Join Brock, Tyler and I as we dive joke about the last time we all tried doing a podcast together around the release of Tyler's solo ep, but it was just a drunken mess that was never released. We discuss how that was the impetus for Brock and Tyler to want to write more music together and the journey they went on to create Paradise Slaves.
The guys share how it was finding the rest of the guys to round out the band, the importance of being friends more so than just being a great player, as well as some funny stories from their first show.
We also touch on how it's been to navigate being a new band decades into a career, adapting to playing in arenas for some of the bands first shows and more in this chat with Brock and Tyler.

Join Justin and I as we.....well honestly I spend a lot of this quick chat gushing over the bands latest album, The Program.
Justin talks about the song writing process for the band, how he approaches writing lyrics that REALLY line up with what the band is doing musically.
Justin shares his journey as a musician, from getting into the business as a kid and "throwing away" his opportunity at stardom to pursue a style of music he was more passionate about. How that success feels knowing it's earned versus bought or manufactured.
We get into some genres of music Justin would like to potentially tap into in the future and more in this quick chat with the BRKN LOVE guitarist and front man.

Join Dwid and I as we cover a broad spectrum of topics like how it feels to have his lyrics from the 80’s still being relevant in 2025.
We also get into growing up in the Midwest and how a lack of having much to do really helped inspire the creativity of him and his bandmates to forge their own sound. We reflect on how hard it was for them to really break through in the various heavier scenes.
We get into what led to Dwid moving to Belgium in the early 2000s, and how that was given the global climate post 9/11. How it's been for him to see things going on here in the states living abroad, and some of the challenges that presents when the band has to tour or write records.
We get into this and MUCH more in this chat with the Integrity frontman.

Join Kris and I as we catch up from our last chat where Kris shares that he has since deleted all of his social media in the last few years. We get into how that has been for his personal and professional life, as well as the decision to step away from being a barber.
We also discuss learning to become a fan of things again, reconnecting with the live show experience and finding new ways through old songs as we get older.
Kris talks about how this approach really opened up his songwriting process on the bands upcoming album, Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience. How this album was a lot more collaborative than albums past, the idea of patience being something that can be haunting as well as necessary for growth.
We get into some HIM talk, our favorite pizza spots in Chicago and more in this chat with the Bury Tomorrow guitarist.

Join Lee and I as we catch up with him while the band was in the midst of their tour.
Lee and I share some pleasantries from mutual friends of ours, and get into an interview he had done on Good Company with Bowling a few years prior and how I realized that the songs he was working on at the time were what would become "Welcome To Suffocate City".
We get into how there was an obvious shift in how Lee and the rest of the band were taking their careers at that point, how that process was being on a developmental deal at the time when a lot of their contemporaries were being dropped and sticking to their guns in seeing their vision through.
Lee also shares how impactful coming up in Atlanta was for the band in crafting a sound that is just as much a melting pot of influences as the city itself, as well as offering ample opportunities for him to learn the ins and outs of the music industry from working at local venues, touring with other bands as a Tour Manager, driver doing whatever it took to realize the dream of making music his career.
We get into working with Spencer from Ice Nine Kills and more in this quick chat with The Funeral Portrait frontman.

Join John and I as we kick things off discussing how intentional the release date of the bands upcoming release, Wraith and Ruin coming out March 14th via Napalm Records, was.
From there we take a bit of a deep dive into the lyrical content of the album, how a lot of it touches on things that continuously happen over the course of our existence, but we seemingly don't learn from our past mistakes.
John talks about the struggles of putting out one of the groups most acclaimed albums and feeling that the band was on the verge of something big, only to have the pandemic take it all away, and how that really drove him to really up the ante lyrically on this album. All that and more in our chat with the Warbringer vocalist.

Join Nick and I as we catch up for the first time in a few years.
Nick and I reminisce about the tour I had booked for his old band, Que Sera. How it was for him to put that band to rest after many years and starting to see some success before the end.
Nick shares how it was for him to step out on his own and becoming a hired gun for a more pop leaning artist, as well as adjusting to life out on the West Coast being from an East Coaster most of his life.
We also get into how Nick ended up joining The Dark, some of the challenges he's faced switching over to bass from guitar, as well as the joy of playing something with a little more aggression. What the band has in store for the rest of this year and more.

Join Sergio and I as we talk about how its been finding himself while working with 3 bands. Sergio discusses how he's really honed in on being of service to not only the other musicians he's collaborating with but to the song itself. We get into where Sergio's sense of style and live show comes from.
We dive into the journey he and Eidola have been on over the last 3 releases, culminating in a double album that went from the bands heaviest, Eviscerate, to the bands lightest, Mend. We talk about how that process was for Sergio, admittedly not being into the heavier side of things, but how that allowed him to really express himself on Mend. We get into what the future holds for the band and where Sergio thinks it could go.
Sergio also talks about how he got involved with Blue Swan Records from the label side of things, and how it has been for him learning the ins and outs or working for and help run a label. Some of the early challenges he faced, and taking a moment to reflect on the successes along the way.

Join Brendan and I as we talk about him completing Elden Ring and the journey of spending that much time completing something and not being sure if you’re happy it’s over nor if you even enjoyed it due to how long you spent immersed in it.
We then talk about the process of making their latest EP, which in contrast to the video game took significantly less time to complete, and how intentional the band had to be with their decisions given they didn’t have much time to get everything done to be released when they wanted to.
We also get into how this feels like a turning point for the band, not only sonically but with the touring and everything the band is doing, and what has led to the shift in the band becoming a bit more goal oriented and taking risks this far into their career.
We also talk about vasectomies, border crossings and the idea of legacies in this chat with the Counterparts vocalist.

Join Danny, Dave and I as we discuss the second edition of their book, "Perpetual Conversion" which tells Danny's career in the heavy/extreme sides of the music industry.
We discuss Danny's time in bands more rooted in thrash like Anthrax and Stormtroopers of Death, through his sonic journey of pushing boundaries in faster, more "extreme", bands like Nuclear Assault and Brutal Truth and how this book really puts you at the forefront of these burgeoning scenes in metal through the lens of Danny's stories and Dave tracking down fellow artists playing alongside or inspired by these bands to offer a first hand account of the impact this music was having on the music world.
We also talk about the process of writing this book and how the experience was for each of them. For Dave how it allowed him to fill in some of the gaps of a scene he wasn't as versed with, and how he went about putting everything together. For Danny how it was to look back on this decades long career making music, and seeing all the lives he's touched with his music and the nice things friends and colleagues had to say about him.

This is a bit of a different episode for me. This was born from a friend showing me LLNN's album, "Unmaker", and becoming OBSESSED with it.
Initially this was an album I was getting into heavy going back to the gym, but couldn't shake the hold it had over me and the feelings it would evoke out of me. Feelings of anger and despair and hopelessness.
What I didn't anticipate was my foot injury that led to having surgery and being laid up a few months later, and in the darkness of sitting in my bed late at night I'd listen to this album more and I eventually came to this realization that sometimes we need to wallow in something to really help us process our emotions and work our way out of these negative feelings.
This is my chat with the bands new vocalist/guitarist Victor, where we dive into some of these emotions that the bands music brings out. We get into how Victor joined the band, how it was for him to find his way into music that he didn't necessarily have a hand in creating but understanding its impact.
Victor also shares what it was like growing up in Denmark and how he first got into playing music, some of his early influences as well as talking about the small scene that he and others were building.
We talk about what's in store for LLNN in the new year, touring stateside and more.

We also talk a bit about how Robby and Vicky have taken what they've learned from their other bands and time in the industry and how they are using that to make more informed decisions with what the band is trying to accomplish in the future.

Jack also shares some of the struggles the band endured coming up the ranks and how it has been to gain some traction with the new singles/videos and seeing the growth nightly on tour.
We explore an idea I had for the band to celebrate the release of record and more in this chat with the 156/Silence frontman.

Scott also reflects on 25 years of putting on the festival, seeing his friends bands becoming some of the biggest names in metal and hardcore, and early memories of booking some of these legendary bands first few shows/tours.
Scott and I discuss some bands we'd like to see reunite for next years lineup, *cough* Blood Has Been Shed *cough* and more in this chat with the festival founder.

Join Jordan and I as we catch up with Jordan after his last appearance on the podcast, and really tackle some of the bigger questions like does Whitney Houston really have as many hits as people claim she does?
Jordan and I open up about our individual journeys through therapy and even some non traditional ways that have allowed us to find healing through past traumas and how they inform us moving forward.
Jordan opens up a bit about the struggles he endured at the end of Every Time I Die's tenure, the betrayal he felt from people who leaked his texts and emails, and how he's reconciled that.
We talk Better Lovers and the very apparent camaraderie the band has so quickly with one another. What's in store for the band moving forward and more in this 2 hour chat with the Better Lovers guitarist.

Join Eyal and I as we talk about the new intensive course that he and his team dropped with Jens Bogren and Ihsahn covering the entire process of how Jens record. We talk about the "small" 3 hours worth of content I was able to see, how even in that there was SO MUCH to learn about how songs still come down to a feeling. Taking the time to hone your craft, and making these kinds of things accessible to others who want to learn how to become a producer.
Eyal and I discuss if there's every been a consideration into expanding into other genres of music, the process it takes to land all of these guests/bands/songs, as well as becoming an ancillary avenue for people to find out about new bands. Eyal shares the balance of showcasing new and up coming bands and established ones that will keep people interested.
We also touch on the gatekeeping way of metal fans, how that's found it's way at times into the nail the mix crowd with some of the bands they've featured. If there are any bucket list bands he'd love to feature in the future and much more in this chat.

Join Ken and I as we catch up from the last time he was on the podcast. We get into how he received death threats from his last appearance on this show. How scary it's become in this day and age where people can anonymously throw accusations out there that can put your career in jeopardy without any validity to those claims.
Ken opens up about how it's been joining As I Lay Dying, how quickly all the guys have gelled both onstage and off. How it was for Ken to start to step away from Unearth a band he started 20+ years ago, and how he found it to be to start anew with AILD, and finding his place in it.
We also get into Ken's tireless work ethic, not just as a musician, but in his work with Fishman and his reality business. Not having to do anythig solely for the paycheck, and how that has allowed him the freedom to pursue anything he's passionate about and more in this 2 hour chat.

Join Andrew and I for this lengthy chat as we get into the weeds on physical health journeys. I open up about deciding to lose some weight, and how that has been for me, while Andrew shares his experience with getting in shape, and becoming a personal trainer and working out while on the road. The benefits beyond physical health, but our mental health as well.
Andrew shares where he's at with the double record they've been working on, how he's been on a creative tear also working on new DGD stuff as well as possibly some solo material.
We talk about my recent trip out to UT and specifically Salt Lake City where Andrew is from/lives and how it's been growing up there and what I noticed in my brief visit there and a whole lot more in this 2 hour chat with one of my favorite people.

Episode 400 is here and it's with Vin Rock of the legendary, Grammy winning, Naughty By Nature!!
Vinnie joins me to discuss 30 years of 19NaughtyIII, what the album did for the group. We look back on the celebration of hip hop the Grammy's had aired the night before when we recorded this, and what it was like for the group to be one of the first awarded a Grammy for hip hop, and how they shouted out their producer, DJ Kay Gee, and called him a "super producer" before the phrase would really find its prominence decade or so later.
We also get into the groups iconic logo and branding, and how that set them apart from their peers, how ahead of the times they were creating a brand and how other companies wanted to use their success for their own profit. Vin also discusses the importance of knowing your worth, and sticking to your guns, and how he has navigated the ever changing music industry.
Vin also discusses his latest project, Next By Nature, a collaboration with Next, Dj Kay Gee, and himself and more in this chat with the iconic rapper.

Join Landon and I as we chat before a home state show here in Michigan. We get into the bands viral moment of "Feel Nothing" blowing up on Tik
Tok. How it has been for the band to have a single from a previous record react like that, and what it's like behind the scenes from the band, label, management side of things goes when a moment like this happens.
We also get into how Landon dealt with the pandemic, and how it really afford the band some much needed time off from everything. Landon discusses how close they were to calling it a day, what he learned about himself in that time, and how it has informed how he and the band proceed with things moving forward.
Landon talks about bringing back some older songs on this tour, and how it has been to go back and look at the bands previous output and compare the inspirations for those songs to where he is now. If there is a bit more freedom with youth when it comes to expressing yourself versus getting older and realizing the weight of what you say and other musical endeavors he'd like to branch out into and more in this quick chat with The Plot In You vocalist.

Join Jyrki 69 and I as we dive right into discussing the bands latest album, Death Of Darkness, and how this feels like a bit of a reenergized version of the band firing on all cylinders. We also talk about how rare it is to be 3 decades into the bands career and how they've had no line up changes in that time, and how that has allowed the band to grow creatively over that time.
We also touch on how Jyrki's lyrics are possibly not given their due, given the fact that he's long been talking about social/political commentary albeit through a pop culture sense and if that bothers the singer. I also share with Jyrki how he and Ville Valo's solo record were the two records that reignited my being excited about listening to new music again, and how Death Of Darkness as an idea was something we both found our ways through.

Join Adam "Shmeeans" Smirnoff, guitarist for legendary funk band Lettuce as we catch up for a quick chat on the first day of the bands tour. We talk about the bus problems the band experienced over night, and which thankfully weren't too serious to cause any issues.
We start off talking about street teams after I saw one of the bands fans talking about it online, and what street teams have become now. Adam shares his thoughts on the beauty of me going to old house parties and seeing random musicians/bands jamming and how cool it is to see those moments, if anyone had recorded them, years and years later to see how a band and theirs songs have changed over the years.
We get into a bit of the growth we experience by stepping out of our comfort zones, and Adam looking back on 30 years of playing with Lettuce and more in this quick chat.

Rick shares how he ended up getting into tattooing, which isn't too dissimilar to how he ended up back in the band. Rick also shares a rather profound way with how he handles some of the stress that can come from tattooing people, and he tries to apply that to other facets of his life.
We get into a bit about his love of Magic: The Gathering, and how as we get older we just really are rebuying our youth, or things that bring us happiness in general, but also knowing when that happiness is gone and moving on.

We get into some of the lyrical themes of the singles that have come out so far, Fox wanting to go further with his lyrics and vocal approach. We also get into Fox learning to work on himself around the pandemic, how he got really into hiking and camping and removing himself from the busyness of the world around him. How being entrenched with nature pushed him to pursue photography and painting landscapes.
Fox also teases another band of his coming back, my comparison of how Intervals was SYNT's "Shape of Punk to come" and more.

Join Tucker and I as we talk about AZ, where Tucker was on tour that day, our experiences visiting the state, and how it along with other pockets of the US are starting to become hot beds for great shows, and if that's due to better promoters who want more for their scene, or bands/fans finally coming together to support live music in their area?
We also talk about 20+ years of Thursday's career, memories surrounding the release of War All The Time, the impact that had on the scene as well as the youth facing the uncertainty of adulthood after 9/11. We also touch on Tucker finding himself once Thursday had disbanded, what it's been like since the band reunited.
Tucker talks about his new project, LS Dunes, how that started, expanding on friendships he'd had with everyone else to now being bandmates. The importance of trusting your gut and not overthinking things and more in this chat with the Thursday percussionist.

Join Alex and I as we chat before he literally has to finish packing and catch a plane for Despised Icon's European Tour. We talk about aging technology and how a lot of times there's nothing really wrong with the old thing, we just tend to move on. That led way to discussing how bands now a days have the tools and resources to learn how to be better musicians than Alex and others of our age had to figure it out through trial and error.
We talk about the beginnings of the Deathcore genre, how the Despised Icon guys were one of the first to start using the term, and printing it on merch, but not THE first to coin the phrase, and how it was trying to get on tours when you're not really shown love in either of the scenes you're putting together for not being enough of one or the other.
We also talk about Alex's transition in life to working in the hospitality field and how he's found success doing that and much more in this chat with the Despised Icon frontman.

We also get into being an old soul, how we think that might just come from being comfortable with ourselves as we've gotten older, how that has translated over to his career of not really fitting in any one place, but fitting in wherever the band is and finding success through the bands work ethic.
Tyler also talks about owning his own label, how he and his wife were pen pals before getting married and how they've traversed their relationship with both being touring musicians and more in this conversation.

Deron Miller returns as the guest on the podcast. We talk about the literal meaning behind the bands upcoming album, Synergy Restored, and the journey it took to get this album out. I reflect on that with Deron from the last time he was on the show a few years ago when this was still an "in the works" album.
We talk about being true to yourself, the music industry now versus 20 plus years ago when CKY were at the height of their popularity, why Metallica didn't need the exposure from Stranger Things. Why Deron believes that more of our youth needs to get into rock/metal, and what he hopes for the genre moving forward.
We also talk about what it's been like for Deron to see the youth of today through his teenage kids. We then get into the weeds of the music business, and I blow Deron's mind with how much Naughty By Nature wanted to play a show and so much more in this chat.

Austin joins us to catch up from the last time he was on the show, which is interesting since he was recording the album that is about to come out now.
We talk about living the best of both lives of a musician where he gets to write and record while still also touring a bunch, and how not normal that is within the business. Austin reveals how he went about writing this new album from a lyrical perspective, the fun of word play within lyric writing and touring some legends like ZZ Top and finding the middle ground of playing an opening slot for 30 mins versus getting to play a 2 hour headline set.
Austin also dives into the trilogy of music videos he released and telling a story between them all, if he ever wants to get into directing/acting himself as well as how he makes songs with lines that are "shirt worthy" and much more in this chat.

We also get into some deeper talking points about traveling and getting to experience different cultures and how it differs from ours here in America, as well as our shared experiences of spending time in the Carolina’s and how maybe some parts of the country are celebrating the wrong parts of their history and SO MUCH MORE in this awesome chat with Lord Nelson.

This was taken from a livestream we on did on our various socials after a weekend of Heartsick almost winning a slot on this years Furnace Fest.
Over the course of the two days of that competition we saw the band almost pull out another win for them to have the opportunity to play another legendary fest, only to have the whole experienced marred by the gatekeeping nature of the fans of that fest, who at times would say the band didn't belong, weren't "hardcore enough" and even banding together with other fans/bands just so Heartsick didn't win.
This "outsiders not welcome" mentality reminded me of how it goes against the ethos of hardcore and metal, which is about community and belonging when you don't fit in elsewhere, but how this mindset is really how the culture has always been.
Join Alfonso and I as we talk about this experience, how it's sadly on par with a lot of experiences Alfonso has had being in a band as a POC, how representing and bringing in different cultures into their music has lead to the bands unique sound and a lot more in this in depth conversation about acceptance, community and finding your voice through hardcore music.

We also talk about exploring music WELL beyond metal/hardcore and how that actually allows us to appreciate the various influences others put into their own art. Tanner opens up a bit about his anxieties and how that was a part of why he couldn't continue to live in LA despite the career opportunities it led to.
We both open up about our own journeys through mental health and how even using various psychedelics has led to self discovery. We talk still being a fan of things, and finding passion in what you do and SO SO MUCH MORE

Join Justin and I as we discuss the last time we talked, which was literally the day before the pandemic really went into full swing and touring and most of the world went on pause for 2 years.
How in that time Justin went within and decided to work on some songs that he had sitting on a hard drive and would wind up becoming Lybica with some close friends and how it was to find his "voice" with a new instrument, and what it was like playing the first few shows being up front on stage versus being tucked in back with KSE.
We also touch on Jasta talking about a reunited Blood Has Been Shed for his recently acquired Milwaukee Metal Fest, playing last years Furnace Fest and older bands reuniting and more.

Join Kirk and I as he checks in from the road to discuss the bands latest album. How the album opener was originally written for Body Count, and if Kirk has written much for other bands in his career.
We also touch on the drug epidemic hitting the country by storm, how this informed the lyrics to one of the new songs on the album, and how things have changed from Kirk and I growing up where you maybe drank and smoked some weed. How it is for him having a college aged kid who's being affected by this.
Kirk also reflects back on a 30 year career, how it was having a kid during most of that, and how separating from his ex wife allowed him to know how to navigate being a touring musician with his now wife.
We talk 20 plus years of Down II, being a New Orleans native and get into some sports talk as well.

Join Maria and I as we talk about the bands latest album Run, and what it was like to put out the bands first album and not be able to tour behind it due to the pandemic, and how the band went about writing Run since they didn't really have any of the traditional ways of playing out and seeing how their first album resonated with fans and growing from that. We also touch on how hard it is to choose a set list when you have 2 albums worth of material that's never been played out when you have a shorter set time.
Maria and I then get into an interesting discussion about the differences in our respective countries ranging from the perception of what our countries are like versus how they really are, Maria having siblings that live here in the states, and how the rampant homelessness in OR really shocked her.
We touch on spirituality, religion, art, therapy and SO MUCH more in this really fun chat. Enjoy!

Brandan opens up about working with his significant other, how touring with her has helped him see things from a different perspective as someone who has been doing this for so long. We also talk about finding solace in being a part time band and how the time away has strengthened the bands relationships with each other and really allowed them to make some of their best music now so far into their careers and much more.

Join Andrew, who has quickly become one of my best friends I've made through booking shows and doing this podcast, and I as we catch up from the last time Andrew and I talked.
We get into the new Eidola record Andrew is writing and recording currently, and what fans can expect from this record. Andrew opens up a bit about how the fans support of The Architect gave him inspiration to do another Eidola record, as that was poised to be the bands last.
We talk about me getting off Facebook and how that adjustment has been to my social life, and things we've noticed by integrating with people in person and if there will be more of a shift to people getting away from social media or diving further down the rabbit hole.
Andrew and I talk about shared grief of losing close friends and family over the last few years, how it was for DGD to play Swanfest without Tim and ultimately what the bands first tour was like going through the cathartic experience of grieving the loss of a brother while also getting the healing that everyone needed while playing for all the bands fans each night and a whole lot more in this conversation with a great friend. Enjoy this chat with Joshua and I as we finally get time to link up to do this chat. I had met Josh when I was in Buffalo NY for what would become the last Every Time I Die Christmas shows one night at The Pink, one of THE BEST dive bars I've ever been to in my travels.
While I had no idea where this conversation would go we got to talking about growing up in the east coast and the rich cultural melting pot that has allowed Josh to find himself as a creative/musician, as well as opening up about previous substance abuse issues, finding an extended family....which ultimately has allowed him to have an interesting career in the culinary field.
We also talk about being in the bar industry, what it's taught us about ourselves, and others, as well as talking about the last ETID shows, and what the band has meant to us over the years of growing up with the band and more.

Join James and I as we talk about the upcoming Cage Fight record, how naturally it came about for James to bring this project to life, and showing off a different side of his musical influences that he may not get to show in Tesseract.
We also get into how James got into working behind the scenes as a publicist, and how that medium has changed over the decade plus he's been in it. We delve into music fandom and that the changing landscape of how people consume music, if the album will ever go away in favor of singles based releases, and some of the differences in rock and metal acceptance between the states and UK/abroad.
We end talking a bit about James working with Wes Borland for one of his album releases and if seeing an artists like Wes who creates so many different things has inspired James to tap into something else creatively.

Enjoy this short(er) chat with Brett from Steaksauce Mustache. See YEARS ago we did a chat when the show was under a different name, and the file got corrupted and the chat was never to be heard.
Well now we get to do it over and theres more to talk about, like the band becoming know for being "the hot dog band" to "the diaper band" and how the band has evolved and grown since our last chat. Challenging fans who see the band live to let loose and break free of the standard metal show going aesthetic of standing there looking bummed with your arms folded.
We also dive into where the band could go as far as breaking into other mediums of entertainment, all in a quest to earn as much money as possible to buy up the worlds supply of hot tubs.
Enjoy this one, check out the band if you're not familiar with them however you take in new music.

Join Sergio and I as we discuss music and finding music at an older age that we may have missed for a variety of reasons, as well as the sense of belonging to these communities that support art and likeminded people, and how the newer generations seem to have a better understanding of just being themselves and how we've tried to share in that same approach.
We also delve into Sergio making a more concerted effort to let people in to get to know who he is through his social media and twitch platforms, discovering new things within these new communities that he has found. We touch on how it was in this journey of communities within music and sharing his life with people that lead to his split with Deftones.
We also get into his work with friends to create NFT's, but elevating what it is and can be through different experiences, and what he wants to achieve in this space and how he's always leaned into the digital aspect of life and more. Really great chat about bringing people together and wanting to belong in this world.

We also talk about the changing landscape of the heavy music scene, admission of bands using songwriters, or a main songwriter for the band. What the So What music festival could mean in the merging of hip hop and metal scenes.
We also talk a bit about playing some TGI shows soon where his kids can be present and have the memories of seeing what he does and so much more in this chat.

Join Joey and I as we catch up on a day off in Vegas for the band. We talk about performing on shiprocked and how it was to be one of the newer bands on everyones lips, and the vibe of essentially being stuck on a boat with thousands of people.
We also talk about the music business and how some of the antiquated ways are still around, like venues taking merch cuts, solely due to people being afraid to speak up and make change happen. Joey opens up about people tripping on his voice and with the bands sound, and how gatekeepy fans are of making sure music fits into a certain box, but how there's this crop of artists pushing the boundaries of what's "metal" or not.
We get into touring with legacy acts, what he's able to learn from all kinds of arts, possibly making the move to being an A&R person down the line and more in this candid chat.

Matt also shares how he has learned to be happy being alone, and if he's potentially self sabotaged his relationships to allow for his nomadic vagabond lifestyle, as well as us talking about weird societal norms of conversation in the work place and if one informs the other, and how a lot of these can be trauma triggers.
We wrap up talking a bit about Matt's upcoming book, the differences in himself from the first to this one, what he wants to achieve with it and his future goals for his podcasts, writing and much more.

Tyler joins me to catch up since the last time he and his band were on the show, about 3-3.5 years ago, and how much has changed for the band in that time.
We talk about getting to tour with some of your favorite bands, how it was doing one of their first "big boy" tours and in a pandemic no less. The growing pains of finding your way through being a local band to being a nationally touring band, and really trying to be in the moment and taking advantage of the opportunities they have. Tyler also opens up about how he deals with fans coming up to him and telling him what his lyrics mean to him.
We also look back on our first chat and how nervous he was for their song "Still Life" to come out and the newer direction the bands sound and his vocals were going, and how that was a turning point for the band. We also get into the way we've kinda paralleled our successes in this industry, both being from the same city, and how we've dealt with some of the naysayers and more.

So I've been sitting on this chat I did about a year or so ago with one of the owners and head brewer of Vandestreek Brewing out of the Netherlands about their involvement with Run The Jewels "No Save Point" Hazy IPA, and how they came up with what became their final version of the No Save Point beer from the. base they were given to work from.
I explain in the intro about how the idea of putting together a documentary about the No Save Point beer world tour came about, how far we got in the process and what ultimately lead to this project dying on the vine and more.
Enjoy this quick chat, and maybe have this be a reminder to chase whatever ideas/dreams you've been thinking about doing.
Steve joins me as we discuss how he got into carpentry, the lessons he's learned from that profession and how he's applied it to other faucets of his life.
We also touch on family life, how he finds time to spend with his wife, his kids and time to still write music, as well as being in a "christian metal" band and how tough it can be to live up to the expectations from fans as to how you are supposed to be as a person, the trappings of social media, as well as talking about what it will be like for Steve to play his first show back from the pandemic and more. We also discuss Nicky's work ethic in creating music, where one of the weirdest sources of inspiration struck for a song, finding balance in your life between meeting deadlines and creating art as a whole.

Will Putney, guitarist for Fit For An Autopsy and END, joins me to talk a bit about the bands new album and how cinematic the whole thing feels and if scoring films is in the cards for Will in the near future?
We also talk about Will's producing career, and how he's able to work with so many bands who are constantly pushing the boundaries of a somewhat confining scene. The relationship he has with his bands to create these albums, and how he's quickly become one of the IT producers who's putting their stamp on the hardcore/metal genre with the likes of Ross Robinson or Terry Date etc.
We wrap up with some Body Count / Ice T talk, working with someone so legendary, the wisdom Ice has shared with Will and how he applies it to his life and much more.

Michael is one of my favorite guests I've had on for our ability to hit it off so quickly and have a great conversation about life and music, this one was no different.
Join us as we discuss what the future holds for musicians and the music industry If another shut down were to happen. How some of our mutual friends are killing it in other avenues outside of the music business, but have taken what they've learned from the road and applied it to their new endeavors.
We also get into artists that we think are moving the rock/metal genre to the mainstream and what it could do for other artists. Starting over and being honest with yourself where you are at in life and finding peace in that and much more.

Join Brian Fair, vocalist of Shadows Fall, and I as we talk right after a rehearsal for the bands upcoming reunion shows, which lead to us needing out on music and sports and how similar the two worlds really are.
We also talked about how steeped in nostalgia Brian is being in 2 bands that fans look back on so fondly and want to reunite in Overcast and now Shadows Fall, and if the process of the reunion shows for Overcast helped him leading up to this SF reunion.
Brian and I go a little deep and talk about finding your identity after you're no longer associated with the band that's not active, and how you work through that, as well as how exciting it will be for Brian to experience these shows through his kids eyes, now that they are old enough to remember these shows and seeing their dad in a different light and MUCH MORE.

Sean Zatorsky of DAATH, Chimaira and a slew of other bands joins me for this wild chat as we talk about my favorite city in Atlanta, and how I love the melting pot of cultures there and how it comes out in the music of the area as well, and how it has informed him as a musician since living there over the last 20 years.
We also get into some heavy topics, such as how American culture seemingly does away with any of it's past in favor of "new" and "better" while other countries seem to take pride in it's rich history, but maybe that too is a detriment to it's people as well.
We go deep into talking about supernatural things, which lead us to talking about some real life shit that we were both dealing with, and how our relationship was really started over me reaching out to him after the passing of his close friend and bandmate Joey Jordison. DEEP CHAT, hopefully you all enjoy it.

Lena, vocalist of Infected Rain, joins me as we discussed some of the bigger lyrical themes of their upcoming record, which gave way to us talking more about mental health and our journeys through therapy and coming out the other side better equipped to handle life.
We talk about Lena and the band being from Moldova and how that was trying to be in a metal band in an area that wasn't the most supportive of the arts due to its roots firmly in the old way of life, and how the band was able to overcome that obstacle.
We also get into some tattoo talk, her service animal and much more in this intimate chat.

Vicky Psarakis, vocalist of The Agonist, is the guest on this episode of BREWtally Speaking Podcast.
Vicky joins me as we discuss a lyric on the bands upcoming ep, Days Before the World Wept, that gets us on a tangent about time and mortality and when we as people notice a shift in perspectives about our own lives and taking ownership of our lives versus life happening to us.
We also talk about the Twitch community and how it's more inclusive and inviting of the various sub genres versus the metal/rock communities themselves at times being the opposite. We also get into some harder hitting questions like who the best actor was that played Batman and more.

Matt Musty, current drummer for Train and countless other studio projects, is the guest on this episode of the BREWtally Speaking Podcast.
After years of trying to get longtime friend Matt on the show, it finally worked out to where we could sit down for an hour and catch up. You'll hear about our experiences touring with one another in Sun and Flesh on a tour I booked over a decade ago helped expand Matt's drumming styles and appreciating the touring situation he's in now.
We also share the story of our Gary Busey tour prank, and how being one of the first bands to complete a tour in a pandemic was to discussing how being a studio musician and a hired gun for various artists has allowed him to become a more diverse musician, and if any of those skills traverse into his daily interactions with people.
We also talk being from the East Coast living in other areas, getting healthier, mentally and physically and more.

We also talk about taking risks and knowing when to bet on yourself, growth as people and put over a close friend of ours. Definitely a fun inspiring chat.

Enjoy this chat with Malxolm Brixkhouse from ex Unlocking the Truth as we dive into this heady chat about being a young kid who loved playing metal with his friends and being discovered and lauded as the next saviors of metal, and how that effected him as a young man and as an artist.
We also dive into Malxolm's extensive drug use, and how that has allowed him to learn more about himself and his surroundings, while also became a detriment to his own well being.
We also touch on this melting pot of genres happening right now in the hip hop/alternative scene, how it's reminiscent of the early alternative scene, and how the rock and metal world are often times the cause of it's limits and downfall and SO much more.

Phil Labonte, vocalist of All That Remains, returns as a guest on this episode of the BREWtally Speaking Podcast!! \\
Phil returns to wax nostalgic about 15 years of their album, The Fall of Ideals. Although it deviates into us talking about video games, issues we have with some of our favorite games, and talking about Internet culture and the impact it's had on our lives.
We do eventually get onto talking about The Fall of Ideals and what it was like recording that record with Adam D, and the hilarity that comes from him producing your album. The impact of songs like This Calling, the lineup changes before recording, and the impact of songs like Six being on Guitar Hero.
We also talk a bit about the old hardcore scenes, the geographical differences between each and first impressions of seeing the West Coast bands for the first time and more.
