Well pour yourself a glass of wine (or a shot of tequila – we’re not picky) and join veteran Grey’s fans Abbey Moore and Bri Babbitt to discuss, dissect and indulge in chatter of your favorite characters, heartbreaking moments and everything in between.
We will be re-watching the entire series starting with Season 1 Episode 1 – and encourage you to do the same. You won’t be sorry! Or you might, but we will just forget that. Just like we did with the musical episode in Season 7.
Be warned! From the very beginning this is a spoilers podcast. We reference the entire show and everything that has happened through to current Greys. We do not recommend listening if this is your first time watching the show.

Welcome to our final episode! Grey’s Anatomy may be continuing on (and let’s be real - is it ever going to end?!) but unfortunately our show is going to be stopping. We always said that we would stop when Meredith Grey left the show - and although that happened and she’s already back - we’ve decided to end The On-Call Room. We never want to podcast about something unless we feel truly passionate about it - and we only want to give you all a product that we feel we have put everything into. We both have so many other places to put our focus right now - that we would hate to continue just for the sake of continuing (ie: what Grey’s is doing). Sometimes the best things end - and that’s okay!

We're back for the final episode of Season 19! The final episode of what is currently available for Grey's Anatomy! We actually did it! Bri and Abbey recorded this episode together - so of course there is a bout of technology issues and giggling laughter - but they do ultimately make it through the monologues to discuss everything from Simone's wedding to Jo and Link's admission of love. They discuss the actual Catherine Fox Awards and the lack of a Bailey speech as well as the incredibly awkward ending for Meredith and Nick.

Lucas continues to forget things and mess up on patients and Nick loses his patience with him and tells him to get his meds under control for his ADHD. Nick and Winston are both nominated for a Catherine Fox Award and are invited to go to the awards ceremony which is being held in Boston.

Some are silly like oat milk in the cafeteria, and non allergenic pillows in the on call room, but some are more serious. It turns out that their salary is not enough to live in Seattle.

It’s Maggie’s final day at Grey-Sloan, Richard apologizes for his reaction and tells her that he is proud of her and that he will miss her. She ends up telling Winston that she wants to change history and not stay in a relationship to keep the peace like Ellis and her Mother did. When she gets into the elevator to leave we see both her Mom’s on either side of her.
Kai uses the Seattle office for the day and when Amelia tries to encourage them to move to Seattle to do their work, Kai lets her know that the reason their relationship has worked is because her days with Scout do not overlap with their days together.:

After working together all day on a patient named Seth, Simone realizes that Lucas knows her best and asks him to be her Man of Honor - he agrees.
On Maggie’s last day an emergency surgery comes through that she has to take on and she asks Winston to help her. It’s an extremely risky thymoma but together they accomplish the impossible and save the woman’s life. They have a moment together outside the hospital where Maggie tells Winston that she couldn’t have done that without him, and then they go home and have sex.

Lexie offers her liver but she doesn't have the right blood, or liver juices, so she asks Meredith to do the transplant. After walking back and forth in a hallway while Cristina and Derek look with concern from afar, she decides to do it.
In other important news, Abbey cut her hair. It looks great.

These two episodes are packed with drama, GGBs, heartbreak, and death. That is right Grey's BB's this week on the podcast we say goodbye to George O'Malley. He was a good doctor, who was kind and gentle, quiet, and then got hit by a bus and died. Goodbye forever George.
Izzie can't remember a damn thing after having part of her brain removed...which when you put it that way, kind of makes sense. Then Karev says some shitty things to her, and she stops restartting her memory...classic. But, everyone is happy cause she remembers...and then she codes.
This of course is all happening while we find out that the person who got hit by the bus, was George. Izzie walks to the elevator...she gets on...the doors open..and there is GEORGE. Tears. GGBs. One of the best scenes we have ever had on Grey's.

S5 E22: It's Just Relationships

This episode is big. It is one of the biggest of our lives. We didn't know it was going to be one of the biggest of our lives. If you don't get that reference, go and read the monologue. But truly this is an episode jam packed with GGB's and all the things that make it a classic Grey's episode.
Callie and Arizona are struggling with their relationship, because Callie's bank account has been wiped clean and she is embarrassed that she has no money. George is calling time of death on patient after patient in the pit. He is discouraged, but Owen has a pretty sick teaching moment, encouraging George that by him doing the shit work, Owen could save a life...or something.
Derek and Meredith are getting ready for their big day, until Izzie starts seeing Denny again and realizes her tumor is back. Derek does some scans, and finds out that it is in fact a tumor, and he is unable to remove it. So, instead of Derek and Meredith getting married...IZZIE AND KAREV DO. What joy! What surprise! What tears!

Everyone is sorry, and everyone is asking for forgiveness, including Thatcher. He is newly sober and back to ask Mer and Lexie for forgiveness. This sends Mer into a spiral of yelling at a victim of abuse. Which leads to Chief screaming at Mer behind a curatin.
Afterward, Chief and Mer have a wonderful reconciliation moment. They have the sweetest head on the shoulder scene that melts our hearts.

This week we have old time friend and Grey's anatomy lover Amanda on! She brings great insight and great memories from our youth.
Derek is spending his time back at his trailer after his failed surgery, drinking a lot of beer, and hitting engagement rings with a baseball bat. Bailey sends Callie out to talk to him, but she never returns, so Owen goes out for them, but then he never returns. So, Bailey tells Chief and Chief heads to the woods to say some things. Derek is in the dark place, but not as dark as Izzie.
Izzie is teaching the interns how to diagnose a patient, with scans from patient X. It turns out that patient X is actually her, and she has a pretty terrible diagnosis. Izzie confides in Cristina in the blowy room, and after Izzie refuses treatment, Cristina drops the news on Alex...in the O.R. right before surgery.
Owen and Cristina are flirting and floating along, but we know that shit is about to get messy for them when she wakes him up and he shoves her against a wall cutting her arm open. Obviously it was an accident.

Welcome to a Twilight podcast. This week Bri travels down a deep dark hole of Bella, Edward, and Jacob (team Edward). Bri realizes she really missed the boat on a lot of young adult novels, and feels a little disappointed that she is reverting back to 13 years old again. Abbey OF COURSE has already read all the books and seen all the movies, because she is a champion of young adult fiction.
Owen is back and he is stabbing pigs. This is not a great first look Owen. I think you should try harder next time. More to come on Owen, but for now let us all just recognize that he stabbed five pigs.
Callie and Erica finally get together. It is really moving for Erica, and she now sees leaves on trees. Callie doesn't have quite the same response and jumps in bed with Mark again. Testing theories and what not. Probably not the kindest, or most adult response. Maybe next time she should try communicating with the person she is sleeping with. Just a thought.

It is what you all have been waiting for! Bri has finally finished the first Harry Potter book! Abbey and Bri take some time to discuss first impressions, favorite parts, and where we all go from here. Slowly, Abbey is creating her perfect partner, molding Bri into exactly who she wants her to be.
Kidneys. We have a lot of them this episode. This is THE kidney transplant. Joining us on this adventure, is Aaron Burr and his Dad. We have also have a husband who is cheating on his wife with a much younger lady. Both women are donating kidneys, unaware of the other. Obviously, that doesn't last long and the wife finds out.
So, of course she drops out and who comes to save the day? Bailey. With her super inappropriate Bailey teaching moment, not technically coercing the patient, but it is pretty damn close to coercion.
On the side story, we have the Shepard Method. Mer feels she is not being taken seriously by Derek, and is hurt that she wasn't included in the article about their clinical trial. Derek apologizes and brings Mer a peace offering, a kidney in a jar. See, this episode is all about kidneys.

S5 E3-E4: Would You Rather?

Would you rather have hands that keep growing or feet that keep growing? Would you rather be alone for the rest of your life, or surrounded by annoying people the rest of your life? How about your food is always too salty, or your food is not salty enough? These are some serious life questions that Abbey and Bri take on this episode.
The hospital is number 12 in the nation and Chief has something to say about it. He is on a rampage, making rules and enforcing them and avoiding the inevitable need to shut down the OR floor. It isn't until the ceiling collapses from a water leak on a SUPER unlucky patient, that Chief realizes he is mega crazy and tells Bailey to call Mercy West and transfer patients. Out of control.
George takes his intern exam again, and this time HE PASSES. Thank god we couldn't handle another loss for George. It's unfortunate he doesn't have much life left to live (spoiler alert).
Meredith decides she wants to have Derek live with her, and she is not ready to let her roommates go. He says it is fine for now, but clearly it is not and he is super condescending towards her. She should have probably stayed in therapy to talk about how smug Derek is, but love is truly blinding.
Cristina discovers Dermatology and it is a really special place with really special people and it seems like heaven. Everyone is bright and shiny and drinks fruit flavored water. Sadly, Mer, Cristina, and Izzie are all incapable of being bright shiny people and recognize they would never be satisfied dealing with skin conditions the rest of their careers.

This week we get to see Addison again. She is zen and she has a different hair color. Who were you in high school? Were you popular? Were you a nerd? Where did you eat lunch? Was it in the bathroom like Bri? All things high school on this episode of The On Call Room! Does any of it even matter anymore? Probably not.
As for our characters this week, Bailey is shook. Her super crush comes in after a bus accident and is all "Mandy!" which makes her laugh like a teenage girl. He's all sly, buttering her up, making her do his paperwork, AND THEN CLOSING HIS EYES ON HER (NOBODY PUTS BAILEY IN A CORNER). So, obviously she takes it out on Derek...makes perfect sense. And then we find out that Derek was a bank geek in high-school too.
Cristina has never skipped a class. Meredith was weird and brooding. Lexie was valedictorian and prom queen. Izzie was pregnant. Karev was taking care of his Dad. Other than that all the patients are in high school. One dude has a pencil in his eye and ends up dying. It's pretty sad cause he leaves behind his dork friend.
Moral of the story, no one is cool in high school, and if you were, you probably already peaked so that sucks for you.

This week Abbey shares her experience with travelling to Honduras. If you are interested in more of the story scroll to the bottom for a link to her blog. Bri doesn't have very much that happened to her, other than a soccer game and fall weather.
This is the episode that is so incredibly awkward. This is the episode where George and Izzie realize the *mind blowing sex* they had, that they have been waiting to have again, is not as they remembered. It is...aerobic and pretty bad. The whole episode is spent between the two of them trying to figure out the horizontal tango. It is a failure.
Meanwhile, Bailey is running the hospital moving patients into rooms together, to encourage them to leave...and poop. She is fixing problems left and right and not taking any of the credit. Until, finally Chief calls her out, and acknowledges her hard work...he then proceeds to fire Callie.
Meredith is still hating on Lexie, and Karev calls her out on it when he leaves to head to Joe's. Later that night he finds out Thatcher is an alcoholic. Chief and Derek are having a lovers quarrel over shirts and unlocked doors. Did we mention Chief is living on Derek's land?
It all ends with George and Izzie faking a good romp...only to admit to each other they're lying. Who knows? Maybe they just don't have that chemical reaction.

Most of the feels this episode come from Bird Man. Every time Abbey and Bri watch this story line, they both feel very sad. Izzie's inappropriate attention to patient's personal lives actually benefits her in this episode. She is able to help Bird Man feel calm during his surgery, as everyone is watching over him like hawks.
After a tough day in surgery, and only shaving one leg Izzie has a breakdown. She pushes back sex with George for another night. This love story is panning out to be PRETTY pathetic.
Cristina is shrinking Meredith while also "taking care of her". The true love story reigns again.
Oh and the episode ends with Lexie and Karev having sex, and Mer walking in on it...yikes.

This episode was rated some pretty high scalpels. We have a spooky Halloween episode that is perfectly done. There is no ears boy, phantom foot man, and Norman. People are chainsawing off their feet and trick-or-treating for ears. It is spooktastic.
Above all of that, we have Meredith carrying around her Mother's ashes in a Ziploc bag. It is just weird enough to fit perfectly into a Halloween special. She ends up dropping some of her on the hospital floor, where Derek McDreamy eye's her. It isn't until the last scence that Meredith puts her Mother to rest, in the perfect place, alongside exactly who Ellis would have wanted there.
Other than that, we have George and Izzie working through their first day together as a couple. At the beginning of the day Callie announces they have been sleeping together, so now the whole hospital knows. It is incredibly awkward.
AVA IS BACK and Karev is making out with her behind a curatin. She is the worst.

Mrs. Mama is in the house and gently, yet aggressively tears everyone apart. First one to be hit by the Mama is Meredith, being called selfish or inappropriate. George is Burke's guy and Mama has no idea who he is. Derek is not an honorable man cause he is still sleeping with Meredith in those sexy red sheets. And Cristina, poor Cristina has to come to terms with the fact that Burke is never going to come back...not even to say goodbye.
Beyond all that, George is going crazy ruining peoples lives. Chief is trying to delegate. Karev is smelling Meth and getting punched in the face. Bailey is about to erupt if she doesn't have a teaching moment soon. Callie is failing at being Chief Resident. Season 4 is off to a good start.

As for the other inters, we open with them as Residents. Our little intern babies are all grown up, with interns of their own. Interns that are include Lexie Grey, the girl from the bar AND Meredith's sister. This is bound to create some drama.
Addison is gone, doing private practice things and Burke is gone as well. Bailey is dealing with not being Chief Resident and Callie is fucking up managing all the new residents. It is a pretty mild season premiere until we hit the end.
Derek and Meredith officially break-up and then immediately proceed to have sex. AND THEN George shows up, and guess what...he loves Izzie too. Yup, that's right. What in the world are those two going to do??

S3 E25: We Have It All with Special Guest Kelsi Scrubbing In!

It is here. The big one. Season 3 is finally over and Abbey and Bri are shocked they've actually made it this far through the series.
Special guest Kelsi scrubs in this week and has knowledge Abbey and Bri could not even attempt to fake. She is a PA in a southern California emergency room (THE PIT) and damn good at her job, obvi.
THIS EPISODE IS ICONIC. It feels pretty boring through the first half but once it picks up momentum boy oh boy, it does not disappoint. We find out who Chief does and does not name to take his place. We see Meredith struggling to find peace in her relationship with Derek. Ava moves away (thank God). Izzie is stilllll pinning for George. Callie wants a baby. Addison is leaving. And then.....
Burke leaves Cristina at the alter. After practicing his vows in the OR to every drooling woman, he waits for a panicked Cristina to make it down the aisle. She has lost her eyebrows and she has lost her vows and cannot seem to meet Burke where he is at. Burke realizes he does not actually love Cristina, he loves the woman he thinks she will become. And just like that he is gone.
Cristina and Meredith stand together in a still fully furnished apartment and know that she is finally free. Is this good or bad? There are extreme hysterics, Ingrid Michaelson is playing and Meredith cuts Cristina free from the restraints of her wedding dress, holding her close. Where will Cristina go from here? Are Mer and Der over, so over? Is Callie going to have George's baby? Will Bailey recover from the loss of Chief Resident?

S3 E24: Follow Us with Special Guest JD Scrubbing In

This week we have a man's perspecitve! That's right listeners, if you want to know what a guy thinks of Grey's Anatomy look no further than to this episode. JD gives his insight into not only this weeks episode, but everything Grey's has to offer, you won't want to miss it.
It has finally arrived, the moment the interns have worked for, exam day. In true Grey's fashion there are multiple distractions taking place throughout the episode, so it's pretty obvious someone is about to fuck it all up.
Cristina is being harassed by Burke because tomorrow is wedding day. As Abbey points out why in the world would they choose to have their wedding the day after an exam, and why can't Burke just leave Cristina alone? Doesn't he understand this is the biggest day of her life thus far!
Meredith is getting ready to go to Susan's funeral, when Thatcher arrives and pretty much emotionally slaps her in the face again. He tells her he doesn't want her at the funeral, which leads to Meredith blank starring throughout her whole test. Luckily, Chief gives her a second shot.
George is moving to Mercy West, which has Izzie all up in her head. The love triangle continues.
Karev is still loving on Ava.
Beyond that, Callie crushes four surgeries putting herself in the running for Chief Resident. Adele shows up to the hospital and passes out in the bathroom, and they find the fourth climber from the mountain story line-- which at this point seems irrelevant.

Cristina wakes up to the mother's invading her apartment. That's right folks it is wedding planning time! This provides the viewers with some humor, as Cristina is obviously super uncomfortable. She's a good sport though, trying on puffy sleeved dresses and asking people to be her bridesmaids. Spoiler Alert: The bridesmaids dresses are absolutely hideous--however to be fair, aren't all bridesmaids dresses hideous?
Susan Grey gets the hiccups, which long story short she dies. Which is weird and super uncommon, cause...it's the hiccups. Regardless, it is all terrible and sad and then Thatcher slaps Meredith....which is also pretty messed up. She will be unpacking that one for quite sometime.

This episode is part one of a two part episode. Abbey and Bri have split the podcast into two episodes. This week they discuss Oceanside Wellness in LA where Addison goes to visit.
Addison wants a baby. Wow. She visits her friend Naomi, a fertility specialist, and after an emotional roller coaster finds out she only has two eggs left. Through this process she embarrases herself in an elevator, delivers a baby, looses her mind in an elevator, tells of a group of patients, cries, breaks down in a stairwell, and kisses the new character Pete.
We also meet the staff of Oceanside Wellness who will become the cast of Private Practice. We have Pete the naturopath, who is potentially the dark and twisty man. We have Cooper who is a pediatrician and is dating inappropriate women. Violet is the psychologist who is trying to get over her ex love. Sam and Naomi own the practice, are Addison's old friends, and recently got divorced.
Among all these new characters, we also have multiple patients. It makes for a difficult two episodes to process. These mash-ups episodes are hard for the viewer. Pilots are hard for the viewer. Loosing Addison from Grey's is also, hard for the viewer.

Cristina is avoiding planning this wedding. Burke wants and needs her to pick a flavor of a cake, because to him this means the marriage will work. She chooses the Red Velvet and then they make out. Side note, if you’re having a hard time getting Abbey’s attention, just make out with her.
Addison and Karev finally have sex.
Mer and Der are fighting. She tries to communicate with him all day, but actually ends up telling him what she is having for lunch, not actually how she is feeling. Derek responds with he can’t keep breathing for her, and he doesn’t know if he wants to try, only AFTER they have sex. Cool.

This week on The On Call Room special guest Lesley scrubs in with Abbey and Bri. She is living in New York with her cat and brought five pages of notes to discuss this week’s episode.
Karev continues to be inappropriate with Ava. She finally had some face work done, so it is a little less difficult to look at her, thank you Mark Sloan.
George and Izzie continue to be on the rocks, when someone from Izzie’s past shows up. Yes, Izzie has a child and she is sick. The parent’s ask Izzie to donate bone marrow to help save “Hannah’s” life. This all presents itself at a difficult time for Izzie, when she can’t go to her person George and confides in Bailey instead. This storyline bodes for great drama, but is LITERALLY NEVER spoken of again. This is pretty frustrating.
Chief is spitting his Chief wisdom at Derek and saying he can’t do both and he is looking out for Meredith. Well Chief, you fucked up because now Derek is all nervy about being with Mer because chiefdom is his ultimate desire.
Susan shows up and will not leave. This is annoying because she has literally never been a part of Meredith’s life. Now that Ellis is dead she is playing mommy and if you ask us, that is bull shit. However, by the end of the episode Mer leans into her fake mommy and finds appreciation for what Susan is attempting to do.

We have bone lady. Every time you touch her, she forms another bone. It is terrifying, or perhaps what is more terrifying is a high pitched speaking Elisabeth Moss as your daughter who places your hand in an awkward pose to help build an incredibly terrifying doll house that travels with you everywhere you go. Which is worse? You decide.
The race for Chief is on. Addison talks herself up in the mirror. Colin Marlow has a ten year plan, and "tweaks for the hospital". Mark has a right now plan, and wins over the board. Obviously, he steals this idea from a Bailey teaching moment.
George is hung as F*** and has to meet Callie's Dad. While he is out to lunch at Joe's Bar (the only place anyone goes in Seattle) he remembers his nighttime frolics with Izzie. Poor timing. George pulls Izzie into a storage closet and they dance around. It is decided they are not going to tell Callie. Honesty is not the best policy in this episode.

S3 E18: Izzie and George Bang it Out

This week on the On Call Room Izzie and George make a huge mistake, Cristina and Meredith are avoiding people in closets, and attendings are fighting in the hallways of the hospital.
Chief invites in the renowned surgeon Dr. Colin Marlow who just happens to be Cristina's old professor...who she happened to do the dirty dirty with...for three years. Burke is put off and all the attendings are showboating. Derek performs open heart surgery and Mark does face surgery on Ava causing her cervix to blow up.
Susan Grey is trying to mommy Meredith and is showing up everywhere. She forces herself over for dinner with Thatcher. Derek comes along and even though Alex crashes the feast it doesn't make the situation any less awkward.
George and Callie get in a big fight and he calls her curvy "face to palm". George heads over to Izzie's with a fifth and demands they drink together because he needs to be convinced he should have married Callie. They drink all the alcohol and Izzie wakes up with George naked next to her in her bed, implying they banged it out. Whoops. How are they going to get out of this mess??

S3 E15-17: When Ferry Boats Attack Part II

Welcome back to the three part story about main characters drowning and hospital purgatory. This week on the podcast Abbey and Bri explore all of the other storylines that took place over the Ferry Boat Massacre. Come follow along won’t you?
Izzie is back in the surgical game after drilling ‘Aaron’ Burr holes in a man’s head. She is a #rockstar except for when she gives her let us stay positive speech. She sees the good in everything, and she believes Meredith is going to make it, she also believes George’s marriage was a sham. Can anyone say timing? NOT NOW IZZIE REEL IT IN!
Cristina is buying dollar store junk, coping with Meredith dying. As the viewer we realize Cristina is unable to be there for people, until she knows everything is going to be ok.
Derek is breaking down, rightfully so. His lover is dying. He rushes to Meredith’s mother’s room and strokes her hair awkwardly. Then Ellis dies. Although it may seem as though intense head stroking was the cause of death, it clearly is her current heart condition that does her in. Important note: Derek did not kill Ellis, although he may have wanted to.
Karev is already crossing boundaries with smooshed face lady. More to come with that…
We round out the three part episode with extreme GGB’s. Unkle Bob’s “Swans” plays in the background as Denny and Izzie brush up to one another. Each of them in another dimension, so close they can almost touch, but yet so far away. And then come the tears, and they don’t stop even after the credits roll.

S3 E15-17: When Ferry Boats Attack Part I

Ladies and gentlemen of The On Call Room, boy do we have some episodes for you! It is a two part episode discussing three episodes. Confused? So are we, but there is a lot packed into this epic story line of Ferry Boat murder, so your hosts dedicated two whole episodes to this plot.
On part one this week we discuss Meredith’s storyline. Doesn’t everyone remember Britney Spears music video, “Every time” where she is drowning in a bathtub? Shortly after this was released Britney shaved her head and ran around smashing cars with an umbrella. Similarly, Meredith was floating under water a little too long in the tub, and at the end of the episode she shaves her head and smashes a car with an umbrella. Not really, but she ACTUALLY does drown. I am not sure which is worse.
Derek of course jumps in the water swims her to shore (we don’t get to actually see him swim her to shore, because logistically that would have been super difficult) and perform CPR on her. He gets shoved in a hall with Mark and cries, and then angrily strokes Ellis’s hair and blames her for Meredith’s breakdown.
Meanwhile, Meredith dies. No really, she dies and is in hospital purgatory with bomb squad and Denny trying to figure out why she “didn’t swim”. She’s running around trying to save Bonnie from bleeding out and crying about never seeing Derek again. Ellis shows up, gives her big hugs and tells her “she is anything but ordinary”. They encourage her to run towards the light, where Cristina is waiting for her. She awakes and has no brain damage. It is a miracle.

S3 E14: Pancetta Down My Pants

This week on The On Call Room Bri has Pancetta in her pants, or up her butt and around the corner. Abbey had a great few days visiting friends and bats. She played ding-dong-ditch and swam in salty pools whilst drinking bubbly teas.
Cristina isn't allowed to assist Burke in surgery until she gives him an answer on his proposal. It didn't take Callie long to respond to George, seeing as they arrive to the hospital after marrying in Vegas.
The Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic has opened and Bailey is familiarizing everyone with its protocol. Izzie is on the prowl for some patients who will provide her meaning. She misses the boat with a little girl who needs guidance from a woman. Bailey, in classic Bailey fashion has a brilliant teaching moment to the little girl and her father.
Ellis is lucid and proves to be an actual demon when she calls Meredith "nothing but ordinary." Ouch. We can tell as the viewer that this is going to plague Meredith and stick with her for sometime. She calls out her Mom on why she is ordinary, not the exact quote but she basically tells her Mom it was because she is a demon.
The most epic story line of this episode is toxic blood lady who makes everyone sick and pass out when they open her in surgery. The interns have to swoop in and save the day by putting weird bubble wrap on her exposed stomach. She lives and so do all the doctors.
Abbey and Bri agree that this is where Grey's starts to get good. Classic. They rate it around 7 scalpels. Solid rating.

S3 E13: Proposals and Blank Stares

It's a warm one folks. Bri's feet are swollen. Abbey is wearing a sports bra and shorts out for cocktails. George is grieving. His grieving process includes lots of sex. He is ravenous. He is scary. Grief does not look good on George.
Bailey wants to start a free clinic. Chief doesn't help her get signatures. Chief passes hypothetical future Chief scepter to Bailey. Chief is retiring. He wants Adele back. She is wearing a sex robe. There is another man in Chief's house.
Addison is a mess. She is running into counters. Karev confronts her about the kiss. She feels dumb.Burke and Cristina still aren't talking. Cristina eats cereal out of a box for dinner. Cristina talks first. Burke says "Marry me". Cristina blank stares.
George says "Marry me" to Callie. Callie shakes head and blank stares.
The episode ends and we all shake our heads and blank stare.
S3 E12: Return of the Quaid

First and foremost Dennis Quaid is back, safe in the arms of love. Bri is grateful to everyone who wished, prayed, or sent out positive vibes for his safe return. It worked! In other news, Bri went to Florida. PSA: Florida is not cool when it rains the whole time and people don't let you on an air boat ride. If you are looking to vacation somewhere and do not intend on going to Disney World probably just don't ever go to Florida.
As for this weeks episode it is Part 2 of George's breakdown. A lot goes down with Harold. First he is outputting enough pee, then his breathing-tube gets a kink in it, and ultimately he ends up loosing the fight. His body goes into multi-system organ failure and he dies. George leaves the hospital in a hurry and Cristina gives an epic speech about being in the "Dead Dad's Club".
Other story lines include: Meredith finding out her Dad also snores. Izzie is unapologetic to Bailey for being an emotional doctor. Addison kisses Karev. Burke and Cristina are still not talking. Derek manages to get some sleep with wax earplugs.
Spoiler Alert After Abbey and Bri discuss this weeks episode they call time of death and discuss the Season 14 finale! So, if you are all caught up on Grey's and sad this years season is over, don't you fret, your leading ladies give their initial reactions. Their discussion is rated somewhere between dead man left in a shed to Arizona and Callie potentially falling back in love. You decide!

S3 E11: Where is Dennis Quaid?

Welcome to another episode of The On-Call Room where the wine is flowing and the tears are plentiful. Why the tears? Not because of GGB's, but because of live theater "Hamilton" and stolen cars. Yes, you read that correctly. Bri's car has been stolen this week, and she is having some feels. Important edit of the podcast : Dennis Quaid has been found, dreams really do come true.
As for this weeks episode, it is part one of two. George's Dad is getting ready for surgery, and demands that all his tumor be taken out no matter what shape his body is in. Chief agrees, which feels very out of character for Chief. Regardless, they finish the surgery without George having any say. We can only imagine this will lead to some shit in Part 2.
Cristina and Burke are not speaking because they are both stubborn mules. Cristina tries to get multiple members of the staff to inquire and gain information about the state of Burke's hand, but Burke sees right through it. He doesn't give it up, leaving Cristina in the dark.
Izzie finally cashes her check from Denny. This is the last step she needs to accomplish before she is allowed to start performing surgery again. Perhaps she will get to perform surgery on the patient who has a super messed up spine?
Meredith admits to having abandonment issues when she finds out Derek has not been sleeping next to her due to her obnoxious snoring. We get why she has these issues as Thatcher roams the halls of the hospital like a lost puppy. His character is the epitome of a Magoo.
For all you listeners who enjoy the theater, specifically Hamilton, after the episode Abbey and Bri have a bonus section where they talk about the show. Bri recently saw it in Chicago and gives a rave review! 10 scalpels! All should see it, and all should listen to Abbey and Bri drool over what an amazing experience it was. However, if the theater doesn't strike your fancy (shame on you) then go ahead and turn off the podcast after the first time of death.
S3 E10: Is Sting in The Police?

To all of you listeners out there who are mother's Happy Belated Mother's Day from your hosts Abbey and Bri! We hope all of you had a fulfilling day, and aim to be more motherly than Ellis Grey. If you can't achieve that, we hope you have provided your children with a cool Aunt Adele.
For real though, speaking of mothers Ellis is a real bummer of a mom this episode. Sometimes it should be kept to yourself that you regret having children, or probably all of the time, especially if you are speaking directly to said child.
Bailey is pissed that Chief is not punishing Burke and Cristina for their rogue surgeries. Instead, she punishes Cristina by putting her on George's dad's service. Everyone else gets to be on the conjoined twins case. Many questions about this case: If one twin gets a boner does the other twin get one too? How can the woman have sex with one and not the other? Logistically, how does this work?
Meredith helps Addison deliver Molly's baby, but lets Addison down. Obviously, Meredith should never have been in that room in the first place. Mark continues to be a chauvinistic pig towards the women in the show. When do we start to like him again?
All the interns are mad at Cristina and Meredith tries to defend her, sticking by her person. George isn't ready to forgive Cristina for what she did, and perhaps neither is Burke. However, even though Burke and Cristina are not speaking he allows her in the elevator with Shepard to take a look at his tremor. Progress?

S3 E9: Robbing Banks and Lying about Tremors: A Burke and Cristina Story

Welcome to another episode of the On Call Room, where the weather is warm, the bugs are flying, and Spring storms are plentiful. Do not fret listeners you will have many weeks where your hosts Abbey and Bri complain about all the terrible things warm weather brings. Stay tuned!
This episode is supposed to be dramatic, but as Abbey states "It is and it isn't". We finally reach the moment where shit blows up with Burke and Cristina. Surprisingly, it is a little anti-climatic and everyone ends up alive. The lead up to this episode is made out to make the viewer believe it is going to be like the bomb episode SPOILER ALERT: it is not even close to pink mist and Anna Nalick's "Breathe".
George has gone off the deep end. He is a dick to his Mom, Dad, Callie, Izzie, Cristina...pretty much the whole cast of Grey's Anatomy. We get it George, your Dad is sick but that does not give you the right to run around this hospital sulking and picking fights! Go home.
Other important notes: Cristina tells on Burke, Burke shuts a door in Cristina's face, and Derek and Meredith finally have sex. This episode is meant to be drama-town, but is sort of a let down. No one died, Burke and Cristina performed the surgeries beautifully. Now that this story line has wrapped up we can move on to George's mental breakdown...coming soon.

S3 E8: "Did I Ever Tell You About the Time I Had a June Bug In My Vagina?"

It is warm weather again, and you know what that means..bugs on bugs on bugs. So, shut up and listen to Abbey and Bri talk about these terrifying encounters, from stink bugs to spiders. The fear is so great, Abbey is even dreaming about vacuuming them up. Stay tuned for the next 10 weeks of summer, where all they can talk about is insects destroying their lives...and how hot it is.
But, do not fret there is more to this episode than bug talk. Bri is on vacation and is livin' la vida loca. Abbey is installing new door locks, and both of them are in bright and shiny moods, just like Meredith. Even though Meredith is withholding sex from Derek, that doesn't stop her from taking a super sensual bright and shiny bubble bath with him. Opening scene of this episode makes Abbey and Bri uncomfortable, even though they're both crude people...must be the Catholic guilt.
George's Dad shows up in the hospital after a clavicle break, but in true Grey's fashion there is more to the story. Harold has cancer, and a broken heart and Cristina is put on his service. This is obviously leading to something larger in the story. Cristina and Burke are about to implode soon. The staff is picking up on it, the viewers are picking up on it, everyone knows that shit is about to blow up.
Chief is considering retiring, his marriage depends on it. Addison and Derek attempt to "help" him out of his depressive funk, when in actuality they end up bickering over past hurts. When will it end??
Izzie is still on do not touch duty and is shadowing Karev. After working on a patient with pectoral implants, he makes the grand gesture and lets Izzie take out the patients drain (which supposedly translates to I still love you and want to have sex with you). This of course leads to an awkward prolonged unwanted kiss in the stairwell. Izzie "just can't" and runs away. Luckily, they reunite in the bar (best place to reunite) and move past their awkward unwanted stairwell kiss.
It is obvious that this episode is building up to a big explosive episode, where break downs happen and people are upset at each other and there is a ton of drama. So, we get it Shonda...can we just get to that part already? Enough with the filler episodes...give us some GGBs!

Derek's sister Nancy shows up...and we never see her again. Chief learns to sew a button back on his shirt.
Izzie and Cristina are too consumed with their own lives, which makes them incapable of being George and Meredith's people. Cut to scene of George and Meredith in the elevator spewing "seriously's" and "McNastys". This was the only scene that made up for this crummy episode.

Mercury is in retrograde. Technology is fucked. Communication is fucked. This episode is a great representation of it. (Which is why you're getting it a day early).
Where do you bank? Are the tellers aliens? Do you have a safety security box? Do you put your beanie babies in it? How about dry ice, just so it’s spooky when you open it?
Breakfast is different than muffins — classic first note. Whatever Izzie is cooking reflects what mental state she’s in. She’s making breakfast and heading into the hospital today, where she walks into an auditorium full of people talking about Denny’s case
All this talk of Denny makes Bailey question herself. Callie is sleeping with Sloan. Burke’s not ok. Izzie’s not ok. Izzie is running around the hospital, when she should just be sent home. She doesn’t work there.
This episode is a filler, and it sucks. Storylines need to be resolved in order to head into the next phase. Derek and Addison are finally divorced. Izzie gets inspired by Cristina and wants to become a surgeon again. We’re all bored.
The most exciting part of this episode the patients who are stuck together during sex because of a penis piercing. Ouch. BUT pain brings pleasure! Except for this episode. All it brought was a lot of pain and an average 2 scalpel rating.

However, their very special guest has experienced it and has some great stories to tell. Not only does she have stories of labor and birth, but so many more! It is a classic Grey's opening scene. There is talk of an "adulterous love child", Meredith is puking, Mark Sloan is on staff now and a patient lights himself on fire by lighting a cigarette in a freaking hospital (idiot). Meredith is not pregnant, rather her appendix is about to burst; which leads to Meredith on pain meds, funniest version of Meredith ever.
Finn is always creeping around a corner waiting for Meredith. Derek takes himself out of the running and tells Mer to choose Finn, except Meredith doesn't (of course). She does manage to embarrass herself in front of everyone though from being high off of pain meds. Once again, best version of Meredith ever.
There is pregnant lady who wants to stick to her birth plan, cigarette man who no longer has a face (idiot), and Burke's tremor. Burke deserves an award for this performance, because his tremor is all over that screen, but don't worry "nobody needs to know". George bails on Callie at the last moment, which is no surprise and Izzie is a millionaire now which is actually, pretty surprising.

This week on The On-Call Room Rachel drops over to chat about the episode, and with her she brings a lot of cheese. Spoiler Alert: Abbey is very effected by it. Between Abbey ghosting for a half hour and Bri talking about her period, there is plenty of TMI. If that makes you uncomfortable, perhaps skip this episode. Or don't because Rachel has some pretty great insight to balance them out.
We open the episode with a dreamy sequence of Meredith in bed with Derek and Finn. Is a threesome your fantasy? It is not Rachel, Abbey, or Bri's fantasy (too many limbs, everyone is thinking about themselves, bags over heads).
George is a child and does not communicate with Callie that he would prefer her to find her own place. She gets upset, and leaves for a hotel, where every single other character happens to be staying (McSteamy, Chief, Addison).
Izzie stands outside the hospital this whole episode, waiting to gain the strength to go inside. Rachel is annoyed by it, because it is annoying. Bailey is fighting for Izzie to speak to the Chief, even though she committed a crime, WE KNOW WE KNOW get over it, but she should seriously not be allowed back in that hospital.
Derek and Finn date Meredith, poorly. She has her freak out on the front porch saying she wants romance and butterflies and sexy things. Blah blah blah, door slam, and roommate time in bed. Classic ending to a Grey's episode. Three roommates eating ice cream in bed together. Pretty middle of the road rating on this episode. Hopefully next week we get a little more drama!

This episode produces one of Abbey's favorite moments, drunk Addison. We have all been there, unable to cry, looking for some booze or Lin-Manuel Miranda to get those tears started. Addison does just this, calling Miranda "Amanda" and asking Joe to send her home at 10 PM. She heads home, but that doesn't stop her from calling McSteamy to her room. Well played Addie.
Izzie is baking too many muffins, finding a way to cope with her grief. Cristina is introduced to Burke's parents, while she is on top of him, in his hospital bed...in her red lingerie. Chief also walks in on Callie in HER underwear. Of course, they proceed to drink hot tea together. Chief and Callie would.
Meredith is having to choose between Finn and Derek. She finally flips a coin at the end of the episode, which Cristina tells her is stupid. She calls them both to the bar and tells them she wants to date...both of them. They are down and as Bri states "To have such power!"
The girls average a 6.5 scalpel rating on this episode. Not many GGB's but a few classic laughs helped the rating. Because who can resit Addison in a bucket hat?
S3 E1: Time is a Bitch - Season 3 Premiere with Patron Alyssa!

It’s part two of the three part finale and this storyline continues to be just as terrifying. If this plot isn’t spooky enough for you, don’t worry Bri has an awesomely terrifying tale of her new neighbor. Spoiler Alert: there are conch shells, ginger roots and witchy spells. Bri is not amused.
The ladies have their third patron Sonja on to discuss Izzies mental instability and Cristina’s failed emotional responses. She has great insight and will probably end up taking over the podcast.

This is an intense episode where literally everyone is breaking down. However, we finally get a resolution to the George and Meredith storyline which brings the only sense of relief in this whole episode.

Burke and Cristina are fighting, and then he gets shot, which is a major bummer. Addison and Derek are also fighting because Addison realizes that Derrick actually loves Meredith. She proceeds to scream about it in front of the whole hospital, another horrific moment in this episode.
Lisa defends Derek and Addison and teaches Abbey and Bri a new fan phrase, Addek. Lisa also previously wrote Grey's fanfiction, which will obviously need to be shared with The On Call Room listeners.

All the GGB's this episode! Both Abbey and Bri cried during this episode, and it makes perfect sense because the Mom who played Beatrice this episode, is the mom in Ladybird. Shout out Laurie Metcalf for giving all the GGB's in every one of your performances.
Abbey went to Hamilton again this weekend, and felt like this time she could truly appreciate it. That is because she has spent most of her time listening to the soundtrack, and could probably recite all the lines. She also ate a lot of seafood, couldn't get drunk, and watched her best friend and husband slowly disintegrate over a bottle of red wine.
Bri slowly disintegrated herself this weekend, as one of her best friends surprised her with a visit from New York. They brunched multiple times, drank too many mimosas, had a sleepover and the ultimate dance party. Both of their weekends were filled with laughter and excitement, separate from each other, so you know there was bound to be some FOMO.
This episode got rated pretty high on the Scalpel Scale, probably because of the tears. Let's be honest sometimes it feels incredible to have a good cry, and Grey's sure knows how to provide. Bailey is being mommy tracked, but is still capable of being a damn good surgeon, even with her increase of estrogen.
George brings the emotions, when he stops Thatcher from running into Meredith. It is in these moments that we see how good George truly is. Even when pissed at Meredith, he is still capable of protecting her. He also finds Callie in her hospital basement apartment, which do not even make us go there. It is a ridiculous plot, and there is no excuse for it.
Cristina is super competitive and Chief...well Chief is still Chiefin it up. Speaking of competitions, in the beginning of the episode did Burke REALLY not know Cristina was trying to explain Madonna?? They get some GGBs with the songs that are in this episode. It feels like a classic Greys episode, maybe because it’s the first time we hear “How to Save a Life”.

This is the episode we have all been dreading, where Meredith and George have sex. So, don’t worry these three ladies refuse to talk about much of the actual episode.
There’s talk of their boyfriends fashion, there are spells cast, and notes attempted to be sung. And even though this isn’t a favorite episode there’s plenty of conversation of characters, new and old.
Callie is introduced finally, Denny shows up again, and chief is trolling the hospital. We still have some Bailey teaching moments, and we see one of the first scenes where Meredith and Karev connect.
It always brings new insight into the series when a new voice speaks to an episode, so we thank you Annie for all you contributed. Even if this episode was dull, we managed to record our longest one yet!
S2 E18: Welcoming You With Open Legs

Holidays! Thankfulness! Christmas Trees! We’re headed into the holiday swing, recording around Christmas Trees and reflecting on the past weekend. Bri talks about meeting all of her boyfriends friends at Friendsgiving with an IBS spell, and Abbey and Bri talk about the best Thanksgiving celebration with Jake’s family.
This episode is just as epic as the past two, in different ways. We are introduced to two new characters. Ladies and gentleman, Mark Sloan is in the house and he joins Meredith in the "Dirty Mistress Gang". We also meet Thatcher, Meredith’s dad who can’t seem to ever say the right thing.
Cristina knows how to have a private dance party, and pulls Burke right in. This is a classic favorite scene, and both Bri and Abbey are thrilled by it.
At the end of the episode we have one of the most cringe worthy scenes in all of Grey’s history. Meredith and George...do it. It’s hard to even comprehend and Abbey and Bri struggle to even talk about it.
The ladies are still struggling with sound, they need a new microphone, so they apologize, but you should all donate to them damnit!
S2 E17: BOMB SQUAD Part 2: A Memesicle

She recently did a walkabout in New York City to fulfill her dream of seeing the original cast of Dear Evan Hanson on Broadway, and now all she can think about is the musical. Don’t be shocked when most of this episode is consumed by the theater, including Abbey and Bri writing a biographical play based on memes. You heard it here first, just wait for it to hit Broadway.
Bri’s sister welcomes twins, and she couldn’t be more happy for the family. She also hears her neighbors fornicating whilst in the bathroom, ultimately interrupting her “me” time.
This is part 2 of the bomb episode and it’s just as epic as part 1. The girls respond to Meredith’s monologue about what they would do if they knew they were going to die. They question why Bailey’s son goes by Tucker, even though that’s not his name, and rate this just as high as the last.
These two bomb episodes are classic Grey's and do not disappoint Abbey and Bri, leaving a 10 scalpel rating for the two combined. It’s the highest yet, so you know it’s good!

Watching Cristina shove hot dogs in her mouth is Bri’s spirit animal and Abbey and Bri agree that only Cristina could eat hot dogs that way without it being even slightly sexual.
Bailey delivers another teaching moment as she is 47 months pregnant, but sees all, hears all, and will be back. The interns stare uncomfortably, Abbey and Bri give it two thumbs up.

IT'S CHRISTMAS! Well, at least in the On Call Room world. This is our first Christmas episode and it delivers.
First and foremost Bri burned down her house because she woke up to a spider in her bed. She's looking for a new home, message her on Instagram.
Cristina is Jewish, Burke is surprised and spiritual, Karev is dirty Uncle Sal, and Bailey has a teaching moment with her unborn child. Derek rocks an iPod and clip on cell phone AND loves Meredith. It's finally here. What we've been waiting for...for months, and your hosts are less than impressed, but damn do they have some opinions.
Bri hates on Owen Hunt again, because he's the worst. Abbey wants tears and emotions, she wants GGB's and is sadly disappointed.

Happy Tuesday listeners! Bri and Abbey are back this week and they are literally so full that they can't shut up about how much food they consumed prior to recording and how hot they are. Sorry not sorry. Despite it being sort of boring episode (spoiler alert: Bri rates it 2 scalpels) they still find things to talk about for over an hour per usual.
Bri tells an extremely exciting story about how she is teaming up with her neighborhood cat-team to rescue a runaway cat named Rodman. The ending of the story is not as satisfying as you'd hope.
The girls discuss what Izzy was talking about when she wanted her friends to be there for her - and for once they are on Izzy's side. Girls must support each other - and not be condescending when they get hurt by snakes. They also talk about Olivia's waste of a character, weird video game music in the show and Mere getting a dog!
Last but not least you'll be treated to Abbey reciting her favorite scene of The Grinch. It's weird. We know.

This episode is full of Thanksgiving cheer, which is appropriate as we head into fall. Abbey claims Izzie as her Grey's holiday spirit animal because she likes to keep everyone happy, and Bri claims Cristina as her's because she likes to get drunk.
George is actually pretty funny and tolerable this episode and Burke is a pretty cool guy as well, saving the holiday with his mad cooking skills and poignant turtleneck.
Shot gun workup: vegetable guy. His story is kind of a drag, especially over the holiday. He's our only patient this episode, and spoiler alert: he dies.
Meredith and Derek say goodbye for the 15th time, and we can only assume Addison and Derek finally do it. At the end of the episode it's pretty obvious Meredith is going to get it on with some random as well.
All and all this episode gained a decent scalpel rating, because let's face it who doesn't love the holidays!

Scrubbing in with us this week is the infamous username "Iheartjoshhutcherson" Natalie Marcus! She's a joy to have on the podcast, and quite frankly, a joy to be around in general. Bri has finally moved, and tells her story of smudging her new apartment, coping with the move, and finally settling in. Natalie is visiting Abbey from Wisconsin, and Abbey is shooting yoga classes and ladies in their skivvies.
The three of them waste no time pouring wine and chatting their favorite characters. They do a quick shotgun work up of the patients in this episode, agreeing four patients is too many.
The ladies talk about the poor mans Derek, question what they would do if they were put in Sav's position, get annoyed by George (obviously), reiterate that Izzie is too emotional, and feel all the GGB's for Derek and Meredith in the final scene. The characters are finally developing and perhaps a new storyline is on it's way! Jumanji is mentioned again, because it deserves a special place in everyone's heart.

It's just another morning where Abbey and Bri drink coffee, and talk about your favorite show Grey's Anatomy. This week on the podcast Abbey and Bri spend a lot of time mentally preparing for the end of summer, and the transition into the next seasons (winter is coming). It's important to process aloud the inevitable weight gain and hibernation that's about to take place. Bri's favorite line in this episode is "great board chief" and makes sure she says it too many times. There's also pregnant man that looks like Ellen Degeneres, fire in body cavities, and a flirting Meredith who may or may not portray drunkenness and flirting in the same way. We are recording from a new location this week! Abbey drives over to Bri's house to mix things up a bit, and also because Bri refuses to leave her home after work.
Bri's life is a clumsy mess as she moves through Mercury Retrograde, and her notes this episode reflect it. Abbey has really grasped the theme of the episode, and it pairs perfectly where we are at astrologically. The two claim this as a "hippy dippy" episode because science is overlooked for psychics and faith in intuition.
Some of their favorite moments include, Karev reciting the plagues (which Bri almost names them all), the trailer, and Cristina and Burke entering a space in their relationship where they don't only have to be sexing when they enter the on call room.
This is the last episode before the season finale and the two of them are already dreaming up what big thing they can offer to their listeners when they finish season one. So, take a listen and gab along with these gals on the shifting of planets, and the growth of their favorite cast.

Bri has finished her first week of the whole 30 and Abbey drinks LaCroix with her in solidarity. Bri has also recently done some research on animals that kill the most humans, and shares her findings, Abbey graciously engages.
They question what the auditions would be like for medical ailments including seizures and "clearing." They decide they're on team Meredith when it comes to her choices in her love life and are over her bosses hounding her personal choice.
And of course they laugh uncontrollably throughout, especially when Abbey's chair squeaks and Bri thinks Abbey is hiding something.
Other thoughts include: Izzie copes with baking, George and Izzie are underdogs, Christina and Meredith are top dogs, and the casts hair is more realistic in this first season

Episode 6 is finally here and for the first time ever we have a hilarious guest scrubbing in on the pod! Original Grey’s viewer Kristen Claeys joins The On Call Room for what won’t be the last time. Somehow the girls begin talking about their Hogwarts houses - and Abbey realizes that George and her are both Hufflepuffs. This explains so much. The three girls discuss what happened the previous evening when they went out to a bar - and are wondering why they don’t get hit on by any McDreamy’s. They discuss the relationship traits of Derek and Burke - and wonder why they are so much more needy than the women they are with. They also apologize for shit talking to Shonda and realize that she could easily ruin all of their careers - including the podcast. The episode includes tumors, sad dads and finally some story lines that make them feel things. Including the first occurrence of GGB’s (Grey’s Goosebumps). Kristen leads Bri and Abbey in a game which they call the Bokhee game. Abbey and Bri act out emotions using only their eyes and it’s not the best game for a podcast.
