Burned out by the reality of systemic politics, I spent the next six years running sales for VC backed green-tech startups. And then…Well, then I finally accepted that not only were the systems of the world I had placed my trust in broken, but I needed help too.

I found coaches and teachers, I learned how to reprogram myself by healing my past and choosing my lived experience. I picked at the wounds of my fundamentalist evangelical upbringing, rediscovering God and Love with the help of plant medicine and teachers that reminded me daily practice is the path to knowing the “silent voice within.”

As a personal development coach who works with parents, I'm particularly passionate about helping people navigate the major transitions in family life. Wether the transition that occurs in becoming parents or the one that occurs when a relationship becomes irreparable, these transitions create great opportunities for growth.  Believe me when I say that these lessons have been hard earned.   My first child came swiftly on the heals of my first marriage.  Not so surprisingly we failed to navigate the change of roles from partners to parents. Both of us feeling abandoned, neglected, and undernourished led to increased conflicts that eventually ended in divorce. It was undoubtedly the biggest failure of my life AND it also sparked my transformation from a grown child with a baby to a mature nurturing adult stewarding life.  

In the aftermath of the divorce, I began to reflect on what went wrong. I realized that I had been blaming my partner for the problems in our relationship, rather than taking responsibility for my triggers and unhealed traumas. This realization was a wake-up call, and it was the beginning of my personal development journey.  I got involved with personal development and started leading men's groups, and it changed my life. I began to deepen my exploration of compassionate communication as well as taking a path of radical responsibility for everything that was showing up in my life.  I started applying these principles to my life and relationships, and it opened up a whole new world of possibilities.

My second journey through marriage and parenting would prove to be far more successful.  Although a change in sexual identity would bring an end to our marriage, we continue to share a thriving relationship as compassionate co-parents and loving friends.  My two divorces were certainly among the hardest challenges I have faced in my life, but they were also the challenges that taught me how to truly hold and grow both a family and a life of purpose.  The clarity I gained and offer to my family and clients is what I call Inspirational Parenting.  This approach is about allowing the reflections of our closest relationships to become the guide for the growth most needed to create greater fulfillment.  From that place of fulfillment, inspiring others to meet me at my highest.  I can not change others but I can inspire their growth and if nothing else, I will grow in the process.

"For nearly five decades, I lived with the palpable pain of unhealed trauma and shame. Growing up in a house filled with poverty, substance abuse, and physical, sexual, and emotional abuse left me with profound wounds. 

The trauma and abuse started as early as I can remember and so did my use of drugs and alcohol. At age five my parents began giving me alcohol to reward me for chores. At 9 I began using drugs with family members, and by the time I was 14 I was in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse.

At 17, I decided to change and devoted my life in service to God, I served as a pastor for 13 years, and spent 16 years serving the poor. None of this removed the shame. The pressures and failures of trying to be a “good Christian” and to “please God” only filled me with more shame. 

By my mid-forties the never ending need to try and prove myself turned me into a workaholic, wrecked my nervous system and led to severe burn-out. I was emotionally numb, suicidal, having constant anxiety and panic attacks, and was drinking myself to death.

Finally it all fell apart. Over a two-year period, I had a heart attack, open heart surgery, a stay in rehab, a second divorce, and another visit to rehab.

My last stay in rehab opened my eyes to the unhealed trauma and deep shame I was living with. I saw how my drinking and destructive behaviors were my best efforts to survive the pain I was in. 

On my final day of rehab during my last group session, I spoke the words, “I am worthy of my own love.” When I said those words something tangibly shifted deep inside me.  

For the first time in my life, I realized that the source of my suffering wasn’t just the pain of trauma but a separation from love, my own love. I decided at that moment I was going to learn what it meant to love myself, and how I could heal my life.Since that day, I have been researching and experimenting with the ways we heal. A journey that has taken me around the world and into places and spaces I never dreamed I would have ventured into.

I’ve explored sources of suffering and the science and spiritual practices that heal us from within. Dissecting how trauma, toxic religious beliefs, unhealthy relationships, and society can contribute to a deep sense of shame, suffering, and addictions for many of us. I became a student of how mindfulness, meditation, self-examination, traditional and non-traditional therapies, self-love, and self-compassion help us rewire our systems and heal. 

I discovered that we are the healers that we have been looking for all along. I began to see how we can awaken to our own ability to heal ourselves, how we can remove roadblocks that we have in loving ourselves, and the practices we can use to heal ourselves.

Ultimately it is about healing our relationship with ourselves, and that relationship begins to heal when we give ourselves permission to love ourselves"

"At the age of 20, I began my personal wellness journey in hopes of finding inspiration and energy while working my first corporate job (let’s just say it wasn’t a good fit). In a desperate attempt to stop falling asleep at my desk, I tried to introduce some radical concepts (for me at the time): getting up to walk a little more, actually drinking water, and learning to cook my own food. Before I knew it, I started having more energy, was building strength, had more mental clarity, and was becoming more confident than I had been before. Thus, my love of wellness was born and I wanted to share it.

I started my career in fitness as a personal trainer and fitness instructor in 2012, and launched my first blog The Balanced Berry in 2014 to share my love of fitness and nutrition with others. As a personal trainer and nutrition coach, I spent over five years helping women reach their wellness goals in a balanced, sustainable way.

After taking some time off from fitness in 2018, I pivoted to create Balanced Black Girl to introduce my community to Black and brown women experts in health and wellness and create a comfortable place for accessible wellness conversations and connections. Now as a 200-hr YT, I lead wellness conversations and create mindfulness-focused content to help us all find our balance."

We tend to look at life in a very binary way, measuring its successes against its failures and believing that the successes or the proverbial wins are the only ones that really matter. But it’s in a failure, likely more than our successes that we find our true center. We find the areas of our life that are chalked full of shame, guilt, self-hate, disappointment, trauma, and quite plainly pain. It’s in those moments that we really find the parts of ourselves that we hide away, that are overlooked, pushed down, ignored, shielded, and under-explored. We learn that we are not made up of sugar and spice and everything nice instead, we are a mix of dark and light, daytime and night, the yin and yang that’s meant to work together in the balance of our human life. Welcome to our first Bilingual Episode! #stoked. It was so amazing to interview Cátia Machado Dos Santos who had so many beautiful things to say about how we can unlock beautiful wisdom from our higher self, when we rid ourselves oppressive programming.

"At the age of 19, I started looking for the answers to my present difficulties, my anguish, fears, insecurities; in relation to the world and myself. No path I have traveled outside and no one has given me these answers. I was never able to find my answers outside of myself. One night, before going to sleep, I started to question where my answers were, I started to question the cause of my limitations, fears and anguish, but directing these questions into myself, looking for a place inside me where there was a drawer that I could open and discover or remember a piece of my history frozen in time, so I could understand my present, which was all broken and missing pieces.Little by little I started to remember my dreams more clearly and have flashes of answers to my questions.This became a daily exercise. I felt that all the answers were inside me and that I was starting to access them.Gradually, I began to feel that my inner universe was more connected to the outer universe, interconnected; and more and more I saw the synchronicity between the two of them. Just as the structure and mechanism of the two universes were identical.

I experienced the Laws described in the #Kybalion book, seeing them as supporting this method. Philosophical, mental and #alchemical support, with great capacity for mutation. Everything experientially, not just a mental process. Then I felt more steady on the path. And the method became clearer to me. To complement, in a moment of the Journey, I got the #Runic stones from a friend. An old alphabet.I felt in the runic writings the tools of conscious connection between the micro and the macro, as a dynamic, self-evolving, self-conscious and self-transcendent form of the processes. The writing has been adapting and improving through evolutionary scales of perceptions and understandings of the process and methodology as a whole. Becoming more and more a living tool in the process.

The #Runes of this work are unique, they evolved, they are in harmony and conformity with the Laws that govern the universe inside and outside us. The process can be accessed by anyone who wants to do their inner diving and seek answers within themselves, without masters or intermediaries. The method consists in questioning the difficulties of the present, searching for the cause, working the cause at a #conscious level, through the runic tools and the understanding of the #Hermetic Laws. The answers can come through dreams, as well as at a conscious level.This is my story, and how this method was formed. How I deciphered this method, inside and outside myself. Christine Ramos is a maternal-child health Registered Nurse who has worked as a Certified Childbirth Educator, Certified Doula, and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She has earned two baccalaureate degrees. Prior to becoming an RN, Christine was a social worker for ten years in the mental health field. There she worked therapeutically with people who have mental health and substance abuse challenges. In 1996, after having her second son, she felt a call to work with mothers and babies. Soon afterward, she completed the 69 college credits needed to get a second bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1 year. As a hospital RN, Christine worked briefly in cardiac units before specializing in maternal-child health. Before becoming disabled in 2011, Christine worked for the New York City Dept. of Reproductive Health and taught parent education classes at a major NY hospital.

Ever since she can remember, Christine has been a physical, emotional, cognitive, and intuitive empath who can perceive the human energy field. Thomas W. The launch of SANCTUAIRE is a long-time dream that has now come to fruition for Courtney Arrington-Baldwin. Sanctuaire, the French word for sanctuary, is a place of refuge and consecration for the mind, body, and soul—a holy place. Tyrone Brown had his first UFO experience when he was 10 years old along with a barrage of mystical experience from a young age. His first contact, spurred his interest in the dream world so much so he became a dream interpreter . He believes that dreams are a hug untapped resource we have the opportunity to engage with every night to get guidance and messages from beyond.

Fast forward to adult life... He spent a few years working as a stuntman, along side a corporate job, until a meditative experience shattered his reality. David first stumbled upon the concept of alchemy in college when he encountered the study of hermetics, the concept of “as above so below” relating to an ancient occult tradition encompassing alchemy, astrology, and theosophy.

As a child, Daniel had always believed there was more to the world than what met the eye, but the education system taught him that this wasn’t the case. Science held the answers to everything, and if science couldn’t answer a mystery, then there was no merit to it. So every feeling he had which strayed from mainstream thinking, became tucked away in the back of my head.  And like so many others in our world, he became one of the herd.

Fast-forward a decade: nothing felt right; there was no fulfillment in my life, then BAM! He was struck down with an autoimmune disorder - which greatly diminished his ability to function in the world.  As a firm believer in science, he spent the next 6 years visiting new doctors, clinging on to the belief that only they could fix him.

One day I took a good hard look in the mirror and said to himself,” we’ve got to find another way.” A couple in a class he has taken asked him if he’d every tried a past life regression and it sparked his interest enough that 6 months later, he gave it a try.

While his first past life regression experience didn’t completely heal his autoimmune disorder, he left with a new perspective on life: after the experience he had just had, he was made a firm believer in past lives. “That means there will be a next life. It could be better, or it could be worse… these are the cards I’ve been dealt this time around, so how am I going to play them the best way I can?”

A year later, in 2016, he became a certified past life practitioner of QHHT® from Dolores Cannon’s Quantum Healing Hypnosis Academy. Kylee Zeck is a Holistic Health coach and certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. After years of healing her multiple chronic illnesses she aspires to empower individuals to take their health into their own hands and create their own healing journey.

When Kylee was a teenager her health took a turn for the worse after a long bout with mononucleosis. Months of chronic pain turned into years as doctor after doctor struggled to pin point a single diagnosis, but agreed she was exhibiting severe auto immunity. She was prescribed multiple medications over the years, which masked her autoimmune symptoms, but led to further health complications. After many years of frustration with multiple doctors, multiple medications, chronic pain and debilitating flare ups, Kylee felt this would be a life long struggle.

In 2016 her life radically changed when she learned how big of a role diet can play in health. She cut out processed foods, grains, dairy, refined sugars, and completely tapered off all medications. Alec and his siblings grew up in a very chaotic and abusive household where he was physically, emotionally and verbally abused .Feeling felt worthless, he had no internal self esteem, so he externalized his self worth in order to feel. Being in a military environment with a rigorous academic schedule, gave him the critical thinking skills, discipline, structure and time management skills that he needed, but he hadn’t yet healed his trauma and learned to find peace within.

After graduating, multiple traumatic events transpired that forced him to turn inward and heal his childhood trauma, and by chance, he discovered the Law of One. All of this happening in such a short timeframe led him down a rabbit hole of questioning and relearning everything he had been taught to accept, particularly government, health, medicine, politics, free will and the nature of reality, to name a few. Eric Adams is not your ordinary politician. Born and breed in Queens, NY, as a teenager he suffered a brutal beating by police that changed the trajectory of his life forever. Believing he could change things from the inside, Eric served as an officer and Captain in the NY transit and NYPD for 22 years. Then went on to become a democratic state senator and since 2013 serving as the first black Brooklyn Borough president.

Daniel Young is a self-taught yoga teacher that began his relationship with yoga 20 years ago at the age of 19. He learned and practiced with teachers from all over the world, while suffering ongoing injuries from a major car accident he incurred at 14. Daniel was drawn to yoga to heal misalignment in his physical body and he was determined to overcome his mind to continue his love of being active, especially his love for surfing and the ocean. Daniel’s major injuries breaking his right leg so badly it required 4 painful knee operations, suffered ongoing back problems and a 4cm difference between his left and right leg. But he was determined to not let fear keep him from living the life he wanted.

Since then, Daniel has established ITSA LIFE Yoga teacher training with his partner Randi in Bali including Asana, meditation and most of all pranayama and kundalini healing breath practices.
