.

Today on Crime & Entertainment, we have a crazy story that includes serial killers and Ghislaine Maxwell. When William Steel's path transitioned from being a career locksmith into a cocaine-abusing jewel thief, his life quickly went off the rails. However, this was just the beginning of a roller coaster ride from hell. It would ultimately end in William being incarcerated for 18 years. After serving nearly two decades in prison, author William Steel, is now being dubbed the "True Crime King." He is now a successful author on the rise due, in large measure, to his engaging, straightforward prose, and his colorful life experiences. These experiences include William colliding with many high-profile, notorious, and diabolical criminals which makes his story even more enthralling.
In his first gripping true crime memoir, "Sex and the Serial Killer, My Bizarre Times with Robert Durst," William Steel reveals the depths of the scion's depravity, and he demands justice for Durst's victims and their shattered families. In Steel’s latest series of true crime novels, GHISLAINE SENSATIONAL AND IMPURE, hidden truths are brought to light. The first of two books in the series quickly gets down to the raw, compelling account from William's personal insider experiences. More importantly, the reader will gain foundational knowledge helpful for understanding and empathizing with the immeasurable, ongoing suffering and anguish that remains with the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Readers will also learn the painful details of how William Steel also suffered at the hands of Ms. Maxwell. This is definitely a true account that will leave you stunned. Giovanni Rocco successfully worked his way into the DeCavalcante hierarchy, collecting enough evidence to deliver a massive blow to the Mafia organization. Rocco describes dramatic moments & provides insights into the dangerous world he inhabited, which keeps him in hiding to this very day. He eventually wrote a book to detail this wild ride that not many men would dare take, you can find a link to his book below in the show notes. Oscar Goodman was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. After completing high school, Goodman went on to receive his J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. This eventually prompted a move to the Land of Milk & Honey - Las Vegas, Nevada. During his career as a defense attorney, he represented some of the top members accused of leading organized crime such as: Meyer Lansky, Nicky Scarfo, Herbert "Fat Herbie" Blitzstein, Phil Leonetti, former Stardust Casino boss Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, and Jamiel "Jimmy" Chagra, a 1970s drug trafficker who was acquitted of ordering the murder of Federal Judge John H. Wood, Jr. One of his notorious clients was reputed Chicago mobster Anthony "Tony the Ant" Spilotro, who was known to have a short and violent temper. In the semi-factual 1995 movie Casino, the character of Nicky Santoro was based on Spilotro, and was portrayed by actor Joe Pesci. Goodman had a cameo appearance in the film as himself, where he was depicted defending “Ace Rothstein,” a character closely based on Lefty Rosenthal, and played by Robert De Niro. Eventually on June 8, 1999, Goodman was elected mayor of Las Vegas after he received 63.76% of the votes, while his opponent, then-Las Vegas City Councilman Arnie Adamsen, received 36.24% of the votes. In 2003, Goodman was re-elected for a second term, and defeated five opponents after he received 85.72% of the votes. On April 3, 2007, he was re-elected to a third and final term, with 83.69% of the votes when he once again defeated five opponents. Despite having been called Las Vegas’ “most popular mayor,” the city has term limit laws that restrict mayors to a maximum of three terms. In 2011, Carolyn Goodman, wife of Oscar, was elected to succeed her husband as mayor after she earned 60% of the votes. Please listen in as we take you on a journey from Mob Lawyer to Las Vegas mayor here on Crime & Entertainment.

Unfortunately, this was the last mission for her husband, because he and 3 others lost their lives as tragedy struck. Green Beret Staff Sgt. Bryan Black was killed in action during an ISIS terrorist ambush in Niger in 2017. Following this awful event, Michelle vowed to herself and her two young sons to do whatever it took to find out the truth of what really happened on that horrible day. After interviewing the survivors of a deadly ambush, it became clear to Michelle that the deaths of her husband and several soldiers were avoidable – major mistakes were made. This Gold Star widow went on a quest to learn the truth about her husband’s death, but military officials refused to provide details. As a result, Michelle wrote a book titled, "Sacrifice: A Gold Star Widow’s Fight for the Truth" in an effort to bring attention to the inconsistent lies of the military and the challenge of learning the awful truth. Losing our brave American soldiers is a devastating, costly consequence of war. However, when those deaths are clouded in controversy and mistruths, it makes the tragedy even more difficult to comprehend.
