Can a Christmas movie truly capture the spirit of the season without a hint of originality? That's the question we're asking as we unravel our mixed emotions about "Red One," the festive film that left us scratching our heads. We pit it against holiday heavyweights like "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" and "Die Hard," diving into the nostalgia that shapes our love for Christmas classics. As we sift through the film's recycled Marvel-esque ideas, we ponder how it fares as a holiday flick versus a superhero adventure, and question if familiar tropes overshadow its potential to spark genuine festive cheer.
Picture this: Chris Evans as a magically gifted character named Jack, caught in a whirlwind of candy theft and snowy antics. We explore the movie's over-the-top symbolism and humor, wondering if it's meant for kids or a more mature audience. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's portrayal as a Santa-like bodyguard further adds to our critique, as we muse over his acting choices and the missed comedic gems from John Rudnitsky and Lucy Liu. Our journey through this whimsical film takes a detour into absurdity with Eddie Murphy's mythical Christmas creatures, unleashing a cascade of nonsensical plot twists and magical mayhem.
Ever wondered what happens when Santa's sleigh gets a high-tech makeover? Join us as we dissect the film's curious take on Santa's world, complete with towering reindeer and a North Pole that feels more like a bustling metropolis than a winter wonderland. From Santa-Satan mix-ups to Krampus snow globe antics, we question the logic of these festive narratives while reminiscing about quirky holiday folklore. Amidst the chaos, we find joy in the simpler delights these films offer young viewers, all while gearing up for our next episode's cinematic escapades. Happy holidays, and don't forget to bring your snow globe!

Ever wondered what happens when the Joker tries to sing a courtroom ballad? We tackle this and more as we dissect "Joker: Folie à Deux," grappling with the movie's audacious blend of courtroom drama and musical elements. While our feelings are mixed about the film's narrative execution, we find ourselves pondering Lady Gaga's standout performance as Harley, whose presence demands attention despite limited character development. Our discussion opens up new narrative possibilities, imagining a plot where Harley's influence on Arthur could change the game entirely.
The character dynamics are a hot topic, especially when it comes to Arthur's transformation, or lack thereof, into the Joker. We express our frustration with the film's failure to comment meaningfully on societal issues, leaving us yearning for deeper storytelling. But it's not all critique; we laugh about the quirky portrayal of awkward prison love scenes and consider how a reversed Harley-Joker dynamic could make for a much more intriguing storyline. As we explore these themes, we find ourselves questioning the film's missed opportunities and the potential richness of these iconic characters.
In lighter news, we chat about the upcoming Hallmark reality series and muse on the rapid production of feel-good films like "Happy Howlidays." Creative endeavors aren't limited to the screen, as we share excitement over Alex Melton's musical YouTube series and nostalgic reflections on performances in "Black Doves." As we wrap things up, we leave you with a playful thought about eternal friendship, promising more laughter and camaraderie in the episodes to come. Don't miss out on this blend of humor, critique, and cinematic analysis that'll have you both entertained and thoughtful.

What do a Christmas werewolf film and a PG-13 family comedy have in common? They both challenge our perception of traditional holiday movies and leave us with a head-scratching blend of humor and horror. In this episode, we unpack the strange timing of a werewolf film's December release and imagine the hilarity of a festive lycanthrope tale. We then confront the perplexing narrative of the Farrelly brothers' "Dear Santa," where Jack Black's devilish charm collides with a dyslexic boy's Satan-summoning error. The film's bizarre plot twists—ranging from arm wrestling with Beelzebub to the peculiar Swedish Fish product placements—leave us questioning the filmmakers' comedic intent and their audience's amusement.
Our conversation takes a turn as we critique the film's mishandling of profound themes like grief. Parents' emotional arcs are abruptly dismissed, and the soundtrack, which usually shines in Jack Black's projects, disappoints with its lack of coherence. We chuckle and groan over an ill-conceived subplot about a missing angel tree topper and the unrealistic portrayal of lying without consequence. The cross-eyed narrative even dares to include Post Malone playing beer pong with a kid—a misguided attempt at humor that skews the film's demographic even further.
Amongst this chaos, Keegan-Michael Key stands out, proving that a handful of nuts and his improvisational prowess can inject life into even the flattest scenes. We discuss how humor can sometimes be uncomfortable and how it can resonate emotionally, albeit awkwardly, with the audience. As we wrap up, we express our appreciation for Jack Black's commitment, despite this misadventure, and tease future explorations of more promising cinematic ventures like "Alien: Romulus" and the quirky Coen Brothers’ "The Hudsucker Proxy." Join us for this wild ride as we dissect the bizarre blend of holiday cheer, comedy, and questionable narrative choices.

Remember the time when Madonna was more than just a pop icon and Sean Penn was her real-life partner in crime? Join us on a rollicking journey back to the 80s as we unpack the notorious film "Shanghai Surprise," a movie that leaves us surprised for all the wrong reasons. From explosive opium smuggling scenes to bizarre mothball twists, this movie promises an unexpected ride. We chuckle through the pitfalls of this peculiar narrative and share our bewilderment at how George Harrison's music ended up amidst this chaotic plot. Unravel the layers of this mess with us, as we attempt to make sense of the chaotic storylines and oddball characters like Willie and Crunk.
Our playful banter continues as we tackle Sean Penn and Madonna’s on-screen chemistry—or lack thereof—while wandering through the film’s peculiar romantic entanglements. Was it a screwball comedy or a noir mixed with misplaced sound effects and stereotypes? You'll hear us scratching our heads at Madonna’s wardrobe changes and a scene with ceramic hands that will have you asking, "Who thought this was a good idea?" As if that wasn’t puzzling enough, we also hop on a nostalgic train to the days of Black Friday frenzy, juxtaposing the film's unpredictable antics with our own holiday shopping memories.
And just when you think the madness ends, we toy with the quirks of memory and how it plays into gaslighting in relationships. Our tales of forgetfulness blend humor with reality, inviting listeners to connect with our shared experiences. As we wrap up with thoughts on the upcoming Minecraft movie starring the ever-entertaining Jack Black, we promise a blend of chaos, laughter, and 80s nostalgia that will leave you both entertained and perplexed. Let’s just say, this episode is a wild ride from start to finish, much like the movie itself.

What do you get when you mix a Scottish honeymoon burglary, a Nintendo DS heist, and Chris Pine's directorial ambitions? A rollercoaster episode of "Hey Watch It with Dan and Tony!" We kick off with Dan's personal tale of a honeymoon gone awry in the scenic lands of Scotland, leading us into a chat about Chris Pine's debut, "Poolman." Critics may have thrown shade, but we stir the pot by suggesting it might just outshine the Coen Brothers' classics, even the sacred cow, "The Big Lebowski" (which we might call overrated).
From Pine to Coen, our discussion zigzags through the beloved filmography of Fargo's creators. Tony can't help but throw some shade on "Fargo" itself—blame those Minnesotan roots! We exchange blows over our favorites, from the hilarity of "Burn After Reading" to the misfires like "Hail Caesar." Amidst this cinematic battlefield, "Poolman" emerges as a breath of fresh air, free from cynicism, much like the joyous "Fired Up." We can't help but celebrate those films that whisk us away from life's daily grind.
As we cruise through L.A.'s filmmaking maze, we scrutinize the narrative potholes in "Poolman," from perplexing plot twists to character motivations that take a wrong turn. But fear not, as we lighten the mood with quirky password anxieties and a nod to Melissa McCarthy's comedic ventures. It's a smorgasbord of film critique, personal tidbits, and future episode sneak peeks—all wrapped up in our usual banter. So grab your metaphorical popcorn and join us for another wild ride!

Ever tried a Kool-Aid pickle? We kick off this unexpectedly wild ride with some strange culinary adventures that will tickle your taste buds and your funny bone. Join us as we wade through the colorful waters of bizarre food trends, before diving into a lively debate: are movies still the reigning American art form, or have video games stolen the spotlight? Our personal tales of creating a quirky Mr. Toast app, marked by a year of creativity and financial hiccups, add a nostalgic touch to our chat about passion projects and their unpredictable journeys.
Shifting gears, we get caught up in the peculiar world of M. Night Shyamalan's latest brain-bender, "Trap." With Josh Hartnett in the spotlight, we unravel a film that mixes serial killers with concert chaos, leaving us scratching our heads at its odd twists and turns. From TV throwbacks with "Head of the Class" to dissecting the movie’s quirks—like Shyamalan’s daughter rocking the stage as Lady Raven—we critique its narrative puzzles and ponder if the lack of a typical twist is the twist itself. Our analysis keeps the conversation rolling, questioning everything from the killer's tactics to the eyebrow-raising role of social media.
As the episode winds down, we lighten the mood with some holiday cheer and a touch of nostalgia. Picture a sitcom set in a Christmas store or get hyped for "Finding Mr. Christmas"—a reality show that’s as heartwarming as a holiday movie. Sprinkled with a dash of laughter, our chatter about past cinematic gems like "Dungeons and Dragons" and a thrilling Kim Basinger classic keeps the spirit of entertainment alive. Whether it's pondering Josh Hartnett's character arc or teasing our upcoming episode on "Pool Boy," we promise more humor and intriguing discussions are on the horizon.

Ever wondered what might happen if an alderman accidentally finds himself in the race for the presidency? On this episode of "Hate Watching with Dan and Tony," we tackle that very scenario as Chris Rock hilariously navigates the political landscape in "Head of State." We kick things off with a bold statement: Bernie Mac steals the show, and we're not even mad about it. Our colorful commentary comes packed with laughs, as we dissect the film’s premise, debating its resemblance to Eddie Murphy's "Distinguished Gentleman" and celebrating the comedic genius of Mac despite his limited screen time.
We're not just here to praise Bernie Mac, though. The film's clunky moments and awkward casting choices, like Robin Givens as Rock's ex-girlfriend, give us plenty to chew on. We poke fun at the movie's love subplot and those bizarre rap interludes that try to bridge the narrative gaps but fall short. There's a playful back-and-forth comparing Chris Rock's comedic chops to Eddie Murphy's, and musings on how “Head of State” attempts to blend satire with slapstick, sometimes missing the mark. Yet, we can't deny the film's entertaining value, especially with memorable scenes like the electric slide and a demo CD joke that still tickles our funny bone.
And just when you think we’re done, we throw a curveball with broader themes of politics and humor. Think about a presidential candidate hopping on a bus without a care in the world. We share our own tales of glancing at Target Tuesdays and the nostalgic dynamics of familial loyalty. As we wrap things up, there's chatter about the show "Detroiters" and a teaser for M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming flick, "Trap." Join us for this rollicking ride through political comedy, where nothing is off the table, and everything is ripe for a laugh.

What if living in dorms until the age of 16 and undergoing surgery to become "pretty" was the societal norm? Join us as we humorously unravel the perplexing world of "Uglies," the movie adaptation of the beloved book series. With a dystopian society fueled by poppy flowers and devoid of parents, our critique pinpoints the peculiarities of this bizarre universe. We draw parallels with "The Hunger Games," questioning the execution of the film's plot and its inexplicable elements, all while laughing along the way.
As we navigate through the story, we challenge the logic behind the brain-altering processes aimed at compliance and attractiveness, scrutinizing Dr. Cable's seemingly unfathomable motivations. With witty banter, we expose the irony of the characters looking less appealing after their transformation and the absurdity of beauty-centric societal norms. Our exploration doesn't stop there, as we also delve into unrelated but entertaining topics like our recent obsession with Nintendo's Pokemon TCG Pocket and the comedic intrigue of Chris Rock's "Head of State."
Amidst our roller-coaster discussion, we share whimsical critiques of movie tropes, such as a blood pact between friends and a far-fetched thriller involving a paralyzed woman communicating by blinking. Whether it's imagining fantastical hoverboard adventures or poking fun at storyline absurdities, our episode promises a lively, thought-provoking ride. Packed with laughs and personal anecdotes, this episode offers a playful yet critical examination of the storytelling choices in "Uglies" and beyond.

What happens when a film's chaotic AI plot leaves us more bemused than entertained? Join us as we humorously dissect the Blumhouse movie "Afraid," pondering whether a title like "Slightly Cautious AI" might have been more fitting. With an AI that seems more interested in wreaking havoc than creating suspense, we muse about missed opportunities for a coherent narrative, all while relishing in the absurdity of the film's awkward character interactions and isolated subplots.
Ever wondered about the legal and ethical implications of AI in our daily lives? Our conversation veers into unexpected territories as we explore the growing role of AI, from content creation to a familial lawsuit over AI-assisted homework. The debate heats up with questions about the ownership of AI-generated content, touching on everything from music to personal writing skills. Personal anecdotes and a touch of humor guide us through the increasingly blurred lines between creativity, education, and technology.
In a world where privacy feels more like a myth than a reality, we discuss the chilling parallels between fiction and real life, touching on themes of surveillance and manipulation in both media and family dynamics. Amidst quirky family banter and workplace oddities, we question reality versus perception in a tech-influenced world. Wrapping up with reflections on romance novels, teenage drama, and the ever-entertaining world of scary movie reviews, we promise a fun ride filled with laughter, thought-provoking debate, and perhaps a bit of nostalgia for those awkward AI encounters.

Ever found yourself squinting at a screen, not because you need glasses, but because the movie is just that dimly lit? That's exactly where we found ourselves with the "Slender Man" movie, a film that left us fumbling with our remote to adjust the brightness just to see if there was anything worth watching. We've all heard of Slender Man, but how did a character with such a nonsensical origin become an internet horror icon? Join us as we navigate the murky waters of this film's lackluster attempt at horror, and ponder what actually makes a story spine-chilling.
Remember the first time you watched "Halloween" or "Friday the 13th"? We're diving back into those horror classics, and let's just say it was a revelation compared to our "Slender Man" struggle. Our conversation meanders through the highs and lows of horror cinema, from appreciating the tension-building genius of "Halloween" to chuckling over the quirky narrative of "Mikey." We also spare a thought for talented actresses like Joey King, musing over how even her skills couldn't save this sinking ship.
But the horror doesn't stop there. We've got ghost-hunting escapades planned, a hopeful future as YouTube stars, and a hilarious take on sneeze etiquette that you won't want to miss. Could a child really be a serial killer? In this spine-tingling episode, we grapple with that chilling question as we unravel the twisted tale of "Mikey," a 1992 thriller that sends shivers down our spines. We kick things off with a laugh over a webcam mishap and a laughable scheduling mix-up that mistakenly featured a non-horror movie during Halloween. Determined to keep the thrills alive, we extend our horror theme into November, dissecting Mikey's unsettling antics and comparing them with other notorious bad-seed flicks like "The Good Son."
Nostalgia takes center stage as we wander through our pasts, reminiscing about the '90s horror films that packed more fun than fright. Movies like "I Know What You Did Last Summer" offered campy thrills, but today's darker horrors, like "Talk to Me," leave us more disturbed than entertained. We share our love for films that master the blend of scares and laughs, praising hidden gems like "Barbarian" and "The Babysitter" that deliver both chills and chuckles. Along the way, we share childhood memories of Goosebumps books and the quirky reward systems that made school days a little more bizarre.
Our conversation takes a thrilling turn as we explore fears of water and heights, spurred by personal stories of near-drowning and daring rescues. We challenge the ethics of real versus artificial skeletons, delve into the absurdities of childhood games, and recount a suspenseful tale of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation gone awry. To wrap things up, we muse on Creepypasta's influence in horror films, celebrating the potential for fresh and unique storytelling in niche content. Mel Brooks' involvement and the film's many chaotic elements spark a lively discussion on what could have been if only the movie had a coherent vision.
Finally, we take on the film's confusing themes and unresolved questions. Why does Jason Patrick struggle to experience joy? What's the deal with Charles Durning's role as the warden? Remember that time we got into a heated debate about Capicola ham and couldn't stop laughing? Well, buckle up because Purple Dan and Tie Dye Tony are back with another riotous review, this time taking on "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" (2024). We kick off with some good-natured ribbing about our aging looks and quirky personalities, setting the stage for our take on a film that, quite frankly, left us colder than its title suggests. We dissect why this supposed "Frozen Empire" neither chills nor thrills, poking fun at its overcrowded ensemble of characters and bewildering plot choices. And no worries, the sheer number of subpar new releases ensures we won't be running out of material anytime soon!
Ever wondered why some sequels just can't recapture the magic of the originals? Well, you're in for a treat as we lament the lack of engaging characters and humor in the latest Ghostbusters flick. Kumail Nanjiani's character may offer a fleeting moment of fun, but the thin storyline and underutilized stars like Finn Wolfhard leave us yearning for the good old days of Bill Murray's quick wit. Speaking of Murray, even his comedic genius couldn't salvage a script that seems as lost as the ghosts it aims to bust. We also analyze a particularly baffling scene, comparing it to the second Ghostbusters film, and critiquing the new team's lack of distinct skills and roles.
The plot thickens—but not in a good way—as we unravel the film's convoluted twists and head-scratching character motivations. From Phoebe's inexplicable decisions to Garak's murky control over the team, we explore the myriad ways the narrative stumbles. Highlights include our take on the fire master showdown and the absurd ghostly horn retrieval, complete with plenty of Purple Dan and Tie Dye Tony's signature wit. The climactic team's effort, or lack thereof, sparks a discussion on the flawed logic and ineffective strategies that plague the film. Tune in for a comedic yet incisive critique of "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire," where we leave no proton pack unturned!

Have you ever watched a movie so perplexing that you just had to talk about it? That's exactly what happened with Jerry Seinfeld's "Unfrosted," and we're serving up a full breakdown with a side of sarcasm. Join us, Dan and Tony, as we dissect the film's underbaked humor and the curious case of historical mascots in shoddy costumes. It's a wild ride through comedic miscues and a script that needed more time in the oven, but we promise you'll come away with more than a half-toasted understanding of where this pastry-themed film went awry.
Ever wondered how a ravioli could survive in an aquarium or why a kid might pack a toaster during a runaway attempt? We tackle these surreal moments with a blend of amusement and critique. Our conversation snacks on the oddities of the narrative, the clunky integration of historical references, and a cereal award show that was more cringe than crunch. With guest appearances by Amy Schumer and Jim Gaffigan, we chew through performances and ponder the comedic potential of space race products that somehow didn't translate into out-of-this-world laughter.
To top off our episode, we sink our teeth into the satirical layers of "Unfrosted," measuring the sprinkle of humor against the dough of historical context. We debate whether Rice Krispie Treats demand a chocolate topping while reflecting on how a seemingly straightforward story of Pop-Tarts got so crumbly. From McCarthy's comedic flickers to Marsden's solid turn, we're unpacking it all—no toasting necessary. So, grab a snack and tune in for our frosted analysis; it's a conversation that's sure to pop.

We're not just here to poke fun at the excessive shaky cam or the monochromatic misery that plagues this film; we're dissecting the very core of what makes—or in this case, breaks—a Die Hard experience.
Strap in for an odyssey through Hollywood's questionable choices, as we traverse the evolution of John McClane from his literary origins to the big screen icon we've come to love (and sometimes sigh at). A carrot-wielding dancer turned violent thug? A courtroom hitman witness? We're unpacking these bizarre moments with the same gusto we reserve for a fresh bowl of popcorn. And don't worry, we're not letting the industry off the hook for the 2012-2015 blockbuster blues—we're calling out every facepalm-worthy moment along the way.

Ever wonder if a head-scratching film can actually be a prequel without telling you? This week, Dan and Tony tackle the circuitous storytelling of "In a Dark Place"—yes, that adaptation of "A Turn of the Screw"—and wrestle with a climax that's more bewildering than a plot twist in a labyrinth. We're peering through the lens of both laughter and critique, dissecting the odd dynamics between characters, the seemingly gratuitous scenes, and the perplexing sexual undertones that leave us as befuddled as a pair of detectives at a ghost convention.
Hold onto your popcorn, because our cinematic safari doesn't stop there. We're diving into the murky waters of "The Turning," where the sudden pivot to religious symbolism in the film's final moments leaves us gasping for air—metaphorically speaking. From improvised dialogue that feels like a game of narrative Mad Libs, to character decisions that defy logic, we keep the banter buoyant as we navigate the stormy seas of this adaptation's attempt at provocative storytelling. And if you think ghostly encounters with dolls and masked figures are where the weirdness ends, think again.

Prepare to be astonished as we, your intrepid hosts Dan and Tony, tear into "Madame Web" a superhero fiasco that plummeted from high expectations into the depths of cinematic despair. We're not holding back—even Dakota Johnson's furrowed brow couldn't mask the confusion of her character's rage or save the tangled mess of a plot that left us more bewildered than a spider after a dust buster encounter. Strap in for a rollicking review where we dissect questionable fight choreography, mystifying CPR techniques, and a soundtrack that'll have you checking your calendar to make sure we're still in the 21st century.
This episode isn't all doom and gloom; we've got our fair share of head-scratching laughs as we navigate peculiar plot twists that would leave even M. Night Shyamalan flummoxed. From venomous villainy to the enigmatic Spider People and their arboreal antics, we take shots at the ludicrous twists that had us questioning our own reality. But wait until you hear our take on the game-changing Spider-Man costume caper—our critique of this and the curious case of an indestructible ambulance will have you wondering if you're listening to a podcast or a stand-up routine.
And because we're not just about tearing down dreams, join us as we marvel at the CGI wizardry of "Top Gun: Maverick" and ponder the authenticity of Christopher Nolan's effects. The film industry is our playground, and we swing from the heights of aerial stunts to the gritty alleyways we expect in the upcoming "Madame Web" movie. Get set for a rollercoaster of laughs and head-scratching moments as we pull apart the 2011 movie "Green Hornet." It's Dan and Tony here, ready to serve up a steaming helping of movie critique with a side of snark. We'll navigate through Seth Rogen's unexpected superhero antics and the film's peculiar choices, overlaying our insights with the stark realities of celebrity net worth versus our own. We're not just watching the movie; we're peeling back the layers of its narrative choices and examining the odd dynamic between the wealthy playboy, Britt Reid, and his sidekick, Kato.
Fasten your seatbelts because we're tearing through the bewildering superpowers, comedic mishaps, and everything in between. We scrutinize character relationships, the film's attempt at humor that misses the mark, and question the development of said characters. But that's not all! We draw comparisons to classic films and even share a laugh about the potential aspirations of a "paycheck movie." And, of course, what's a heroic tale without examining the villainous Christoph Waltz and the tone he sets right from his opening scene?
To top it off, we're not just sticking to "Green Hornet." Our cinematic conversation stretches across the spectrum of screen treasures, from comforting flicks to the hottest series that have us buzzing. We even look ahead, speculating on future classics and giving you a taste of what's in store with "Venom: The Last Dance." Trust us, whether you're here for the film dissections or just cruising for a good time, you'll find plenty to enjoy in this action-packed episode. Strap in, folks, because we're peeling out on a cinematic odyssey that may just shift your perspective on those so-called "flops" rattling around Tinseltown. Remember "Monster Trucks"? That's where we're kicking things off, but brace yourself—it's not the takedown you'd expect. We're mounting a spirited defense of this underdog, digging into what it really takes to charm the ankle-biters of the world with Hollywood magic. And while we're talking about charm, let's not forget the behemoth of childhood nostalgia—"Free Willy." We'll unpack the art of the beloved and the berated, all while chuckling at the absurdity of a 26-year-old high school student.
As we cruise through this episode, we'll navigate the nooks and crannies of character development—or the lack thereof—in our latest movie watch. Characters like Barry Pepper's sheriff and our MacGyver-esque hero Trip might have you questioning their choices, but hey, that's part of the fun, right? And speaking of fun, what's a monster truck showdown without a good old-fashioned critique of physics-defying stunts, monster intelligence, and a hearty dose of destruction without consequences? Buckle up, because we're in for some laughs, head-scratching moments, and maybe a couple of "a-ha" revelations along the way.
Finally, we're revving up the conversation to include a taste of sinister surveillance, monster hunts, and the occasional philosophical musing. Plus, we'll toss some love to director Chris Wedge and his journey from "Monster Trucks" to "Ice Age," proving that in Hollywood, the road less traveled might just be the most rewarding. So, grab your headphones, and let's burn rubber through an episode that's as much a blast from the past as it is a pedal-to-the-metal thrill ride.

Could "The Legend of Tarzan" possibly swing any further from the tree of its classic source material? That's the vine Dan and Tony are shaking this week as we unpack the jungle of issues plaguing this cinematic misadventure. Join us for a romp through the tangled underbrush of this film's narrative missteps, from Tarzan's questionable life in England to those CGI critters that couldn't fool a two-year-old. Get ready for a ride that's part critique, part comedy, and entirely unfiltered.
Let's address the elephant in the room—or should we say the hippo? Tarzan's animal buddies might be on the CGI side of unbelievable, but nothing beats the head-scratching action sequences and a certain character's newfound hobby of rosary-slinging. And while we've got a soft spot for Samuel L. Jackson trying to save the day, even he can't rescue this film from its own narrative quicksand. So, what's more realistic: Tarzan's raw egg diet or Alexander Skarsgård's abs? We're placing our bets.
Wrapping up, we take a potshot at the film's attempt to be a sequel without giving us the original, like serving dessert before the main course. We'll leave you pondering whether Tarzan's jungle call should be a signal for help or just a sign to switch off the TV. Whether you're here for our take on the king of the jungle or simply crave a hearty laugh at the expense of Hollywood folly, we've got you covered!

Brace yourselves, folks! We're rounding off our Twilight saga journey with a lively chat about the finale - Breaking Dawn Part 2. We question the logic behind stretching the thinnest book into two films, chuckle at the at-times questionable special effects, and puzzle over Alice's unchanging hairdo. We've coined a new term, 'two banger' to describe this phenomenon and Tony, who's not shying away from controversy, declares this the worst film in the series.
We've dissected every aspect of this movie - from its plot to its characters. With laughs galore, we discuss moments such as Dakota Fanning's character casually tossing a baby into a fire and the intriguing abilities of Rami Malik's character. The strange dynamics among characters also caught our attention - think Charlie and Bella's odd shift in relationship and the confounding love triangle involving Jacob and Renesmee (did I spell that right? I should have used subtitles...)
But the fun doesn't stop there. We've also explored the peculiar psychosexual politics of the film and pondered over Dakota Fanning's army and the unrealistic portrayal of teenage life. Our discussion even ventured into the realm of vampire-human reproduction (yes, you read that right) - a concept this film seems to embrace with gusto. Whether you're a die-hard Twilight fan or simply enjoy a hearty discussion about films, we promise you, this episode is a riot!

Can a 109-year-old man trapped in a 17-year-old body honestly fall for an 18-year-old girl and not get arrested? This week, Tony and Dan get down to the heart of the Twilight Saga. We laugh about Taylor Lautner's impressive physique, chuckle over Dan's love for the Twilight Saga, and throw shade at Taylor Swift's failed Twilight cameo attempt. We debate the controversial character of Jacob Black, explore the teenage female fantasy that Twilight caters to, and discuss the romantic tension or lack thereof in the film.
We question Bella's adrenaline junkie lifestyle, Edward's inexplicable presence in her room, and the real versus reel relationships Twilight portrays. We scrutinize the Cullen family, Edward's behavior towards Bella, and his reluctance to turn her into a vampire. We even contemplate Bella's defense of the vampires, the anti-climactic death of the redheaded vampire (what's her name), and Jacob's protective nature despite his disregard for the rules. We also share a laugh over the wolf muffins and Bella's multiple concussions throughout the saga.

What happens when a teen sex comedy from the 80s tries to parody a classic horror movie like Carrie? Join us, Dan and Tony, as we analyze the bizarre and confusing cinematic experience that is Zapped! We'll explore the cult following that has emerged around the film, as well as delve into peculiar aspects such as Scott Baio's laboratory, an awkward prom night, and the movie's unsettling treatment of women.

Having watched a few of these live action Disney remakes, we are finding that they try to make them about "real" people and take all wonder out of the worlds. So this one follows a family and the trauma of the dad coming home from war missing an arm. A fine thing to make a movie about but not a good jumping off place for a DUMBO movie. Dumbo is just a plot device for this family to come together.

The sequel no one wanted and I have to imagine no one will ever care about. At least the first one had Ryan Reynolds in it. Lots of talking and walking and following and not really anything much happening. Spoilers - the good guys win, now you don't have to watch it.

This movie makes less sense the more you think about it. At least Christopher Nolan movies just seem stupider the more you think about them. This is worse. But sadly Chris Pine is amazing, Florence Pugh is amazing, the production design is great. But the writing, mystery, thrills, sexiness, turns just aren't here. Its a huge jumble mess of ideas with no connecting thread.

This one is a classic mess - is it a kids movie? is it for adults? Is it really made for no one and is not at all funny - Yep that it is. This is not the classic that a Nightmare before Christmas was. There is not much here, no real friendship story, no romance, no adventure, no excitement. like I said not much. Of course the spoiler is that it's meh. And so is this show. How did you find this anyhow? Shouldn't you be working right now instead of listening to this?
This week the guys dive into the new Kevin Hart jambox Me Time and wish that instead of watching this movie they were having us time as best friends. Also, Tony wrote this description instead of Dan. After Twilight, they tried to follow the formula and make a bunch more movies that would appeal in the same way. The Mortal Instruments fails to do this. The only thing really good in here is Jamie Campbell Bower. He tries hard while the "star" girl is just bad.The villain is even worse, the betrayal by one in the midst is inconsequential and what they want is not at all defined. Oh Hollywood, just hire some people with chemistry and then you might stand a chance of having a movie.

The idea of Jurassic Park is that humans use science to recreate these magnificent animals for us to marvel at but human hubris leads to mismanagement which causes danger to people at the park. This movie is about how Dinos are the most bloodthirsty creatures ever and their only goal is to kill humans or their vehicles except when the humans hold out their hands or move slowly. No Wonder. Avatar is the most beautiful video game ever made, sadly they thought they could make more money releasing it as a bad movie instead. So they did that and made lots of money. But as a movie it is pretty thin, the writing is think, the story is thin, the acting is thin, etc. But as a sumptuous beautiful video game world, it is second to none, even all these years later. It is about a guy who becomes an alien and does it better than all of them so he leads them against the humans and wins. Yeah, right, sure.....

This movie is exactly what you think it is. An almost classic movie from 1991 with Mickey Roarke being Mickey and Don Johnson wondering why he isn't the biggest star in the world. It starts strong establishing these rebel characters in a slightly future world. Then come badly paced action scenes and villains that mostly just stand there and shoot guns. At least Don J. looks good throughout.

Will Smith used to be considered the most charming guy in Hollywood. He launched Blockbuster movies but also did ones where he played the common man. Then he made this piece garbage. He wrote the story and brought this film into the world and it is a giant mess of nutty attitudes and senseless uninspired action scenes. But the most amazing thing he did was maybe give us a peek into who he thinks he is. He plays a charmless monster of a father who forces his kid to overcome obstacles to save his character's life. Never once caring about the kid. And by the end of the movie he has not changed, he still thinks he did this right. It is a terrifying look at how he thinks a family should work. And he also found a way to make this movie phenomenally boring. Good job Will.

What is an artists duty? Probably nothing for the most of us that exist on the outskirts of fame. What is the duty of the artist with Fame? There is no duty but it is a platform that affords the artist a chance to do something good. It is lens that can reveal the good and bad of the world. It is a chance to talk about the human experience to large audience. But in a lot of cases, it is a chance to speak your truth. And in some cases, that truth is terrifying built on aberrant beliefs. Most of us spend our lives carefully curating what we say. But a few people with artistic voices go off and speak their darkest secrets not realizing that the world is happy to tear them down from their throne of fame and throw them in the gutter. What the world gives, it can just as easily take away...

This movie has been joke from the day it came out and for good reason. John Travolta's alien antagonist int he movie is laughable, his dialog is terrible and his delivery is unironically comical. I guess they just rereleased ET on Imax. I saw photos of people taking their full size ETs to the showings and buying them seats. Never has Hollywood been happier then the point where fans will buy tickets for inanimate objects. I think it is amazingly cool. I love when fandoms do their own things. They take over. Sadly they are still beholden to the studios to make them more content but not always. For so long Star Trek fans have written stories and made fan films. I get it. Gold is great. But if you make your whole life about acquiring gold, that will not be much of a life. And if your whole life is about acquiring gold, it is likely that your whole life is not about spending the gold. If you spent the first half of your life getting gold and the second half spending that gold, that would be OK. But that is not how it usually works. This movie thought to piggyback on the success of Gladiator. Their mistake was waiting 16 years and making a pretty uninspiring movie. The religious stuff is given the backseat and the chariot race tries to be exciting but never gets there. And thus you are not left with much to chew on. Great comedies are hard to make. They take great casting, great script, great premise, great direction, great cameos. Tropic Thunder was one of those movies. The Bubble is not. Everyone in the cast was great...in other movies. But the biggest issue is that this movie doesn't know who it is making fun of. Is it making fun of actors being privileged? No, it wants us to sympathize with what they go through. And thus there is no room for comedy. And don't get me started on Kate McKinnon. She is very funny but in this movie as in others, they think they can just give her crappy lines and she will turn them to gold. Well that does not happen. You have to do the work to get the laughs and the Bubble phones it in from beginning to end (except for Gus Khan - that guys a hero).

Not sure if Howard the Duck is canon to the MCU. Is the Howard we see with the Collector, the Howard in this movie? Or is this all a Multiverse set up for decades in the making? And to answer the clickbait title of this episode - No, Howard the Duck is not the MCU's greatest film (that would be Winter Soldier.) But Howard is a weird experiment in comic movies that fails pretty much all over the place.

Comic books. Animation. These things were for kids but now they really drive a lot of Hollywood. And that is a good thing. They are our myths. Our gods. Our stories. And we now have the tech to really bring these fantastic stories to life. And when they work, they are magic and have the ability to move us. When they are bad, they can be infinitely cringey. But the good news is, there are so many comics out there that Hollywood has a lot to pick from and it's gonna be great when we get a good Man-thing horror movie and the Goodwin/Simonson Manhunter gets a mini-series. Yes, he starred in this weeks movie. And this movie was much less interesting than him getting slapped by Mr. Smith. There was a TV show called the Slap that came out in 2015. The promo for the show was very silly and the show seemed very much overhyped. But for years after the show I thought about it. How weird the title was. How weird the premise was. A slap is such particular thing. It is almost a contrivance. And we saw one play out on live TV. An unscripted moment that we all get to grind through our own filter. Laying blame as we choose or even choosing not to believe the thing was "real". But a moment that will linger and come to mean different things over time. Time always makes it decisions slowly and no one can control those decisions.

We call this a 2 joke comedy because you laugh twice during the movie. Jackie went on to do great stuff and Steve Coogan is still killing it. But I'm sure they wish this one was not streaming out in the world.

Post it notes. Maybe the greatest human creation right after white out. Such a great little way of organizing and disorganizing. My desk is covered with them. Most I have no idea what they are about. old screen names or passwords or forgotten ideas. Sometimes they are ideas piled on other ideas . Some just have random names I thought of or random names of dinosaurs or alien races. But sometimes they are that great idea that is just waiting to be used. And when it is, that is magic.

We go old school to see how they did it in the 1980's and wow. This one feels more like a TV movie than a real movie. Not exciting, not good looking, bad acting but some wonderfully terrible special effects. This came out as a 3D movie so when those shots are converted to 2D they look especially terrible and thus GREAT! Plus Dennis Quaid, young and enthusiastic. Also a dog with long ears drinking water.

Captain EO. Tony doesn't remember it. I was stunned. It is kind of crazy that this is a forgotten thing. Maybe someday kids will rediscover it and say wow, this is the greatest thing ever. Or more likely no one will ever care again. This production that appeared for years will be gone from the collective consciousness. This is what is gonna happen to most of the media we love right now. Way back when there was vaudeville and a million stage plays which no one cares about. So many silent films forgotten, so many records unplayed and so many books. Books that will never be read, never loved. Now I have depressed myself. I'll go read a book.

Is this movie not funny - yes it is very not funny. Does int make Kevin James look bad - yes it makes Kevin James look bad. Is it another giant waste of Taylor Lautner - yes, nobody knows what to do with this guy except the British. But its worst sin is that it tries to repaint the true history of NFL coach Sean Payton. And for that, we hate this movie.

So I guess baseball is heading into a lockout. This happening in this day and age when you had hoped people would know better is just amazing. I'm not a baseball fan so it does not effect me but it is just one of those big wastes because of money and ego. It will get sorted out but not after a bunch of stupidity. But I guess that is the way of the world. Things have to go pure stupid until enough people suffer then it finally gets fixed. Sort of. Life.

Few movies fail harder in having a consistent tone as the movie Colossal. It sells us a different tone in each act and it makes the movie hard to take. In this video we talk a little about NFTs and not in a positive way. I'm hoping none of the cryptobros notice this and come after us. That is always a danger that they might find us and spam us and do other really hackersy stuff to silence our negative views about the art form of the future that are the NFTs. Who would want something that is amazing like a beautiful drawing or a cool bootleg action figure when you can kind of own a jpg that might be worth a fortune someday if you can find a person dumb enough to give you a fortune for it. Just the art form the world has been waiting for. maybe Elon Musk will know my name and speak it out into the webosphere so that I might be validated by the bros that live there....if only ...if only.

Comic books are good. They are an amazing form that is now getting the proper translation to the big and small screens. A lot times they get it right but a lot of times they get it wrong. The main issue being that comics go on and on and on - many of the characters have been around for 50+ years, in numerous comics. There must be thousands of stories to pick from when it comes to someone like Spiderman. So it takes the ability to synthesize a good 2 hour story out of 50+ years of content. That is hard. So lets applaud them for the successes and brace ourselves for more failures. The good news is that at least they are trying.

If you want to see a movie NOT about a Geostorm then Geostorm is the movie for you. You would think that the storm would be the main attraction of this movie but most of it takes place in outer space where there is no atmosphere and thus not a lot in the way of storms. Don't Look Up is one of the best looking wastes of time that the movies have provided us in a long time. Comedy. Everyone wants to be good at it, few are. Amazingly it is much easier for a comedic actor to perform drama than the other way around. I think that is because comedians aren't afraid to go there. Comedians are happy to play the idiot, they love digging into the villain, they have fun with it. But when "real" actors try to go the other way - OUCH. There is a reason why everybody loves Paul Rudd and it is comedy.

Way back in art school a teacher once asked what it is that we considered art. A painting? A movie? The scribbles of a child on a piece of paper? Our silly youTube show? As long as humankind has been there, there is the urge to create and communicate. So pretty much any gesture can be considered as art. And if that is so then someone has to separate the wheat fro the chaff. Who do you trust to tell you what is good and what art is bad. Like art can really be considered and figured out. We try and we fail but still we try. Because art is worth that. It is the reflection of us that we can view and try to understand. And we get it wrong a lot. And people like terrible stuff. Oh well.

This movie is about 2 1/2 hours too long and not surprisingly it is 2 1/2 hours long. Gore Verbinsky wowed us with the first Pirates movie and it has been downhill since then. Look for Armie Hammer being charmless and forgettable. Look for Johnny Depp as Tonto in a role that might just be his most embarrassing (go check out his latest fragrance commercial to see how he has become a parody of himself). Look for the bad guys that have plans you could care less about and wish were even moderately interesting. So there is a lot to look forward to in this gem.

Is Stardom a curse or a gift? AS with all things it is all about how you live your life. There are many stars who just live out int he public and it is not a problem. Jerry Seinfeld does his comedians show and just goes places and gets hassled very little while other stars are hounded by paparazzi to within an inch of their lives. I'm sure the best life in stardom is the one where you get the access wiht the success but the public doesn't love too much. Not that any of that matters for all the rest of us. The best thing about this movie is how short it is. Still it feels long. Brendan Fraser who had been on a good streak, struck out hard with this one. What does the future hold? Well, shortly lunch, then dinner, then breakfast, then repeat. Life is just a series of cycles. Is there someone out there that remembers all of this meals? Seems like that would be more of a burden than a gift. Could you have a different thing for every single meal? Most of us just cycle through the same things, over and over. I eat pretty much the same breakfast everyday and could imagine a world where that never changed. But by dinner I'd rather have something unique to the day. That does not happen much. Where am I going with this? Nowhere. For life is meaningless. Except now I'm starting to think about lunch....

Everyone knows the tragic story of Bruce Lee's son Brandon dying during the production of the first Crow movie. Well the even sadder news was they kept making Crow movies and boy did they end up being terrible. David Boreanez is here too, as is Tara Reid and Dennis Hopper and Danny Trejo, they try and fail too. This movie is a train wreck that crashed into a second train wreck. They sort of take some elements from the cartoon but they don't really go anywhere. And the poor guy that played Spike in Buffy is the villain but you know he was happy that the makeup made him unrecognizable. Emmy Rossum is in here too and some other realish people. And there is a turkey leg. We unpack it all.
Hate Watching with Dan and Tony is a show that contains way too much Dan and Tony.

Watching some skateboarding at the Olympics. And these kids are 12 years old and killing it. When I was twelve I was watching Hong Kong Phooey and just trying to figure out how to do math. These kids are amazing and supportive and throw the idea that sports is just about competing against someone. These kids are striving to be their best. And it is damn impressive.

What happens when you make a movie that lacks all the charm, humor and heart of one of the greatest television series of all time? You end up with this confusing pile of junk. Some things are better left alone or maybe just let the creators do a new tv series (oh yeah they did that and made Korra which was wonderful). I root for M Night but this movie just didn't have a chance.

Pizza. Is there anyone that does not love pizza. If there is I don't want to know that person. Pizza is perfection. In life we are always looking for that little bit of perfection. The perfect dessert, the perfect day at the beach, the perfect hot shower at the end of a long day. We can try to replicate the perfect experience but each time it feels a little more hollow. So you mix it up but still you search for that perfection. Finding it less and less and hoping more and more that it can be experienced again. Then you give up hope. But then out of the blue, you have another perfect experience. And you start the hunt all over again.

I just did a math equation for the first time in years. I use math when I make stuff sometimes but this was a slightly challenging problem someone posed on Twitter and I thought, lets try. Well luckily I was able to do it but sadly it reminded me of how much stuff we learn in our lives that never gets used. Just packed away I the deep recesses of our brains slowly losing potency. What a great analogy for all of life. Maybe I should get a brain app on my phone. Yeah that will work. Maybe. Doubt it. Oh well.

Jonah Hex is a comic that even comic book people try to forget. So why make a movie of it? That is a question that will never be answered. And they didn't even get the character right. Josh Brolin tries and John Malkovich does some stuff which is better forgotten. Oh yeah and Megan Fox is in this mess too.

Well I had written a whole thing down here and somehow it got lost. It was all about how we've struggled and worked to put out this show for a year to little or no accolades. We are ready for our spotlight. For the adoration. The limos. The Christmas gifts. When is our time in the spotlight. Even 15 minutes would do. Actually 15 minutes is way too short a time. 12-24 months would be better. I think think we deserve that for a years worth of shows. Come on. Please. Ok 1 month? Please. Ok we will take the 15 minutes.....

It took a long time to get this Independence Day sequel and that time was not spent well. This movie not surprisingly just sort of rehashes the old movies beats but with a new cast that just can't pull it off. Will Smith rose to stardom based on the first film but don't expect that of this cast.
Hate Watching is a show that runs over the hour but with the comedy of a show half as long.

Has TV eclipsed the movies? I think it has. The TV space just allows for more through storytelling. We love sitting in our houses absorbing 8 hours of the latest show on Netflix. And TV just so easily travels around the world. People just fire up their devices and are feeding content into their brains. That said the movie theatre is not going away. People still love the experience or the huge movie. Vin Deisel's face as big as a house. His teeth as big as a washing machine. Big Vin Big Vin, they all chant as we get just one more fast and furious movie......

Well, well, well. Its that time of the week where I write my little thing. I complain about the world and then try to find some part of the world that is working that counteracts the disfunction that we suffer through. Today that thing is LICORICE. What a strange word but what a wonderful candy. Basically it is just delicious gummy sugar. I am partial to the red flavors but have enjoyed weird flavors like apple in the past. It would be fun to make it. But ive never really made any candy. Mostly I used to bake. I don't bake as much anymore because I like to eat what I bake. Really like to eat it. Dust - shall we talk about dust - is it all just specks of human skin? is that what we are always breathing in - are our lungs just dead dry human skin filters - that is a horrific thought - I'm not sure where I am at today but it just be a terrible place if that is where I'm going - I can hear the trash truck in the distance - collecting bags of reefs to be delivered to a giant mountain of garbage - the debris of human existence is a psychic drain on your mind when you think to long about it - maybe I was better thinking about dust.

Well this week I discovered Tiktok. It is a crazy thing. So much content, so short and so odd. I think it is the ultimate thing for people with the attention spans of gnats. I think that is what we are all becoming, if something is longer than 15 seconds, we get bored (just try to make it though all 2 1/2 hours of Army of the Dead without looking at your phone). Do cellphones make our lives better? Well they make them more convenient. and certainly they have saved lives, made people lots of money and make it easier when our cars break down. But they also act as a tether to the immediacy of life. It is hard to get away from checking the phone, looking at instagram or ordering Postmates. Awards shows...they used to be a thing but more and more, no one cares. For good reason. The mediascape is so wide ranging, you can just go out there and find what you like. The Witcher is a good example of this. People love it. I got bored after one episode. Should it be destroyed and then off the air? No. It is made for a certain specific audience that likes it. The rest of us should just F*** off and go find something made for us. That said, the Witcher is silly and his wig is dopey. I hope that is a wig, is it's Henry's really hair, ouch.

What is the next big thing? I don't know. Big things come out of nowhere. They just evolve in the media space. Sometimes things come and go without fanfare and then take years to be discovered. Tony starts with a story about a can opener which is more entertaining than anything in Boss Level. This movie is so thin that I had forgotten I had even watched it the day after I did watch it. Is streaming going to kill the movie theatre? It may have already. Still I think there is the need for the movie theater experience. Sitting all together and hearing that laughter or other human responses to what is happening on the screen. To see those human face blown up to a scale that is monolithic. People still pay for that in person experience. There are no lack of lines at Disneyland and other themed experiences. Who knows what the future holds but one thing I do know is that the newspaper comic is pretty much dead and never coming back. Things change and we get used to it.

The Wachowski's changed cinema with the Matrix. They keep trying to have another defining film by moving in a thousand different directions and sadly it has not really worked out too great. The Trilogy. As a kid we loved it. We fall in love with a movie and then they make 2 more and rake in the big cash. Most of the time we get to that third movie and we realize that the initial idea really didn't need to be revisited that third time (remember the Ewoks). Some franchises start and then keep going to varying levels of success (think Alien vs Aliens). Now we are sitting here waiting for 3-5 more Avatar movies. Is there a hunger for these movies? Who knows. But we may find out. Zack Snyder envisioned a whole bunch more JLA movies and he is never gonna get them because Joss Whedon stepped in and made a garbage movie. What's my point? What is normal? That is a question that is impossible to answer for anything viewed through the personal lens is immediately subjected to the subjectivity of the viewer. In a sense the viewer constructs reality in the act of viewing reality. So there can never really be consensus when it comes to decking what normal it. Was thinking about MySpace today. I still have a tab on my computer for my old MySpace page. I loved MySpace, you could set it up however you wanted within their weird page layout. Post images and connect with people. Then their interface got older and Facebook came along and MySpace didn't update with the times and then it was dead. They have tried to revive the corpse but that has not worked. And now we are stuck with all the issues of Facebook, which in turn will get killed by some other platform. And that is the way of life, each stronger platform comes, kills off the weaker ones until a stronger platform kills it and takes supremacy. Just like us all. Waiting for age to take us down. Remember. Memory. In a sense it is all we have. That big stockpile of stuff that sits in our brains. We access it to help make decisions. Sometimes we don't and we make terrible decisions. Sometimes those terrible decisions are the right decisions. Memory. The one thing we sometimes forget is that it is not real. This episode we have a special guest, Dan's wife Shannon. She picked the Blue Lagoon. It was very boring. They have a baby. And the probably die at the end. Way to bring us down 1980.
If you like this episode let us know and we will bring Shannon back.
Hate Watching with Dan and Tony is a show and podcast and experience where two guys and one of the guys wives talk about a movie and length.

Marriage. A sacred bond between two people. An excuse for two people to live together and have one of them drive the other person crazy. And yes I do drive my wife crazy. I hide the Kleenex. I gaslight her by saying that there are jewel thieves living in the attic, you know all that stuff that we always do to the woman they love. But there are the times where she calms me down when there are octopus aliens coming in the windows. Or when my brain is turning to mush on the floor. That is marriage, putting up with it all and then coming out the other end and ordering Postmates.

Low budget - check. Weird kill scenes - check. Brief Nudity - check. Santa is the murderer - check. Well this movie checks a lot of boxes and is kind of fun. Who doesn't love a movie where Santa impales a girl on stuffed deer head?
Hate Watching is a show where two guys watch movies and then take the time to make fun of them.

Life is a four letter word. And by four letter word I mean it contains a total of four letters. The first is "L" and that stands for Love for what is life without love (here's a hint, its terrible). "I" is for eyes, one of the main ways of seeing. "F" is for "F*!#", it is the thing I say when I trip and stub my toe. "E" is for everything else and that is a whole lot of stuff. That is life but it's also even more. It is the miracle of what goes on here on the planet, trees, microbes, bugs, ticks (ticks aren't bugs BTW), Santa, his elves, blood oranges, after school specials, and on and on. I could go on and on butt that is what your are expecting e to do. Just said butt.

Continuing our month of holiday movies is Deck the Halls. This movie that answers the question, is Matthew Broderick funny? Sadly the answer is not really. As opposed to Danny Devito and Kristen Chenowith who are super funny. Maybe put some holiday joy into your holiday movie. Just an idea.

Well well well. Who threw Timmy down the well? As kids we were taught to be careful when playing because we might fall down a well. I lived in Southern California. There were no wells. We had indoor plumbing. We were civilized. We were not animals. Except when it came to Christmas. Well at least I was an animal when it came to Christmas. Actually I was more just obsessed. Pouring over the Sears Wishbook. I looked at each page and gauged what were the perfect toys. I did this too when I went to the actual toy store but in truth my passion lay in looking at the images in the catalog. Not surprising that I spent 20 years making living buying and selling on eBay every day. Our childhoods inform everything about our adult lives. But really, who threw Timmy down the well?

Jack Frost is the heartwarming tale of a dad who dies and then comes back to life as a snowman to teach his kid a tricky hockey shot and to fix a leaky pipe in the kitchen that his wife couldn't fix because you know, she's a girl???? All that and some other stuff.
Hate Watching with Dan and Tony is a show where feelings are expressed and they are not the ones of the audience.

For those of us that live in California, the idea of snow and snowing is magical and exotic. But one time I went to Rhode Island in the winter and the snow had mostly melted and these big piles of dirty snow were piled up in the shady areas of parking lots and buildings and it was gross. I'm sure any snowman made of this snow would be grey and sad. Thankfully movie snowmen are white as the driven snow. What is driven snow? Snow people take other places because it is nice? That seems pretty weird, why drive it around if it just falls from the sky. These are the things I think about.

Somedays you wake up and you have had some crazy dreams. You start your day and it is just like every other day. None of those great dream dynamics happen in real life. No one you know transforms into a lizard person while the police are talking to them. Why do dreams make themselves so interesting and then reality never backs it up. It's not fair. I'm calling foul. I'm sick of reality being so real. We need more surreal in the real. There I said it. Now I better get to work doing it.

How many is too many. When it comes to candy your stomach will tell you. When it comes to comic books, the amount of load bearing walls can make a difference if you are storing them on the second floor. In America we like to take things to excess. How many sports cars does it take to prove you are a man. Do you really need to own Steve McQueen's 1968 Ford Mustang GT? Do you have the $3+million dollars to buy it? I don't but if there is a bank out there willing to loan me the money, I'm will to try to pay it back. And if I default on the loan at least I will have had the car for a few months to drive around in. And boy would I look cool in the car. Not that I go anywhere that people would admire it. Mostly I just go to Rite Aid and the grocery store. And I'm not gonna park it at either of those places. All those shopping carts. Life finds a way to ruin everything. I think I'll go eat a cookie.

Will they go for 17? I doubt it. These guys are soft, weak, fragile, tiresome, weak, real weak and tiresome. But we'll see and by we'll I mean me. I'll be here just to see. 50 Shades of Grey is a movie about a guy who has serious issues and needs to seek help. Instead the creators act like he is OK so as to make a movie that middle aged women might like. Wouldn't it be nice if life was like the movies. Billionaires took us all on vacations and had secret rooms to keep us in. Happy Halloween everybody. For our final movie of the season we watched the Netflix's Hubie Halloween. Adam Sandler is back playing a character that could not exist in the real world and man this bit is getting old. Halloween, a day where we celebrate the dark, the unknown, the impossible. And an excuse to cover our lawns in plastic grave stones, our walls with giant fuzzy spiders and fill our pantries with delicious candy. Not that I need an excuse to buy candy. I love candy. Each year I buy it and then no kids come to our door because no kids live in our neighborhood. Then I eat it all myself until I feel sick. I'm going to do it again this year and next year and on and on because you're never too old to get sick eating Halloween candy. It's my thing. Since I was a kid. Have a good Halloween everyone.

Re-animator is one of those gory, fun, silly, over the top movies that we all love. So for once we had a movie that was enjoyable top to bottom. How should we judge works from the past? HP Lovecraft had some incredibly problematic beliefs when viewed though the lens of todays standards. That said, his creations live on well beyond whatever terrible beliefs he ascribed to during his life. The thing that resonated from him are not those beliefs, it is the worlds he created that resonate. And now we have plush Cthulhu toys and Lovecraft RPGs. The world is a better place because of plush Cthulhu toys and Lovecraft RPGs. So the world is a better place because of HP Lovecraft. Sorry for getting serious. Butt crack. Hope that makes it better.

Here you go our take on the new Netflix doc the Social Dilemma. In the Social Dilemma a bunch of tech people try to tell us that they have created the biggest existential threat to humanity ever. And if we don't change, society will fall, there will be civil war, no more democracy, no more Tastykakes, etc. The only way for us to fix this is by listening to them some more. UGH. Dan and Tony don't buy this and we spend 85 minutes talking about it. They could go do something but social media has taught them that the only way to deal with a problem is by making a video that complains about that problem! On second thought maybe social media is the problem???????

Movies are the national pastime. I know you are saying that baseball is the national pastime. It used to be. Maybe back in the 1850's. Now people want real entertainment. The Jason Bourne movies are filled with action, they have an interesting premise and great casts. Abduction (2011) is a lackluster attempt to take Taylor Lautner of Twilight fame(?) and make him into aJason Bourne type action star. It does not work and it pretty nearly killed his career. In this episode we talk about the Love Guru, Mike Myers' (not Michael Myers from the Halloween movies) movie that pretty much killed his career. Dan being the dope that he is says that Mariska Hargitay is Jane Russell's daughter and not Jane Mansfield who is actually her mother. Tony on the other hand goes into an extensive explanation about how he deconstructs movie kissing scenes (it's really weird). I'm sitting here thinking about childhood. As a kid all things are new, each movie is a discovery, each comic book is a new place to imagine. As an adult that all dies. Everything is a retread or boring or badly handled. We slog from movie to movie, show to show trying to recapture that youth. But it is gone. Where can we find hope? In nostalgia? Sometimes. In creation of our own? Yes. That is the place. Go. Make. Do. Then come back and consume with fresh eyes. Happy eyes. Or don't.
