0:00 Introduction
13:44 How can we broadmindedly understand Brahma’s being attracted to his daughter?
25:50 Since the purports of the Bhagavatam are written for a certain audience, should we only read the verses so we don’t get confused?
35:46 What is the difference between Advaita Vedanta and Gaudiya Vaishnavism?
47:11 In the Free Radical Podcast with Jeffery Long, who is aligned with the RamaKrishna mission, he responded to the question “What does God mean to you today?,” with “friend” which is personal. Why would an Advaita Vedantin think of God in a personal way?
52:58 Earlier in your reply about Advaita Vedanta you mentioned that once a practitioner attains mukti, they don’t come back—it’s an eternal destination. Can you explain Srila Prabhupada’s description someone who has attained sayujya-mukti as getting bored in brahman and coming “back down”?
1:09:00 Over the years, I have learned that every practitioner’s practice will become enhanced by chanting the maha-mantra even if they are in a different tradition. This seems sectarian to me. Where does this necessity come from?
1:21:32 If there is validity to honoring what is true for us, how do we respectfully deal with opposition in a healthy way? When is it legitimate to challenge and be challenged?

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
Join us for this intimate, candid and unexpected celebration of the gift of community.
This beautiful insight from Father Henri Nouwen encapsulates the mood of dynamic reciprocity shared during this online gathering:
“Community is the place where we discover each other's gifts and lift them up to celebrate them. We can say, “Look! This is beautiful. You have something that I want to receive from you. It's a gift that you carry with you and I want to lift it up. I want to be grateful for that gift. That's what community is about —to lift up each other's gift and recognize that these gifts are a reflection of God’s unconditional love.
I discover my beauty in the eyes of the receiver and so community is that we give and receive gifts to each other. You all are leaders from the point of view of your gifts and you all are followers from the point of view of other people's gifts. It's not like somebody has all the gifts and the rest is only there to receive it. A community is where we all are leaders because we have gifts to give and we all are followers because others have gifts to give to us that we need. And in that mutuality of giving and receiving, there's a community. There’s never a community where all the gifts are in one person's hands and all the rest are just followers. Life means to be someone who is willing to receive these gifts and make them visible to this larger community. That's what we are about and that's what our community is about. "
Celebrating birthdays and anniversaries on specific days throughout the year remind us of how we could, and should, and one day will, celebrate each other every day for the gifts we each carry and for those we are in need of.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
On this sacred occasion of Srila Prabhupada's disappearance, the series How to Rediscover Krishna in Our Lives emphasizes the pivotal role of sadhu-sanga in deepening our connection with Krishna. In the Bhakti tradition, it is understood that the path to truly knowing Krishna is illuminated through the association of sadhus. Even at the highest stages of prema, sadhu-sanga continues to be a central and profound expression of devotion.
Tune in to explore how to reconnect with the sadhu after their passing and reflect deeply on the question: Who is Srila Prabhupada for me now? Is he merely a historical figure from the past, or is he an active, guiding presence in my life today? Is my relationship with him vibrant and alive? We can learn to engage with him not as a distant memory or a "museum piece" but as a loving presence here and now.
This invites further contemplation: This extraordinary person transformed my life—how willing am I to continue transforming in his light? Who is Srila Prabhupada for me in my life today? And perhaps just as importantly, who am I for him today?

Join Swami Padmanabha and friends as they dive into the profound lessons of Krishna’s Govardhan Lila, with a focus on experiencing God’s omnipresence in the world around us. This class invites us to go beyond the “what” of Krishna’s pastimes and explore the “why,” uncovering how these lilas offer timeless wisdom that we can apply in our lives today. Far from being distant events, these lilas reveal ways for us to engage deeply with the moods of Krishna’s most devoted associates, the ragatmikas, inspiring us to become passionate participants rather than mere spectators. Through honest self-reflection and exploration, this session will help us find our place, here and now, in these sacred narratives and rekindle a personal, active connection with the Divine.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
Continuing with the theme of rediscovering Krishna in our lives, this presentation explores the Gaudiya tradition's invitation to encounter the divine within the immediacy of the world around us, envisioning it as a vast cosmic cathedral. While there can be extensive discourse on God, how familiar are we to the experience itself? There is profound value in beginning with what lies close at hand, cultivating reverence for the material world as a sacred outpouring of God’s joy, each atom an embassy of God.

50:43 How can we recognize the inner guru? How to harmonize differing instructions we may receive from our diksa and siksa gurus?
1:06:55 Regarding the offense of crying before the deity, how are we to understand this when it seems natural if we are vulnerable before the deity?

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
Part 2 of Rediscovering Krishna in My Life is a journey into deepening our relationship with God by learning to see Him in all things. Swami Padmanabha guides us to unlearn misconceptions about God, allowing us to approach spirituality with openness and wonder rather than fixed beliefs. Drawing from Srila B.R. Sridhar Maharaja’s teachings, the course emphasizes radical change, encouraging us to see Krishna everywhere and approach life as a dynamic, evolving experience. By releasing the comfort of certainty, we open ourselves to a vibrant, limitless faith where Krishna’s presence is alive in every moment and within our own potential.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
The following is a brief response to a recent letter from a prominent disciple of Srila Prabhupada, which claims that in his book Inherent or Inherited?, Swami Padmanabha stated:
"Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati, and Srila Prabhupada all taught apasiddhanta."
Considering the weight of this statement and the potential for confusion or concern among those who may take it at face value without reading the book or reaching out to Swami for clarification, he felt it necessary to offer this short explanation.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
This foundational class kicks off a 6-part journey designed to help us rediscover and renew our relationship with Krishna in a deeply personal and meaningful way. Together, we’ll explore how our unique individuality shapes this connection, inviting us to ask essential questions from wherever we are on our spiritual path: "Who is Krishna for me… here, now, today?" Is Krishna a theological concept, a religious figure, the most real of persons, or perhaps a projection rooted in past experiences? We’ll confront and transcend these projections—whether they arise from childhood trauma, social narratives, or inherited beliefs—to seek an authentic encounter with Krishna as he truly is, in all his fullness, in every moment. Join us as we open ourselves to experiencing Krishna beyond our conditioned perspectives, aiming for a deeper, more authentic relationship.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
0:00 Introduction: sadhu sanga, a gathering for Istagosthi, is rooted in the highest reach
10:00 How can we understand “our guru stands before us as our greatest potential” so that we do not think that reality as a mere copy/paste, as if I am meant to become them as opposed to being myself?
22:20 It seems like everyone is, in a sense, simultaneously a guru and a disciple, even “outside” of bhakti. Do you agree?
36:36 Reflection on the “momma duck and duckling example” in regard to raising individuated children and that extension to guru/disciple relationship
43:35 Regarding saving the life of Sri Radha-Krishna on a daily basis in lila, I had never thought of developing a relationship with Them as a couple and serving that relationship. I conceived that my relationship would be directly with Krishna. Thinking of serving Them as a couple rather than directly, seems more natural.
55:35 Reflection on how we are guru as in each interaction with everyone, we have the opportunity to teach them that they are lovable or not.
56:58 Giving and receiving in the “ordinary” moments
1:10:44 Do we over-idealized and over-emphasized the “moment of death”?
1:22:18 Regarding God being mystery not just to us, but also to himself. How do we harmonize that with Bhagavad-gita saying that God knows the past, present and future?

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
In this discussion, we explore the guru-disciple relationship both as a universal principle (guru is everywhere) as well as the localized agent—the guru as a servant of the disciple's faith and potential. The guru acts as a facilitator of the disciple's journey, accompanying them and listening with them to what Krishna wishes to reveal.
We also reflect on the dangers of over-expectation and over-idealization, not just from disciple to guru, but also from guru to disciple. Over-idealizing leads to dehumanization, where we either elevate or diminish someone beyond who they truly are, limiting their potential to fully express themselves.
Additionally, we examine how surrender, when misunderstood, can sometimes become a way of avoiding personal responsibility. Through practical examples and exercises, we dive deep into these dynamics of spiritual relationship between disciple and guru.

37:05 In regard to doing and being, it seems that there is also a doing that comes out of being. What does “being” include?
1:03:15 Reflection on the ongoingness of Sri Nama and japa.
1:20:43 If Brahman realization is valid, why do our acharyas speak of it as if it were an abomination?
1:34:20 If God is ever-evolving and becoming newer and newer, how do we keep up with that expansion?

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
The Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, one of the core scriptures for Vaiṣṇavas, describes reality as a manifestation of non-dual consciousness. While non-duality recognizes the oneness of all existence, it encompasses the personal aspect of the Divine as well.
vadanti tat tattva-vidas
tattvaṁ yaj jñānam advayam
brahmeti paramātmeti
bhagavān iti śabdyate
"Learned transcendentalists, who know the Absolute Truth, describe this non-dual reality as Brahman, Paramātmā, or Bhagavān."
There is often a misunderstanding that non-duality is synonymous with impersonalism. In an effort to avoid being "impersonal," we can inadvertently become dualists, dividing and fragmenting God and reality—even to the extent of approaching polytheism. Yet, reality—God—is inherently one. This understanding paves the way for genuine interfaith exchange and cross-pollination, where we can learn from other traditions and bring those insights back to enrich and nourish our own spiritual path.
Tune in as Swami Padmanabha explores nonduality as interconnectedness, as everything sharing a common center in relationality. In other words, everything has a potential for bondedness, and when we miss this potential, that is known as sin—or missing the mark.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
Radical Personalism is synonymous with being as personal as we can be. This refers not only to the fact that behind every aspect of existence there is ultimately a personalized expression, or to being as personal as we can in our relationships, or to attaining our ultimate spiritual identity in eternity. While all these aspects of Radical Personalism are certainly true and a crucial part of this equation, in the stage where most of us find ourselves there will be another facet of Radical Personalism, probably the most important to embrace as current practitioners. That is the facet of carving out our full humanity in a way that fosters a unique and divine sense of being, which we’ll call sacred transhumanism.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
0:00 Introduction
3:36 In a group setting, does our capacity to be vulnerable effect other group member’s ability to express vulnerability? How can we develop our vulnerability?
17:12 It is easy to be vulnerable while at home with one’s deity, but it’s pretty scary to be vulnerable when you step outside. How can we balance our need for safety with our need for vulnerability?
33:46 Reflection on the relationship between authenticity and vulnerability in satsanga. And how without these two qualities of being is asatsanga.
39:37 Reflection on how devotional service is transformational and not just a matter of doing the correct things in a “text book” fashion.
46:16 Reflection on our capacity to be vulnerable as well as to receive others in their vulnerability.
52:11 Relationship between vulnerability and creativity.
55:31 Relationship between vulnerability and humility. Although they are the same thing, humility can be weaponized, and become nothing more than exploitation of someone’s vulnerability.
1:05:25 How can we discern whether or not our experience is real or if it is “speculation” or “nonsense”? Can we trust ourselves or do we always have to rely an authority outside of ourselves?
1:18:07 Why is liminality painful?
1:22:24 Is the inner authority Caitya guru or intuition?

4:10 Considering Mahaprabhu in Nitya-Navadvipa, what is the puja seva mood for Gaura Nitai?
22:56 Does Nityananda ever relate to Mahaprabhu as Ananga manjari?
32:12 Reflection about nonduality and how both nonduality and difference are necessary
46:25 Regardless of the amount of endeavor I make in my sadhana, I am still not seeing any results. I find this frustrating and disappointed. I am looking for a breakthrough to a more personal experience of Krishna as a person. And I am seeing that others who are more serious than I am are also not experiencing much of a breakthrough either. So how to understand this?

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
0:00 Introduction
5:39 Where did we get the information that Radha’s month preceeds Krishna’s month. And what is the signficance
21:46 What is the right mindset when we experience something that could be considered neglect from a guru?
37:43 Regarding being more tolerant than a tree and humbler that a blade of grass, how are we meant to apply this? Is there a limit so that it remains healthy?
57.36 Verse 12 of Isopanisad states: Those who are engaged in the worship of demigods enter into the darkest region of ignorance, and still more so do the worshipers of the impersonal Absolute. This seems to contradict Krishna’s nature to reciprocate as people approach him. So how to understand this? .
1:13:43 Regarding offenses, compassion and forgiveness—if offenses are being committed by a person who has mental health issues, should there be unlimited compassion or are there proper boundaries to draw? And if so, how to determine them?

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
0:00 Introduction and Update on recent travels
15:00 We can witness that there are deep lover’s of God in other traditions, and we also hear that unless someone meets a pure devotee from a bonafide sampradaya, one cannot develop love of God. So how can we understand the deep love practitioners from other traditions develop? And in this context, what is a “pure devotee”?
36:54 Swami Padmanabha was asked what are some important questions that he himself has asked which have guided his journey?
55:13 If we are practicing bhakti, are we under the material energy, the spiritual energy, or both?
1:12 Points of Reflection: In order to unlearn things which no longer serve us and learn things that nourish us where we are now, we have to experience things through a different lens, and check in with ourselves how things that people say lands in us. This brings up the importance of authenticity in order to embody new ways of being.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
0:00 Intro
5:45 In Radical Personalism, one of the things that is said about the guru is that they are a facilitator of potential. I have an understanding of what that means as far as a counsellor or coach but what does that mean in relationship to the guru.
24:57 I don’t see that you are wearing tilak and I am wondering why.
30:59 What is the best way we can share radical personalism with others?
50:44 It seems like there isn’t much interfaith dialogue with Muslims and there are some parts of scripture that says disparaging things against Muslims, maybe even Islamophobia. I am wondering if you have noticed this? Are there similarities between our traditions.
1:00:30 How should we celebrate Radhastami? Is there a correct way to do so?

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
0:00 Introduction
5:15 How to harmonize the statement that “A blade of grass moves without the sanction of the Lord” with the concept that He does not interfer with the free will of the jiva?
31:40 How to balance our responsibility with Krishna’s will?
43:12 Does “advancement” in spiritual life include the healing of our human dysfunctions?
58:20 Like Jiva Goswami envisioned that “Krsnas tu bhagavan svayam,” as being the paribhasa sutra, a reality around which all other statements and descriptions of God should be understood, it seems that the zeitgeist is currently calling forth another emphasis — Krishna has unconditional love for every living being and everything else should be considered to that. There is never an end to the refinement of our understanding born from experience. Although self-love in bhakti is a "repeated" topic, it is none the less ever-fresh due to the speakers realizations since the last time he spoke on this, because we ourselves are not the same people we were before, and the hearts that are present draw out different things from the sensitive speaker.
Can we hear this message enough? Can we grow tired of the fact that we are a BELOVED of God?

0:00 How can we present bhakti yoga so that people can relate to it and don't think we are weird?
19:48 In your book, Radical Personalism, what did you mean by the disciple should surrender proportionately to the guru's surrender?
43:47 We hear that Srivasa Acharya told Mahaprabhu that if he is not maintained by the Lord and goes without food for two days, on the third day he would throw himself in the Ganga. What do we do with that statement? Is it ok to endeavor for simple things like food and shelter?
1:00:50 We hear that love moves like a snake. I am trying to understand the snake-like exchange of when the gopis say all kinds of criticisms against Krishna while he is present, but then totally lament when he goes away. That doesn't seem very nice.

How might process thought and Hindu traditions be in relationship?
In his video, “Evolution and Vedanta,” Swami Padmanabha talks about God or Love as the ultimate supreme reality, and how God along with all realities is dynamic, ever-evolving, and growing. Reality is not made up of fixed, changeless substances; rather, it is marked by what he calls “deep evolution” – a sacred evolution at the very depths of reality.
In this conversation, Dr. Jeffery Long, a practitioner and theologian in the Vedanta tradition of Sri Ramakrishna as well as a scholar of process philosophy and Asian studies, and Swami Padmanabha, a leader and teacher in the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism, will share their thoughts on resonances between their two Hindu traditions and process thought.
They’ll explore such areas as:
• The dynamic nature of God and reality
• Texts and tradition as “ever fresh,” especially in Vaishnava traditions and the tradition of Sri Ramakrishna
• Human purpose, consciousness, and “radical personalism”
• Astonishment and surrender; divine will, human choice, and grace

44:25 It is said in the Srimad Bhagavatam that we first enter material life as Brahma and then degrade to a worm. So if Brahma is engaging in service, and service is preserved, then how can we devolve to a worm?
1:00:00 What does it mean that our guru takes our karma and some will say that they get sick because of it?
1:12:41 How do we reconcile the importance of sadhana but not equate it with performance thinking “When I do this many things and I feel closer to God” and when I don’t, then I am not close.

00:00 Swami Padmanabha invites us to the experience of Tadatmya, reminding us that we are of all one family, integrated into a whole and sacred circle with Bhagavan in the center, the axis and center of reality..
3:49 In the last class of your recent 4-part lecture series on Evolution in Divine Love: The Eternal Becoming of Soul, Matter and God, you referred to sadhana-bhakti as a rehearsal for bhava/prema bhakti. Would you please elaborate on this?
24:05 How important is belief in God for spiritual advancement? Can one advance spiritually without having an affirmative theistic belief in God? Do we suspend our belief to accept what guru, sastra and sadhu say before we experience it? How important is it that what we are told is objectively true or is subjectively accepting something as good good enough?

Renunciation is not the ultimate goal of bhakti, just as exploitation is not. However, many practitioners do not approach their practice with this understanding. Distorted views of both family and monastic life have unfortunately become the accepted norm, leading to unchecked, uncurbed, and unresolved negative effects.
Swami Padmanabha offers a fresh perspective, illuminating the positive role of family life within the path of bhakti.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
In this class, Swami Padmanabha explores the concept of wholeness within bhakti, emphasizing the recognition that reality, and everything emanating from that reality, is inherently whole and complete where everything belongs. This journey involves the harmonious integration of our humanity and spirituality. Contrary to the common notion that we are human beings seeking a spiritual experience, Swami Padmanabha points out that we are spiritual beings navigating a human experience, though our humanity may often feel fragmented.
Neglecting our human aspects in favor of spirituality can lead to various forms of dysfunction. Bhakti necessitates a balanced approach where both humanity and spirituality are intertwined in coexistence. Embracing our human side, with all its vulnerabilities, brokenness, and fears, is an essential part of the spiritual path. Despite the messiness of our human condition, it is crucial to understand that God loves and accepts us fully as we are. Our struggle to fit in can be eased by the understanding that we are already accepted. Because we are loved, we are lovable and therefore able to love.
This foundational understanding is vital as we embark on our journey toward a deeper love for God. We are guided to acknowledge and integrate all aspects of ourselves, fostering a more holistic and fulfilling spiritual practice.

Indeed, the desires no longer fructify in the form of gross bodies. Instead, the stockpile of desires becomes visible on the mental platform by the grace of the Supreme Personality Godhead.” Can you explain what is meant by “becomes visible in the mind”?

Jaya Jagannatha invites us to reflect on the major turning points in our life's journey. These moments often share common elements and a similar flow. We begin in a state of status quo, which is then disrupted, prompting us to seek answers to pressing questions. Along the way, we encounter a mystagogue—either a person or an event—that provides us with the gifts and insights needed to conclude our quest. We then return to a new status quo, with a transformed perception of ourselves and our relationships with the world, others, and the divine.
This session is experiential. In honoring sacred space, which fosters vulnerability, the recording stops when participants begin to share. You are invited to embark on your own journey and explore your life through the lens crafted by Jaya Jagannatha in this session.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
In celebration of the manifestation of Sri Radha-Ramana, Swami Padmanabha's talk delves into the profound relationship between matter and divinity. In this second part of his series on how matter can reveal God, Swami Padmanabha examines how a devotee’s love gives form to the Lord and emphasizes His omnipresence. Drawing on Prahlada Maharaja’s teachings, he challenges the misconception that material nature is profane or something to be despised. If God is everywhere, then material nature cannot be inherently bad. This misconception leads to further erroneous beliefs: that material energy, the world, the earth, the human body, family life, and sex life are all negative. By addressing and healing this fundamental misunderstanding, we can correct these associated misconceptions and live a balanced Vaishnava lifestyle, engaging with our bodies and our humanity in a wholesome and spiritually integrated manner.

Join Swami Padmanabha and friends in Michigan as they delve into the profound truths celebrated through the appearance of Sri Narasingha. This class explores themes such as God's full reciprocation and identification with His devotees, the assurance that no one falls from Vaikuntha, Bhagavan's chivalry, Prahlad's unwavering fearlessness and the Lord's complete protection of him and all devotees, and how God dismantles our false sense of separateness and the defense mechanisms stemming from it. Other topics include the triumph of good over evil and the revelation of God through matter. A particular focus is given to the latter: how matter can facilitate the manifestation of the Supreme and how we can perceive the Divine presence through His maya shakti.
This session emphasizes the need to reclaim and redeem our relationship with material energy. Often perceived as separate from the "spiritual," this disconnect has led to misconceptions that distort our spiritual practices, diverting us from the path of love of God.

00:00 Swami Padmanabha welcomes questions as a blessing—where Krishna, the Sweet Absolute, is blessing both the speaker and the inquirer. And we should expect something transformative to come from that sacred event. Maharaja also invites us to approach Ekadasi, which occurs tomorrow in the Eastern US, as a way to step outside of our routine and into sacred disruption, allowing ourselves to enter liminal space water we can be taken by surprise by Krishna’s presence. We can create some kind of ritual to mark the day as something extraordinary, which every day is, but we need to be reminded of that and that is what these special observances are for.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
In this last session of a 3-part series on self-love in bhakti, learning how to relate to ourselves, Swami Padmanabha contextualizes self-love in God’s unconditional love.
To accept deeply that Krishna already loves us—that his love does not and cannot be earned by some meritorious deed—is a healthy motivating factor in our bhakti practice. We need not be driven by fear, or guilt, or the pressure to perform to try to make god like us, but rather we can move out of a desire to reciprocate with what is already coming. And in the context of that reciprocation, we also love what is in connection to him. And that everything, including us—that is self-love in bhakti. If we really want to love Krishna, we will learn to love ourselves.
But who are we? Do we have an identity beyond our human doings and our human havings?
In this session, we are invited to explore the certainty of god’s love that resolves all uncertainties in its context, aligns brokenness under blessings, and retires fears by its strength. Learning to see ourselves as god sees us, we are invited to inhabit his reality and be who we already are —“I am someone who is loved by Krishna. I am god’s beloved.” And THAT is AMAZING.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
“Of all types of knowledge, I am knowledge of the soul. I am fully present in those moments when you grasp completely who you are, with all of that’s implications,” Krishna explains in the Gita. Self-love is one of those implications of knowing what the soul is.
In this 2nd of a 3-part series on self-love in bhakti, Swami Padmanabha grounds our sense of self in the foundational knowledge of the self, the truth of the soul, atma-tattva, which Krishna can say is no less than “Amazing…amazing…amazing.” And he loves that amazingness.
This series digs deep to the foundational truths upon which our bhakti temple is built. If our foundation is skewed, whatever is built upon it will be increasingly off balance, and eventually, the structure will collapse. This is true with our conceptions, as well as buildings. If our foundation of bhakti contains a dysfunctional relationship with our own being, a misunderstanding of who we are, of how Krishna sees us, then every other step in our journey after that—how we relate to others, to the world, to Krishna—will also contain elements of that dysfunction.
Tune-in as we hear who we are in God’s eyes; how considering ourselves disconnected and separated is the source of all illusion; and how self-love is part of relating wholesomely to everything that is connected to the center of nondual reality—to the heart of god—so that means everything.
And still…. the inner voices of self-loathing come: I’m despicable, not enough, unlovable, stupid, ugly, unworthy, cursed…And it is this self-loathing, self-denial, self-rejection is the very opposite of reality, of God’s reality. For him, we are shockingly amazing.

And what can happen when multiple potentialities combine with each other under the banner of TADATMYA: empathy, openness and relationality? Istagosthi is the online laboratory to explore this.

0:00 Swami Padmanabha powerfully reflects on the importance of the reality “There is only one family” and on that basis coming together, talking and thinking about what our contribution is in this time; what is necessary in this particular moment that we can respond to; coming together and looking at each other’s faces…in each other’s eyes, and being as close as we can be—allowing each other to have a voice, furthering our appreciation for the depth of the reality that there is only one family in which we all already belong; everything is connected.

00:51:58 Sometimes we hear from speakers, as well as from scriptures, that the devotee is more merciful than god. Is it necessary and appropriate to see such a distinction since it seems to insecurity by undermining Krishna’s ability to be an ocean of mercy? Why not forget about Krishna and just go to the devotee?
01:16:52 Does a teacher or guru adjust their answers according to the student’s ability to grasp the answer in a way that nourishes their faith?

03:48 How can we have an experience of the stories of lila in a real way and not artificially like when watching a fiction movie?
18:58 Do we take our personality with us into transcendence?
38:20 How can we harmonize that on one hand Krishna says that even if a devotee commits an abominable act they are still rightfully situated with Mahaprabhu’s apparent over-reactive condemnation of Chota Haridasa?
01:02:06 What does it means to go deep into basic topics rather than remain on the surface of deep topics?

Of all the infinite and unlimited forms of God, which are each unlimited in themselves, the fullest face of the Absolute is Sri Krishna in the forests of Vraja. It is there that everything is in place for him to relish the full moon of rasa in the fullness of his divinely human form. And yet, it is in the densest moments of the churned hearts of Vraja-lila where he finds himself bereft of yet a fuller love, one he himself has not yet tasted. The necessity of love to be ever fuller called forth Gaurahari in response. The celebration of Sri Gaura Purnima is the celebration of the unlimited reach of love in the unlimited life of God.

Join Swami Padmanabha and Dhira Govinda dasa as they team up to share insights into the source of healing and wholeness—God’s unconditional love—each from their own perspectives and experiences.
In this time of our collective history, we are experiencing a crisis of meaning and purposelessness. This has lead to an epidemic of feeling worthless, and, in response has called to the forefront our need to recognize our inherent value as the beloved of God. “Darshan," commonly thought of as referring to seeing God, is more accurately understood as being seen by God, and is an invitation to vulnerability and acceptance, allowing oneself to be loved despite imperfections. Ultimately, genuine love is unconditional and unlimited, and understanding oneself in the light of God's love is pivotal for spiritual growth and wholeness.

0:00 Introduction and invitation to Swami Padmanabha’s upcoming classes in Alachua which are all pointing in the direction of the zenith of tadatmya, Sri Gaurahari.
4:49 We have a tendency to think that our humanity has nothing to do with our spiritual life. Please contextualize Srila Jiva Goswami’s explanation of svarupa-siddhi bhakti so we can begin to accept these words and see everything as being a part of service to Krishna.
26:31 How does the fact that any one of the 9 practices of bhakti can lead to perfection relate to the knowledge that Mahaprabhu came to give kirtanam exclusively?
52:17 What does it mean to be sincere? How does sincerity manifest?
1:13:30 Accepting that our humanity needs to be in place in order to apply ourselves more fully in bhakti, what is that level and how do we know that we have reached there?

Join Swami Padmanabha and friends in Alachua, FL, as the celebratory momentum starts to build toward an overflowing crescendo on Gaura purnima to which we are invited to continues in a perpetual uninterrupted current of kirtaniya.
Today’s talk broadens the reach of TADATMYA, mystical empathy, as a defining principle of all loving relationships—the willingness to connect with another’s experience be it with our peers, between disciple and guru/sadhus; between us and Krishna; and the highest reach—between god and god. Mahaprabhu is that highest reach, the zenith of TADATMYA, as Krishna seeks to completely experience and communion with the heart of Sri Radha.
Swami expands the form of tadatmya in each of the above mentioned relationships.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
Join in the conversation amongst pilgrims who share the same journey—coming together and opening their hearts in trust, bringing forth relevant concerns in an attempt to deepen one’s personal approach to a balanced humanity and spirituality, and to grow together and nourish each other in the context of developing love of God. This is the purpose of Istagosthi—in a safe environment, we are invited to share our concerns and questions in service to authenticity, honesty and truth.
The first question that is offered in this Istagoshti is about how to keep ancient practices relevant for people in the larger society. In reflection, Swami poses that before we ask that question, we need to ask, and answer, how do we make the teachings relevant in our own lives?
Additionally, we can keep every thing fresh, new and relevant by keeping astonishment alive and not succumbing to certitude—thinking that we already know the totality of devotional concepts. The nature of Krishna consciousness is that it is continually unfolding and ever-evolving; it is not static. therefore, a mystic—an alive practitioner—is meant to keep pace with transcendence and that involves intelligently integrating and upgrading our approach to the principles of a particular tradition in such a way that makes us sensitive to and empathetic with the particular struggles of our current society. In this way, we will be able to “translate” the ancient teachings into not just the language of the times, but into the mindset of the times, and make sense of our world through the philosophy.
Join in the circle of conversation as this and other concerns are addressed.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
As with all things, it is not the thing itself that carves our experience of reality, but rather how we approach those things. Rules and regulations can be confining and restrictive, as well as empowering and liberating. As we mature, we are invited to go beyond the letter of the law, which at one time was as deep as we could go, to a deeper understanding to the intent and purpose of the rules we have adopted as our rule of life. i
Swami Padmanabha and friends discuss some ruling principles which are promoted in contemporary Vaishnava communities, offering different perspectives and a deep reach of these principles giving rise to freedom in our spiritual practice.
Since freedom is a pivotal point in all aspects of spirituality, we must approach rules in such a way that they facilitate freedom.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
Criticism is not, per se, something necessarily offensive. In fact, friendly criticism is an absolutely crucial component for any mature conversation—and relationship—to exist and evolve. Unfortunately, some Gaudiya representatives tend to weaponize concepts like aparadha (offense) and even demonize any form of critique as something to be avoided at all costs. Instead, we should learn the art of constructive criticism, through which we offer and receive advice and perspective in the spirit of selfless service. We call this Radical Remark. —Quote from RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion
Listen in as Swami Padmanabha shares his observations of the contemporary Gaudiya community in regard to constructive criticism. When offered in a compassionate and committed way, criticism can be a form of affection which inspires growth and change.
Noting the dangers that can arise if healthy criticism is not welcomed in a community and is actualy seen as something bad, or when criticism is not offered in a healthy way, out of compassion and care, but rather in an exploitative or manipulative way, Swami shares a 4-step process of compassionate criticism:
1) be introspective and discern that what one is seeing in another person isn’t actually a projection of one’s own fault, being willing to acknowledge and address that within oneself
2) be appreciative of the good qualities of the other person, making an exhaustive list of the positive values already present within that person
3) be introspective and make sure that the criticism shared is done so with the intention of helping the other person
4) commit to fully supporting the other person so that they can succeed in the desired transformation.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
Join Swami Padmanabha as he and friends speak about WHOLENESS, one of the “radicals” highlighted in Swami’s book, RADICAL PERSONSONALISM. In relation to radical personalism, wholeness refers to having an integrated humanity and holiness, where nothing needs to be rejected but rather everything can be put into its proper place, approached and understood in a way that facilitates the fleshing out of our highest ideals and potential reach.
Integrating things which don’t “fit” into our conceptual framework or with which there is some dissonance, is no easy task. It is often easier to avoid or evade addressing things and simply reject, stigmatize, and criticize rather than acquire the proper perspective so that everything can belong.
Tune-in to this class as Swami explores the reality that makes living in Wholeness tangible.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
Join Swami Padmanabha and friends on a thought-provoking journey as they delve into the far-reaching consequences and implications associated not only with our conception of God, but also with what we do with that conception. For instance, although the goal of our practice is love of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, we can remain very impersonal in our relationship with the Divine, our selves, each other and the world—and even in the name of personalism.
Do we act as if we believed that God is the Sweet Absolute, the friend to all? Or do we overlay our unresolved traumas and misconceptions over that and end up fearing him; fearing that he will withdraw his love or punish us in some way if we aren’t “good,” that we will be punished and pushed away by him for our imperfections in spite of our sincerity? Do we pray as if he is not already knowing us; as if he is not already taking care of us; as if he is not already loving us. How does certainty of our conceptions add a layer of complexity to opening our hearts to the way Krishna shows up as our life.
You are invited to explore these and other vital considerations, not in a mood of condemning or blaming, but with enthusiasm to sincerely reflect and be introspective so we can make the necessary adjustments in our angle of vision and grow toward our fullest potential— beginning with the awareness of our conceptions, how they shape our world, and then how to become free from the limiting effects we create.

Celebrating the disappearance of great personalities offers very unique opportunities to deepen our relationships with them and develop a very special and relishable kind of union—one that is found in separation only.
Each of the Six Goswamis had a very unique contribution to the creation of the sampradaya, being the empowered masterminds capable of taking the enormity and power of Mahaprabhu’s gifts and making them accessible to a wider group of recipients. We are here today because of their contributions. As the Tattva-acarya of the Gaudiya Sampradaya, Jiva Goswami was responsible for establishing the philosophical foundation of the Sampradaya.

RADICAL PERSONALISM: Revival Manifesto for Proactive Devotion.
Join Swami Padmanabha and his friends in New Zealand as he speaks about life’s evolution into its potential which can be constricted and thwarted by certainty, tribal or institutional concerns of fitting-in rather than belonging. Sometimes when we become complacent or stagnant, a catastrophe comes knocking on our door to shake us out of the concrete we have embedded ourselves in. This does not come as a punishment but as a gift, grace, in response to our desire for a relationship with God. He removes things from our life to make room to receive God’s presence more deeply—to develop deep trust and faith in God’s dancing in our life and to acknowledge and accept his invitation to that dance. We have to trust that he is doing his part, and we have to do ours. And our part is to commit to our potential; not what we are now but what we can be in our fullest relation to each other, the world, and the center to all relation—God.
