The sentencing of Tom and Molly Martens in a North Carolina Court for the manslaughter of Limerick dad Jason Corbett brings some closure to the terrible events of August 2015 when he was bludgeoned to death at his home by the father and daughter.
But it has left a terrible scar on his loving family who have had to sit through weeks of shocking evidence which painted a false picture of him as a violent and threatening man.
Nicola speaks to Niall Donald about the sentencing which will see the pair serve between 7 and 30 months in jail.

He is New York’s most notorious Russian mobster, who made and lost a fortune from heroin trafficking, tax fraud and diamond smuggling. A gulag survivor hardened by the harsh punishments of the Soviet Union, Boris Biba Nayfeld became a gang enforcer and later a mob boss suspected of murder, torture and doing business with the Mafia’s infamous 'Five Families'.
A larger-than-life, vodka-swilling, chess-playing pensioner, he has finally opened up to author Douglas Century, whose book 'The Last Boss of Brighton' is a kaleidoscope of stories of sex, drugs and murder. Now, Nicola Tallant talks with Douglas about his time in the company of the old-school Russian gangster. He tells her about Biba’s journey from Belarus to Brighton Beach, about the $300 million fortune he earned and lost and about the unlikely friendship they developed as they learned about connections of their past.

An underground bunker, a community of internet warriors attempting to create their own other world nirvana and an Irish criminal Godfather afraid of the dark. It sounds like the plot of a Netflix drama - and it is but it’s far from fiction.
Nicola speaks to Max Rainer and Killian Lieb, the writers and directors of 'Cyberbunker' a new true crime documentary to be screened on the streaming giant from November 8th.
We discuss the extraordinary events that led 600 German police to the former NATO bunker high above the Mosel Valley and the Irish criminal, George ‘The Penguin’ Mitchell whose presence led them there.

A key member of the Kinahan organisation has been released from prison with another senior operative due out in the coming days.
Both Liam Brannigan and Dean Howe have served their sentences for a feud-related conspiracy to kill, and Gardai will be watching closely to see if they leave for Dubai or try to regroup in Dublin.
Nicola speaks to Niall Donald about Brannigan described by a Judge as the ‘centre of the wheel’ of a plot to murder Hutch associate Gary Hanley in 2017 and his sidekick Howe.
We discuss their backgrounds, their familial bonds with some of the top echelons of the Kinahan cartel and the future prospects for them back home.

Supergrass Gary Haggarty admitted to five murders, another five attempted murders and more than 200 terror offences during his time as an Ulster Volunteer Force boss and before he became a State Witness in Northern Ireland.
So how do we take the evidence of a career tout and a murderer who denied being a serial killer when he stood to give evidence at a murder trial in Belfast in recent weeks? Can he be both a serious criminal and a truthful witness? Is the case of the tragic murders of catholic workmen Gary Connie and Eamon Fox the last time we will see Haggarty give evidence and is this the last of the Supergrass trials?
Nicola speaks to Belfast Telegraph crime correspondent Allison Morris about the witness, the murder of innocent and about the dark times of the past.

A massive dollars 35 million has been put up as a reward for information into the unsolved death of a wealthy Toronto couple killed in their home in 2017.
Barry and Honey Sherman were discovered side by side at their indoor pool with leather belts looped around their necks and tied to the railings but cops first thought their deaths to be a domestic murder suicide.
Instead a killer had gained entry and murdered then both leaving behind a mystery shrouded in allegations of debts and unpopular business decisions which had left Barry Sherman with many enemies.
Nicola speaks with the Toronto Sun Crime journalist Brad Hunter about the case and what new leads may have been drawn from the massive reward offered.

Last year, the people of Derry marked the fiftieth anniversary of the Bloody Sunday massacre. The brutal attack by the British Army on unarmed protestors left fourteen people dead and has been a source of anger and grief in the city for half a century. Now, for the first time, following a thirty-year campaign by the victims’ families, one of the soldiers involved in the killings is facing trial for the murders of two young men, and the attempted murders of three more. I went to Derry recently to meet those families, to visit the Museum of Free Derry, and to see for myself the streets where the killing happened.
In this episode, I’m talking to John Kelly, the brother of Michael Kelly, who was killed, aged just 17, during Bloody Sunday. John shows me around the Museum of Free Derry, where he works, and tells me about the museum’s origins and purpose. He also talks movingly about the impact of his brother’s death on him, and his family, over the last fifty years.

In court today, Professor Michael Ryan said that there was no evidence to support the suggestion that an admission given to Gardai by Jozef Puska was related to the effects of an opioid painkiller.
Niall Donald speaks to Crime World’s Clodagh Meaney as the prosecutions case nears its close.

Witch, devil worshipper and Ireland’s first serial killer are just some of the titles that have been bestowed on Darkey Kelly over the years.
Born in the 1700s as Dorcus, she ran a brothel on Fishamble Street in Dublin’s city centre.
And while not much is known about her life, the story went that she was burned at the stake for witchcraft after she sacrificed her baby to the devil in 1746.
But in 2011, researchers debunked the theory when they discovered that the sex worker was actually publicly executed in 1761 for the murder of shoemaker Patrick Dowling on March 17th the year previously.
However, a new theory began to emerge that she was a serial killer after a newspaper report suggested that five bodies were found beneath the floorboards of her former broth
In 2022, PHD researcher Shannon Hughes Spence, who has an interest in women, witches and murder, took it upon herself to investigate whether or not Darkey was in fact a serial killer.
Crime World's Clodagh Meaney chats with Shannon to discuss the King of Hell, public executions and the truth about the infamous murderer.

Socialite Fran Fennell lived it up on a rollercoaster of holidays and nights out with models and executives while selling vast amount of cocaine to the party circuit. And he made vast profits from a unique cocaine start up which saw him fly human mules from Ireland to Australia where he could quadruple his profits.
But the playboy dealer who was groomed by underworld killer Eamon ‘The Don’ Dunne and who supplied Dublin high society with lines of cocaine has lost it all after law enforcement on both sides of the globes cracked down on his business and seized his money and shut down his gang.
This month Fennell was told he will do eight years in jail for drug trafficking while his co-accused were handed sentences for their roles in the operation.

A new crime drama co-funded by RTE follows the mystery of a missing Irish couple in New Zealand and features a immoral female crime journalist whose character follows a tired Hollywood cliché of the profession as unethical and ruthless.
The International Women’s Media Foundation says the tired trope of sexualised female journalists persists in popular culture despite being crass, base and often offensive and which it blames for driving women out of the profession.
So will the character of Aileen Ryan flip as the writers of 'The Gone' insist she will as the drama unfolds, or is this prime time drama feeding the gender based harassment and abuse experienced by women in journalism.
Nicola is joined by Niall Donald and Sunday World News Editor Eimear Rabbitt as they delve into the misrepresentation of female journalists on the big and small screen.
